03 Dec 2018 | 12/02: Lagerald Vick saves Kansas; Nevada exceeding the hype; comparing the CFP to the NCAA Tournament | 00:58:39
There were no major upsets this weekend. But a handful of good teams -- No. 1 Gonzaga, No. 2 Kansas, No. 20 Texas Tech, etc., -- were pushed by unranked opponents. The pod opens on that, then gets to Lagerald Vick and Kansas (3:09) and Nevada's 8-0 start (12:43). On Sunday, Arizona got to 6-2 (20:17). Is Sean Miller going to get the Wildcats back to the NCAA Tournament even though most predicted he wouldn't? As for UConn (24:45), Akok Akok committed, which is big. Then the fun begins. Norlander has Parrish play "Guess the Celebrity" (28:31) and the guys wrap with a wide-ranging conversation on the College Football Playoff and how it compares to the NCAA Tournament process (37:10).

09 Dec 2020 | Illinois exposes Duke, Coach K questions the season, Iowa proves its worth vs. UNC (College Basketball 12/09) | 00:48:48
You were locked in to a big Tuesday night of hoops, so we’ve got you covered here on a Wednesday. The opener of the pod discusses Duke’s issues — Parrish still has the Blue Devils ranked — and Illinois totally looking the part of top-five team. There was also Mike Krzyzewski’s criticism of even playing college basketball right now; the guys touch on that, too. Then it’s time to talk Iowa (20:00) over North Carolina and Kansas (27:05) over Creighton. Maybe even a little Rutgers, too? Sure! Michigan State-Virginia has been postponed unfortunately, but there’s still a good Wednesday night slate and one very good game to know for Thursday.

27 Dec 2019 | 12/27: Speculation increases that Cole Anthony might not play again in college; final four + 1 picks | 00:59:02
College basketball has a solid schedule on a weekend that will be highlighted by the college football playoff and the final week of the NFL's regular season. On today's ep, Gary Parrish and Matt Norlander open with some extended thoughts on their year-in-review ep from earlier this week, then get to a report that has some NBA personnel believing Cole Anthony (11:00) has played his last game in college. From there, the guys make their picks for the weekend in the Final Four + 1 (21:00), including Louisville-Kentucky, Kansas-Stanford and West Virginia-Ohio State.

30 Dec 2019 | 12/29: Kentucky finds its groove, UCLA finds its worse loss in maybe ever, and welcome to the party, WVU! | 01:11:12
The guys have a loaded pod, as always. It starts with some UCLA talk off the top; did you realize the Bruins took their worst loss of the KenPom era over the weekend? Also on tap: Kentucky over Louisville (16:30), West Virginia’s return thanks to its win over Ohio State (24:00), some chiding of Stanford (36:00) after it failed to show vs. Kansas — and a detour to talk about Kansas making it back to San Jose safely after engine failure on its flight out of the Bay Area. The pod wraps with Arkansas (49:00) winning at Indiana, and our listener review of the week. Plus: GP one-ups Norlander by revealing he’s previously had appendicitis.

The first episode of 2020 of the Eye on College Basketball Podcast leads with a little NYE chatter, then gets into Butler and the Big East (5:00), which might be the best league in America and certainly enters the new year set up to get at least five bids for the NCAA Tournament. The guys also discuss a most unlikely to close out 2019 (16:00) and get to three interesting mailbag questions (23:00), as usual for the Wednesday eps.

06 Jan 2020 | 01/05: Gonzaga. vs. Duke vs. Kansas for the best team in college basketball. Who you got? | 00:52:05
On Sunday, Michigan State got a career-high 32 points from Cassius Winston en route to a dominating and convincing win over Michigan. Gary Parrish and Matt Norlander open on that game with extended thoughts on Sparty and Winston. Then they get to some stats and chatter about the two unbeaten teams still standing (12:00), 13-0 Auburn and 15-0 San Diego State. Amid some other passing thoughts on a few results from the weekend, the guys wrap with a debate on the No. 1 team in the country (23:50). Parrish says Gonzaga. Norlander says Duke. At the end, the return of 2-year-old Tony Hinkle.

08 Jan 2020 | 01/08: So, we're gonna start things off by talking about R U T G E R S | 00:51:54
Rutgers basketball is on the loose. The Scarlet Knights have their best start in four-plus decades and could make the NCAA tourney for the first time in almost 30 years. Why not start there? Gary Parrish and Matt Norlander then get to some other weirdness: Boston College over Virginia (9:30) and springboard that convo to one about the stinky ACC overall. The guys touch on Ohio State's swoon (19:00) and Baylor's nice win at Texas Tech (22:00), which sets up a big game this weekend at Kansas. And it's a fun mailbag (28:00) episode with some creative questions that get GP and Norlander going.

15 Jan 2020 | 01/15: Clemson just beat UNC and Duke in consecutive games for the first time in 30 years. Plus: mailbag! | 00:53:54
Hump day edition of the pod opens with Clemson's win over Duke, combined with some thoughts on why predictive metrics still have the Blue Devils at No. 1 and how that runs counter to proper ranking protocol. From there, the guys get to discussing the ethical matters of whether it's right to fire a coach midseason (21:00), then get to mailbag questions (35:00), which include Norlander poorly attempting to speak in a British accent, a parallel universe for Virginia and whether Mark Emmert should be fired.

20 Jan 2020 | 01/19: Do not curb your enthusiasm: We just had an eventful weekend, so here's loads of thoughts on more than a dozen games | 01:13:40
Eight ranked teams took losses over the weekend. This podcast is stacked with a look at the landscape of the sport, starting with Louisville dishing Duke its second straight loss. From there, where else to go but Rutgers and the Big Ten (14:00)? We've got some Trivia Time! to get to as well. Speaking off: Vanderbilt (30:30) had its 1,080-game streak of made 3s snapped. And at the 35:00-minute mark, Norlander takes you on a 20-minute tour of nearly a dozen games of note from Saturday. The pod wraps with some miscellaneous chatter that we think you'll enjoy. Does this podcast make you RANDY, baby, does it?

