17 Apr 2022 | 094: Everybody's Wet | 01:29:27
After a long recovery, AudioNerd's illness has abated enough for the return of your Gamer Friends! We're "Logging On" with the releases of WWE 2K22, Tunic, Shredders, Kirby and the Forgotten Land, Weird West, GhostWire: Tokyo, Tiny Tina's Wonderlands, LEGO Star Wars, and the Ukraine Bundle. We're also getting caught up on the Sony discrimination lawsuit, ExoPrimal, Returnal's new DLC, the Steam Deck, Game Pass, Playstation Plus Premium's unveiling, Breath of the Wild 2's delay, The Witcher 4 and Kingdom Hearts 4's respective announcements, Fornite's no-build mode, Ubisoft's NFT blunder, and a subscription service for GTA Online.
"These Past Two Weeks in Nerdom," we discuss the first two episodes of Moon Knight, the disastrous release of Morbius, Tekken: Bloodline's announcement, and the finale but not actually finale of Attack on Titan. Finally, in "Party Chat," listener favorite Leslie returns with their thoughts on beating and being beaten by Elden Ring. Is it truly and undeniably the greatest game of all time?? Still sounds like a game Big Nkrumah is going to skip. They also share thoughts on their favorites from the Ukraine Bundle, as well as the surprisingly difficult and delightful Kirby and the Forgotten Land.

19 Jun 2022 | 099: No Man's Skyrim | 01:16:30
Hey Gamer Friends! This episode we're "Logging On" with the releases of Sniper Elite 5, Roller Champions, Industria, Mario Strikers: Battle League, The Quarry, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge. We also cover the successful unionization of Raven QA at Activision Blizzard King, making them the first game workers union in the United States! We also somehow ended up in an E3 season without E3, including the Summer Games Fest, Sony's most recent State of Play, the Microsoft/Bethesda Showcase, and Devolver Digital's annual meta-commentary soap opera. There are literally too many games to list, so we won't!
Due to the sheer number of announcements and trailers, we're pushing our usual Nerddom and Homescreen segments to the next episode, our 100th full-length episode!

Join your Gamer Friends as they embark on the first episode with the new format! This time, we're joined by friend of the show and Dungeon Master @KetracelBlack (https://twitter.com/ketracelblack) to discuss the recent Dungeons & Dragons controversy surrounding the Hadozee, a race of space monkeys that some claim to be racist charicatures of Black people. We talk about the origins of the drama, the merits of the arguments against the Hadozee and other race-focused play in D&D, as well as other similar trends going on in the tabletop space. For more context, check out the links in the show notes.
We're really excited about having more of these conversatrions in the future, and we'd love to hear your feedback! As always, you can reach us at info@gamerfriendspodcast.com. 26 Mar 2018 | 003: A Happy Socialist Whatever™ | 00:52:54
For the third episode of Gamer Friends, AudioNerd64 and Big Nkrumah cover the (admittedly less exciting) news from the past two weeks, and spend some time on the first “Indie Spotlight” discussing Post/Capitalism, A Way Out, and the most innovative shooter we’ve played in years, SuperHot.
Logging On,” we’re covering the beautiful response to the White House’s violent video game reel, the Nindies, mobile launches for PUBG and Fortnite, the latter’s massive livestream featuring Drake and Travis Scott, and more!
This week on “The Homescreen,” Big Nkrumah finally got AudioNerd64 to play The Division, we investigate claims of botting on PUBG mobile, Burnout Paradise is remastered and better than ever, and Assassin’s Creed: Origins drops another excellent DLC.

31 Oct 2022 | 103: THIQUE | 00:50:35
Happy Halloween! To close out spooky season, AudioNerd and Big Nkrumah are talking about the horrific allegations surrounding the imminent release of Bayonetta 3 and the scary (not really) prospect of James Gunn taking over the DC film universe. Also, have you noticed how queer Apex Legends and Destiny are? We certainly have! With the launch of Apex Legend's newest trans character, Catalyst, and Destiny's latest season featuring a queer mom, we decided it was time to talk about it. What are the benefits and limitations of queer representation in these games? You'll have to listen to hear the answer [spoiler alert: there is no answer].

