18 Nov 2020 | Aimee and the Forgotten Wallet | 00:35:30
First dates are a bit of a mess, especially when you're meeting a total stranger. But when he forgets his wallet and changes your plans without telling you... stuff gets a bit weird. Aimee is an Australian actress, writer and producer. After performing in a primary school production of a play called “Who Am I?” Aimee ironically found the answer to the question the title asked - she’s a performer, a storyteller, an actor. Always a creative child, Aimee's interest in the performing arts spiked at age 12 when she watched The Devil Wears Prada. Inspired by Meryl Streep's portrayal of Miranda Priestly (and what descended into an obsession with Streep’s body of work), Aimee realised that acting wasn't just something she wanted to do as an after school hobby. A lover of learning, Aimee holds a Bachelor of Creative Industries, majoring in Drama and Media & Communication from the Queensland University of Technology. She is also a graduate of the New York Conservatory for Dramatic Arts and the Brisbane Academy of Musical Theatre. She also hosts the Love Bachually podcast on the That's Not Canon network. https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/love-bachually/id1479927148 https://www.facebook.com/AimeeDurouxActor/ Hosted on Acast. 18 Sep 2019 | Liz and the High School Sweetheart, Tom and the Banshee | 00:34:38
Let's talk about ex, baby! Your hosts Liz and Tom introduce you to your next bingeable listen about love gone bad, and start the ball rolling with their own unlucky in love stories. Let's just say lessons were learned (or weren't but DEFINITELY should have been). In this episode of Ghosts of Boyfriends Past, we meet our hosts former relationship columnist Elizabeth Best and current all-round funny guy Tom Harris. And because fair is fair. the pair share two of the more awkward stories from their relationship past and what they learnt (or SHOULD have learnt). If the guests have to go through it, so should the hosts! And you listeners need to get to know who you're listening to, and why they're completely (un)qualified to talk about relationship troubles. Liz also talks about how the podcast came about and what we can expect from this season: think all funny, tragic, heartbreaking, horrifying and just plain bonkers stories of relationship fails and the people who picked themselves back up again, dusted themselves of and jumped once more into the crazy little thing called love. 02 Oct 2019 | James and the Convenient Polyamorist | 00:33:40
Brisbane's own puzzle master James Elliot chats about his time in a polyamorous relationship with a narcissist. When he reached out to a support group for advice, the answer he got was not what he expected. Here he chats with Liz and Tom about the poly community and how to navigate an open relationship. Glossary of terms James couldn't remember: LIMERENCE: A strong desire for, longing for, or preoccupation with another person, accompanied by a sometimes overwhelming desire for reciprocation. Limerence may be accompanied by idealization of the person so desired. Etymology: The term limerence was coined by Dr. Dorothy Tennov, who described it in her book Love and Limerence: The Experience of Being in Love (Scarborough House, 1979, ISBN 0812862864). Commentary: Limerence is distinct from new relationship energy in that it is more akin to what people commonly call a “crush,” and may not be associated with a relationship at all. Some researchers have linked limerence to quantifiable physiological processes in the brain, particularly to depressed levels of the neurotransmitter serotonin. Some people in the polyamory community use the word limerence as a synonym for new relationship energy, though this usage is not technically correct. NEW RELATIONSHIP ENERGY (NRE): A strong, almost giddy feeling of excitement and infatuation common in the beginning of any new romantic relationship. While similar in some ways to limerence, new relationship energy is distinct in that it often follows the beginning of a relationship (as opposed to desire for a relationship), and can last as long as several years. Contrast old relationship energy. Commentary: Some researchers believe that new relationship energy is the result of the hormones oxytocin and vasopressin, which are released by the brain during the start of a new relationship and after a mother gives birth and are believed to have a role in emotional bonding and in the feelings of happiness and well-being that often accompany the start of a new relationship. WIBBLE: A feeling of insecurity, typically temporary or fleeting, when seeing a partner being affectionate with someone else. Wibbley: of or related to wibble, as Seeing those two together makes me feel wibbley. Contrast compersion, frubble. Usage:Primarily British; less common outside the United Kingdom. COMPERSION: A feeling of joy when a partner invests in and takes pleasure from another romantic or sexual relationship. Commentary: Compersion can be thought of as the opposite of “jealousy;” it is a positive emotional reaction to a lover’s other relationship. The term was coined by the Kerista Commune Available on iTunes, Spotify, Stitcher, Radio Public and wherever good podcasts are found. 07 May 2020 | Jackie and the Tractor Date | 00:29:56
