The consultation phase was conducted by Devon County Council (DCC) in autumn 2021 to explore options for making residential roads in the area safer and more pedestrian- and cyclist-friendly. The proposed changes are aimed at creating quieter and safer streets for residents.
The scheme is set to be considered for approval at a Devon County Council's Exeter’s Highways Committee (HATOC) meeting scheduled for June 20. If approved, the trial road closures would be implemented for a period of up to 18 months starting in August. The estimated cost of the trial scheme is up to £190,000, which would be funded from the Capability and Ambition Fund secured from Active Travel England.
The main concerns raised by residents appear to revolve around the perceived lack of consultation and communication about the potential changes, as well as the potential disruption to travel and daily routines that the trial road closures could bring. It's likely that the local authorities will need to address these concerns and provide more information to the residents before moving forward with the proposed trial scheme.
I was also lucky enough to meet @anneofexeter for a chat as well while she was filming for ITV Westcountry.
As it happens they were already on course to carry out the work anyway and is now in place. Everyone I spoke to were very un-happy about this.
This is a common theme across the country with Rishi Sunaks, Low Traffic Neighbourhood Scheme.

My Thoughts On The The Royal Enfield Meteors, 650 vs 350
00:11:06
In summary, the choice between the Royal Enfield 350 and 650 models depends on your preferences and priorities. If you're looking for a more laid-back and economical ride, the 350 might be a better fit. If you desire more power and performance for highway cruising and a more dynamic riding experience, the 650 could be the right choice.
It's personal preference, try both if you can.
This is my own personal summary.
Royal Enfield 350: - Engine: The Royal Enfield 350 typically features a single-cylinder, air-cooled engine with a displacement of around 346cc. This engine produces a moderate amount of power and torque suitable for city commuting and relaxed cruising. - Performance: The power output and torque of the 350cc engine are generally lower compared to the 650cc variant, making it suitable for riders who prioritize fuel efficiency and a more relaxed riding experience. - Style: Royal Enfield 350 models often feature a classic retro design with vintage-inspired styling elements. These motorcycles are known for their nostalgic aesthetics and simple lines. - Ride Characteristics: Due to its lower power output, the Royal Enfield 350 is generally considered more approachable for newer riders and those who prefer a comfortable, leisurely ride. - Price: The 350 models are usually more affordable than their 650 counterparts, making them a popular choice among riders looking for an economical option.
Royal Enfield 650: - Engine: The Royal Enfield 650 series, including models like the Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650, is equipped with a parallel-twin, air-cooled engine with a displacement of around 648cc. This engine offers significantly more power and torque compared to the 350cc engine. - Performance: The 650cc engine provides higher performance, making the Royal Enfield 650 suitable for riders who want a more spirited and dynamic riding experience. It can handle highway speeds and overtaking maneuvers more comfortably. - Style: The 650 models also carry a classic design, but they often come with more modern features and styling cues. The Continental GT 650, for instance, has a café racer-inspired design. - Ride Characteristics: The increased power and torque of the 650cc engine can result in a more engaging and powerful ride. It's a better choice for riders who enjoy spirited riding on highways and open roads. - Price: The 650 models are usually priced higher than the 350 models due to the larger engine and enhanced performance.

Parking Motorbikes / Taking The Freedom Away
00:08:15
Parking Motorbikes / Taking The Freedom Away
I have recently found out that free motorcycle parking in "residents parking" areas is now no more in the Devon County council area.
Is this the case in your area?
In some cities, including Exeter, residents' parking permits may also be available for motorcycles. These permits allow residents who own motorcycles to park their vehicles within designated parking zones without time restrictions or the need to pay for parking.
To obtain a residents' parking permit for your motorcycle in Exeter, you would typically need to follow a similar process as obtaining a permit for a car. Here are some general steps you may need to take:
Determine Eligibility: Check if the residents' parking permit scheme in your area includes provisions for motorcycles. Review the eligibility criteria to ensure you meet the requirements as a resident.
Gather Required Documentation: Prepare the necessary documents to support your application. This may include proof of residency, such as a utility bill or council tax statement, as well as your motorcycle registration documents.
Complete Application: Obtain the residents' parking permit application form from the Exeter City Council or the relevant parking authority. Fill out the form accurately, providing all required information.
Pay the Fee: There may be a fee associated with obtaining a residents' parking permit for your motorcycle. Check the current fee structure and make the payment as instructed. Fees can vary, so it's important to confirm the exact amount.
Submit the Application: Submit the completed application form, along with any required supporting documents and payment, to the Exeter City Council or the designated parking permit office. You may need to do this in person or through an online application system, depending on the available options.
Await Approval: The council or parking authority will review your application. Once approved, you will receive your residents' parking permit for your motorcycle. The permit may be in the form of a sticker or a physical permit that you need to affix to your motorcycle.

