12 Jun 2019 | 263: How to Reprogram & Repopulate Your Gut Microbiome for Optimal Wellness with Dr. Marvin Singh | 01:00:11
If you’re struggling with your health, chances are it started in your gut. Supporting your microbiome is the first step towards optimal wellness.
What’s in your gut? What is your microbiome? Basically, it’s the community of friendly bacteria living in your gut. And they rule everything - from releasing hormones and neurotransmitters, to affecting how you think and feel. If you take care of them, they will take care of you.
The gut keeps you safe from autoimmune conditions, like multiple sclerosis, and chronic diseases. Why? First, you need to know that 70% of your immune system is in your gut. Inflammation, which is the root cause of disease, begins in the gut microbiome. Your gut bacteria creates inflammatory responses as a result of certain triggers - usually a combination of diet, stress, medications, toxins etc. Chronic inflammation happens when the immune system doesn’t shut off this response, and ends up attacking itself.
By giving the microbiome what it needs, you can stop this inflammatory response, and reverse chronic disease and autoimmune conditions.
The composition of your gut is completely unique to you. That means that your journey to healing will be different to someone else’s. It’s no use simply jumping on the latest health trend. You need to take a closer look at your body to work out the approaches that will work for you. This means working with someone who understands the gut microbiome and how to heal it.
The Gut Doctor Dr. Marvin Singh is an integrative gastroenterologist. He went to med school, but he wasn’t a healthy doctor. He was overweight and had early signs of fatty liver disease. As he reflected on this, he realized how little he knew about nutrition. So he enrolled in an integrative medicine fellowship, and discovered there’s more to health than the standard pharmaceutical methods. He began applying what he’d learnt to his own life and within 3 months he had lost 40 pounds. He realized he could help people heal themselves by taking a comprehensive approach - one that brings together nutrition, genetics and meditation. So now he combines some of the conventional methods with holistic, integrative medicine and nutritional genetics to guide his patients back towards total wellness.
Your Lifestyle and Your Gut Although we’re all different, we all share one commonality: if you give your body the chance to do what it wants to do, what it’s naturally designed to do, then it will do the best it can. The body is designed to heal itself if you give it the tools it needs. And while those tools differ slightly from person to person, there are certain common approaches that will work for everyone. Diet and nutrition play a huge role, but so does your overall quality of life. Dr. Singh begins with a back to basics look at your lifestyle:
Dr. Singh’s Tips for Healing:
Dr. Singh’s message is an optimistic one: everyone can get well, you just have to work with someone who understands you and helps you get to that point. Remember that the path to wellness is not a punishment, you can have fun while learning and trying new things. Check out Dr. Singh’s free e-book, the 4-Week Gut Reset, or send him a message on social media.

Exposure to glyphosate has been linked to neurotoxic effects, oxidative stress, neuroinflammation, and more. It's a scary topic, but it's part of our food system, so we have to address it. Which brings me to today's guest. You remember Shanais Pelka from episode 426. 19 Jun 2018 | 208: How to Step Into Your Truth, Manifest Your Dream Life and Be a Badass Spiritual Boss Babe | 02:03:40
If you have a burning desire to do something different, to leave the grind and wake up feeling passionate about your work, we’ve got just the thing. This episode brings together five powerful lady entrepreneurs who will rock your world.
What do these five gorgeous women have in common? They shunned the traditional 9 to 5 in favor of following their own path and creating a business around serving others.
Because let’s face it. You can eat all the kale you want, but if you’re waking up every morning dreading the commute into a depressing office and a job that doesn’t fulfil you, then you can’t be truly healthy. Because total wellness is about eating well AND living your truth. It’s all connected.
Spiritual Boss Babe Leslie Durso From a very young age, Leslie knew her purpose: to guide and inspire people to live healthier, happier lives, and help them find their smile. She’s a vegan chef, influencer, author, and runs beautiful retreats all over the world.
She truly is following her dreams.
Her number one tip: you have to just keep walking through the fire. One step after the other, just keep going and keep taking steps, however small, towards your goals. That journey begins with the inner work.
After all, your business is who you are in the world. What you put out in your day-to-day will eventually show up in your business. So, who do you want to be? What do you want to create for yourself, and for the world?
Of course, money is part of this journey, but it can’t be the ultimate goal. It’s more like the result of the goal (the goal being to do something you are passionate about). If you make money the goal, you’ll just keep chasing it. You need to chase the goal.
What fills your thoughts, fills your life. The things that you think about the most are the things that happen. Worry is a prayer to chaos. If you keep thinking how crap it is to be single, you’re going to be single. If you keep thinking how much you hate your job, you’re just attracting more of the same. So banish those unhelpful thoughts of self-doubt and fear.
Make a moral handbook for yourself: what do you want for your life? Do you want to help people? Do you want a simple life? Do you want to be by the sea? Do you want to open a retreat? Whatever your dream, visualize it and make it happen!
Leslie’s key takeaway: just be passionate about what you’re doing every single day. Make decisions that bring joy into your life and live with a smile.
Spiritual Boss Babe Danielle Mercurio Danielle Mercurio is a high vibe speaker, comedian and life coach. What does it mean to be a spiritual boss babe? Power… but not in a bad way like corporate power or greed. No, we’re talking universal power here. The personal power of knowing that there is a force within you that makes you unstoppable. That power happens when you blend your spirituality with your work. When you trust the Universe, the Universe conspires to make it happen.
Danielle’s tips to become an unstoppable boss babe:
Spiritual Boss Babe Whitney Lauritsen Whitney Lauritsen is one of our favorite spiritual boss babes. She left her 9 to 5 in 2008 to create Eco Vegan Gal and now, Creative Wellth. She’s been coaching other people to be amazing at social media. Her big mission is to help people eliminate suffering - whether the suffering comes from health or money or emotions.
Whitney’s tips to get centered in a positive space:
Here are some of the takeaways from Whitney’s new talk, Radical Social Media Strategies to Increase the Power and Profit of Your Brand:
Spiritual Boss Babe Lynne Taggart Spiritual success and mindset coach Lynne Taggart helps powerhouse women step out of the hustle and into the flow.
These are some of her best practices to tune into your greatness:
Spiritual Boss Babe Amanda Frances Amanda Frances is a spiritual bad-ass boss babe, and fellow spirit junkie. She’s also a self-made multi-millionaire and soulful business guru to spiritual entrepreneurs all over the world. She takes a no-nonsense approach to living a life of purpose.
She was just the girl who wanted to do something cool with her life. She wanted to help people and make money. But the regular ways just didn’t do it for her.
Having tried all other avenues, Amanda decided to do an experiment. She was only going to do what felt good. She believes that if you desire it, that’s the Universe sending you a message. And it’s your responsibility to just do it. By playing small, you’re not helping those who need you the most. So, take a look at your life, see what you’ve learned and how your experiences can help others.
Amanda’s mission is to empower people to design lives that they are wildly obsessed with. She creates online courses that propel women into entrepreneurship - everything from branding to money mindset to course creation and more. We LOVE her branding - seriously, check out her website.
When Amanda found Gabby Bernstein’s Spirit Junkie Masterclass, she felt like here was this woman living her truth and giving Amanda permission to live her own truth. Powerful stuff. And she’s never looked back. If you’re thinking about taking the masterclass, just follow your heart.
Amanda’s tips for stepping into your entrepreneurial, successful self:

06 Apr 2024 | 470: Rewire Your Reality: How to Heal Emotional Pain and Transform Your Life with Core Wound Mapping | 00:52:07
Have you heard of neuroplasticity? In simple terms, it's the brain's ability to change and adapt due to experience. In more complex terms, it's the ability of neural networks in the brain to change through growth and reorganization. These changes range from individual neuron pathways making new connections to systematic adjustments like cortical remapping or neural oscillation. What it means for us is that when we feel stuck, we can break free by challenging ourselves to do something different, which in turn rewires our brains. Cool, right? My guest today helps people rewire their brains through a process she calls Core Wound Mapping. JJ Flizanes works with conscious, spiritual truth-seekers who want to remove emotional blocks to success. She helps people identify sabotaging patterns and transmute struggle into joy. In this episode, JJ shares that by discovering our core wounds, which usually occur in childhood, we can rewire our brains as adults and break free of old wounds and patterns that are holding us prisoner. This is a two-part episode. Part One is my interview with JJ, and in part two, I am volunteering as tribute! That's right, I'm getting vulnerable. You'll hear JJ take me through a process of uncovering my core wounds and give me some advice on how to let go of the past and move forward with grace and ease and show up better in the world for myself and others. If you like this content, JJ does have a free event where you can learn more. It's an online summit - mark your calendars for April 17th and 18th for her Consciousness Upgrade Summit. 21 Jan 2023 | 405: The Silent Killer: Mold Horror Stories and How to Detox Your Body and Your Home After Mold Exposure | 00:58:16
Black mold, also known as Stachybotrys chartarum, is a type of fungus that can grow in damp or humid environments. It is commonly found in homes, and can have serious health effects on those who are exposed to it. Exposure to black mold can cause a wide range of symptoms, including allergic reactions, respiratory problems, headaches, cold and flu-like symptoms and so much more. People who have a weak immune system, such as children, the elderly, and those with chronic health conditions, are particularly at risk. Long-term exposure to black mold can even lead to serious conditions such as neurological damage and cancer. To detox your body after exposure to black mold, it is important to see a functional medicine practitioner and/or allergist. They will recommend a specific detox protocol based on your body to bring you back into balance. Additionally, it is important to focus on maintaining a healthy lifestyle, including eating a balanced diet, getting enough sleep, and reducing stress. When it comes to mold remediation in your home, it is essential not just to have the mold cleaned up and removed, but also to address the source of the problem. This means finding and fixing any leaks, dampness, or other sources of moisture that may be contributing to the growth of black mold. It is also important to have professionals clean and disinfect any areas where mold is present, and to properly ventilate your home to reduce humidity levels. It is also necessary to bring in a professional mold remediation company to address a severe mold infestation. They will have the expertise and equipment necessary to safely remove mold and prevent its return. It is important to note that black mold should not be taken lightly. Take the necessary steps to remove it and keep it from coming back. It is crucial to take the necessary precautions and to take care of your health and well-being! In this episode, Laura Powers and Allison Melody share their mold exposure stories and what they are doing to detox their homes, offices and bodies and prevent future exposure. 16 Feb 2023 | 407: Health Headlines, Ohio Train Disaster, The Future of Protein is Microalgae, Colonizing Mars, and the Truth About The Martian Film with Yonatan Golan | 00:54:02
Today we've got the health hazards that are not making enough headlines and what you need to know to keep yourself healthy after a disaster. Then I'm talking about the future of plant-based protein with Jonathan Golan and how his company Brevel is making microalgae for the masses. How to Detox After A Chemical Exposure: It's been 13 days since a train carrying toxic chemicals derailed in East Palestine. Fires broke out and residents evacuated. Officials had to burn off a dangerous chemical called vinyl chloride before it could explode, causing a toxic pillar of smoke to tower over the town for days. Unfortunately, the aftermath of the accident is still being felt, with dead fish appearing in the creeks, and local residents reporting sudden deaths of chickens and illnesses in their pets. If you have been affected by this disaster, it is imperative that you take your health back into your own hands and start a detox protocol. Make sure to drink filtered water, which can remove some of the contaminants. Using an air purifier in your home with an UltraHEPA filter, can also help reduce exposure to the dangerous chemicals in the air. Taking supplements like nascent iodine, superfoods, and probiotics can assist your body in the detoxings. We may not be able to control the disaster itself, but we can control our own health and safety by taking steps to limit our exposure to dangerous chemicals. The Future of Protein is Microalgae: Yonatan Golan is passionate about making the world a better place through sustainable nutrition, social change and cutting edge science. With his brothers he founded the company Brevel. Brevel makes microalgae alternative protein which is affordable, flavor and color neutral, highly functional, sustainable and scalable. Brevel is providing microalgae based alternative protein which is affordable, flavor and color neutral, highly functional, sustainable and at consistent and scalable production. Today we discuss why the future of protein is microalgae, colonizing Mars, and the truth about The Martian film with Matt Damon. Thank You to Our Sponsors! 14 Jan 2025 | 492: LA is Burning: My Personal Evacuation Experience of Fire, Ash, and Hope | 00:29:06
Thank you to everyone who reached out to check on me—I’m safe. For those who don’t know, I was just a few miles away from the Palisades fires in Los Angeles and had to evacuate twice with three dogs. Thankfully, we all made it out safely. My heart breaks for this city and those who’ve lost so much. When the fires began, I was at my co-working space. My friend texted me that the Pacific Palisades were on fire. I raced back to Santa Monica, where I was staying, to get my dog Lily and the two I was dog-sitting, Max and Annabelle, to safety. Smoke filled the air, and the fires raged nearby. I packed essentials and the family’s keepsakes, loaded the dogs, and headed to Pasadena, where my friend Debby had offered her home. The relief didn’t last. Power outages, heavy smoke, and another nearby fire made it clear we needed to leave. We drove to Palm Springs, battling intense winds, closed gas stations, and a surreal, apocalyptic landscape. Finally, we arrived at a client’s home, safe but shaken. The dogs settled in, but my nervous system stayed in fight-or-flight mode. Back in LA, I’m heartbroken for those who’ve lost everything—their homes, pets, and loved ones. Many had their fire insurance canceled just before the disaster. The emotional and physical toll of this tragedy is immense, and I’m dedicating my platform to sharing resources and exploring how we can heal and protect our health from the long-term effects of smoke and toxins. If you want to help, consider donating to shelters or GoFundMe campaigns. I’m personally collecting supplies for displaced animals and delivering them across LA. You can Venmo @melodyproductions to contribute. Together, we can make a difference for those in need. Love to you all and prayers for everyone affected. Cheers to your good health.

