22 Jan 2021WandaVision: MCU Powerhouse Elizabeth Olsen Once "Felt Very Stupid" for Wanting to Act - Collider Ladies Night00:39:26

As much as I enjoy discussing current success on Collider Ladies Night - especially when it’s a standout new series like WandaVision - I find that one of the most exciting components of the conversation is the part that focuses on someone’s experience breaking into the industry and the earliest stages of honing their craft, because every path is different. We’ve done dozens of episodes of Ladies Night at this point, highlighting a whole bunch of unique experiences that hopefully all add up to convey that you can achieve your dream in a way that’s true to you. And it turns out, I’ve got another prime example of that right here with Elizabeth Olsen’s episode of the show.

Hear all about Olsen's earliest experiences breaking into the industry, how things changed after Martha Marcy May Marlene, how she scored her first blockbuster roles in Godzilla and Avengers: Age of Ultron, what it was like making WandaVision, working with Sam Raimi on Doctor Stranger in the Multiverse of Madness and so much more!

Katherine Langford has already accomplished quite a bit since 13 Reasons Why arrived on Netflix in 2017, making her a household name and earning her a Golden Globe nomination. Now she adds yet another wildly impressive title to her resume with the release of Spontaneous. The movie marks Brian Duffield’s feature directorial debut and stars Langford as Mara, a high school senior who manages to find love right when her classmates start exploding. Collider Ladies Night is all about paving the way from a creator’s earliest dreams and successes to their latest achievements, so who better to guest on the show than Julia Stiles? 13 May 2022The Wilds Interview: Reign Edwards on the Loss of Nora and Rachel’s Hand00:29:20

With a new season of The Wilds now available to stream on Prime Video, it’s time for a brand new episode of Collider Ladies Night with one of the show’s hugely talented cast members. We were lucky enough to have Mia Healey on for Season 1, and now it’s time to put the spotlight on Reign Edwards for Season 2!

Edwards’ Rachel is central to one of Season 1’s biggest cliffhangers. After finally getting to a better place and heading back into the water, Rachel is attacked by a shark in the finale episode. Not only does she lose her hand during the encounter, but she also loses her sister, Nora (Helena Howard).

It’s hard to imagine much bigger character challenges to tackle for an actor, but Edwards was ready for it. During our Collider Ladies Night conversation, we retraced her steps in the industry which revealed a few key influences and production experiences that gave her the tools she needed to tackle such deeply emotional material with great nuance and heart.

Check out what she told us about The Wilds Season 2, The Bold and the Beautiful, MacGyver, and more on this edition of Collider Ladies Night!

16 Aug 2020‘Lovecraft Country’: Wunmi Mosaku on Her Journey From ‘Annie’ Fan to Starring in HBO’s Bold New Series00:40:14
It’s Lovecraft Country premiere day! I’m quite psyched for this especially powerful and bold show to get out into the world, but the show’s big debut is also the perfect reason to shine a light on the incredible Wunmi Mosaku. I had the pleasure of chatting with Mosaku in January at the Sundance Film Festival for her stellar upcoming feature release, His House, and if you couldn’t already tell from the title of that article, I’m a big fan and think it’s only a matter of until she becomes a household name. With that in mind, it’s probably no surprise that I was beyond thrilled to have Mosaku as a guest on Collider Ladies Night to learn more about her sources of inspiration and her journey to Lovecraft Country. We discussed a little of everything including her early passion for Annie, her experience studying at The Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, what it was like working with Zack Snyder on Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and more before making our way to her new HBO show. Check it all out in this edition of Collider Ladies Night!

13 Aug 2021Fear Street's Olivia Scott Welch Discusses Lessons Learned Making the Hit Netflix Trilogy00:44:31

Olivia Scott Welch is having quite the year. Not only did she headline the Amazon series Panic, she’s also part of the cast of one of the biggest releases of 2021, Netflix’s Fear Street trilogy. Welch first appears in Fear Street 1994 as Sam, a high school student who finds herself right smack in the middle of the Shadyside curse. Then, in Fear Street 1666, Welch plays Hannah Miller, the local pastor’s daughter who’s accused of witchcraft alongside Sarah Fier (Kiana Madeira).

It’s a phenomenal trilogy that celebrates genre through the years while also delivering a powerful narrative about being labeled an outcast and introducing the world to a downright stellar ensemble of young stars that are bound to continue to deliver big in film and television - Welch included.

With the expectation that Fear Street enthusiasm will remain sky high - yes, I’m one of the ones happy to call the films instant classics - having the two stars on Collider Ladies Night was an absolute must. We shared the conversation with Madeira a couple of weeks back and now it’s time to put Welch in the Ladies Night spotlight.

Hear all about Welch's experience working with Madeira and director Leigh Janiak on Fear Street, her earliest sources of inspiration, how it felt when her Nickelodeon pilot, The Dunes Club, didn’t get picked up and so much more on this edition of Collider Ladies Night!

20 Dec 2021Mackenzie Davis Career Interview: From Breathe In to HBO Max's Station Eleven00:45:47

Mackenzie Davis has been a favorite for a good while now, but it’s especially exciting to see her filmography continue to grow with such a wide variety of projects, working with some of the most striking voices in the industry. Now that resume grows with HBO Max’s extremely stirring adaption of Emily St. John Mandel’s novel, Station Eleven, from showrunner Patrick Somerville with episodes directed by Hiro Murai, Jeremy Podeswa, Helen Shaver and Lucy Tcherniak.

The story begins with the world on the cusp of a significant flu outbreak. The pandemic devastates civilization, completely obliterating the technology we rely on and our way of life in general. Twenty years in the future, Davis’ character, Kirsten, is part of the Traveling Symphony, a group of actors and musicians who travel the region performing Shakespeare for various communities. Even though the group seems to have found great purpose in this new world, an unexpected encounter challenges them to reconsider what to hold onto from the path and how best to create a new future.

With Station Eleven in the midst of its rollout on HBO Max, Davis joined us for an episode of Collider Ladies Night to talk about the mini-series and also to revisit the path she took to get there. Hear all about Davis' experience booking Drake Doremus' Breathe In, working with Ridley Scott on The Martian, making Station Eleven and so much more in this interview!

26 Dec 2020Alison Brie Breaks Down Her Career from Hannah Montana and Community to GLOW and Happiest Season00:42:06

I’m truly utterly delighted by every single episode of Collider Ladies Night that I’m lucky enough to do, but Alison Brie has to get some sort of bonus points for the downright adorable cat cameos and ranking the Scream movies with me. And to think, that only covered a small fraction of our chat!

Brie’s accomplished quite a bit since making her TV debut in Hannah Montana back in 2006, enjoying many seasons with Community and Mad Men, scoring two Screen Actors Guild nominations for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Comedy Series for her work on Netflix’s GLOW, and appearing in a slew of stellar films, personal favorites being Scream 4, The Kings of Summer and now Hulu’s Happiest Season, just to name a few. She truly never slowed down since the moment she started and that was by design.

Hear all about how Brie carved her path to GLOW and Happiest Season in this installment of Collider Ladies Night!

