For many voice actors, the biggest deterrent keeping them from embracing social media for their voice over marketing efforts is content creation. How do I come up with ideas? What do I post about? Is all the effort to create content even worth it? Will it lead to actual paid voice over work?

All the major casting sites give you the opportunity to submit a proposal along with your audition. Though many of them may not get read, I do think there are ways to strategically use that space to increase your chances of getting short-listed (provided your actual audition is good).

My exit strategy was kind of simple... I got downsized from my day job. That kind of forced my hand as far as transitioning from full-time day job to full-time voice over job. However, not everybody needs to go about it in quite as extreme of fashion as I did! :)

When you're starting your voice over journey, there's a lot of information to process and a lot of very important decisions to make.

A blindspot is by it's very name, something you can't see. When you think about it in terms of driving a car, it's something that you can't see that's actually right beside you.

In our voice over businesses, we have blindspots. We have things we're too close to. Opportunities that are right in front of our faces, but unless someone on the outside points them out to us, we'll miss them.

In this episode I share a recent experience with one of my own blindspots and what I did to solve it. I hope you'll take inspiration from this to find some trusted people who will help you identify any blindspots you may have in your own business.

When I reached out to Sean Pratt, my goal was discuss audiobooks. A genre of voice over that I know nothing about and an entirely intimidated by. I expected to learn a few things, and uncover some helpful nuggets for podcast listeners who are in the space.

When it comes to marketing and voice over, there are a lot of fears, myths and negative narratives that exist among talent. I don't know if we want marketing to be hard, or if we just think marketing is hard. The reality is, it's can actually be kind of fun when you know what you're doing and why you're doing it.

Mandi Kaye joins Marc Scott to discuss AI Image Generation and how voice actors can use it in their marketing efforts.

Mandi shares her experience and insights on using various AI tools for image generation, including Dall-E, Ideogram and Leonardo.

They discuss the evolution of AI technology, the benefits and limitations of different tools, and the importance of prompts in generating desired images.

Mandi shares how she uses AI image generation to create social media posts and marketing materials for her voiceover business. She explains that she starts by writing the text she wants to accompany the image and then asks ChatGPT to generate an image that matches. She iterates on the generated images until she finds the perfect one.

Mandi also discusses the importance of creating detailed prompts to get the desired results. She shares examples of prompts she has used and emphasizes the need to be specific and thorough.

Potential concerns about using AI-generated content is also discussed.

AI isn't really coming anymore. It's already here and it's disrupting everything. Not just voice over. How much of a disruption remains to be seen. How long that disruption takes to have a major impact on the industry also remains to be seen.

Voice123 isn't a casting site built like any of the others. If you want to make it work, you need to learn how to use it properly. You need to understand how the casting and search algorithms work.

• Making personal connections and doing research before reaching out to voice buyers can make a marketing email stand out and demonstrate professionalism.

Summer is here and the slowdown is coming... or at least, that's what a lot of voice actors expect. The whole world has spent fifteen months living pandemic life and they're ready to get out and travel again.

Since caveman days, our brains have been genetically pre-disposed to protection. Our programming is designed to keep us safe. Voquent is a site you've maybe never heard of it before. At least, not if you're a North American voice actor. The site is based in the UK, and it works much differently from other online casting platforms. There are no membership fees, and no job posting board. But there are opportunities to book great work with great clients.

You should be creating content!

I'm often asked about all the different resources, services, tools and apps I'm using to run my business on a day to day basis. All the things that keep me productive and help me get so much done. Over the next few episodes, I'm going to highlight many of those tools in my toolbox.
