Sal, once faced with unimaginable challenges, triumphed over adversity. After the tragic loss of his son, the departure of his girlfriend, and the subsequent spiral into depression and alcoholism, Sal found redemption. A turning point came when he decided to fight for his life, seeking God and through faith and repentance. God answered his prayers, leading him to a path of recovery.

Sal's commitment to transformation led him to abstain from alcohol, engage in endurance sports like Spartan runs and Ironmans, and dedicate years to volunteering. He became an active member of his church, pursued education, and earned a place on the dean's list.

Now a decade sober, Sal is a devoted father to two sons, providing them with love and support. Overcoming stress-induced hair loss, he discovered scalp micro pigmentation and, fascinated by the process, ventured into the industry. For the past 4 1/2 years, Sal has successfully run an SMP clinic in Seaside, California, attributing his remarkable journey to the guiding hand of God.

Meet Florencia "Flor" Peña, a 28-year-old born in Argentina 🇦🇷 and raised in Utah since the age of 4. 🏔️ Flor has been a vibrant force in the beauty industry since August 2019.

Before diving into permanent makeup, Florencia worked in the ER for Intermountain as registration for four years. In mid-2019, her life took a turn when she discovered she was pregnant. Determined to find a better work-life balance, she decided to leave her job. Around the same time, her mother was diagnosed with ALS, adding more challenges to her journey.

In March 2020, Flor gave birth to her son, Lukas, just as her mom's symptoms began to worsen. With COVID-19 impacting everyone, hospitals were in desperate need of staff, and Florencia found herself juggling a newborn, caring for her mom, and working night shifts. Despite the chaos, she pursued her passion for permanent makeup, taking clients and honing her skills.

Tragically, in late April, her mom passed away. Flor was emotionally and financially drained, and with an unsupportive manager insisting she work on Mother's Day, she decided to quit her hospital job. That pivotal moment led to the creation of @simplicityink_.

Florencia's story is one of resilience and transformation. Despite the hardships, she used her experiences to fuel her career, building a thriving business and being present for every milestone in her son's life. Along the way, she has forged meaningful friendships and created a team of dedicated professionals at Simplicity Ink.

Donna Fathi, a 43-year-old mother of two and a wife, has been a part of the hair industry since 1995. She opened her own shop in Vancouver, Studio D Hair Salon, employing many up-and-coming barbers and stylists. It became one of Vancouver's biggest and busiest hair salons and barbershops, with an average staff of 20. In 2019, Donna discovered scalp micropigmentation (SMP) and decided to take a course to assist her clients experiencing hair loss, offering FLAWLESS SMP. She quickly became enamored with the art of scalp micropigmentation, becoming the first artist in Canada to master the sharp edge-up technique, leveraging her barbering background. In 2022, she partnered with SMP by Rachel to open an SMP Clinic in the Fairmont Medical Building. Together, they founded the Vancouver INK Academy, teaching scalp micropigmentation and performing SMP services. Donna Fathi is also a Pro Team Member with Blendz, from ArtOfSMP by Chris Herrera, and is committed to expanding the industry and increasing awareness about SMP as an effective hair loss solution.

She believes that educating more artists about SMP will help spread knowledge about this amazing hair loss solution. Donna dedicated two years to creating an online SMP course to aid existing SMP artists in continuing their education. The positive feedback revealed that many artists learned more from her online course than from their in-person training. However, Donna still advocates for mandatory in-person training to ensure students gain a comprehensive understanding. The online training aims to supplement learning, allowing students to delve into details at their own pace. Her goal is to ensure that every artist entering the industry behaves professionally, contributing to the industry's positive growth. As SMP artists, Donna feels it is crucial to educate potential clients about red flags to watch for and to showcase their best work.

She continues to be a forever student of the game and her goal is to keep the SMP industry solid. Chakay is now an SMP Educator. Her goal is to not only train students, but to make sure they have and understand all the tools they need to succeed, mentally, physically, and emotionally! Chakay is The First Lady of Gerow Hair Ink! She joined the Pioneers of SMP early 2023 as Gerow was making moves to expand to the West Coast. Chakay and the Gerow Team opened a Gerow Hair Clinic and Academy in the San Francisco Bay Area July 2023. This will be in conjunction with Chakay’s other business, The Bar Aesthetics Micropigmentation, founded in 2018, where she provides Esthetician and PMU Services! Tobias Romero is a renowned expert in Scalp Micropigmentation, with nearly a decade of experience in the field (2017-2025). A licensed barber since 2012, Tobias' passion for the craft was ignited at a young age by his grandfather, Ramon, who taught him the art of barbering.

Tobias' journey in Scalp Micropigmentation began in 2017 when he underwent extensive training under the guidance of the esteemed Bryce Cleveland, a pioneer in the field. This comprehensive training laid the foundation for Tobias' exceptional skills and attention to detail.

"My wife and I spent the last 10 days in two different children's hospitals, Nemours and CHOP. We initially took our 3-month-old daughter, Carmella, in to get blood work because her skin was turning yellow, only to find out she has high bilirubin levels and liver enzymes. After numerous tests, we discovered she had two gallstones stuck in her common bile duct, preventing the bile from releasing into her small intestine. This led to an emergency surgery, which ended up being two surgeries because the first surgery (ERCP) didn’t work. Four days later, Dr. Acord, Dr. Mamula, and Dr. Coe performed a Percutaneous Transhepatic Cholangiography (PTC) Surgery, and they were able to clear the pipes to ensure proper flow of the fluids. We are extremely thankful for the medical teams at CHOP and Nemours Hospital for saving our daughter's life. Thank you; we are forever grateful."
