‘I received a telephone call from a very distressed Marianne, informing me that her ‘unwelcome guest’ had been causing absolute mayhem inside her home. Objects were being thrown around, doors were opening mysteriously and slamming closed on their own, horrendous thumps and bangs were reverberating around the house, taps were being turned on, their possessions were disappearing from their original places and then re-appearing just as mysteriously, and their young child Robert began to see ‘people’ in the house.’

I spoke to the previous skipper of the trawler, and he confirmed to me that owning that boat was the worst 18 months of his life. He swore to me that he had seen an apparition near the prow of the vessel. The mist seemed to be swirling across the surface of the water at a measured deliberate pace; the woman watched in complete disbelief as it began to form into the shape of a human-like figure with wings. Episode 50 - Part 4 - Always Remember to Close the Door and other Listeners Stories

The dog went everywhere with us, but there was no way we could get her into the van. It was as if she knew something was very wrong. It was a terrifying journey to the rubbish tip, and once we arrived, we energetically began throwing the items into the trash – but as quickly as we were throwing them away, people began pulling the items back out. Even when we tried to warn them about what these things were capable of … we were ignored.

Episode 49 - Terrifying Attachments

While we were all talking, a horrible feeling swept over me ... we had to go back in there. All of our camera equipment was still inside, and we were also key holders, which meant that we were responsible for the building while we were there. We had to lock up and make sure the building was secure. We all agreed to wait a while and then go back to get our things, lock up and leave.

After an hour or so, we cautiously walked back to the room to grab our equipment. As we stepped inside, we couldn’t believe what we saw. The place looked like it had been ransacked, with things thrown in all directions. Quickly, we gathered everything, locked the building, posted the keys through the manager’s office letterbox … and left.

As I crossed the threshold of the doorway, I felt something grip the back of my stab vest just underneath my neck and pull me backwards. The force of the pull was strong enough for me to lose my balance and stumble backwards into the room; however, not enough to make me lose my footing entirely. I turned to face the interior of the room once more ... but still found myself alone. At this point my skin began to crawl, and a fear unlike anything I’d ever experienced before (and have not felt again to this day) started to quickly wash over me …

Here at the Haunted UK Podcast we have sifted through hundreds of incredible cases of ghost sightings, strange encounters with mysterious creatures, sightings of dark shadow entities, alleged psychic ability, ancient and modern-day curses, eerie premonitions, haunted houses, poltergeist encounters, time slip stories ... the list goes on ... but there's still one topic of the paranormal which we find absolutely fascinating. One topic, which we've never covered. An avenue of the paranormal which is so strange, and so incredibly rare, that when it happens ... attention is drawn to It ... but that attention rarely seems to make the news. Is it because that the majority of people would find these particular stories too unbelievable ... too far outside the boundaries of what is deemed credible?

After appearing in silhouette in an interview with George Knapp on KLAS News, Bob Lazar recieved a phone call at home. He picked up the and phone and said hello and as soon as the voice on other end began speaking, he knew who it was. ‘Making sure their parents were asleep, the two 17-year-olds quietly left their homes with their tent, sleeping bags and other bits and pieces, and drove to a secluded spot. At around midnight, they'd found the perfect place to camp, so began pitching their tent and getting comfortable. It wasn't long after this that they both thought they heard something moving around in close proximity to their tent … They kept still and quiet, and continued to listen, but this was when the sounds of movement changed into the sounds of very definite footsteps ... there was someone in the forest with them.’

‘My lungs collapsed, and I required an emergency tracheostomy and multiple surgeries. A number of times my heart stopped for minutes at a time. In one particular incident I was rushed into emergency surgery, my poor mother asked the surgeon if I would survive. As the surgeon took me from my mother, he said, ‘put her son into my hands, and into the hands of fate!’. During this surgery I was about to be pronounced dead before the doctors managed to resuscitate me.