13 Jan 2020 | 01/12: Rush to judgement? Who is the best team in college basketball: Gonzaga, Duke or Baylor | 01:00:13
This episode opens with Norlander's playful revenge on Parrish, after Baylor proved him correct by winning at Kansas for the first time in school history. Oh, there is a roll call. The guys then get to discussing the compelling debate between Gonzaga, Baylor and Duke for No. 1 status. From there, of course a few words on Clemson (22:00) ending the streak and beating UNC at UNC for the first time in program history. Also, a curious and helpless exercise: GP and Norlander attempt to predict how the Big Ten (32:00) will finish 1-14. They agree on only three teams' ultimate placement. There is also movie chatter. And a listener review special.

22 Jan 2020 | 01/22: Kansas' Silvio De Sousa indefinitely suspended, plus UVA's chances of missing the NCAAs and Illinois' surge back to relevance | 00:43:13
A carryover conversation from Tuesday's overnight emergency pod, this episode extends the conversation with many thoughts from Parrish on the K-State/Kansas fight. NOTE: this podcast was recorded shortly before Bill Self announced Silvio De Sousa was indefinitely suspended, so there is no direct reference to that. After the K-State/Kansas discussion, Parrish and Norlander differ on whether they think Virginia (20:00) will miss the NCAA Tournament. Who won't miss it? Illinois (26:00). Norlander discusses his conversation with Illini coach Brad Underwood. And since this is a Wednesday ep, we've got your listener mailbag (33:30).

On Wednesday night, South Carolina beat Kentucky at the buzzer, paying homage once more to Gamecock legend Devan Downey. There is no other place we could start then there. What's more, Gary Parrish and Matt Norlander touch on Gonzaga (11:00) for a quick minute before getting to Cole Anthony essentially promising he'll soon return to play for UNC (19:00). The final 15 minutes of the podcast gives you a tour of arguably the best weekend yet for college hoops slates. GP and Norlander make their picks (26:00) in the Final Four + 1 and only have agreement on one game.

10 Jan 2020 | 01/09: Norlander explains why he ranks Kansas lower than everyone else; Final Four + 1 picks led by big Baylor-KU CBS game | 00:49:38
On Thursday, Matt Norlander revealed his latest power rankings, and to the surprise of many a confused Kansas fan, he put the Jayhawks seventh. Gary Parrish most definitely does not approve. So what gives? Norlander explains, then the guys get to North Carolina's nosedive (15:00) into one of the worst seasons in school history and Cole Anthony's future with the Heels. What's more, they touch on Zion Williamson's admission this week (21:00) that he wanted to be at Duke right now, playing as a sophomore. Then it's time for the Final Four + 1, which sees the guys agreeing on two games and splitting on three others.

On Thursday night, the Pac-12 had centerstage in college hoops. Colorado beat Oregon and UCLA won at Washington. Gary Parrish and Matt Norlander open on those games, then get into a Trivia Time! that goes sideways in a hurry. They also touch on Bill Self (18:30) commenting on Seth Greenberg's "bold prediction" that Self will leave Kansas for San Antonio. The Final Four + 1 includes picks for Michigan-Michigan State, West Virginia-Kansas and Creighton-Butler.

02 Feb 2020 | 02/02: Is Bruce Pearl still not getting the respect he should? In the Big East, history made. In the AAC, big tears and a big bite. | 01:15:00
Auburn beat Kentucky, boosting its credentials in the process. The ep opens with a litany of thoughts on those Tigers and Cats, and Bruce Pearl, and then moves along to the Big East (21:00) having three ranked teams lost at home to unranked teams on the same day for the first time ever. The guys mix in a good Trivia Time (shouts to Kyle Boone) at 35:00, then move along to much discussion regarding the Big Ten's stacked weekend (38:30). The podcast wraps with must-hear audio after Tulsa gave us the most heartwarming moment of the weekend (48:30), plus we had a player bite another player -- leading Parrish to question Norlander about his biting tendencies. 10 Feb 2020 | 02/09: The Dean Dome Double Buzzer-Beater; Bob Knight returns to Indiana; takeaways from Saturday's bracket reveal | 01:23:11
Duke's 98-96 overtime win at North Carolina on Saturday night was one of the wildest conclusions to one of the most memorable games of this season and obviously in the 100-year history of that rivalry. We can start nowhere but there -- but hey, we hope you love that intro Norlander put together. After a lot of Duke-UNC talk, Parrish and Norlander get to Bob Knight's ballyhooed return to Indiana (29:30) and then discuss two of the four best teams in the sport (48:00), San Diego State and Gonzaga, throttling yet again. The pod closes out with thoughts on the top 16 reveal from Saturday on CBS (59:00).

17 Feb 2020 | 02/16: The Maryland Terrapins have their best team since winning the 2001-02 national championship | 01:08:45
We are less than four weeks away from Selection Sunday. It’s going to be here before you know it, so this episode looks both at where we are now and where things could stand in a month. Parrish and Norlander open with an extended discussion on Maryland, Michigan State, the Big Ten and Anthony Cowan being a former D-III recruit. From there, well, why does it seem like Baylor (24:15) is still not being discussed as a national title frontrunner? The Bears destroyed another ranked team over the weekend. And then the guys pick out teams with the most interesting and unpredictable bubble resumes (41:00) and forthcoming schedules. There are no shortage of candidates. The episode wraps with a couple of podcast reviews (53:30), including a negative. WHAT?!

24 Feb 2020 | 02/23: Kansas beats Baylor, becomes universal No. 1; Baylor, Gonzaga, San Diego State, Maryland all have huge streaks snapped | 01:11:00
No. 3 Kansas will become No. 1 Kansas when the polls update Monday. Norlander, back from Waco, recaps the scene and details with Parrish the good from a huge matchup just about matching the hype. The guys have plenty to discuss after that weekend, though, so BYU, Gonzaga and Maryland (29:20) all get some run before it’s time to discuss San Diego State (44:45) having its undefeated season end … OR DID IT? There has to be some bubble talk as well, so shouts to Indiana, Providence, Memphis, Cincinnati and UCLA (57:00) for grabbing significant wins. And if you found yourself laughing during the intro — and we suspect you did — if you haven’t already, do rate and review the pod ASAP. Five stars and nice comments!

