19 Apr 2022Let ‘Nighttime You’ Take Care of ‘Morning You’ & Other Life Hacks (5th Thing)00:28:43

Welcome to the '5th Thing' with Amy & Kat!! You’ll love today’s quote if you deal with any kind of back pain…but hopefully the conversation surrounding it doesn’t offend you because someone on IG was offended by something Amy once posted about this topic (this obviously led to a little chat about getting offended easily!!) Amy then went over a list of awesome life hacks and broke down what it would look like to have your very own personal board of directors (yes, for yourself, not your business).

28 Oct 2023Do You Know Your True Value and Worth? (Part 3) (Outweigh)00:11:25

OUTWEIGH: Amy and Leanne are back for PART 3 of the 5-part Self-Image series called "Do You Know Your True Value and Worth?", where they take a deep dive into the concept of "Self Esteem", which revolves around the "know, like, and trust" factor of yourself.

Many women struggle with trusting themselves because they make promises to themselves but fail to follow through. And this is the cycle that causes you to lose trust and respect in yourself, and leads you to lack confidence and reliance on your own abilities. Instead of having a relationship of trust, confidence, and belief in yourself, your trust becomes negotiable, and it affects your entire self-image...until NOW!

Amy and Leanne walk you through the process of up-leveling and rewiring your self-image, so you can stop the cycle of making unkept promises, earn back your own trust, and make certain aspects of your life non-negotiable.

15 Oct 2024Why Can't Grown Men Communicate? (5th Thing) 00:27:40

Amy reminisces about the time her dad told her he had an affair & Kat gets vulnerable about why she always would sleep with her glasses on as a kid. Today’s quote: “Never let your storm get your kids wet.” is not Kat’s favorite at all, but Amy likes it and appreciates the sentiment. Apparently, there are 7 questions (listed below) you should ask your kids before it’s too late. As Amy goes over them with Kat….turns out they are also good questions to ask yourself or your friends!

- What do you think about a lot?

- What makes you happiest?

- How do you feel around me most of the time?

- Is there anything about the world or people you want to understand?

- What’s your favorite memory with our family?

- Is there anything you are worried or stressed about?

- Is there anything you want to learn together?

Bonus Quote:

“I love getting cute little good morning texts like “your order has shipped” - meme

22 Apr 2025Adult Dating, the Desire to Be Wanted & Leaning Into Fear01:27:15

Amy shares a personal story about the fears she had dating her boyfriend (a widower with three kids) and how her primal question of "Am I wanted?" came to the surface. Kat takes us through the emotion of gladness and why joy can sometimes feel just as scary as fear.

Fear and gladness are the final 2 core feelings, so make sure to listen to the previous episodes if you missed the other 6 feelings. Per usual, Amy & Kat share the gifts and impairments of each emotion (including the feeling of the day!)

Hope you enjoy the stories, therapy takeaways, and remember: if you have a “Lunch with Leslie” type situation pop up……it may just change your life!!!!

02 Jan 2024The Faith-Brain Connection: Where Self Image Meets Neuroscience (from “What’s God Got To Do With It?” with Leanne Ellington)00:46:23

While Amy’s on break, enjoy this episode from “What’s God Got To Do With It?” with Leanne Ellington - part of the Amy Brown Podcast Network!

In this episode, Leanne takes you on a journey to explore the profound interplay between faith, self-image, and neuroscience. Leanne breaks down (in simple science terms) how just influencing ONE specific part of the brain (the Anterior Cingulate Cortex (ACC), or the "social brain" as she calls it) can change the game for you -- simply by knowing about it -- as just this ONE part of the brain influences everything from self-perception and emotional pain to coping mechanisms and physical pain.

Inviting God into the conversation right away, she shares how this region of the brain drives our need for acceptance and connection while also playing a big role in your coping mechanisms or habits which you feel are "out of control".

And it's not just theory either, as she shares evidence-based scientific studies that show how faith has been proven to drastically impact everything from self-esteem and addiction recovery...to the alleviation of physical pain, and how THIS can hold the keys to your own mental and emotional health.

Ultimately, she's simply inviting you to 'try on' this idea that faith can be a catalyst for healing, strength, and transformation in the realm of mental and emotional well-being.

