Hello and welcome to the Country Proud Living Podcast! Nurturing home, empowered self. I am your host LoriLynn, and I am so happy you are here! Pull up a chair, grab a hot cup of coffee or tea and let's have a cozy conversation. I encourage you to take a leap forward in your life, this LEAP YEAR! Sharing tips below to go for it! 1) Preparing for the Leap:
What is your motivation?
Acknowledge the little risks you already take.
Respond to well-meaning critics.
Look down both roads, and if you stayed in the same spot you are today.
Think well of yourself, trust in your ability to succeed.
2) While in the air:
Act Quickly. Don't put it off any longer.
Stop dwelling on the Negative.
Don't put it off any longer.
Keep the past in the past.
Find support, from those that leaped.
Accept transformation.
3) After you land:
Redefine success for you.
Stop looking around. Comparison is the thief of JOY.
Fail. The idea is to simply to accept failure as a part of life and not something you must avoid.
Press on: No matter the outcome .
Leap often: Taking risks and leaping into the unknown becomes easier when you do it more often.

Hello and welcome to the Country Proud Living Podcast! Nurturing home, empowered self. I am your host LoriLynn, and I am so happy you are here! Carol and I struck up a conversation a couple years ago about the Iconic Grace art piece and we reconnected to discuss it in more detail. Many of you have seen this iconic art piece and those that live in the Midwest will be very familiar with it and even those throughout the US and internationally will recognize it as well. If you are like Carol and I who grew up seeing this artwork you will find its history and its ties to Minnesota very interesting. The photograph "Grace" was adopted as the Minnesota state photograph in 2002. The photograph “Grace,” depicting an elderly man bowing his head and giving thanks, was taken in Bovey, Minnesota in 1918 by Eric Enstrom. A picture that seemed to say, “This man doesn’t have much of earthly goods, but he has more than most people because he has a thankful heart.” Thanks for your support and stopping by today! Spring Colors I recommend for your home! Colors of nature are timeless and brings the outdoors in! They are great options if you want to add some color but are unsure of where to start! The colors in this Anthology were presented to me at a Interior Designers event I attended late last year where I was able to get a sneak peek into color forecasting which is my favorite part of my career!

Welcome to the Country Proud Living Podcast, I'm your host LoriLynn. Thanks for being here! Today I am sharing about Light and the importance of this in the world. I encourage you to share your light with those around you, especially during this significant week of Easter. Believe in miracles!
One of my favorite sayings is Travel light, Live light, Spread the light, Be the light. I discuss its meaning to me and how it is important to live your life in this way.

Welcome to the Country Proud Living Podcast, I'm your host LoriLynn. Thanks for being here! Today I am sharing about Love, family, and boundaries and how we all have struggles in this area. This episode is something everyone can relate to. I was inspired to talk about this today because love, family, and boundaries are a part of everyone's life and along with the joy also comes the struggle.
Love is infinite and it expands, it is abundant! There isn't a limited supply in the world. Love is like the air we breathe there is more than enough for everyone so if you have a stingy heart and hold back from loving people....don't let that be your heart!
You can only be responsible for what you do, and you can't control others and what they do. How people treat you is a reflection of them, not you. If you have a challenging family member in your life they probably need love the most. Love them through it, but don't be a doormat for them. Everyone has heartbreaking family stories. Everyone. So if you do, may you find comfort in knowing that you are not alone.
My whole life changed when I realized I could be humble and calm yet still not tolerate disrespect and set solid boundaries to protect my energy. This saying above has helped me immensely when challenging family dynamics occur. I hope it helps you too!
Sharing another quote that I love so much! This one can really make you stop and think... so if you hold back from letting loved ones (especially the difficult ones) know how much you love them, you will live with that pain a long time when that opportunity is gone. "The LOVE we fail to share is the only PAIN we live with." Brian Biro I encourage you to not wait to share love with those around you because one day it may be too late. Do it now.