On recovery, I grew healthy and strong … but fast-forward to my travels though … and the strange events start to become apparent …’

So, as you'll all be aware, our current season has now come to an end...and what a great season it was...so many amazing stories, and so many fantastic listener contributions.

And whilst we're working hard in the background on the new season, we felt that we didn't want to just leave you all in a paranormal type limbo, so we've decided to pull a few of our most memorable episodes out of the vault...and re-release them...so that all you amazing listeners out there, have something to sink your paranormal, supernatural and even sceptical chops into.

We placed the glass onto the board, and all reached out to touch it together, it was like a scene from a horror movie. All slightly apprehensive, we looked around at each other and started to ask questions like, ‘is anybody there?’ and ‘will someone talk to us?’. A few minutes passed … and disappointingly nothing happened. Then … suddenly … completely unexpectedly … the glass started to move; we all stared at each other in complete disbelief; the room going eerily cold with both dogs letting out spine-tingling howls. The dogs then proceeded to bark and howl uncontrollably, running and jumping, bouncing off the walls of their kennel and snarling like rabid animals. Nothing I said or did would calm them down … and, in all truth, it absolutely scared the hell out of me.

‘The house was built around 1880, and the family had only lived there a few weeks when odd things started to happen. Their daughter Elaine formed a habit of talking to herself. The United Kingdom has hundreds of beautiful, picturesque villages which, every year, are pitched against each other for a number of awards and honours. But there is one particular village which, in 1989, was given a title which no other village will ever have. It's this village which is the subject of this episode.

Pluckley, in the region known as 'God's Garden" has a dark reputation as the most haunted village in Britain, with hundreds of sightings of ghosts, encounters with poltergeists and other incidents of paranormal activity, is Pluckley really all that it's cracked up to be?

In this episode we'll go through many of these stories and legends, and then leave you to decide whether Pluckley fully deserves it's Guinness Book of World Record status as the Most Haunted Village in Britain.

Episode 40 – The Attic and Other Listeners’ Stories Part 1

‘It all really kicked off a month into living there. Three of the girls had gone home for the weekend … and three of us stayed. On the Saturday night, we were all at home in the lounge. The lounge certainly wasn’t an easy place to be: dark, musty, oppressive – even my dad felt a presence there when we first moved in, and not wanting to frighten me … he didn’t tell me. So, there we were relaxing, thinking about what we could watch, setting ourselves up for a Saturday night in when … suddenly, we heard loud running footsteps above us to the point where the ceiling was actually bouncing. We screamed, and all assumed a burglar had broken in as the front door was unlocked. The noises intensified and we got more and more panicked and terrified – but after trying to call our boyfriends to come round and getting no answer – we decided to investigate ourselves. Slowly, we started walking up the stairs to find out what was going on – I remember shaking – and when we were halfway up a loud bang at the top of the stairs sounded … and then a clattering of running footsteps towards us down the stairs … but we couldn’t see anything.’

Amelia lay awake for what seemed like hours, and with her windows closed but the shutters open, she decided to gaze out her window and admire the beautiful moonlit countryside. Amelia's bedroom window gave her an ideal view of the large lawn and the border of trees, which stood between Coglin Grange and the old graveyard; as her eyes scanned the silhouettes and shapes cast by the moonlight, she noticed that two small bright lights had now appeared in the treeline. These lights were moving through the trees and steadily towards the lawn … but what were they? ... Eye shine from an animal? ... There is a world beneath our feet that exists which we know little about. Miles and miles of tunnels both man-made and natural spread out around our planet like the tentacles of some immense creature; and all the time more are being dug and more are being found. Intricate cave systems with underground rivers and lakes, spectacular huge caverns and even cavities filled with massive crystals continue to surprise scientists and explorers as they are being discovered.

