Derek di Grazia: Derek, a competitor since 1968, began formally designing courses in 1986. In 2011, Derek embarked on his journey designing the LRK3DE course. Having won this competition in 1985, he brings a sense of understanding of the terrain. His course-building resume includes multiple distinguished courses including the Burghley Horse Trials and Tokyo Olympic course.

Jay Hambly: Jay has held the title of course builder for such events as the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, 2013 Central American Games and the 2003 FEI North American Junior & Young Rider Championships.

Mick Costello: Mick started his work in course building when he was 13 years old. In 1969 he found himself working on a huge 3-day with a group of people he called “The Big Guys” which included Derek who at 14, helped Mick out during the last few weeks of that event. He moved to KY in 1998 where he started his work with the Kentucky Three-Day. Mick’s experience includes many great courses such as Fair Hill, Radnor and Pebble Beach in addition to the LRK3DE.

Tyson Rementer: Tyson started building jumps at Pleasant Hollow Farms in Quakertown, PA. In exchange for lessons, board and entry fees, he would build jumps and other farm work including bailing hay, cleaning stalls, feeding and turnout. He settled into that role full-time in 2003.

Levi Ryckewaert: Levi has eventing in his blood. Growing up in Belgium he worked on a horse farm where his father was a three-day eventer and organizer. Course building began for Levi in 1993 and in 1999 he moved to England to work on the Badminton Horse Trials.

He has researched extensively in the areas of negative energy balance, metabolic status and subacute ruminal acidosis, publishing approximately 70 scientific publications. His research interests include equine nutrition, development of high output grazing systems for milk production, dairy herd health and the prevention of production diseases by nutrition, nutrition and metabolic status of the early lactation cow, nutrition and fertility, nutrition in the dry period and protein metabolism of dairy cattle.

From the start of his riding journey on 2 cheeky ponies, Rosie and Posy, going to an Olympics and then a life-changing fall, Jonty Evans has been through it all.

He joins Nicole to chat through his eventing journey, his wonder horse Cooley Rorkes Drift and his Paris Paralympic hopes.

Jonty has been competing internationally for Ireland for more than twenty years. 

In 2015, he helped lead the Irish team to the nation's first-ever Irish FEI Eventing Nations' Cup victory in the Boekelo Nations' Cup. In 2016, he went to the Rio Olympics with Cooley Rorkes Drift to finish 9th individually. 

In 2017 the owner of Cooley Rorkes Drift (Art) decided to sell him so Jonty set up a crowdfunding initiative to buy him. It was a massive success and Jonty bought Cooley Rorkes Drift with the help of crowdfunding.

On 3 June 2018, during the cross-country at Tattersalls, he suffered a serious brain injury from a fall and has had to learn to walk and talk again.

He now has his sights set on competing at the Paris Paralympics.

It's the last European CCI4* of the 2017 season! Diarm, Jenni and Nicole agree that Michael Jung and La Biosthetique Sam FBW's late entry into Pau makes them a virtual lock for the win. But there is still PLENTY to discuss, including past French winners Astier Nicolas and Maxime Livio, who will look to block Michi from finally taking a win at Pau, which has eluded him thus far in his storied career.

Diarm has been championing Jonelle Price and Faerie Dianimo as winners for a month now, and Nicole looks to Shane Rose and CP Qualified, who have have already won at the CCI4* level. Jenni can't betray her love of French wine and casts her vote for the home team.

It's been a big week in France, as Le Lion d'Angers also hosted the FEI World Breeding Championship for Young Horses, so be sure to listen for a discussion on the most exciting 6- and 7-year-olds coming out of the field this year. Diarm sends his condolences to Tom Carlile, whose incredible FOD run at Le Lion ended due to the #COD.