11 Feb 2023The Difference Between Overeating & Binge Eating (Outweigh)00:13:12

OUTWEIGH: Amy has had many disordered eating behaviors over the last 25 years, binge eating being one of them. A couple of questions Amy had early on in her recovery from binge eating were: "What is the difference between binge eating and overeating?" and "How can I tell the difference between the voices of my lower brain (that causes binges) and my higher brain (that could stop me from the binges)?" She answers both of those questions from her personal experience and the tools that worked best for her.

25 May 2023This One Thing Changed Amy's Life for the Better00:56:38

Amy's friend, Chase, joins her for this talk because this same "one thing" has changed his life for the better too! This one thing = stillness!! What is stillness? Well, achieving stillness looks different for everyone, but it requires the mind, body, and spirit to slow down!! All three parts of us have to slow down so much that we quiet our minds enough to receive intuitive guidance, hear from God, and get into the flow.

Amy's preferred methods to get still are mediation, prayer, journaling and this mantra from Gabby Bernstein: "Stillness is my key to success." This mantra/belief has been a game changer for Amy. She thinks more clearly, surrenders with ease, feels more peace, sees the bigger picture, is more fulfilled, and the list goes on!!!

In a nutshell, this episode is simply Amy and Chase having an open and honest conversation about stillness, aligning with God, faith, love, fear and more. Hope you enjoy it!!

03 Jun 2023Learning to Love My Body Will Take Time, But I'm Okay With That (Outweigh)00:10:59

OUTWEIGH: We're bombarded with pressure to look a certain way. It can be overwhelming and constantly worrying about your appearance can distract you from living your life. Amy wants you to feel empowered by rejecting these thoughts and to start practicing radical self-love! To help you REFRAME things, Amy shares positive affirmations/mantras that will help you on your journey towards loving yourself more: mindy, body and soul! The goal of the affirmations is to train your brain to overcome self-sabotaging thoughts. Reframing takes time, but you are worth it, and it can start with 1 simple affirmation (although Amy shares several for you to work with!) Amy also closes this episode out with 2 journaling prompts that will help you have more positive thoughts about yourself and gratitude for your body!

20 Oct 2022If It’s Not A Hell Yes, It’s A No + Encouragement To Explore, Dream, Discover + We’re Meant to Lose Our Way + Home Hacks00:26:46

FIRST THING:
Amy loves listening to Oprah’s podcast & her intro gets Amy every single time! She loves it. It goes like this: "I'm Oprah Winfrey. Welcome to Super Soul Conversations: The Podcast. I believe one of the most valuable gifts you can give yourself is time—taking time to be more fully present. Your journey to become more inspired & connected to the deeper world around us starts right now." TIME IS A GIFT!!! However, time can be hard to find, so Amy shares some tips from Ally Fallon’s (@AllyFallon) book: The Power of Writing It Down on “Making Space In Your Calendar” — these tips will help you take an honest look at your calendar so you can see where all your time is going! Also, you’ve likely heard the saying: “If it’s not a hell yes, it’s a no” — try to keep that in mind when you’re looking at your calendar too!

SECOND THING:
Amy talks about exploring, dreaming & discovering with her brother-in-law Ben Dozier.
It all started with this Mark Twain quote: “Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.” Ben then shares a motto his family & business has adopted that is in alignment with this quote and it’s “vamos afuera” which means let’s go out / let’s go outside! They like to say that and see where it takes them! What are your vamos afuera moments in life??? Another good quote to keep in mind that has a similar theme is this Chinese Proverb: “The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The second best time is now.”

THIRD THING:
Amy shares a post that recently resonated with her from @TheAngryTherapist! It’s all about how we are meant to lose our way because that is how we find ourselves. The post is from his Instagram page on October 3rd if you want to go back and read it.

FOURTH THING:
Amy saw someone share that they often search thrift stores for cute casserole dishes…so that way when they have to make a home cooked meal for someone…they can deliver it in a REAL DISH that the person can then just keep (and not have to worry about washing & returning). Such a good idea, right?? This led to Amy sharing some other “home hacks” from a cool account that’s gone viral on TikTok called: @CreativeExplained

17 Nov 2022Give Fear Space, Try Stream of Consciousness Writing, Make Easy Cookies (You're Welcome), & Seek Change Out Of Love (Not Hate) For Yourself00:19:07

FIRST THING - Give Fear Space:

Amy's friend @LisaHayim put up a post on Instagram recently about giving fear space! Everything she shared about fear is so spot on, including the things we can do instead of pushing through fear (thank you Lisa for the tips!) We second Lisa's plea to normalize being afraid, have healthy skepticism, and give fear some breathing space. Such a good IG post!!! Speaking of IG, Amy also shares that you need to be following @BrunchWithBabs on IG if you’re not already! Her bio: “the internet mom/grandma you didn’t know you needed - come for family recipes, stay for the motherly advice!”

