Lewis, is this movie amazing? Or is it just us?

I did not expect to sit down and discover one of my favorite ghost movies ever. This one does it different than the rest.  This movie feels cold and isolating - with some of the best use of sound design since Twin Peaks: The Return.  It actually spooked me a little after watching and I cannot say that about a lot of other movies.

Give this a shot, you wont regret it.

Boils and Ghouls... This weeks episode Trevor and I happened to stumble upon two pieces of media that fit so well together its almost....scary? 

It's also a little bit like when Remy in Ratatouille ate a piece of cheese and strawberry at the same time.

This week we talk about one of my favorite video essay creators Kaptainkristian and his latest video The Melancholic Comfort of Late 90s Horror. I highly recommend spending an evening watching all of his videos. There is truly nobody else doing it like he is. 

We pair that with the short film on Shudder The Runner . It plays just like a long music video with little snippits of narrative. 

They both share this wavy popping in and out of reailty with very clever editing tricks that I honestly want to steal in my own projects.

Where we're going, we WILL need eyes to see! This week we revisit the 1997 classic Event Horizon in Glorious 35mm at The New Beverly. With a very special guest....our friend Garin!

Let me explain what is going on. I have been going to The New Beverly cinema and watching all sorts of classic films I have never seen before. 

So it got me thinking... What other classics have I not seen?

Thus the creation of NICKS MEGA MOVIE LIST. 

From School of Rock to 2001 to Julia and Julia to Peeping Tom to Boyz in the Hood to Misery.

There is quite a bit of brillant filmmaking I have not experienced.

So to kick things off I wanted to start with a David Cronenberg Videodrome.

With special effects by the legendary Rick Baker Monster Maker I knew I would be in good hands.

Piranha 3D is a weirdly great entry in one of horror's weirdly great franchises. Take a bite of this episode and see how it tastes.

A comedy centered on a rock 'n' roll band that will do anything to become famous.

This movie has more charm than DRACULA HIMSELF!

Seriously, this film is the best kind of low budget.  I can sell you on this film with one sentence.

This week our group voted for us to watch the 1988 Klassic - Killer Klowns From Outer Space! 

What a fun time this flick is - Still holds up with its creative set design - ungodly looking creatures and a cop who went through Korea and is tired of this sh!t

We had the pleasure of watching They Live for the first time on 35mm thanks to Cinematic Void! After watching John Carpenter's Vampires man was this a great rebound! 

Boils and Ghouls....we made it!! 

To be honest going though this franchise was not easy.

But boy am I glad we did it. For the longest time I have sat here and wondered what the Wrong Turn franchise had to offer. 

And did the expierment of watching it backwards pay off? 

Short answer. Yes! 

Walking backwards to the Mecca that is the OG Wrong Turn felt great. Seeing the love and craft go into our favorite hillbilly mutant freaks with characters who (aside from Henry Rollins in WG2) I was rooting for the entire time and was bummed when they got...well you know.

Its kinda like back in the 90s when crash bandicoot teamed up with pizza hut to eat the za backwards.

But instead of eating an extra large stuffed crust....were noshing our way though a franchise neither of us has seen (aside from the first two).

So to kick things off were starting smack dab on the 2021....Remake? I really have a hard time calling it that since it has nothing that we loved from the first film. INCLUDING the main characters making a WRONG EFFING TURN!

Aside from that - its not a bad film.

So were curious to know from the listeners.

Ok so we need to be honest. We recently watched a handful of movies that on paper...we should have LOVED! But for various reaons these movies did not live up to the hype. There are a few things here and there that the films did that rocked - but overall they were pretty much duds. 

I cannot think of a better way to invest 55 mins of your life. Than by watching this movie. This flick has trimmed off all the fat! Its to the point and in your face and you WILL leave exhausted. In the good way of course.

Is there a better way to kick off the Halloween Season? Probably not! This one has it all! The body count of a slasher, the "who done it" of a mystery and a style that has yet to be matched since its release in 1999!

WE ARE FINALLY DOING IT! After 2 years of trying to figure out how to pull this off its here! Our spiritual successor to the famous Bravo "The 100 Scariest Movie Moments". We loved this when it first aired and wanted to do our take using movies from 2008ish - now.

When I first saw the trailers for this film I was underwhelmed. After Seeing the film I CANNOT BELIEVE HOW GOOD IT WAS! 

The theater ate this film up and it was a blast! A few odd story things here and there but the camera work that keeps you guessing and Moss 10/10 acting make up for it all!

A b-movie that takes place in the snow (his Battle of Hoth setting), with some excellent gore (like when Han thought they smelled bad from the outside), and it wouldn't be Wrong Turn without a little...well..you know.

Its the perfect time of year for a short horror story. Written and narrated by my best friend and partner for the past ten years!

How low can we go this week? Underground, to seek out, revisit and review C.H.U.D. which hit us right between the eyes with perverse charisma.

This week George and I review Robert Eggers latest - The Northman. 

A film loosely based on William Shakespeares Hamlet. With a good amout of gore, psychedelic trips and visceral actions scenes. We cannot recommend this movie enough to the standard bolt action horror fan.

First Impressions are everything! This week George and I break down some of the best character introduction for Hero's and Villains alike! 

Also....2004 seemed to be a year that knocked this concept out of the park. No clue what that's about!

There is a lot to say about this one, its got some stuff going for it. But a good script is not one of them. Unless its a secrete prequel to (SPOILER)All Dogs Go To Heaven.
