Jamal Hill, Paralympic Swimmer and President of Swim Up Hill , was born to be a swimmer. By the age of 8, he was already winning more medals and trophies than anyone else in his age group. 

However, at 10 years old, his life was turned upside down. He was diagnosed with Charcot-Marie-Tooth, a hereditary disease that damages the nerves in the arms and legs. For a while, swimming was off the table. 

But his parents raised him to believe that there were no limits to what he could accomplish, and that if he worked hard at something, he would 100% become better at it.  

He did work hard, and in 2021, he won the bronze medal in swimming at the Paralympics in Tokyo.

Andrew Yang, a 2020 presidential candidate from New York, proposes a Universal Basic Income of $1000 a month for every adult. His goal is to make America think harder about the future. of work and help people eventually take control of their lives.

In 2020, Yang is the first candidate who has proposed a Universal Basic Income. He believes all Americans deserve an income floor to be able to survive without relying on part-time work or government assistance like unemployment insurance or food stamps. Yang's proposal would shrink the size of federal bureaucracy by shifting much responsibility for basic income payments to local levels of government and nonprofits, which means fewer jobs for administrators and more money in people's pockets. Yang makes the argument that a Universal Basic Income would allow people to take more control of their lives, and turn down the meaningless and low paying jobs.

A recipient of the Distinguished Career Intelligence Medal, Darrell served multiple tours as a station chief, and was the most senior black Directorate of Operations officer when he retired in October 2018 with the rank equivalent to a three-star general.

Elina Berglund is the Co-Founder of Natural Cycles, a fertility-tracking application that entered the market in 2013. A native of Sweden, Berglund, an engineering physicist, completed her PhD at CERN. It was there that she began searching for the elusive Higgs boson particle. In 2012, following the discovery of the Higgs boson and being part of the team awarded the Nobel Prize for that feat, Berglund started to focus on family life, and it was during that time that she began seeking alternative contraceptive pill options. She created a powerful algorithm, used to identify the fertile window in a woman’s cycle, which led to the path of entrepreneurship she is on today. Reinhard Genzel is a Nobel Prize winner who focuses primarily on the field of Experimental Astrophysics. His research group studies the physical processes and the evolution of active galaxies and, in particular, their central regions. His work on black holes has made him one of the most respected voices on this phenomenon. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Bonn (FRG) in 1978. He came to Berkeley as a Miller Fellow in 1980 and joined the Physics Department faculty as Associate Professor in 1981. He left Berkeley in 1986 to become Director at the Max Planck Institute for Extraterrestrial Physics in Munich (FRG), where he is also an Honorary Professor at the Ludwig-Maximilian University.
