22 Mar 2023Assault on Precinct 1300:54:18

What's your favorite John Carpenter film?

This week Trevor and Nick check off another flim on the "Nicks Mega Must See (Before he dies?) Movie List"

With the 1976 Carpenter classic Assault on Precinct 13.

This film had us talking about a buch of topics. From old school cinematic action - why you should skip the first season of most tv shows- to changing the way I view the first 20 mins of any film.

Is this a life changing episode? Maybe! But only if you tell us via a 5 start review on our itunes right.....here! Halloweekly iTunes

18 Apr 2020ep 146: You think Jason X is terrible? You watched it wrong!00:24:35

Jason X is the citizen Kane of its genre (seriously look it up). This film has some of the best kills. Strangest Sets and the best premise for our boy Jason.

Make sure to rate and review the show you dirty rats!
03 Sep 2020ep 157: Personal Shopper 00:34:56

Lewis, is this movie amazing? Or is it just us?

I did not expect to sit down and discover one of my favorite ghost movies ever. This one does it different than the rest.  This movie feels cold and isolating - with some of the best use of sound design since Twin Peaks: The Return.  It actually spooked me a little after watching and I cannot say that about a lot of other movies.

Give this a shot, you wont regret it.

30 Mar 2023Melancholic Late 90s Horror + The Runner (Shudder Short Film)00:56:52

Boils and Ghouls... This weeks episode Trevor and I happened to stumble upon two pieces of media that fit so well together its almost....scary?

It's also a little bit like when Remy in Ratatouille ate a piece of cheese and strawberry at the same time.

This week we talk about one of my favorite video essay creators Kaptainkristian and his latest video The Melancholic Comfort of Late 90s Horror. I highly recommend spending an evening watching all of his videos. There is truly nobody else doing it like he is.

We pair that with the short film on Shudder The Runner . It plays just like a long music video with little snippits of narrative.

They both share this wavy popping in and out of reailty with very clever editing tricks that I honestly want to steal in my own projects.

03 Mar 2023Videodrome00:58:16

Let me explain what is going on. I have been going to The New Beverly cinema and watching all sorts of classic films I have never seen before.

So it got me thinking... What other classics have I not seen?

Thus the creation of NICKS MEGA MOVIE LIST.

From School of Rock to 2001 to Julia and Julia to Peeping Tom to Boyz in the Hood to Misery.

There is quite a bit of brillant filmmaking I have not experienced.

So to kick things off I wanted to start with a David Cronenberg Videodrome.

With special effects by the legendary Rick Baker Monster Maker I knew I would be in good hands.

Join us next week as we check off another film off my list with John Carpenter's Assault on Precinct 13!

13 Jan 2022HLCWG 53% - Piranha 3D00:31:34

12 Mar 2020ep 142: Suck (2009) They don't make horror comedies like this anymore! 00:25:32

A comedy centered on a rock 'n' roll band that will do anything to become famous.

This movie has more charm than DRACULA HIMSELF!

Seriously, this film is the best kind of low budget.  I can sell you on this film with one sentence.

Malcolm McDowell as Eddie Van Helsing.

20 Jun 2023Watching Wrong Turn the Wrong Way! The Finale!00:56:22

Boils and Ghouls....we made it!!

To be honest going though this franchise was not easy.

But boy am I glad we did it. For the longest time I have sat here and wondered what the Wrong Turn franchise had to offer.

And did the expierment of watching it backwards pay off?

Short answer. Yes!

Walking backwards to the Mecca that is the OG Wrong Turn felt great. Seeing the love and craft go into our favorite hillbilly mutant freaks with characters who (aside from Henry Rollins in WG2) I was rooting for the entire time and was bummed when they got...well you know.

If you have been with us for the entire journey (THAN YOU) or just now hopping on the Wrong Turn Express. Sit back and join us for the stunning conclusion of.... Watching Wrong Turn the Wrong Way!

07 Apr 2023Watching Wrong Turn the Wrong Way!01:03:32

Hey there Boils and Ghouls!

My goodness do we have a cool series to kickoff this week.

Introducing... Watching Wrong Turn The Wrong Way!

Its kinda like back in the 90s when crash bandicoot teamed up with pizza hut to eat the za backwards.

But instead of eating an extra large stuffed crust....were noshing our way though a franchise neither of us has seen (aside from the first two).

So to kick things off were starting smack dab on the 2021....Remake? I really have a hard time calling it that since it has nothing that we loved from the first film. INCLUDING the main characters making a WRONG EFFING TURN!

Aside from that - its not a bad film.

So were curious to know from the listeners.

Are you a fan of this franchise?