04 Sep 2018 | 218: Two Vegan Vixens Share the Secrets to Healing Acid Reflux, Getting Rid of Eczema and Going Plant-Based | 01:03:48
It’s never been easier to go plant-based. More importantly, there’s never been a better time to do it. Faced with an epidemic of disease and the threat of global warming, it’s the one thing all of us can do to make a positive difference - both for our health, and the planet. Today’s two guests made the shift to veganism after watching the groundbreaking (and super powerful) documentary Earthlings. Now, they want to help other people transition to plant-based living, and better health. Melissa is a plant-powered personal chef and founder of ForkinPlants. We’re so inspired by her story. After studying healthcare and working in an office for years, she quit her 9 to 5 to follow her dreams and focus on her passions: cooking and helping people live healthy lives. But she wasn’t always on this vibe. In fact, before going vegan she used to eat cheese out of a can! Fifteen years ago, she had to take a 14-day course of antibiotics to clear an H-Pylori stomach infection. The result was a destroyed digestive system, chronic acid reflux and really bad eczema. Through research and Chinese medicine, she discovered that some of the top superfoods, like turmeric, were actually making her condition worse. Now, having healed herself through food, she helps others do the same. Read her blog post to find out how she healed her skin issues. Elana’s journey is similar. She suffered from chronic acid reflux from the age of 16. Of course, doctors just gave her a pill to take and unsurprisingly, this didn’t work long-term. She had her light-bulb moment at a retreat where the host made everyone watch Earthlings. Now vegan and healthy, Elana is a plant-based influencer and foodie, spreading vegan holistic health knowledge to those who need it most. She runs vegan events, and is about to quit her office job to follow her passion full-time. Her website Klean-Slate focuses on being real about food - because let’s face it, it’s not about being perfect, it’s about making small sustainable changes that last. Check out Episode 120 for Elana’s first appearance on the show, where she shares tips to rebalance your gut microflora. Our favorite vegan substitutes: Milk:

18 Sep 2019 | 275: Detox, Renew, Recharge and Rejuvenate with Lifestyle Cleanse Expert Elissa Goodman | 00:59:46
What does it mean to cleanse? For many, the word throws up images of green juices and fasting. But that’s not quite accurate. You might be surprised to learn that you can cleanse in a gentler way. But you also need to go beyond diet if you want to really reset your body.
Elissa Goodman looks 20 years younger than her age (59), you might think she’s been blessed with great genes. But she was not the healthiest child. She had a low immune system and was always sick. She got every type of virus, digestive issues, tonsillitis, chickenpox, chronic fatigue - you name it, she had it. To make matters worse, she felt unworthy compared to her high-achieving Type A personality parents.
Fast-forward to adulthood, Elissa went to college, got into advertising, and climbed that corporate ladder because she was determined to make her parents proud. But she wasn’t following her passion or purpose. She just worked. And got sicker. And one day she was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma.
She knew that this was because she’d been sick most of her life and that her lymphatic system was full of toxins that she’d been unable to clear. But she hadn’t thought of the emotional aspect. The doctors she saw first just talked of chemo and freezing her eggs. But one of them was different. He sat her down and asked: Are you happy? Are you doing what you love? It was a turning point.
Elissa realized how miserable she’d been in her job and how much she disliked herself. She knew something had to change. She went 100% vegan, she started doing yoga, she went into talk therapy, and do emotional release work. She got rid of her cancer, but the radiation caused hypothyroidism. Then she was diagnosed with Hashimoto’s and celiac (two autoimmune conditions). And then her husband died of cancer. It was like a cascade of traumatic life events. That’s when she decided to go back to school and learn about nutrition so she could help her daughters stay healthy.
And that was it - she never looked back. She became a cleanse expert to help as many people as possible get healthy the easy way. Like her 1-week soup cleanse, which contains 45 different vegetables, is totally vegan and free from anything processed or GMO. She helps her clients to reset their body and brain so they can rejuvenate, re-energize, heal, and maintain a new, healthy lifestyle long-term.
Here are some of Elissa’s tips to reset your body:
Cleansing is so important because it also allows you to step away from addictive foods so that you can crave healthy, whole, plant foods. However, cleansing is emotional as well as nutritional.
Have you dealt with your trauma? Because no matter how clean your diet, you can still get sick if you have emotional issues you haven’t dealt with. Here are Elissa’s tips to start letting go of those trauma toxins:

31 Oct 2018 | 228: Halloween Special: Ghost Stories and How to Clear Inherited DNA | 00:37:59
It’s Halloween, so what better time to talk about ghosts and why they visit us? Some are our guardian angels. Some are stuck here. Some are malevolent, locked in this dimension by negative patterns. But ghosts aren’t the only thing that affect our present.
Many of our core beliefs, emotional traumas and even illness are passed down from our ancestors in our DNA.
Three years ago Roxy had a chance meeting with a clairvoyant who told her there’s a curse on the women’s side of her family. A curse on love. This made Roxy think about her own relationships. Are curses at play?
Do curses really exist?
According to Lisa, they do. There are different types of beings on the other side of the veil. Some have never had a body or been to earth, and follow the dark side. Some are spirits who have lived on earth before, but who have stayed earthbound - sometimes because of drug addiction, anger, revenge, guilt. Some are assigned as our guardian angels. Others are here because they are trying to teach us something. Some simply don’t know how to get back.
Whatever the reason, they can be cleared. Either through an energy clearing, or by accepting the gift they are trying to communicate. You can free yourself from inherited trauma, and help ghosts return to the other side. Lisa Thomas is a world-renown transformational energy healer who specializes in healing ancestral DNA and clearing old patterns. Check out Episode 215 for her story and tips to heal your inherited DNA.
If you want to book a DNA clearing, go to www.foodhealsnation.com/lisa to get on the list. Check out Lisa’s website and get your free meditation to Release Inherited Money Blocks, a great tool to unblock your limiting belief about money, clear your energy and prepare your body for healing.

28 Nov 2017 | 180: Stop Overeating, Cure Asthma Naturally & Create a Life You Love with Biz Women Rock’s Katie Krimitsos | 01:11:16
Growing up, Katie’s family, like many, showed love through big portions of low-quality food. During her childhood, Katie was an athlete, exercising up to 6 hours a day and eating whatever she wanted. However, once she got to college, she gained 60 pounds. She fell in love with feminism and used it to present a mask of not caring about her weight. Deep down she wasn’t happy with her body and her relationship with food became dysfunctional. Suffering from a combination of overeating, bulimia, and exercisorexia, her days were focused around working out, eating food and avoiding food. She was able to overcome her eating disorder thank to the Overeaters Anonymous 12-step program. Katie learned that freedom isn’t as much about not having any boundaries, but more about creating boundaries that help you be the best version of yourself. 14 Jan 2023 | 404: Chinese Medicine Secrets: Ancient Healing Remedies, Food As Medicine, and Eating Right For Your Body with Juli Kramer | 01:02:33
What do you do when you go to your doctor for help with a chronic condition and he says microwaving your body is your own option to feel better? In my opinion you get the f**k out. That's exactly what today's guest Juli Kramer did and luckily - lived to tell about it! During her early 40s, Juli Kramer experienced severe gynecological problems with debilitating physical symptoms. Her doctor's solution was microwave treatment. Juli asked, “But aren't my symptoms telling me something?” Her doctor’s reply shocked her. Juli was told her symptoms didn't matter, and that the microwave treatment would eliminate them. This made no sense to her. (This is a girl who doesn't even microwave her food, much less her body!) Juli realized that her body was desperately trying to tell her that something was seriously wrong. But, all her doctor cared about was treating the symptoms instead of getting to the root cause of the problem and resolving that. She knew there must be a better way and she set out to find it. Little did she know, the answers would be found in the ancient secrets of chinese medicine. Today, Dr. Juli Kramer is a certified qi gong, meditation, and TCM beauty secrets instructor. She holds a diploma in Chinese Medicine Nutritional Therapy and multiple certificates in Chinese medicine. Juli also has a Ph.D. in Curriculum and Counseling Psychology. Her goal is to help you feel happier, look better and live longer by sharing with you the health benefits of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Thank You to Our Sponsors! 03 Oct 2018 | 222: Love Your Face No Matter Your Age - Surgery-Free Anti-Aging Secrets From Pro-Aging Expert Lori Hart | 01:20:21
First of all, who made aging bad? We all get older, there’s no getting away from it. But we can do it with grace and ease. Between the ads, the movie stars, the instagrams, the magazines, the voices in our own head, the fact is we don’t feel good about ourselves. And as we get older, it gets worse. Instead of loving our wisdom and our journeys, instead of enjoying our life, we hate ourselves for every new wrinkle. So we run to the doctor and get fillers and injectables and lasers and Botox. But that isn’t the answer.
Lori Hart felt insecure about her body when she was young, and in her 20’s, she got talked into having liposuction. But the result was gastroparesis (paralysis of stomach muscles). She decided there and then she wanted to help women love themselves, and achieve gorgeous skin - naturally.
So what can we do for flawless, glowing skin?
Lori’s tips for youthful skin:
Lori’s mineral make-up includes sunblock that blocks UV rays, which means you can be in the sun all day without having to worry. And the best bit? Lori can even customize it for your unique skin. No additives, no fillers, just natural ingredients, crushed rocks and gemstones. This means you get the energetic vibration of crystals like peridot and tourmaline, combined with ingredients that heal and support your skin.
Lori’s cleansing device not only cleanses your skin by pulling toxins out, it has 4 settings that help skincare products penetrate deep enough to make a difference. Her other skincare device is an ultrasound micro-dermabrasive blade that removes all the microscopic grime and gives you a natural facelift, leaving your skin looking and feeling beautifully smooth.
If you want more info about the best skincare routine for you, book a skype with Lori, email her at lori@lorihart.com, or give her a call on 310 610 3449.
Get Rid of Your Acne And if you suffer from breakouts, then you’ll love the Banish skincare range. Remember Daisy, from Episode 220? She grew up with acne and scarring since 3rd grade. After trying product after product, she found out that some of the ingredients in anti-acne products actually made her skin worse. So she created a brand of skincare without harmful or irritating chemicals. Now, her skin is glowing, smooth, and completely gorgeous.
The Banish Kit contains everything you need to banish acne and scars, fade uneven texture and hyperpigmentation, and reduce wrinkles:
Banish products are made fresh to order, using only natural ingredients. And if you’re not completely satisfied, there’s a 30-day money back guarantee. Head to Banish.com and get $10 off your first order with coupon code foodhealsnation.

