So in the last episode recorded before Thanksgiving, Enitza announced that was in love! Well that's over now and we will go through how and why. I think it's important to share these stories so you don't feel crazy when they happen to you. All of us go through these things, some hurt more than others, this one for sure has a bite to it but we live and learn. I think my old therapist Lupe would be proud!! Lisa Streich is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor that specializes in attachment. She is a facilitator for Circle of Security and she works with parents and partners to deepen safety and security in relationships. When John Bowlby and Mary Ainsworth began theorizing about attachment styles it was thought that by 2 years old your attachment style was already determined and you were set for life. Good or bad. Deal with it. As new research has emerged, we have learned that you can change your attachment style. It takes work but it is not impossible. The main question people always ask is "How did you get out?"  When you are trapped in any toxic situation, it can seem impossible to get out. Where do you even start when you are drowning in life, which never stops but simultaneously need to start over...in my case with 4 kids in tow.

These are some of the typical thoughts, comments and responses to domestic violence and narcissistic abuse.  None of that is true or appropriate, its just easier for society to look the other way and blame the victim than to admit they are complicit. 

Abuse can not happen without enablers! Most evil dictators sat in their comfy thrones while their armies did the fighting. No one person is powerful alone, just like the old proverb many hands make light work.

So its been a minute! Like any proper lady I don't wanna justjump right into things, lets warm up a little. Get to know each other better, have an appetizer of sorts! In this episode we catch up a little but mostly tell the outrageous story of Burt Pugach and Linda Riss. They were the focus of the 2007 documentary Crazy Love directed by Dan Klores. Watching this documentary always annoyed me because everyone involved, even Linda herself made such light of the situation. I couldn't understand how she could love this man after what he did to her. But after really paying attention to the details and the words from Linda herself it sounds more like a story of a woman with no village. Linda died a prisoner and a warden. It is a wild story that is truly stranger than fiction, I wish I was making this one up.
