12 Jul 2019 | Bahra Brews & Death and Taxes Viability – feat. Marc König & Marius Hausmann + Bonus Vintage content | EP.60 | 01:26:32
What is Everyday Eternal?
For those unfamiliar with Everyday Eternal, it is one of the oldest Magic podcasts focussed on competitive Legacy (and we like to claim: sometimes also Vintage.) Together with our hosts Bob Huang, Matt Pavlic, Julian Knab, and their funky guests, we’re bringing you the latest news and technology from the world of Eternal Magic. God, could our iTunes BE any more generic? Can someone please rewrite this? Bob, Matt, anyone?
Intro Music: Pokémon Main Theme – 8 bit Remix
Two European Legacy allstars join Julian on the cast tonight. Marc “Bahra” König was one of the very first Magic Online streamers and over the years has established himself as one of the most well-known Death & Taxes players, having coached both SCG pros as well as Pro Tour regulars. Marius “MariusOfTheMoon” Hausmann is one of Germany’s most successful Eternal players of the last decade, who also looks back on a long history of activating.
After discussing the current state of Vintage for a while and showcasing Marc’s new innovations into the Legacy format, we take a deep dive on the current state of Death & Taxes. Our two guests polarizing opinions about the deck in its current iteration make for a great discussion and provides insights into both the challenges the deck faces, as well as the tools one can utilize in order to succeed in a metagame full of es and Plague s.

06 Aug 2019 | Cheaters Never Prosper | EP.62 | 01:31:53
For tonight's show, we welcome Canadian special forces recruit Matt back onto the cast, as Eric and Julian discuss the big tournament results of the weekend in Missouri and especially at the Cardmarket Series Frankfurt. Find out why Julian hasn't played Elves in a main event for the first time in many years and which decks he currently likes. Eric restores some faith in Julian that things might not be as bad for tribal decks as Julian felt this weekend. Our crew also discovers the hottest new tech in town: Squadron Hawk + Force of Virtue out of Death Birds & Taxes!
Eric and I also discuss our experience during the first week of the Legacy Unchained league we were invited to, and which cards we think could potentially come off the ban list at some point in the future.
In the second half of the show we discuss the disqualification for Cheating that happened after the Top8 of the CMS Frankfurt event, which was uncovered by Twitch chat and brought to the head judges' attention after the event had already finished. Here are the three clips we discuss in in this episode, which eventually lead to the disqualification of Sebastian Wibmer. They include one instance of playing two lands a turn, as well as two of him stacking the top card of his deck.

23 Aug 2019 | Brave New Legacy | EP.63 | 01:16:52
Turns out Bob’s still got it! Last weekend he took down the SCG Classic in Richmond with Slow Depths. The deck is certainly making its case for being arguably the best thing to do in Legacy right now – but Bob remains sceptical. In the wake of a still every-changing metagame, we discuss the winners and loser of the last weeks with results from the MTGO Legacy MCQ, the last two Legacy Challenges and Richmond. Find out why Soul Herder has been haunting Bob’s dreams and which deck Eric actually grinded before becoming everyone’s go-to Reanimator go…and learn about Julian’s currently complicated relationship with Elves.

06 Sep 2019 | “You Could Unban 8 Cards in Legacy” | EP.64 | 00:57:38
Eric, Matt and Julian gather on tonight’s episode to discuss the most recent metagame swing which saw Sneak Show starting to put up huge numbers. Are Emrakul & Friends back in full force or will new contenders such as and Dark Depths Elves become the new decks to beat?
In the second half of the cast, Eric and Julian discuss their impressions of the first five weeks of the Legacy Unchained tournament. Which (un)banned cards have overperformed, and which were utter disappointments? As Eric makes two bold claims about the playability of some highly controversial cards, Matt just wishes Fatal Push could stop holding back Siege Rhino…and Julian actually doesn’t want to unban ….if.

16 Sep 2019 | NBC Delver & What You Need To Know before Atlanta – feat. Jarvis Yu | EP.65 | 01:19:48
Following his win in the Legacy Format Playoff on the previous weekend with the hottest deck in town, Jarvis Yu joins Bob and Julian to talk about NBC RUG Delver. Known by many for his proficiency with RG Lands, Jarvis is actually a veteran Delver pilot and has a lot to say about the current state of the deck - and why it is secretly a Jund a deck at times!
In the second half of the cast, Bob goes full Facebook and unleashes his collective metagame data onto the world. He's been keeping track of all medium and high stakes Legacy events ever since the last sets releases, providing us with a comprehensive analysis of the most successful decks in the format right now. Which decks have been putting up the numbers - and which specific deck did lead Bob to call it one of the most overhyped decks in the history of the format?
Bob's Meta Analysis
Understanding Bob's data:
Decks are generally sorted into one of three categories: Aggro, Midrange/Control and Combo (from left to right)
The number under M20 shows the number of Top8 finishes of big Legacy tournaments with at least 8 rounds ever since M20 was released
The number under ELD is unimportant for now, it's for Throne of Eldraine. You can see the total metagame share of the deck in numbers and % in the last two columns
Colors show relevance: green has decks of at least 3% share, yellow shows decks with <3% but >2% share, and orange is for decks with less than 2% but more than 1%
Uncolored decks have been close to non-existent in the winners metagame
The numbers at the very bottom show aggregated metagame percentages for the grand categories: Aggro at 33.6%, Midrange/Control at 29.5% and Combo at 36.9%
This is Bob's break up of the data into different, non-archetype-specific categories. It teaches us about the prevalence of certain important cards in the metagame, such as how often non-blue decks rise to the top, how much of a factor Thalia, Guardian of Thraben still is in the metagame, and how Dark Depths has surpassed Griselbrand for the time being.

30 Mar 2020 | History Channel: The first 7 Legacy Bans | EP.74 | 01:27:59
With the world on lockdown and all Magic tournaments cancelled, we are taking you out of the current reality and onto a cruise through the history of Legacy. Together with our guests Marius "MariusOfTheMoon" Hausmann we specifically explore the bans of the years 2004-2011. I did a ton of research on this episode to provide you with some super interesting tidbits and little-known facts about these bannings. While doing so I found in particularly interesting to analyze Wizards of the Coast's historic explanations about their decisions, which played a significant part in establishing the formation of Legacy as we know it today.
With all our hosts being contemporaries of all these banned cards, we discuss our experiences with the respective cards at the times and how we feel about the necessity of their bans.