Explore On A Motorcycle & See What Or Who You Find!
Exploring on a motorcycle can be an exhilarating and adventurous experience. Whether you're riding through scenic countryside, exploring urban areas, or embarking on a long-distance journey, there are several important considerations and tips to keep in mind for a safe and enjoyable motorcycle exploration:
Safety Gear: Always wear appropriate safety gear, including a DOT-approved helmet, gloves, jacket, pants, and boots. Safety should be your top priority.
Maintenance: Regularly maintain your motorcycle to ensure it's in good working condition. Check tires, brakes, lights, and other critical components before each ride.
Plan Your Route: Plan your route in advance, and let someone know your itinerary, including your expected return time. Share your location with a trusted friend or family member if possible.
Maps and GPS: Carry maps or use GPS navigation to avoid getting lost. Plan your stops for fuel, food, and rest breaks.
Weather Check: Check the weather forecast before setting out, and be prepared for changing weather conditions. Rain gear and extra layers can come in handy.
Emergency Kit: Carry an emergency kit with tools, first aid supplies, and essential items. This can be a lifesaver in case of breakdowns or accidents.
Know Your Limits: Ride within your skill level. Don't push yourself to ride faster or more aggressively than you're comfortable with, especially on unfamiliar roads.
Stay Visible: Make sure your motorcycle is visible to other motorists. Use reflective gear and keep your headlights on, even during the day.
Rest and Hydration: Take regular breaks to rest, stretch, and stay hydrated. Long rides can be physically demanding, and fatigue can be dangerous.
Respect Local Laws: Obey traffic laws and speed limits. Be aware of local regulations, such as helmet laws, which can vary from place to place.
Ride Defensively: Assume that other drivers may not see you, and always be prepared for unexpected actions from other vehicles.
Group Riding: If riding in a group, establish communication signals and riding formations to ensure everyone's safety.
Scenic Stops: Take time to enjoy the scenery and explore interesting places along your route. Motorcycle exploration is not just about the destination but also the journey itself.
Fuel Management: Be mindful of your motorcycle's fuel range, especially in remote areas. Plan refueling stops accordingly.
Camping Gear: If you plan on camping during your exploration, pack the necessary camping gear, including a tent, sleeping bag, and cooking equipment.
Local Cuisine: Try local cuisine and explore the culture of the areas you visit. It adds a unique flavor to your motorcycle adventure.
Document Your Journey: Consider keeping a journal or taking photos to document your journey. It can be a great way to relive your experiences and share them with others.
Respect the Environment: Be a responsible traveler by leaving no trace and respecting the environment and local communities you encounter.
Remember that motorcycle exploration can be physically demanding and mentally taxing, so always prioritize safety and plan accordingly. With the right preparation and mindset, exploring on a motorcycle can be an incredibly rewarding and memorable experience.

Royal Enfield Meteor 650 Remastered Review
00:20:15
Royal Enfield has indeed launched a Meteor 650 version, it is an upgraded and more powerful variant of the Meteor 350, following Royal Enfield's naming conventions. Here's a speculative description of what the Royal Enfield Meteor 650 might entail:
*Design and Styling:* The Royal Enfield Meteor 650 retains the cruiser design aesthetics of the Meteor 350 but on a larger scale. It features a larger frame and body to accommodate the bigger engine. This engine could offer a smoother and more refined performance, suitable for both city commuting and highway cruising.
*Performance:* The increased engine capacity would likely result in improved acceleration and higher top speed compared to the Meteor 350.
*Technology:* Given the advancement of technology in the motorcycle industry, the Meteor 650 comes equipped with features such as LED lighting, a fully digital instrument cluster, riding modes.
*Suspension and Brakes:* To handle the increased power and performance, the Meteor 650 comes with upgraded suspension components and larger brakes. A telescopic front fork and twin shock absorbers at the rear would likely ensure a comfortable ride.
*Color Options and Customization:* The Meteor 650 could be offered in a range of color options to cater to different preferences. Additionally, Royal Enfield might offer customization options and accessories to allow riders to personalize their motorcycles.

Riding Hondas DCT Motorcycles, What is it All about & Why?
00:05:22
Honda's Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT) is a type of automated transmission system used in some of their motorcycles. Unlike traditional manual transmissions, which require the rider to manually engage and disengage the clutch and shift gears, DCT is a semi-automatic system that manages gear changes without the need for a clutch lever.
Here's a breakdown of how Honda's DCT works and some reasons why riders might choose it:
1. **Dual Clutch System:** - The DCT system has two clutches: one for odd gears (1st, 3rd, 5th) and another for even gears (2nd, 4th, 6th). This dual-clutch arrangement allows for smoother and faster gear changes.
2. **Automatic and Manual Modes:** - DCT-equipped motorcycles usually offer both automatic and manual modes. In automatic mode, the system takes care of shifting gears, making it easier for riders who may be new to motorcycles or prefer a more relaxed riding experience. - In manual mode, riders can still manually control gear changes using buttons or paddles on the handlebars.
3. **Seamless Gear Changes:** - The DCT system can pre-select the next gear, allowing for almost instantaneous gear changes without interrupting the power delivery to the rear wheel. This results in smoother acceleration and deceleration.
4. **Reduced Fatigue in Traffic:** - DCT is particularly popular among riders who commute in heavy traffic. Without the need to operate a clutch lever and shift gears constantly, riders experience reduced fatigue during stop-and-go traffic situations.
5. **Improved Fuel Efficiency:** - The DCT system can optimize gear selection for fuel efficiency, contributing to better mileage compared to some traditional manual transmissions.
6. **Adaptability to Rider Preferences:** - Riders can choose between different modes, such as sport or touring, to tailor the DCT's behavior to their preferences. For example, sport mode may prioritize quicker and more aggressive shifts, while touring mode may focus on smoother transitions.
7. **Appeal to a Broad Range of Riders:** - DCT appeals to a wide range of riders, including those who may be transitioning from automatic cars or those who simply prefer a more user-friendly riding experience.
While some riders appreciate the convenience and technology of DCT, others still prefer the traditional feel and engagement of a manual transmission. The choice between DCT and a manual transmission ultimately depends on individual preferences and riding styles.