Welcome to the Country Proud Living Podcast, I'm your host LoriLynn. Today I am interviewing my cowboy, and hubby! If you are interested in learning more about a dairy farm, today is your day! Steve graduated from the University of Minnesota with a Bachelor of Agricultural Business Administration. We are both proud alumni and love to cheer for the Gophers! Row the Boat, Ski-U-Mah, Go Gophers!
Steve and his brother Bill bought their dads farm 30 years ago and have made many improvements over the years, in 2020 they added four Delaval milking robots and a robotic feed pusher, and a bedding robot this past year.
Merryville Farm has been a part of the Waverly, MN community for generations and continues the tradition of farming with a third generation.
I'll also be sharing more on my Instagram stories and posts of photos and videos of the farm and you'll be able to see the robotic technology we discuss and will also get to see the Freestall barn too!
If you have any questions please DM me on Instagram or email me at LoriLynn@countryproudliving.com and I'll get the answers and share them with you.
Thank a farmer today and everyday! Thanks for being here today! LoriLynn

Welcome to the Country Proud Living Podcast, I'm your host LoriLynn. Thanks for being here! Today I am sharing about GROWTH, and although it can be difficult is can be a very rewarding journey inward. Personal growth is a process of understanding yourself and striving to reach your highest potential. It means always asking yourself who you are becoming and how you plan to get there. The truth is what you are looking for is not out there, it is in within you! Growth sometimes requires disruption - just as a plant rearranges the soil from which it sprouts. We all know that life can be challenging and it is helpful to remember to Grow through what you go through. We don't grow when things are easy. We grow when we face challenges.

Welcome to the Country Proud Living Podcast, I'm your host LoriLynn. Thanks for being here! Today I am sharing about Habits and how small changes can really create positive change in your life. There is also a concept I discuss called Habit Stacking that makes it easier to make those small improvements. I've made some small intentional changes that have improved my own life and sharing a few of them here.
Atomic Habits by James Clear is a book that talks about the power of small habits in creating lasting changes in your life. Unlike generic and repetitive motivational books, this book tells you that real change comes from countless small decisions, not just motivation.

Welcome to the Country Proud Living Podcast, I am your host LoriLynn! Recently I placed lovely lilacs in vases throughout my home and it inspired me to look into the positive benefits of having flowers in your home. HAPPINESS is fresh flowers!
"I must have flowers, always, and always." Claude Monet
A behavioral research study conducted by Nancy Etcoff, Ph.D., of Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School, reveals that people feel more compassionate toward others, have less worry and anxiety, and feel less depressed when fresh cut flowers are present in the home.
1. Flowers feed compassion. 2. Flowers chase away anxieties, worries and the blues at home. 3. Living with flowers can provide a boost of energy, happiness and enthusiasm at work.

Welcome to the Country Proud Living Podcast, I am your host LoriLynn!
Your emotional intelligence is defined by how well you control your emotions, respond to problems and questions, and interact with other people. Emotional intelligence is the “something” in each of us that is a bit intangible. It affects how we manage behavior, navigate social complexities, and make personal decisions to achieve positive results.
I understand that this topic may not be appealing but trust me in that having this awareness of these signs and habits will help you to better handle people who may have issues with low EQ (often they don't even know it) at least for me it has helped me be more patience and understanding.
11 Signs of low Emotional Intelligence: 1. You get stressed easily 2. You have difficulty asserting yourself 3. You have a limited emotional vocabulary 4. You make assumptions quickly and defend them vehemently 5. You hold grudges 6. You don't let go of mistakes 7. You often feel misunderstood 8. You don't know your triggers 9. You don't get angry 10. You blame other people for your they make you feel 11. You are easily offended
INTELLIGENT PEOPLE by Kendra Cherry Self Awareness: Is one of the key components of emotional intelligence. Self-awareness involves the ability to recognize moods, emotions, and feelings. Empathy: This involves the ability to understand the emotions of other people. Self Regulation: Emotionally intelligent people think before they act on their feelings. They are in tune with how they feel, but they do not let their emotions rule their lives. Motivation: Emotionally intelligent people are motivated to achieve their goals. They are capable of managing their behaviors and feelings in order to achieve long-t