21 May 2019 | 259: How Hal Elrod Healed Cancer and Overcame Two near Death Experiences | 00:50:47
What if every day you could elevate your consciousness, and create miracles in your life? Beating cancer can seem like a miracle. But it IS possible, and Hal Elrod is proof of this.
When Hal was 20, he had a car crash and died - he was clinically dead for 6-minutes. When he woke up from a 6-day coma, he found out he had 11 broken bones, brain damage and, according to the doctors, was never going to walk again. But he decided right there to maintain the faith that he was going to walk, and that he was going to do everything in his power to make it happen. Within 3 weeks of the car crash, he was taking his first steps. That marked the beginning of his life’s work. But it wasn’t an easy ride.
In 2007 Hal was in a tough spot. He’d lost half his clients, lost his house, he was broke and depressed. So he started looking into what the world’s most successful people do, and designed a morning ritual of self-improvement. Within 2 months, he’d doubled his income, completed an ultra-marathon, overcome depression and totally changed his life. To his wife, he said “It feels like a miracle.” That’s how The Miracle Morning was born.
You might feel that you’re not a morning person - most of us feel the same! But how you begin your day will either put you in a sub-optimal physical, mental and emotional state, or an optimal one. Start your day at your best, and you can give your best in everything you do. This will reflect in every aspect of your life. But how? You need simple, daily strategies that can be easily implemented. In The Miracle Morning e-book, Hal breaks down exactly what you need to do to begin uplifting your mornings, and uplifting your life.
But that’s only the beginning of the story.
Just 2 years ago, Hal was diagnosed with acute lymphotoxin leukemia - a rare cancer with a 30% survival rate. Not only that, but Hal also had a genetic condition that caused his cells to divide and replicate rapidly, making the cancer spread even faster. He had a collapsed lung, his kidneys were failing, and his heart was surrounded with fluid. He was told he had a 70-90% chance of dying within a few months. Going without chemo was not an option - his oncologist told him that the cancer was too fast, and if he didn’t have chemo, he would die within a week. After doing his research, Hal decided to have the treatment, while at the same time implementing every holistic practice he could to counter the negative effects. And it worked. The cancer went into remission.
Hal’s cancer-healing process:
Beyond all these methods is mindset. You need to believe that you can beat cancer:
Hal’s new book, The Miracle Equation: The Two Decision That Move Your Biggest Goals from Possible to Probably to Inevitable, is your process for goal achievement. It will help you step out of your comfort zone to pursue your biggest goals and dreams. Use it in conjunction with The Miracle Morning and you can achieve anything you set your mind to.

08 Jan 2019 | 238: Transform Yourself From The Outside In With Makeover & Dating Expert Kimberly Seltzer | 01:02:19
New year, new you! We always feel like a makeover is needed in January. So what better way to begin 2019 than with style coach Kimberly Seltzer?
You might not realize it, but your outfits are more than just clothes. They say a lot about you. They can keep you feeling down, block love, and give away your power. Yes, really. Wearing muted colors, going for the bigger size, wrapping up in layers all send a strong message, both to the outside world and to yourself: that you are not confident and are not comfortable in your own skin. From that space, implementing positive change is an uphill struggle.
Often, we’re told that if we work on what’s on the inside - our mindset - we can transform what’s on the outside. But this can work the other way too: a great outfit can make you feel empowered, and over time this boosts your confidence and improves your mindset, so you can attract what you want - whether it’s in love or in business. If you work on both your mindset and your wardrobe, transformation gets much faster. Kim knows about this first-hand.
Twenty years ago, she was a traditional therapist - in other words, she was totally focused on the inner work side of things. But life happened, she got a divorce. Life as she knew it was over. Her mood was so low she couldn’t even get out of bed, let alone be a helpful therapist. Despite her knowledge of talking therapy, she couldn’t get out of her own way or change how she felt. One day, she looked in the mirror. And she was horrified. Frumpy, wearing oversized clothes, a nursing bra and Birkenstocks. She looked like her mindset: sad, and hiding in a cocoon of black. So she went shopping. Luckily, a personal shopper saw her picking out her usual uniform and intervened with a sexy little red dress. This chance encounter changed Kim’s life forever. She suddenly felt like herself again. Her confidence started growing. And the rest is history. Now, Kim is determined to help others reconnect with themselves and find their perfect partner.

21 Mar 2017 | 141: Eco-Entrepreneurship, Vegan Brownies and How to be Plant-Based on a Budget | 00:58:14
Our guest today is vegan eco-entrepreneur Charlie Fyffe, founder of Charlie’s Brownies, an organic, ethical company that makes dairy-free, refined-sugar-free, gluten-free brownies Discover how Charlie followed his dreams, and how he helps others do the same. Our guest today has been an entrepreneur since his early teens. Always a wheeler-dealer, Charlie Fyffe would sell Gatorade and give car rides in high school to make extra money. Having always loved brownies, selling them seemed a natural progression, and Charlies Brownies was born. But seeing that some people couldn’t enjoy the brownies made Charlie want to create a product that was not only delicious, but healthy and ethical as well. Charlie’s Brownies now makes organic, gluten-free, refined-sugar-free, vegan cupcakes (and we tasted them – they will blow you away). Charlie’s even working on a lower GI version for diabetics. And what about “special” brownies? You’ll have to listen to the episode for our take on that! But Charlie does more than simply make amazing cakes. He also helps to revitalize the health and eating habits of underserved communities. This can be incredibly challenging in communities where there are no health food shop and where the nicest building houses a fast food restaurant. But Charlie is undeterred—there are ways to be plant-based on a budget. Charlie also gives talks about entrepreneurship, to encourage young people to follow their dreams: there is an alternative to the dead-end job option! Food is everything for Charlie, he loves to teach people how what they eat and what they invest in affects them, their communities, the farmers and the earth. We have a choice every time we eat: we need to invest in food that is renewable, sustainable, and socially responsible. Food that supports the planet and conserves the earth for future generations: Plant-based food. You can make big changes every day, through the food you choose to buy and eat. And for Charlie, this sustainable way of life can be delicious. Come and check out Charlie’s Brownies at the LA Vegan Street Fair on 26th March where he’ll be launching three new mystery products! You can buy Charlie’s Brownies in Yoga Urt in Glendale or if you want to order send Charlie a message. 10 Jul 2024 | 485: Doctors Gone Rogue 4: Prescribing Plants Over Pills: Holistic Heart Health with Dr. Joel Kahn and Honoring the Legacy of Dr. John McDougall | 02:07:15
In our final episode of the "Doctors Gone Rogue" series, we’re paying tribute to a true legend in the field of holistic medicine. Today, we honor the remarkable legacy of Dr. John McDougall, who passed away last month. I'm also excited to feature the incredible work of Dr. Joel Kahn, known as "America’s Healthy Heart Doc." Both are plant-based doctors who believe in food as medicine. First up, let’s talk about Dr. Joel Kahn. Dr. Kahn transitioned from traditional cardiology to holistic practices after experiencing the profound benefits of a plant-based vegan diet himself. Believing in the power of nutrition for heart health, he now focuses on non-traditional diagnostic tools and prevention tactics. This interview feels more like a night at the Laugh Factory than a conversation with a cardiologist! Dr. Kahn’s blend of facts and humor had us in stitches as we covered topics like nutrition, longevity, sex, stress, and “how not to die!” Next, we turn our attention to the beloved Dr. John McDougall. A physician and nutrition expert, Dr. McDougall dedicated his life to teaching the power of a whole-food, starch-based diet in preventing and reversing chronic diseases. His journey began after a massive stroke at age 18, which led him to embrace holistic, plant-based nutrition as a path to true healing. Dr. McDougall’s legacy is monumental. He founded the renowned McDougall Program, authored best-selling books, and passionately advocated for dietary therapy as a cornerstone of health. His impact on the medical community and the lives of countless patients is immeasurable. On June 25th, Dr. McDougall’s daughter, Heather McDougall, announced his passing. Dr. McDougall leaves behind quite the legacy, and we re-play this interview to honor that legacy today. So, let’s dive into this special episode, the final episode of the "Doctors Gone Rogue" series, honoring the legacies of Dr. Joel Kahn and Dr. John McDougall. These two plant-based doctors are living proof of the healing power of nutrition. They have bucked the traditional route of medicine and truly embody the notion that food heals. 28 Apr 2023 | 421: Escaping Abuse and Two Near Death Experiences (The Most Shocking Stories We’ve Ever Heard on Food Heals - Part 1) | 01:39:43
Throughout the years, we have heard some crazy and sometimes shocking stories on Food Heals. In this series, we're sharing the best of the best. You'll hear about a woman who had only 11 hours to escape from an abusive husband with her daughter in tow without letting him find out. You'll also hear from an actress who survived not one but TWO near-death experiences, a basketball player who proved that you don’t need meat for muscle and can be a healthy, athletic vegan, a health coach who discovered where parasites really live in the body and how to remove them for good (hint: it's not pretty), and undercover investigators who endured witnessing animal cruelty to shed light on animal abuse and change the laws around factory farming. In the first episode in the series, the Alli and Suzy throw it back to episodes 194 and 126, where they interview two inspiring women who have overcome shocking, difficult challenges in their lives. In Part 1, they speak with Rosie Aiello, a survivor of an abusive relationship who eventually made "the great escape" from her abusive husband with her daughter in tow. Rosie is now a successful entrepreneur, coach, and author who is on a mission to help other women escape abusive relationships and thrive. In Part 2, they interview Maura Knowles, a survivor of two near-death experiences who turned her health struggles into a musical comedy and a line of healthy treats. Maura Knowles lay on the operating table, awake. A routine procedure that should have taken a few minutes had turned into a life-threatening operation. She was only 20. Everything that could have gone wrong in hospital, did—pancreatitis, infections, misdiagnoses, you name it. She survived not one near death experience, but two! Her fighting spirit and the support of her family pulled her through. Thank You to Our Sponsors! Who else wants free Vitamin D for a year? Say goodbye to piles of pills and countless powders. 06 May 2021 | 330: Manifest True Love, Master Your Mind, and Elevate Your Energy with Stephanie Kwong | 01:11:05
Stephanis was gutted. “Online now - DM me” is what her boyfriend’s Match.com profile said.
The man she was living with, the man that she talked about marriage and family with - was on the prowl. Not only that, but the profile said that he had just broken up with his girlfriend. It said she was not “the one”.
Shocked and heart-broken, Stephanie packed her things and moved out, but not before making an important observation. This was the fourth man who had cheated on her. The common denominator? Her. Why did she continually attract men into her life who wound up being unfaithful? Was it because she wasn’t showing herself the unconditional love that she craved?
A light switch went off and Stephanie went on a mission of seeking the truth, cultivating self-love practices, and learning how to rewire her subconscious mind to attract the things and people she truly wanted (and deserved) into her life.
Can you relate?
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to live your life as a master of your mind and energy? What if you could manifest true love, happiness, and success in all areas of your life? What if you could become the best version of yourself possible?
Every day, Stephanie is helping more and more people do this very thing. Through her innovative techniques as a Rewiring Coach, Hypnotherapist, NLP Practitioner, Breathwork Facilitator, and Host of the Rise Higher Podcast, Stephanie helps people just like you break through the invisible inner barriers holding them back from reaching their goals. 19 Feb 2019 | 245: Veganize Your Wardrobe: The Future of Fashion is Cruelty-free, Sustainable and Ethical | 00:54:17
We all love a good outfit. But fashion is cruel to animals, cruel to people and cruel to the planet. Especially luxury fashion, which is synonymous with fur, cashmere, leather, angora and silk. Can fashion ever be compassionate? It can now.
Meg and Komie were raised vegetarian. From a very young age they understood that animals are not here for food. Also from a young age, they loved nothing more than customizing their outfits. As they started shopping, they found it nearly impossible to find clothes they liked that were also cruelty-free. That’s why they created Delikate Rayne, a 100% vegan, sustainable, luxury clothing line made in LA. Their mission: to make a positive impact and give back through something people love - great fashion! And they’re spreading the message, having recently been featured in the prominent fashion publication PAPER.
What’s so wrong with fast fashion? Firstly, the impact on animals: it’s a myth that fur and leather are by-products of the meat industry. Animals are raised specifically for that purpose, they are confined in tiny cages, tortured and slaughtered for their skin. Secondly, the impact on the environment. Constantly changing trends mean there is an incredible amount of waste. The process of dying fabrics pollutes water. And finally, the social impact. If you’re paying $10 for a t-shirt, how much is the person who made it getting paid?
The solution? To go for a brand that is vegan, affordable, sustainable AND gorgeous… we love Delikate Rayne’s fashion range that ticks all these boxes.
Meg and Komie’s tips for green shopping and living:
Check out Delikate Rayne’s game changer movement in partnership with PETA.

