19 Jul 2022 | #28: HOW DO YOU HUNT DEER WITH NO WATER HOLES? | 00:24:07
Here in Utah, I hunt in the high desert and some areas do not have a water hole for miles. It's odd to me though because deer still frequent the area. So, what is a bowhunter to do to dial in the patterns more and possibly draw deer in? In this episode I talk about an option that involves burying a kiddie pool in the ground, now, this may not be allowed on public land in your area so you need to make sure you understand the laws. In my research, this was geared more towards private land owners. However, maybe there could be a natural way to promote water capture? Would love to hear your thoughts and open up this conversation. This Friday July 22nd 2022, I'll be at Total Archery Challenge in Park City. If you're around give me a shout! Also, check my Instagram for new FIRST GENERATION BOWHUNTER tees! 23 Mar 2022 | #10: THREE TIPS FOR BOWHUNTING FT. LISTENER SUBMISSION FROM MARK EVANS | 00:12:00
Listen in on three things you should try in your training and your next hunt. First, we got a great listener submission from Mark Evans, appreciate his thoughts on finding distance between you and multiple trees/objects to memorize the distances in your area without having to use your rangefinder in the moment of releasing an arrow. Next, try smoking venison and wrapping it in foil on your next hunt. Man it's good and keeps the meat very warm. Third, make sure to have the sun at your back when you're glassing, great way to help with contrast to find animals while you're scouting. 23 Dec 2022 | #50: HUNT RECAP: COW ELK UTAH LATE SEASON | 01:02:08
I learned so much on this hunt. And full disclosure, I took this elk with a rifle. So if you're a purist bowhunter, maybe this episode isn't for you. However, for new bowhunters, there is a ton of learnings I gained from this hunt that I share in this episode. Yes, 95% of the time I'm bowhunting but I saw this late season rifle elk hunt and had to go for it, which resulted in a kill and harvest. For me, I'm a pretty sucky elk hunter and so this hunt meant a ton to share it with my son and be able to bring home meat to fill the freezer. When we talk about being good at archery and being a good hunter, this hunt taught me to be a better hunter. And in the process, I was able to fill the freezer and share the experience with my son.