24 Feb 2020Elisabeth Moss Talks Invisible Man, Horror and More on Collider Ladies Night00:25:51
Elisabeth Moss is on another level. Perhaps this is old news after projects like Mad Men, Top of the Lake and Handmaid’s Tale, just to name a few, but I recently got a double dose of Moss watching her in Shirley and then The Invisible Man soon after, so I was floored by her talent all over again. She’s an absolute powerhouse in Shirley as Shirley Jackson which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival and scored distribution via Neon, but right now the spotlight is on The Invisible Man which hits theaters nationwide on February 28th.Moss leads the film as Cecilia, a woman caught in an abusive relationship with wealthy scientist Adrian Griffin (Oliver Jackson-Cohen). She manages to escape with her life, but Adrian has left her with some severe emotional scars. When she learns Adrian opted to take his own life, some of the weight lifts but soon after, Cecilia grows suspicious of whether or not Adrian is really gone and becomes convinced that he’s found a way to make himself invisible and continue to torment her. Collider Ladies Night is all about putting the spotlight on some of the best of the best, covering how they found their place in the industry and how they’re changing it for the better so Moss was an obvious pick for the show. During our conversation, she spoke about making the pivot from dance to acting, what experience shaped her the most as an actor, her cats who actually have their own IMDb pages, and so much more!#ElisabethMoss #InvisibleMan

29 Sep 2021Vanessa Hudgens Interview: Her Evolution from High School Music to “Gritty, Hard Parts"00:33:14

Vanessa Hudgens has achieved quite a bit over the years, but her latest accomplishment marks a very big first, something she’s been eager to do for a good while now — voice a character in an animated feature.

Hudgens is the voice behind Sunny in My Little Pony: A New Generation. She's an Earth Pony who’s determined to find a way to bring the Earth Ponies, Unicorns and Pegasi together again. Trouble is, each species lives separately and has allowed false assumptions, fear and mistrust to continue to drive them apart. However, with the help of a few new friends — Unicorn Izzy (Kimiko Glenn), Pegasi Pipp (Sofia Carson) and Zipp (Liza Koshy), and fellow Earth Pony Hitch (James Marsden) — Sunny might finally be able to bring them all together and restore magic to Equestria in the process.

With My Little Pony: A New Generation now available to stream on Netflix, Hudgens joined us for an episode of Collider Ladies Night to retrace her steps from her earliest credits to her first animated feature. We discussed the High School Musical films, Zack Snyder’s Sucker Punch, Lin Manuel-Miranda’s feature directorial debut Tick, Tick... Boom!, and so much more!

07 May 2020Collider Ladies Night - Malin Akerman on To the Stars, Watchmen, and the Joys of Tom Cruise00:40:43
If you caught the clip we recently shared from this episode of Collider Ladies Night, you know that it took Malin Akerman some time to start carving her own path in the industry. She said, “I was truly a follower,” and that she took whatever came her way. But now she's using that past experience to take hold of career, to take projects that speak to her creatively and also to change Hollywood for the better. And that right there makes her the perfect guest for Collider Ladies Night.Akerman's resume includes a little bit of everything from comedies like The Heartbreak Kid and Couples Retreat to big budget studio films like Watchmen, acclaimed shows like Billions, and so much more. The latest to join that growing list? To the Stars, a coming-of-age drama that takes place in 1960s Oklahoma. It stars Kara Hayward as Iris Deerborne, a school outcast who finally makes a friend when Liana Liberato's Maggie Richmond moves to town. At first, it's a dream come true; Maggie showers Iris in nothing but love and support while trying to play catch-up on all the school fun Iris missed out on. The closer they grow, the more they realize how much they really do need each other to break through external pressures and embrace who they really are.Akerman's work on To the Stars playing Maggie's mother may be all wrapped up now that the movie is available to watch On Demand, but that certainly doesn't mean things are slowing down for Akerman whatsoever. She's got two other films cooking, and she's not just acting in them; she's producing them as well! Akerman is making the move behind the lens for Nicol Paone's feature directorial debut, Friendsgiving, and she's also getting her hands dirty in Chick Fight, which Akerman described as Bridesmaids meets Fight Club.Want to take a walk down memory lane with Akerman and hear all about her journey from wanting to be a child psychologist to her first acting gigs, the lessons learned from working on Watchmen, her future goals, and so much more? We've got you covered with this new episode of Collider Ladies Night!

01 Oct 2020Geraldine Viswanathan on Going from Blockers “Wild Card” to Broken Hearts Top Billing - Collider Ladies Night00:46:20
Geraldine Viswanathan broke out big time with Blockers in 2018 and even though that was her very first major Hollywood production, her talent was already undeniable. Cut to 2020 and the release of her newest feature, The Broken Hearts Gallery. Again, it was already abundantly clear that Viswanathan was mighty talented, but Broken Hearts Gallery shows off next-level comedic sensibilities, confidence and the commanding screen presence necessary to lead a feature. Viswanathan set the bar pretty high right out the gate with Blockers, but watching her hone those skills as she moves from project to project solidifies her boundless potential.Check out this edition of Collider Ladies Night to hear all about her earliest inspirations, booking Blockers, working with Hugh Jackman and Allison Janney on Bad Education, jumping into her first drama for Hala, her run on the TBS series Miracle Workers, and so much more!

01 Sep 2020Rachael Leigh Cook Discusses Her Journey from She’s All That to Netflix - Collider Ladies Night00:48:57
Rachael Leigh Cook was one of my absolute favorites growing up. The Baby-Sitters Club, All I Wanna Do and She’s All That were basically on repeat in my house. As thrilled as I was to get to revisit memories from those productions during this edition of Collider Ladies Nights, one of the greatest joys of this conversation with Cook for her new Netflix release, Love, Guaranteed, was hearing about what Cook learned from all of those experiences and how it all landed her in a place where she has a degree of control over the content she’s making.Check out this edition of Collider Ladies Night to hear all about how Cook's collaboration with Crown Media and The Hallmark Channel wound up being a game changer, what it was like working on the “This Is Your Brain on Drugs” PSAs, a key conversation she had with The Baby-Sitters Club director Melanie Mayron, how her audition for Can’t Hardly Wait paved the way to Josie and the Pussycats, and so much more.

02 Jun 2021WandaVision Interview: Teyonah Parris on Monica’s Powers, Advice from Anthony Mackie and More!00:54:45

Scoring a role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe was a long time coming for Teyonah Parris. While on Collider Ladies Night, Parris revealed that WandaVision wasn’t the first MCU project she put herself on tape for. In fact, she’s been making tapes for Marvel for roughly a decade now. But perhaps one could say snagging the role of Monica Rambeau was well worth the wait. Not only did Parris wind up playing a character who shines in Marvel’s very first Disney+ series, but Monica also appears to have a mighty bright future in the franchise. On top of that? Pre-WandaVision, Parris was still busy wracking up one impressive credit after the next including Chi-Raq, Survivor’s Remorse and so much more!

We did get the chance to touch on a whole bunch of those non-MCU titles in this episode of Collider Ladies Night but, of course, we had to put a good deal of the spotlight on Parris’ work as Monica in WandaVision, beginning with her audition for the role. Check out what she had to say about that, some of Monica’s biggest scenes in WandaVision and so much more in this edition of Collider Ladies Night!