25 Feb 2018 | 001: Rooting For Everyone Black | 01:10:17
For the very first episode of Gamer Friends, AudioNerd64 and Big Nkrumah are keeping it all black everything for Black History Month. “Logging On,” we’re discussing the DICE Awards, Destiny 2’s new roadmap, the current state of PUBG, Mario Kart coming to mobile for the first time, and Burnout Paradise’s (lack of) microtransactions.
In “These Past Two Weeks in Nerdom,” we’re diving into a spoilery dicussion of DC’s Black Lightning, everyone’s new favorite movie, Black Panther, and speculating on the future of the MCU after our first visit to Wakanda. The discussion starts at 00:21:34 so skip ahead to 00:43:00 to avoid any spoilers!
On “The Homescreen,” we’re covering Assassin’s Creed Origins, PUBG, GTA Online, and The Sims. Wrapping up, AudioNerd64 is “Late to the Party” on Assassin’s Creed, and your Gamer Friends discuss the history and mechanics of the franchise through the years, and why Bayek is such a BFD for the industry.
Stick around after the episode to hear our thoughts on Kendrick Lamar's "Black Panther" album.
If you liked the show, please tell your friends about us and give us a rating on your platform of choice! We’ll catch you again in two weeks.

13 May 2022 | 096: Playing Every Game | 01:11:13
Hey, Gamer Friends! We're back with a brand new episode (and some corrections from our recent spoilercast, lol). "Logging On," we're discussing The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe, Nintendo Switch Sports, the Playdate, Sega reboots (including Crazy Taxi and Jet Set Radio), Skull & Bones, a new Star Wars game, and PAX East.
"These Past Two Weeks in Nerdom," we put a feather in the cap of our Moon Knight and Dr. Strange in the Multiverse of Madness spoilercast, talk extensively about The Batman, and touch on the Mario movie, It Takes Two, and the Halo television series. Finally, Bones of Feet member and union steward extraordinaire Alex joins us to discuss Tiny Tina's Wonderlands, Elden Ring, Pokémon, MLB The Show 22, and more. It's a wicked good conversation.

10 Feb 2022 | 091: The Cigarette After | 00:59:20
Welcome to Gamer Friends, fourth anniversary edition! After some celebratory housekeeping, we’re “Logging On” with releases for Dying Light 2, OlliOlli World, Sifu, and Pokémon Legends Arceus, Bungie’s acquisition by Sony, GTA VI’s bland announcement, Watch Dogs Legion, Respawn’s triple Star Wars gambit, Stadia’s demise, and Suicide Squad’s updated release date.
“These Past Two Weeks in Nerdom,” we watched Peacemaker, have some totally ignorant thoughts about Boba Fett, and stop short of really discussing the Moon Knight trailer because of AudioNerd64’s filthy mind.
Finally, on “The Homescreen,” Big Nkrumah has been playing Cities: Skylines’ new airport expansion, The Outer Wilds, and Disco Elysium, while AudioNerd has been focused on Pupperazzi and Sifu.
Thank you so much for listening! As always, we really appreciate the support. Make sure to give us a rating and review, follow us on Twitter, Discord, or Instagram, support us on Patreon, and tell your gamer friends about the show! We’ll catch you back here soon.

23 Apr 2018 | 005: Can You Turn On Your Xbox? | 01:33:41
It’s a big week on Gamer Friends, with our second-ever guest, SaraWithAStar! Big Nkrumah and AudioNerd64 chat it up with Sara about our recent weekend with her Nintendo Switch and a bunch of Switch-exclusive games, such as Mario Kart, Breath of the Wild, and Big Nkrumah’s new favorite party game, Overcooked. Before they get to chatting with Sara, your Gamer Friends spend some time “Logging On” with an outsider’s perspective on God of War’s triumphant return and everyone’s favorite new battle royale adventure, Radical Heights. We also chat about Monster Hunter’s new dragon, the upcoming Cities: Skylines expansion, Destiny 2: Warmind’s official announcement, the launch of Nintendo Labo, and some mild groveling from Anthem’s development team. “These Past Two Weeks in Nerdom,” we give a spoilery recap of Ready Player One and brush on the topic of gaming and pop culture as identites, and what that might mean for a dystopian future like the one depicted in the movie. At 00:42:01 the spoilers end and the boys hype Infinity War’s impending release, our first bonus episode (a spoilercast all about the MCU), and the ongoing Universal FanCon catastrophe. If you’re a fan of the show, please consider writing a review of Gamer Friends on your platform choice and telling your friends! We really appreciate all of the love and support, and we’ll catch you again next week! Relevant Links:

This week on Gamer Friends, Big Nkrumah and AudioNerd64 are Logging on with E3, EA Play and Red Dead Redemptions new trailer! While only one of us is excited about Red Dead, both of us take joy in clowning a New York Times piece on gamers. In “These Past Two Weeks in Nerdom,” we’re continuing our talk about the MCU (spoilers ahead!) and some things not-so-MCU, including Venom, Black Lightning and Teen Titans Go! To the Movies. This week on “The Homescreen,” we’re talking about DiRT Rally, we finally play Rocket League and the new Donkey Kong. Big Nick also gives us his (not so enthusiastic) take on Monster Hunter. 21 May 2018 | 007: Bones of Feet | 01:15:22
On a very special episode of Gamer Friends, AudioNerd64 and Big Nkrumah kick off the show Logging On with a discussion about Thanos in Fortnite, the fate of Radical Heights, a new SuperHot, Microsoft’s adaptive controller, Halo coming to arcade, Black Ops 4, and the now-infamous E3 leak. Next, the guys chat about Deadpool 2, Solo, a potential Ms. Marvel movie, and AudioNerd stays true to his namesake and helps explain why you’re hearing “Yanni,” “Laurel,” or both. Since all they’ve been playing this week is Warmind, the new Destiny 2 expansion, Big Nkrumah considers that he might be a little more optimistic about the game than he’d like to admit. Finally, a project that inspired the creation of this podcast. For our first narrative segment, AudioNerd is telling the story of Bones of Feet, the gaming clan that Big Nkrumah has been playing with for almost three years. Gamer Friends is incredibly proud to share this piece with you, and we look forward to bringing you more narrative content from the world of gaming in the near future.

04 Jun 2018 | 008: We Have A Dream | 01:35:17
Next stop, E3! Your Gamer Friends are here to discuss all of the major news in the lead-up to one of the industry’s most important events. Logging On, we’re reacting to the Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey leak, Battlefield V’s reveal trailer (and all that drama), Bungie’s Year Two announcement for Destiny 2, The Sims 4 finally confirming Seasons, Fallout 76’s info dump, Pokemon coming to Switch, Mario Tennis Aces, Megalodon in Sea of Thieves, and the newest PUBG vs. Fortnite beef. These Past Two Weeks in Nerdom, the guys discuss Deadpool 2 (in semi-spoilery fashion), Solo bombing at the box office, Pusha T absolutely bodying Drake, and AudioNerd64 finally watches Steven Universe. This week on The Homescreen, we dive into State of Decay 2, Big Nkrumah finally gets around to LA Noire, AudioNerd reminisces with the Sega Genesis Classics, we play some more Destiny, The Division, and Rocket League. Finally, friend of the show and technical 2x guest, Paragon2Abyss, aka Chace, joins your Gamer Friends to talk about his recent outings in single player gaming, most notably God of War and Detroit: Become Human (read this again after the episode and you can tell who writes these). Please rate and review if you like the show! We really appreciate all of the love, and we’ll be back again after E3 for some more Gamer Friends goodness. Links:
18 Jun 2018 | 009: Historically Inaccurate E3 Extravaganza | 02:18:29
As promised, it’s an E3 extravaganza open this week’s Gamer Friends. AudioNerd64 and Big Nkrumah painstakingly take you through all of the games announced at E3 (that we care about) in our longest episode to date! No rock is unturned in our quest to fill you in on nearly everything that happened during the biggest week in gaming. Links:
02 Jul 2018 | 010: I Do Play Forza | 01:12:45
We’re back this week starting off with the aftermath of E3, but don’t worry, it will be in much less detail. For the rest of Logging On, we’re talking Battlefield Feminism...uh, we mean Battlefield V’s alpha, updates on PUBG, Nintendo and Sony making friends, and Google making new enemies. Also, AudioNerd tugs at Anthemn’s wig and someone’s excited for the next NHL video game. In These Past Two Weeks in Sequels, we’re talking Ant-Man and The Wasp, Avengers 4, Spider-Man: Far from home, Luke Cage on Netflix and The Incredibles 2. We also get into a podcast that is near and dear to our hearts that just dropped a super nerdy episode discussing all things Kung-Fu and Avatar. In The Homescreen, Big Nick talks a little bit about Cities Skylines, and a lot about The Sims 4 and their latest DLC, Seasons (but you knew that already). We also reminisce over Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, Sunset Overdrive, Halo Wars and Halo Wars 2 (so many sequels!) and AudioNerd gets bored with Elder Scrolls Online. Then we jump into Party Chat talking all things racing. AudioNerd gives his review on The Crew 2 from their closed beta, gushes even more about Forza Horizon 4 and drops some major keys for anyone trying to be a better racing gamer, maybe even inspiring Big Nick’s. Thanks as always for the listen! Please rate and review if you like the show (thanks again to those that have!) and we’ll see you all in two weeks!. 16 Jul 2018 | 011: That Good Bagel Blood | 01:25:00
Gamer Friends has returned this week with lots of news and a dope new guest! Logging On, we tackle the ArenaNet mess and subsequent fallout before discussing toxicity in gaming more generally, including Rainbow Six Siege’s awesome approach to the use of slurs in-game. Next we chat a bit about Warframe coming to Switch, walk through all of the latest Destiny: Forsaken info, and learn just how helpful spell check could have been for Aliens: Colonial Marines. These Past Two Weeks in Nerdom have been a doozy, with news that Billy Dee Williams will be returning to Star Wars’ to-be-named ninth installment, Black Widow’s solo movie snagging a director, and more praise for Cloak and Dagger. The boys have struggled through more of Luke Cage, but spend a lot more time thinking about the future of Steven Universe. Finally, Big Nick walks through his jumbled Ant-Man and the Wasp theory for Avengers 4 and makes a bold prediction for the future of the MCU. For The Homescreen, we’ve been sticking to the rivers and lakes that we’re used to with more of The Sims 4, Forza Horizon 3, PUBG’s test server, and Rocket League’s 3rd Anniversary event. This week on Party Chat, friend of the show DJBobbyFlay joins your Gamer Friends to explain what levain is and trash Goldeneye on N64, but mostly to talk JRPGs. Don’t worry, there’s plenty of Final Fantasy blasphemy thrown in for good measure. Please direct any and all complaints isaidwhatisaid@gamerfriendspodcast.com. We appreciate you tuning in, as always! Please rate and review if you like the show (thanks again to those that have!) and we’ll see you all in two weeks! Links: Jessica Price’s original thread

