26 Mar 2019Faith in Parents #8 Talking About the Tough Stuff00:39:20

Ed and Jam talk about how we speak to children about death and judgement. Ed interviews Graham Daniels (aka Danno) from Christians in Sport.

Ed accidentally direct people to John 11 and John 16 for great stories to help children cope with death. He mis-spoke. And meant to suggest John 11 and John 14:1-6.

21 Sep 2022Faith In Parents #97 | The Transgender Debate and Gender Identity00:51:59

Our culture is busy talking about Gender identity. This episode is for families that feel ill equipped to tackle this topic and would prefer to avoid the conversation. We’d love to support you to step up so that your children can hear the better Christian story.

Where this is a present reality in your family, church or community, you’re wondering, “How did we get here? What did we do wrong?” This episode will comfort and urge you to cling to God’s care.

Whatever your family's experience, join in the conversation that encourages parents, reduces panic, builds confidence, offers helpful language and reminds us of the simple rock solid principles God gives.

Andrew Bunt, shares his own childhood experience of being gender non conformist, feeling trapped in the wrong body and how his Christian faith offered him freedom. Andrew also works for Living Out.

05 Oct 2022Faith In Parents #98 | Lost and Found00:50:47

Would you still love me if…?
How easy is it to come clean about our mistakes?
Do your kids find it hard to apologise?  What about you?

Perhaps you’re more of an older brother in the story of the lost son, depending on your own performance as if God’s love has to be earned.  Or a younger brother who fears they’ve gone too far as if God’s love can be lost.

Join in a helpfully practical conversation that tackles both of these identity struggles with Ed Drew, Graham Beynon, and Karen Sleeman.

Ed Drew - the Director of Faith in Kids grounds the conversation in how we would parent / care for younger primary, upper primary / secondary school children and their families facing these struggles.

Karen Sleeman - is the pastoral associate for families in her local church and enjoys working with parents, children and adolescents. She has completed the BCUK intern Scheme and has training in child and adolescent mental health and is working towards accreditation as a family therapist.

Dr Graham Beynon - is the pastor of Grace Church, Cambridge, and Director of Independent Ministry Training at Oak Hill. He is the author of a number of books including Mirror Mirror, Emotions: Living Life in Colour (2012, IVP), God’s New Community: New Testament Patterns for Today’s Church (2005, IVP), Planting for the Gospel: a hands on guide to church planting (2011, Christian Focus) and Isaac Watts: His Life and Thought (2013, Christian Focus). 19 Oct 2022Faith In Parents #99 | Parenting Boys. Parenting Girls.00:46:38

"Are boys different from girls?”
We probably begin answering that question confidently - then start to feel a little anxious, back out and decide to avoid the topic.

On this Faith in Parents episode Matt Fuller, Gen Johnston and Ed Drew tackle the topic together and help us wrap our heads around what the Bible says.
We also hear from Andrew Bunt.

Our “Who am I?” series of resources aims to equip churches and families to open up conversations about identity, join in the conversation.

If you've listened to this and want to know more about gender identity, you can start by listening to another one of our podcasts which speaks into this topic. Find that here.

Matt Fuller:  Matt is the Senior Minister of Christ Church Mayfair. He is married to Ceri. They are very grateful to God for their teenage son, who will imminently flee the nest. He was on the staff of the church when it was planted in January 2001 and has had the enormous pleasure of seeing many people trust in Christ and grow in their faith during this time. He is the author of numerous books including  ‘Be true to yourself’.

Gen Johnston: Genevieve is on the staff team at Dundonald Church helping the pastors to think through how as a church we disciple or deploy the women in our church in ministry. She’s married to Johnno, they have three teenage daughters and a beloved dog.

Ed Drew, the Director of Faith in Kids grounds the conversation in how we would parent / care for younger primary, upper primary / secondary school children and their families facing these struggles.

Summer is here!

Join us on an adventure to Chile to chat with Matt in a coffee shop in Santiago. Hear about parenting, holidays and Humboldt penguins on the other side of the world! Matt Pope is married to Helen and they have two children, Eva (16 yrs old) and Judah (14 yrs old). They are passionate about supporting healthy church-planting churches. They are based in Chile’s capital. Santiago has a population of over 7 million people – but only a tiny proportion of them belong and serve in churches clearly proclaiming God’s word.

Matt and Helen are working with people from across different denominations. They want to help pastors and their families to grow in their faiths, to grow their churches, to train leaders and to be equipped to plant more churches in the future.