04 Feb 2022Taissa Farmiga's Journey from a Much Needed Nudge from Her Sister Vera to HBO's The Gilded Age00:41:05

I’ve been lucky enough to cross paths with Taissa Farmiga quite a bit over the years for interviews, but a Collider Ladies Night conversation is different. Farmiga’s had a one-of-a-kind journey in this industry and during our 40-minute chat, we covered as much of it as possible leading up to her latest project, the HBO series, The Gilded Age

From Downton Abbey creator Julian Fellowes, The Gilded Age kicks off in the United States in 1882, a time that involved a significant conflict between old money and new ways of amassing enormous fortunes. In the Upper East Side of New York City, the former group includes the Van Rhijn household, led by Christine Baranski’s Agnes van Rhijn. Agnes holds tight to the past and keeps an eye out for newcomers who don’t belong, like her new neighbors the Russells.

That’s where we meet Farmiga’s character, Gladys Russell. She’s the teenage daughter of George (Morgan Spector) and Bertha (Carrie Coon). At this point, Gladys should have made her society debut, but Bertha refuses to let Gladys out of lockdown until she can fill her massive ballroom for the occasion. Trouble is, given that the Russells are new to the area, Bertha is finding it rather difficult to earn a place in the local elite social circle.

During our Collider Ladies Night chat, we discussed when her sister, Vera Farmiga, encouraged her to join the cast of her directorial debut, Higher Ground, what it was like joining the ensemble of American Horror Story, how she scored her role in The Gilded Age and so much more!

29 Aug 2020Cobra Kai’s Mary Mouser Takes Us From Signs to Karate Kid Franchise - Collider Ladies Night00:48:14
Mary Mouser has built up quite the resume over the years, but there’s no denying that Cobra Kai is a special one. Not only is the show a phenomenal continuation of the classic Karate Kid film, but it’s also a series that’s amassed quite the fanbase over the course of its two-season run on YouTube. The Cobra Kai fandom is a mighty passionate group and I’ve got a very good feeling that fandom is going to get even bigger courtesy of the shift to Netflix. Mouser steps in as Samantha LaRusso, Daniel La Russo’s (Ralph Macchio) daughter. Dad did teach her a thing or two about karate when Samantha was young, but as a teenager, she got a bit distracted by the high school social scene. However, when Sam falls for Johnny Lawrence’s (William Zabka) star student at the revived Cobra Kai, she finds herself being drawn back into the world of competitive karate. With Cobra Kai Seasons 1 and 2 hitting Netflix on August 28th, Mouser took the time to join us for an episode of Collider Ladies Night to talk about her journey from being Abigail Breslin's photo double on the movie Signs to joining the Karate Kid franchise!

21 Nov 2021Rosamund Pike Interview: How Gone Girl "Let Out the Crazy" and Why She Needed Wheel of Time's Moiraine Right Now00:25:06

Rosamund Pike has accomplished quite a bit over the years. She joined the James Bond film franchise, was nominated for an Academy Award for her work in Gone Girl, scored the Emmy for Outstanding Actress in a Short Form Comedy or Drama Series for her performance in State of the Union, delivered exceptional work in Hostiles, A Private War, I Care a lot and so much more. But even with all of that, Amazon’s The Wheel of Time marks a major first for Pike — it’s her very first time leading a live-action series.

She stars as Moiraine, a member of the Aes Sedai, a group of women with the ability to wield the “One Power.” Men are forbidden from channeling this magic because all previous attempts have had devastating results. Now, Moiraine is on the hunt for the Dragon Reborn, an extremely powerful individual prophesized to save or destroy the world. She comes to suspect that the Dragon Reborn is one of five people living in the small town of Two Rivers - Rand al'Thor (Josha Stradowski), Perrin Aybara (Marcus Rutherford), Egwene al'Vere (Madeleine Madden), Mat Cauthon (Barney Harris) or Nynaeve al'Meara (Zoë Robins). The first season covers Moiraine’s attempt to lead them on a treacherous trek back to the Aes Sedai home base, the White Tower in Tar Valon.

With the first three episodes of The Wheel of Time now available to watch, Pike joined us for an episode of Collider Ladies Night to celebrate the show and to revisit her journey from first getting discovered at the National Youth Theatre to headlining a blockbuster-level Amazon series.

Check out was Pike had to say about Die Another Day, Gone Girl, Doom, The Wheel of Time and so much more on this edition of Collider Ladies Night!

When you look at what Victoria Pedretti managed to accomplish in just three years, hopes for what she’ll achieve in the years to come are through the roof. Pedretti burst onto the scene in a big way with the release of The Haunting of Hill House back in 2018. After that, she joined another red hot Netflix series, playing Love on Season 2 of You. 23 Sep 2021Dear Evan Hansen: Kaitlyn Dever on What Made Ben Platt the Ideal Scene Partner00:30:54

It’s always a delight chatting with Kaitlyn Dever, but it was especially exciting to finally welcome her to Collider Ladies Night! Dever is currently celebrating the release of Dear Evan Hansen this weekend, but she’s had an especially exciting and very busy journey to this highly anticipated film.

The movie is the big screen adaptation of the Tony Award winning musical that sees Ben Platt returning to the title role. Evan Hansen is a high school student struggling with anxiety. His therapist suggests he write letters to himself, but one day, a troubled, school outcast named Connor (Colton Ryan) takes one of those personal and very private letters. Soon after, Connor takes his own life and when Connor’s mother (Amy Adams) finds Evan’s letter, she assumes Connor wrote it to Evan and that they were close friends. Evan plays along and perpetuates the lie in an attempt to ease her pain, and do the same for Connor's sister, Zoe (Dever), as well.

During our Collider Ladies Night conversation, Dever took some time to revisit the beginnings of her career and offer some insight into how her hopes and expectations for “making it” in the industry have changed. Check out this edition of Ladies Night to hear all about some of her earliest auditions, including Justified, what it was like working with Kathryn Bigelow on Detroit, what made Ben Platt a standout scene partner on Dear Evan Hansen and loads more!

17 Sep 2021Sex Education 3: Aimee Lou Wood Shares the Vital Advice for Doing Sex Scenes00:35:28

Sex Education is a must-watch show and Aimee Lou Wood is a must-follow rising star in it. The Netflix series focuses on a group of students at Moordale Secondary School trying to figure out how to fit in, grow up and find themselves. One of the most beautiful things about the show is that it features a diverse cast and explores a wide variety of very human challenges with humor, heart and pathos.

Wood’s character, Aimee, begins her Sex Education journey by figuring out who her true friends are in Season 1. Wood is a scene stealer in the role right out the gate, but the work she delivers the following season is on another level. In Season 2, Aimee is sexually assaulted and the way the show explores how one might process such an experience is incredibly layered and powerful. Rather than keep the storyline confined to an episode or two, Sex Education recognizes the fact that such trauma isn’t something one can quickly leave behind. In Season 3, Aimee is still working to understand the incident and its effects on her with Wood continuing to bring that story to life on screen with such sincerity and nuance.

Check out this edition of Collider Ladies Night to hear all about Wood's experience studying at RADA, how she scored the role of Aimee on Sex Education, lessons learned from the show's intimacy coordinators, what it was like winning a BAFTA, where she thinks Aimee's head is at at the end of Sex Education Season 3, and so much more!

