18 May 2020Disney Fairytale Weddings00:36:30

Hello and welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, where we discuss anything and everything Disney.

This week we’re getting married. Okay, we’re not. That ship sailed a while ago. We mean Disney weddings!

With the release of Disney’s Fairytale Weddings on Disney+, it got us thinking a few things:

1. It’s soooo ballin’ to get married in Disney!

2. Could Rafiki officiate my wedding!?

3. What on earth do these things cost?

Okay, mostly the last one. And dang...you’re going to be blown away by these prices! Let’s just say you better have a fairy godmother to bibbidi-bobbidi-boo you some serious caaash.

And, of course, one thing leads to another and suddenly we’re planning a Star War’s fan’s biggest dream wedding in from of the Millennium Falcon complete with emo guest Kylo Ren and Stormtroopers doing the robot.

Thank you so much for joining us week after week! You’re amazing!

18 Jul 2022Disney’s Biggest Flops: John Carter00:56:35

Hello and welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, where we discuss anything and everything Disney. But before we jump into the main topic, it’s time for a little Disney News!

After bringing back the Main Street Electrical Parade at the beginning of summer, Disneyland will be ending it on September 1.

Rumor has it that Disney is considering an afternoon entry for annual pass holders.

And in EPCOT, there’s a new Beauty and the Beast show on Spaceship Earth for Food and Wine Festival.

This week, we’re talking about one of the biggest Disney movie flops of all time: John Carter.

Based on a 1912 serialized story turned book, the 2012 sci-fi movie was plagued with difficulty since its inception. We give a lot of this history, discuss its source material, and then finally, give our opinions on the movie.

Why did it fail?

We think there’s too many reasons to name here, so you’ll just have to listen to find out!

As always, thank you so much for listening! Don’t forget to check us out on Facebook and Youtube or submit a question/topic for us to discuss on a future episode or support us on Patreon.

08 Jan 2024WestCOT: The Unbuilt Disneyland Expansion00:35:44

Hello and welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, where we discuss anything and everything Disney.

This week in Disney News, subscribers of Disney+ will be able to get a free Disney dining plan.

For all of the Figment fans out there, Festival of the Arts will feature a new Figment popcorn bucket this year which will certainly have you clamoring to EPCOT.

We have one question for you.

What if EPCOT wasn’t just in Disney World?

What if Disneyland had their own version? What would you call it?

Well, Disney almost called it WestCOT. This park was slated to be built in the early 90s until a number of factors got it cancelled.

So what was going to be in the park? Was it an exact copy and paste of the existing park? Where was it going to go? We answer these questions and much more, so give us a listen!

28 Jun 2021Director Kevin Lima01:31:43

Hello and welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast! Do we have a treat for you today! We interviewed Kevin Lima, director of A Goofy Movie, 102 Dalmatians, and Enchanted. And co-director of Tarzan. If that sounds impressive to you, wait until you hear what he had to say!

This week in Disney News, Disney revealed all of the wonderful events that will be taking place throughout their 50th celebration including a new light show that's sure to be illuminating, dancing animal kites, and interactive character statues.

Disney also announced their selection of Rachel Zeglar as their new Snow White for the upcoming live-action adaptation.

Finally, Scarlett Johansson will be producing the new Tower of Terror movie.

It was a huge honor and privilege to talk to Kevin Lima this week, who had one of the most interesting and inspiring tales we've heard to date. During our interview, Lima talks about his origins from his hard childhood to his passion for drawing to his "never say never" attitude that started at a young age. When things didn't go his way and Disney hired nobody from his graduating class, he took lemons and made lemonade, moving to Taiwan to work for a company on Brave Little Toaster. But, eventually, Disney did start hiring again, and he got to go work for the company during the very beginning of the Disney Renaissance.

His confidence and positive attitude eventually landed him the gig as director of A Goofy Movie, a movie that he wasn't necessarily chomping at the bit to direct, but turned into a labor of love. Eventually, Lima switched from directing animated to live action movies. We also learned some of the difficulties of the movie business and being a director. Lima was a fantastic well of information and also motivation.

Thank you again, Kevin, and thank you for listening. If you're new to the podcast, don't forget to subscribe and leave a rating. Have a magical week!

13 Feb 2023Date Night Ideas at Disney World00:37:04

Hello and welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, where we discuss anything and everything Disney. Before we jump into the main topic, it’s time for a little Disney News!

The big news this week came out of the Disney’s investor call. They will be restructuring the company into 3 divisions. With that, they’ll be cutting 7,000 jobs. And then surprising news of 3 sequels dropped including the one we predicted all the way back when the D23 Expo happened: Frozen 3.

With Valentine’s Day right around the corner, we started to ponder, “What would a date in Disney World look like?”.

This week we answer that very question. Where can you go with your partner, what can you do, and even what can you wear to have the most romantic date?

And we answer the nagging question, “Which Disney World park is the most romantic?”. Then we wrap it all up with what would be the nicest full-day date we could think of.

21 Sep 2020You Can Only Keep One: Disney Renaissance Edition00:33:33

This week in Disney news we discuss the new show all about the Animal Kingdom coming to Disney+.  Plus, Chris Hemsworth says he isn’t done with Thor and we couldn’t be happier!

We've already shared how tough it is to rank the Disney Renaissance movies in Episodes 116 and 117. To stay on topic, this week we do another round of You Can Only Keep One with things from the Disney Renaissance. Our choices are:

Tarzan, Aladdin, or Mulan

Hercules, Beauty and the Beast, or The Little Mermaid

Genie, Timon and Pumbaa, or Mushu

"Be Our Guest," "Friend Like Me," or "I Just Can't Wait to Be King"

"Can You Feel the Love Tonight," "A Whole New World," or "I Won't Say I'm in Love"

and finally, all of the movies scored by Alan Menken vs. each other (that's 6/10 movies!)

We surprised even ourselves with our answers! What did you say? Did you have a family dinner discussion over it? We certainly did!

Thanks for listening as always and have a magical day!

This will be followed shortly after by the NBA who will play from the end of July until mid-October.   Lastly, Artemis Fowl released on Disney+ at the end of last week.   This week, we talk about Space Mountain. We go over a brief history, it's spread into the other other Disney Parks, and how it varies from park to park. Then we get into the nitty gritty and compare the original 2 Space Mountains.   We finish by declaring our undying love to the best Space Mountain of all.   Thank you for tuning in. 02 Mar 2020Changing of the Guard: Disney's New CEO00:40:38

Holy cow, this was a crazy week! Soooo... today’s episode’s all news, all the time!

First off, did you see the Back to the Future deep fake starring Robert Downey Jr. and Tom Holland!? It’s crazy how well these two fit into the film and look like Michael J. Fox and Christopher Lloyd! We brainstorm some deep fakes (we’d like to see as remakes) we’d love to see made starring MCU actors.

We love EPCOT, buuut when Spaceship Earth closes May 26th, unless Ratatouille is open by then, there may not be much of a point to going there. Almost the whole front of the park is getting refurbished right now!

And with Mardi Gras just passing, it seems Dr. Facilier may have worked his voodoo magic in the Magic Kingdom. Several rides this week seemed cursed and sank/crashed!

And lastly, in an abrupt turn of events, Bob Iger announces the sun has set on his time as Disney’s CEO and risen with Bob Chapek. What does this mean for the company? We discuss implications, concerns, and excitement.

Thanks for lending us your ears. Stay tuned for some new material we’re working on. We think you’re going to love it!!

14 Mar 2022Best Attractions in the Magic Kingdom00:42:37

Hello and welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, where we discuss anything and everything Disney.

This week in Disney news, some interesting news came out of the shareholder meeting that doesn’t seem to bode well for the near future of the parks.

Speaking of the parks, the ride vehicles over at Tron Lightcycle are on track and moving to push/pull testing. Also, pictures of Guardians Comic Rewind are out.

DCA Food and Wine festival going on. Mac and cheese is a magical food that you can’t possibly mess up, right? Well, they may have found a way with their peanut butter and jelly mac and cheese. We can’t begin to imagine what that tastes like.

This week, we pick our favorite Magic Kingdom attractions and get some help from other Disney podcasters/YouTubers. We go land-by-land and say what our must-ride is as well as our overall favorite ride in Magic Kingdom.

A special thanks to Chris and Emily from Happiest Hour on Earth Podcast, Krystal from The Krystal Palace YouTube, James and Ash from Disney Dependent Podcast, and Josh from Modern Mouse Youtube. Be sure to give them a watch/listen.

And thank you for listening! Have a magical week!

23 Jan 2023Dopey Challenge Trip Recap01:09:55

Hello and welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, where we discuss anything and everything Disney. Before we jump into the main topic, it’s time for a little Disney News!

Disney’s 100th Anniversary food has been revealed and as usual, it looks pretty good. But the big story is the poison apple mug and the Mickey Mouse sipper.

The new Donald Duck Restaurant in Shanghai has opened and features the cutest duck in all the lands.

Lastly, when Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway opens in Disneyland, you’ll have to join a virtual queue to ride like most other new attractions in the Disney parks.

This week we give our trip recap of Marathon Weekend. We discuss crowds, what we did (ate a lot) and didn’t do (ride a lot), how the races worked, the highlights of both running and spectating the races, and the Dopey Challenge.

We had a total blast and put pretty much no pressure on ourselves to do much of anything besides run, eat, and enjoy ourselves which made for a delightful trip.

As always, thank you so much for listening! Don’t forget to check us out on Instagram,  Facebook and Youtube or submit a question/topic for us to discuss on a future episode or support us on Patreon.

31 May 2021Disability at Disney Founder Gray Houser00:41:28

Hello and welcome back to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, one of your top (ten?) favorite podcasts. Number one Disney one though, right?

This week in Disney News, Matterhorn Mountain’s at the precipice of opening...okay not really, but the pun was nice, right?! It’ll be opening on July 2nd.

Over in Disney World, the Grand Floridian will be opening up more rooms to DVC members.

And in least welcome news of the week, the animatronics in the Three Caballeros ride in the Mexico pavilion are fixed just in time for us to go down to Disney and not get to make fun of the cardboard cutouts.

This week we're delighted to share our interview with Gray Houser, the man behind Monorailnews.com and Disabilityatdisney.com. Gray does a fabulous job at both reporting the latest and greatest Disney news and helping other people with disabilities get around at Disney. He shares some of his tips and tricks with us and tells the crazy story of how he, while at Disney World, lost total vision in his left eye. (Let's just say that Disney handled the whole situation with the aplomb and expertise you'd only expect from...well...Disney.) This episode gives us the warm and fuzzies because Disney really goes to infinity and beyond in ways that many don't even understand.

Thank you again to Gray for being on the show. Be sure to check out his websites monorailnews.com and disabilityatdisney.com for more about him, Disney, and how to navigate Disney if you yourself have a disability or you'll be traveling with someone who does.

03 May 2021Ranking the Countries in EPCOT00:37:58

Welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, your favorite place for all kinds of Disney information and tomfoolery.

This week in Disney news, the Disney Wish recorded presentation was released this week, and let’s just say, we’ve never wanted to go on a cruise so bad in our lives. (Oh and destinations do not matter...it’s that cool.) Everything looks incredible from the shows, to the attractions, to the dining experiences.