Get to know the new permanent host of Everyday Eternal - Callum "Whitefaces" Smith! After making several guest appearances on previous episodes, EU employee protection laws have forced us to offer Callum a permanent contract as a host. Fortunately for us, Callum's passion for Legacy and his sheerly insatiable hunger for innovation make him a perfect addition to our crew!
In today's show, Callum, Matt and Julian look back at the first two weeks of companions in Legacy. Analyzing the first four Legacy Challenges, our team looks at 128 lists worth of Top32. Not only do we discuss the most commonly played and successful archetypes right now (Grixis & Jeskai Delver, Zirda), but we also delve deep into some innovative brews that have emerged from the mayhem that is this new (temporary?) age of Legacy!

21 May 2020 | Don’t Sleep On These Decks! – feat. Max Gilmore | EP.77 | 01:12:29
With Lurrus and Zirda banned in record pace, Legacy initially looked to revert back to its pre-Ikoria state. But is it really? On today's show, Callum dives deeper on his Shark Control list he just Top4'ed the Legacy Challenge with. Did Standstill get cut just to improve the name of the deck even further, or are there actual gameplay considerations behind this? In any case, Shark Control is really making its pressence felt in the format and might just be the kind of Control deck blue mages have been longing for ever since UW Miracles had fallen out of favour.
In the second part of the cast, Callum and Julian discuss the primary deckbuilding constraints and principles in Legacy. 15 Aug 2020 | Understanding Poke Pile | EP.82 | 01:21:12
On today's show Callum and Julian discuss one of the hottest decks in the format: call it RUG Uro, Temur Denial or - like a cultured person - Poke Pile! Jeff "Pokemoki" White recently released this absolute beast of a deck onto the Legacy scene, and it's been putting up insanely good numbers in the hands of a lot of people. It's also one of the most controversial and misunderstood decks right now, primarily because of its strategically unorthodox use of Stifle.
Callum and Julian explore what makes the deck's use of Stifle so special, and why thinking of this deck as "Deverless Delver" might be misleading. They're discussing a potential resurgence of Bant Miracles, as Legacy dreadnought StefanoGs has re-entered the format!

26 Aug 2020 | How to Win Games and Infect People – with Sam Dams | EP.83 | 01:42:40
In keeping with 2020's global theme, we invited Belgian Infect aficionado Sam Dams to the show tonight. And by that we mean: there has been an overwhelming amount of requests for him through the entire year on both our Patreon Discord and Twitter. No surprise though, given how Sam has made a name for himself as arguably the most prolific Infect pilot since the heydays of Tom Ross!
Together we explore this somewhat "forgotten" Legacy archetype, which Sam still considers to be one of the best decks in the format. Yet he's also the first to admit that the deck is facing new challenges; in particular WotC's power creep on creatures is causing issues for Infect. In order to combat them, Sam has decided to add another colour to the deck - as well as everyone's favourite broken Planeswalker!
Towards the end of the show we answer a TON of questions submitted via our Discord and Twitter; among them some of the best strategic and of course also meme questions (thanks Tom). If you wanna pick up one of the most wrongfuly underestimated decks in the format and either kill people on turn2 or grind them into oblivion, this deck & episode are for you!

13 Sep 2020 | Eternal at 4Seasons Bologna – with Tom De Decker | EP.84 | 01:35:37
Joining us today is the Belgian Eternal LEGEND Tom De Decker. Tom is one of the stalwarts of the European Eternal community and a major force in promoting our beloved formats. Whether it's through providing Vintage decks for several people at an event, organizing their accommodation or providing guided tours through tournament cities, Tom is doing more for our communities than I can put into words here.
Just the other week, the famous Italian tournament organizer 4Seasons hosted what we believe to be the first big Eternal event ever since Covid hit the world. In Bologna over 150 players gathered for Legacy (and a respetcable 19 for Vintage). Joining them was Tom, who's giving us a first-hand report of what it was like playing in the event - both with regards to the special Covid-precautions and how they influenced all kinds of things from shuffling to railbirding restrictions. Afterwards Callum and I take a look at the Top16 decks of the format and which kind of sweet tech made it to the top of the event!

With JPA93 currently in an identity crisis, this task has been handed to Bryant "Bryant_Cook" Cook, who completely CRUSHED both the Legacy Super PTQ on Saturday, and the Legacy Challenge on Sunday. Callum and I go over these epic results, as well as how Hogaak might actually be the biggest threat to the currently metagame!
In the second half of the show we scan the upcoming Zendikar Rising set for Legacy playables. We are pretty sure about one of the cards making a big splash in a tier1 deck, and then proceed to go over a ton of "maybes."

14 Oct 2020 | If You’re Blocking, You’re Losing | EP.86 | 01:23:22
With Matt back from his secret mission, he joins Callum and Julian for a discussion of all things Legacy (and a tiny bit of Vintage!) that have happened recently: Legacy Showcase Challenge results (including Julian's Top4 with Elves), Marc Vogt's Bant Miracles and our recommendations for both Legacy and Vintage in the upcoming Eternal Weekend Online! Speaking of which, definitely don't miss this chance to get your "god account" with (almost) all the cards in Magic!
We also cover our thoughts on the recently released Secret Lair: Walking Dead, both with regards to the playability of the those cards as well as the general concept of Secret Lairs.
Bonus content: Matt asks you to anonymously submit your questions about everything you always wanted to know about dentistry, but never dared to ask ;-)

22 Oct 2020 | Review of All 8-2 or Better EW Legacy Lists! | EP.87 | 02:10:26
Eternal Weekend 2020 is in the books, and with over 1,600 entrants between the three main events, this has been one of THE highlights in the 15+ year history of our beloved Legacy format. Following WotC's decision to pair entry into the format with access to (almost) ALL cards on Magic Online, one of the biggest breathes of fresh air hit the format as people rallied to enter the Karkas, Rishadan Port and Maze of Ith championships.
On this episode Callum and Julian cover both the spirit and results of these three events, as they go about the Top16 of each event and some of the most interesting deckbuilding choices they can find. Garruk, Primal Hunter and Retrofitter Foundry in Snow, Ground Seal in Oops All Spells and many more things to shake up a format...that is yet still dominated by RUG Delver and 4/5c Snowko. Still, the glorious return of Death & Taxes into the limelight is one of the most positive takeaways from this weekend, and we're looking forward to how things are gonna develop.
We also show you what you haven't seen on coverage yet. Following the communitiy's effort to map out all 8-2 and better lists from the vent, we bring you a much larger metagame overview than just the Top16 lists!