Despite their controversial reputation, psychedelics are being widely used by doctors, shamans, retreat leaders, and more across the world to treat trauma and PTSD. Whether it's Psilocybin, Ayahuasca, or another form of plant medicine, rapid healing can occur when using these medicinal plants. So, how do we learn to unlock the rapid healing power of these psychedelics? Imagine addressing lifelong trauma, PTSD, addiction, and more within minutes, without the need for years of traditional therapy. Contemplating questions like these inspired this three-part series on Food Heals, where we discuss the healing power of plant medicine. In this series, you'll hear brand-new interviews with leading experts in the field of psychedelics who share their personal healing journey, as well as how you can access the power of plants to heal yourself. Whether you want to grow medicine at home like Paul taught us last time or go to a retreat center like Derek will tell us about today, there is an option for you to explore if plant medicine is right for you. In the first episode of this series, you heard from Paul Austin, the CEO of Third Wave, a pioneer reshaping our perceptions of psychedelics and guiding on growing your own plant medicine at home. In today's episode, part two of our series, I'm talking to Derek Januszewski, the founder of Pachamama Sanctuary, an Ayahuasca retreat center. He'll share the story of how plant medicine assisted in his journey to overcome childhood abuse and a decade-long battle with addiction. Through intense inner work, extensive engagement with medicine, and countless hours of service, Derek has healed much of his trauma. The spiritual healing he received through plant medicine inspired him to start Pachamama Sanctuary, aiming to help others find their own path to health and happiness. Pachamama Sanctuary, an Ayahuasca center in Southern Maine, was founded in 2019. Since its inception, its mission has been to elevate collective consciousness through the sacrament of Ayahuasca—a tea derived from plants in the Amazon rainforest. It has facilitated profound insights and clarity into past traumas, offering a chance for peace, especially for those grappling with addiction, PTSD, or negative cycles. Stay tuned for part 3, where I speak with former police officer Nick Motycka, who healed 15 years' worth of job-related trauma. He transitioned from being clinically diagnosed with severe PTSD to no longer meeting the criteria for a diagnosis through the use of plant medicine. Thank You to Our Sponsors! 16 May 2024 | 478: The Red Pill Revolution: Exposing The Illusion and Hidden Agendas with Dr. Jeremy Ayres and John Gusty | 01:10:55
Why are alcohol and tobacco legal, but psychedelics outlawed? Why are antidepressants handed out like candy? Why is something as addictive as sugar promoted on the “healthy eating” guide? We are constantly reminded that our noble leaders and institutions are busy working on solutions. Surely, the scary world of today must give way to a future of peace and prosperity... someday soon! But of course, it never happens, does it? New wars are justified, countries are bombed, citizens flee around the world, epidemics and famines come and go, oil is spilled, rainforests are cleared, stocks go up, and all the while people everywhere seem to be getting sicker and weaker. The same question always hangs over everything: with all the taxes we pay and all the great advances in technology and learning, why doesn’t it ever seem to get better? The most obvious answer must be that a better world was never the intention. If you look carefully, the situation everywhere seems to be getting worse. That can only be deliberate. We are told that the world is making progress, but the reality is that it gets better only for a select few. By any sensible measure, the rest of us are constantly slipping further into physical, mental, and spiritual sickness. ILLNESS MUST BE PART OF THE PLAN. Enter Dr. Jeremy Ayres and John Gusty, co-authors of The Red Pill Revolution and today's guests on Food Heals. This book may be a hard pill to swallow, but it's a necessary conversation for anyone wishing to sanely navigate the chaotic and predatory culture we all find ourselves in. We all know something is just not right. We all sense the imbalance, injustice, and insanity. But what can we actually do about it? Who and what can be trusted? Most of what is discussed in this book would never make its way into mainstream corporate media. This is not only the problem but also the solution. 21 Jun 2018 | 209: Money Mindset: How to Step Out of the Hustle, Get Into Flow & Create A Successful Career | 01:27:50
Lynne Taggart works with spiritual entrepreneurs, deep diving into the inner work most of us avoid doing, to make their business super successful. Alli met Lynne at Level 3 of Spirit Junkie Masterclass. Until then, Lynne had held back. She did most of her work online because she didn’t feel ready to be that visible. But during a mastermind with Gabby Bernstein, Lynne realized she was being called to do more in-person work. Lynne had to go through her own shifts before becoming a coach. She’d always been an entrepreneur, running her own fashion shop since she was 23. But despite her success, she was unhappy, insecure, anxious and burned out. She closed the shop to become a stay at home mom, and fell into coaching because it was something she could easily do remotely. At first, she didn’t think about it as a business, but when she saw the potential for emotional growth and transformation, she knew she had found her calling. Now Lynne runs events to help other women shift into who they are truly meant to be and reach their full potential. She helps her clients create a soulful online business and become unapologetically abundant. How can you attract this abundance into your life? Well, first you need to tap into your purpose. What is it that you’re here to do? Don’t compare yourself to what other people are doing, figure out what YOU love to do. When you tap into the fact that we live in an abundant Universe, you realize it’s ok to charge for your gifts, to put your prices up, to earn a paycheck from your passion. When you tap into the flow, it’s easier to realize what you want. You need to change your energy to match what it is you want to attract into your life. You might want success, but are you ready for it? There’s a huge difference between hustle and flow. It’s so easy for us to get stuck in the hustle - we’re busy, we’re rushing one place to the next, we’re getting through our 2-mile-long-to-do-list. But it’s hard to get inspired in that space. Flow is where ideas come to you: when you’re meditating, when you’re in the present and connected to the now. Lynne’s secrets to manifest more abundance:
Gabby Bernstein’s Principles for Running a Spiritual Business You’ve seen what’s happening in the world, felt it deep, empathized with it, and held it within you. And that sent you a message - let’s go. Shine bright. Go big. But to go big, you need money. Not just to pay your bills, but to nurture yourself, to give back, to really be abundant. But if you stay within the energy of “I need to pay my bills” you’re still in fear. Because there are infinite possibilities for abundance. Even getting fired is simply the Universe setting you free to start your heart-centered business. The same goes for debt. Debt is just a lesson you need to learn, something that needs to be healed. So be grateful for it. Thank it for teaching you, thank it for decreasing. Once you learn the lesson, the debt will disappear. We can all have a quantum shift around money. You can heal your money mindset. So tell yourself “I can earn,” “I can do this.” That will create a new story, and that sends out a vibration to the world: you’re ready for abundance. Money is not complicated. You’re either coming at it from fear or love. If you’re fearful around money, you block it. If you’re in fear of money, it is because you have disconnected from spirit. You’re relying on your own strength. You need to reconnect with the Universe. So ask it: Show me how I can show up. Show me creative possibilities for abundance. Show me how I can serve. Because when your work revolves around love, money flows. Your business needs to be about love, because love is a magnet, and it multiplies… and it is the only currency. Your money situation, your business, your relationships, your body… everything is a reflection of your spiritual condition and your spiritual relationship. In order to create abundance, we must believe in creative possibilities. And if you want to follow your dream of starting up your own business, you really must check out Gabby Bernstein’s latest video, where she shares a special invitation, a shout-out to all those who want to inspire others by doing what inspires them. Gabby Bernstein’s Spirit Junkie Digital Masterclass will give you all the tools you need to gain the confidence you need to own your purpose, take spiritually aligned action, and create massive transformations in your career and your life. 27 Aug 2021 | 340: No More Hot Flashes! The New Science of Food, Hormones, and Health with Dr. Neal Barnard | 01:07:38
There is good news for women aged 45 and over: A new research study shows that women can get prompt relief from the most severe and troubling menopause symptoms without drugs. WHAT?! That’s right! In our latest episode of Food Heals Allison Melody talks to PCRM President Dr. Neal Barnard, author of Your Body in Balance: The New Science of Food, Hormones, and Health. In his latest study, his research team found a way to knock out hot flashes using just a simple diet change. As many as 80% of postmenopausal women suffer from hot flashes. Heat wells up from the chest, causing flushing, sweating, and chills. At night, hot flashes interfere with sleep. Estrogen-based medications were once routinely used to treat hot flashes but have been shown to increase the risk of breast cancer and other serious problems. Isoflavone extracts from soybeans work only modestly, leaving women and their doctors with few effective options. A new study, published by the North American Menopause Society in the journal Menopause, found a powerful new diet approach that reduces moderate-to-severe hot flashes more than 80%, from nearly five per day to less than one per day. During the 12-week study, nearly 60% of women became totally free of moderate-to-severe hot flashes. Tune in to learn:

10 Jan 2024 | 458: The Truth About "The Secret," How Guided Meditation Helps You Trust Your Intuition, and How To Reach Your Goal in 100 Days (New Years 2024 Series Part 2) | 01:15:55
What do you want to create this year? How will you make 2024 the best year yet? What steps can you take today that will lead to a better tomorrow? Asking myself these very questions inspired me to go back and listen to some of our favorite stories from Food Heals. I put together a collection of incredible stories to inspire you to create the life you want and reach your goals in 2024. This is Part 2 of our New Year Series where we are chatting about how to reach your goals with grace and ease in 2024 and beyond. My personal formula for this is Appreciate, Believe, Take Action, Receive. Appreciate: First, we have to get into the appreciation of what we do have. Appreciating the abundance around us sets the foundation for welcoming more things into our lives to appreciate. Believe: Belief is the building block of creating the life we crave. We have to believe that we can have more, that we can have what it is we desire, that we deserve what it is we desire, and we have to dissolve the blocks that hold us back from believing. Take Action: Then, we have to take action steps towards our goals. Dreams thrive on action. Taking tangible steps toward our goals is vital—it's the bridge that connects our dreams to reality. Receive: Finally, we can relax with an inner knowing that we will now receive. We can be open and willing to receive without attachment to the outcome and with the thought of, "This or something better for the highest good of all concerned." This paves the way for unexpected blessings and blocks anything that's not meant for us from coming in. Let me know if that resonates with you; I'd love to hear from you! In today's episode you'll hear from some of our favorite guests and some of their magical manifestation stories:
Check out my brand new ebook: Would you like to manifest the life and body of your dreams this year? My brand-new ebook can help you achieve precisely that. It offers step-by-step guidance and proven healing tools and practices to incorporate into your daily life.
I want to help you. That's why I wrote this book. It's called "The Food Freedom Formula: The Manifestation Method to Crush Cravings, Banish Body Shame & End Emotional Eating For Good." This is the exact method that has helped hundreds of people in my workshops, group coaching programs, and online, and in-person events end emotional eating, banish body shame and lose the weight for good. Not only have I helped others but these methods also assisted me in losing 25 pounds last year! 25 pounds and I have never looked younger or felt better. Imagine in just three weeks you could be well on your way to feeling total food freedom. Your success is inevitable, if you don't give up. You can download the book right away—it's currently on sale for the month of January. Let's kickstart our wellness and weight loss goals for the new year and beyond. 10 Oct 2017 | 173: Alternative Medicine Secrets: What Your Doctor Isn’t Telling You That Could Save Your Life | 01:14:52
Welcome to the second episode of our Wellness Warrior series! We’re round-tabling with vegan chef and actress (and rapper!) Nicole Derseweh, world-renowned leader in raw vegan cuisine and host of the J-Wro Wro show Jason Wrobel, and healthy living crusader & founder of Eco-Vegan Gal Whitney Lauritsen, to bring you our favorite alternative medicine secrets. These days, there’s a pill for every ill. And often another pill to fight the side effects of the first one! While some pharmaceuticals can offer a temporary solution, who wants to take medication for the rest of their lives? Well, you don’t have to. You can support your health and heal yourself naturally. Secret 1: Detox We’re in a toxicity epidemic. Toxic food, toxic environment, toxic thoughts. Many of us have heavy metals in our bodies, like lead, cadmium and mercury, not to mention xeno-estrogens (plastic-based synthetic estrogen that disrupts hormones). An infrared sauna helps the body detoxify heavy metals through the skin. You can go to spa or get your own. You can gently detox every day by drinking plenty of water and choosing water-dense, fiber-rich, plant-based foods. Secret 2: Natural Happiness All too often depression is treated with SSRIs (selective serotonin re-uptake inhibitors). They may be okay as a bridge to help you over that first hurdle, but long-term they are not always the answer. Jason is living proof that you do not need to go down the pharmaceutical route. Diagnosed with clinical depression 3 years ago, he decided to boost his own serotonin and happy brain chemicals naturally. How? A combination of meditation, exercise, supplementation and self-love. Secret 3: Heart Health Heart disease is the number one killer in the US. The traditional western medicine response is surgery and medication. But did you know you can reverse heart disease? Studies show that a plant-based diet, meditation and fitness can reverse atherosclerosis. And Japanese research has found that the bacteria used to turn soy into nato (ultra fermented soy) actually eats the arterial plaque in the heart, cleaning it! But heart disease is more than just about saturated fat and processed foods. We reject affection, we block love, we shy away from connection, we’re afraid, we don’t love ourselves—heart disease is also a disease of empty heart. Our mindset and how much love we feel for ourselves and others also plays a huge role in our healing. Secret 4: Healthy Mindset Chronic pain indicates more than just a physical issue. Often, it’s a sign of blocked or unresolved emotions. How do you view yourself, your life, your relationships? What are you saying when you feel unwell? Our beliefs create our reality. If you’re constantly sick, what is going on in your life, in your mind, what is your attitude? Your mental energy and what you believe has the power to completely shift your healing. Top Wellness Warrior Alternative Medicine Tips: Nicole: Forget sugary snacks that end up making you tired—make your snacking raw and bioavailable instead, like dates, nuts, smoothies. For a caffeine-free healthy pick-me-up, go for Matcha green tea. Jason: Blood of the Dragon: A special tree sap from the Amazon, which creates a scab over deep wounds (you know, the kind you get when you’re creating vegan art with a mandolin)! It completely healed Nicole’s and Jason’s chef injuries. Allison: Get a vibration machine (no! not THAT kind!)—a vibrating platform shakes up your whole body and really sets you up for meditation. And cryotherapy (shout out to CryoZone in Santa Monica!)—the freezing temperatures boost your body’s healing potential and give you a natural high. Whitney: When Whitney got the flu recently, she turned to herbs, inflammation-fighters like ginger, garlic and turmeric, positive affirmations, and essential oils—you can use them internally as well as in a diffuser. If you have not had a chance to listen to part 1 and part 2 of Jill’s story, you will probably want to go back and listen to them first! Jill’s Favorite Juices:Super Simple Juice: 2 fennel bulbs 3 pears unless they are asian , then use 2 2 lemons – most nutrition is in the pith, cut the outer layer of skin mostly off and then press the whole lemon with as much *pith on it as possible. 2 inches of ginger ****pith is the white part of the lemon that is just inside the outer layer of skin Approximate cost is $5 and it will make 2 full servings. It’s delicious. Mexican Flair 2 bunches of cilantro (can also be parsley if you don’t like cilantro) 1 jicama – peeled 2 red bell peppers (can use any colored sweet peppers, just not green) 1 whole cucumber 1/4 red onion – be careful because the juice will burn your eyes 1 orange – peeled leaving as much pith as possible 2 or 3 limes 2 stalks of celery **optional add a small piece of jalapeño, not the inside or seeds. It you get it too hot, wait a day to drink it and the heat will lessen. Approximate cost $9 and it will make about 4 servings. A little spicy and a little sweet. Juicing tip: Heat and oxygen degrade nutrients in your juice, so if you want to press a larger batch of juice and preserve the nutrients, you can. Buy mason jars and store fresh juice in small jars so there is less oxygen exposure. Fill it literally to the brim and then seal the mason jar. You don’t have to juice every day. Juice once and pour into small airtight mason jars (have to fill them to the brim so there is no room for oxygen) and it will stay as fresh as possible. Our Favorite Moments: 14:22 – Fave juice recipes 21:25 – The juiciest of the greens 28:02 – Start with A juice 31:17 – Health benefits of apple cider vinegar 32:44 – Apple cider vinegar’s bad ass brother – Coconut sap vinegar 39:49 – Smoothie time! 41:17 – Secret smoothie trick 43:48 – Deals on plant based protein powder Being hailed as “Sex and the City for Food,” The Food Heals Podcast brings together experts in the field of nutrition, health and healing to teach you the best-kept natural secrets to being a hotter, healthier, happier YOU! 28 Aug 2018 | 217: Get Loved Up with Yoga Superstar Koya Webb and Sexy Fit Vegan Ella Magers | 01:13:17
With so many different types of yoga, you might not know where to start. The same goes for fitness. Do you go hard and fast, or slow and gentle? Thai kick-boxing or asana flow? Or maybe it doesn’t matter what you do, as long as you’re moving and appreciating your body. Koya Webb is a yoga superstar and celebrity holistic health coach, has appeared on NBC and was the main character on the reality show Yoga Girls. If you want to feel inspired, her Instagram is the most beautiful feed, full of motivational posts. But it wasn’t always this way. As a teen, Koya was insecure, had no self-worth or self-love. She had to learn to build that over time. What set her on that journey was track athletics. But just before she was about to make it big, she got a stress fracture. That was the end of the dream. She sank into a very dark place. And that’s when a school councilor suggested yoga. From the first class, Koya felt connected to spirit in a way she’d never experienced before. Within a year, she’d healed her body through yoga and meditation. From there, she kept studying and decided to become a yoga teacher to inspire people into a healthier lifestyle. For Koya, the secret lies in balance. You don’t have to be dogmatic about yoga, just like you don’t have to be dogmatic about your diet. When Alli went from non-vegan to super hardcore raw veganism, she got sick. She had to find her sweet spot. Everyone is different. Some people love to eat first thing in the morning. Other people enjoy intermittent fasting. And what you need may change depending on what’s happening in your life. You need to eat and fuel up based on your lifestyle. And the most important ingredient for total health? Self-love. We need to get loved up. Most of us are givers and lovers and nurturers, but we also need to learn how to receive love. Otherwise our cup gets empty and we get exhausted. Koya created the Get Loved Up University, a yoga teacher training academy to give more women the tools to teach other women, and spread the beautiful message of love, unity, health and plant-based nutrition. If this sounds like what you need, join Koya on her yoga retreat in Thailand in December! Any shape, size, nationality, yoga ability, you are invited to come and get loved up! 18 Dec 2018 | 235: Your Blueprint For Weight Loss Success and Avoiding the Black Hole of Fitness Doom with Fitness Expert Adam Schaeuble | 01:00:41
Adam Schaeuble is a PHD. Not the kind of PHD you’re thinking. It stands for Previous Heavy Dude. At his rock bottom, Adam weighed 327 pounds, and was over $40,000 in debt. But he had good friends who kept giving him the DVD of The Secret to watch. When he eventually did, Adam realized he needed to take his future into his own hands. Five years on, he’s achieved everything he set out to - lost 100 pounds, started a family, and started a successful business.
How? He stopped focusing on what the world was bringing to his door and instead started looking at what he wanted to achieve, and how he was going to attract what he wanted into his life. Positive mental attitude, a strong lifestyle rehabilitation statement, and consistency are key. Through this journey, Adam found his calling: to help as many people as possible dial up their health and get the results they deserve. Now a transformational coach, fitness expert and gym owner, he’s helped his home town lose over 35,000 pounds, and is on a mission to help people lose 1 million pounds of excess body weight.
His new podcast, the Million Pound Mission, goes into next-level thinking to take you deeper into nutrition and fitness, and motivate you to take action and get results. It’s packed with inspiration and knowledge bombs - if you’re trying to lose weight, this is the show for you! You can donate your weight loss to the Million Pound Mission here.
Adam’s Tips for Manifestation:
Black Hole of Fitness Doom Do you fall into the black hole of fitness doom? When we embark on a new program, whether it’s a fitness program or a new diet, we all go through the same cycle. We start out feeling pumped, then we begin seeing results and feel fired up. And then we have a “life happens” moment, we’re not ready, so we crash and burn. We give up, believe that we’ve failed or that the program doesn’t work, and we start another one. And on we go, losing weight, gaining it back, and each time feeling less motivated and more burned out. To break out of that cycle, it’s vital to figure out your transformational danger zones and find strategies to deal with them. Once you do that, you will get dramatically better results from your fitness and nutrition program.
Adam’s Amazing Results Formula: If you apply these four principles to any health goals, you’re going to succeed.
Adam’s tips for surviving the holiday season without gaining loads of weight:

14 Aug 2018 | 215: Release Inherited Emotional Blocks, Heal Your Money Mindset and Manifest Your Desires With Transformational Energy Healer Lisa Thomas | 01:19:00
Do you ever feel like none of your inner work is getting you anywhere? What if your fears, limiting beliefs and negative patterns were not your own, but actually inherited from your ancestors? Are you holding something in your body that isn’t even yours? If your ancestors had any kind of emotional trauma, such as fear, phobias, depression, anxiety, abuse, the subconscious traps that energy in DNA. This gets passed down, generation to generation. So your phobia of spiders may be due to a great great aunt experiencing the trauma of getting bitten. For example, Whitney’s limiting beliefs around money come from her grandfather going through the Great Depression. It can feel overwhelming to think that you’re also carrying other people’s trauma, but don’t worry! You can free yourself from these patterns and release the emotions that are not your own. Lisa Thomas is a Transformational Energy Healer and uses a combination of kinesiology (a form of muscle testing) and clairvoyancy to connect with her clients’ subconscious and assess what is blocking them, what needs to be released, and where these limiting beliefs have come from. Lisa was born with these gifts and initially felt this as a huge burden. Seeing dead people isn’t exactly fun when you don’t know what it all means and you can’t talk to anyone about it. She didn’t know what to do, and felt afraid and isolated. It wasn’t until years later that she realized that if she wasn’t using her gifts to empower people, she wasn’t fulfilling her purpose on earth. Thanks to her help, her clients can align with their soul purpose, get their unique gifts into the world, and reach their fullest potential. By drawing on her access to Source Energy and knowledge of holistic healing methods, Lisa can break patterns of struggle and negative energy that hold you back, so you can achieve a life filled with love and prosperity. She offers consultations in person, by Skype or by phone, and she works with people from all over the world and of all ages, from newborns to 80-year-olds. How can you manifest what you desire? It’s not as hard as you might thing. It comes down to gratitude. Gratitude for what you have in your life but also what’s coming - your perfect clients, your soulmate, the growth of your business, vibrant health. It has to go further than simply thinking about it or writing it. You’ve got to speak your gratitude out loud. Because when you speak it, you send it out into the Universe, and that energy will come back to you. Lisa’s Special Offer for Food Heals Nation:

I'll start off by sharing the most important health headlines of the week, including a new book by Darin Olien, co-host of the Netflix series Down to Earth with Zac Efron. The book is called Fatal Conveniences, and I'll be covering the top 5 safety tips to protect yourself from cell phone radiation. Then I'll discuss the importance of filtering your tap water. A recent study conducted by the US Geological Survey has revealed that almost half of the tap water in the US is contaminated with "forever chemicals" known as PFAS. These chemicals pose significant risks to human health. We'll be exploring how you can protect yourself by using carbon water filters, implementing detoxification strategies, and adopting a plant-based diet. Next, I'm excited to introduce our guest today, Sarah Merrill Hall (also a Nashville local so you'll be hearing from her lots!) If you're in need of some fun and relatable content to brighten up your day, you'll love Sarah's brand, Big Kid Problems. With a massive Instagram following of over half a million, Sarah brings humor and relatability to everyday struggles. Her mission is to help her followers embrace their imperfections, find laughter during tough times, and live their best lives. Sarah's content took a turn when she became a new mom! Enter the next era of Big Kid Problems with Bottle Service, a pregnancy and motherhood podcast. Sarah shares her experiences and insights, from her ultimate C-section recovery guide to candidly discussing her challenges with breastfeeding. Bottle Service is here to open up a new conversation surrounding motherhood. During our chat, Sarah and I cover various topics, including adulting, building her brand, her journey of becoming a first-time mom, and even dive into my favorite unhealthy reality obsession, the scandal that just won't die - Scandoval! And lastly, stick around until the end of the episode, where I'll be answering a listener question about foods that heal and help with hormones. 🎤 Available on @iHeartRadio, @SpotifyPodcasts, @ApplePodcasts, or wherever you listen to your #podcasts! 07 Feb 2023 | 406: Act As If: How to Stop Surviving and Start Thriving Through Habits, Thoughts, & Meditation with Katie Krimitsos | 01:06:07
Still suffering from the holiday blues? Is anxiety and depression holding you back from living the life of your dreams? What if a simple age-old practice could change everything? That's right, we're talking about meditation. Specifically, The Women's Meditation Network and how Katie Krimitsos created a meditation empire that can help you heal - emotionally, physically, and spiritually. Anxiety and depression are two of the most widespread mental health issues faced by people today. They can be overwhelming and make it difficult to live a happy and fulfilling life. Fortunately, meditation is an ancient practice that can help you overcome these challenges and promote overall health and wellbeing. The history of meditation dates back thousands of years, with its roots in ancient India. Over time, it has been adopted by different cultures and religions, each adapting it in their own unique way. Today, meditation is experiencing a resurgence in popularity, and there are numerous forms of meditation available, including mindfulness meditation, loving-kindness meditation, and body scan meditation. Meditation has been scientifically proven to reduce symptoms of anxiety and depression. By slowing down the activity of the mind and body, meditation can help reduce stress and anxiety, while also increasing feelings of happiness and wellbeing. These positive effects can counteract the negative effects of depression and lead to improved mental health. In addition to its mental health benefits, meditation has also been shown to have positive effects on physical health. It can help reduce pain, lower blood pressure, improve heart health, and enhance sleep. By promoting physical and mental wellness, meditation can help individuals live healthier lives. Katie Krimitsos is a leading advocate for meditation and its many benefits. Through her podcasts, Katie provides women with resources and guidance to help them incorporate meditation into their daily routines. Katie encourages people to "act as if" they already have what they want to manifest in their lives, and helps them not just survive, but thrive in all areas of their lives. Thank You to Our Sponsors! 30 May 2017 | 151: Anti-Aging Secrets & DNA Detoxing Methods You've Never Heard of with the Jing Slingers | 01:30:40
When you eat the whole plant, you’re getting the whole deal. That’s why we find so many healing plants in nature. Interestingly, almost every pharmaceutical medicine has its roots in nature. But modern medicine extracts one compound and turns it into pill form (with undesirable side effects). When you eat a whole plant however, you’re getting all the other nutrients working synergistically together to heal your body. Food Heals favorites Joy and Jay are passionate about whole tonic herbs. From that passion, Jing Slingers were born. Joy is a badass cop turned anti-aging superfood master. Jay is a yogi and tonic herbalist with over 50,000 tonic elixirs to his name. Together they create cleverly conscious comfort food that’s as good as your granny’s banana bread with the added benefits of supercharging your health all the way to your cells. (We tried their superfood caramel and can testify to this – best. Caramel. EVER). Since they were last on the show, the Jing Slingers have been working on a tonic to rival all tonics. Most modern diseases result from a dysfunction of the mitochondria, our cells’ power-producers. These are the molecules responsible for our core life energy. But we live in concrete jungles, breathe in polluted air, are bombarded by wifi radiation, drink chemical water—our cells are overwhelmed. They need a detox tonic. Enter the DNA Detox, an aqueous zeolight solution that penetrates deep into the cells’ mitochondria and eliminates environmental toxins, heavy metals, and even BPA’s. A next level solution to the next level toxicity we are dealing with. But that’s not all, they’ve also moved back to nature. At their retreat, Waterstone in North Carolina, you can experience life away from wifi signals, polluted air, and stress, and enjoy forest bathing, foraging, and of course, Joy and Jay’s mind-blowing culinary delights. We’ll definitely be going :-) Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
23 Nov 2023 | 451: High Vibe Wine: How JJ Flizanes is Creating Wine Without Compromise that is Chemical-free, Organic, Vegan, and Delicious | 00:57:19
Happy Thanksgiving! If you're celebrating, I hope you're surrounded by people who light up your world, enjoying delicious, nourishing food and, of course, some fine wine! But don't worry; today's guest is pioneering a solution. Enter High Vibrational Wines – a brand-new company that's breaking the mold, offering wines that are organic, chemical-free, and vegan. You remember JJ Flizanes from multiple episodes of Food Heals. She is an Empowerment Strategist and creator of The Empowering Minds Network. She hosts several podcasts, including her most popular show, Spirit, Purpose & Energy, and her wine show is Something to Wine About. JJ and I are both wine enthusiasts and health nuts, so how can we be both? As wine lovers, we want our wine to be on the healthy side but also taste amazing. Sadly that seems to be something lacking in the wine market today. How can we enjoy our wine without those dreaded hangovers, all while ensuring it's organic and tastes delicious? That's the challenge JJ tackled head-on when she approached me, saying, 'I'm creating an organic wine that's forever chemical-free and vegan.' My response? 'Sign me up.' And she did. 24 Mar 2023 | 416: Healing Lyme: Testing For the MTHFR Gene, The FODMAP Diet, Candida & Bacterial Optimizer Protocol, and More! (Healing Lyme Disease Series Part 3) | 01:02:17
Lyme disease can cause a range of symptoms, including fever, rash, joint pain, and fatigue, even arthritis, heart problems, and neurological issues. In the last two episodes, we spoke to Devon Dionne, Adrienne Nolan-Smith, and Robin Shirley who all used varying combinations of nutrition, detoxification, and alternative medicine to heal their Lyme disease. In this episode, you will hear Dr. Stephan Cabral give a listener advice on her Lyme disease. Then we chat with Aimee Valpone, who shares her harrowing story of overcoming Lyme and how changing her diet and learning how to detox saved her life when she was at death's door. Dr. Stephen Cabral is a board-certified Naturopath, Ayurvedic, Functional Medicine and Integrative Health Practitioner. He is the founder, creator and teacher of the Integrative Health Practitioner Institute. In today’s episode Dr. Cabral answer’s a listener question about Lyme, Sibo and the FODMAP diet. Then we will hear from Amie Valpone and her journey to heal. For years, Aimee suffered from various ailments, including Lyme disease and PCOS, and conventional medicine failed to provide a diagnosis. Doctors treated her symptoms with pill after pill, but nothing seemed to work. Even when she was lying in a hospital bed with morphine dripping into her arm, her HR department contacted her to say they thought she was bluffing, because she was blogging. This was the moment when Aimee decided that if she survived, she would dedicate her life to helping others. And that's exactly what she did. As Aimee began detoxing, many emotional issues surfaced, including the trauma from years of looking for someone to diagnose her, not being believed, and searching for answers. She started to detox her entire life, including holistic practices such as cranial sacral therapy and energy healing. Aimee shares her story on her blog to help others heal themselves. She guides them through health tests, including one that checks for the MTHFR gene, without which the body cannot properly detoxify. She emphasizes that high toxicity is one of the main reasons the body gets ill. This is where detoxing is incredibly powerful because it essentially gets the bad stuff out of your body. Eating organic foods helps the body cope with the bombardment of toxins. 22 Dec 2018 | 236: Chris Beat Cancer and You Can Too! | 01:09:09
Imagine being just 26 years old and being told you have stage 3 colon cancer. Just before Christmas. That’s what happened to Chris Wark. What began as intermittent abdominal pain was actually a tumor the size of a golf ball. He was rushed into surgery, but woke up to the news that the cancer had spread to his lymph nodes. His options? He only had one: chemotherapy for 9 to 12 months.
But poisoning himself back to health didn’t make sense to Chris. He wanted to build his body back up, not tear it down. He began researching alternatives. The books he read opened his eyes to the healing power of nutrition and how our diet impacts our health. Suddenly he realized that he’d created his cancer, so he could fix it. He immediately bought a juicer and went from a standard American diet to 100% vegan and 100% raw.
It wasn’t easy to make that decision. His oncologist told him he was insane not to have chemo. He warned Chris that fruits and vegetables would “fight” the treatment, and that chemo was his only hope - without it, there was a 50% chance he would be dead within 5 years. Chris was crushed, and frightened.
Unfortunately, this is something that happens to almost all cancer patients. They are manipulated into believing that chemotherapy and cancer drugs are the only solutions. They’re told that diet makes no difference. When Chris woke up from the surgery to remove his tumor, his first hospital meal was a sloppy joe - despite the fact red meat is classed as a “probable carcinogen” by the World Health Organization.
Patients are told their cancer is either bad luck or bad genes. This turns patients into victims of circumstance, whose only hope is to show up for “standard” treatment. But we know that cancer is multifactorial. Only 5% of cancers are genetic - 95% are caused by diet, lifestyle and environment. What this means is that cancer is not something that just happens, and it isn’t something we are powerless against. We have cancer cells in our bodies all the time, but our immune system is designed to fight and kill these cells. The difference between someone with cancer and someone without is their internal environment. We can make our bodies somewhere cancer can thrive (through a poor diet, high stress, environmental toxins), or somewhere cancer cannot survive. But how?

27 Feb 2016 | 68: Overcoming Adderall addiction, losing weight and finding peace with Adam Sud | 00:51:00
In today’s moving episode, Adam Sud tells us how he overcame his addiction of prescription drugs and junk food, lost 100 pounds, regained his self esteem and turned his life around with a whole food, plant based vegan diet. Prescription drug misuse kills over 300,000 Americans every year. Adam Sud very nearly became part of that statistic, but he managed to turn his life around. He shares his inspirational story with us today. Adam comes from a home where healthy living was encouraged. When his grandfather passed away from cancer, his father, founder of Whole Foods Market, became focused on health and wellness, running marathons and encouraging his family to eat nutritious food. Consequently, Adam wondered whether there was something wrong with him for liking junk foods, and by the time he was in high school, he’d rebelled and begun to reject the healthy lifestyle promoted at home. In middle school he was prescribed the ADHD medication Adderall, which he began to overuse, enjoying the feeling of focused attention and the fact the drug helped him manage his weight. But Adderall is one molecule away from being street meth, and soon Adam found himself increasingly craving the drug. By the time he was in college, his metabolism was seriously damaged and he began gaining weight. It wasn’t until Adam left college than things really took a turn for the worse. He was taking six times the recommended amount of Adderall each day, and when he couldn’t get hold of it he would self-sooth with junk food. His self image was at an all time low, he had no self esteem. Nothing mattered except the drug. He lost his job, his life retreated into his apartment, he didn’t go out with his friends and his relationship with his family was strained. But his father kept reaching out to him and one day Adam realized he had to do something. He started rehab in September 2012. “The physical exam was dehumanizing”, Adam remembers as he thinks back to being 300 pounds and seriously overweight. The test results were frightening: he had high blood pressure, and his blood sugar levels were through the roof. It was the diabetes diagnosis that hit Adam the hardest, and what propelled him to making the lifestyle changes needed to fully recover. He started working with the personal trainer immediately. “If I’m the cause of my problems, I get to be the solution,” and, 37 days later, he moved into Sober Living. This was another challenge, as the food on offer was “worse than hospital food”, frosted flakes and microwaveable pizzas—indeed most people gain weight in Sober Living. But that wasn’t the case for Adam. He started a diet consisting of oatmeal and egg whites, and as many steamed vegetables as he could handle — this was an act of self love and care, and the diet helped reaffirm his sobriety. After two months, he’d lost 30 pounds, and with the therapy he was receiving, was able to start liking the person he saw in the mirror. Adam also reversed his diabetes. He moved out of Sober Living eight months later, weighing nearly 100 pounds less. Now, Adam has been a vegan for around two years, and is planning to run the New York Marathon with his father. He’s certified as a Holistic Health Coach, and has gone from hating himself to being the healthiest and happiest he’s ever been — and if that’s not a story worth listening to, nothing is! Tune in now for part 1 of this extraordinary two-part interview.

