27 May 2022Create Art Out of Tragedy with Jamie Kushner Blicher (@glitterenthusiast)00:29:33
In this week’s episode of the Pretty Little Tribe Podcast, we are joined by Jamie Kushner Blicher. As a self-taught artist, Jamie started creating mixed-media pieces in high school and continued to do so throughout her college years at New York City’s Fashion Institute of Technology.

Then releasing the ink over the paper in a way that builds up color and form through careful gesture and thoughtful placement. The way the ink moves across the paper you can easily imagine a mermaid's tail swishing through the colorful pools of ink.

In this week’s episode of the Pretty Little Tribe Podcast, we are joined by Samantha Dimond. Samantha is the Co-Founder and CEO at Bird&Be, a company revolutionizing the at-home fertility service market.

She also discovered a gap in infertility care, where there was no initial direction on prenatal vitamins or fertility supplements to optimize her health. From there, Samantha took a deep dive into what should be possible to support a generation of parents-to-be.

21 Jan 2022Understand Greif and Finding New Hope with Ashlee Proffitt00:50:51
In this week's episode, we are joined by Ashlee Proffitt. Ashlee is a mother of 4 children here on earth and 1 in heaven. She is the founder of The Morning and host of The Joyful Mourning Podcast.

Ashlee first experienced baby loss in the spring of 2006 when, on her first wedding anniversary, she miscarried her first pregnancy. She knows the deep pain of the words no mother ever wants to hear:  "there is no heartbeat." Two years later, in November of 2008, Ashlee would again enter the space of loss and grief when her perfectly healthy 6-week old son died in his sleep of unknown causes.

As time passed and healing came, as she learned to navigate life after loss, Ashlee longed to help other women who had experienced the loss of a baby. For nearly 10 years Ashlee has been doing that very thing -- coming alongside grieving women, offering tangible resources for this grief journey and reminders that she is loved, she is not alone in her grief and her baby is not forgotten.

18 Dec 2021Healing From a Traumatic Birth with Jessica Veit00:26:27

This episode we are joined by Jessica Veit, IVF warrior and mom of one.

Jessica’s infertility journey was long and full of complications. After 7 years, multiple doctors, 6 rounds of IUI’s, and IVF treatments, she was finally blessed with her son. But unfortunately this wasn’t the end of her difficult journey.

Complications delivering the placenta resulted in a DNC which left Jessica’s uterus scarred. Just a few weeks later she began hemorrhaging. After another, more complicated surgery and a stay in the hospital, doctors told Jessica that she would likely develop Asherman syndrome where scar tissue in the uterus causes it to close.

Join us this week as Jessica shares her fertility story and talks about the challenges of living with Asherman’s.

28 Oct 2021Getting Past the Information Overwhelm with Eran Amir00:34:29

In this episode we are joined by Eran Amir, father of two and creator of GoStork.

Eran always knew he wanted to be a father, and as a gay man, knew he needed to look into surrogacy as an option. At age 40, he knew his biological clock was ticking and decided he didn’t want to wait for a partner to begin his journey. So he started the overwhelming process of researching surrogacy agencies, IVF clinics, egg donor clinics and so much more.

Even though he found his now husband in the middle of the process, he still felt overwhelmed navigating through all of that information. After his first daughter was born, he used his background in software development and product management to create GoStork - a free online platform that connects intended parents to a database of fertility providers. This way he is giving people the option to be informed and compare their options without being overwhelmed with information.

Join us this week Eran tells us about his journey and how he found a solution to the overwhelm of fertility information and options.

23 Sep 2021Allowing Yourself to Feel ft. Monica Bivas00:35:11

This episode we are joined by Monica Bivas, a mindset and holistic fertility coach, speaker, and author of the book The IVF Planner: A Personal Journal to Organize Your Journey Through In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) with Love and Positivity

Monica had never planned on having children until she met her husband and his daughter from a previous marriage. Spending time with her step-daughter sparked her maternal instincts. But when she started trying for a baby at 32, she did not realize it would be such a difficult journey.

Through IVF treatments, Monica was able to have a healthy baby girl, but when they tried for another four years later, her baby was stillborn. Monica tried to push away the grief and fill the hole in her heart by trying for another baby right away. This only caused her more pain and loss. She had to learn how to properly grieve and feel her emotions so that she could heal.

Through her work and her books, Monica creates a safe space for people to fully experience their feelings, good or bad, and believes your mindset plays an important role in your fertility journey.