13 Feb 2022Sarah Silverman Interview: Her Journey from Saturday Night Live to Marry Me00:28:05

Sarah Silverman’s had a one-of-a-kind journey in this industry, making the most of the exceptional comedic chops that have been on display since day one and also building on that skill set more and more with each new project. With her newest feature film, Marry Me, now in theaters and available to stream on Peacock, Silverman took the time to join us for an episode of Collider Ladies Night to retrace her steps from her earliest inspirations to her latest releases.

As for Marry Me, that one stars Jennifer Lopez as Kat Valdez, a music superstar who’s also a power couple with the hugely popular Bastian (Maluma). Just before getting married in front of a massive concert crowd, Kat comes to learn that Bastian’s been cheating on her. She goes back out on stage anyway and spirals, making the impulsive decision to marry someone in the audience instead — Owen Wilson’s Charlie Gilbert. The spontaneous stunt turns into so much more when the two really do develop feelings for one another. But, can the connection last when they come from such different worlds?

Check out this edition of Collider Ladies Night to hear all about why Silverman chose work over college, her one-year run on Saturday Night Live, why Sarah Polley's Take This Waltz made such a big impression on her, what wowed her most while watching Lopez work, and so much more!

18 Dec 2021The Witcher Interview: Anya Chalotra Recalls the Day on Set She Thought "I Can’t Do This"00:20:59

No, Yennefer didn’t have peak confidence all throughout Season 1 of The Witcher, but Anya Chalotra seemed to be oozing with it while playing the character. However, while on an episode of Collider Ladies Night in celebration of the launch of Season 2 of the hit Netflix series, Chalotra admitted that wasn’t really the case. In fact, there was a point during the filming of Season 1 when she had to call a mentor for help.

For about half of the season, Yennefer is a young woman struggling with a curved spine and facial paralysis who’s often ridiculed. When it’s discovered that Yennefer has magical abilities, she’s taken to Aretuza to study to become a mage. After much struggle, Yennefer not only ascends but also insists that the Aretuza enchanter change her physical differences. He does and she’s reborn, stepping back out into the world buzzing with power and confidence.

Prior to The Witcher, Chalotra’s screen credits were limited to the drama series Wanderlust and the BBC One mystery mini series The ABC Murders. The Witcher was on another level. During our Ladies Night chat, Chalotra highlighted one key piece of advice she received when making the leap to such a substantial production.

Hear all about that, what it was like filming Yen's most pivotal scenes of the new season and so much more on this episode of Collider Ladies Night!

20 May 2022Everything Everywhere All At Once Interview: Stephanie Hsu00:43:49

Everything Everywhere All At Once is changing the game in a very big way for breakout star Stephanie Hsu.

No synopsis can do the full film justice, but just in case you’ve yet to experience the phenomenon, Everything Everywhere All At Once focuses on Michelle Yeoh’s Evelyn Wang, a woman struggling to keep her family’s laundromat afloat with her husband, Waymond (Ke Huy Quan). Evelyn is so wrapped up in that, filing her taxes, and her father’s (James Hong) arrival from China that she fails to notice how much her daughter Joy (Hsu) really needs her. As though things couldn’t get more complicated, in comes another version of her husband, Waymond from the “Alphaverse.” The multiverse is in danger, and he thinks that Evelyn has the power to save it.

Everything Everywhere All At Once began racking up positive reviews out of its SXSW world premiere and gained even more before hitting theaters on March 25th. From there, the film's star continued to soar, inspiring many to give this wacky multiverse adventure oozing with heart a go. In fact, it’s currently getting mighty close to becoming A24’s highest-grossing release at the domestic box office. It’s a marvel of a movie that could and should continue to make waves through 2022.

Admittedly, I was a little late to the game on Everything Everywhere All At Once, only catching the film two weeks into its theatrical release, but you can bet the first thing I did when I got home from the screening was send the necessary emails to get Stephanie Hsu on an episode of Collider Ladies Night.

Check out this episode of the show to hear all about Hsu's journey from thinking she'd stick to experimental theater to booking roles in The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and Everything Everywhere All at once!

09 Sep 2021Fear Street's Emily Rudd on How She Went From Music Video Star to Netflix Powerhouse00:47:09

This was a very big summer for Emily Rudd. Not only was it announced that she joined the cast of the Amazon series, Hunters, for Season 2 and was set to star in HBO Max’s Moonshot alongside Cole Sprouse and Lana Condor, but her star also soared courtesy of the popularity of Netflix’s Fear Street trilogy.

Rudd first appears in the second film of the series, Fear Street 1978. Cindy Berman is a Shadyside resident determined to leave the troubled town behind despite the fact that her sister Ziggy (Sadie Sink) is convinced there’s nothing they can do -- all Shadysiders are doomed. The reality of their situation comes into focus for Cindy during the summer of 1978 at Camp Nightwing when the Shadyside campers and counselors are targeted by an ax-wielding killer.

Given my confidence that Fear Street is bound to become a genre classic and my sky high hopes we’ll be watching Rudd’s work for years to come, having her on an episode of Collider Ladies Night was an absolute must. Check out this chat to hear all about how Rudd got her start with music videos, what the audition process was like for Fear Street, how they pulled off that gnarly Fear Street 1978 ending and so much more!

Leslie Bibb did it. She put in the work, honed her craft, powered through the lows, and now tackles one film or television project after the next. Is it smooth sailing? Not always, but thanks to a journey that included a whole lot of determination and excellent mentorship, Bibb now gets opportunities like God’s Favorite Idiot, a new Netflix series that lets her swing for the fences playing Satan.

04 Jun 2020Collider Ladies Night - Anna Camp on More Pitch Perfect, The Office and Her New Netflix Films00:47:23
Ladies Night with Anna Camp (The Lovebirds, Pitch Perfect, Perfect Harmony, True Blood)It wasn’t until I started prepping for this episode of Collider Ladies Night that I fully realized how much Anna Camp has accomplished over the years and how much she’s contributed to a number of iconic franchises. I have a feeling I’m not alone with this, but I first took note of her work after catching her as Sarah Newlin on True Blood, but in addition to that unforgettable HBO series, Camp has also appeared on The Office, Mad Men, The Good Wife, and then some. And even when it comes to short-lived shows that didn’t get the love they deserved, like let’s say Amazon’s Good Girls Revolt, Camp still delivered material that made a long-lasting impression, with fans still spreading love for the series long after it ended. All of this and we haven’t even mentioned Camp’s work on the big screen yet! Of course the Pitch Perfect franchise made an indelible impression on many, but Camp is currently in the midst of quite the string of new release including two Netflix movies and another feature film that’s bound to show off significant range for the star who’s become extremely well known for her comedy chops, playing big personalities, and also nailing accents.Clearly there’s a lot to cover here so get ready for a very fully episode of Collider Ladies Night! Camp explained why she once thought she’d just stick to the New York theater scene and how her first pilot season changed that dramatically, she recalled her experience auditioning for Mad Men and True Blood, and whether or not there’s interest in making more Pitch Perfect films. On top of that, get ready to hear all about Camp’s new movies including The Lovebirds which you can watch right now on Netflix, Here Awhile which is set to hit VOD on June 9th, and Desperados which is schedule to drop on Netflix on July 3rd.