Welcome to the Country Proud Living Podcast, I am your host LoriLynn!
You Have to Be Strong, Enrich Your Life, and Improve Your Health This episode builds upon the last one...mentally tough people know that life goes a lot smoother once you let go of grudges and forgive even those who never said they were sorry. Grudges let negative events from your past ruin today’s happiness. Hate and anger are emotional parasites that destroy your joy in life.
"The weak can never forgive, forgiveness is the attribute of the strong." Gandhi
The negative emotions that come with holding on to a grudge create a stress response in your body, and holding on to stress can have devastating consequences (both physically and mentally). When you forgive someone, it doesn’t condone their actions; it simply frees you from being their eternal victim.
People who "play the victim" often communicate passive-aggressively because it's difficult for them to acknowledge their own faults. Holding grudges that can last for years because they are very unforgiving and self-righteous.
Emotional intelligence is the cornerstone of mental toughness. You cannot be mentally tough without the ability to fully understand and tolerate strong negative emotions and do something productive with them.
15 Habits of a Mentally Strong Person 1. They're Emotionally Intelligent 2. They're Confident 3. They Neutralize Toxic People 4. They Embrace Change 5. They Say No 6. They Know that Fear is the #1 Source of Regret 7. They Embrace Failure 8. They Don't Dwell on Mistakes 9. They won't Let Anyone Limit Their Joy 10. And They Don't Limit the Joy of Others 11. They Exercise 12. They Get Enough Sleep 13. They Limit Their Caffeine Intake 14. They Don't Wait for an Apology to Forgive 15. They're Relentlessly Positive

Welcome to the Country Proud Living Podcast, I am your host LoriLynn! So many people I chat with often will share that they need to do a lot of work to their home to be happy and I don't believe that is the case. You can create a home that makes you happier starting today! Many of these tips are really easy to incorporate and are immediate mood lifters too!
Declutter This is the best time of year to really dig into the clutter that causes stress! Decluttering will improve your mental health and mood. Clutter can be messy and chaotic, which can make it difficult to focus and concentrate. Decluttering will help to make you feel more calm and in control of your surroundings It will also make you feel that you have accomplished something which is a mood lifter! Decluttering promotes creativity, improves sleep quality, and prevent unhealthy behaviors like overeating and overspending.
Add Plants Plants improve air quality, increase productivity, and will enhance your mood. They also create a sense of calm and help you to focus and relax. Studies have also shown that plants can also lower your blood pressure and heart rate. They add to the overall aesthetics of a space in addition to helping with absorbing sound too.
Create a calming space Find an area in your home that can be your respite from the world, such as a reading nook, craft space, or bathroom spa. This will give you a place to rest and restore and will help you feel more at peace.
Make memories Add artwork from memorable trips, favorite family photos and items that give you glimmers of happy memories. Art and favorite sentimental items will lift your mood and give you a personal connection and feeling of belonging which makes you feel at home.
Let in the Light Quick changes to window treatments to add more nat

Welcome to the Country Proud Living Podcast, I am your host LoriLynn! It isn't having money, or the an ivy league education, although those things help, it is having GRIT a.k.a. SISU as a character trait! You will stay the course even when it gets hard, you will constantly work through difficulties and will keep going when many others will have quit.
Grit, the meaning is to have courage and resolve; strength of character. Sisu (a Finnish word) Technically pronounced "See Soo" the oo = "oh" Translated to English is having stoic determination, tenacity of purpose, grit, bravery, resilience, hardiness, determination, guts, and courage. It is an action oriented mindset that can be applied to anyone's life. It is a word that resonates deeply with the Finnish mentality and captures an important aspect of their national identity. One can try to translate it with words like "grit" or "tenacity", but the cultural and emotional depth of "sisu" is difficult to fully grasp in other languages.
If you have GRIT, "SISU" then you will surely succeed. You will work through your roadblocks and challenges albeit it may be slow going at times but you will move forward no matter what! This my friends is what will create success in your life! You'll take action and pivot how ever many times is necessary but always, always, moving forward even if it is a crawl. Eventually the hard work and tenacity will pay off. Stay the course my friend!
I dedicate this episode to my dad and his significant other Kathleen who passed away this past summer. My dad turns "80" in December of this year and has been battling Cancer for many years. He is a tough Norwegian and she was a tough Finn! They both truly had SISU!