The Nittany Lions are 19-5, second in the Big Ten and on track for a No. 4 seed. Yes, the pod opens with Pat Chambers' guys after their seventh straight win came Tuesday night. There is some Big Ten chatter and NCAA Tournament forecasting mixed in (10:00) before an examination of the top freshmen in college hoops (20:00) and how that lack of talent corresponds to many teams slipping or underachieving this season. 19 Feb 2020 | 02/19: John Beilein and Cavaliers' breakup has college basketball's coaching carousel ready start spinning; Creighton a Final Four dark horse | 00:48:11
John Beilein has parted ways with the Cleveland Cavaliers, according to a report late Tuesday night from ESPN. Obviously Beilein becomes the No. 1 coaching target in college, but what are the chances he wants to return to choops? Gary Parrish and Matt Norlander open with their theories on that, then get to some of the biggest items from Tuesday night: Creighton beating Marquette (21:00), Baylor setting a Big 12 record (29:00) along with some talk of Kansas, and some quick love to Dayton and Maryland. The guys wrap with the listener mailbag (33:00), which includes questions about NC State, UNC and college hoops TV scheduling.

26 Feb 2020 | 02/26: Duke's chances at a No. 1 seed are (likely) done; the story behind the Big Ten becoming the best league in college hoops | 01:01:56
Duke has now taken losses to at least three teams, and maybe four, that will not make the NCAA Tournament. Tuesday night's L to Wake Forest probably eliminated the Blue Devils' chances at 1 seeds in back-to-back years. The pod opens on that, and Wake, and then gets to Norlander's story and reporting on how the Big Ten (20:00) went from just-OK to the best conference in college hoops. It's in an interesting inside look on the change to 20-game schedules. From there, Pac-12 (35:00) chatter. Specifically, Arizona State-UCLA becoming one of the biggest games of the week, an recognition of the best player in college basketball, Oregon's Sabrina Ionescu. The pod wraps with the listener mailbag (49:30), leading with which senior will become the best NBA player.

28 Feb 2020 | 02/28: UCLA beats Arizona State, USC beats Arizona, which means .... five-bid Pac-12? | 01:02:29
UCLA’s last-second win vs. Arizona State was a great thing that capped off a good night for the Pac-12. You bet the weekend-preview pod starts with some West Coast love. The guys touch on the Bruins, Mick Cronin quickly catching up to John Wooden and USC getting past Arizona before moving on to Big Ten (20:40), which includes Maryland’s come-from-behind win at Minnesota that led to Mark Turgeon taking issue with a late tip time, and sparking a rivalry between Turgeon and … Chris Holtmann?! Then it’s on to Wisconsin (32:20), which has a shot at the No. 2 seed in the Big Ten tourney and has been a top-10 team in the past month. The weekend picks start around the 41-minute mark and include some unexpected player-arena names. Enjoy; this is the last podcast before March arrives!

Matt Norlander is in Waco for No. 3 Kansas at No. 1 Baylor. The Friday preview pod opens with GP and Norlander looking at Duke’s chances of still getting a No. 1 seed despite losing at NC State — with some NC State thoughts too! — before moving on to give a hearty, reported-out preview of KU-Baylor (21:30). The guys close with a long look ahead to the weekend (39:00) by making their picks for the Final Four + 1. Did you realize you have to win at least six games to win the NCAA Tournament?

14 Feb 2020 | 02/14: In which Norlander and Parrish tear down the storyline that college basketball lacks great teams this season | 01:00:44
A lovely Friday podcast for you starts with a little Valentine’s talk from Gary Parrish and Matt Norlander, and then a deeper dive into the top of college basketball. No great teams this season? We could easily find out that's not the case. Check the stats. Then it's time to talk: BYU! (23:10). The Cougars have been cruising as a top-20 KenPom team -- might they beat Gonzaga next week? Our usual Final Four + 1 (40:30) picks three Saturday and two Sunday games, and there's a viewer's guide to five big bubble games for Saturday.

07 Feb 2020 | 02/07: Why John Calipari and Gary Parrish are both connected to job openings with the New York Knicks | 00:56:31
The New York Knicks hiring two men closely associated with John Calipari has inevitably brought back discussion over whether this means Cal could really -- for real this time -- leave Kentucky for the NBA. But the question most aren't asking is: what about Gary Parrish to the Knicks? The latest information is addressed at the top of the pod, then the guys get to Zavier Simpson's car troubles (17:00) and preview the weekend (33:30) by picking these games: LSU-Auburn; SHU-Nova; Duke-Carolina; Gonzaga-SMC; and Butler-Marquette.

02 Mar 2020 | 03/01: The greatest month ever invented is officially back. HELLO, MARCH! | 01:19:31
More than 10 ranked teams fell over the weekend, including Maryland’s first home loss of the season, which came to Michigan State. Since Norlander as on the scene, he and Parrish open on that and have a hefty discussion on the teams before moving on to Kentucky (26:30) beating Auburn, UCLA (36:30) continuing one of the most unpredictable in-season turnarounds ever and all those top-10 teams losing (49:30), led by Duke, which is somehow still refusing to fall in multiple metrics. There’s a lot more sprinkled into one of the longest podcasts of the season. A lot happened, and of course, check the calendar.
It’s here.
It’s back.

08 Mar 2020 | 03/08: Everything — and we mean everything — you need to know from Saturday, which was the best day of the season so far in college basketball | 01:22:01
College basketball's final Saturday of the regular season was led with the first two of what will be 68 teams into the NCAA Tournament. Congrats to Utah State and Belmont for officially earning their way in. This special Sunday morning podcast touches on 20-plus games/results on a loaded Saturday, the first 45 minutes of which involve Gary Parrish and Matt Norlander zipping around the country and giving their thoughts on the biggest wins, worst losses, seed shifts, bubble movement. If the game was interesting or meant something, it's mentioned in the first 45 minutes. After that, the guys talk No. 1 seeds (48:45) and close up with a discussion on Archie Miller (59:30) putting on a rant against bracketologists, which was misguided and ripe for criticism, but did have at least one positive takeaway.

13 Mar 2020 | 03/12: March 12, 2020 will forever be remembered as the day the NCAA Tournament died | 01:38:35
Thursday, March 12, 2020. A day that will live in college sports infamy due to the necessary/unprecedented action of canceling not only the Divions I men’s basketball tournament, but all NCAA-sanctioned events for the remainder of the academic year. Sports as we know it are on hiatus for at least a month. It is an odd time. There is so much to discuss. And suddenly this is the season-ending episode of the Eye on pod. Gary Parrish and Matt Norlander spend the first 80% of this episode discussing the dozens of takeaways from what’s happened in college basketball in the past 48 hours, but also giving shoutout after shoutout to so many of the great stories, players and angles to this season — and how they were all vaporized on Thursday. The final part of the podcast we will keep a surprise. For those who wish there were games, still brackets to fill out, still March to get mad over, we think you’ll enjoy a little fun and alternate-universe exploring.