With Victoria Justice’s new movie Trust now available to watch in select theaters and on PVOD, she took the time to join us for an episode of Collider Ladies Night to revisit some of the most pivotal moments of her career and break down how they paved the way to her latest project.

Justice stars opposite Matthew Daddario in Trust as Brooke and Owen, a married couple who appear to be living the dream. She’s an art gallery owner, he’s a popular news reporter and they’re thrilled to be building a life together. But then doubt starts to creep in in the form of new temptations. For Brooke, it’s Ansgar (Lucien Laviscount) the new artist she signed, a suave painter with a thing for married women, and for Owen it’s Amy (Katherine McNamara), an aspiring journalist and a big fan of his.

For anyone who’s followed Justice’s work, you’re probably sensing that Trust is mighty different from the content that jumpstarted her career. After being a key part of Zoey 101, Justice went on to lead her own Nickelodeon show, Victorious. As one would expect, at a certain age, Justice set her sights on more mature roles to push her craft further. 11 Jun 2021In the Heights Star Leslie Grace on Making the Leap from Music to Film - Collider Ladies Night00:30:16

One of the most staggering things about In the Heights? It’s Leslie Grace’s feature debut. Given all of her accomplishments in the music sphere, one might expect her to nail the song and dance numbers, but she also brings a level of nuance and heart to her performance that feels like a skill learned via a great deal of experience.

Grace plays Nina, a Washington Heights resident who’s returning home after her first year at Stanford University. The whole neighborhood is extremely proud of her and has sky high hopes for everything she’s bound to achieve, but inside, Nina’s struggling and wants to drop out. The pressure Nina is under leaps off the screen courtesy of Grace’s performance and her ability to give the viewer access to the push and pull of Nina’s situation. The motivation is there, but is it enough to overcome the pressure of what it means to be someone who “made it out?”

23 Dec 2020Betsy Brandt on Flexing Her Acting Muscles, Moving from 'Breaking Bad' and 'Magic Mike' to 'Soulmates'00:55:42

Breaking Bad alone shows off Betsy Brandt’s significant range. Marie Schrader added loads of much needed comic relief, but also afforded Brandt the opportunity to excel during some of the show’s darker beats, even making the most of a single reaction shot in the Emmy winning episode, “Ozymandias.” Want even more proof that Brandt can do just about anything? Give her filmography a quick glance beyond Breaking Bad. That line-up includes sitcoms like Life in Pieces and The Michael J. Fox Show, a powerhouse dramatic turn in Claire in Motion, and even film appearances where she contributes by making a single scene unforgettable like in Magic Mike. Hope you're ready for even more proof of Brandt’s range because her Soulmates character experiences quite the arc in the final episode of the season, “The (Power) Ballad of Caitlin Jones.”

Brandt leads as the title character, Caitlin, a woman trapped in a loveless relationship with a guy who walks all over her. In an effort to find “the one,” Caitlin turns to the show’s futuristic dating technology, Soul Connex, a test that pinpoints one’s soulmate with 100% accuracy. That test matches Caitlin with JJ Feild's Nathan, a too-good-to-be-true type who, of course, has a dark side.

With “The (Power) Ballad of Caitlin Jones” airing on AMC on Monday, October 9th, Brandt took the time to join us for an episode of Collider Ladies Night. Hear all about Brandt’s earliest ambitions, how her experience working on Breaking Bad influenced her craft, how she feels about her character’s arc in Soulmates and so much more in this edition of Collider Ladies Night!

11 Apr 2022Jessica Williams’ Journey From Daily Show Correspondent to Wizarding World Witch00:39:55

With Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore due out in theaters on April 15th, Jessica Williams joined us for an episode of Collider Ladies Night to discuss how she went from Daily Show correspondent to picking up the wand and joining the Wizarding World franchise.

After making a brief cameo appearance in The Crimes of Grindelwald, Williams’ Professor Eulalie Hicks becomes a main player in the third film of the Fantastic Beasts series. She’s a charms professor at Ilvermorny School of Witchcraft and Wizardry who has a history with Jude Law’s Albus Dumbledore. When Gellert Grindelwald (Mads Mikkelsen) starts making new moves to assume control of the Wizarding World, Dumbledore knows he won’t be able to stop him alone so assembles a team of the best of the best in an effort to take him down. That team includes someone who’s especially skilled in defensive magic, Williams’ Lally.

Williams’ star soared when she became the youngest Daily Show correspondent in 2012. Talk about a meteoric rise in the Hollywood! Naomi Scott’s star power went through the roof when she was cast in the 2017 Power Rangers movie and since, she’s starred alongside Kristen Stewart in the Charlie’s Angels remake and became a Disney princess courtesy of the live-action Aladdin. 19 Jun 2022Pre-Party: Meet The Summer I Turned Pretty Star Lola Tung00:29:58

If you've binged Prime Video's The Summer I Turned Pretty, I'm willing to bet you want to know everything about the film's star, newcomer Lola Tung! If you fit that description, you've come to the right place. In this episode of Collider Ladies Night Pre-Party, we recap how Tung went from playing the Tin Man in a school production of The Wizard of Oz to headlining the latest Jenny Han adaption for Amazon.

Tung leads the series as Belly, a teenager who always spends her summers at Cousins Beach with her family and their close friends the Fishers. Belly's always been the youngest of the bunch, the little sister to her brother Steven (Sean Kaufman) and also to the Fisher boys, Conrad (Christopher Briney) and Jeremiah (Gavin Casalegno). That kind of connection and coming-of-age awkwardness hasn't done much for Belly's crush on Conrad, but this summer is different. This is the summer Belly "turned pretty."

Check out this The Summer I Turned Pretty interview to get to know Tung and to hear all about her journey from studying drama in school to tackling her very first professional acting gig.

12 Feb 2021Judas and the Black Messiah's Dominique Fishback on Her Path to the Awards Contender00:51:49

Mark my words; Dominique Fishback is going to be a household name very, very soon. (And if I had any say in Oscar nominations, it’d be happening one month from now.) Fishback stars in Shaka King’s Judas and the Black Messiah as Deborah Johnson (now Akua Njeri), a young woman who’s taken by Fred Hampton’s (Daniel Kaluuya) ideology and goals, and also sparks a connection to Chairman Fred on a personal level. While Judas and the Black Messiah well highlights the scope of Chairman Fred’s influence and the great value of his dedication to the movement, it’s through the intimacy of his relationship with Deborah that the film also successfully conveys the personal stakes involved in this fight for freedom.

Ever since chatting with Fishback and a few other members of The Hate U Give ensemble back in 2018, I’ve been eager for a long form conversation with the rising star about her commitment to her craft, and now that Judas and the Black Messiah is available to watch on HBO Max, that time has finally come. Fishback joined us for an episode of Collider Ladies Night and she most certainly didn’t disappoint; her journey is oozing with hard work, passion and gratitude every single step of the way.

24 Jun 2022Sadie Sink Interview: From Broadway Dreams to Stranger Things00:27:53

Sadie Sink’s star is soaring. And it has been ever since Stranger Things 2 hit Netflix in October of 2017. But since, Sink has made the absolute most of every single opportunity to come her way, proving her boundless range and astronomical promise in this industry.