Joining us for a special Vintage-themed episode is Justin "IamActuallyLvL1" Gennari. Justin has made a name for himself as the premier streamer of the format, and is responsible for a ton of new blood entering the format over the last couple of month. Together we explore one of the most booming formats on Magic Online right now, as well as the over 18,000 matches that were recently analyzed by Justin and his crew of dedicated data collectors!
If you've always been curious about what Vintage actually how, what the gameplay is like and how to best get into the format on Magic Online, this episode is for you! We roughly outline the major archetypes of the format, recent developments and which decks are up and coming again. We also discuss Callum's and Julian's runs in Eternal Weekend Vintage, as well as Julian's victory in the Vintage Challenge, and do a deep dive on one of Vintage's most exciting decks, Paradoxical Outcome.

18 Nov 2020 | Commander Legends Review + Top5 Legacy Decks | EP.89 | 01:45:54
Prelude: Callum hates the Monarch mechanic.
Today's show starts off with a therapy session for Callum & Julian, who have both been recently exposed to the power of MINOTAURS in Legacy. Recounting how they both got destroyed by Legacy's hottest new way to break Didggerido, they dissect the deck known as Thunderbluff 3.0.
After looking at a couple of recent tournament results, Julian proposes the Top 5 decks of Legacy, while Callum suggests a couple of decks that are also up there, rounding out the most likely decks you're gonna encounter in a competitive environment. Afterwards we move on to our review of Commander Legends, covering all the parts that will, might or probably won't see play. Did we mention that Callum hates the Monarch mechanic?

25 Nov 2020 | How To Win Over 80% Of Your Matches – feat. Marc Eric Vogt | EP.90 | 02:42:52
This is an episode I've been looking forward to for a long time. Marc Eric Vogt is not only one of the very first people I got to know when I started playing Legacy ~15 years ago, I also feel overwhelmingly confident in saying that he is one of the best, if not the best Legacy player I ever met.
Marc recently picked up MTGO again after an 8-year hiatus and immediately jumped to completely anihilating the competition. After two months of grinding and streaming, he is sitting at an absolutely mindblowing winrate of over 80%. He has won the AnziD Lotus Box Invitational and a Challenge, has Top8'ed another and just last weekend finished Top4 in the giant Mana Traders tournament.
But what is Marc's success built on? Callum and I invited him for one of our deepest dives on how to be a winning Legacy player. This is not only (but especially) for those who want to learn the underappreciated art of Control-Fu, but also for those who want to understand game on a deeper level. Marc offers incredible advice (and some bad takes on Sauerkraut) that's gonna be invaluable to anyone looking to take their game to the next level.

12 Dec 2020 | Exploring Rainbow Depths – with Tom Hepp | EP.91 | 02:01:00
It is Christmas. There is a knock on your door. You think it's Santa. As you open the door, you realize you forgot to play around Elvish Spirit Guide. You try to slam it shut but it is too late. Tom Hepp runs you over with Marit Lage.
Sounds familiar? Every day dozens of people get crushed by one of Magic Online's most dangerous endbosses. Tom "Negator77" Hepp is currently sitting at a record 38 trophies in the Legacy Leagues, and continues to dominate the Magic Online meta at will. He recently unleashed Rainbow Depths onto the world, which maybe offers the highest power level relatively to its cost. Using no Reserved List cards, you can build this deck for less than $700, and probably even way less depending on what you already have. But it gets even better: Tom has put together Rainbow Depths - Total Sideboarding for us, because he doesn't just want to "send you to your death" as he puts it.
If you're looking to learn from the best there is when it comes to Dark Depths, and also want to find out which member of the cast was once chased by a giant bull, this episode is for you!

31 Dec 2020 | Paper Magic in 2021 & 2020 in Review | EP.92 | 01:31:36
For our final episode of the year, the whole crew of Matt, Callum and Julian comes together to take a look back at one of the most turbulent years in the history of Legacy. From one of the most broken decks that ever saw the light of day, via a card that was upon spoiler immediately called out as more broken than Black Lotus – 2020 has been an incredibly wild ride. But not for all of us! With Covid raging around the world, Paper Magic had been put on the back burner in most of the world, with many players never even getting to play a single match against some of the utter brokenness that was this year in review.
We’re all incredibly excited for what’s to come in 2021. Julian in particular has a lot of thoughts about why 2021 should be the year of empowering local and especially regional Magic, as opposed to trying to force the game back into an expired Organized Play concept that doesn’t feel right for 2021 anymore. Listen to his thoughts about why WotC and 3rd party TOs should instead strengthen regional mid-sized tournaments around the world, especially during a year of rebuilding.

31 Jan 2021 | Why Japan Gets Legacy Right – feat. Kai Sawatari | EP.93 | 01:39:39
Joining us today is one of enthusiastic ambassadors of the Legacy format. Kai Sawatari might not be the most visible online persona (thus far!), but not only is he one of the funniest and most relaxed guys to hang out with at tournaments, he's also an incredibly talented ANT/Doomsday pilot. Born in Japan, Kai had spent most of his life in Germany, but eventually decided to move back to Japan where he's been crushing tournaments for the past 6 years. For tonight's episode we invited him to get some of the positive energy he emits everywhere he goes on the cast, but also to learn more about one of the most fascinating Legacy scenes in the world: the Greater Tokio area. And while we all knew that Tokio is often considered the Mecca of Legacy and offers tons of ways to play Legacy every day, Kai still totally blew us away with HOW much Legacy there actually is in Japan's capital. On top of that we also explore in what ways Magic: the Gathering in Japan is such a different experience to players more used to the European/American ways. Kai paints a picture of a much more chilled out but at the top levels just as cutthroat environment, with players showing massive support to their LGS and fostering probably the greatest Legacy scene in the world!
We also touch on Kai's work as an artist, and why it would have had a much better chance to be printed onto a Homelands card than on anything being released today! And just when you thought the episode was over, Callum pulls out the horror story of Wigan Kebab. Seriously, what is that?!