Big Nkrumah is a fan of the Fortnite theme park, Sekiro’s new gameplay and release date, the Battlefield 4 open beta, but AudioNerd64 is less happy about The Division’s pay-to-play stash situation and no new Assassin’s Creed in 2019. The guys also discuss Forza Horizon 2 and 4, including a Halo crossover, PUBG, Destiny 2, NBA Live 19, Cyberpunk 2077(‘s social media team), and Ice-T on the console wars.
Thank you so much for tuning in! If you’re a fan of the show, tell a friend and drop us a rating and review -- the more reviews we have, the more likely it is that we’ll be featured. Good looking out, and catch you in two weeks! Links: Everything You Need to Know for Destiny 2: Forsaken

11 Sep 2018 | 015: The Beyoncè of Game Development | 01:50:13
This week your gamer friends are getting into a (short) list of news including Battlefield 5’s underwhelming demo, Fortnite’s cosmic cube, and Cyberpunk 2077 (which is going to be the best game of all time, yes, we’ve joined the bandwagon). After that we’re getting into Netflix’s ‘Witchter’ adaptation, Captain Marvel, the new Joker movie, and the Adventure Time finale. *gets email from Netflix account* Oh yeah, and we’re talking about Iron Fist too. We’re breaking out in the second half of the show with a quick, Sanhok-sized update on PUBG, and digging deep into Destiny 2’s Forsaken and Insomniac’s Spider-Man (it’s amazing, just go buy it already). Thank you for listening! We appreciate the support. Please rate and review if you like the show and we’ll see you all in two weeks!

