02 Mar 2025 | SPECIAL EPISODE - "LIKE NEVER BEFORE". Robert's Song For These Turbulent And Pivotal Times: "We Need Each Other Right Now Like Never Before"! | 00:07:19
“LIKE NEVER BEFORE” is my song in response to all the chaos, confusion, shouting and fighting that currently pervades our country and the world. Our discourse and communication is harsh or nonexistent. Our respect for one another and for our laws and institutions is at an all time low. I wrote and released this song a year ago when I thought that our country was at a low ebb. But we’ve sunk even further now. The song’s refrain sums up my message: “We Need Each Other Right Now Like Never Before”. It’s time to listen to it and to each other once again. IF YOU AGREE WITH MY MESSAGE PLEASE PASS THIS ALONG. 30 Mar 2025 | Encore Presentation: Bert Berns And Nat Weiss - Two Music Industry Giants. Berns: Foremost Songwriter And Producer (“Twist And Shout”); Weiss: Brian Epstein's U.S. Partner And James Taylor’s Manager! | 00:12:30
This is an Encore Presentation of my February 2024 episode featuring Bert Berns and Nat Weiss, two giants of the music industry, yet both relatively unknown to the public. Bert Berns was one of the foremost songwriters and producers of pop and rhythm and blues in the ‘60s. His hits include “Twist And Shout”, which The Beatles took to international fame; “Piece Of My Heart”, Janis Joplin’s gigantic hit; “Hang On Sloopy”, the mega-hit for The McCoys; “Cry To Me”, a hit for Solomon Burke and later for The Rolling Stones; and “Tell Him”, a great early ‘60s hit for the Exciters. His producer credits include “Brown Eyed Girl”, Van Morrison’s first smash hit. Nat Weiss was a lawyer by training. He became the U.S. business partner of Brian Epstein, the manager of The Beatles, and was Brian’s right hand man in America for the band, including for all the merchandising opportunities coming their way. Nat expanded this relationship and began suggesting artists for Brian to manage, including The Cyrkle (“Red Rubber Ball”). They formed a management company together and, after Brian’s death, Nat continued the business, managing artists like James Taylor. --------------------------------------------- The Follow Your Dream Podcast: For more information and other episodes of the podcast click here. 21 Apr 2022 | SPECIAL EPISODE: Robert’s Interview On "Beyond The Crucible" Podcast - Following His Dream And Inspiring You To Follow Yours | 00:55:13
Everybody has a dream. My youthful dream was to become a rock star. I finally followed my dream later in life when I formed my band, Project Grand Slam. A year ago I started the Follow Your Dream podcast in order to inspire and motivate you to follow your dream. From time to time I like to remind you of my story, so you can see for yourselves that, as I like to say, you're never too old, and it's never too late, to follow your dream. Recently I was interviewed on a terrific podcast called Beyond The Crucible, and I decided to re-broadcast the interview as a Special Episode of this podcast, because the interview skillfully lays out my story and tells you the precise steps that I took toward my dream and that anyone can take. 16 Feb 2024 | Bert Berns And Nat Weiss - Two Music Industry Giants. Berns: Phenomenal Songwriter And Producer (“Twist And Shout”); Weiss: Brian Epstein's U.S. Partner And James Taylor's Manager! | 00:12:30
Bert Berns and Nat Weiss are two giants of the music industry, yet both relatively unknown to the public. Bert Berns was one of the foremost songwriters and producers of pop and rhythm and blues in the ‘60s. His hits include “Twist And Shout”, which The Beatles took to international fame, “Piece Of My Heart”, Janis Joplin’s gigantic hit, “Hang On Sloopy”, the mega-hit for The McCoys, “Cry To Me”, a hit for Solomon Burke and later for The Rolling Stones, and “Tell Him”, a great early ‘60s song for the Exciters. His producer credits include “Brown Eyed Girl”, Van Morrison’s first smash hit, "Under The Boardwalk" by The Drifters, and "Cherry Cherry" by Neil Diamond. Nat Weiss was a lawyer by training. He became the U.S. business partner of Brian Epstein, the manager of The Beatles, and was Brian’s right hand man for the band in America, including sorting out all the merchandising opportunities coming their way. Nat parlayed this relationship into one where he would suggest artists for Brian to manage, including The Cyrkle. They formed a management company together and, after Brian’s death, Nat continued the business, managing artists like James Taylor. --------------------------------------------- The Follow Your Dream Podcast: For more information and other episodes of the podcast click here. 13 Oct 2024 | 1st ANNIVERSARY SHOW! - March 2022! Ft "Cousin Brucie", Jim Peterik, Mark Farner, John Lodge, Joey Dee, Sarah Class And Much More! | 00:21:40
1st ANNIVERSARY SHOW! I'm rebroadcasting our three anniversary shows! This is our first one from March 2022. I started the podcast in March 2021. It was the depths of the pandemic. Musicians like me could neither perform nor even rehearse. I needed to find a creative outlet and someone suggested that I should look into starting a podcast. I had no idea what a podcast was; I had never even listened to one. But the more that I looked into it the more I became convinced that a podcast could provide a much deeper level of engagement than ordinary social media. Plus I felt that I had an interesting and inspiring story to tell. So I began the podcast. This 1st Anniversary episode features vignettes from a number of my first year guests: “Cousin Brucie” Morrow, America’s most famous radio personality; Jim Peterik of the Ides of March and formerly with Survivor; Mark Farner of Grand Funk Railroad fame; John Lodge of the Moody Blues; Joey Dee of “Peppermint Twist” fame; and English classical composer Sarah Class. Plus several other guests including budding Egyptologist Sarah Kotlova; Garry Ridge, CEO of WD 40; David Bedford, Beatles Liverpool Tour Guide; Debbie Greenberg of The Cavern Club in Liverpool; podcasting star John Lee Dumas; and Reena Friedman’s Better Call Daddy podcast. --------------------------------------------- The Follow Your Dream Podcast: For more information and other episodes of the podcast click here. Mona Golabek is an author, actress and Grammy Nominated concert pianist. She has an important and touching Holocaust related story. It’s about her mother, Lisa Jura, at the time a 14 year old pianist living with her family in Vienna, who escaped from the Nazis to England via the Kindertransport program. Mona has written a book about this called “The Children of Willesden Lane”. She subsequently adapted it into a stage version which played in New York, London and elsewhere, starring Mona and for which she received several Best Actress nominations. Later still Mona created a foundation which has brought her mother’s story to over 10 million students and communities around the world. In addition to all this, Mona is a Grammy nominated pianist and the subject of several documentaries including “Concert For Mona” with Zubin Mehta. My featured song is “Ma Petite Fleur”.