31 Jan 2021 | Ball Lighting Tribal & KLH Set Review | EP.94 | 01:57:53
Turn 2, Ball Lightning!
Callum has used his time in quarantine to intensify his work on breaking Legacy with memes-turned-decks. This time it's a GRb Ball Lighting tribal deck that actually works much better than we'd have ever anticipated. Make sure to pack your Tundra Wolves because this one's about to become massive....until end of turn.
With Kaldheim being released on Magic Online right now, and becoming available in Paper on February 5th, we cover all the cards that might see play in Legacy; as well as one particular card an astonishing amount of people have been losing their minds over. As we discuss why the card is actually horrible, Callum proposes an ambitious bet of actually eating a hat if it actually turns out to be as insane. Is that gonna be enough motivation for some of you to try and actually break it? Please let us know because we're already shorting the shit out of it!

28 Feb 2021 | The Kings are Dead – Long Live Legacy! | EP.95 | 01:39:04
Monday, February 15th 2021 is going down in Legacy history. Never before have three cards been banned in Legacy ever since its creation in 2004. Callum, Matt and Julian sit down to not only discus the aftermath of the forced departure of Oko, DHA and Astrolabe, but also the significance of the reasoning provided by Wizards of the Coast. Specifically their commitment to players' desire for a format more diverse and rich in varied gameplay is a strong committment to what WotC prominently acknowledged as the 'spirit of the format.'
We're incredibly excited for Legacy's doors finally swinging wide open® again and can't wait to jump into exploring this whole new world!

28 Feb 2021 | Introducing Esper Mentor | EP.96 | 02:03:07
Callum just BULLDOZED his way through the new Legacy metagame on the past weekend. He took down both the Lotus Box Octagon as well as the Saturday Legacy Challenge with his new creation, Esper Mentor - or as Julian likes to call it, Wigan Kebab Control. It just rolls off the tongue. In today's episode we hit a deep dive into what lead Callum to picking Esper as the best shell for breaking the card of the tournament, Of One Mind. We also find out why Teferi, Time Raveler is absolutely broken with Unearth, and what filthy things the two are up to on a regular basis!
Tune in to find out about one of the most refreshing, entertaining newly emerged decks of the format, as well as a summary of what else has been going on in Legacy ever since the The Good, The Bad and the Ugly were banned.

31 Mar 2021 | Agency, Consistency & Other Traps | EP.97 | 01:15:10
"If I wanted to maximize both agency over my draws & consistency of my deck, I'd play 60 Islands" - Julian
A recent discussion in the Leaving a Legacy FB group about the value of agency, consistency and specifically Sylvan Library had individually caught Matt's, Callum's and Julian's attention. Both concepts are sometimes fetishized to a non-competitive degree, without accounting for the marginal costs associated with maximizing them. In today's show, we go deep on the dynamics of the power-vs-consistency spectrum, and the external factors impacting the degree to which you should push your deck's consistency.
Tying into that are our thoughts about how to avoid trapping yourself in delusions of agency over too limited a spectrum of decisions. We explore which aspects seem to be popular with players trying to maximize agency, while other less tangible and harder-o-master ones will be forgone despite yielding much larger returns.
This discussion especially relates to both building & playing non-blue decks with Sylvan Library, but also teaches the general mindset of a competitive player.

16 Jun 2021 | Being A Scrub & How To Avoid It | EP.101 | 01:06:49
"Playing good decks gives you a feeling of growth."
What makes one a scrub? And what does it even mean to be one? Callum & Julian explore the meaning of the term and why it fundamentally has nothing to do with how well you play Magic - but whether your expectations align with the amount of work you're willing to put into improvement. Becoming aware of your self-imposed rules in playing the game can both help you level up your game, but most importantly prevent frustration with plateauing. One of the most excellent resources on this topic is David Sirlin's Playing To Win - Becoming the Champion (2002) that dedicates an entire chapter (available online!) to this today's topic.
In the second half of the show we discuss how both Expressive Iteration already has, and how Abundant Harvest will shape future deckbuilding in Legacy; especially the latter has the potential for a fundamental shift in how to build Midrange and Control decks.

Modern Horizons 2 looks to have at least just as much of an impact on Legacy as its predecessor. Thus far a ton of playable cards have been spoiled, with some of them even looking to become absolute format mainstays for years to come! Callum and Julian go over the most recent spoilers and break down 15 selected cards and how they fit into the format. We generally tried to step away from dedicated episodes of set reviews, but with Modern Horizons 2 bringing the big guns, it was more than worth it! Highlights include some of the most powerful one-drops Delver has ever seen (#eaththerich), but also a super rare triple-crossover sideboard card for green decks to take on Delver, Graveyards AND Doomsday! Even though some of those cards might turn out problematic in the format, we're excited to see them put into action. Also: Callum makes another prediction to shut down the podcast if a specific one of these cards ends up breaking the format.

They also break down the most over/underhyped cards in the set judging by results thus far, and which two utility cards have already become absolute Legacy allstar mainstays. 12 Aug 2021 | Kai Sawatari’s Favourite Fishmonger | EP.107 | 01:47:14
None other than the German-Japanese Legacy globetrotter Kai Sawatari is rejoining the cast tonight! Following many years of great success on the European circuit, Kai relocated to his native Japan a couple of years ago to follow his passions. Inspired by a guest appearance on Everyday Eternal in January of this year, Kai recently set up his own stream and has been taking Legacy by storm...or rather Doomsday! On top of being a distinguished crafter of 5-card decks, Kai has also made a name for himself for his card alterations which often feature prominently during his broadcast.