26 Sep 2018 | 016: A Loser Nerd With A Bowl Cut | 01:32:52
This week we are “Logging On” with some big topics on Gamer Friends, including Animal Crossing coming to Switch, NBA 2K’s microtransactions, Call of Duty killing PUBG (maybe?), and the incoming Sony Classic console. “These Past Two Weeks in Nerdom,” we’re chatting about the new Captain Marvel trailer (while trying not to speak too much on it), Marvel’s rumored limited series TV shows for secondary MCU characters, Iron Fist season 2, and the mess that is the DCEU. Finally, on “The Homescreen,” we dive into Forza Horizon 4’s demo and give some quick updates on Destiny 2. After the break we’re heading into “Party Chat” with a new friend of the show Jen, our resident Spidey expert, to talk about the politics of the new Spider-Man game and superheroes in general. 10 Oct 2018 | 017: 2K Saved My Life | 01:20:31
This week your gamer friends are getting into the continuing saga of the Fortnite cube, news from Oculus, Super Mario Party, Life Is Strange 2, the Harry Potter rumor and KFC Gaming (???) We’re going to get down and nerdy with all things NYCC, including Aquaman, Titans, and Fantastic Beasts and give y’all a healthy dose of Marvel with Dark Phoenix, Venom and Into the Spider-Verse. This week we’re just grazing the surface of Forza Horizon 4 and Assassin's Creed Odyssey and moving onto Big Nick’s first narrative segment for the show! We won’t spoil anything about it here, so you’ll have to listen to check it out! Thank you for listening! We appreciate the support. Please rate and review if you like the show and we’ll see you all in two weeks!
23 Oct 2018 | 018: That Ninja Money | 01:14:53
This week we are diving into Red Dead’s 100-hour work weeks, Black Ops 4, City Skylines, a new Sims expansion, Fallout 76’s stress test and praising the latest Kotaku feature on SonicFox. We get into all things Marvel-related with Iron Fist, Luke Cage, and Daredevil...and maybe speculate on the fate of Jessica Jones. We talk about the new Glass trailer and get real black with our thoughts on the finale of Insecure, Black Panther 2 and Black Widow (according to ScarJo, that counts too). We finish the segment with the controversy surrounding the popular blerd site, Geeks of Color.
Thanks for listening as always and we’ll see y’all in two weeks!
08 Nov 2018 | 019: A Hootin' Hollerin' Yee-Hawin' Morally Questionin’ Good Time | 01:46:06
Gamer Friends returns with a packed episode, and an interview with Big Nick’s IRL best friend, clingypumpkin. ”Logging On,” we went hands-on with Google’s Project Stream, aka the future, and comment on some of the funnier Soulcalibur VI character creations. We’re also disappointed in Battlefield V’s battle royale delay, Fallout 76’s beta (and bugs), CD Projekt Red’s social media team (again), and all of the misogynists on Twitch. “These Past Two Weeks in Nerdom,” we finally finished Iron Fist and started on Daredevil. We also got word of the original Teen Titans returning, a new animated Star Trek show from Justin Roiland, and a mea culpa on Luke Cage. Joining us in “Party Chat,” best friend of the show XXX and your Gamer Friends are all over Red Dead Redemption 2, and maybe talk a little bit about Grand Theft Auto V. Thank you for listening! We appreciate the support. Please rate and review if you like the show and we’ll see you all in two weeks! Relevant Links:
21 Nov 2018 | 020: The Beast Within | 01:25:49