Disney released its special food items for May the 4th, and they look out of this world! Hopefully, you’ll be in the parks in the next few days though because their availability is extremely limited.

Also, Disneyland, after being closed for well over a year, finally reopened its gates on April 30th!!! It was beautiful to watch the cast members line Main Street as the guests walked in.

This week we rank the 11 countries in EPCOT based on a number of categories. Food, as always, is discussed as well as the shows, shopping, architecture, and overall experience.

Thanks again for joining us! Have a magical week!

15 Aug 2022Adventures by Disney Portugal Trip Recap01:19:05

Hello and welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, where we discuss anything and everything Disney. Before we tell you all about our Adventures by Disney trip to Portugal, it’s time for a little Disney News!

While we were gone, a lot has happened. San Diego Comic Con for one, which had a few major announcements. The biggest of these was that Daredevil will be getting an 18 episode first season on Disney+. The biggest absence of an announcement though was regarding phase 6 of the MCU, which we assume will be reserved for D23.

Tokyo DisneySea debuted its new night show “Believe! Sea of Dreams” which replaced Phantasmic and features projection mapping on the Hotel MiraCosta.

Disney also had its earnings call. The parks are making money, but the streaming services are losing money. During the call, we learned that on December 8th, Disney+ will increase its cost $3 if you want to continue to watch your content ad free or you can continue to pay $7.99 but will have to watch with ads.

Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party stared on August 12. New this year is a Max Goof wearing a Powerline costume.

Phew! That was a lot of news!

Okay, we’re ready to dig in to our Adventures by Disney trip to Portugal. Adventures by Disney is essentially group travel with a pre-set itinerary and the Disney-level of service. The Portugal trip begins in Porto, then moves to the capital city of Lisbon and finishes up in the Algarve.

In this podcast, we discuss our favorite parts of the trip, our least favorite parts of the trip, the value of having the guides vs booking it yourselves, and give you a step by step of the experience. Then we candidly tell you whether or not we think it was worth it.

When doing a trip like this, it’s easiest to book through a travel agent since there are a lot of little things you need to do ahead of time. We always book through Becky Ginther at Castle Dreams Travel. Check her out at beckyg@castledreamstravel.com.

14 Dec 2020Disney Investors Day Announcements00:47:57
Because a 4 hour long investor's meeting can't be boiled down into the News segment of the regular podcast, this is an extra magical BONUS episode! (Now imagine fireworks and pixie dust exploding into the air around you!)   Holy cow, did we learn a LOT by watching this meeting, it's difficult to even know where to begin with a highlight reel for this description. SOOOO, I think the most appropriate thing for us to say is this: there's a WHOLE LOTTA content coming to Disney+ over the next several years. Not only is there a lot, but it all also sounds like quality IP that people are elated about. From a Chip and Dale's Rescue Rangers live-action movie with the likes of John Mulaney and Andy Sanberg to everything under the sun MARVEL to a whole lotta Star Wars spinoffs. Like everything.    So tune in and learn about/hear our take on all of the announcements that were made.   Check us out on Facebook and Youtube or submit a question/topic for us to discuss on a future episode or support us on Patreon.
02 Aug 2021Disneyland 2021 Trip Recap01:22:34

Welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, where we discuss anything and everything Disney! This week we talk about our trip to Disneyland! But before we dive in, let’s talk Disney News!

Masks are back indoors at the Disney locations after new cases of COVID are surging.

The other big news this week is that Scarlett Johansson is suing Disney over an alleged breach of contract.

We were lucky enough to get to travel to Disneyland a week or so ago, so this week we talk all about that trip! We talk about what we ate, what we rode, where we stayed, and who we saw. (Hint…we were in Disneyland at the same time The Jungle Cruise was premiering!!!! Someone big and bulky may have just been a stone’s throw away.)

Thank you for listening this week and if you’re looking to travel to Disneyland (or Disney World) any time soon, don’t forget to contact our friend, Becky Ginther at Castle Dreams Travel. Email her at beckyg@castledreamstravel.com. Tell her Enchanted Ears sent cha!

01 May 2023The Best Places to Eat in Disneyland00:40:32

Hello and welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, where we discuss anything and everything Disney.

Walt Disney announced a big fitness initiative. We’re most excited about the new pickleball courts!

Plus, is Disney developing an Encanto musical for Broadway?

Food is important. As Disney World people, we're constantly trying new restaurants and returning to old favorites.

But what about Disneyland?

What are the best and most highly-rated places to take a load off and enjoy a nice treat or meal?

During today's episode, we take a deep dive into the world of Disneyland food and end up with some unexpected questions.  Like why does Disneyland seem so reasonably priced or should Disney just serve Dole Whip at every restaurant to boost guest ratings?

So join us on this culinary adventure as we undercover everything from the best places to eat on Main Street to where the ideal spot to unwind with a cocktail in hand is at in DCA to the character dining we would rather order off of the kid’s menu.

17 Apr 2023Keep, Update or Replace: Hollywood Studios00:45:49

Hello and welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, where we discuss anything and everything Disney.

A few additional things came out of the Star Wars Celebration that give us the feels. A Gaya album will be dropping on May 4th. On the not-so-great news front, The Bad Batch will get a third and final season next year.

We did Animal Kingdom and had so much fun, we decided to play Keep, Update, Replace: Hollywood Studios.

We assess some of the most popular and, let’s face it, unpopular rides in the park. And we even got your opinion on the matter using a poll on our Instagram @enchantedearspodcast.

What should be done with Muppet Vision 3D, Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular, Slinky Dog Dash, Rise of the Resistance, Tower of Terror, Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster, Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway, Millennium Falcon Smuggler’s Run, and the Frozen Sing Along Celebration?

We think some pretty big changes need to occur to revive the tributes to movie magic while also teaching the next generation what amazing possibilities exist with a little spark…of inspiration. Some other big changes, in the form of locking restraints, might be needed if Frozen gets Angela’s suggested update to keep Joe from charging the stage to meet a Disney (and cultural) icon.

24 Oct 202210 Reasons to Love Hollywood Studios00:26:47

Hello and welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, where we discuss anything and everything Disney. Before we jump into the main topic, it’s time for a little Disney News!

Disney increased their ticket prices roughly 8%. Genie+ prices are going up as well.

And finally, FINALLY we have an opening date for Fantasmic, and it’s not that far away! November 3 one of the best shows in Disney World will be coming back!!!

We've talked about why we're so enchanted by the Magic Kingdom.

We’ve reveled in the majesty of Animal Kingdom.

We've salivated over EPCOT.

Now it's finally time we showcased Hollywood Studios.

But why do we love Hollywood Studios? Is it because it's the only park that's undergone a name change? Because it has an old-timey, ritzy feel to it? Because it houses the most diverse selection of rides? Because of the shows? Or is it because of all of this and more?! Listen in to find out!

06 Dec 2021Disney‘s Planned Ski Resort00:32:31

Hello and welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, where we discuss anything and everything Disney.

This week in Disney News, people are doing a happy dance now that Disney's announcement that parking trams are coming back to the Magic Kingdom in Disney World.   And also, Amy Pascal, the producer of Spider-Man, said they're actually working on another Spider-Man trilogy with Tom Holland. Yay!!!   Whoosh! That's the kind of noise you'd expect to hear as Walt Disney flew past you on the slopes, and the sound you might expect to have heard at Disney's Ski Resort.   Yes, you read that right, Disney almost built a ski resort in California. We discuss the plans to create a whole town that included a hotel, movie theater, ice rinks, golf course, dining, lifts, and eventually what put the kibosh on those plans.   It's pretty impressive that the matter of the Mineral King resort actually went all the way to the Supreme Court of the United States...hint, that's not actually what stopped the plans though!    Thank you so much for listening!  Have a magical week!   Check us out on Facebook and Youtube or submit a question/topic for us to discuss on a future episode or support us on Patreon.
02 Oct 2023Are WDW Deluxe Resorts Worth It?00:28:54

Hello and welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, where we discuss anything and everything Disney.

Disney may have just changed how we all watch sports with a Toy Story simulcast of an NFL game this week.  Too bad no one told us about it before it happened.

Have you ever wanted to go to Disney World, but struggled to pick an appropriate hotel for your visit?

Maybe you wanted to splurge for a Deluxe hotel, but also wanted to have money to spend elsewhere.

Maybe you questioned which hotels could get you to the parks the fastest.

As many Disney-goers know, Walt Disney World boasts an impressive number of hotels…sometimes too impressive. And there are three levels with their own price ranges. This week, we answer the age-old question “Is it worth staying in a Deluxe hotel?”

This week we discuss each level, price ranges, our thoughts on some of the specific hotels, and then try to help you narrow down the best ones for you and your family.

The answer to the “is it worth it” question is far more complex than many people would think considering the multitude of factors that should play into your decision. And surprisingly, the Deluxe hotels aren’t always the “best” choice, even if money isn’t a concern. Listen in and we can help you narrow your choices so you find the right hotel for you in the right price-range!

Hello and welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, where we discuss anything and everything Disney.   This week our Disney News is short and sweet. "We Don't Talk About Bruno"...but...it's now the biggest Disney song since "Colors of the Wind" and is currently at #4 on Billboard's Hot 100 List.    Test your Disney song knowledge as Angela plays the first several seconds of the Disney songs with the most iconic openings (determined by her limited memory and preference) and Joe tries to guess what the songs are. Will his Disney card be revoked? You'll have to wait and see, but Angela may be looking for a new co host next week.    Thank you again for listening as always. Don't forget to check out the Enchanted Ears Podcast page on Facebook at EnchantedEars or our Instagram @enchantedearspodcast. 01 Jun 2020Disney World Reopening Plan00:42:47

Hello and welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, where we talk anything and everything Disney.

This week is all news as we discuss the reopening of Disney World after its closure from Covid-19. We address all of the pertinent questions like what dates will the parks reopen? Will there be parades? Fireworks? Can I book a new trip? What about my existing trip? And much much more.    Another main point of this episode is to discuss any upcoming Disney trip you may already have planned. In fact, to be honest, we'd have to say that this episode then turns into a pseudo Is it worth it? It's definitely worth hanging around until the end as we discuss what we're doing (or not doing) about our current trip we have planned for August.   One final note: remember that as we all start going back out into the world that it's important to actually see each other. We've all developed a new appreciation for fast food workers, grocery store workers, nurses, etc in the midst of this pandemic. It's not over, but we're hopefully moving toward normal. Still, let's take what we learned during this time and remember that everyone's human and dealing with similar issues. Treating each other with love and respect would certainly be magical.     And if you're an essential worker, thank you from the bottom of our hearts.   There's a lot going on right now and information is still being released at a steady rate, so we'll do our best to answer any questions you may have in future episodes.    Check us out on Facebook and Youtube or submit a question/topic for us to discuss on a future episode or support us on Patreon
04 Oct 2021The Best Themed Land at a Disney Park00:42:24

Hello and welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, where we discuss anything and everything Disney.

