05 Dec 2019 | Leaving Instagram: An Audio Diary | 00:32:49
After spending my entire adult life building a career on social media, I decided to step away from it all to see what would happen. In the virtual world I was thriving but in reality I was more isolated and insecure than ever. I needed to see for myself if the cycle of internet attention and rejection had anything to do with it. I recorded a series of diary entries over the ensuing weeks to track my progress. My hope here is to start a dialogue about social media and its damaging effects on mental health and the creative process. These things are not easy to talk about, especially when your income depends on maintaining your popularity. But this is something that I have to put out there. I look forward to hearing your own thoughts and experiences. Get in touch with me by email at augustbryanlamm@gmail.com