27 Aug 2021 | Delver gets DUNKED on in the Showcase! | EP.108 | 01:26:49
Birthday-Brit Callum and Julian tackle a bunch of listener questions about the current state of Legacy. What's going on with UR Delver, Bant Miracles and Death & Taxes, and why THIS ONE WEIRD trick deck is probably severely underplayed. Julian also tries to explain the Magic Online Championship Series structure and fails horribly at it. Enter Callum and the key to unlock $70,000 by playing (mostly) Legacy.
In the second half of the show we cover the results of the super high stakes Legacy Showcase Qualifier from the weekend, as well as the results of the last couple of Legacy Challenges. Find out why the Qualifier's most played deck only posted a 30% Winrate and what this means for deckbuilding in Legacy going forward. Also, Doomsday is still sick.

12 Sep 2021 | New Metagame SLAYERS | EP.109 | 01:31:25
Legacy is EVOLVING! Ever since Modern Horizon 2 put the formats on its head once again, with Monkeys, Dragons and Constructs running the tables, players have started adapting to this new madness that is our format now. Callum & Julian look into three of the most interesting decks to pop up/back into the format: Marcus Ewaldh almost goes all the way with HIGH TIDE, an ACTUAL AFFINITY deck, and Anuraag fully embraces the degeneracy that is Neo Czech Pile! Oh, and in the end, Yorion Death & Taxes wins again. This is getting spooky, but Callum has a theory about why it just keeps taking down tournaments and why we're all guilty of still not respecting the deck enough.

29 Sep 2021 | Winning The Showcase! | EP.110 | 01:46:02
It’s common knowledge among podcasters that while a lot of your time & energy is focussed on producing content, every once in a while you have to renew your “Serious Tournament Player” membership. For Julian, his was up this month so he jumped straight into the Legacy Showcase Challenge and took it down. Easy as that, right? It helps when you have a BIG FLYING DRAGON or three on your side! Join us for this episode in which we not only recap all 11 rounds of the Showcase, but also focus on the exact style on UWr Saga Julian registered in the event. Lord Ozymandias had written one of the best guides of the year for this event, and it proved to be a most valuable asset to have while navigating through a whole bunch of Monkeys, Dragons and Constructs!

22 Oct 2021 | The Joy of Painting & DQ Talk | EP.111 | 02:09:07
"I see a red card and I want it painted blue. I could not foresee this thing happening to you."
- Mick "Painter's Servant" Jagger (1966)
Callum & Julian welcome Legacy Methuselah Marius Hausmann back onto the cast to discuss a wide range of topics, starting out each one's performances in our fast-growing local Legacy events. Callum had a great run with UW Yorion Bomberman, Marius split the finals with his unique take on Painter, and Julian placed third after almost losing to Food Reanimator.
Sparked by a discussion on our Discord, we then look into what people mean when they talk about the "true" Legacy metagame, and why context is so important to that rather controversial concept. Towards the middle of the show, Callum & Marius dive deep onto their different styles of Imperial Painter, while Julian is just excited he doesn't have to sacrifice City of Traitors under Blood Sun.
In the second part of the show we take a look at the Top16 results of the 240-players 4Seasons event that went down last weekend in Bologna, Italy. Following a player's DQ while playing for Top8 in that event, the three of us get into a broader debate about splitting etiquette, bribery and community problems arising from it. Julian, while probably taking the harsher stance on it, still makes a point about whether the current way of handling things is still appropriate in a post-WotC-Organized-Play world.

26 Nov 2021 | Eternal Weekend In the Books! – with Nevilshute | EP.113 | 02:17:06
With the three BIGGEST Legacy events of the year in the books, Callum & Julian invite Danish Doomsday deity Martin 'nevilshute' Nielsen to the cast! Martin just finished runner-up in the biggest of last weekend's Legacy events, nearly taking home the Sylvan Library painting. Martin tells us all you ever wanted to know about Doomsday, and why sometimes you don't even need Thassa's Oracle to win.
In the second half of the cast, we go over the top finishers of all three events - and discover maybe the WILDEST deckbuilding principle we ever encountered in a (successful) deck - definitely don't miss the madness that is the 67 main, 12 sideboard card deck that made Top16 in of of these events!

18 Dec 2021 | Winning Eternal Weekend & The State of Legacy | EP.114 | 02:00:09
Alex 'Vivarus' McKinley joins Callum & Julian to celebrate his recent win in the Eternal Weekend Vintage Mox Emerald Championship. Alex and his crew applied specific principles to constructing the Grixis Tinker Breach list that guided him all the way to the trophy, and we promise only 90% of it is gonna about playing the most broken card they could find. Is Preordain secretly the best still unrestricted spell in Vintage?
In the second part of the show we take a look at Legacy, and its pathological addiction towards adding more colours to decks - and getting away with it! Especially the most recent Challenges & the NRG Series have driven this trend up another notch. However, unlike during previous Blue Soup Seasons, there's a noticeable trend towards loading up on Wastelands and Life From the Loams, instead of adding a 5th colour. Seriously, what happened to everybody's favourite trend of 5c Blood Moon? Towards the end Julian is interested in bringing back an old classic, but Callum is just dead inside :-(

30 Dec 2021 | Julian Almost Goes To The Pro Tour | EP.115 | 01:25:28
For the final episode of the year, the full triforce assembles once again, as we get military clearance to have Matt back on the cast. In the first part of today's show, we try to stay on the topic of Julian almost qualifying for the Pro Tour through the Legacy Showcase Qualifier, playing the weirdest version of Elves to date, but the conversation escalates the most absurd discussion of the year..thus far. Once things get back on track we dive deeper into one of the highest-profile/stakes event of the year, as Callum rediscovers his desire to crush the MTGO meta. Someone brings up Siege Rhino.
For the second half of the cast, we discover the three of the biggest news items in Legacy and/or Magic as a whole. The one that completely blindsided everyone surely was Wizards of the Coast selling(?) MTGO and everything that comes with it to Daybreak Games - a company both famous for killing off dying games BUT ALSO rejuvenating games stuck in a dead-end. Only time will tell where MTGO will be headed under their leadership, but Julian has a revolutionary idea of what this might actually mean for the MTGO economy. We also cover all the upcoming big Paper events, and why everybody's favourite lazy Sunday afternoon activity is about to come back.