19 Mar 2020 | 03/19: Kansas should not be recognized in any way as the 2020 national champion; this isn't college football | 00:54:46
Yes, we're dreaming of what could be, just like you. This was supposed to be one of the best days of the year: the start of the first round of the tournament. The noon tips, dinnertime buzz and late-night almost- or sure-fire upsets. Alas. But the Eye on Pod is here for you. This episode opens with some quarantine updates -- and tourney thoughts -- before getting to the matter of why Kansas can't and won't be labeled as the 2020 champs (13:35). Gary Parrish and Matt Norlander also float back into the Luka Garza vs. Obi Toppin NPOY discussion, with some Trivia Time! thrown in. There's also a mailbag (34:50) to get to, which includes Norlander explaining why he'd love to see. nothing but old tournament games on TV as often as possible this weekend -- and next.

01 Apr 2020 | 03/31: Are Will Wade and Sean Miller's jobs in any more jeopardy after the leaked wiretaps were played on HBO's documentary? | 01:07:42
On Tuesday, the anticipated HBO documentary "The Scheme" premiered. It included wiretaps of Arizona coach Sean Miller and LSU coach Will Wade discussing pay-for-play schemes with former runner, and convicted felon, Christian Dawkins. There are many other aspects to the documentary that were interesting as well. This podcast is primarily dedicated to reacting to what the documentary provides, where it succeeds and where it fails, and how coaches have been reacting privately to it.

25 Mar 2020 | 03/24: Coronavirus ain't stopping us: Here are the top 25 (and one) teams in college basketball heading into next season | 01:14:13
Did ya miss us? Don’t worry, we’ve got another beefed-up pod to help you get through your days as we all continue to adjust to life in this historic time. This ep opens with some anecdotal personal touches from Gary Parrish and Matt Norlander, then a few quick headlines on what’s going on in the sport (11:30) before a complete dissection of Parrish’s first offseason edition of the Top 25 + 1 (15:50). Who’s in the top 10? Norlander makes his guesses and gets eight out of 10 correct. After that, the guys take a walk down memory lane and share some of their favorite memories from past NCAA Tournament (46:00), including games they covered, or what they remember about watching from home or, in GP’s case, strangely not remembering weeklong stretches of his life.

11 Mar 2020 | 03/11: It's time to seriously talk about how big of a threat the coronavirus is to the NCAA Tournament | 01:20:50
Will the coronavirus, and concerns surrounding the widespread disease, cause more conference tournaments to ban fans -- and are we headed for the NCAA Tournament without paying customers in the stands? Parrish and Norlander explain why they believe the answer to that question is yes. This episode begins with a lengthy discussion on the questions, frustrations, need-to-knows and still-to-knows about the biggest story in the world and how it's impacting college basketball. From there, the guys give love to the small schools who've received auto bids (39:00) and Norlander details his powerful story on Vermont's Anthony Lamb (55:00), who has battled depression and suicidal thoughts on his way to becoming maybe the best player in UVM history. The guys close with an enjoyable mailbag segment (68:00). Shouts to Charles Jenkins!

04 Mar 2020 | 03/04: Kentucky blows it, Michigan State comes together, Maryland comes apart, and two amazing stories: UVM's Josh Speidel and Jackson State's "Snacks" Lee | 01:17:08
It's a special loaded hump day edition of the pod. Tuesday night brought a litany of interesting stories, big results and major talking points. The ep leads with Kentucky folding shockingly against Tennessee, then delves into all things Big Ten (11:15), including Rutgers' ever-intriguing NCAA Tournament case after it beat Maryland. The Terps are in a four-way tie in the loss column atop the league, now sharing space with Michigan State (24:30) and Norlander has a scoop on a meeting between Tom Izzo and Cassius Winston that may change Sparty's season. Earlier this week, Coach k (38:15) made headlines again because of some postgame comments. And there are the two wonderful stories that bookended Tuesday (49:20): the rotund Jackson State manager who cashed a 3 and won SWAC Player of the Week, and Vermont's Josh Spiedel, who played his first minutes of his college career on senior night and scored Vermont's first points. Incredible stuff, and the pod covers all that and plenty more, because there's also the weekly listener mailbag to wrap this ep.

The guys weigh the pros and cons and share whether they agree with the call. Then, there are awards to announce. First: Player, Freshman and Coach of the Year (38:00). This is your moment, Dayton. We're now in a time that features a second-year coach of a WCC program beating out the likes of John Calipari and Chris Beard for the most coveted transfer on the market. Your Thursday Eye on College Basketball Podcast opens with Matt Haarms choosing BYU, then the guys get into Norlander's ranking of the 12 most impressive first-year coaches (10:15) from the 2019-20 season. This is a BYU kind of episode: Cougars coach Mark Pope is No. 1, but Parrish has huge issues with the coach at No. 6. The pod closes with thoughts on whether Gonzaga can retain Filip Petrusev and/or Corey Kispert in advance of Sunday's draft declaration deadline. And to end the episode, a special thanks and sincere shoutout to a specific faction of our listenership, who we need to address directly and with profound gratitude.

29 Apr 2020 | 04/29: NCAA rubber-stamps that college players will be allowed to make money off their name, image and likeness beginning in 2021 -- but here's the catch | 01:04:28
Wednesday was a historic day in NCAA history. The organization, through the power of its Board of Governors, announced that name, image and likeness legislation has been approved, with the vote going into action come January of 2021. There are obviously issues and criticisms, two of which stab at the heart of all of this, so Gary Parrish and Matt Norlander make it much clearer in the first 30 minutes just how much still needs to be done and where the NCAA is going to find itself in some trouble. There's some basketball to discuss as well. After Sunday's NBA Draft decision deadline (34:20), Norlander lists the eight biggest stay-or-go decisions that remain, plus five other really good players in the draft pool he thinks will inevitably return to college basketball. The podcast definitely loses the plot around the 52-minute mark, so you've got that to look forward to as well.