Some of the deepest mines on Earth can stretch to an astonishing 4 km underground, with temperatures reaching 60 degrees Celsius with a humidity factor of 95%. Thousands of people pass through the entrance gates of Dudley Zoo and Castle every year and almost all of them have no paranormal experiences at all. ‘Mum and Dad met at the Bakehouse on Baldwin Street in Bargoed in 1965 soon after she left school.  They dated for three years and married at the Cardiff Register Office in April 1969.  After they were married, Mum and dad didn't get a place of their own, they continued to live at Gladstone Villa with my grandparents.  Mum told me that nothing paranormal occurred until after I was born in 1969, and that the activity … started in the attic …’

As Tom was sitting next to the bar of the pub, where he had been the landlord for just a year, he was thinking about everything that had gone on whilst he and his family had been there. What happens when we die? Do we simply cease to exist, or is there something else? Is there a posibility that the very element of our being, the thing that makes us who we are, personality, sense of humour, our traits, habits and our ability to process emotions, can somehow be transfered or picked up by a completely different person? On the 15th of September 2024, I attended a ghost hunt at the location of this shows very first episode way back in June 2021. That location was of course, Dudley Castle. Since an early age, I’d had a healthy interest in castles, and knowing that one with such great historical significance was just a short drive away from not only where I grew up, but also where I live now, always seemed surreal.

But throughout my early years, I never really thought of Dudley Castle as a place where ghosts or the spirits of the dead, would haunt…but how wrong I was. On the 16th July 2021 I released an episode of the show which became so popular that many listeners have been asking for a follow-up ever since. That episode was Time Slips, and it dealt with an element of the paranormal which many find completely unbelievable...until they hear the stories. We know that many famous Physicists such as both the late Stephen Hawking and Albert Einstein believed that time travel was theoretically possible....it was just that our technology was lagging behind...way behind, and still is. ‘When there were almost a hundred people working around you every day, you never really had time to take notice of strange things going on. Rumours would circulate about a particular room or the gossip about yet another caretaker leaving after two months, but you just got on with it and carried on. It was when the numbers started to drop because of relocation that things REALLY began to get noticed’...part of Carole’s story regarding her experiences at her previous place of work.

This story was initially sent in by Carole, which isn't her real name, towards the end of 2022 and it was so enthralling that I asked if I could feature it as part of a full episode. "We came here, we were just married, and we were up in the greenhouses, picking grapes. And my wife Helen had her hand out, and she suddenly felt little fingers pulling off her wedding ring. Directly below her there was stone, and it never hit the floor. It should have gone ‘ping’! So we searched and searched, we dug up the greenhouse. And I knew that in that greenhouse childish laughter had been heard, so I said ‘Well it’s the little people who live just one octave up, and they have a naughty sense of humour.’

Episode 34 - Predictions of the Future

In 1983 a movie, based on a novel written by Stephen King, was released starring Christopher Walken, and directed by David Cronenberg. It told the story of an everyday schoolteacher who, after a terrible car accident, fell into a coma. He was moved to a special institute where his mother and father hoped that one day he would recover and wake up. Five years after the accident, he did just that...but he woke up with a very special gift...or a ‘curse’ as he called it. Whenever he touched someone, he could see their past and future. Something as innocent as the shaking of hands, or even a hug would almost instantly cause him to be immersed into a point of time where he could see what had happened, or what was going to happen to that person and their loved ones. That movie was called The Dead Zone, and if you have any interest in the paranormal, then I urge you to watch it.

Episode 40 - Flight in Time and Other Listener Stories Part 5

Woodhall Spa Airfield, early 1940s. ‘They got to the NAAFI and went inside. It was bright, warm and a welcome place to shelter from the cold and wet conditions outside. They each had a cup of tea and a bowl of stew and sat at a table by the window while they ate their food and warmed themselves up. Nothing felt weird and nothing was noticeably amiss. Yet out of the window, they noticed two airmen walking on the airfield, presumably returning from a flight … but was it a flight from the unknown?’

As I knelt down to peer into the bushes, I was met with a pair of yellow eyes, with black pupils. I've never seen anything like those eyes in my life, and I never want to see them again. As I backed away, a low growling noise came from the bushes. I fell over my BMX, then quickly picked it up and began pedalling like mad........part of a witness statement of the sighting of a wolf like creature.