Not only is she a sheer force in her first lead role in a feature film playing Ziggy in Fear Street 1978, but she also shines in Taylor Swift’s All Too Well: The Short Film, will star in Darren Aronofsky’s next film, The Whale, and, to top it all off, she delivers what I truly believe is an Emmy nomination-worthy performance in Stranger Things 4. Sink is a true standout in front of the camera, so it’s shocking to think that there was a time when Sink envisioned her career being solely on the stage, not on screen.

While we wait for Strange Things 4 Volume 2 to drop on Netflix on July 1st, Sink joined me for an episode of Collider Ladies Night to recap her journey from her earliest inspirations to Stranger Things megastar.

Hear all about her time working on the stage, how she made the pivot to screen, what she imagines Max went through between Stranger Things 3 and 4, what it was like filming "Dear Billy," and so much more in this interview!

26 Jun 2022Pre-Party: Meet The Umbrella Academy Star Ritu Arya00:32:12

The cast of Netflix’s The Umbrella Academy was electric in Season 1. One’s got to imagine it’s a challenge to join such an ensemble and encourage the audience to fall for your character just as hard, but Ritu Arya did just that in the second season as Lila Pitts.

When we first meet Lila in the hit Netflix series, her adoptive mother, The Handler (Kate Walsh), has her assisting in her mission to overthrow the authority at The Commission so she can assume control. However, after succeeding in that plan, Lila comes to learn that The Handler is responsible for the murder of her biological mother and stepfather, putting their entire relationship in question. Diego (David Castañeda) and the Umbrellas try to convince Lila that they can be her family, but after The Handler is shot, Lila opts to take off with the briefcase.

Season 3 picks up immediately after the events of Season 2 with the Umbrellas making their way home sweet home to present-day New York — or so they think. Their home now belongs to The Sparrow Academy, an alternative version of their super-powered family. Ultimately, Lila does make her way back to the group to test this notion of family in an unexpected way; she tells Diego that they had a son together, Stanley (Javon Walton).

With The Umbrella Academy Season 3 now available to watch — or, let’s get real, to binge on Netflix, Arya joined us for an episode of Collider Ladies Night Pre-Party to retrace her steps in the industry and discuss how she scored a role on one of the streamer’s hottest shows.

01 Jul 2022Geena Davis Career Interview: Thelma and Louise, The Fly, Beetlejuice and More00:39:33

Geena Davis is a force in this industry. Not only is she a hugely talented Academy Award-winner with a slew of iconic titles on her filmography like Thelma & Louise, A League of Their Own, Beetlejuice, and more, but she’s also actively working to change this industry for the better via the Geena Davis Institute on Gender in Media and also through the Bentonville Film Festival. If that’s not the definition of a perfect guest for Collider Ladies Night, I don’t know what is!

With Bentonville having just celebrated its eighth year, Davis took the time to join me for a Collider Ladies Night interview to revisit some of her past titles and discuss exactly how those experiences sparked the goals she fights for today.

Find out what she had to see about Beetlejuice, Thelma and Louise, and so much more on this edition of Collider Ladies Night!

08 Jul 2022The Boys Season 3 Spoilers with Claudia Doumit: Victoria Neuman’s Complex Internal Conflict00:37:16

Claudia Doumit is on fire as Victoria Neuman in Season 3 of The Boys. She did make a big impression when she was first introduced in Season 2 of the Prime Video series, but we had to wait nearly the entire season to see what Neuman was really capable of. Now, in Season 3, not only is Neuman less secretive about her head-popping ability, but she’s also proving to be one of the most complex characters to track.

Neuman may convey a certain set of goals and values to the public, but deep down, she’s got a top-secret agenda that she’s determined to see through to protect her daughter, Zoe (Olivia Morandin).

You don’t become this skilled at conveying multiple emotions and intentions in a single moment without some serious training and experience, and Doumit has certainly put in the work in that respect. With Season 3 of The Boys now available to stream in its entirety, Doumit joined us for an episode of Collider Ladies Night Pre-Party to recap how she went from getting rejected from acting schools in Australia to starring in one of the hottest shows on Prime Video.

10 Jul 2022Stranger Things: Natalia Dyer Revisits Nancy's Journey from Playing by the Rules to Bravely Facing Danger00:40:29

Stranger Things features a number of powerful character arcs, but a personal favorite of the bunch is Nancy Wheeler’s evolution from timid student finding her way in the high school social scene to a sheer force who’s willing to throw herself into danger to fight for her loved ones. That epic transformation is exactly what we break down in this new edition of Collider Ladies Night with Nancy Wheeler herself, Natalia Dyer.

In Season 1 of Stranger Things, Nancy is inspired to step up and face the Upside Down after Barb’s (Shannon Purser) disappearance. It’s a mighty powerful early point of change for the character, and it's something that the Duffer Brothers continued to build upon as Nancy’s circle of loved ones grew and as the threat of the Upside Down intensified. Throughout much of Season 2, Nancy teams with Jonathan (Charlie Heaton) to expose Hawkins Lab, and then in Season 3, she applies that tenacity to overcoming intense disrespect from the staff of the Hawkins Post to see an investigation through that proves vital to battling the Mind Flayer.

As we see in Stranger Things 4, Episode 9, “The Piggyback,” every single character proves vital to the plan to defeat Vecna (Jamie Campbell Bower), but Nancy in particular shows off an especially essential ability to assess the threat and figure out what's necessary to power through the mission, a quality that will undoubtedly be crucial to saving Hawkins in the show’s final season.

Hear all about Dyer's journey from discovering her passion for acting to becoming a Netflix powerhouse on this episode of Collider Ladies Night!

14 Jul 2022Jenny Slate Interview: From SNL & Big Terrific to Marcel the Shell with Shoes On00:32:47

Jenny Slate, Dean Fleischer Camp, and Nick Paley did it. They took the 2010 internet sensation, Marcel the Shell with Shoes On the short film, and expanded the concept into a full feature. And they didn’t just figure out a way to make it work. They crafted a deeply moving exploration of connection and community, far exceeding expectations and delivering a film that’s currently a favorite of 2022.

In the new movie, Marcel, a talking shell with shoes on voiced by Slate, is living with his Nana Connie (voiced by Isabella Rossellini) in a home being used as an Airbnb. They used to be part of a thriving community there, but their loved ones vanished, challenging Marcel and Connie to figure out how to survive on their own as tiny shells in a big house while also coping with their loss. However, when a documentary filmmaker (Camp) moves in, Marcel winds up with an unexpected opportunity to try to track down their loved ones.

With Marcel the Shell with Shoes On getting an expanded theatrical release on July 15th, I got the chance to chat with Slate about the movie and so much more during an episode of Collider Ladies Night.

04 Aug 2022Pre-Party: Meet Paper Girls Star Sofia Rosinsky00:24:58

Sofia Rosinsky delivers a true one-of-a-kind performance as Mac Coyle in the Prime Video adaptation of Paper Girls.