SECOND THING - Try Stream Of Consciousness Writing:

One of Amy's recent journal entries was dedicated to this mantra: "Think thoughts about what you want to be." and that led into her making a list of all the things she wants to be and then flowed into "stream of consciousness writing" - a helpful tool that Amy uses to just get everything from her brain to paper!

Benefits of Stream of Consciousness Writing:

-allows you to avoid overthinking

-takes you on a journey of self-discovery

-stops writer's block

-teaches you to be vulnerable

-helps you explore your thinking patterns

-can help you make decisions

-you can discover your writing style

-can help release your mental load

THIRD THING - Make Easy Cookies:

It's that time of year!!! Amy always loves to remind you about her favorite & VERY easy Pumpkin Cookies. They require only 2 ingredients.

Ingredients:

-1 can of pumpkin puree (15 oz)

-1 box spice cake mix (or simple mills pumpkin muffin mix)

Instructions:

-Preheat the oven to 350°

-Line baking sheet with parchment paper

-Mix your pumpkin and cake mix together in a medium bowl until there are no more lumps.

-Scoop a tablespoon(ish) onto baking sheet & keep them an inch or 2 apart

-Bake for 13-15 minutes or until the edges start to golden a little bit

-Remove from the oven & allow cookies to cool - if you can even wait that long before eating one!

*You can also frost them with cream cheese, vanilla, or a sugar glaze icing if you want to go the extra mile, but not necessary (as that would technically be a 3rd ingredient and we don't have time for that!!)

FOURTH THING - Seek Change Out Of Love (Not Hate) For Yourself:

Amy actually shares 4 things inside this fourth thing - it's like inception - or something??

One of the most popular 4 things items for Christmas is now available - for a limited time - red customizable Christmas pullovers! You can put whatever 4 things you want (each thing just has to be 13 characters or less!) For example Amy's says:

BABY JESUS.

MARIAH CAREY.

FAMILY TIME.

COOKIES.

These pullovers also go towards supporting Haiti, so if you want to make some as gifts or for a cute family pajama pictures (just add flannel bottoms & everyone looks festive) then order soon - because you'll want enough time to get them made & shipped out to your before the holiday season really kicks into gear!

19 Oct 2024Breaking the Cycle of Broken Promises: Reclaiming Your Self-Trust (Outweigh)00:20:22

OUTWEIGH: Have you ever found yourself making promise after promise to “start fresh on Monday” or “stick to your plan this time,” only to fall off track again and again? If so, you’re not alone—and today’s episode of Outweigh is for you. In this powerful episode, Leanne Ellington tackles the struggle that so many women face: breaking the cycle of broken promises and learning how to rebuild self-trust.

Leanne opens up about her own journey and explains how every broken promise and failed diet creates memories that get locked into your brain, forming a self-fulfilling prophecy of failure and eroding your trust in yourself. This cycle isn’t just about food or exercise—it’s about the emotional weight you carry when you feel like you can’t follow through.

Tune in as Leanne shares why typical diet and fitness plans fall short: they address the surface-level symptoms but not the root cause—your brain’s wiring and self-image. It’s not about “fixing” yourself—it’s about transforming your self-image and rewiring your brain for sustainable success and self-trust.

11 May 2023Affection In Relationships. Being Misunderstood. Stress & Digestion. Aging Positively.00:30:13

FIRST THING: Have you ever just sat and stared your partner or a friend in the eyes? You might end up trying it out after listening to this episode. Affection in a relationship with a partner or a friend (or even a pet!) might mean trying new things like the "slow blink" method to connect. It also might require conversations or research because not everyone shows affection in the same ways. We all need affection. Giving it, as well as receiving it, helps us feel good!

