Alex has a real feast of horror to review, with 'Amulet', 'A Banquet' and 'Master' all coming from female filmmakers.

With a $90m budget, 'The Northman' represents a departure for Robert Eggers on a financial level, does that apply on a creative side too?

In anticipation of this week's release of 'Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness', we take a look at another alternate reality in the world of the sorcerer supreme, 1992's 'Doctor Mordrid'.

This Full Moon project originally started life as an official Doctor Strange film but rights lapsed and rewrites were hastily done, resulting in this odd concoction of not quite right replacements for many of the elements of the superhero property, whilst also retaining a sense of fun and shlockiness that's hard to come by in the 21st century offerings in the same genre.

Welcome back to you all dear friends, we've missed you terribly this week. To make up for it, how about a lovely installment of News & Reviews? Just like we used to make when you were little, remember it was your absolute favourite?

Reviews this week include (and are completely limited to) French drama 'Everything Went Fine', Karen Gillan starring sci fi nonsense 'Dual' & Nic Cage meme shitposting page made celluloid 'The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent'.

Don't worry, the costarring baby crying is one week only special guest. There's no way we're inviting him back after what he said about 'Love Hard'.

27 Jun 2022Episode 172: The Flash Movie Spoiler Review00:44:07

If like us you also believed this movie was never coming out then there is egg on all our faces.

05 May 2019News & Reviews: Vox Lux & Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil & Vile00:54:34

With a couple of films far less Marvel-y than the current behemoth occupying the top spot of the box office (by some distance).

Natalie Portman plays a pop star born out of tragedy in Brady Corbet's 'Vox Lux', a film that takes aim at the media and it's obsession with knocking down figures that they themselves have set up. This tangentially relates to the focus of 'Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile' a film which follows the trial of Ted Bundy (played by Zac Efron here).

03 Jul 2022News & Reviews: The Black Phone, Top Gun: Maverick, Pleasure, Mad God, Offseason & Stranger Things S4 Part 201:27:49

Wazzzzzappppp! Remember that advert? Good times.

Busy, busy week this week and boy does the episode length reflect that. I hope your commute hits some traffic so you can enjoy this in full.

10 Jul 2022Episode 173: Thor: Love and Thunder Spoiler Review01:03:43

Ahoy there, loyal listeners! Welcome to this very prompt and urgent spoiler review for the latest entry in the MCU, 'Thor: Love and Thunder'. We were definitely always going to do this episode this week and we promise it's not because Alex couldn't be bothered to think of another idea for an episode topic.

So this full on spoiler review is slightly odd as only Andy has seen the film so he more or less just tells Alex what happens in the movie. But full spoilers still apply!

17 Jul 2022News & Reviews: Thor: Love and Thunder, Brian and Charles, Il Buco, Elvis, Tigers & Escape From Mogadishu01:24:05

Guess who's back with another dose of hot and fresh news and/or reviews? If you guessed anyone but us then bad luck as it's never gonna happen like that.

We bring you our thoughts on such releases as MCU effort 'Thor: Love and Thunder', offbeat British comedy 'Brian and Charles', cave exploration Hudson bait 'Il Buco', showy biopic 'Elvis', sporting drama 'Tigers' & South Korean real life inspired thriller 'Escape From Mogadishu'.

24 Jul 2022Episode 174: The Continuing Saga of Resident Evil Adaptations00:55:27

Mild Spoiler Warning! With the recent release of Netflix’s new series ‘Resident Evil’, the boys talk about it in a loose sense, what it manages to do well and less well. They also compare it to other screen adaptations with particular focus on the Paul W S Anderson films which originated at the start of the century.

It’s a very loose discussion that wanders between points without too much connective tissue, so in actual fact it’s the perfect representation of the Resident Evil franchise when you think about it.

31 Jul 2022News & Reviews: She Will, The Sea Beast, The Gray Man, Swan Song & Jurassic World: Dominion01:09:38

With the conclusion of San Diego Comic Con last week, this episode is largely a news dump of all the big announcements and reveals from that event.