21 Jan 2022 | An Intro To Modern with Andrea Mengucci | EP.116 | 02:28:12
After Callum had been shamelessly stood up by our scheduled guest, Queen Elizabeth II of England, we instead invited the ONE and ONLY Andrea Mengucci of Italy to save the day and introduce us to the current state of Modern! The format has recently gotten tons of praise following the release of Modern Horizons 2, with some voices even comparing it to the “Golden Age” of Legacy. After checking with our Patreon Discord, our supporters were overwhelmingly in favour of dedicating an episode to learning all there is to know about why Modern is such an amazing experience right now, so here we are!
This episode is especially for those who want to make their way into the format or want to understand it from the point of view of one of Magic’s greatest players & personalities. Andrea’s passion for both Magic and Modern in particular really shows throughout the episode, and we’re super excited to follow him into the mystical wonderland that is Modern right now.

27 Jan 2022 | Have You Seen This Monkey? | EP.117 | 01:26:57
Ragavan has been banned. Our sweet prince of Legacy, beloved by many and revered by even more, is no more. Wizards of the Coast has taken action, and our simian sidekick will speak, see or do no evil anymore. But as a wise man once said: don't be sad it's over - be glad it happened. In this spirit, Callum and Julian analyze WotC's stated reason for banning the monkey, and why this B&R announcement has already pathed the way for the following one "soon" after. We also take a look at the state of the format we're now just entered, and which decks as well as card choices will constitute the upper tier of Legacy moving forward.
In the first part of the episode, we also look at Starcitygames' paradigm shift in content policy, and why it's a real watershed moment for the way content creation will happen be accessible in the future - for ALL of Magic!

Legacy developers are currently working in full overdrive, creating fast-combo decks out of removal spells, and conducting ethically questionable experiments trying to merge two or more decks into one. Callum, Matt & Julian dive into the madness and uncover a hidden gem that had been lurking around the format for a while, before having its breakout result rather recently. The crew also explores the uses of it in especially UB "Tempo" Doomsday and why Temporal Mastery is now the most playable Miracle spell in Legacy.

The Legacy Showcase Challenge flipped the metagame on its head: an all-creature Sliver deck, the latest iteration of Goblins, a TON of turbo-charged Goblin decks - and in the middle of the madness, Javier Dominguez driving his Esper Yorion Cephalid Breakfast car around the arena. Legend has it Javier's list was created during a transporter freak accident, but what do we know about Star Wars? Kai, Callum & Julian jump into the most interesting decks that made Top8 in the biggest Legacy event of the month and uncover the ancient secret of Japanese shuffling sound design.

23 Jun 2022 | USA, Kenya & Kai Wins EtCetera Legacy | EP.124 | 01:42:37
Today's episode is mostly travel stories from around the world: Callum just returned from his band's month-long tour of the American Midwest and East Coast, where he picked up, among other things, an 18-inch machete at Walmart, and played in front of some of the biggest audiences ever...yet! Julian meanwhile declined an absolute bargain on a Maasai-knife in Kenya, where he spent the last three weeks working from a hammock above a lagoon. And Kai does, what Kai does best: destroying people with Doomsday, at the legendary Et Cetera Legacy tournament in Freising.
These are their stories.

27 Jul 2022 | Play Every Event For Free with This 1 Little Trick | EP.127 | 01:52:34
If there's one country that knows what it takes to flavour the shit out of a tournament, it is Japan, where earlier this month, the 20th all-Japanese GOD of Legacy was crowned. However, similar to the Chess World Championship, one does not simply ascend to divinity but instead has to battle their way through a candidates tournament, in order to earn the right to challenge the reigning GOD of Legacy.
What sounds like an anime plot is the reality that Legacy players in Japan are living every quarter of the year. In today's episode, the boys browse through the innovation to come out of the candidates' tournament, and the psychology of whether or not you would dare to metagame against a deity. Oh, and Painter wins another big tournament. Tune in to learn more, and finally solve the age-old question of where the North of England actually starts!

14 Sep 2022 | Your Pet Card Sucks – with xJCloud | EP.130 | 01:41:22
It's a full house today, as the entire crew is joined by famed sky noodle expert John Ryan 'xJCloud' Hamilton. xJ recently relocated his desires into the realms of Dragon Stompy, and used his dark powers to once again almost take down a Legacy SuperPTQ. Nevertheless, his 2nd place finish was good enough to qualify him for the Pro Tour (or whatever the cool kids call it these days).
We invited xJ to give us his take on how to build the deck, what the common pitfalls in deck construction are - and answer a whole bunch of questions from our Discord & Twitter. We also showcase a couple of interesting lists from the SuperPTQ, and mock Kai for losing Flying.

30 Sep 2022 | Winning the Showcase Challenge with Sheoldred – feat. Maxtortion | EP.131 | 01:44:48
In an impromptu attempt at amateur science, the crew looks into the effect of pouring a bottle of wine over your keyboard. The results will SHOCK you, as one of us soon gets relegated to a literal casting couch for the rest of the podcast. Oh, and there's Max Gilmore too, who actually CRUSHED the quarterly Legacy Showcase Challenge on Magic Online with Sheoldred, the Apocalypse. Never since the days of Juzám Djinn has a black four-drop creature ruled the tables again, so we're all excited to find out more about it. Oh, and Max happily calls Anuraag Das' bet.
Further down the cast, Kai and Max start arguing over the implied equity of making a second "backup" child, and why you should never ask someone out for a date twice...or should you?