SECOND THING: Do you feel misunderstood on text at times? Amy had a communication mishap over text this week and she realizes that it all could have been avoided if the person could have heard her tone from the beginning. Misinterpretation is caused by perception.  And because perceptions are unique to each of us, it’s inevitable that misinterpretation will happen to us all…so maybe having difficult conversations on text should be avoided?!! Amy also defines the true meaning of an emoji that she is always confused by when people send it.

THIRD THING: Do you want less stress and more flow? Less stress and better gut health? Amy shares 5 holistic ways to reduce stress from a doctor and then a 6th way with Tina Anderson, founder of Just Thrive. Amy takes (and pays for with her own money) the Just Thrive probiotic every day and has for the last 2 years (along with their Gut-4-tify). She recently added their Just Calm to the mix. Tina joins Amy to talk about Just Calm because stress is impacting our digestive system and our cognitive health. We are all about anything that can help us stay calm and clear when we feel stressed...and that's where Just Calm comes to the rescue. Tina has given ‘4 Things’ listeners a code…just enter 4THINGS when you check out HERE & you’ll save 20%!

FORTH THING: Are you okay with aging? If you’re not, you should start being okay with it. Why? Because researchers from the Yale School of Public Health discovered that thinking positively about the aging process can slow cognitive decline in older adults. They found that people who held “positive age beliefs” were more likely to recover from mild cognitive impairment than those who didn’t. Amy used to not be okay with aging, but now she’s into it and can’t wait to see what her 40s and 50s bring!! Just remember no matter your age…you are useful to society, work, family, etc…

Hope you’re having the day you need to have!!

02 Oct 2021Self Image: From Social Media to Dating Apps00:20:25

We live in a world that allows us to filter and/or edit any pictures we put up online (whether on social media or dating apps). It can really mess with our self image. If we keep seeing ourselves filtered over and over again...we are going to be disappointed when we look in the mirror. It's okay to want to like what you look like in a picture, but to what extremes are we going through to get that perfect picture? And what if we displayed our personality more online instead of curating a bunch of perfect pictures? We have the ability to create a firm foundation of who we are and why we are online. When we have that foundation...we are less likely to seek affirmation from people on these platforms because we have it from ourselves.

16 Oct 2021Personal ED Stories From the Outweigh Archives00:42:37

This is a conversation that lives in Ep. 2 of the "OG" 4-part OUTWEIGH series from 2020 on the '4 Things With Amy Brown' podcast. If you haven't listened to all 4 parts...we highly encourage you to check it out. Doing that 4-part series introduced us to licensed therapist, @Kat.Deffata, and for that we are forever grateful. Hope you enjoy revisiting (or hearing for the first time) the day Lisa & Amy met Kat...they unpacked a lot that day (especially regarding Amy's ED story) that could be helpful to you! Kat's wisdom in this field is priceless & we appreciate her willingness to share some of her ED story with us as well.

09 May 2024How to Better Understand Yourself00:43:02

Amy starts off with '4 Things Gratitude' sharing with you 4 things she's currently thankful for & hopefully through her gratitude you'll learn about some things to check out & then she shares some words of wisdom from Ally Fallon that will lead living life with more purpose & confidence.

FIRST THING: She's selling her house & here's the YouTube video she references "Declutter Your Home: The Ultimate Guide to Selling Fast | How to Get Rid of Your Stuff." (this is helpful for anyone...not just if you're selling your home!)

SECOND THING: Amy changed the energy of her home to an 8. What does that mean?? Well, read this Address Numerology blog that Amanda wrote and listen to this episode where Amanda told Amy about why she needs to change her home from a 2 to an 8 and it will all make more sense!

THIRD THING: Amy has felt so pulled together lately thanks to her new Yellow Rose by Kendra Scott jewelry. All of the pieces are so cute, cowgirl vibes & ranch inspired because 'country is cool again!' Girls trip to Austin anytime soon? Go by the Yellow Rose store hat bar and get custom hats to always remember the trip....so fun!

FOURTH THING: Ally Fallon's book launch party was on Tuesday night, so Write Your Story: A Simple Framework to Understand Yourself, Your Story, and Your Purpose in the World is officially out in the world and ready for people to read. Donald Miller read his forward for the book at the party and I loved his opening lines: "Years ago, I met a psychologist who gave me some advice about choosing friends. She said this: 'choose people who have a story to tell, rather than those who tell stories.'" Such a good quote. Ally feels strongly that writing our stories helps us understand ourselves so we can live with more purpose and confidence.

