When it comes to drunken, true-crime solving, you can't keep a good woman down - something we already knew in regards to hosts, Catie, Hannah and Taylor, but we also now know to be true of comedian Sarah Barron, who agreed to join-in with the semi-sloshed sleuthing for today's episode.

We all know that crime busting and the medical profession go hand-in-hand, after-all where would Holmes be without his Dr Watson?

Nidhi is a film maker and writer and took the unexpected step of returning to front line medicine to work on the Covid 19 wards - contracting the virus herself whilst saving the lives of others. It was during this time that she became victim of perhaps the most cowardly crime EVER committed, as you'll hear for yourself.

Hello lovely listeners, Producer Amanda here. 

I'm writing this exactly one week after I came home to find my flat burgled and have since been processing the loss of those irreplaceable items given to me by people no longer here for me to hug.

But, all the support I received from far and wide really has been a huge help, not least the understanding from DWSC fans that we were unable to put out last week's episode, after my laptop was one of the casualties of the robbery.

I was so touched at how fully everyone embraced our famed #FemaleWorkplace along with Hannah, Taylor & Catie, whom I'm lucky enough not to just call colleagues, but three of my very best friends, in fact they were among the first people I turned to when I arrived home that day and they of course showed me the love and support I have received from them countless times since I was lucky enough to start my working relationship with them (I'm still waiting for them to solve it though, maybe it could be a future case).

I've also been so touched at the kindness and understanding from the DWSC family of listeners, patreons and past guests, who have reached out to offer me support - one guy even received a twitter ban for expressing his disgust at my perpetrator - it would appear chivalry is very much alive in our gang, and that we are part of a very special tribe.... which you'll NEVER leave, UNDERSTAND?!

In this second episode from their sold-out run at the Edinburgh Fringe, the Drunk Women enlisted the help of US comic and video game star, Lucie Pohl.

Lucie’s crime is brought to you from the mean streets of NYC, where she developed a rather strange relationship with her muggers.

Although at the time of release we're all gearing-up for Christmas, the team at Drunk Women Towers invite you to cast your minds back to Halloween 2019 when our tipsy trio boarded the ghost train to foggy Corsham so they could bring Drunk Women Solving Crime to the West Country.

You just need to know that because they all talk about being dressed up at the start, but other than that it could be any drunken evening, as the team dive into the life of a confidence trickster whose story became a blockbusting film... don't try to guess what the film is at this stage, because it's really annoying - all will be revealed.

As usual they enlist the help of a star super-sleuth and so the wonderful actor, writer and right good laff Kerry Howard engaged her little grey cells and pretty much solved it (along with a woman in the audience who clearly LOVES the film of the story).

For the Drunk Women, this episode provides a whiff of nostalgia, as it was recorded in the heady days of Summer '18; when temperatures were high, the beer was tepid and guest Wendy Wason wafted-in like a breath of fresh air to get to the bottom of one of the most notorious criminals of the 20th century - Charles Manson. 

Everyone knows that the Manson 'Family' embarked on a gruesome killing spree, which shook Tinsel Town to its very core - but, fewer know about a previous victim of Manson's which gave some vital clues about his psychopathic tendencies. 

We also learn there's a time and a place for posting pictures of an intimate nature - and the PTA Whatsapp group isn't it apparently.

The Drunk Women love being able to spend International Women's Day together and so decided to do a live show as part of the Vaults Festival, also raising money for child.org and joining them to do all of this was actor, comedian and writer, Andi Osho!

Andi's own crime story could have easily been a plot in a James Bond novel and showed that most villains would have to get up early to have one over on her, which she also went on to demonstrate when Hannah presented a case involving a woman who inspired celebrity status for her confidence tricks - which are truly awe inspiring.

The evening was rounded-off nicely by an audience member sharing a mystery of a missing engagement ring.... which actually could still be in her bag to be fair.

As the Drunk Women carry on through their sloshed-sleuthing odyssey of the Edinburgh Fringe, they brought in comic, podcaster and ex-lawyer Alice Fraser to bring her legal experience to proceedings.

Alice shares the time sheer bravado let her escape being mugged in New York, the gang get to the bottom of a case which is the very definition of 'cold' (it happened in the snow), and a member of the sold-out audience was brave enough to come up and earn his 'Drunk Women' umbrella by sharing his own crime story - although you could argue that the gentleman’s brother ended up the real victim.

In the final 'throwback' edition, the Drunk Women were joined by Canadian writer and comic, Monica Heisey. Monica bookends this episode beautifully with two occasions she was the victim of a crime - and she's probably the MOST empathetic 'victim' to have ever featured on the show.

The gang then explore the murky world of 'Spring-Heeled Jack' whose baffling method of abusing his victims prompts many an interesting theory from the drunken detectives.

We also find out that Hannah's family opt for a rather unorthodox parlour game on Christmas Day...

The 'countdown' is almost over, as the DWSC team finally welcomes etymologist and star of one of the UK's longest-running shows 'Countdown' (you can see the brilliant gag we made there) and its comedy, sister show, 'Cats Does Countdown', it is, of course, the one and only, Susie Dent!

As well as giving us some pretty cool word origins, Susie also proved to be a pretty savvy crime solver and hits the nail on the head several times in this episode's stratospheric case, as well as starting us off with a crime that also has more than a hint of nostalgia attached.

This week on Drunk Women Solving Crime, we have someone who is not only an asset to THIS force but has been an asset to the ACTUAL force, serving 30 years in the British Police, becoming the first non-white woman to be promoted through the ranks to chief superintendent.

Parm Sandhu has also recently starred in a Channel 4 reality show Murder Island, where she advises real-life amateur detectives to solve a re-enacted murder, so stands to reason that we HAD to have her as an honourary 4th member of DWSC!

As you would expect Parm is not faint-hearted in the face of crime and so bravely tells the tale of when she was personally caught up in a local crime wave, before putting her 30 years of experience into a cold case involving gums ... we didn't say it would be easy Parm.

Normally today we would be putting out another cracking DWSC episode; unfortunately this week we will not be releasing an episode. 

This is because our dear producer Amanda came home this weekend to discover her flat had been burgled (I know, life imitating art, right?) Along with the devastation and sense of violation that brings, the intruder stole her laptop and all of her's jewellery, including this peacock brooch (pictured). 

It is a precious family heirloom, which Amanda's Great Grandfather had made for his wife, out of gems which a wartime evacuee they were housing gave as a thank-you gift to them (the evacuee's family owned a jewellery business).