06 Oct 2022 | WotC REPRINTS* Black Lotus | EP.132 | 01:56:39
"Back in the old days at Wizards of the Coast, we used to joke about how cravenly greedy it would be to release cards that you could only get with a high purchase price, like only available in a booster box etc. We often said that if we did that it was because we were out of ideas and the grasping suits had totally taken over. Then we would laugh because we would never allow that to happen.
We called them 'chase' cards and we knew their single purpose was to squeeze even more money out of obsessed players. Even back then we understood 100% that it was in effect taking advantage of people with certain mental disorders and that it was the wrong thing to do.
We knew that many players would see it for what it was, a sign of a total loss of respect for our players all for a pathetic short-term gain. Those cards would have been aimed squarely at benefiting shareholders, not to benefit the players. It would have been disgusting. That is why we never did it, though it was discussed."

28 Oct 2022 | Axion Tournament Recap & Rise of Naya Stompy | EP.133 | 02:09:25
With a foreword about Jordan Aisaka
The previous weekend, England's Axion Now hosted one of the big non-GP tournaments the UK has ever seen: The Gathering offered the two so-called MEGA LEGACY events, each attracting 100+ players. Everyday Eternal was represented by our professional painter pilot Callum, who managed to navigate his way to two Top16 finishes with Painter. Both Legacy Top8s of the weekend featured some super interesting decks: one a huge blast from the Wilson-Hunter-past of the format and a way to stomp people with Courser of Cruphix - while the other saw the breakout of NAYA STOMPY. Listen to Julian grow from immediately wanting to replace one of the cards in it, to actually ordering a playset before the end of the episode.
Oh, and Sticker Goblins makes its first premier-ish level Top8. And Doomsday for 4 Triumph of Saint Katherine gets cast.
In the second half of the cast, we also go over the surprisingly short-notice announcement of the 2022 Eternal Weekends, our team composition for the upcoming 4Seasons championship, and answer your listener questions.

In the second half of the show, we go over Callum's insane run in both Challenges, going 13-0 across both Swiss. Of course, he immediately loses to UR Delver in the Quarters. Come on Callum, get your shit together!

Julian jumps from a ship and swims ashore to eat the famous island grass. Is this the first Legacy podcast recorded in Africa? Julian calls in from Kenya, while Callum steals someone else's WiFi to tune in on the day he moved into a new apartment. This leaves this episode with KAI as the most professional member of the cast. Enter at your own risk.
I'm editing this episode during a 16-hour stint at home, right after returning from Kenya, and before leaving for Bologna tomorrow at 6am. If this is your first time experiencing the Everday Eternal: you picked the worst episode - or maybe, just maybe: the very best.

Allegedly. Listener caution advised. All we know is that ChatGPT will most certainly do a better job judging your next event than Kai did in his first (and last) appearance as a judge. 31 Jan 2023 | ULTIMATE Banlist Review Episode | EP.139 | 02:13:46
With Julian still on the run, the boys review the entire Legacy banlist card-by-card, wondering how each one compares to the current standards of Legacy. For a hot 2 minutes, Julian thinks Mana Vault could get unbanned before his fever wears off. What starts out as a quick evaluation of some of the more broken cards quickly develops into how they would/could/should be used in 2023 Legacy. Apparently one of them completely breaks Hedron Crab.
Tune in for a dynamic yet laid-back episode of shooting the shit. Basically, an escape from the interregnum state of Legacy as everyone waits for something to happen.

22 Feb 2023 | Kai BLACKLISTS Germany | EP.140 | 01:09:18
With Julian's journey coming to an end, the entire crew regroups back home again to as Kai rolls out his new economic masterplan: forget #MengucciFinance - this is Sawatarix Economics, and it's here to stay. Somehow the failing Callum and Julian remain unconvinced in the face of Kai's economic genius, but surely our listeners will be able to appreciate our co-host's brilliant business savviness.
While Kai has been preparing for the unquestionable riches that are about to come his way, Callum has been slinging some cards in Birmingham's GREAT HALL at the Axion MEGA Legacy event! Seriously, every tournament needs to be held inside nothing less than a GREAT HALL. Accept no less, and check out how even Callum spins out of control as as the team tries to understand how many Painter variants have now been released into the wild - and how new ones are popping up quicker than we can name them.

28 Feb 2023 | WE’RE GOING TO ITALY…again! | EP.141 | 02:02:42
While Kai still tries to resolve his identity crisis by adding Expressive Iteration to every deck under the sun, Callum considers bringing back old faithful for 4Seasons Vintage. Because who doesn't remember Goblin Welder's reign of terror back in the day? Meanwhile Julian actually got to ONLY NOW play with Chaos Defiler in a real tournament, as he Top8s Et Cetera Freising.
In the second half of the show, we cover all the recent developments in Legacy, as the community heads into yet another massive 4Seasons in Bologna this weekend. We also go about which decks we are going to play in the event(s), and why Doomsday has given Kai so much brain damage, he is no longer able to properly play it on consecutive days. What a noob.
Favourite story of the day: Callum's played a deck that terrible at his last event, even the judges suggested he should make some changes - and made a special ruling to allow him to do so.

With White Plume Adventurer & Expressive Iterration finally put to rest, Kai, Callum & Julian reflect on the first week of post-ban Legacy. Has RG Initiative lived up to the hype, and how will Delver compensate on both tactical and strategic levels? Two of our heroes look back at their first Legacy Challenge results in this wide-open™ new format, and discuss why Kai's fears of Predict are probably unwarranted.
In the first half of the show, we also look back at yet another outstandingly-well-run 4Seasons event in Bologna, in which Everyday Eternal Top8'ed the Team Tournament...after which Callum got lost somewhere in Europe, while Kai joined the Bologna Nerd Club in some remote underground garage. 22 May 2023 | Top Spice Decks of May – feat. 1MrLee | EP.146 | 01:34:49
What's better than Europe & Asia? Australia, obviously. On today's show Kai, Callum & Julian are joined by none other than Lee Hung Nguyen aka 1MrLee, who is currently hiding from the law in Berlin, of all the places. Anarcho-Kai has given him shelter for the night, as 1MrLee joins the cast for a special guest appearance.
The four of us discuss the implications of the new-and-improved Banned & Restriction schedule and catch up on some of the most interesting Legacy results of the month.