FUN FACT: Ally's Write Your Story Podcast is on Amy's network, so she's highlighting an episode that Ally put up last month that further dives into why writing our stories is so helpful....even if we never plan on anyone else reading it. This is such a good listen If you feel like you’re telling the same story over and over again....like the details may change (new boss, new partner, new hometown) but the cycle of the story keepings repeating itself.

02 Jul 2022Don’t Miss Out On 95% Of Your Life Just To Weigh 5% Less + Tips For Holiday Weekends! (Outweigh)00:17:15

OUTWEIGH: It's 4th of July weekend…so Amy took a trip down memory lane sharing ways she used to treat this holiday while living with an active eating disorder. Her life looks very different now…so she wanted to dedicate this episode to YOU living your best life this weekend by giving some tools to take with you to the celebrations/parties/BBQs. She goes over 5 food tips for the holiday weekend (hint: starts with eating breakfast!!!) and went over a list of foods that are bad for you (spoiler alert: it’s foods that you’re allergic to, or have mold on them because foods are neither good nor bad).

As Leanne shares the practical path she needed to take to meet her in her own skepticism, doubt, and curiosity, Kevin shares his own insights and wisdom on how we can all take steps to meet ourselves where we are.

The 4 Steps they shared specifically were:

Step 4: Investing in Transformation

11 Nov 2023Do You Know Your True Value and Worth? (Part 5) (Outweigh)00:11:54

OUTWEIGH: Amy and Leanne are back for PART 5 of the 5-part Self-Image series called "Do You Know Your True Value and Worth?", where they take a deep dive into the concept of "Self Endorsement".

It's not practical or even possible for anyone (specially women) to completely disregard what others think about them. However, what is possible is learning to value your own opinion of yourself (even just a little bit) more than someone else's opinion of you.

Imagine a world where you might LIKE that validation, but you don't NEED external endorsement to determine your own self-worth, beauty, or desirability. That is the conversation that Amy and Leanne invite you into in this episode, helping you to ultimately reshape your own self-image in a more empowering way.

24 Feb 2024PART 2: Do You WANT to Stop Dieting, But You Have No Idea What That Even Looks Like (and the alternative terrifies you!)? Let's Talk About It! (Outweigh)00:20:14

OUTWEIGH: Leanne is back for Part 2 of this series to help you understand how to get off the diet roller coaster for good.

So many women WANT to stop dieting, but they don't know how, or they don't know what that even looks like, because it's all they've ever known.

So this idea of "food freedom" or NOT being on some sort of diet is not only foreign to them, but it's actually pretty scary, because all their brain has known is what it's like to count, measure, restrict, and control.

Or their brain knows what it's like to bounce to the opposite end of the spectrum, and end up in an uncontrollable cycle of mindless eating, emotional eating, stress eating, or binging, and they just end up feeling super out-of-control.

This week Leanne is laying out the 5 step crystal-clear path way to finally STOP dieting without feeling like you're going off the deep end if you're NOT on something.

HOST: @leanneellington

13 Aug 2024Manage Chaos & Unleash Joy + Kat's Narcissistic Trait (5th Thing)00:31:42

Such a fun chat! Amy & Kat have a special guest...Amanda Rieger Green (Amy's psychic cousin!) Conversation starts around today's quote which is from Alissa Boyer: “You can be the nicest, kindest person, and you still may be the villain in someone else’s story. Have you ever had to deal with someone thinking you're a villain when really you just needed to set a boundary? They touch on how to handle this!

Amy reads a special email from a listener named Susan from Austin and she's also written a really cool book that you may need in your life: Art for Your Sanity— How Art Journaling Can Help You Manage Chaos and Unleash Joy (she wrote this book after hearing Ally Fallon on the podcast...which is so special!!)

Do you have good work boundaries? (i.e. not working at certain times or sending emails during work hours) They each share how they've implemented different rules around when they will send work notes to people....and it's stuff that could be a gamechanger for all!

BONUS QUOTE:
“I want AI to do my laundry and dishes so that I can do art and writing, not for AI to do my art and writing so that I can do my laundry and dishes.”