This week in Disney News, Disney definitely heard Angela complain about there not being enough new food offerings for the 50th so overnight, they created 150 new food items to serve.

Disney also announced MagicBand+, a new magicband for the 50th that has interactive features and lights up!

For those of us who couldn't be at the 50th celebration, Disney also streamed Harmonious and Disney Enchantment!

And finally, we got our first peaks at the Galactic Starcruiser as well as an opening date! Let's say we're both cautiously optimistic.

This week, we power rank the different lands of Disney. In this list, we've included the newer lands developed for Disneyland and Disney World: Pandora, Galaxy's Edge, Toy Story Land, Cars Land, Avengers Campus, and Pixar Pier.

We approach ranking them by examining the attractions, food, atmosphere, architecture, and our overall favorite. We definitely were surprised with our results!

When you're finished listening, be sure to head on over to our Facebook page, Enchanted Ears, to let us know how you'd rank the lands.

Have a magical week!

13 May 2024Springtime Surprise Race Recap00:57:24

Hello and welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, where we discuss anything and everything Disney.

We’re Halfway to Halloween and Disney gave us a first look at some new merch plus dates for the Halloween parties on both coasts.

This week, we look back at our (very brief) trip to Walt Disney World for Springtime Surprise Weekend.

Even though it was a short trip, we got to experience a lot of firsts - including checking some restaurants off of our bucket lists.

Plus we cover just how incredibly wrong our guesses, for which characters would be at the race, actually were.

31 Aug 2020Over/Under Rated: Tokyo DisneySea Edition00:44:37

This week in Disney News, we pay tribute to Chadwick Boseman. Boseman passed away on Friday from colon cancer. Known for his roles as Jackie Robinson in 42 and Tchala in The Black Panther and other Marvel movies, Boseman's powerful portrayal of strong, proud, wonderful black men helped tell the stories of people too long kept in the shadows. He helped give representation to the underrepresented. He will truly be missed.

It's hard to now talk about other Disney news, but there is some, so I guess I'll move forward. Mulan will be released on Disney+ in December, just 3 months after when it'll be out on streaming services to be purchased for $30. We discuss how we think this will impact its performance.    Also, Disney has a new Haunted Mansion reboot movie in the works with writer Katie Dippold, who (most notably for me worked) on the glorious show Parks and Rec.   Lastly, Disney announced that despite canceling Mickey's-Not-So-Scary-Halloween Party, they're still decorating, having special character cavalcades, making special desserts, and letting ADULTS WEAR COSTUMES!!!! Just go to Disney any time between September 15 and October 31 to experience this awesome opportunity!

This week we continue our Overrated/underrated series. As per the norm, we look at the amazing website touringplans.com and use their rating system of 1-5 (one being exceptionally bad to five being amazing) to determine what rides we think are too hyped and which need to receive more love. We go far, far away to Tokyo DisneySea this time.

We struggle a bit with the difficult task of trying to find overrated rides in what’s an exquisitely done park. We flourish and actually agree a lot on many of the rides that are underrated.

How is it possible that a roller coaster gets a 1? Should a carousel be ranked higher than a 2.5? Is the ride with the most buzz worth waiting 1.5 hours? We’ll answer this and so much more!

Thank you for checking us out this week! Don’t forget to leave us a rating and review. It helps us keep doing this and reach a larger audience. Also, if you know someone who loves Disney and likes podcasts, send them a link to our podcast. The more traction we gain, the better we can make this! You guys are awesome!!

20 Feb 2023Magic Kingdom Must Do, Should Do, or Skip00:47:19

Hello and welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, where we discuss anything and everything Disney. Before we jump into the main topic, it’s time for a little Disney News!

Reservations for Hollywood Studios newest restaurant open up on February 21.  Plus, Disney released footage of the upcoming World of Frozen expansion at Hong Kong Disneyland and we are absolutely IN LOVE with the updated Elsa animatronic.

In our main segment, we cover our picks for the must do attractions and Magic Kingdom, plus the ones you can totally skip!

Basically we end up gushing about how much we love Haunted Mansion (I mean who doesn’t?!?) and then Joe makes some picks that may lose us a few listeners.

Also a big shout out to the Happiest Hour on Earth podcast, the Market House podcast and Abby @disneyadventuretime for adding their picks to this week’s episode.

Hello and welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, where we discuss anything and everything Disney.

Today’s episode is brought to you by The Cheesecake Factory.

Okay, not really. We aren’t getting those kinds of bucks from this pod, but when you listen, you’ll get the age-old question, how did The Cheesecake Factory make us talk about DisneyQuest this week?

If that isn’t enough to draw you in, you can learn all about this sort-of failed Disney concept that lasted a respectable 20 years when our beloved Starcruiser didn’t even last 2!

As always, thank you so much for listening! Have a magical week!

28 Nov 2022Bob Iger’s CEO Again. Now What?00:44:58

Hello and welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, where we discuss anything and everything Disney. This week it’s all news.

We’re not going to beat around the bush. Chapek is out as CEO. Iger is back in. What does this mean for the company!?

According to some reports, in last earnings call streaming lost more than anticipated and the parks didn’t make as much as expected, but Chapek didn’t act like there was much wrong. Is that what triggered the end?

We also talk about Iger’s rereorganization of the company, how we think the change will impact the psyche of Pixar, and the impact on the 100th and movies in general.

Lastly, Iger won’t be back forever, so who will be his new pick as his replacement? We speculate about the choices.

25 Jul 2022Best and Worst Queues in Walt Disney World00:38:14

Hello and welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, where we discuss anything and everything Disney. But before we jump into the main topic, it’s time for a little Disney News!

Avengers Campus at Disneyland Paris opened!

Magic Band+ will finally come out on July 27th!

And the water at the Jungle Cruise in Disneyland was turned pink! No, not for a strange early celebration of Valentine’s Day, but for cleaning!

What makes a good ride queue? A bad one? This week, we consider these questions and discuss some of the best and worst queues in Disney World.

As always, thank you so much for listening! Don’t forget to check us out on Facebook and Youtube or submit a question/topic for us to discuss on a future episode or support us on Patreon.

28 Oct 2024The History of Halloween in Disney Parks00:35:38

Hello and welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, where we discuss anything and everything Disney.

We finally have a date for when parts of Dinoland will start closing for its conversion to Tropical Americas. Plus Big Thunder Mountain at Magic Kingdom is getting a year long overhaul and Brooks announced a major partnership with RunDisney.

Seeing as it’s Halloween this week, we are discussing the history of the holiday in the parks.

Plus, what sounded like a good idea at the time, we show up in costume.

While Halloween is big business at Disney now, it wasn’t always that way.  In fact, most of what you know and love about Halloween time in the parks came around within the past 20 years.

Welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, your favorite place for the latest Disney News and discussions on other Disney-related things.

This week in Disney News, because of park closures, you can head over to shopdisney.com to purchase the limited edition park pins.

For this episode, we dive into talking about the 1984 movie Splash, starring Tom Hanks and Daryl Hannah. In the movie, a mermaid (Daryl Hannah) comes to live in New York in order to have a fun-filled six days with legs and her old/new love, Alan Bauer (Tom Hanks). Despite its many issues, the movie was highly successful and you can watch it on Disney+.

The behind the scenes information is more interesting than the movie itself. Many of the actors and director have gone on to have lucrative careers.  And the tale behind the mermaid tail is one of perseverance and triumph. So if you like fun behind-the-scenes talk, this is the episode for you!

Thank you for joining us. We hope you and your families are doing well! ❤️

27 Jan 2020Duel of the Fates: What Episode IX Could Have Been00:47:09

Hello and welcome to your (favorite) Disney podcast! We’re super excited for you to hear our topic this week, but first, the news!

FastPasses for Smuggler’s Run are finally here, and with that comes an overhaul of Hollywood Studios FastPass system. Don’t worry, we think you’ll like the changes. 😉

And, what’s this?! The Declaration of Independence? No! Benjamin Franklin Gates already stole that and unlocked its secrets, BUT he may be up to his shenanigans again in a rumored new National Treasure movie.

Drumroll please.... This week we’ll be discussing Colin Trevorrow’s leaked script and the concept art that goes along with his dead Star Wars film that was eventually replaced by The Rise of Skywalker called Duel of the Fates. (Ballin’ title...we know.)

In the leaked information, we learn many of the plot points of this movie that shines in the pits of the never-to-be-made movie graveyard. These points include Rey’s new double-sided staff, maintaining that Rey is a nobody, Kylo Ren as the ultimate big bad, and Kylo’s lightsaber battle with Darth Vader. Ummmm...what made Lucasfilm say no to this?!

We discuss the impact of this now defunct story on the Skywalker saga as a whole and how it would’ve fit into the already established movies (spoiler alert...it would’ve fit MUCH better).

Thank you again for listening this week and don’t forget to check out the Banter? I Hardly Know Her Podcast. They’re the real deal! Have a great week!

24 Apr 2023Our Top Disney Core Memories00:48:59

Hello and welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, where we discuss anything and everything Disney.

Animal Kingdom turned 25 this past weekend! It’s wild to think that in our very first episode ever, we commemorated the 20th anniversary!

350 cabins at Fort Wilderness are getting replaced by more modern cabins and the restaurant, and potentially getting a new restaurant, since Trail’s End Restaurant is closed.

And the Maleficent dragon at Disneyland caught fire during a show last week, which forced them to shut down the Fantasmic show for audience safety.

It’s our 250th episode extravaganza, and because of that, we’re going Inside Out to talk about our Top Disney Core Memories.

We cover our trips to international parks, the many Adventures we’ve had, and the friends we’ve made along the way.

Also, Angela reacts to the fact that Joe’s #1 Disney memory is sans her. Can you believe that!? (It’s a pretty good memory though.)

Thank you to all of the listeners who have supported us throughout these five years! It’s been so great to have you along for the ride!

21 Aug 2023MCU World Cup00:56:26

Hello and welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, where we discuss anything and everything Disney.

Sorry! Last week we accidentally said Springtime Surprise signups were last week and while we weren’t totally wrong, we weren’t totally right either.

Tiana's Palace will be opening September 7.

There will be New Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Cartoons coming in 2025 with Duffy!

With the World Cup ending yesterday, we decided to do a World Cup-esque Marvel bracket. With 32 Marvel movies and 32 teams in the World Cup, it worked out perfectly!

There are definitely a lot of heavy hitters, teams that were projected to go far, and even a Cinderella story or two!

Which movie scored the most in our hearts and created the best, most memorable experience?

Which movies don’t quite make the cut?

Listen and you’ll hear Chris and Angela’s picks. Who is Chris you say? Listen and you’ll see!

09 Mar 2020Guess the Movie Quote00:37:50

This week in Disney News, Disney opened the first attraction to feature Mickey and Minnie.  We discuss how Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway compares to Disney’s other trackless ride attractions.

Plus, the Flower & Garden Festival kicks off this week at EPCOT.

This week, you can play along as we challenge each other in a game of guess the movie quote. Each of us has gathered 10 quotes from some of the biggest live action Disney movies to date and the other person tries to guess which movie the quote is from. We had a blast recording this and hope you have a blast listening!