Mac is the very first paperboy in Stony Stream who’s not, well, a boy. Now there’s also Camryn Jones’ Tiff, Fina Strazza’s KJ, and the newest papergirl, Riley Lai Nelet’s Erin. Their paths collide in the wee hours of the morning on November 1, 1988, aka Hell Day. The hours after Halloween can get quite rowdy, but Mac, Tiff, KJ, and Erin have a rather unusual experience after encountering some bullies. After the incident, they wind up time traveling to 2019.

Paper Girls features A+ casting across the board, but Rosinsky’s performance, in particular, feels so incredibly specific to her skillset and her interpretation of the character that it’s impossible to imagine anyone else bringing Mac to life with such personality and color. It’s quite the achievement for an actor who’s just 16 years old, and it’s something that signifies that whatever that “special something” is, Rosinsky has it.

Hear all about how Rosinsky's inspired by Alec Guinness, how her version of Mac evolved from audition to finished show, what she appreciated most about working with Strazza, Jones, and Nelet, her hopes for Mac in Season 2, and so much more on this edition of Collider Ladies Night Pre-Party!

06 Aug 2022Zoey Deutch Interview: The Positives of Method Acting, Her Producing Goals and Not Okay00:37:49

Zoey Deutch has been busy carving her own path in this industry for years now, and it’s something special. Not only has she racked up credits that highlight her greatest strengths while also showing off her range in front of the lens, but she’s also put a considerable about of time into building her behind-the-scenes resume as well. In fact, her third film serving as a producer is now available to stream on Hulu. It’s Not Okay.

Deutch also stars in the film as Danni Sanders. When the movie begins, Danni’s having a rough go of it in a number of respects. She’s an aspiring writer who isn’t really excelling at the craft, she’s got no social life, and she’s struggling to build a social media presence. Desperate to make some improvements online, Danni decides to pretend she’s been sent on a trip to Paris, Photoshopping photos from her Brooklyn apartment to gain Instagram followers. Perhaps it can be considered a somewhat harmless lie until Paris suffers an attack and Danni is labeled a hero when she “returns." Rather than fess up and admit the truth, Danni gets caught up in finally having an audience, and continues to present herself as an influencer, advocate, and survivor.

It’s a bold film that demands everyone involved, but especially Deutch, go full force in depicting this despicable spiral of lies. How exactly does one build the skillset, courage, and know-how to jump into such a project as a producer and a headliner? That’s exactly what we covered with Deutch on a brand new episode of Collider Ladies Night.

Check out this conversation to hear all about Deutch's experience overcoming Vampire Academy's disappointing reception, the very different but equally memorable experiences she had working with Mark Rylance on The Outfit and Jesse Eisenberg on Zombieland: Double Tap, what her primary goals are as a producer, and so much more!

08 Aug 2022Pre-Party: Meet Bodies Bodies Bodies Star Myha'la Herrold00:25:35

Myha’la Herrold is on the rise in a big way. Not only is she making waves on HBO’s Industry, but she’s also an absolute powerhouse in A24’s latest release, Bodies Bodies Bodies directed by Halina Reijn.

The movie covers what happens when a group of friends opts to ride out a hurricane by throwing a party at a secluded family mansion. During that party, they play a game — Bodies Bodies Bodies. It’s basically an imposter game like Among Us. One member of the group is secretly dubbed the killer and the rest of the players have to figure who that is before they can kill off the entire group. The girls can get pretty vicious, so perhaps it’s never just a game for them, but things do get especially intense when one player turns up real dead, not game dead.

With Bodies Bodies Bodies now playing in select theaters and set for a nationwide expansion on August 12th, Herrold joined us for an episode of Collider Ladies Night Pre-Party to explain how she went from theater-focused to on-screen star.

Hear all about the vital lessons learned from her worst audition, booking HBO's Industry, embracing the frenetic energy of Bodies Bodies Bodies, and so much more in this episode of Collider Ladies Night!

13 Aug 2022Rachel Sennott Interview: Stand-up, Pete Davidson and Bodies Bodies Bodies00:31:02

You better start catching up on Rachel Sennott’s work now because she’s amassing must-see credits fast, and with her drive to explore multiple corners of this industry, that list is bound to continue growing at a rip-roaring pace.

Sennott first gained notoriety through comedy, specifically in the stand-up and social media spheres. Her star soared in film with the release of Shiva Baby in 2020, which earned her a number of accolades including a nomination for Breakthrough Performer at the Gotham Awards. Now, in her latest release, A24’s Bodies Bodies Bodies, Sennott stands out big time in an all-around stellar ensemble, showing off such pitch-perfect line delivery, timing, and improv skills that it's undeniable that nobody could have played the role of Alice quite like she does.

The film focuses on a group of friends riding out a hurricane by partying at a secluded family mansion. At one point, they decide to play Bodies Bodies Bodies. Similar to games like Among Us, one person is labeled the killer and the rest have to figure out who that is before they can kill off the other players. The game is especially vicious right off the bat courtesy of the mix of big personalities, building tensions and toxicity, but that intensity soars above and beyond what any of them could have imagined when one player turns up real dead, not game dead.

With Bodies Bodies Bodies now playing in theaters nationwide, Sennott took the time to join us for an episode of Collider Ladies Night to discuss how she carved her own unique path from dreaming of becoming an actor to being a downright powerhouse in A24’s latest.

24 Sep 2021Midnight Mass: Kate Siegel Explains How She Met Mike Flanagan00:33:29

I’ve been a massive fan of Kate Siegel’s since 2016's Hush and that enthusiasm for her talent has only grown since the release of The Haunting of Hill House, The Haunting of Bly Manor and now Midnight Mass. Given how much I admire her work, it was the ultimate treat to have Siegel on Collider Ladies Night to learn more about how she got started in the industry and how her craft evolved from project to project.

Siegel plays Erin Greene in Midnight Mass. She grew up in the small, isolated community on Crockett Island, but ultimately made the move to the mainland. However, she eventually comes to decide it’s best if she returned to Crockett to build a new life for herself and for her baby-on-the-way there.

During our Collider Ladies Night conversation, Siegel shared a good deal about her earliest inspirations, her experience studying acting at Syracuse University and how she almost switched to a career in international finance before meeting the person who’d wind up changing her life on screen and off, Mike Flanagan.

Check out what she had to say about that, filming an epic jump scare in Haunting of Hill House, how Midnight Mass evolved from novel to Netflix show and more in this edition of Collider Ladies Night!

18 Aug 2022Pre-Party: Meet Pretty Little Liars Original Sin Star Chandler Kinney00:39:11

Collider Ladies Night Pre-Party is all about giving you the heads-up on newer talent on the cusp of becoming very big and busy, and I’ve got a whole lot of faith that’ll be the case for Pretty Little Lairs: Original Sin star Chandler Kinney.

The HBO Max reimagining takes place within the existing Pretty Little Liars universe, but it focuses on five new characters living in a different town. The events of Original Sin unfold in Millwood, which isn’t all that far from Rosewood. That’s where we meet Kinney’s character, Tabby, a film-obsessed high school student who takes great pride in working at the local theater, The Orpheum. However, there’s also a growing darkness in Tabby’s world. Not only is she struggling with past trauma, but she’s also being targeted by an unknown assailant dubbed "A" who’s determined to make her and her friends pay for a sin committed by their mothers two decades ago.