08 Mar 2022Everything From Ukraine to Psychopaths to Payphones & Pagers to Gratitude to The Doggie Lama to Cutting Out Dairy to Amy’s Sour Cream Obsession (this episode covers a lot of random things, lol) (5th Thing)00:37:48

Welcome to the '5th Thing' with Amy & Kat!! After some Ukraine info & support updates…they kicked things off with some @elarroyo_atx sign quotes (always the best when you need a good laugh) which led to talking about early morning meet ups on Saturdays and how media consumption is totally different for “kids these days”. Amy had to explain to Kat how a pager used to work back in the day! First email they got into is from Sarah, who shared ‘4 things’ she wanted Amy & Kat to know, and that led to conversation about several things (including Amy’s missing Texas A&M ring, gratitude journaling, how Kat makes notes in her phone for things she’s thankful for, and ‘ The Doggie Lama’!) Next email is from Michelle, who shared a little bit about her ‘war with food’ and how she’s working to have a better relationship with it. Amy talked about how she eliminated dairy in her disordered eating days and now that she’s allowing it again, she is currently obsessed with sour cream! And more!!!!!

14 May 2024We All Eat Lies When Our Hearts Are Hungry (5th Thing)00:31:45

A listener named Val sent us a great email full of amazing quotes that guided Amy's chat with Kat for this episode. Val divided them into 2 categories: serious & funny...we appreciate both (they're all listed below) and in addition to the quotes Kat played a round of "Make It Or Break It" with Amy (to see what she's down with when it comes to dating!)

SERIOUS:

- The tighter we cling to an identity, the harder it becomes to grow beyond it.

- I have already lost touch with a couple of people I used to be

- You will find that it is necessary to let things go; simply for the reason that they are heavy.

- Buy less, choose well.

- We all eat lies when our hearts are hungry

- Just because you don't look like somebody who you think is attractive doesn't mean you aren't attractive. Flowers are pretty, but so are Christmas lights and they look nothing alike.

- Everyone you meet always asks if you have a career, are married or own a house as if life was some kind of grocery list. But no one ever asks if you are happy.

FUNNY:

- I've moved past having a depressive episode. I am actually having a depressive series. Season 8 available now.

- I'm not a licensed interior designer but I just figured out you can make a room look 30% bigger if you put away the 14 loads of laundry on the floor.

- Neighbor said hi again...I'm just gonna move.

- Lucky for me, I don't have enough friends for an intervention

- I don't understand your specific kind of crazy, but I do admire your total commitment to it.

- My room is not dirty. I just have everything on display...like a museum.

- Some of you youths are going to be really disappointed when you discover that turning

- 30 just means that you still have all the same weird interests but you can't turn your head all the way to the left anymore.

- Hey, sorry for being so anxious earlier, I had no idea that everything would be fine.

- I keep telling people that a vanilla soy latte is technically a three bean soup, but nobody understands. They just nod and smile like I'M the crazy one.

- I found out why I'm still single. Apparently, you have to go outside and let people see you.

01 Jul 2023Two Things Can Be True At The Same Time: Part 3 [The Mini-Series] (Outweigh)00:15:09

OUTWEIGH: You can be on the journey to self-love and self-worth... AND still have really crappy thoughts about yourself show up.

Yep....it's true! Even the most confident, self-assured, empowered women can have "ugly" thoughts about themselves. This does NOT have to mean anything, and in fact, it's totally normal. What matters most is how you RESPOND (instead of react) to those thoughts. And that's why on this episode of Outweigh, we share some very important distinctions that you'll want to keep in mind around this subject specifically.

Amy & Leanne are back again for the THIRD episode of the Mini-Series Two Things Can Be True At The Same Time (Normalizing the In-Betweens and Healing From Extremism) where they share their thoughts and takeaways on how you can have BOTH: You can be on the journey to self-love and self-worth... AND still have really crappy thoughts about yourself show up.

13 Jun 2023All Relationships, Regardless of Length, Have a Purpose (5th Thing)00:23:56

Amy hosted an event the other night with Kelsea Ballerini and Kelsie mentioned this quote: “People come into your life for a reason, a season, or a lifetime.” Amy shared it as the quote for this episode and the main idea behind “reason, season, lifetime” is that all relationships, regardless of their length, have some sort of purpose. Kelsea also has a song about ride or die friendships “If You Go Down (I’m Going Down Too)” so Amy & Kat discussed what they would be willing to do for each other…“Goodbye Earl” style???