Thanks for listening and supporting us. You all are amazing!

05 Apr 2021Disney Decade: The 2010s00:41:27

Welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, your place for anything and everything Disney. This week we finish (for now) our series Disney Decade with 2010-2019. But before we get into that, let’s get to the news!

Food and Wine starts early this year, going from July all the way to November.

The cast for Obi-Wan Kenobi was announced and includes has some awesome names attached to it like Kumail Nanjiani, Sung Kang, and O’Shea Jackson Jr.

Also, the new Bamboo Bar and Patio opened at Splitsville in Disney Springs.

This decade was definitely one of the most prosperous in Disney’s history. Bob Iger led Disney through some massive acquisitions of Lucasfilm and Fox. Marvel explodes at the box office, which then seems to feed into all Disney properties owning the box office by the end of the decade. Many of the parks also go through massive improvements and new a new park even opens! If this was the 2020s, we could’ve called this the Roaring ‘20s. The Roaring 10s doesn’t have quite the same flare. Oh well.

Thanks for tuning in. Share this podcast with your friends, relatives, and that person at work that you struggle to talk to.

And as always, have a magical week!

16 Mar 2020Guess the Song Lyric00:31:31

Hello and a big welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, your place to get some stress-free Disney-related entertainment.

We kept Disney News short and sweet because honestly, we don’t want to talk about it and you’re probably sick of hearing it. All Disney Parks around the world closed due to the Coronavirus pandemic. Everyone stay safe and stay in.

This week, play along as Angela and Joe (to a lesser degree) guess the missing Disney song lyrics. This may be one of our funniest episodes to date. If guessing song lyrics wrong was an Olympic sport, Joe would be sporting the gold medal. 🤣

Thanks for tuning in and lending us your ears. Stay well and love each other.

08 Feb 2021History of "I'm Going to Disney World"00:29:40

Hello and welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, where we discuss anything and everything Disney.

This week in Disney news, Black Panther director Ryan Coogler signs a 5-year deal with Disney. He and his company Proximity Media will be helping with new content for Disney+, including a Wakanda series!

Also, in Park news, Tomorrowland Terrace, Lunching Pad, and Westward Ho are going to be closed Monday-Thursday through March 8th, but open for the weekends.

Since the Super Bowl was yesterday, we thought it would be appropriate to talk about the fascinating origin of the Super Bowl MVP saying, “I’m going to Disney World” after winning the big game.

You probably won’t be surprised to learn that the statement isn’t an organic thing that just gets said every year, but instead is a marketing technique. However, you may be surprised to learn the idea cropped up at a dinner with Mike Eisner, Jane Eisner, George Lucas, Dick Rutan, and Jeana Yeager. Rutan and Yeager had just completed the first astounding successful non-stop, non-refueled flight around the world. Rutan joked all that was left to do was go to Disneyland, and an idea was born.

During this episode, we talk about how the idea got off the ground, when this all started, how much the MVP gets paid to say it, and much more!

Don’t forget to leave a review on iTunes and snap a picture of it to share on our Facebook page. We’ll be drawing one lucky winner on Friday to receive our coffee prize package of a Disney tumbler and Expedition Roasters coffee.

Plus, all this month receive 15% off your order from Expedition Roasters with the code "Enchanted"

31 Oct 2022The Magic of the Haunted Mansion00:35:40

Hello and welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, where we discuss anything and everything Disney. Before we jump into the main topic, it’s time for a little Disney News!

Blizzard Beach will be reopening November 13. Plus, it’ll have some new additional Frozen theming.

A few new movie trailers came out this past week: Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special and Ant Man: Quantumania.

James Gunn has signed on to co-run DC Film Studio, meaning he’s done with Marvel.

And finally, Doctor Who is coming to Disney+ in 2023!

This Halloween, we’re getting creepy and talking about what we love about one of Disney’s scariest rides: the Haunted Mansion.

The Haunted Mansion has so many awesome Easter eggs and cool factoids, a richness of interesting, original characters and an awesome atmosphere that has so many returning to ride it over and over. Join us in memorializing this ghoulish, ghastly, and galvanizing ride by tuning in!

As always, thank you so much for listening! Don’t forget to check us out on Facebook and Youtube or submit a question/topic for us to discuss on a future episode or support us on Patreon.

07 Dec 2020Pitching Movies Based on Original Attractions00:27:22

Hello and welcome to this wonderful and wacky podcast where we discuss anything and everything Disney!

This week in Disney News, Disney released more new merch connected with their 40 year partnership with Make a Wish. Currently, you can buy royal blue merch to show your support. If you need some stocking stuffers, if you buy the Aladdin Wishables (Aladdin, Jasmine, Genie, the Lamp, and Magic Carpet) 100% of the proceeds go to Make a Wish.    In this fun episode, since The Jungle Cruise is getting its own movie, we brainstorm additional Disney rides that we would like to see movies made for. These rides include Space Mountain, Figment, Expedition Everest, Mission Space, and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. For some, we have general themes and for others, we have some pretty well fleshed-out ideas. If you have any other ideas for rides that would make great movies or just want to pitch a movie for one of the ones we mention in the podcast, hit us up on social media at Enchanted Ears on Facebook, enchantedearspodcast on Instagram, or try just yelling your ideas at us from the nearest mountaintop. I doubt that last one will be very effective, but it'd sure be funny!   Have a magical week!   Check us out on Facebook and Youtube or submit a question/topic for us to discuss on a future episode or support us on Patreon.
14 Sep 2020Covering Disney with Carlye Wisel00:53:22

Hello! It's so good to theoretically see you here! Welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, your place for anything and everything Disney.

This week we'll jump right into the main topic. We interviewed theme park reporter, Carlye Wisel, who has written many ballin' articles for little tiny names like Travel+Leisure, Business Insider, and SyFy Wire. Just kidding obviously. Carlye is smart, funny, and super kind, so it's no wonder why she's achieved such success.

In our interview, we discuss such hot topics as popcorn, cuz, I mean, who doesn't love Disney's popcorn? We talk about Adventures by Disney. Yes! We found someone who has actually gone on one and LOVED it! We talk about how she got into writing about Disney, her favorite places to eat, her famed accomplishment of attending 3 Disney openings in one day, and much more!

We had an absolute blast talking to Carlye! Check out her articles and her new podcast Very Amusing! (which I just got is a pun...wow) anywhere you get your podcasts. As you'd expect, she does some hard-core reporting and digs out some really interesting facts about the parks!

Thank you Carlye and to you listeners! Have a magical week!

09 Sep 2024Opening Day: Disney-MGM Studios00:52:09

Hello and welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, where we discuss anything and everything Disney.

This week, Disney announced of the closure of a beloved Hollywood Studios attraction . . .Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy.  The show will be closing to make way for a new Villains show debuting next year.

Who knew a theme park about Hollywood would have so much DRAMA?

Disney-MGM Studios (now Hollywood Studios) opened back in 1989 as the 3rd park at Walt Disney World, but unlike its predecessors, its history is filled with lawsuits and corporate disputes.

Plus its mere existence may have single handily started the Theme Parks Wars with Universal Studios.

So join us as we look back at what guests experienced on the park’s opening day and how drastically it’s changed since then.

17 Jul 2023Battle of the Attractions: WDW vs. Disneyland00:45:19

Hello and welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, where we discuss anything and everything Disney.

Bob Iger’s contract got extended through 2026.

And a new Turduckin hat has been released in EPCOT that Figment fans will fawn over.

Our episode this week is sort of a double-feature.

We briefly talk about our short Disney trip before we did the Galactic Starcruiser and holy cow was it really awesome!

We actually had a lot of Disney firsts like riding Tron Lightcycle Run, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, and getting to see a warthog get some dental work.

After that, we move on to our main topic of the week, Disneyland vs Disney World Ride Comparisons. We stack 10 rides and attractions up against each other from both coasts and see which one is better.

So which Pirates of the Caribbean comes away with the booty?

Which Haunted Mansion would we rather inhabit?

And which would win in a race for our hearts: Test Track or Radiator Springs Racers?

Tune in and see!

30 Mar 2020The History of the Disney Institute00:23:15

Hello and welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast! We’re so happy you’re here with us and hope you’re well.

We don’t have any Disney News this week because...well...nothing’s happening. But, we’ve been trapped inside so long, Joe’s hallucinating that the tigers have a king now.

This week, we’re so excited to talk to you about the Disney Institute, a program for self-improvement that has had many forms and a singular function over the years: to educate and enrich the people who attend.

The Disney Institute used to be a physical place you could go and take classes in a wide array of topics. At one point, you could even bring your whole family! Find out what they had to offer, where it was, and how it still exists today by listening to the episode.

Thank you so much for your listenership. We appreciate you and hope you’re making the most out of this time at home with family. Take care of each other. We love you guys.

30 May 202210 Reasons to Love Animal Kingdom00:29:28

Hello and welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, where we discuss anything and everything Disney.

This week in Disney News, Avengers Campus in Disneyland Paris will open July 20. It looks very similar to the one in Disneyland, but they have extra food options. And the restaurant Stark Factory has Hulkbuster armour!

Garsh! Happy 90th birthday, Goofy!

There are some big changes to Galaxy's Edge in Disneyland! They’ve decided to break the timeline (Galaxy’s Edge is supposed to be between Episode 7 and 8). Boba Fett and Fennec Shand are already in the park. In the future, Mando and Grogu will be appearing.

We also got a preview of some new merch coming to the parks including new lightsaber parts and Ashoka ears.

Animal Kingdom is a beautiful park, but we often hear that people skip this park if they’re limited on time. This week, we give you a list of 10 reasons why we love Animal Kingdom.

How many places can you view a spectacular bird show, ride amazing thrill rides, see kites crash, and learn how to draw all while avoiding the crowds?

So grab a churro and settle in for our celebration of everything AK.

09 Oct 2023What’s Next for the Galactic Starcruiser?00:45:50

Hello and welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, where we discuss anything and everything Disney.

This week in Disney News, Disney announced a discounted ticket for Disneyland and Disney World for children.

Also, Disney announced the narrators for the Candlelight Processional with big names like Neil Patrick Harris, John Stamos, and Simu Liu.

Disney has hinted that the Galactic Starcruiser Hotel may be closed, but something new is in the works.

This week, we discuss new avenues they may pursue with the venue.

So will people ever be able to stay there again possibly?

Will Disney mimic some of Universal's more recent additions and use the Starcruiser to host these added experiences?

Could it be used for a shorter experience or even a highly-themed show of some sort?

We share our thoughts, how we see the various options playing out, and the likelihood these things could actually occur.

Be sure to swing by our socials and let us know what you think may happen. While you're there, be sure to enter our contest to win cool prizes we picked up while on our last voyage.

13 Mar 2023Dopey Challenge Dos and Don’ts00:43:16

Hello and welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, where we discuss anything and everything Disney.

This week in Disney news we discuss what the recent cuts to the Galactic Starcuiser’s schedule could mean to it’s future and get totally sidetracked by the Philadelphia Flyers mascot while discussing some epic Daredevil: Born Again casting.

Plus, you’ll soon be able to get a Dole Whip anytime you want.