Episode 50 – Part 2 - Experiences of a Witch and other Listeners' Stories

Doors began opening and closing by themselves. Loud banging noises were coming from downstairs, as well as the sounds of footsteps from someone who was clearly walking around the rooms below her bedroom … but it was what happen next, that truly frightened her. As clear as any voice she'd ever heard, someone said the name ‘Azazel’ ... the name from her nightmares, then, as she continued to talk to the Ouija board, the planchette began to move, rapidly spelling out the same name.

Julie completely freaked out and threw the planchette across the room ... but made the huge mistake of not closing the session down ... not saying goodbye, so whatever was now in the house … was staying in the house.

Our bedroom was small and narrow, and the door was about six feet from the end of our queen-sized bed. The noise was thunderous, three knocks, rapid and loud. Bang, bang, bang! 

‘Did you hear that?’ I said, ‘Yep,’ Brian responded – his voice weird and bored. I had a moment of surprise and sat straight up in bed. Then it happened again. Bang, bang, bang! This time, I got up immediately and walked quickly to the door, figuring that one of the three kids, probably my seven-year-old daughter, was scared and needed me. I opened it and started to speak, then stopped when I saw no one was there. I stared into a large, well-lit open area that was completely empty. I could see the stairs ... also empty. My lizard brain hissed softly. ‘Run’ it said.

All of these fantastic movies share a plot device where the protagonist or the protagonists, travel either backwards or forwards in time, or are forced to relive the same moment in time, over and over again, to fix something that may have gone wrong or to maybe gain some sort of insider knowledge to take back with them. But this is Hollywood, the silver screen, the movies.....time slips couldn't be real......could they?

Time slips are an incredibly curious and rare member of the paranormal family. In this episode, we take a look at a few of some of the most amazing tales of time slip phenomena, and then leave it to you to decide whether these stories are real.....or something else. Whether this is true or not, if you find yourself out in the countryside, or wandering around an old house or castle, and you get a strange feeling, keep your wits about you because the next person who could experience a time slip.....could be you.

It's 1972, and the location is Walt Disney Studios. The chief of animation, as well as 4 other animation specialists have just finished watching a first generation copy of a short film showing what looks a like a living, breathing, moving creature which should only exist in folklore and in the minds of movie makers and writers. Even Disney executive Ken Peterson is hugely impressed with how the film makers made this creature look so real. When Peterson asked the man who had brought the footage in to Disney, which studio had it been produced in....he got the shock of his life when he was told that it hadn't been filmed in a studio....it had been filmed in the forests of Northern California.....

One late evening, I was sat downstairs alone, when everyone else had gone to bed. I was watching a movie on the TV, and I wanted to see the end as I wasn't that tired. Out of respect for the others in the house, I'd turned the volume down – to not disturb them – even though they were quite a way up in the house. As I was sat there, I began to feel uneasy, not something I'd ever felt in that house, or anywhere else for that matter. Feeling anxious, I was strangely afraid of making any sudden movement; I felt like I was being watched, I guess … this is when I began to hear something … it sounded like a cat’s bell slightly ringing, just like you'd hear if a cat was scratching itself. Now, they did have a cat, but I was certain that it didn't have a bell on its collar. It only seemed to ring for a second or two before it stopped, and made way for something that made my blood … run … cold …

"Whilst stood in the Church area, both myself and my colleague heard voices, almost like singing. We also heard footsteps even though we were both standing still. It was amazing looking round and we walked the halls of the school chatting about what had happened there and how we would not be surprised if it was haunted. When leaving the building, the security guards asked us if we heard or saw anything in there, and when we talked about what we'd heard, they said that they often see faces at the windows and flashes of things inside."

'Tis the season to be jolly.....and also the season to tell spooky stories, and the cases of the missing 411 are definitely creepy. In America, tens of thousands of people go to national parks to enjoy the scenery, wildlife and the awesome experience of being in the presence of amazing natural beauty.