A date, on a tractor, in an abandoned constructions site, at night? Jackie says yes. And then there was the "yoga" date that was ... well ... even we don't quite know how to explain it. The word cult comes to mind? London-based voice actor and stand-up comedian Jacqueline Ozorio has been on some interesting dates. Jackie is a London-based trained voice actor with a passion for character work and storytelling. To further my career as a performer, she moved to London after completing her postgrad in Scriptwriting at Griffith University. She was later accepted into the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama (RCSSD) where she completed an MA in Music Theatre. Jackie then wrote her first musical, a modern feminist comedy called ‘Real Women', alongside musical director and composer Matthew Samer, which enjoyed great success in the 2015 Queensland Cabaret Festival. Since 2018 she's been a regular on the Penny Peepshow podcast, and love the challenge of giving life to so many different characters. Alongside her professional voice over and theatre work, she can also be found doing stand-up comedy on London's open mic circuit. To keep herself fresh and engaged, she also trains in long-form improv with London's largest improv school, the Free Association, and in her spare time she loves to play DnD, watch horror films, and knit hats on the tube. twitter: @jdozorio insta: @jacqueline_ozorio Subscribe to us on ITUNES, STITCHER, SPOTIFY, RADIOPUBLIC or your podcatcher of choice. But Eloise found out the hard way that there's a lot of time for temptation between teen romance and walking down the aisle. EPISODE NOTES: Eloise is a massive nerd and will talk your ear off about all things Doctor Who if you let her (she probably won’t wait though). Currently she’s attempting to write her own episode, because frankly anything will be better than the tripe Chibnall gave us last year. Eloise has officially traipsed the boards for 15 years, singing, acting, and attempting to dance. After many an awful boyfriend, she met her husband whilst acting at the Brisbane Arts Theatre. They now have two beautiful children which Eloise writes about in her parenting blog. It’s still a work out for the legs let me tell you. Eloise has also been attempting to get her own podcast about movies off the ground, but whilst this is a work in progress she’s settled for just appearing on other people’s podcasts instead. truthmummy truthmummy.wordpress.com Subscribe to us on ITUNES, STITCHER, SPOTIFY, RADIOPUBLIC or your podcatcher of choice. Amy says she's a relationship anarchist. They've been married for 20 years, and they also have other partners. Plural. So what does this mean for them? Do they get jealous? How did they get here? 16 Feb 2022 | Lucy and the Dangerous Escalation | 01:17:13
When Lucy fell in love and was proposed to, she said yes because, well… that was what we were supposed to do, right? But things didn’t stay rosy for long. What started with random jealousy and small disparaging remarks from her husband escalated to much more sinister acts of coercive control and abuse that left Lucy losing her sense of self and fearing for her life. When someone has spent nearly two decades convincing you that you’re the problem, and there’s two children in the mix, escape doesn’t seem like an option. A NOTE FROM LIZ: This was a really heavy episode for everyone in the studio and I don’t feel like I adequately expressed myself in the “lessons learnt” section because my mind was still reeling. Now I’ve had time to reflect, I would like to tell anyone out there that a GOOD PERSON will never blame you for their lack of ability to control their behavior. When someone is abusive to you, it is not your fault. I want to tell anyone out there who recognizes themselves anywhere in this story to click on the links below or talk to someone, anyone, about what you’re going through. There is help, there is life after abuse, there is a way out. 04 May 2022 | Penny and the Best of Luck | 00:37:25
It’s a minisode that turned into a main episode! Tom has the spicy cough known as Miss Rona, so Liz decides to bring producer Zane on mic for a minisode story. But thanks to listener Penny’s excellent writing skills and absolute SAGA of a relationship story, this one turned into one heck of a maxi-sode. Buckle in, my friends, because this story of friends turned lovers turned cautionary tale is full of f**kery. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Carly is back to talk about her engagement rings. Yes, plural. Yes, there’s four of them. Plus some wedding bands and eternity rings. Carly Alexander (née Quinn) returns to GOBP for her third storytime (and funnily enough given this ep’s topic this is the third surname she’s had since first appearing!)