05 May 2020 | 05/04: Next up in the NCAA's notice of allegations assembly line: The Louisville Cardinals | 00:57:45
Monday brought yet another big headline for college basketball. It's the offseason, coronavirus is still very much a threat to the United States, but the news cycle in college hoops will now slow. Louisville announced it had received its notice of allegations from the NCAA. There is one Level I allegation and a few more Level II charges, including a notable one against former coach Rick Pitino. This episode gets into the news and provides a bit more clarity on what's to come for Louisville and why this case is different from every other one under the broader umbrella of NCAA infractions cases tied to the Department of Justice's probe into college hoops recruiting.

13 May 2020 | 05/13: The Zion Williamson story that have plenty of Duke haters hoping the NCAA will somehow manage to punish Coach K's program | 01:19:40
College basketball's had some interesting headlines the past few days, huh? A pandemic isn't slowing talking points or salaciousness in this sport, no way. Today's ep opens up with some quarantine catchup, which then segues into Gary Parrish and Matt Norlander discussing a question Parrish asked this week: if professors aged 60-and-up are being advised to not return for in-person teaching on campuses in the fall, then where does that leave the many college coaches of that age? From there, the guys get into the buzzed-about situation with Zion Williamson's (38:15) former marketing agent, who is countersuing against Williamson and agency CAA, and with that, there have been some leading questions -- but not allegations -- in what could eventually bring about depositions. The guys blend this topic with Kansas (58:00) and its battle with the NCAA, then somehow get into a bizarre basketball colloquialism of GP's.

21 May 2020 | 05/21: Finally, some good news tied to sports and coronavirus: College players given the OK to return to campus for workouts starting June 1 | 01:04:31
We have encouraging news to pass along: many college basketball and college football players will be permitted to return to campus for social distance-aware workouts starting in early June. But first: the pod opens with the most urgent news of all. Both Gach is in the transfer portal. Then Parrish and Norlander get to discussing the first significant step in trying to get college sports on schedule (8:15), followed by a chat on the NCAA kicking the transfer-rule can into 2021 (30:15) and wrapping with some discussion on a top-10 team losing a player to the NBA process (44:00) and a tantalizing Trivia Time!

28 May 2020 | 05/27: Mac McClung picks Texas Tech, but will he be eligible? Plus: Pissed off Bobby Hurley, and remembering Eddie Sutton's HOF career | 01:15:18
How about this: we’ve got a six-topic college hoops pod for you in late May in the middle of a pandemic. And it’s 70-plus minutes at that. Dive in. The pod opens with GP and Norlander discussing Mac McClung’s commitment to Texas Tech and offer up their thoughts on if he’ll be eligible next season or will sit until 2021. Then the guys touch on Patrick Ewing and Georgetown for a moment before getting into a transfer waiver that was approved: Johnny Juzang will be immediately eligible at UCLA (16:40). His situation sheds light on why a few players might win on these decisions this offseason. From there, a discussion about Bobby Hurley (26:00) standing up for his wife and going after his athletic director. We want to alert our listeners that the Hurley portion of the podcast includes the topic of sexual assault, and the discussion and descriptions therein could be sensitive for some. From there, a recognition of the life and Hall of Fame career of Eddie Sutton (37:10), the late news Wednesday on no July recruiting (52:00) and more binge-watching TV musings from the guys (66:00).

04 Jun 2020 | 06/04: How the killing of George Floyd and the Black Lives Matter protests have created a positive stir for change in college basketball | 00:50:58
A tragedy in Minneapolis -- the murder of George Floyd by a white police officer -- has catalyzed and sparked worldwide protest efforts to weed out systemic racism. College basketball and its leaders can be agents for true, overdue change in this country. Today's podcast focuses on the conversations Gary Parrish and Matt Norlander have had with coaches and players in college basketball this week. They touch on first-hand accounts from black coaches and the systemic racism they've encountered at the hands of law enforcement in the past. Parrish wrote this week about Rhode Island coach David Cox. In New Mexico, a team came together to protest peacefully. Norlander at one point references this story, first published at CBS Sports in 2016, where coaches shared their stories of encounters with law enforcement. There is also a movement afoot, sparked by Georgia Tech assistant Eric Reveno (31:00), who tweeted earlier this week that the NCAA should make November's Election Day a mandatory day off for all of college athletics in order to afford players and coaches alike the opportunity and time to vote

22 Jun 2020 | 06/24: Cade Cunningham sticking with Oklahoma State is an abnormally loyal player decision that deserves huge praise | 01:13:19
Big-time college hoops news got the week going on Monday. No. 1-rated 2020 recruit Cade Cunningham announced he will stay at Oklahoma State for next season, despite the 2021 postseason ban the NCAA handed the school. Gary Parrish and Matt Norlander open the podcast with perspective and reaction, then get into the Big East's 21 minority assistants coming together to rally for social justice (24:00), led by their goal to get Black Lives Matter patches on uniforms for all of next season. And what about Luka Garza (41:00)? Parrish caught up with him last week. Norlander poses a question: has college basketball ever had a player facing the scenario Garza is right now? Listen in to understand -- then stick around at the end for another Trivia Time! and a 90-degree day.

11 Jun 2020 | 06/11: Zion Williamson’s ex-agent is hell-bent on trying to expose Zion, Nike and Duke | 01:13:39
If you thought the countersuit against Zion Williamson would fade away, you'd be wrong. This week, attorneys representing Gina Ford, Williamson's ex-agent, filed a new suit for consideration and cited text-message evidence and allegations regarding a wealthy home, and multiple luxury vehicles, both tied to the Williamson family during his time at Duke. Gary Parrish and Matt Norlander spend the first half this podcast discussing the matter. Then they turn to Norlander's story from this week about new head coaches adjusting to the job during pandemic (33:00) and move on to top-rated prospect Jonathan Kuminga (52:00), who is expected to announce next week a reclassification to the class of 2020, plus the implied likelihood he heads for the G League. Also, just a brutal Trivia Time! showing by Norlander wraps the pod.