31 May 2023 | To Staff Or Not To Staff – feat. Marcus ‘iwouldliketorespond’ Ewaldh | EP.147 | 01:44:13
Famed Swedish Legacy Control mage Marcus 'iwouldliketorespond' Ewaldh joins the cast tonight. Together we go deep on his very low-to-the-ground Jeskai Staff list which he's been Top8'ing Legacy Challenges left and right with recently. Marcus prefers an incredibly streamlined approach with no end-game payoffs but balances this out by employing 4 copies of Urza's Saga. This is contrasted by Angelo "wiky" Cadei's Jeskai Staff-less list that heavily leans on endgame Planeswalkers, Shark Typhoon, and Day's Undoing.
Going further we also look into an entirely new and unique take on Legacy Control that Phil Bleckman started pushing recently, which gives Julian severe Cunning Wish Landstill flashbacks.

17 Jun 2023 | Legacy is Back in Black & Callum’s New Painter | EP.149 | 01:19:56
Have you ever confused a random warhorse for the most glorious king of Rohan? Happens to the best of us. As yet another episode's script is short-notice altered by Callum crushing a tournament (with an altered version of Painter), the crew comes together to reivew Kai's special appearance at the BOTTROP series in, well, BOTTROP and why people paid money to wrestle with him. Also find out why Orcish Bowmasters is about to give Legacy the Wrenn and Six treatment, and completely wrap for the time to come...we believe.
To round things out we highlight the results of yet another 300+ player 4Seasons in Bologna, as well as the 100+ players German Legacy Championship - the first one to take place in 12 years!

01 Jul 2023 | Take A Bow, Legacy | EP.150 | 01:30:44
Callum, Kai & Julian gather for a first assessment of the damage Orcish Bowmasters & Friends have done, and are happy they actually brought up a card last episode that Callum completely underestimated. With tons of high-stake events in the books, we take a look at which new cards have actually made an impact, and discuss our feelings about Bowmasters after getting a couple of games in with them.
In the second part of the show, we take a look at the results of NRG Chicagoland, SCG Baltimore, and a couple other events. Julian is especially excited about the Creative Technique ("Mississippi River") Cascade deck they managed to camera in round 2 of NRG Chicagoland...that just barely missed the Top8 in the end.

24 Jul 2023 | WE WENT TO SPAIN! – feat. runkor | EP.151 | 01:35:58
With Callum currently rocking out on a burning boat in Eastern Europe, Kai & Julian invite Iñigo 'runkor' Villamor onto the show, to look back at their adventures at IMPACT Returns in Spain earlier this month. There, in the very north-western reaches of the country in Galicia, the IMPACT crew had (thus far) rather secretly built the second-biggest recurring Legacy of Europe. We look back at their history which reaches back over a decade to a bunch of guys inside a bar, all the way to the big Legacy+Modern events that are hosting now.
Starting this year, Impact is now reaching out beyond the Spanish borders, attracting players from the rest of the continent. As coverage was being switched to English, they brought in Kai & Julian as commentators for both the Spanish Legacy Champs on Friday and the Main Event on Saturday.
We look back at a weekend fueled with just the best of Spanish Legacy, people, cuisine, and beaches! If you're gonna miss an episode, don't let it be this one!

08 Aug 2023 | MIND’S DESIRE is unbanned & WINNING! | EP.152 | 01:25:09
QUICK GET IN THE CAR, MIND'S DESIRE HAS BEEN UNBANNED IN LEGACY!
As the news hit on our way back home from work, Kai, Callum & I immediately jumped into a call to record our thoughts about one of the most exciting unban in years! Not only is Mind's Desire one of the most epic cards in the history of the game - it also sets a new precedent for WotC being willing to touch cards that were once considered un-unbanable. We touch on different ways to build the deck, look back at the Legacy UNCHAINED Series from 2019 (during which Mind's desire got some action!), and cast our votes where we see the card in 6 months.
In the second half of the show, we highlight Mississippi River winning the most recent Saturday Legacy Challenge in the hands of Sean Goddard, and why that deck is causing so much frustration (or pure joy) among players right now. Oh, and SHRAPNEL BLAST is back too. We're living through some wild times right now, and I'm loving it!
Bonus Content: right as the show ended, we found Martin 'Nevilshute' Nielsen's first draft of a Mind's Desire deck that he went 4-1 with in a league. Check it out at twitter.com/MartinFSNielsen/status/1688650552358400001

12 Sep 2023 | Why Kai Daze’d His Doomsday In Italy | EP.154 | 01:27:23
4Seasons Bologna is the cathedral of eternal Magic, where we practice our religion called Legacy. Returning from our third pilgrimage, the crew reflects on what was a very different experience this time around: all three of us were doing commentary during the European Legacy Masters, skipping Saturday's big side event for it...mostly, as Callum the madman was actually juggling both roles. Tune in for many stories of railbirded Win-and-In matches, and find out how UB Scam massively underperformed, and which flavors of 4c Control were dominating the top tables, along with some sweet Artifact spice!

10 Oct 2023 | ASK YOURSELF: Is Your Body Ready For Soul Cauldron? | EP.156 | 01:10:54
Kai just right onto the cast after a devastating run in his last league, and the rest of the hosts to what they were trained to in the face of such inadequacy. With that out of the way, we look at specifically why RUG Delver has been one of the most popular homes of Up the Beanstalk lately, and why we just can't get enough of that Canadian Threshold vibe in Legacy. Callum then unleashes the beast that is various, nefarious flavors of Agatha's Soul Cauldron and why your body needs to be ready for Phyrexian Devourer's scheduled, once-every-5-years hot week in the format!

27 Oct 2023 | The Best Deck MTGGodlfish Doesn’t Want You To See | EP.157 | 01:19:28
While Julian seems to be stuck in a slump, and Kai Top8s another tournament, Callum tests the physical boundaries of the format: born a meme, (almost) living the dream after a 4-1'ing a Legacy league, 14-Beanstalk Cascade is his new weapon of choice that turned out to be much stronger than expected. Grab the decklist below and find out whether Ardent Plea is right for you.
We also find out why all of us, and we mean ALL OF US, are resolving mulligans incorrectly, and why Julian thinks the rules might actually want to be changed because of it.