Some people may call it stupid to wake up at 2:45 am for 4 days in a row to run 46.6 miles, but Disney calls it Dopey.

And with Marathon Weekend sign-ups fast-approaching, your 3rd and 10th favorite podcast hosts (we all know which of us is your number 3) compiled a lists of Dopey training Dos and Don'ts that you can use to determine if you want to run and what to do to once you inevitably decide to follow Master Yoda's advice, "Do or do not, there is no try."

Your training program, race meals, and attitude along with a lot of other factors will determine how good of an experience you have. But some things will definitely hold you back like eating foods your stomach doesn't digest well (hello Port-o-potty) and thinking that one missed run will ruin your whole training program.

Plus, take it from us, if you run with a prop, you better try it out or you'll probably be forced to litter in front of the Castle. Oops!

As always, thank you so much for listening! Have a magical week!

04 Apr 2022A Brief History of RunDisney00:31:28

Hello and welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, where we discuss anything and everything Disney.

This week in Disney News, well…we don’t have any seeing as we’re recording this in advance! So insert some Disney news here of your choice.

Since this past weekend was the Springtime Surprise Race in Disney World, we thought it would be fun to discuss the history of runDisney.

It started more recently than you probably thought and has had an interesting growth trajectory over the past 30 years.

Did you know there used to be an inline skating marathon? How about that the marathon and half marathon used to take place on the same day? What about the fact that Disneyland Paris is the only international Disney park with its own race?

We share the timeline of runDisney and other fun facts in this shortish episode.

Also, don’t forget with our 200th episode approaching faster than we approach the finish line at a runDisney event that we want to answer your questions! Head on over to http://enchantedears.com/podcastquestion and to leave us a question and your email for a chance to win a $25 Disney gift card.

Have a magical week, friends!

26 Apr 2021Running Coast to Coast with Don Muchow00:52:31
Welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, where we talk about anything and everything Disney. This week we were honored to chat with Don Muchow, the runner and Type 1 Diabetic who recently completed his transcontinental run across the US that went through both Disneyland and Disney World! But first, we had a bit of Disney News.   The People Mover reopened this week after it's lengthy closure! Even Stitch had to give it a ride!   Also, the king is returning! The Festival of The Lion King actors have begun rehearsing to resume their live shows!   And in our last bit of news, the Matterhorn will be joining the string of Disney rides that have their own movie/TV show!    Running across the United States is quite a feat (no pun intended), so when we heard about Don, his cause, and how he wove both Disney Parks into his journey, we knew we had to talk to him! We ask Don about his incredible mission, planning his trip, mapping his course, the hardest part of it all, how covid impacted his run, how often he had to refuel, how many pairs of shoes he went through, what it felt like to run into Disney World to a huge celebration (and not getting kicked off the property!), and much, much more.    Don enlightens us about so many things. Did you know that Disney collaborated with another company to create a Type 1 Diabetes mascot?! And, through Don, we learn what true grit, determination, and dedication to a cause and purpose look like.    We really appreciated Don taking the time to talk to us, and we appreciate you for taking the time to listen! If you'd like to learn more about Don, his mission, or how to help folks living with Type 1 Diabetes, please check out his website at t1determined.org   Check us out on Facebook and Youtube or submit a question/topic for us to discuss on a future episode or support us on Patreon.
06 Jul 2020The Adventurers Club00:48:55

This week in Disney News, Disney announces they're redoing Splash Mountain after some public pressure due to its ties to the movie Song of the South. It'll be rethemed as Princess and the Frog and it's actually been in the works for about a year.

Also, Disney announces their park reservation system.

We're so excited to talk about the Adventurers' Club this week, which used to be a club in what is currently Disney Springs. It was a magical place where actors, props, and the atmosphere would immerse you in the world of an explorer...oh and it was December 31,1937 every day. That's right, every night culminated in a beautiful New Year's Eve fireworks spectacular!

We go into the details (because this club was all about the details) that were involved in making this experience what sounds like a full-on joyride from when you came in to when you left. This includes one of the highlights of the Adventurers' Club experience, actors that were masters at improv and would converse with guests and star in stage shows. To fill out the experience more, there were talking animatronic heads, puppets, and unique traditions that would make you believe for a night that you were part of a vibrant secret society.

Sadly, this club closed down in the 2000s. Listen to find out answers to questions like: What caused the club's downfall? Is there any portion of the club that lives on today? For more information, please check out the amazing video and article by reviewtyme and wikipedia, which we used as our source.

We hope you're staying safe and well!

05 Dec 2022Galactic Starcruiser 101: Everything You Need to Know01:33:43

Hello and welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, where we discuss anything and everything Disney. Before we jump into the main topic, it’s time for a little Disney News!

This week in Disney News, the Splash Mountain redo is moving ahead with more images coming out this past week. Splash Mountain is set to close at Disney World on January 23, 2023.

You can now cancel your dining reservations up to 2 hours before without incurring a charge.

Lastly, a new Enchanted director’s commentary with Kevin Lima is on Youtube now. It’s designed to be synced up to the movie to give you a peek behind the scenes of many of the facets of being a director of one of the best Disney live-action movies of all time!

Good journey!

Over Thanksgiving break, we had the pleasure of going to the Galactic Starcruiser Hotel in Disney World.

So this week, we’re going to have 2 episodes. This one’s our Halcyon 101 crash course. Our second one will be a deeper dive into our experience. So enjoy this spoiler-free episode and if you’re curious, you can listen to the second episode later this week that’s rife with spoilers!

24 Jun 2024Is Disney Losing Its Magic?00:47:14

Hello and welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, where we discuss anything and everything Disney.

This week Disney Cruise Line released some special voyages for late 2025, early 2026. Plus Disneyland made an announcement about the return of a fan favorite Holiday overlay.

It seems like nowadays that a lot of people are talking about how Disney parks have lost some of their magic.

But is that really true?

We’re on the case to get to the bottom of this question.

Sure, there is a lot of evidence that the magic is gone - from the loss of free FastPass and Magical Express to the increased complexity of navigating a Disney Vacation - but all of those criticisms center around one place, Walt Disney World.

So we’re here to tell you that the Disney magic is alive and well, you’re just looking in the wrong place.

31 Jul 2023Disney’s Biggest Mistakes00:57:54

Hello and welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, where we discuss anything and everything Disney.

We start off this week by discussing the good news and bad news about Fantasmic over at Disneyland. Plus more restaurants at Disneyland are going to serve alcohol in September.

Imagineers have created some of the most immersive lands and attractions at Disney parks, but what happens when their vision misses the mark?

From budget cuts to disco balls to trying to make classic attractions “relevant” we count down the worst and shortest-lived attractions at the Disney Parks. And if you thought the Galactic Starcruiser didn't last long, there are a few on this list that didn't even last ONE YEAR!

Plus we get into a heated debate about whether the Tiki Room should run a Boy Band karaoke show.

Come with us into your imagination as we explore Figment, a dragon character created for the Journey into the Imagination ride in EPCOT We discuss Figment’s origins, the tumultuous history of his ride, and his current popularity at Epcot because of the Epcot Forever show.

01 Jul 2024Why Disney Needs Another Animation Studio00:54:48

Hello and welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, where we discuss anything and everything Disney.

Disney released some major news this week that it will be getting rid of Genie+ and replacing it with Lighting Lane Multi Pass and Single Pass, which is basically a way for them to move to a paid FastPass system.

Disney Animation and Pixar have struggled connecting with audiences lately and the number of sequels coming out has us worried if we’ll ever see meaningful, original stories again.

Disney needs a way to release original animated movies without the high expectations that come with Pixar.

Luckily they can look back at their own history for a solution.

29 May 2023AI Movie Summaries00:32:01

Hello and welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, where we discuss anything and everything Disney.

Scott Lange’s memoir, Look Out for the Little Guy, a fictional book in Ant Man is going to become real.

Plus, Josh D’Amaro dropped some interesting park news at a recent investor conference.

And in our main segment, we ask, “What if Disney+ used ChatGPT to write their movie descriptions?”

Joe used the AI chatbot to create overly simplistic descriptions of Disney movies, and Angela tries to guess them.

The struggle’s real in this one as Angela grapples with the AI’s vague wording and hopes after seeing her results, the listeners don’t kick her off the show.

All the while, Joe fights with his tongue’s resistance to pronouncing the word enigmatic.

As always, thank you so much for listening! Have a magical week!

04 Sep 2023Destination D23 Dream Announcements00:39:33

Hello and welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, where we discuss anything and everything Disney.

The Journey of Water with Moana is getting closer to opening and we discuss the early reviews.

Plus, the Haunted Mansion over at Disneyland is going to be undergoing some changes in 2024.

This week, in response to two listener questions, we talk about our dream D23 announcements for the 4 Walt Disney World parks and also what a Disney Villains theme park would look like.

We have a blast blowing the doors off of the budgets and opening up the world of possibilities without Marvel ownership issues in parks, revamping the Avengers Campus, adding on to Galaxy's Edge, going a little wild in Animal Kingdom, and then allowing Maleficent to shine with her own castle.

What Disney could do with the villains is incredible. Letting these baddies have their own castle, parades, lands, rides (MAKE ESCAPE FROM ELEPHANT GRAVEYARD ALREADY DISNEY!), and eating establishments would add a fun richness to the parks.

Everyone has a little bit of the dark side in them, so embrace it with us this week and tune in!

Thank you so much Zac and Rich for the excellent questions! Keep them coming!

03 Feb 2020Over/Under Rated: Animal Kingdom Edition00:39:16

Sooo...it’s the day after the Superb Owl and we’d like to formally congratulate the 49ers or The Chiefs! Yay! Someone’s going to Disney!

This week in Disney News, the stuntronics are almost ready and a new Spider-Man stunt show at DCA will be the first opportunity we’ll have to see these live and in action.

Also, Disney makes progress in their never-ending crusade to remake every animated classic. They announced a live action Bambi movie.

Also, in exciting and curious news, Owen Wilson joins the cast of the sure-to-be-a-hit Loki show on Disney+.

This week we continue our series of picking the most overrated and underrated attractions at various parks according to touringplans.com. This week we tackle Animal Kingdom, which we quickly realized has some of the best attractions of any of the parks.

Joe makes a few unpopular picks, and I nearly fight him over it. Luckily, we make it out with our marriage unscathed.

Let us know what you think and if we missed talking about any rides that are underrated or overrated.

Thanks for lending us your ears. Catch you next week!

15 Mar 2021WandaVision & Raya and The Last Dragon00:53:37

Welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, your place for Disney news, deep dives, and hot takes. This week we have a good one for you, but first, let’s get to that news! There’s a lot of it.

In tangental to Disney news, Universal Studios announced they will be resuming construction on the new theme park called Epic Universe.

Disneyland will be reopening late April to California residents.

Unfortunately, Remi won’t be opening until October 1st for the 50th anniversary.

Finally, Magic Mobile was announced, an app for your Apple Watch that’ll take the place of your Magic Band (if you so please).

This week is SPOILER HEAVY as we talk about our opinions of Wandavision and Raya and the Last Dragon.