24 Jul 2019 | 271: How to Overcome Perfectionism and Cultivate Self-love in the Digital Age | 01:16:08
DAISY JING - From Acne to Beauty We all want to be beautiful. We all want to be perfect. Why? Because we’ve been sold the idea that we need to be perfect to be acceptable. This is especially true when it comes to our skin. It has to be pore-less, flawless, smooth, wrinkle-free - that’s a lot to worry about. We’re all trying to fit into some standardized idea of beauty… a standard created by marketing experts to sell us products and services!
Daisy’s quest for perfection started in the 3rd grade. As her acne developed, she was determined to get rid of it and make her skin perfect. She visited dozens of dermatologists, tried hundreds of “miracle” products, antibiotics, benzo-peroxide skincare… nothing worked. In fact, many of these products made the acne worse. Check out Episode 220 for her healing story.
This struggle with perfection is what motivated Daisy to start her own all-natural skincare brand, Banish, that removes acne scars and is gentle on skin. But more importantly, Daisy went on a journey to let go of the need to be perfect.
After all, what is perfectionism? Isn’t it just a symptom of feeling that you’re not good enough? It’s a control issue. Trying to control how you appear to others, hiding your “flaws” so that you become acceptable. This is crazy. Each of us is uniquely beautiful, we all have a light to share.
So how do you let go of the need to be perfect? For Daisy, it was focusing on something bigger than herself. As she focused on her YouTube channel, offering advice, sharing her struggles and responding to viewers, her focus shifted from appearance-obsession to helping others. This changed everything.
If you want to be comfortable in your skin, you’ve got to get outside your head. After all, what do you notice about other people? Do you notice their wrinkles and pimples, or do you notice their friendly smile, cool outfit, positive attitude?
Beyond Your Skin You’re not defined by your looks. You’re defined by the difference you make in other people’s lives. So, what can you do? Give back. Volunteer at a homeless shelter, organize a campaign, do a clean-up, get involved helping your community, help those in your immediate circle who are struggling, make their life a bit better. Your journey is your gift to the world, any struggles you’ve gone through are ways you can help others.
Acne goes deeper than your skin Your skin is your biggest organ, and it tells you whether something is off. Acne is a sign of a deeper issue - unbalanced hormones, inflammation, poor gut health. Skincare is only 20% of the solution. You need to start from the inside. Going vegan, quitting junk foods, giving up dairy can all help. Once you’ve got your diet sorted out, then you can look at skincare.
A natural way to clearer skin The latest Banish product, Banisher 2.0, will help you on your journey to becoming comfortable in your skin. It’s a patented device with 24 carat plated tiny needles, that prick the skin and force it to heal by producing more collagen and elastin (known as micro-needling). Combined with Banish oil (made fresh every day with ascorbic acid - the most potent form of vitamin C), it accelerates the healing and rejuvenating process. You’ll get a glow from the first day. Coupon Code FOODHEALS gives you $10 off your purchase.
ELLA MAGERS - From poor body image and disordered eating to self-acceptance
At just 7 years old, Ella Magers already knew her mission was to save the animals and help our planet. By the time she was a teenager, she was sitting on the side of the road trying to raise awareness of the plight of factory farmed animals.
Her struggle with perfectionism really began in her early twenties. She was working in the fitness industry, and she decided that the way to promote the vegan lifestyle was to be so perfect, so lean, so muscular, that people would want to find out how she got there.
Unfortunately, this made life impossible. When Ella looked in the mirror, all she saw was her flaws. Her quest for a perfect body led her down a dark path of unhealthy behaviors like extreme calorie counting and binging. On the outside, she was a picture of vegan health, but behind closed doors, Ella saw herself as fat and restricted her food. Because all her focus was on something else - helping animals - Ella disconnected with herself.
Isn’t that what so many of us do these days? We’re taking care of everyone else, too busy with our children, our families, our work… and we neglect to work on ourselves, to cultivate that self-acceptance that helps us to live a joyful, purposeful life, that helps us be the best version of ourselves, and, ultimately, helps us make a bigger positive impact on the world.
In the digital age we live in now, we’re constantly comparing ourselves to other people - or profiles. How can we get over that? How can we know that we are fine just as we are? Well a good place to start is to say: I am perfectly imperfect. Because that’s what we all are.
We need to reprogram ourselves to get us out of that mental space of “I’m not good enough”. The first step is to acknowledge it.
Just focusing on the food or the workouts will only work for a short time. Unless you tackle the root cause of why you’re where you are right now, change will not last. And the root is how you view yourself. Whether you love yourself or not. Self-love is the pre-requisite for making sustainable changes in your life.
Through nutrition, veganism, muay thai boxing and self-love practices, Ella came out of the darkness of disordered eating, and now leads a body-positive life. She runs the Plant Empowered Coaching program where she helps her tribe adopt a vegan lifestyle and love the skin they’re in - without counting calories or feeling restricted. Got to www.SexyFitVegan.com for the details or to apply for a free break-through session.

25 May 2024 | 479: A Natural Treatment for Osteoporosis and Arthritis That Works (Red Pill Revolution Part 2) | 00:32:30
In our last episode, we introduced you to Dr. Jeremy Ayres and John Gusty, the brilliant minds behind The Red Pill Revolution: Exposing The Illusion and Hidden Agendas. Today, we delve deeper into their groundbreaking work. In this episode, you'll get a sneak peek into the book's powerful content. We start with Chapter One, setting the stage for the revelations that follow. Stick around until the end, where we reveal an all-natural treatment for osteoporosis and arthritis that actually works! 17 Apr 2018 | 197: Taking the Vegan Movement by Storm & Creating Social Change through TV shows, Instagram and Events | 00:56:53
Asher Brown stopped eating meat when he was just 9 years old. He realized if could ask what the cow might want, it would not want to be eaten. It wasn’t easy being the only vegetarian in his family; his mom worried he might never grow up big and strong without meat. But his parents supported him and at 20, he went from vegetarian to vegan. However, like many of us, he was an apologetic vegan. He didn’t want to make others uncomfortable, didn’t want to be the odd one out or the “awkward” guy at the dinner table. But when he got hired to make videos for Beyond Meat, all that changed—he found his voice. He discovered Vegan Instagram, and that he was part of a group of millions of vegans around the world, standing up for the animals. That sparked his move into activism. Asher began speaking at conferences, connecting with other vegans, and working for vegan brands. Asher Brown is the founder of Pollution TV, a content agency that works solely with ethical companies and conscious brands to spread vegan awareness and lead social change. He’s also recently launched a plant-based cooking show with a difference: High Cuisine, where two cannabis-infused chefs cook up vegan dishes, with some surprising results! You can watch the show for free on Go90.com. Going plant-powered isn’t about what you’re giving up, it’s about what you get. We can do so much good in the world, and it comes down to what we choose to put on our plates each day. Eating vegan for one day saves one animal a day. Choosing plants over meat makes a difference. Asher says, if you care about the world, your health, having enough food to feed the entire planet, social justice: eat more plants. Simple. Your diet is your chance every day to reflect on yourself, your body, your surroundings. It’s more than just about your meal, it’s about the wider world. 28 Apr 2022 | 368: Cancer Journeys and Healing Stories to Inspire You Part 2 | 01:23:34
Our Cancer Journeys and Healing Stories the Mainstream Media Isn’t Talking About Series coninues with these incredible interviews... Amanda Deming From Episode 8 Cervical cancer killed nearly 4,000 women last year. It’s the second most common cancer among women. Conventional treatments, like surgery, chemo and radiation, aren’t just poisonous, they often lead to infertility. When Amanda was diagnosed with cervical cancer, she was determined not to go down that road. Instead, she chose a raw vegan diet, meditation, and yoga. She’s now cancer-free.
Jeff Witzeman From Episode 190 When Jeff’s wife was diagnosed with an aggressive form of bladder cancer, she was told her life would change forever: surgery, chemotherapy, radiation, a life without an essential organ. Instead of taking the doctor’s word for it, they travelled to Germany to treat the cancer to a spa. Thanks to juicing, a plant-based diet, hyperthermia (targeted heat therapy), oxygen therapy, intravenous vitamins, and colonics, she was completely cancer-free in just one month.
Tracey Edmonds From Episode 226 Just like Alli, Tracey lost both her parents to preventable diseases: her mom died from cancer and shortly after, her dad died from a heart attack. This made her determined to be a pillar of health and to spread the message through as many media outlets as possible. She launched the wellness website Alright Now to give people the tools they need to live their healthiest life - from nutrition and fitness to relationships and parenting. We think she rocks!
Jill Tomback Jill and I were room-mates when she was first diagnosed with breast cancer at just 25 years old. She endured four years of conventional treatment, including chemo and surgery. But since then, she’s taken the holistic route: she’s a plant-powered Pilates superstar, an avid juicer and a big fan of the Gerson therapy. Learn more about your ad choices. 31 Oct 2017 | 176: Discussions of the Supernatural, Paranormal, Quantum Physics, Spirits and of course...ghost stories! | 00:30:33
Welcome to our special Halloween episode! Join wellness-preneurs Eco-Vegan Gal, Whitney Lauritsen, Eaternity’s, Jason Wrobel, and I Vegan You's, Nicole Derseweh, as they share their experiences of the supernatural! We spent last Halloween together and Nicole rocked the make-up brushes to make us all look totally dope. We’re fascinated by the paranormal and the unexplainable. This is the perfect time of year to ask what you believe in. Do we really know who we are, where we came from? Do you believe in spirits, in aliens? We do! Quantum physics show that our brains can only detect a very small fraction of the reality that is available. This reality isn’t the only reality, and these bodies aren’t the only manifestation of our souls. Each of our Wellness Warriors has had real experiences with spirits and beings from other dimensions. Jason once woke up to find himself pinned to the couch by invisible forces. Nicole captured a dark energy on camera. Whitney accessed the spirit world in her sleep. Allison connected with loved ones on the other side. There’s definitely something bigger than us, and there’s no better time to share these stories than Halloween! Learn more about your ad choices. 16 Oct 2019 | 279: Go Behind-the-Scenes of Your Favorite Wellness Brands in the Food Heals VIP Club | 01:10:05
Thrilled to announce the brand new Food Heals VIP Club where we go behind the scenes of the businesses of our favorite Food Heals entrepreneurs. They are authors, podcasters, bloggers, speakers, coaches, filmmakers and more. In the VIP club you’ll hear how these wellness influencers use their transformational stories, their miraculous healing journeys, their voices to create the life they desire. You will learn exact systems, strategies and real-world advice on how YOU can build a career out of the knowledge, expertise, experiences and passions you have had in your life.
So let me give you a little back story about how the Food Heals VIP club was born and what it is. Besides being wildly passionate about holistic health and healing and the notion that food heals, I have another passion: empowering wellness entrepreneurs to build empires.
I love entrepreneurship and teaching people to build businesses out of their passions; businesses that serve the world and serve our souls! I have never believed in the notion of slaving away at a 9 to 5 that we hate working at in order to build someone else’s dreams. I believe in creating our own reality, our own dream jobs, so that we can live each day excited to wake up and not living in dread or in fear. I know not everyone is born like this or believes this but it was ingrained into my DNA from when I was a kid.
Growing up my father was an entrepreneur. I watched him build multiple businesses. I watched him have massive wins as well as massive failures but one thing he said always sticks with me. He said “Build a business you love and then hire people smarter than you to run it so you can take the profits off the top and enjoy your life.”
This is what he did. When I was young he owned a construction company and he built houses around our small town of Chapel Hill, North Carolina. When I was 4 years old he bought a plot of land and built my mom and I a beautiful 5 bedroom house on Lake Ellen drive which was situated between and lake and a creek with a waterfall connecting them (I know I cant make this up!)
I have fond memories of going to construction sites with him and how cool it was to see a piece of land go from patchy grass and mud to a beautiful house that a family would move into and call a home. And, not only did my dad build homes but he even fought to have low income housing built in wealthier areas of our town so that children in low income households would be in neighborhoods with good school districts where they could get top notch education. So, there was altruism in his business as well that I always have admired.
In the late 80s my father hit a roadblock. The savings and loans crisis which devastated families in the 80s hit him hard. The savings and loan system was originally created to promote homeownership for the working class and was a huge opportunity for people like my father.
The S&Ls paid lower-than-average interest rates on deposits. In return, they offered lower-than-average mortgage rates. S&Ls couldn't lend money for commercial real estate, business expansion, or education. However, just like we saw in the subprime mortgage crisis we saw in 2007-2010, the Savings and Loans house of cards eventually came crashing down and by 1989, thousands and thousands of the nation's savings and loans had failed. And thus my father was forced to declare bankruptcy.
You would think this is the type of situation that would tear a family apart, force them into poverty, or force business owners to give up. Not my dad. He started over. With help from my mom who worked at UNC as a curriculum creator not only did they come back from this crisis but my dad also paid back all of the debts that he owed when he declared bankruptcy.
Then he did something super unexpected. My dad decided to go to law school while I was in high school. Yes this man was a total risk taker - now you know where I get it from- right? Cut to a few years later, my dad had become an attorney in town and I went to college two hours away. My parents decided to move into their beach house which was about 30 minutes from my college town.
What happened in the small beachside community of Surf City, NC on Topsail Island was that my dad became to go-to lawyer in town for property law and real estate closings. He built a huge business by becoming the attorney who people got to know, like, and trust. His clients became friends who we would barbecue with, who we could have dinners and drinks with at the one bar in town. He used his previous construction skills and knowledge of the housing industry to start buying real estate and flipping homes and by the time I was a sophomore in college my dad became a millionaire.
And there he was living the lifestyle he had told me about- doing what he loved every day. Riding his motorcycle around town, taking my mom, our dog, and I out on the boat every weekend, cooking dinners for friends, families and neighbors and creating the life he envisioned for himself.
So this is what shaped me into believing that anything was possible. This is why I have always been an entrepreneur, this is why I always take risks in my life.
Now, as many of you know if you are a regular listener of my show, this bliss didn’t last. A few short years into this bliss I lost first my mother and then my father to battles with cancer.
I didn’t inherit millions because of mismanagement of his estate by a very awful person who sought out to ruin us financially (and did- but that is a story for another time.) But, this tragedy and my upbringing combined to inspire me to create the life I wanted to live and make an income that allowed me to live that life but also always have time to spend with friends, and family and do things that I want to do like films, podcasts, write books, coach people and more. Things that light me up inside!
And one of the coolest things that happened to me was when I started Food Heals so many of my guests who had incredible healing stories to share ALSO had built incredible brands and businesses helping others learn about health and healing. They were authors, podcasters, bloggers, coaches, filmmakers, and more. And they were using their transformational stories, their miraculous healing journeys, their voices to create the life they desired. And I wanted to go behind the scenes and learn what they were doing to create careers around their passions.
And that is what the FOOD HEALS VIP CLUB is. It is where you will hear the stories BEHIND THE SCENES of Food Heals Podcast Guests. Where you will learn exact systems, strategies and real-world advice on how YOU can build a career out of the knowledge, expertise, experiences and passions you have had in your life.
People need your voice. They need your perspective. They need your stories. Your unique perspective is unlike anyone else’s. Because it has been formed by your life experiences and everything you have been through up to this point in your life. And if you have been through something you can help others going through that same thing. If you have mastered something, you can help others who want to master that same thing. Wherever you are on your life’s journey, there is someone who needs your help even if you are just one step ahead of them.
I don’t care who else is doing it. It doesn’t matter if it has been done before. There are more people who need help, who need healing, who need your knowledge than there are people teaching it. And nothing that you are going to do has ever been done before. Because no matter what it is, you’ll do it your way.
By helping others, by serving them, we can create careers that we absolutely love. For me when I started my production company 13 years ago now, I accepted a few clients with video production needs that didn’t matter to me, that I wasn’t passionate about. And it showed.
I decided after two of those experiences to stop accepting clients who wanted to do things that didn’t serve the world or help others in some way. I wanted to do media that mattered which ended up becoming my tag line. If you see my branding, or my budgets, proposals or invoices, they all say Melody Productions - Media that Matters.
And with that in mind the right client started to be attracted to me. For years now I have exclusively worked with clients in social justice, public health and wellness to create videos to inspire people to get educated, to get into action and to make changes in their own lives and help others. All this while getting paid to do exactly what I wanted to do. Creating a career out of my passion to serve.
Then the same thing happened with Food Heals… when I started Food Heals I didn’t think, “I want to make a million dollars!” I thought "I want everyone to know that the body is designed to heal itself if given the tools it needs to do so!”
I wanted to inspire people to stop outsourcing their health to doctors and pills but instead to take their health into their own hands through nutrition and alternative medicine. And what happened was I ended up building a brand out of helping people that became popular and lucrative so that I can continue to use my voice, provide a platform for healing stories, podcast, make films, write books, host masterminds, speak on stages and shout from the rooftops that food heals.
And so that’s what I strive to do every single day. Reach more people with my message. And that is what the VIP Club guests are doing as well. And we want to help inspire you that you can do it too.