Join us this week as Monica shares her story of loss and how she had to come to terms with her own feelings before healing and moving on.

27 Aug 2021Seed Cycling, Setting Expectations, Pelvic Floor - Oh My! with Lauren Lobley 00:42:45

Today’s Pretty Little Tribe Episode is JAM PACKED with so many topics, that no one is talking about.

We are joined by Lauren Lobley, a mother of 2 on a mission to support other mamas in this enduring journey through motherhood!

As a certified health coach, published cookbook author and yoga studio co-owner of 5 Point Yoga in Malibu, CA, Lauren's world was rocked off its axis when she became a mom in 2016 to her daughter, Madison Grace. She knew it would be challenging, but she wasn't prepared to be met with feelings that didn't seem welcome: resentment, anger, fear, a deep sense of loss and grief over her identity pre-child, and a sense of confusion as she tried to navigate who she was now.

She identified an inexcusable lack of support by her care providers as a new mother and after the birth of her second child, Liam Edward, in 2019, she decided she wanted to be a part of a movement to change that. The Mom Feed Podcast was born just 6 months after her son was, and with it came raw, honest conversations with experts in all fields pertaining to motherhood and parenting.

Join us as we talk about some very important issues that you need to be aware of and start setting your expectations for!

12 Aug 2021Should You See A Maternal Fetal Medicine Doctor? with Dr. Shannon Clark (@babiesafter35)00:23:08

In today’s Pretty Little Tribe Podcast episode, we are joined by Dr. Shannon Clark, OB/GYN, Maternal-Fetal Medicine Doctor, educator, researcher, TikToker and mother of twins.

After becoming an OB/GYN, Shannon spent an extra three years studying to sub-specialize in Maternal-Fetal Medicine. Despite her excellent bedside manners, Shannon was never fully able to understand her patients until she experienced having a high-risk pregnancy herself.

Shannon and her husband met when they were 38 and began trying for kids after 40. After a miscarriage and five rounds of IVF, Shannon was discouraged from her losses. She was finally able to become pregnant with twins using donor eggs and IVF, but her pregnancy soon became complicated. She delivered at 31 weeks and had both twins spend time in the NICU for 5-6 weeks.

Shannon’s experiences gave her a unique insight into the struggles that her patients go through. Not only does she continue to educate people on everything from high-risk pregnancies to breast feeding on her Tik Tok account, but she is able to do so from a place of personal experience and compassion.

Join us as Shannon shares her specialized knowledge in Maternal Fetal Medicine and answers my questions about high-risk pregnancies.

06 Aug 2021Finding Community During Your TTC Journey with Eloise Edington (@fertility_help_hub)00:26:19

In today’s Pretty Little Tribe Podcast episode, we are joined by Eloise Edington, founder and editor of the Fertility Help Hub, an online resource, podcast, and community app.

When Eloise and her husband were unable to conceive, they discovered that her husband had Klinefelter syndrome and has low testosterone and no sperm count as a result. After deciding on a donor and a few rounds of IVF, Eloise and her husband are now parents of three.

When going through this journey, Eloise found it difficult to find people that she could relate to. Eloise found that knowing at least one other person who had donor children was a comfort to her. She wanted other women to be able to make these connections and also find accurate resources and information. So she created the Fertility Help Hub which consists of a podcast, a website with resources and tips, and a community app so people can connect with others sharing similar struggles.

Join us as Eloise tells us more about the Fertility Help Hub and how she was able to make the community that she wished she had during her journey.

When Tara married her high school sweetheart, everything was going according to plan. They wanted to try for kids before 30, so when she fell pregnant on their first try, she thought everything was going perfect. Until she experienced her first miscarriage on her 29th birthday.

After two more miscarriages, polyp removal, unexplained infertility, three IUI’s, and a whole lot of bargaining with a higher power, Tara’s three year journey finally resulted in a beautiful baby boy. As blessed as she is, Tara still remembers how alone she and her husband felt during this journey, so she created a space to share her own story of motherhood and connect with other moms who are having similar experiences.

Join us as Tara talks about her journey of both loss and infertility and how she learned to go easy on herself.

It wasn’t until a close friend of hers went through IVF that Sandy was able to see how difficult a fertility journey can be. This realization is what drove her to become a fertility coach. Now she is able to help her patients both in the lab and outside in their personal lives.

Join us as Sandy shares her journey to becoming a fertility coach and answers our questions about embryology.