We start with Wandavision. (Time stamp 10:44). We talk about some of the many theories that tied the series to the comic books, our thoughts, what worked, what didn’t work, and how we see it playing a role in the MCU as a whole.

Then we finish with Raya and the Last Dragon (Time stamp 32:28). We discuss how stunning it was in many aspects, but also what it lacked that made the movie fall short for us of recent classics like Moana and Zootopia.

Thank you so much as always for listening. Have a magical week!

05 Jun 2023Keep, Update or Replace: Magic Kingdom00:39:22

Hello and welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, where we discuss anything and everything Disney.

The dining plan is back and officially bookable for your 2024 vacations!

Disney also released more concept art for the Pixar Place remodel at Disneyland.

Today, we’ll tackle the last Disney World Park, Magic Kingdom, in our ongoing series: Keep, Update, Replace.

Should Disney keep Haunted Mansion?

Would it be a good idea to replace Jungle Cruise?

Would a staged alien invasion be the solution to the eternal issue that is the Hall of Presidents?

And should Tomorrowland become an ever-lasting world’s fair with different company booths that rotate out every few years? We answer these pertinent questions and more!

04 Nov 2024Best Rides & Dining with Only 4 Hours at Disney World00:49:09

Hello and welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, where we discuss anything and everything Disney.

Just as you can count on the leaves changing for Fall, you can count on Disney World to raise ticket prices.  This week Disney World announced price increases for all levels of their annual pass.

But hey, at least they also announced Satu’li Canteen is going to start service breakfast. So we guess it isn’t all bad.

We’d all love to spend the whole day in the parks, but what if your time was limited?

Maybe you only have a few hours.

Well you’re in luck, because on today’s show we’re walking through our perfect day at each Disney World park if we only had 4 hours.

What are the must ride attractions?  The shows we would prioritize? The food we would eat?

Plus, if you are feeling adventurous and want to try the 4 park challenge we offer our tips and tricks for making the most of the experience.

24 May 2021Ranking The Worst Disney Villains00:35:00

Hello and welcome to the Enchanted Ears podcast, where we discuss anything and everything Disney.

This week in Disney news, Disney Paris finally receives an opening date! Hooray!!! Also, the new Disney’s Hotel New York- The Art of Marvel is set to open this year.

The Avengers campus food looks incredible over at Disneyland in California! We can’t wait to go and get the Cosmic Creme Orb and the Impossible Victory Falafel! Also, the new Spiderman ride Web Slingers will be selling merch that can be used in ride. Smart, Disney. Take our money now.

This week, we talk about the worst, as in not very good, Disney villains. Which villains fall just a little bit short of being intimidating, well thought out, or just bot fitting that mustache-twirling evil villain that were so used to. Please let us now on social media (Enchanted Ears on Facebook and enchantedearspodcast on Instagram) whether you agree or disagree, and let us know which villains we missed. 13 Nov 2023The Greatest Star Wars Characters of All Time00:51:01

Hello and welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, where we discuss anything and everything Disney.

This week in Disney News, the trailer came out for the new Marvel Disney+/Hulu show, Echo, came out this past week. This show has some interesting changes and we discuss how it could impact Marvel’s approach going forward.

Plus new Halloween-themed RunDisney races were announced in Disneyland.

With 12 feature-length films, countless books, several animated cartoons, and four live-action series on Disney+, it's fair to say that Star Wars is MASSIVE.

So we thought it would be fun to pick our current Top 5 characters of all time in honor of Life Day on November 17. If you didn't guess, it was very difficult to whittle it down to just 5. So who will come out on top?

Will the Dark Side prevail on our lists, or will the Light Side vanquish evil?

Or, more likely, will we possibly achieve some measure of balance in the force?

Tune in and find out!

Plus, we discuss the GORGEOUS update coming to the Disneyland Hotel in Paris.

Then in our main segment, we live like there’s no tomorrow and craft our Disney bucket list.

Disney has so many incredible experiences to offer from world adventures to Club 33 to the Cinderella Castle Suite, but which ones will make our list?

29 Mar 2021Destino: A Disney Collab with Salvador Dali00:34:16

Hello and welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, your favorite place to learn about the things you love and discover (hopefully) things you didn't know you will love. This week, we may have one of the latter for you, but first, there's quite a bit of news to cover.

A while back, we learned that Disney would be changing The Jungle Cruise to make it more suitable for the times we live in. Last week, they announced that part of this change will be a new character named Alberta Falls (granddaughter to Albert Falls). She will be the owner and proprietor of The Jungle Cruise and, of course, has connections to SEA.   There was quite a bit of movie news so here. we. go. Black Widow was pushed back yet again to July and will be available as a premium rental on Disney+. Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings was pushed back as well. Also, Luca, Pixar's next film, will be released on Disney+ just as Soul was: absolutely free.   Lastly, Disney announced Disneyland Forward, a project that will rezone their existing property to allow them to expand the shopping, restaurants, and rides at Disneyland in California.    This week, we're so excited to talk about "Destino" a short collaboration that was over 50 years in the making and allowed two of the greatest artistic visionaries of their time to create a beautiful work of art together. If you didn't already know, "Destino" is a project that was worked on by both Salvador Dalí, the famous surrealist painter of "The Persistence of Memory," and Walt Disney. It's available to watch on Disney+, so if you have a spare 6 minutes, be sure to check it out. Everything about this short, from the final product itself to how it finally got made, to Disney and Dalí's legendary first meeting is interesting so sit back, relax, and let us tell you a story.   Thank you as always for tuning in. 10 Aug 2020Skipping the Lines with Len Testa from Touring Plans01:14:00

Hello and welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast! This week we're going to get straight into it because do we have quite an amazing podcast for you!

This week we interviewed Len Testa, president and creator of touringplans.com, coauthor of The Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World, and one of the two hosts of the Disney Dish podcast. Yeah...we know...super impressive, right?    For the majority of the podcast, we talk about touringplans, a website that helps you to create the best plan to get you through the park on any given day. It gives you actual wait times of the rides and allows you to save your valuable time. You may also recognize it because we use touringplans' ratings for our Overrated/Underrated episodes.    We talk to Len about how he originally conceived of the idea, what common mistakes people make when planning their day, what the parks have been like since reopening, what he feels is touringplan's most overrated and underrated rides, his favorite restaurant, etc.    We had such a fun time talking to Len, and we appreciate his time and candor. Please check out all things Len if you haven't already.   Have a fabulous week, everyone!   Check us out on Facebook and Youtube or submit a question/topic for us to discuss on a future episode or support us on Patreon
19 Jul 2021Is Disney Too Expensive?00:33:46

Hello and welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, where we discuss anything and everything Disney. After some recent news regarding added costs at the parks, we’re going to discuss whether Disney’s getting too expensive.

Recently, Disney’s announced many changes that benefit guests who are willing to spend even more for their Disney experience. These changes include evening magic hours for deluxe and DVC guests, random character meet and greets in DVC hotels, and Disneyland Paris new FastPass system called Premier Access. We discuss the pros of these changes, but also the not-so-glamourous side of what’s definitely Disney trying to recoup their losses and make some green.

In our discussion, we also talk ticket prices of today compared to the past, prices compared to Universal, and cutting annual passes at Disneyland.

Thank you as always for taking us with you wherever you are.

Have a magical week!

19 Sep 2022Why D23 Was a Disappointment00:53:22

Hello and welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, where we discuss anything and everything Disney. Before we jump into the main topic, it’s time for a little Disney News!

Our favorite Disney World show, KiteTails, will be taking off for its last flight on September 30. Why Disney!? Why?!

And also, Disneyland Paris will be selling up-cycled bags from the tarp that covered the castle.

D23 is Disney’s biggest hype-invoking event held every 2 years in Anaheim and showcases all the big Disney News from what new rides will go into the parks to what movies are getting made to what shows will be coming to Disney+.

Since it took place over last weekend, this week, we’re discussing Disney’s biggest announcements and maybe more notably, what news didn’t come out of it.

As always, thank you so much for listening! Don’t forget to check us out on Facebook and Youtube or submit a question/topic for us to discuss on a future episode or support us on Patreon.

04 May 2020The Aristocats00:30:17

Hello! Welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, where we discuss anything and everything Disney!

This week in Disney News, Disney’s announced they’ll be remaking their 1997 animated classic, Hercules. Dispute our mixed feelings over the remakes, we’re actually really excited to see how they update this one!

This week, we talk about a group of 50-year-old cats...okay, you caught me. That was a bit salacious. What I meant to say is that this week we talk about the 1970 classic Aristocats, which turns 50 this year.

Despite some shortcomings, Aristocats is a wealth of Disney history and interesting fun facts. Who would’ve guessed it’s loosely based on a true story? Did you know O’Malley was originally supposed to be a tabby cat? Learn about this and more! (This feels a little infomercially...but wait, there’s more! 🤣)

When you finish listening, head on over to our YouTube channel to check out our content there. We do informational videos, but we also play games and share experiences with lots of visuals. When we hit 100 subscribers, we’re going to hold a competition for a prize, so be sure to throw your hat in the ring.

We hope you’re well and have a magical week!

19 Dec 2022Greatest Disney Moments of 202200:43:41

Hello and welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, where we discuss anything and everything Disney. Before we jump into the main topic, it’s time for a little Disney News!

Disney released their platinum 100th anniversary merch.

Over at Trader Sam’s at the Polynesian, they’ve released a limited-edition José mug that seems guaranteed to set off a Figment popcorn bucket-like fervor.

Lastly, the new restaurant over at Hollywood Studios, Rodeo Roundup BBQ, will open in a spring of 2023.

In this last episode of the year, we do our year-end review of 2022.

What are the best things to happen this year?

We talk about the Starcruiser, Disney+ content, and the return of Bob Iger among a few other things. We also have a few predictions about next year.

Have a happy holiday season and see you next year!

As always, thank you so much for listening! Don’t forget to check us out on Instagram,  Facebook and Youtube or submit a question/topic for us to discuss on a future episode or support us on Patreon.

23 Aug 2021Disney Genie+ and the Death of FastPass00:55:37

Hello and welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, your place for anything and everything Disney. This week, we scrapped our main topic in favor of Disney News because (plays "Taps" in the background) Fastpass is dead. Disney's "new" app and system to replace it is confusing and complicated, so we explain it during the episode.

Disney Genie is an app for helping you plan out your day. It'll give you estimated wait times, provide a place to mobile order, help you get in line in virtual queues, and assist you in planning out your day. It basically has the same functionality as the My Disney Experience App.   So not that complicated right? Wrong.   You can also purchase Genie+ to help you jump the lines on many rides or further, purchase access to Lightning Lanes to get on the top tier attractions. So how do you do it? What's included? Do you need Genie+ to get Lightning Lanes?   We answer it all in this podcast, while also talking about what we think the impact of these decisions will be. Should people really be mad? What do we think, if done correctly, the impact on the lines will be? And what's the biggest issue with all the changes that people are missing?   There's so much to unpack, and we appreciate you being here with us for it! Please, feel free to send us any additional questions on our Facebook page EnchantedEars. We'll answer them on a future show.   And as always, have a magical week!   Check us out on Facebook and Youtube or submit a question/topic for us to discuss on a future episode or support us on Patreon.
11 Nov 2024Disney+ 5 Years Later: Was It Worth It?00:55:08

Hello and welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, where we discuss anything and everything Disney.