On this episodes of Gamer Friends, your hosts are tackling a metric ton of news (which is pretty unusual for this time of year, tbh). First up “Logging On,” we’re talking Activision’s earnings diss to Bungie, all the Nintendo Direct news, several new game launches including Sims 4: Get Famous, Fallout 76, and Hitman 2, the class action lawsuit against Riot Games, the legendary Prima Game Guides shuttering, an update to the Blizzcon drama, no Sony at #E32019, and finally, the Game Awards. “These Past Two Weeks in Nerdom,” we have to pour one out for the big homie, Stan Lee. Then, we tackle a few news items related to his legacy, including Daredevil S3 and the upcoming Disney streaming service character shows. Instead of “The Homescreen” this week (we’re still playing Assassin’s Creed, Red Dead Redemption 2, and Destiny: Forsaken), we’ve got a long-form interview with indie tabletop game developer Brie Sheldon (@briecs) to discuss their upcoming game, Turn. It was quite the insightful interview and one you will not want to miss! Thank you for listening! We appreciate the support. Please rate and review if you like the show and we’ll see you all in two weeks! Relevant Links: Inside the Culture of Sexism at Riot Games
04 Dec 2018 | 021: Caught Up in the Revolution | 01:10:23
Gamer Friends are taking it easy this episode on a light news week, “Logging On” with an update on the disastrous fallout from Bethesda’s Fallout 76 (sue us), Battlefield V’s struggling sales, Red Dead Online’s debut, and some upcoming expansions for Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey and Destiny 2. :These Past Two Weeks in Nerdom,” we are shocked and dismayed to hear of Daredevil’s cancelation at Netflix (and we’re still not done with season three), and in more frustrating news, Black Lightning showrunner and Neil DeGrasse Tyson deal with sexual misconduct allegations. We do have some good news in early reviews of Into the Spider-Verse, as well as promising trailers for Runaways S2 and Young Justice: Outsiders. Finally, we’re revisiting Detroit: Become Human in “Party Chat” and celebrate Big Nkrumah’s new Playstation 4. We also make sure to at least run through the games we’re playing as well, although it’s a pretty familiar list. We appreciate you tuning in, as always! Please rate and review if you like the show (thanks again to those that have!) and we’ll see you all in two weeks. Relevant Links:
20 Dec 2018 | 022: Blowing Up Consoles | 01:37:03
On the penultimate episode of 2018, your Gamer Friends get a little goofy. “Logging On,” we’re talking Super Smash Bros, recapping The Game Awards (including trailers for Journey to the Savage Planet, Rage 2, Mortal Kombat 11, Marvel: Ultimate Alliance 3, and Far Cry: New Dawn), surprised by leaked player numbers for the PS4, happy to see another Fortnite dance lawsuit, and outline some new competitors to Steam on PC. Next up on “These Past Two Weeks in Nerdom,” we come to terms with the furry uprising and the new Sonic movie poster and put AudioNerd in the hot seat over the epic “Elseworld” Arrowverse crossover event. Naturally, we discuss the second Captain Marvel trailer as well as the (incredible!) first teaser for Avengers: Endgame. Finally, your hosts engage in what is effectively under-hyping “Into the Spider-Verse,” the greatest Spider-Man movie to date. Last but not least, get excited for another interview, this time with Khalil and Ahmed, the developers of the upcoming multiplayer action extravaganza that is Swimsanity. We dive into a deep discussion on the duo’s favorite games, and how they inspire them now as developers. Thanks to all of you for the love and support! We’ll be back in two weeks with our final episode of 2018 — and it’s a big one! Relevant Links:

We’re back from the holiday break and from being sick! Although we’re sliding into your feeds a late this week, we got a jam-packed show for y’all. First up, we’re Logging On with Bungie, Anthem, EA fumbling the Star Wars bag, Sony playing nice with Rocket League, Second Dinner’s new Marvel announcement and Assassin’s Creed DRAMA! There’s a lot going on the world of nerdiness and we’re diving in with all the Spider-Man news including Spider-Verse and Far From Home. We’re also chugging along on the #EndgameConspiracyTrain and Nick is shady towards DC (as per usual). In the Party Chat, we’re getting into all the games we played over the break and debate whether one of them was even a game in the first place. 31 Jan 2019 | 025: Switch Spectacular! | 01:34:08
Gamer Friends is back with the hottest takes from the Anthem VIP Demo! But before we get to The Homescreen, your hosts are Logging On with the launch of Resident Evil 2’s remaster, a Cyberpunk 2077 staffing shake-up, promising news from the Game Developers Conference, and a return to the debate over Sea of Thieves: is it good now? These Past Two Weeks in Nerdom, Big Nick is still crying over the Steven Universe finale, AudioNerd has failed to watch anything on the DC streaming service, and both of your Gamer Friends have slacked on the Marvel TV universe. Finally, some troubling news comes out of Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker movie. As promised, we go into the weeds on the Anthem VIP Demo in The Homescreen. But that isn’t our only promise fulfilled. In Party Chat, our first ever returning featured guest, best friend of the show and her husband (also up there in the rankings), SaraWithAStar and House Trotter! We’re talking everything Switch, including more Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Overcooked 2, Breath of the Wild, Mario Kart 8, and Mario Tennis Aces. On a jam packed episode of Gamer Friends, your hosts are “Logging On” by discussing the near-flawless Apex Legends launch, the recent Jump Force, Anthem, and Division 2 betas, layoffs at Activision Blizzard, Swimsanity’s upcoming public debut, the new Assassin’s Creed III remaster, Metro Exodus’s switch to Epic, and cross-platform play via Xbox Live is apparently incoming. “These Past Two Weeks in Nerdom,” AudioNerd still sucks and hasn’t watched any DC content, but he’s excited to hear about the newly announced Aquaman spinoff and sequel. In Marvel news, we got some new footage from Endgame and Captain Marvel, but we won’t be looking at it. Instead, we’ll focus on the upcoming Marvel animated series, Disney’s decision to put current Foxprojects on ice, and finally, RIP Mr. Oreo. Lastly, in “Party Chat,” we have a repeat-but-not-really guest joining us to go into the weeds on the games we’ve been playing together, including Apex Legends, Anthem, and The Division 2, plus discussing Resident Evil 2’s remaster as GOTY contender! Your Gamer Friends are back at it! “Logging On” gets a little derailed by Anthem-induced stress, but we manage to dive into Devil May Cry 5’s launch, Steam’s most recent controversy, EA’s mishandling of their influencer program, an #E32019 update, Nintendo Labo’s newest offering, Fortnite lawsuit news, Swimsanity’s beta, and the AFL-CIO’s open letter to the video game industry. “These Past Two Weeks in Nerdom,” we officially stan Brie Larson and Captain Marvel, Big Nick shares some geeky theme park news, and we get to ask AudioNerd if he finally watched Titans (for a fourth episode in a row). Finally, on “The Homescreen,” Anthem’s failures have led us to greener pastures in EA’s catalogue, including our continued obsession with Apex Legends, Big Nick’s first foray into the Mass Effect universe, and AudioNerd’s first go at Titanfall 2. It’s a tardy for the party episode of Gamer Friends! This go around we’re “Logging On” with a note on the recent mass shootings in the United States and the implications of blaming violent video games, related and unrelated Call of Duty news, the joint Nintendo, Microsoft, and Sony loot box announcement, Destiny 2: Shadowkeep’s delay, Apex Legends Solo Mode, Mortal Kombat news that doesn’t involve racism, and EA’s Need for Speed: Heat announcement. Moving on to “These Past Two Weeks in Nerdom,” we are explicitly not discussing the Sony/Marvel nonsense until next episode, but we are digging into Rocko’s Modern Life and Invader Zim’s return via Netflix, Amanda Seyfreid’s bad decision, Venom 2 news, and a loving tribute to Toni Morrison. Finally, on “The Homescreen,” it’s been a Rockstar kind of month so far, with Grand Theft Auto V and Red Dead Redemption II on the docket, as well as Apex Legends’ new mode (not just the drama) and Destiny 2’s “Solstice of Heroes” event. It’s delay season for real! Your tardy Gamer Friends have finally gotten caught up on January’s news and we’re happy to report that everyone else is running late, too. “Logging On,” major delays for several AAA titles have been recently announced, including Cyberpunk 2077, Dying Light 2, Marvel’s Avengers, Iron Man VR, and Final Fantasy VII Remake. Meanwhile, Sony is making moves with PlayStation Vue and #E32020, while Stadia is clinging to relevance with some upcoming game announcements. “These Past Two Weeks In Nerdom,” Big Nkrumah is finally committing to watch Star Wars: The Clone Wars, but we’re not so sure about the new Hunger Games prequel books, HBO’s Watchmen, or the new Star Trek series Picard. We’re also talking M.O.D.O.K. On Hulu, Sony’s trailer for Morbius, and Joker’s Oscar nominations haul. And, after literally a year of trying, we finally have friend of the show and Bones of Feet co-founder Professor Dumptruck in “Party Chat” to discuss his love for Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot, Rainbow Six: Seige, life as a pro streamer, and his new campaign to raise money for mental health awareness via Bell Let’s Talk! Your Gamer Friends return with (most but not all) of the news we’ve missed while taking some time to decompress. “Logging On,” The Last of Us II has been released, Sony revealed the PS5, Cyberpunk 2077, Marvel’s Avengers, Nintendo, and EA all held updates/press conferences in lieu of #E32020, Cards Against Humanity, streaming platform Mixer, and Amazon’s Crucible implode, and Big Nkrumah risks cancelation to discuss the long-rumored Harry Potter RPG. “These Past Two Weeks in Nerdom,” COVID continues to thwart the best (and worst) laid plans of Hollywood, Joss Whedon is probably what many of us assumed him to be, and there’s been a wild increase in performative nonsense in response to Black Lives Matter protests enveloping the United States and several other countries. Finally, we’ve been playing some games! Our usual favorites like Apex Legends, Destiny 2, Animal Crossing, Rocket League, and The Sims 4 are all briefly discussed, but AudioNerd has some major news about his racing sim habit as Assetto Corsa Competizione launches on console. As always, we really appreciate the support. Make sure to give us a rating and review, follow us on Instagram, Twitter, or Discord, support us on Patreon, and tell your gamer friends about the show!