Which one is your favorite?

Have you ever ate pizza backwards?

If you liked this episode consider giving a review on iTunes.

Or a follow on Spotify.

And make sure to follow us on Instagram, LetterBoxd and Twitter....while its still around.

See ya next week for Wrong Turn 6: Last Resort

Ok so we need to be honest. We recently watched a handful of movies that on paper...we should have LOVED! But for various reaons these movies did not live up to the hype. There are a few things here and there that the films did that rocked - but overall they were pretty much duds.

"Scare Package Rocks"

There are a handful of moments that stick with horror fans for a lifetime. Watching the premiere of Scare Package on The Last Drive-in is one of them. So we are thrilled to talk to Scare Packages very own Aaron Koontz! He gave us some amazing behind the scenes stories of the flick - we discuss how we think Rad Chad is horror's newest icon (but maybe it should be Mike) and talk about his upcoming film The Pale Door (out Aug 21).

Make sure to check out the Scare Package merch and all the short films we talk this episode linked down below!

30 Jul 2023Evil Dead Rise00:30:12

Better late than never!

In this bonus episode finally getting around to the much hyped (something we talk about) Evil Dead Rise.

This one really hit a grey area for Trevor and I.

And exploring that grey area is kind of a trip.

What did you think of Evil Dead Rise?

24 Apr 2023Wrong Turn 5: Bloodlines00:52:34

Boils and Ghouls do we have a good one for you this week. Wrong Turn 5: Bloodlines

In this flick, we follow a group of college students who are traveling to a music festival (wink, wink) in the small town of Fairlake, West Virginia (wink, wink). But little do they know, they're about to come face-to-face with a family of cannibalistic hillbillies who are looking for their next meal!

03 May 2023Wrong Turn 4: Bloody Beginnings01:00:03

Today, we're talking about a movie that takes us all the way back to the bloody beginnings...

The film Wrong Turn 4: Bloody Beginnings

In this prequel (which every film in this franchise is), we see how the family of cannibalistic hillbillies that we know and love came to be.

Was it Declan O'Brien's Empire Strikes Back?

I think so!

A b-movie that takes place in the snow (his Battle of Hoth setting), with some excellent gore (like when Han thought they smelled bad from the outside), and it wouldn't be Wrong Turn without a little...well..you know.

14 Oct 2022The Harvest King00:23:19

Its the perfect time of year for a short horror story. Written and narrated by my best friend and partner for the past ten years!

Light up a fall scented candle and get a hot cup of coffee and enjoy this short story that was inspired by Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark. The Harvest King (what a cool title right)?

She also has a fantastic YA Horror novel she co-wrote titled Horror Hotel (writen under the name Victoria Fulton) out now. Available at most book stores and Amazon. Check it out!

18 Nov 2021C.H.U.D. 00:38:05

28 Apr 2022The Northman00:56:27

***Screaming and Howling***

This week George and I review Robert Eggers latest - The Northman.

A film loosely based on William Shakespeares Hamlet. With a good amout of gore, psychedelic trips and visceral actions scenes. We cannot recommend this movie enough to the standard bolt action horror fan.

09 Aug 2020ep 153: Best Horror Character Introductions 00:49:51

First Impressions are everything! This week George and I break down some of the best character introduction for Hero's and Villains alike!

Also....2004 seemed to be a year that knocked this concept out of the park. No clue what that's about!

Wanna make a killer first impression yourself? Consider heading over to iTunes for a review and let us know what you think of our list - and who you think had a killer introduction :)

21 Jul 2021Catching Up! Werewolves and Slashers00:59:02

This week! We talk about Wolf of Snow Hollow and Werewolves Within. I talk about how I did not like Fear Street 1994. Though I still need to see the other two (after recording this George went and watched them and LOVED THEM....so now I need to watch them!)

What have you been watching?

The Roommate from Hell - Single White Female

The first time in this run of How Low Can We Go that George and I disagree on a film. Hellraiser 3 is a Demon to some... Angel to others.

What do you think of the third installment of the Hellraiser franchise?

01 Apr 2022Twins Of Evil 197100:42:57

17 Mar 2022The Devil and Father Amorth00:56:36

Coming in at 46% on Metacritic... Whew buddy was this movie divisive! And not for the reason you think.

This is our first "documentary" in the How low can we go series - and could be the last.

24 Jul 2020ep 151: The Pool (2018)00:46:27

We went into this really wanting to love it we promise!

There is a lot to say about this one, its got some stuff going for it. But a good script is not one of them. Unless its a secrete prequel to (SPOILER)All Dogs Go To Heaven.