01 Dec 2018 | 233: Kick Your Sugar Addiction & Free Yourself From Overeating For Good with Weight Loss Expert David Zappasodi | 01:15:12
When Allison hired weight-loss expert David Zappasodi, he told her to stop exercising and go buy a bunch of junk food. This is a weight-loss strategy like no other. But, it WORKS.
Did you know that out of all the people who try losing weight every year, only 3% succeed? From the moment David stepped into the health and wellness industry, over 20 years ago, he knew he had to find a new method that challenges common weight-loss approaches. So he developed a revolutionary strategy to reprogram your brain to give up junk food and stop over-eating for good. His ultimate goal? To eradicate world-wide obesity. We love his mission!!
But how can you do this? By creating brain-flips around your cravings.
How Do Brain Flips Work? It’s vital to understand that we have two aspects to our brain. First, there’s the thinking brain - we use it to fix problems and make our lives better. The thinking brain knows that certain foods are an issue and it wants to get rid of the craving. This is the part of the brain most of us will try to use to lose weight, and it never works. The sensory brain, on the other hand, is different - it’s the opposite of your thinking brain in so far as it has no capacity to think. It just functions through your senses - hearing, sight, smell, touch, taste - but it doesn’t have a concept of what it’s seeing, tasting, touching, smelling etc. It doesn’t identify - that’s the thinking brain’s job. Your sensory brain’s role is to keep you safe - it does that by creating familiar associations.
For example, let’s say as a child you fell and scraped your knee. Your mum bandaged it up, and gave you an ice-cream. Your thinking brain is aware the bandaging is what’s helping, but your sensory brain just links the taste of ice-cream to the physical sensation of feeling better - it creates a program that says ice-cream equals feeling good. The result? A craving for ice-cream that lasts into adulthood. The story changes, the food changes, but it’s pretty much the same for everyone and all cravings. Your thinking brain might know that this is happening, but that won’t solve the problem. Unless you can reprogram your brain, you will keep having those cravings. You need a brain-flip. To create this brain-flip, you need a pain tool.
Pain Tool: You’ve concluded that ice-cream equals safe. So you need to create a pain tool that reprograms your sensory brain to believe that ice-cream equals not safe. How? David gets his clients to make an audio that goes deep into what their life will look like if they don’t solve this problem, which they listen to whilst eating the ice-cream or whatever food they crave. This pain tool plants a seed in the sensory brain that says ice-cream is not enjoyable after all. It’s a small seed, but it begins to decrease the cravings. Within a few days, this new programming takes over. Your brain no longer associates the ice-cream with comfort, it associates it with pain. The result? You don’t crave that food any more. You are free.
And that’s just Phase 1. In Phase 2, David tackles over-eating. Where cravings tend to be an association of taste with comfort, overeating is an association between the feeling of fullness and feeling safe. This might happen because as a child you were told to finish what was on your plate, so your sensory brain created a link between overeating and feeling safe. In Phase 3, you go even deeper, by brain-flipping your beliefs about working out - making exercise so exciting you’ll be begging to get to the gym. Tune in to discover David’s tools for brain-flipping around overeating and exercise.
Alli has just completed Phase 1, and has gone from eating dessert every single day to not even wanting anything sweet. She feels like a completely new person - and you can too!
If you’ve tried program after program and are seriously struggling with weight-loss, you can schedule a free coaching call with David at www.empoweredhealthnow.com/talk.

08 Feb 2017 | 135: The Incredible Healing Protocol for Reversing Debilitating Disease & Heavy Metal Toxicity | 00:42:35
You could eat all the right things and exercise every day, but if your mind believes you’re sick, you will be. On the other hand, if you believe that you are healthy, you can heal anything. Just like Miracle Man Morris Goodman says: man becomes what he thinks. Khristee Rich fell ill when she was in college. She had chronic fatigue, brain fog, she was bed-ridden much of the time—she couldn’t work, go on dates, socialize, even write an email. But no one knew how to treat her. Doctors didn’t even believe she was ill, stating she was simply “depressed” and “stressed”. One doctor even told her she simply had to accept that she would be sick for the rest of her life. Khristee tried everything, from reiki to qi gong and acupressure, but nothing worked. Finally, she was diagnosed with heavy metal toxicity—with blood levels of mercury and lead so high she should have been paralyzed or brain damaged. Unwilling to go through potentially fatal medical chelation therapy, Khristee began researching natural chelators. Using a combination of plant foods, supplements and visualization meditations, she freed herself of heavy metals in just one month. Khristee knew she had a higher purpose than just being sick. She’s now a Visibility and Confidence Coach, and helps entrepreneurs boost their confidence so they can shine. Because when you show up for yourself, you can show up for others. 26 Feb 2020 | 296: Mastering Diabetes: The Revolutionary Method to Reverse Insulin Resistance Permanently | 00:57:03
Current medical wisdom advises that anyone suffering from diabetes or prediabetes should eat a low-carbohydrate, high-fat diet. But today’s guests, Cyrus Khambatta, PhD, and Robby Barbaro, MPH, rely on a century of research to show that advice is misguided. While it may improve short-term blood glucose control, such a diet also increases the long-term risk for chronic diseases like cancer, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, chronic kidney disease, and fatty liver disease.
The revolutionary solution is to eat a low-fat plant-based whole-food diet, the most powerful way to reverse insulin resistance in all types of diabetes: type 1, type 1.5, type 2, prediabetes, and gestational diabetes.
This is why Cyrus and Robby founded Mastering Diabetes, an online platform that helps people Reverse Insulin Resistance Permanently, Get your best A1c, achieve your ideal body weight, and lower your cholesterol in as little as 3 months through their summits, coaching, and books. Their brand new book, Mastering Diabetes is out now.
As the creators of the extraordinary and effective Mastering Diabetes Method, Cyrus and Robby lay out a step-by-step plan proven to reverse insulin resistance-the root cause of blood glucose variability- while improving overall health and maximizing life expectancy. Armed with more than 800 scientific references and drawing on more than 36 years of personal experience living with type 1 diabetes themselves, the authors show how to eat large quantities of carbohydrate-rich whole foods like bananas, potatoes, and quinoa while decreasing blood glucose, oral medication, and insulin requirements.
They also provide life-changing advice on intermittent fasting and daily exercise and offer tips on eating in tricky situations, such as restaurant meals and family dinners. Perhaps best of all: On the Mastering Diabetes Method, you will never go hungry.
With more than 30 delicious, filling, and nutrient-dense recipes and backed by cutting-edge nutritional science, Mastering Diabetes will help you maximize your insulin sensitivity, attain your ideal body weight, improve your digestive health, gain energy, live an active life, and feel the best you've felt in years. 02 Sep 2017 | 167: How to Finally Lose Weight, Change Addictive Behaviors & End Body Shame | 00:57:54
Are you addicted? Probably. Addiction is simply a movement away from feeling something. Most of us don’t want to feel—we seek to distract ourselves. And most of us are addicted—to coffee, to control, to sugar, to approval, to people pleasing, to social media, etc. These addictions are simply the strategies we’ve found to keep ourselves from experiencing, and expressing, unpleasant feelings and emotions. Feelings don’t just appear out of nowhere. They are an energy born of your mental chatter. First you have a thought. From that comes an interpretation (depending on your life experience), which then determines how you feel about it. “The emotion that can break your heart is often the very one that heals it.” In other words, you have to feel it to heal it. Unexpressed emotion and repressed anger will only cause more of the same, and damage your health too. So how can you embrace and process your feelings? Tune in to discover JJ’s 3-step process! What about body shame? No matter our shape or size, the majority of us have some form of body shame: we dislike our bodies, put ourselves through extreme workouts, go on diets, but nothing ever works. And this is because we’re only addressing the surface. Everything from your biology to your spirituality, your endocrine system, thoughts and beliefs, are all part of fitness, even though they’re invisible. We need to go deeper than dieting and exercise. JJ Flizanes is an empowerment strategist, personal trainer, podcast host and best-selling author. Her latest book “The Invisible Fitness Formula: 5 Secrets to Release Weight & End Body Shame” is dedicated to helping you address the emotional causes of weight gain, and reconnect with your body. Life is more than the hustle – life’s about community. It’s about finding your tribe, the people with keys that open up parts of yourself you never knew were there. Lori Harder grew up without that tribe… …in a small town, in an overweight family who believed they were victims of their genes. She was home schooled and had zero friends outside of her family religion. She was lonely, repressed and depressed. And even though fitness eventually set her free, both in her diet and in her spirit, it was a long journey and full of obstacles. Despite changing her body, winning competitions, and being successful, Lori still couldn’t shake how miserable she felt. This is something so many of us struggle with. We think we’ll be happy when we get that job, lose 10 pounds, get married, buy a house…but if we don’t confront and heal the inner stories that run in our mental background, happiness will always be elusive and short-lived. Lori had to stop and figure out what was blocking her from feeling true joy and lasting happiness. Suddenly she knew she wanted something she’d never had: community. She wanted to give women somewhere to go, a place to feel accepted and connected. As host of the Earn Your Happy podcast, founder of the Bliss Project, and author of A Tribe Called Bliss, Lori now helps women to find their tribe, connect with their communities, and manifest their dream life. Enjoy this #classis #throwback episode co-hosted by Suzy Hardy!