ALSO DISCUSSED:
- Amy’s story about a worker at her house that made a murder joke (which led to a note from a listener that works at ADT reminding us you can make temp codes for workers!)
- List of smart tips for living alone, but honestly they are good tips for families to implement too! Example: “Say hello + goodbye out loud when arriving or leaving your house as if you’re talking to a real person. That way people don’t assume you live alone.”
- Email from Tiffany about how we don’t have to allow other people’s perceptions of things to rule our lives.
- Email From Heather about Amy’s psychic cousin’s new podcast: Soul Sessions with Amanda Reiger Green
- Amy told Kat about the ‘Let Them Theory’ that was discussed on last week’s 4 things episode

18 Apr 2024The Only Way Out Is Through with Gracie Moakler00:37:27

Do you believe in signs from the other side? Amy does & her guest, Gracie Moakler, has a powerful story about a message she recently received from the other side. It's so clear that God was using this sign (from Gracie's sister) as a way to bring comfort and peace when it was very much needed. Amy also shares a message she got from her mom a few days ago (via a cardinal) that was very comforting as well. Side note: Go listen to Kacey Musgraves' song Cardinal ASAP if you haven't listened to it yet...it's so good!! If you don't believe in signs...well don't worry...they chat about other things too!

Gracie is the founder of Emergency Confetti, a mom of 2, and wife to her sweet husband Steve...she wears a lot of hats and at times she wonders what she's gotten herself into. Being a small business owner comes with challenges...but if you want the garden...you've got to pull the weeds (fave quote from the episode!) Gracie has had to learn to expand + to not make her business her identity (i.e. separating herself from hard situations like taking out a big loan to make aforementioned expansion possible) + to not compare herself to other moms/business owners on social media.

Gracie & Amy also talk about they're attempt at little to no clothes shopping this year + joy vs. happiness + 4 things gratitude (Gracie shares a book, a show, a drink and an IG follow that she's thankful for...so maybe there's a 'recommendation' in her gratitude that you'd enjoy!)

27 Apr 2023Stop Procrastinating. Be Proactive. Know Your Worth. Pray For Haiti.00:37:12

Going old school today with 4 totally different things! If you procrastinate...you're going to enjoy the FIRST THING, where Amy breaks down the 'Pomodoro Technique' so you can give it a try the next time you catch yourself putting something off. Remember: “The dread of doing a task uses up more time and energy than doing the task itself.” — Rita Emmett

Think you have adult ADHD? The SECOND THING is for you, but it also turned into a PSA to do your breast exams, be your own advocate & be as proactive as possible with your health.

THIRD THING is a blog post (You Are Worthy) from a listener named Alyssa Khrystyne! She wrote about her experience at the live podcast in Nashville & shared 4 main things that she took away from being there. We also love the super cool way God answered Alyssa's prayer about who to bring with her to the live...so special!!

Amy's friends at @myLIFEspeaks inspired the FOURTH THING with a heartbreaking update from Haiti & an urgent request for prayer. Go to their IG to see the post that Amy shared & tap the link in their bio for a script if you decide to reach out to your representatives.

15 Aug 2023Debating If I Should Continue My Healing Journey or Go Insane? (5th Thing)00:38:39

Just because you’ve been in therapy for 15 years (or however long) and you still go doesn’t mean something is wrong with you or that it’s not working. Some people seem to think that there is a final destination when it comes to personal growth and that’s just not the case. This topic came up because of today's quote: “Debating if I should continue my healing journey or go insane?” (this made us Lol because it most definitely hits home for some days!)

Does Amy have some weird disease?? Amy has an underlying issue that is causing her mouth to be really dry. If anyone has any idea what this could be….let us know!

Shoutout Little Words Project!! Amy was given LWP bracelets by two different friends at a radio seminar this last weekend. One friend gave her ‘BLOOM’ and another gave her ‘KEEP GOING’ - these bracelets are so cute!

Do you know the difference between unplugging and recharging? It’s very important to know the difference and make sure you’re doing both!

What does Amy do with her wedding ring now that she is divorced? Jewelry is precious, so keeping it in the family is likely what she will do! Thoughts?

Amy & Kat talk about all of this & MORE! Hope you enjoy and have the day you need to have!!