29 Jun 2020 | 06/29: Emoni Bates—WAY ahead of schedule—announces his intention to play for Michigan State. And we think he will. | 00:58:50
For the second straight Monday, a No. 1-rated basketball recruit has proven skeptics wrong and announced a commitment to playing college basketball over more lucrative alternatives. On Monday, Emoni Bates made his choice to play for Michigan State, if and when he's eligible to do so. Bates is in the class of 2022 and has made no clear intention of reclassifying to 2021. Bates, 16, regarded as one of the two or three best prospects this century. Will he wind up playing for Tom Izzo? Norlander and Parrish both say yes and present the evidence and indications as to why. The second half of the pod is dedicated to the Big East and UConn (28:00), a reunion which will become official on Wednesday. With UConn going to the Big East, the guys power-rank every program, 1 through 11, and project the hierarchy of the league over the next five seasons.

09 Jul 2020 | What Ivy League's fall-sports cancellation means to college basketball; Makur Maker picks Howard (College Basketball 07/09)) | 00:55:45
On Wednesday, the Ivy League made significant news in college sports when it announced all organized sports within the league would not be permitted through the end of the fall semester. Gary Parrish and Matt Norlander open with thoughts on basketball -- and football -- and how these issues are interconnected and why college hoops' season is already impacted. The guys also discuss Makur Maker's commitment to Howard (29:40). Will he even get to play for the Bison? Will others follow? And the podcast wraps with the story of Rasir Bolton and Pat Chambers (44:00). The former PSU player went public this week, prompting Chambers to issue a formal statement and apologize.

16 Jul 2020 | Two big commitments Wednesday: Moussa Cisse is going to Memphis and Jonathan Kuminga is going to the G League (College Basketball 07/15) | 01:02:21
Penny Hardaway and Memphis got a commitment Wednesday from 2020 five-star center Moussa Cisse. Surely nothing will go wrong in the next few months, right? Gary Parrish and Matt Norlander give you the particulars of what to know about the situation surrounding Cisse, and then they get to Jonathan Kuminga's Thursday evening announcement (22:30) that he will be playing in the G League pathway program. That makes for five players who have said no to college and yes to the G League. And then a most interesting discussion on one coach's idea to play a shortened 2020-21 season (30:30) and potential one-year configurations for the 2021 NCAA Tournament.

21 Jul 2020 | Gonzaga lost its best player Monday. Here's why Mark Few's program can now be compared to Duke and Kentucky (college basketball 07/20) | 00:35:51
Rather significant headline popped Monday: Gonzaga’s best player bolted on the team and didn’t tell them in advance. Filip Petrusev would’ve been a First Team A-A pick in the preseason had he opted to return, but that’s not the case. Parrish and Norlander react to the news and differ on where they’d slot the Zags heading into the fall. Some behind-the-scenes intel is shared as well, plus a preview of Gonzaga for next season on the whole. There’s more news: Baylor has the No. 1-rated class for 2021 at the moment (22:30). Scott Drew is ushering in what looks to be the golden age of Baylor hoops, and that’s saying something. Remember, there were the Terry Teagle years! Stick around until the end: Norlander’s got some coach/school name marriages to consider.

31 Jul 2020 | MaCio Teague returning to Baylor: Are the Bears the Big 12/national preseason favorites? (College Basketball 7/31) | 00:48:03
The NCAA’s deadline to withdraw from the 2020 NBA Draft isn’t until next week — but Baylor’s MaCio Teague went ahead and made a decision (1:20). He’ll be back at Baylor. And now, provided Jared Butler also withdraws from the draft, Scott Drew’s Bears look like they’ll be the preseason favorite in the Big 12. So Gary Parrish and Kyle Boone opened this episode of the Eye On College Basketball podcast by discussing Baylor (and the Big 12 in general) before reacting to news that conferences are largely turning toward league-only football schedules (18:30). What, if anything, does that mean for college basketball? And is it even possible to play college football and college basketball outside of a bubble given that Major League Baseball is hitting one bump after another? It’s a fair question to ask.

08 Apr 2020 | 04/08: The greatest games in NCAA Tournament history; the biggest draft and transfer decisions in the past week in college basketball | 00:54:38
On Monday, CBSSports.com published Norlander's exhaustive look at the 101 best NCAA Tournament games since 1985, when the bracket expanded to 64 teams. This episode -- after some latest life updates to start -- gets into how the list was made, some favorite games, and some memories from GP. Hey, the season would have ended Monday night, so consider this your once-and-for-all bow on 2019-20. From there, the guys talk about Scottie Lewis' somewhat-surprising decision (30:30) to return to Florida -- a good thing -- and touch on three other big transactional decisions in the past few days in college hoops: Matt Haarms surprising exodus from Purdue, 20-point-scorer Carlik Jones committing to Louisville (36:00), and Cassius Stanley saying see-ya to Duke. The pod ends with some emerging curiosities on what "testing the waters" even means this year, and why college basketball could benefit from an NBA problem.

11 Aug 2020 | The Pac-12 cancels all basketball games until January. Are all other conferences destined to soon make the same decision? | 01:05:59
What was mostly expected Tuesday: the Big Ten and Pac-12 announcing they were pushing football to the spring. What wasn't? The Pac-12 also announcing it will not have any sports of any kind played before January. So 12 Pac-12 men's basketball programs just had more than 100 nonconference games taken out from underneath them. Truth is, the rest of the sport is probably going to follow suit, but those decisions aren't expected until September. Gary Parrish and Matt Norlander open this pod by discussing the Pac-12, and then they get to speculating and building out what college basketball and the NCAA needs to do in order to best ensure college hoops doesn't end up like college football (21:50). Parrish reveals his template for holding college basketball's regular season and NCAA Tournament in 2021, while Norlander reveals some of his details on a 2021 NCAA Tournament that would be hosted and played in one state and mostly one city: Indianapolis.

18 Aug 2020 | Gonzaga and Baylor agree to huge game for upcoming season; NCAA officially embracing playing college basketball in bubbles | 00:49:22
If Gonzaga and Baylor can maneuver on a dime and schedule each other for next season, then of course there's real optimism college basketball can pull off a regular season for 2020-21. This episode leads with Norlander's scoop on Few and Drew's coup, and gets into a lot of the scenarios and scuttlebutt Parrish and Norlander have heard from coaches in the past week. We also got news as of late: the NCAA is officially embracing using bubbles and we know college basketball will have a definitive word on its schedule start time and details by mid-September.