Welcome to the Country Proud Living Podcast, I am your host LoriLynn!
...Inch by Inch everything is a Cinch! I have used this mantra starting around 2015 and although it may seem to be a simple statement for me it has created some INCREDIBLE results in so many areas of my life!!! It really puts "overwhelm" in its place and helps me to focus on the steps right in front of me! It helps me ask myself what can I do today that will help me to make progress towards the future goals I've set for myself. Focusing on the smaller steps needed to move the needle forward is so helpful when seeing the monumental goal far off in the distance!
I highly recommend if you feel "stuck" and don't even know where to begin to start with saying this mantra too and figure out the steps you need to take however small they may be to start moving forward and taking action in your life to reach your goals! The thing is my friend, once you start accomplishing small incremental goals you will gain confidence and will create momentum. People, places, and things, will start showing up in your life to help you get there more quickly because taking action tells the world around you that you are serious and committed and soon doors start opening, you start seeing more opportunities, great contacts and people who have done what you want to do show up in your life as guides.
If you need to get yourself motivated I hope you will take a listen and/or if you know a friend or family member who needs a quick dose of motivation please share this pod episode with them!
I am so very grateful for each and everyone of you who take the time to listen from my country proud home to yours within this big ol' world of ours! Love & Light, LoriLynn

Welcome to the Country Proud Living Podcast, I am your host LoriLynn!
It is good to recognize those in your life that have your best interest at heart and those that don't. When you are on a journey of improving your lot in life some will not like how growth looks on you. They will try to keep you where they would like you to be and will not be supportive. The worst part as they may seem to support you when in actuality they don't. Learn to note the difference. I am not saying to drop all your relationships but to be aware of those who have your back and those that don't. Sorry to say that a lot of times this is even your relatives. Salt looks like sugar as they say! You need to be your own advocate and not expect others to advocate for you. It is your responsibility and a form of self-respect to do so.
Don't just listen to what people say, watch what they do. Actions speak louder than words. Observe my friend and you will start to see things more clearly. Our lives are greatly affected by who we choose to surround ourselves with, and spotting someone who doesn’t necessarily have your best interest at heart is a critical skill when learning to foster your own happiness and emotional evolution.
Being NICE is when you are polite to people and treat people well. Being KIND is when you care about people and show you care. If you pay attention you will recognize this difference in how the people you surround yourself with behave. You'll also find ways you can improve to spread more loving kindness to others in your life.
One of the less discussed but equally significant aspects of relationships is their role in personal growth and development. Friends and family often act as mirrors, reflecting our strengths and weaknesses, thus enabling us to understand ourselves better. They challenge us, celeb

Welcome to the Country Proud Living Podcast, I am your host LoriLynn!
Today I am sharing Key Points & Practical Advice on how DESIGN impacts your Well-Being. The home is more than just a place to live—it’s a space that can actively support your well-being and personal growth!
1. Declutter Your Space, Declutter Your Mind Cluttered spaces can lead to feelings of overwhelm, anxiety, and even depression. I encourage you to tackle clutter in small steps, starting with a single room or corner. Introduce the idea of “curating” belongings—keeping only items that are functional, beautiful, or meaningful. Practical Tip: Before investing in organizational systems purge items that are no longer serving you.
2. Color Psychology: Choosing Colors that Heal Certain colors can evoke soothing feelings and can also promote calm and creativity. I encourage you to reflect on how you want to feel in each room and choose colors that support those emotions. Practical Tip: Suggest calming color schemes like soft blues for bedrooms, warm neutrals for living spaces, or energizing yellows for kitchens. Accent colors used sparingly can also be mood lifters.
3. Bringing Nature Indoors: The Power of Biophilic Design Many people feel disconnected from nature, especially if they live in urban environments or work in an office, which can increase stress and anxiety. Suggest incorporating natural elements to boost emotional well-being and create a sense of calm. Practical Tip: I encourage you to add houseplants to different rooms, using natural materials like wood or stone, and maximizing natural light by using sheer curtains or strategically placed mirrors.
4. Creating Purpose-Driven Spaces Many homes have rooms that are underutilized or not designed to support the homeowner’s life goals. Identi