Disney Cruise Line announce that their newest ship, the Disney Adventure, will have not one, not two, but three attractions including their first ever roller coaster at sea. And if we weren’t excited before, we are now.

It’s hard to believe that it’s been 5 years since the launch of Disney+.

Back then, it was seen as a great value in the world of streaming with access to the entire Disney vault for the low price of $6.99/month.

And while it launched to great fanfare (and the debut of the Mandalorian) it’s been a bit of a roller coaster ride since.

So this week we take a look back at the history of Disney+ and the shifting strategies Disney has taken to try and make it profitable.

25 Dec 20232023 Predictions Recap00:28:15

Hello and welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, where we discuss anything and everything Disney.

This week in Disney News, the Voyage of the Little Mermaid in Hollywood Studios will not be returning, and will instead reopen in Fall 2024 as Little Mermaid: A Musical Adventure.

Also, when changes come on January 9th to park hopping in WDW, virtual queing will change as well.

Over in Disneyland, the Magic Happens parade will be returning shortly after the new year along with Wonderous Journeys.

2023 was a pretty good year, but maybe not for the crystal ball we borrowed from Madam Leota.

In this episode, we recap our going-into-2023-predictions for Disney News. Although we definitely did NOT get some things right, like Disney World finally picking a retheme for the Dinoland section of Animal Kingdom, we were able to peek into the future in some small ways. See our very obvious prediction about Bob Iger’s contract extension.

So give us a listen and hear about the year in review coupled with a few small predictions for 2024 and beyond.

11 May 2020Shanghai Disney Reopening - What This Means for the US Parks00:36:43

Hello and welcome to another delightful episode of Enchanted Ears, where we discuss anything and everything Disney.

This week, we sort of flip the script a little and jump right into what’s on a lot of people’s minds right now: when are the parks going to reopen. Shanghai reopens today, so we discuss the measures being taken to protect park goers. Then we speculate how other parks will follow suit if all goes well.

In News, you know it’s been a few years without a Pirates of the Caribbean movie, so we need to talk reboots. This time around, it seems they’re looking to press the restart button and revitalize the cast with a female lead (possibly played by Nebula actress Karen Gillan).

With the rock-solid lineup of writers and producers, this Pirates fan (who pretends the last movie never happened) is optimistic for a fresh revival.

Thanks as always for tuning in you magical beast, you! Have a great week!

28 Aug 2023Planning Your First Trip to Disneyland00:32:11

Hello and welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, where we discuss anything and everything Disney.

This week in Disney News, over in Tokyo DisneySea, we got more information on the Fantasy Springs expansion. With lots of new rides, eating establishments, and many beloved Disney properties, DisneySea is even more of a must-visit!

The Disney Treasure cruise ship announcements are coming soon! Members of the media got treasure maps last week revealing what might be included on the ship, and wow is it exciting!

When you're used to visiting Disney World, going over to Disneyland can feel a little bit like being a fish out of water.

This week, we discuss planning a Disneyland trip from a Disney Worlder's perspective.

What should you expect?

What kinds of tickets should you buy? For how many days?

Where should you stay?

What airport should you fly into?

What should you know about the nighttime shows? And is front row at World of Color a blessing or a curse?

We answer all of these and more!

15 Jul 2024Best Places to Eat at Disney World01:00:00

Hello and welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, where we discuss anything and everything Disney.

This week, a major sea change occurred in the world of Disney cruises when the Oriental Land Co announced they will operating Disney cruises out of Japan later this decade. Even without any other details we are ready to book our trip.

You’ve picked your hotel and purchased your park hopper tickets, but now comes the most important question - where are you going to eat?

Walt Disney World has hundreds of restaurants across the 4 parks, so determining the best place to eat can be a daunting task.

Luckily we have you covered!

This week we aim to steer you in the right direction by covering the top rated Quick Service and Table Service restaurants in each of the 4 parks and Disney Springs.

P.S. we aren’t responsible for how hungry you get while listening to this episode.

22 May 2023Are We in the Disney Dark Age?00:58:04

Hello and welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, where we discuss anything and everything Disney.

Our news this week is our main topic because it’s a shocker. Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser is closing.

That’s right, this cutting-edge, not-even-toddler-age endeavor will stop “taking flight” come September.

This week, we share our feelings about this. We also speculate why we think it happened, and contemplate the direction of the Disney company as a whole. We also share what we think Disney’s going to do with the Starcruiser after it closes.

In a moment of levity, Joe posits more accounting questions than most (or at least Angela) would care to know, and for you the valued listener, she steps in to prevent any sort of boredom-related sleep issues that could arise from too much money talk.

As always, thank you so much for listening! Have a magical week!

09 Nov 2020Guess the Character From Their Voice00:25:18

Hello and welcome to The Enchanted Ears podcast, the best place to be moderately entertained by a couple of people who are relatively knowledgeable about Disney and think they're funny.

This week in Disney News, Disney announced a new donuts shop, Everglazed Donuts & Cold Brew, is coming soon to Disney Springs.  Angela has some ideas for the theming plus we discuss a unique way to add a tie-in to a fan-favorite Pixar franchise.

Plus, we also discuss how Disney is getting one step closer to making West World a reality with their new human-like animatronic.

In our main segment this week, strap on your thinking caps and play along with me as we play, Guess the Disney Character By His/Her Voice. Joe will play a clip of a character saying a sentence or two and you (and I) will try to guess based on the voice and context clues alone. How many can you get out of 8? Be sure to let us know how you do in the comments on our social pages or in our Enchanted Ears Family Facebook Group.

16 Aug 2021You Can Only Keep One: Disneyland Edition00:58:45

Hello and welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, where we discuss anything and everything Disney!

Holy news this week! Buckle in!   We got our first look inside the new Space 220 Restaurant and wow does it look cool (and like it belongs inside Galaxy's Edge).    Speaking of previews, we got a peek of the music for EPCOT's new show, Harmonious. We joke about how we'll probably love it despite the amount of trash talk we've dished about the alien vessels in the middle of the lake.   And oh my...the pricing for the Christmas after-hours event at Disney World, uninspiringly named Disney Very Merriest After-Hours Event, has been released. You may be merry until you see the cost that is!   This week we do another rendition of "You can only keep one." This Disneyland Edition has us choosing between the most popular mountains, biggest attractions in DCA, best desserts, original rides, shows, and more! Let us know on our Facebook what you agree with and what we got totally wrong...we couldn't even agree with each other on some of them.    Have a magical week!   Check us out on Facebook and Youtube or submit a question/topic for us to discuss on a future episode or support us on Patreon.
22 Mar 2021Lost in Translation: Disney Quotes00:24:47

Welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, where we talk everything and anything Disney. We have yet another fun one for you this week, but first, Disney news.

It’s been a long time coming. Finally, Disneyland will be reopening to California natives only on April 30th. Huzzah!

The 100 year archives exhibition is coming to the Franklin Institute in Philadelphia. As people who really want to visit the Disney Archives, you best believe we’ll be heading over there to check that out.

Disney announced they’re working on a Magic Kingdom TV Universe (MKTU maybe?). In it, they plan to focus on the Society of Explorers and Adventurers (SEA).

We haven’t done a game in a while, so this week we decided to start a new game that we hope to turn into a series called “Lost in Translation.” In it, we use Google translate to take some famous Disney quotes from known to poor clone. Turns out, when you take even the most familiar quotes through 2 languages and back to English, the results can be hilarious and downright unrecognizable. So play along with us as we enjoy trying to crack these crazy word puzzles.

As always, thank you for listening in. Don’t forget to tell a friend about us and to leave us a review. You rock!

14 Nov 2022Is Black Panther the MCUs Best Franchise?00:48:50

Hello and welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, where we discuss anything and everything Disney. Before we jump into the main topic, it’s time for a little Disney News!

Disney announced their quarterly earnings report. It was interesting that the parks made record earnings and the Direct to Consumers division, which includes streaming, lost money. What’s their end game?

Disney announced what’s going on with the Disneyland Treehouse. It’s a reimagining of Walt’s original vision of the Swiss Family Robinson Treehouse.

Wakanda Forever was #1 at the box office making $180 million.

After going to see Black Panther this weekend, we started to consider the best franchises in all of Marvel. So this week, we pick the top three and bottom three of the franchises (not including Avengers).

So who will reign supreme: T’Challa, Thor, Ironman, Dr. Strange, Spider-Man, the Guardians of the Galaxy, Captain America, or Ant Man?

24 Feb 2020Is It Worth It? Galaxy's Edge Edition00:34:25

This week, in Disney News, Disney releases the 50th anniversary Cinderella Castle renderings. Let’s just say, there is a lot of gray, royal blue, pink, and gold which sounds like a cluster, but trust us, it’s fantastic.

Also, Disney gets more time to deliver the third Paris park per the agreement with France. Originally, they were to begin work in the next few years, but with all of the park improvements they’ve been making, they now don’t have to deliver the park until 2036.

This week, we do a Galaxy’s Edge edition of our recurring “Is It Worth It” series. We delve into such important topics such as lightsaber building, Oga’s cantina, building your own droid, whether or not to try the blue/green milk, and showing up an hour early to ride Rise of the Resistance. (Hint, most of this stuff IS worth it. Just what isn’t? You’ll have to listen to see.)

We also discuss the likelihood of Disney adding wallet-stealing droids to find an even faster way to siphon your money away from you. And there’s a Smuggler’s Run cheat code to reveal Chewie!? Yep. We even have a fabulous Chewie impressionist come on the show to tell us all about it in Shyriiwook.

Thanks for lending us your ears. We appreciate you and all you do! Have a fantastic week! Byyeeeee

19 Jun 2023Super Nintendo World Trip Recap00:56:49

Hello and welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, where we discuss anything and everything Disney.

Disney announced a new winter holiday celebration in Hollywood Studios called Jollywood Nights.

Also, a new Mickey short is coming called Steamboat Silly. Is this a play to keep the rights to Steamboat Willie?

This week is part one of our two-part trip recap to Universal Studios Hollywood and Disneyland.

This week, we’re talking Universal, and more specifically, Super Mario World. We answer all of your pressing questions.

Is it worth the trip from Anaheim?

What kinds of snags might you face when trying to get into the park?

And are the $40 power up bands necessary?

We also share our thoughts on the rides, minigames, and Express Pass. If you plan on going yourself, you’ll benefit from our mistakes and successes. Plus, we’ll let you know what to do and what you can skip, especially if you go to Universal in Orlando.

20 May 2024When is an Annual Pass Worth It?00:35:48

Hello and welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, where we discuss anything and everything Disney.

This week in Disney News, Bob Iger said all future investments in the park will be IP driven. He also confirmed Avatar will be a part of Disneyland expansion.

Also, the new nighttime drone show, Disney Dreams That Soar presented by AT&T, will be premiering at Disney Springs on May 24.