Reviews wise we bring you psychological horror 'She Will', Netflix's animation 'The Sea Beast', Russo Brothers actioner 'The Gray Man', 'Swan Song' which features a great performance by Udo Kier & dinosaur franchise fodder 'Jurassic World: Dominion'.

Alex meanwhile is lumbered with the first installment of Dinosaur Man 69 where he plays one of the myriad NSFW games on itch.io.

14 Aug 2022Dinosaur Man Sidecast: Yes Another One!00:11:49

In this sidecast (because why not bring them back) Andy discusses the film Prey briefly and also makes plans for future episodes while Alex is not here to stop him running his mouth.

28 Aug 2022Episode 175: Diagnosis DC The Spreadsheet Cut01:08:49

Well if you were thinking, "Oh yeah news and reviews is all well and good but will you ever just make an episode which is purely a man reading numbers from a spreadsheet?" then you're in luck!

This is truly the darkest timeline, Alex spends an hour trying to work out if 'Batgirl' should have been cancelled by reading out budgets and grosses for Warner Bros DC comics properties since the turn of the century. What answer does he come to? Does Andy regret not doing research? Does Andy realise this would be the podcast if he wasn't on it?

12 May 2019News & Reviews: Pokemon Detective Pikachu00:42:54

It's just the one review this week, but don't think that means it's a short one. Andy bangs on about Pokemon as much as you'd expect while Alex just sits and listens patiently. Lots of jokes and lots of exclusive instagram content. Fill your boots!

04 Sep 2022News & Reviews: Bodies Bodies Bodies, Official Competition & Glorious01:06:51

11 Sep 2022Episode 176: Trouble On Set!00:59:56

All the uproar and internet chatter surrounding the premiere of Olivia Wilde's new film "Don't Worry Darling" got us thinking here at Dinosaur Man HQ about other productions where on set or off set antics overshadowed the release of the film, for better or for worse.

We look at famous examples of nightmare productions, casting clashes and attempted murder. Strap in for a wild ride!

19 Sep 2022Movies Are Cancelled This Week00:02:11

We'll see you next week.

25 Sep 2022News & Reviews: Moonage Daydream, Hatching, Crimes of the Future, Young Plato, Saloum, Beast & Scream01:32:37

After the exciting snake pit action of last week, Alex has fought his way free to take part in this week’s news & reviews episode. Thank goodness he has as he’s got a backlog of things to talk about in an already news heavy week so this one’s going to be a marathon episode.

There’s new David Cronenberg body horror ‘Crimes of the Future’, Bowie documentary ‘Moonage Daydream’, Idris Elba turns lion puncher in ‘Beast’, ‘Scream’ is another of 2022’s myriad legacy sequels, ‘Young Plato’ is an uplifting documentary regarding one headmasters efforts to reshape the culture of aggression in schoolchildren, ‘Saloum’ is a Senegalese supernatural action thriller comedy that feels like a blend you won’t often see and finally ‘Hatching’ is a Finnish coming of age horror.

02 Oct 2022Episode 177: Horror Legacy Sequels01:13:54

Boo!

And with that scare we kick off 2022's Shocktober episodes with a bang. We've got a packed month ahead of us so why don't we just get straight into it?

This week, Alex talks us through the current trend of horror legacy sequels and what they mean for the genre. We discuss a few examples and talk through what works about the successful ones and what doesn't work for the misses, what lessons can we take from this and what does this mean going forward?

In yet another move to really provide you lot with value for money in podcast terms, we decided to make this another marathon length episode of News & Reviews, so I guess you're welcome. Plenty to talk about this week as Andy updates on 'She-Hulk', 'The Rings Of Power' and 'House Of The Dragon'.

On the film front we've got reviews of the latest crowdpleasing horror 'Smile', whodunit caper 'See How They Run', a pair of documentaries in 'The Territory' and 'Fire Of Love', bad taste comedy 'Funny Pages' and the rerelease of 'Avatar' in anticipation of the upcoming sequel.

There are aome shocks and surprises along the was a we work through the full bracket in this episode, with the remaining rounds to be covered in Part 2 so keep tuned in for that coming your way in the coming weeks.