26 Aug 2020 | Jay Wright leaving Villanova doesn't seem likely; when college basketball's season should start; welcome back, Marshall Henderson! | 00:59:17
The podcast is thankful that despite what's going to be the longest offseason in college basketball history, there are indeed headlines that surface weekly that provide us with fodder for the pod. Today's ep opens with a discussion on scuttlebutt about Jay Wright and the potential he'd leave Villanova for the 76ers job. Then the guys get to Norlander's scoop earlier in the week that detailed the four potential season-start dates (26:30) the NCAA and its power brokers are deliberating this week and next. Stick around for Norlander's suggestion on how the season should start and Parrish's point about Christmas break. The ep wraps by welcoming back Ole Miss legend Marshall Henderson (47:00) who was announced Tuesday night as a graduate manager for the program. This could be fun!

31 Aug 2020 | Remembering the lives and Hall of Fame careers of two coaching legends: John Thompson and Lute Olson | 01:10:39
College basketball has lost two of its greatest coaches ever in the span of only four days. This episode honors their memories and gets into some personal storytelling, too. Gary Parrish and Matt Norlander open with a long discussion about the late John Thompson Jr., Georgetown's greatest, who you can make a case for as the most important coach in college basketball history. And after the Thompson talk, the guys discuss Lute Olson (42:30), who is the most important basketball figure in the history of Arizona -- and the second-best coach in the Pac-8/Pac-10/Pac-12 to John Wooden. The tail end of the podcast touches on a bit of relevant news (1:02:00) on college basketball's start date and the NCAA trademarking "Battle in the Bubble."

17 Sep 2020 | The NCAA decides Nov. 25 will be the start date for college basketball's season; here's how we got here | 00:51:23
On Wednesday, the NCAA's Division I Council approved a Nov. 25 start date. That's a good thing ... with some drawbacks. Good to have a date, bad for MTE events like the Maui Invitation which will now have to move around that date and create schedule chaos as a result. But there's a lot of positivity to get to! Gary Parrish and Matt Norlander have everything you need to know about this -- plus a look at the historic vote that came to be on Wednesday as well.

25 Sep 2020 | The Pac-12 gets cleared to play ASAP; will Louisville and Kentucky be able to figure out a way to play each other in 2020? | 01:02:50
Welcome back, Pac-12. On Thursday, the presidents and chancellors in the conference voted to allow hoops to return on the proper timetable so that all the teams will be playing with the rest of college basketball (save the Ivy League) when the season starts. The pod opens up with a discussion on that, then Gary Parrish and Matt Norlander split open some of the deeper issues with nonconference scheduling and why Thursday’s Pac-12 vote plays a big factor. The guys also discuss the expected reveal on Friday of initial COVID-19 guidelines (21:00) for basketball, which also will have a significant impact on what games we will or won’t get in November and December. The final third of the pod focuses on Kentucky (36:00) and its alumni just going off in the NBA bubble. Plus: Chris Mack can’t yet confirm Louisville will play, or host, Kentucky this year. Will arguably the best rivalry in college hoops go on a one-year hiatus?

02 Oct 2020 | Chris Mack going at John Calipari is absolutely amazing; Gonzaga-Baylor announced; Norlander reveals Big 12 December schedule in full | 01:06:05
We are thrilled to share a lively episode -- including a scoop on the Big 12. Gary Parrish and Matt Norlander open with audio of Louisville coach Chris Mack airing the dirty laundry with Kentucky coach John Calipari. An elongated, appreciative breakdown of Mack’s two-minute Twitter exposé that was a top-three highlight of the offseason. Stories aplenty, too. Beyond a beefy first segment, the guys discuss the existential issue threatening college basketball’s season: testing inconsistency and quarantine mandates (32:30), which are even affecting the NFL right now. The podcast closes (51:00) with some great news from Thursday: Gonzaga vs. Baylor on CBS in December. Details on that, and then Norlander unveils the entirety of the Big 12 league schedule in December, which has not been officially released yet but was agreed to by the league earlier this week. A number of top-25 matchups await between Dec. 6 and Dec. 22. Come on in and enjoy.

09 Oct 2020 | College basketball keeps adding huge November and December games; John Calipari responds to Chris Mack; Bob Huggins update | 00:38:38

We've got it for you, and not only that, but let's look around and see how many top 25-level games are already in the works for the first two weeks of the season. Plus: GP and Norlander discuss John Calipari's weaker-than-wanted attempt at clapping back at Chris Mack, though there is a huge positive from it. The pod's got randomness as well: spanning the globe and checking in with our listeners in Chile, Sweden, Australia. You know, the usual spots. And we have a Bob Huggins update!

15 Oct 2020 | NCAA does the right thing; Gregg Marshall denies assaulting his players; latest with Kentucky getting Olivier Sarr eligible (college basketball 10/15) | 00:54:57
The NCAA's Division I Council voted on multiple significant items on Wednesday, and two of them we get into on this podcast: 1) all winter-sport athletes get an extra year of eligibility no matter what, which clearly will have a big impact on college basketball. No. 2) When the vote is passed in January, every NCAA scholarship athlete will be able to transfer without having to sit a season the FIRST time they opt to do so. So those two topics, in addition to how Olivier Sarr's situation at Kentucky fits into all this. The podcast wraps with the latest on Gregg Marshall, who on Wednesday denied every physically assaulting anyone with his program. It's a denial Parrish and Norlander did not anticipate, and certainly not six days after the allegations surfaced.

21 Jun 2021 | The Supreme Court rules 9-0 against the NCAA in one of the most significant college cases ever (College Basketball 06/21) | 00:41:19
Gary Parrish and Matt Norlander offer their insights and opinions on what Monday's huge news means. The Supreme Court returned its opinion on the NCAA v. Alston case, ruling 9-0 in favor of Alston, which equates to a win for college athletes everywhere. While the case did not tie to paying players, the Court did send a message to the NCAA that its current definition of amateurism falls outside of antitrust laws. It's a huge day for the future of collegiate athletics.

08 Jan 2021 | Illinois' Hulk-like second-half destruction of Northwestern; 13-0 Drake; weekend picks and preview (College Basketball 01/08) | 01:00:28
What Illinois pulled off Thursday night against Northwestern was among the most unlikely second-half performances in college hoops history. We start there, then get to the other Big Ten scores from Thursday (11:00), in addition to general talk on the league and how a few teams are facing urgent games this weekend. This week, Norlander wrote up a story on 13-0 Drake (you can read it here), and that discussion starts about at the 19-minute mark. There’s a completely ridiculous tangent about an extinct animal embedded in the segment, but eventually the guys make their way to the Final Four + 1 (35:00), picking five games along with Norlander’s tour around the weekend of the other matchups to keep an eye on.