Those annual pass holder magnets sure look cool on the back of your car.

It’s very tempting to want to pay for one yourself, but the passes tend to be expensive, and not everyone is a short drive away from the Happiest Place on Earth.

All things considered, today we answer the age old question, “When is it worth it to buy an annual pass to Disney World?”

We go through all the types of annual passes including current prices, perks, and limitations. Finally, we tell you about how long you have to stay at Disney to make it worth the price for the most expensive pass (which is the only one available to non-DVC, non-Florida residents).

Thanks again for listening and your continuous support.

23 Sep 20242024 MNSSHP & HHN Recap00:56:47

Hello and welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, where we discuss anything and everything Disney.

Disney announced more details on the Story Living Community in California and it seems like they are making a play to capitalize on the aging Disney adult population.

Plus, Walt Disney World announced its lineup for this year’s Jollywood Nights.

We’ve officially entered Spooky Season and to celebrate we’re joined by our friends Jennifer and Keifer to discuss their recent trip to Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party and Universal’s Halloween Horror Nights.

Even though the weather didn’t fully cooperate, they still were able to check almost everything off of their to-do list.

Jennifer and Keifer come with all of the deets on the candy, shows and parades at MNSSHP. Then we head up the street to HHN, where they were absolutely blown away by the entertainment and quality of the houses and scare zones.

Everything sounded like so much fun, that now we’re even sadder we won’t be visiting Florida this Halloween season.  But there’s always next year!

24 Aug 2020Ranking the Disney Renaissance Part 201:23:19

Last week, we covered our favorite Disney Renaissance movies 7-10, so this week is Part 2, our top 6 picks of all 10 Renaissance movies. If you missed last week, be sure to check out that episode first! If you haven't listened to that, stop reading here. Just to recharge your memory, we ranked Pocahontas 7th, The Hunchback of Notre Dame 8th, The Little Mermaid 9th, and Rescuers Down Under 10th. In that episode we also explained that the Disney Renaissance is a group of 10 animated movies released from 1989-1999, which really helped to bring Disney back to the forefront of entertainment. This week, we have to battle it out with each other to put the movies in the "correct" order, and I'm still not sure we got it quite right. Some things we looked at to determine the top movies (because let's face it, they're all amazing movies) are music, character, storyline, setting, and voice actors. We certainly had our hands full! Also, again, we'd like to say a big thank you to some of our favorite Disney podcasters and bloggers for picking some of their favorites and explaining why they love them so much!! This was a fun few episodes to make and it wouldn’t be possible without you all and your amazing sound bites! Don't forget to subscribe and review our podcast. It helps us out massively. And tell a friend! Here's a sample of that conversation:

You: Hey, friend! How are you? Friend: Great, how are you? You: I'm great! I've been listening to this podcast a lot and it really adds some magic into my days! Friend: I could always use more magic in my day! What podcast is it? You: Enchanted Ears! Joe and Angela are pretty awesome. Be sure to check it out. 20 Jun 2022How to Fix Disney World00:43:44

Hello and welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, where we discuss anything and everything Disney.

This week in Disney News, the dates for the Oogie Boogie Dash were released. It will run on select dates from September 6 through October 31 from 6-11 pm.

Adventures by Disney announced a 24 day around the world trip that would bankrupt most people, but looks amazing!!

And lastly, Harmonious Live will be the first live event that will air on Disney+ on June 21 and showcase some amazing talent from all over the world.

Disney World is amazing. The atmosphere and excitement seem to permeate the air and inject even the most bleak days with a touch of magic. However, just because it’s amazing, doesn’t mean it’s perfect.

This week, we discuss 10 (with a few bonuses) vital improvements that Disney World should make right now. These improvements would help alleviate crowds, ensure people are well-fed and hydrated, and bolster overall customer satisfaction.

Hello and welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, where we discuss anything and everything Disney! Our Disney news is brief this week. We went to Disney over the weekend, so this has been recorded in advance! Our one shred of Disney news is that Disney Genie drops on October 19th.

We LOVE the parks so much, but the one big issue we see with them is the new properties are all but absent. This is, of course, for a number of awesome reasons. Still, this week we decided to play a little with incorporating Luca into the parks. We discuss where we think it would fit best and then how we would build it out. Let's just say that Luca fits in so perfectly, we couldn't help but give it multiple attractions and a restaurant.    Thank you so much for listening. If you have any suggestions of other properties you'd love to see in the parks, let us know on our Facebook, Enchanted Ears.   Have a magical week!   Check us out on Facebook and Youtube or submit a question/topic for us to discuss on a future episode or support us on Patreon.
17 May 2021Disney Legend Tom Nabbe Part 200:58:05

Welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, where we discuss anything and everything Disney. This week we’re honored and excited for you to hear the second part of our interview with Disney Legend, Tom Nabbe. But before we get to that, let’s talk about that all-important Disney News.

Since getting rid of annual passes when COVID hit, Disneyland hasn’t reinstituted the system. Instead, they’re starting a new punch card system (much like a froyo place) where you’ll get a reward after so many visits.

And over at Disney World, under the cover of darkness last Friday night, they removed the requirement to wear masks outside. However, you still must wear a mask entering the park, in lines, and on rides.

In this second installment of our interview with Tom Nabbe, we discuss Nabbe’s move to Disney World and his role on the Monorail. There were a lot of early issues and interesting specs Imagineers had to consider. We also talk about EPCOT of today vs. what Walt had in mind, Green Mail and Mike Eisner, getting his own window on Main Street, becoming a Disney Legend, how much merchandise Disney sells through in a day, and much much more!

Thank you so much for for listening. Please be sure to check out Tom Nabbe’s website and book From Disneyland's Tom Sawyer to Disney Legend: The Adventures of Tom Nabbe

Have a magical week!

23 Nov 2020Pixar's Origin Story00:43:11

Hello and welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, your one-stop-shop for anything and everything Disney.

This week in Disney News, park hopping is set to return to the parks January 1, 2021.

We also get a first look at a lot of new upcoming restaurants and attractions including the Star Wars Hotel.

To celebrate the 25th anniversary of Toy Story, this week we’re talking about the history of Pixar.

From not-so-humble beginnings with George Lucas to being owned by Steve Jobs, Pixar has had a fascinating trajectory. From its inception as the tech-division of Lucasfilm meant to sell software to being a multi billion (with a b) company that produces films that are beloved by generations of people, it’s been quite a wild ride.

Thank you very much for joining us every week on this wild ride of a podcast. If, for some reason this isn’t enough and you’d like to see more of us, check out our YouTube channel, Enchanted Ears.

Have a magical week, and Happy Thanksgiving!

07 Jun 2021Purchasing DVC Resale00:58:12

Welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, your place for anything and everything Disney! This week, we talk about Disney Vacation Club (DVC), particularly why we decided to buy in. If you're interested to learn more about DVC, check out episode 56, where we do a deep dive into what, exactly, DVC is.

But first, let's talk about that all-important Disney news.

Disneyland will be opening to out-of-state guests on June 15th! We can't wait to head there to check out the amazing new Avengers Campus.

Also, the pricing for Disney After Hours Boo Bash is out and man, Disney didn't pull any punches. The event is 2 hours shorter than Mickey's-Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, but it costs more!

Around January, we decided we go to Disney enough to make buying DVC through the resale market worthwhile. We talk about how we purchased, why we decided resale, which hotel we bought into, and how many points we settled on among some other things that might be helpful to you if you've ever considered buying DVC or just want to know what it's all about.

Then, we talk to Linda Smit, our agent from DVC Resale Market and a veteran DVC seller. Since she's been a part of selling since the very first DVC property opened, she's a fantastic source of information on the topic. During our interview, she gives us a fabulous insight into how to buy DVC, the advantages of buying, the pros and cons of buying resale vs. straight from Disney, when to buy, the approximate amount of points you may need, and so much more!

Thanks again to Linda for taking the time to let us interview her. If you're interested in DVC, you can reach Linda at linda@dvcresalemarket.com or 352-223-9600.

Have a magical week!

09 Aug 2021Disney+ Marvel Series00:53:43

Hello and bienvenidos to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, where we discuss anything and everything Disney.

This week in Disney News, there's been SO MUCH pricing news it's been bonkers! We learned about the new annual pass system at Disneyland called Magic Key, the suggested pricing for the Galactic Starcruiser (aka the Star Wars hotel), and how much the Magical Express replacement service through Mears is going to cost. Talking about all of this makes my wallet feel famished.   This week is a major SPOILER ALERT for anyone not up-to-speed on all of the Marvel shows on Disney+, as we talk about WandaVision, Falcon and the Winter Soldier, and Loki and definitely reveal some of the big secrets. We don't give you a play-by-play of everything, but instead favor talking about what about the shows worked and didn't work, the impact all of this will have on the MCU, how the MCU is going to continue when the lore behind it seems to be growing faster than the number of actors on the MCU's payroll, and probably a lot of things I'm forgetting right now.   We'd love to hear your thoughts too about the direction the MCU is headed and the new shows/movies coming out in the next phase! To do that, head on over to our Facebook page Enchanted Ears!   Have a magical week!   Check us out on Facebook and Youtube or submit a question/topic for us to discuss on a future episode or support us on Patreon.
07 Mar 2022Top 10 Disney World Trip Planning Tips00:35:19

Hello and welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, where we discuss anything and everything Disney!

This week in Disney News, the Marvel Netflix shows will be coming to Disney+ on March 16th. Disney will also be adding parental controls to keep that content away from the kids! Also, they’re adding an Ad-supported version of Disney+ for those hoping to pay a little less for all that good Disney content.

If you feel like you’re lacking a little human-ish contact, never fear! Character hugs are back at Disneyland Paris!

And lastly, a new light show debuted for the International Flower and Garden Festival on Spaceship Earth. It’s set to “Colors of the Wind” and the colors are beautiful pastels and earth tones.

This week, we give our best tips for having a great trip to Disney!

We share what you definitely should do and some things you should avoid to make sure you can have a fun, stress-free trip.

We cover when you should look to make your reservations, what attractions you should tackle first, how to save money (and then promptly spend it on something else), and so much more!

Thank you for joining us and as always, have a magical week!

08 Nov 2021Ranking Disney World‘s Park Icons00:30:20

Hello and welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, where we discuss anything and everything Disney!

This week in Disney News, Gal Gadot was cast to play the Evil Queen in the live-action remake of Snow White.   Disney also released what their RunDisney springtime surprise races will be and their lengths. There are definitely some shockers and let-downs.   When you step into any Disney World park, you are bound to come face-to-concrete with that park's icon (unless you're in Hollywood Studios that is). The park icons, The Hollywood Tower Hotel, Spaceship Earth, Tree of Life, and Cinderella Castle, are everywhere. They're on merch, signs, and now have really nice new lighting packages for the 50th. So this week, we take some time to share some quick facts about them and what makes them special. Then, we power rank them to definitively say what's the best park icon overall!    Disagree with us? Let us know why we under/overvalued certain park icons on our Facebook, Enchanted Ears! And if you have a suggestion for an upcoming episode, feel free to tell us there or on our website enchantedears.com!   Have a magical week and thank you so much for listening!