Andy's audio is sketchy this week as tech issues meant we could only pull the recording from his inbuilt laptop mic. All will be resolved for part 2.

Reviews this week include DC superhero fare Black Adam. The finale of the Michael Myers saga in Halloween Ends. The reboot (maybe) of pinhead and the gang in Hellraiser and plenty more. Andy also finally wraps up his thoughts on House of the Dragon.

News features trailers for Ant Man and The Wasp: Quantumania and Creed 3. There is talk about the Gran Turismo movie and Alex ranks all the Spice Girls in order of which ones he'd like to hang out with.

Nothing happens in the middle of the recording and the episode definitely wasn't recorded in two halves with the second making us unreasonably sadder for some reason. Don't worry about it.

If you want to contact us then message us on Twitter @DinosaurMan15 (while it still lasts).

16 Nov 2022Episode 180: Rando Calrissian 3: Parabellum00:47:50

Well, here we are. Better late than never right? A nothing episode for a week where we genuinely had nothing to do and still managed to not release it in time.

It's what we in the industry regard as a fallow week for podcasting and as a result it's mainly chat with very little point to it.

Enjoy!

20 Nov 2022Episode 181: United Passions (World Cup Special)00:29:47

It's another solo episode today as Andy has been struck down by a virus, so in this shorter mini episode Alex discusses the film 'United Passions' from 2014. A largely self funded FIFA propaganda film, what better way is there to commemorate the start of the 2022 World Cup?

I mean, thank goodness this is only a short episode as there probably isn't 90 minutes worth of discussion to be had about this film it's that misguided. Anyway, Alex watched it so you don't have to.

27 Nov 2022News & Reviews: V/H/S/99 & Deadstream00:15:44

Another minisode this week as Andy's currently indisposed, Alex takes time to review recent horror releases 'V/H/S/99' and 'Deadstream' (both available on Shudder now) while Andy's off. Normal service hopefully resumes next week.

11 Dec 2022Episode 182: A Very Netflix Christmas 301:44:52

After the rip roaring success of our2 previous deep dives into the world of Netflix original Christmas movies we return with another look into this years line up. We get into the ins and outs of three entries.

'The Noel Diary', 'Christmas With You' and 'Falling for Christmas' are the subjects this year. Unfortunately none of them are musicals but we live and learn, however there are always Christmas songs to be sung and Eggnog to be drunk, not to mention morals to impart!

Do they make us feel Christmas? Did Alex cry? Was there any point in reviving this format for a 3rd year in a row? Find out right here!

Enjoy it you lot.

25 Dec 2022Episode 183: Love Hard Commentary Track01:49:51

Ho ho ho! Welcome to this year's Dinosaur Man holiday special, our most extravagant and low effort special yet. It's a commentary track for a now beloved Christmas classic, 2021's 'Love Hard'. We've wanted to honour this film ever since last year's Netflix Christmas episode got ruined by gremlins (not the film), this was a fitting way for us to do that without having to rewatch two garbage Netflix films alongside it.

So open up Netflix, hover over that play button and enjoy the magic!

We cover the big releases of the week in Disney's 'Aladdin' and the Elton John inspired 'Rocketman' as well as discussing a couple of lower key releases 'The Man Who Killed Hitler and Then the Bigfoot' and 'The Perfection'.

Awards season has begun to pull into view and so we kick off our fortnight of awards episodes with a newer ceremony in the form of Game of the Year awards for games played in 2022 (although released in some cases 25 years ago). Andy doles out awards to a bunch of big and small names in the world of video games, mustachioed plumbers, Miltanks and Marvel's avengers all feature. Alex talks about the handful of games he played this year and once again has to reckon with the horniness of game developers.

22 Jan 2023Episode 187: Films of 2022 Awards02:21:37

Here it is folks, yet another magnum opus! The long awaited and prestigious Dinosaur Man awards for films of the year released in the UK in 2022. In what has become a long standing tradition we battle it out with our guest Paul Hudson to nominate and win in the big categories.