26 Aug 2020 | 🚨Will Wade has been accused by the NCAA of offering at least 11 players impermissible benefits to play at LSU | 00:20:03
Two podcasts in one day? In August?
We're here for you.
This is a quickie emergency pod that addresses serious news that emerged late Wednesday morning: Will Wade, according to NCAA findings, has made at least 11 offers to players and/or former LSU prospects that included impermissible benefits. This information comes via an ESPN.com report, which cited documents obtained by the NCAA. This emergency pod not only lays out those details but also explains a potential timeline and discusses whether or not Wade is going to remain LSU's coach in the short-term -- because the long-term looks grim.

02 Dec 2020 | Champions Classic reactions on Kentucky, Duke, Michigan State and Kansas; why Bubbleville has been a success (College Basketball 12/2) | 01:02:02
Tuesday night's Champions Classic saw Michigan State win at Duke and Kansas win an ugly game over Kentucky. The pod opens with MSU-Duke chatter before transitioning to UK-KU (10:00). With Norlander back from Bubbleville, he shares some initial impressions on potential No. 1 2021 pick Evan Mobley (22:30), who played for USC on Tuesday in a huge win over BYU in Bubbleville. Norlander also gives a rundown on the success of Bubbleville so far and why it can work. (As promised, here's the piece, if you'd like to read it.) From there, the pod goes in a bunch of weird directions which we think you'll enjoy. Anyone remembers pogs?

05 Jul 2021 | NBA Draft profiles: Davion Mitchell was the star of Baylor's national title run. Is his NBA stock overvalued because of that? | 00:23:34
We hope you had a safe-but-lively Fourth of July weekend. Fear not, another draft-profile episode awaits you. This week's appetizer-portioned podcast on a prospect focuses on Davion Mitchell, last seen leading Baylor's men's team to its first national championship. He was the best defender in the sport last season. He could be an immediate role player of impact on a good team. But is his value overstated at this point? Stats and cases for, and against, therein.

29 Oct 2020 | CONFERENCE PREVIEW: The ACC has Virginia in the catbird seat, with Duke, North Carolina, Florida State and Louisville all giving chase (College Basketball 10/29) | 00:26:53
Virginia is our pick to be, clearly, the best team in the ACC. But who's the best player? Best freshman? How many tournament teams are going to come out of a league that had only four tournament locks last season? The ACC might be coasting on its reputation a bit, and maybe that becomes more exposed this season if UNC can't get back to top-25 status and if Duke winds up living outside the top 10 in the polls much more often than it does in most years. A scan of the conference inside, with predictions on 1 all the way to 14.

07 Aug 2020 | NBA Draft Profiles: Why Anthony Edwards is going to be the toughest yes-or-no decision for any team drafting in the top three | 00:25:41
The NBA Draft lottery is two weeks away. Whatever teams land in the No. 1, 2 and 3 spots of that lottery will heavily weigh selecting Georgia's Anthony Edwards. He's a lock to go in the top five. But his one-and-done season with the Dawgs was hit-or-miss. Is his floor lower than most are acknowledging? Are analysts doomed to refer to him in the next few months as a "poor man's James Harden"? Hopefully not. Our latest prospect profile episode is here.

01 Jul 2021 | NIL era officially arrives; Penny stays at Memphis; five big roster decisions this week (College Basketball 07/01) | 01:03:05
July 1, 2021, truly signals a watershed day for college athletes. Now every NCAA athlete can profit off their name, image and likeness, as the NCAA officially pushed through a temporary rule that enables all schools to determine (unless their state laws mandate otherwise) how student-athletes can legally make money while still in college. It's a huge day, and we've got a long conversation on that. The interesting, the funny, the fallout and more. That's the first 36 minutes of this podcast. Then Gary Parrish and Matt Norlander get to Penny Hardaway (38:00) staying at Memphis, despite recently interviewing for the Orlando Magic job, and hiring 80-year-old Larry Brown to his staff in the process. The guys close with some news and notes from this week on important players (51:00) staying or going with top 25-level programs.

13 Aug 2020 | NBA Draft Profiles: James Wiseman played three games in college. He's still in the mix to go No. 1. Is it justifiable? | 00:32:33
This week's prospect analysis looks at all of the off- and on-court attributes and setbacks that make James Wiseman a fascinating case. Wiseman is our fourth profile so far, and he's the final player with a realistic chance of being selected No. 1 overall in October. The biggest question we have: Will the fact he quit Memphis in December impact where he's selected two months from now?

21 Aug 2020 | NBA Draft Profiles: If Deni Avdija played college basketball last season, he would've almost certainly been a top-10 player | 00:27:10
The fifth discussion in our draft-profile series focuses for the first time on an international prospect. Deni Avdija is now being regarded as a better NBA pick than all but maybe three players who played college basketball last season. What to know, why he's intriguing, why his situation should never be compared to Luka Dončić. Parrish and Norlander did their homework, and we think you'll enjoy getting to know more about one of the biggest 2020 draft risers over the past six months.

Happy Labor Day weekend, listeners. Our latest profile pod focuses on a one-and-doner out of the Pac-12 who draws comparisons to Brandon Clarke and John Collins. Onyeka Okongwu could go as high as No. 4 and seems to be slotting well into that No. 6 and No. 7 range. If you missed out on most of USC's games last season, listen in to understand why he's set up well to be an immediate impact player on the defensive end.

09 Sep 2020 | ACC coaches are going to propose that every team in college basketball plays in the 2021 NCAA Tournament. Thanks: WE HATE IT. | 00:47:20
On Wednesday morning an outrageous headline came in: ACC coaches agreed on a conference call to propose to the NCAA an all-inclusive 2021 tournament. Everybody into the pool. Uh, what? Is this even possible? It's not practical. The pod leads with Parrish and Norlander picking this plan apart, then getting to Norlander's story from Tuesday that revealed how dozens of teams could be playing in a bubble in Connecticut in December. This ep wraps with a quick thought on Billy Donovan being on the coaching market and whether he'll make his way back to college hoops. What's the percentage on that right now?