As we all settle into our routines this Fall how are you feeling? Are you feeling content or do you desire to mix it up a bit! If you are in the latter camp I have some fun innovative design ideas to help you update your space to give it a fresh start before the upcoming busy holiday season! Even if you pick just one of these to try it will be sure to perk your home up!
Dynamic Wall Treatments: A feature wall with a unique design can instantly transform a room. Experiment with unconventional wall treatments such as textured panels, bold wallpapers, or even DIY paint techniques like ombre or color blocking.
Statement Ceilings: Don’t overlook the ceiling! Consider painting it a bold color, adding decorative beams, or installing a unique light fixture to draw the eye upward and add visual interest.
Accent Furniture: Add a touch of personality with statement furniture pieces, such as an eye-catching coffee table, a colorful armchair, or an artistic sideboard. These items can serve as focal points and elevate the overall aesthetic.
Mixing Old and New: Blend vintage or antique pieces with contemporary furniture and décor to create a timeless look. Combining different eras can give your space character and a curated feel.
Artistic Murals: Commission a mural or create your own to add a unique, personal touch to a wall. Artistic murals can serve as conversation starters and bring a creative element to your space.
Bold Rugs: Use oversized or boldly patterned rugs to define areas within open-plan spaces. A striking rug can anchor a room and add a pop of color or pattern to otherwise neutral decor.
Interactive Decor: Incorporate decor elements that engage the senses, such as textured wall hangings, scented

Welcome to the Country Proud Living Podcast, I am your host LoriLynn! When was the last time you tried something new?!? Today on the pod I am providing 5 reasons why it’s time to try some things you’ve never done before! You’ll Be Happier and More Positive Trying new things can certainly be fun, but it has actually proven that it makes you happier and more optimistic. That’s because when you try new things, your body produces and releases dopamine and serotonin—two feel-good hormones that spark pleasure and motivation and reduce anxiety. You’ll Renew Motivation and Inspiration Feeling inspired and energized isn’t just for creatives. Without it, life can feel dull and even pointless. As mentioned above, trying new things releases dopamine, which in part drives motivation. You’ll Be a More Well-Rounded Person Who’s the most interesting person at social events? The one with the stories, of course! The more new things you try, the more you can share about your adventures and lessons learned and potentially spark a meaningful connection. You’ll See How Other People Live Every time you travel somewhere new, try a new foods, or learn a new tradition, you’re experiencing how other people in other parts of the world live their life. Expanding your knowledge, you learn how other people live and why, your perspective on life starts to shift. You Get to Know Yourself Better If experience is the best teacher, then actually experiencing things is the only way to learn. You’ll never know if you never try it. Trying something new might even leave you so surprised by how much you loved it.

Welcome to the Country Proud Living Podcast!I'm your host, LoriLynn. Today, we’re diving into finding "hidden time" to make 2025 your best year yet! Here’s a quick breakdown:
Audit Your Current Schedule: Find the gaps by tracking your time for 1-2 days. Look for "time drains" like social media scrolling, and reclaim those moments for productivity.
Prioritize Like a Pro: Focus on what needs to get done to make tomorrow easier. Identifying key tasks brings clarity and reveals hidden time.
Mini-Routines for Efficiency: Batch similar tasks to save time and reduce decision fatigue. Streamline your day with simple morning and evening routines.
Time Block for Flexibility: Block out focused work periods to create both structure and personal time. This balance is key to nurturing yourself.
Leverage “Hidden” Time: Use micro-moments (like waiting in line) for self-care or planning 2025 goals. These little pockets add up!
Boundaries to Reclaim Time: Say "no" to commitments that don’t align with your goals. Freeing up even one unnecessary task each week opens up precious time.
Schedule Rest & Recharge: Downtime in your cozy retreat boosts creativity, focus, and productivity. Remember, it’s about being intentional, not just busy.
You’ve got this! Use these tips to feel more empowered and nurture your home life while reducing stress. Let’s thrive in 2025 together!

If you follow these 5 simple tips it will keep your holidays stress free at least for decorating, the rest of the holidays my previous episodes can help with dealing with family and boundaries and other topics that tend to come up this time of year whether we are ready or not! ; )
Keep It Simple:
Focus on a few key areas to decorate, like a fireplace mantel, entryway, or dining table, to avoid overwhelm.
I emphasize quality over quantity—simple greenery, candles, and lights can go a long way.
Incorporate Nature:
Using natural elements like pinecones, evergreen sprigs, or dried oranges for a rustic, create an elevated and timeless look, while being economical too!
Natural touches not only look beautiful but also connect us to the outdoors, a grounding element during a busy season.