With all 10 episodes of Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin now available to stream on HBO Max, Kinney took the time to join us for a Collider Ladies Night Pre-Party conversation so we could learn more about her journey in the industry thus far, her experience working on Pretty Little Liars and, yes, the biggest reveals of the final episodes.

20 Aug 2022Christina Ricci Interview: From Addams Family Values to Yellowjackets00:39:41

Collider Ladies Night is all about revisiting lessons learned and discussing how they’ve influenced the current path a creator is on. In Christina Ricci’s case, her decade’s worth of experience has led her straight to an Emmy nomination for playing a character who seems to well reflect her greatest ambitions as an artist. Yes, an artist.

Ricci is nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for her work playing Misty Quigley in Showtime’s Yellowjackets. If you’re not caught up on the show, what are you waiting for? Yellowjackets is one of the most enthralling, enigmatic new series to hit screens in recent series, and it also features some of the best ensemble casting of all time.

Just in case you need the basics, the title Yellowjackets refers to the name of a 1996 New Jersey high school soccer team gearing up to play in a national tournament. However, on the way there, their plane crashes in the middle of nowhere, forcing the girls to go to the extreme in order to survive. In addition to covering the events of 1996, the show also cuts to 2021 where we find the survivors of the incident trying to live normal lives. That includes Ricci’s Misty, a former soccer team equipment manager turned care facility nurse. Misty is all about connection and caring for others, but she’s certainly made a habit of going about achieving those things in all the wrong ways.

During our Collider Ladies Night conversation, we went back to the beginning of Ricci’s career and discussed how her goals as a child actor evolved with the rise of independent filmmaking and how all of her experience paved the way to her bringing one of the most enigmatic, darkly fascinating TV characters to screen -- Yellowjackets' Misty Quigley.

25 Aug 2022Bailee Madison Talks Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin and Embracing Her Love of Horror More Than Ever00:42:50

Bailee Madison has been racking up titles in a variety of genres ever since scoring her first screen credit in 2006’s Lonely Hearts, but she’s currently in the process of making an especially big mark in horror. Given her passion for genre storytelling and the fact that she’s had the opportunity to learn from some of the best of the best over the years, that corner of the industry is mighty lucky to have her, and you can see as much in her latest release, the Pretty Little Liars spin-off series, Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin.

Madison stars alongside Chandler Kinney, Zaria, Malia Pyles, and Maia Reficco as one of five teenagers being targeted by a masked assailant they call “A.” In addition to dealing with creepy texts and dodging A encounters, Madison’s character, Imogen Adams, is also mourning the loss of her mother while in the tail end of her own pregnancy. But fortunately, Imogen has the support of Tabby (Kinney), Faran (Zaria), Mouse (Pyles), and Noa (Reficco) in trying to unravel the mystery of A’s identity and also in powering through some of her greatest personal challenges.

With all 10 episodes of Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin now available to stream on HBO Max, Madison joined me for a Collider Ladies Night interview to, yes, discuss all the finale episode’s biggest reveals, but also to revisit her journey in the industry thus far which very clearly paves the way to more horror.

Collider Ladies Night Pre-Party is all about making sure you’re well aware of some of the biggest talent on the rise right now and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness star Xochitl Gomez most certainly fits that description.

She makes her MCU debut in the Doctor Strange sequel as America Chavez, a teenager with the ability to travel the multiverse via star-shaped portals. That power makes her Scarlet Witch’s (Elizabeth Olsen) prime target given her desperation to reunite with her children. Fortunately, America crosses paths with Earth 616’s Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) who, with the help of Wong (Benedict Wong) and the other sorcerers of Kamar-Taj, is willing to do whatever it takes to protect her from Wanda.

01 Sep 2022Katja Herbers on Her Journey to Evil, More Demon Kristen and If Sheryl Is Unforgivable00:40:28

Ever since Evil first debuted on CBS in 2019, I was told time and time again that it was an absolute must-watch, that this genre mash-up of a show was right up my alley. I’m deeply embarrassed to admit that it took me until summer of 2022 to actually take that advice. But, sure enough, I fell so hard for Evil that now I’m determined to pay it forward — go watch all three seasons of Evil on Paramount+ right now!

The show stars Mike Coulter as David, a Catholic seminarian working as an assessor, someone tasked with investigating the legitimacy of miracles and also claims of demonic activity. David does this with the help of Aasif Mandvi’s Ben, a contractor who specializes in technology and has a knack for disproving supernatural phenomena via rational explanations. Rounding out the team with a different perspective and set of skills is Katja Herbers’ Kristen, a psychologist who doesn’t believe in the supernatural but rather that everything has an explanation in science. However, the more cases the team takes, the more Kristen's core beliefs are challenged.

Clearly I adore Evil overall, but one particular element of the show that makes it a must-watch series is Herbers’ performance. Not only does she deftly weave through complex cases that put everything the character believes to the test, but she goes all-in when tackling every single ounce of it, and given how many genres and tones Evil spans, that makes for a deliciously wide-ranging performance.

Given my enthusiasm for the show and her performance, it probably goes without saying that it was the ultimate treat to welcome Herbers to Collider Ladies Night to discuss her journey from Holland to Hollywood and, of course, what went down in Evil Season 3.

02 Sep 2022Pre-Party: Meet The Rings of Power Star Markella Kavenagh (Nori Brandyfoot)00:19:21

Markella Kavenagh already had a handful of experience and credits to her name before jumping into The Rings of Power, but Prime Video’s The Lord of the Rings series is about to send her star soaring in a very big way.

The show takes place before the events of Peter Jackson’s Hobbit and Lord of the Rings film trilogies, during the Second Age. While there is some that view it as a time of peace initially, Galadriel, played here by Morfydd Clark, senses evil brewing. While she sets off to face it head-on, Kavenagh’s Nori is living the nomadic lifestyle of a Harfoot. Even though Nori is very dedicated to her family, friends, and the community overall, she feels pulled towards bigger things, and that pull becomes especially strong when she encounters a mysterious stranger played by David Weyman.

With the first two episodes of The Rings of Power now available on Prime Video, it’s time to get to know Kavenagh a bit better. During our Collider Ladies Night Pre-Party interview we retraced her steps from first recognizing her eagerness to become an actor to scoring a role in one of the biggest franchises in pop culture history.

03 Sep 2022Nazanin Boniadi Revisits Her Journey from Iron Man & How I Met Your Mother to The Rings of Power00:29:30

Prime Video’s Lord of the Rings series, The Rings of Power, is a one-of-a-kind production, but fortunately, Nazanin Boniadi had a slew of past experiences that put her in prime position to make the absolute most of this whirlwind ride.

The show takes place during the Second Age. While it may seem like a period of peace and calm, Morfydd Clark’s Galadriel senses evil brewing and Boniadi’s Bronwyn comes face to face with that evil in Episode 1. Bronwyn is a Southlander. Many years back, their ancestors chose evil over good and their people have been paying for it ever since. They were forced to start from scratch by being banished to baron lands where they’re watched over by the elves. Bronwyn, however, is determined to change that. She aims to liberate her people so they can finally move on from their past.

With the first two episodes of The Rings of Power now available to stream on Prime Video, Boniadi joined us for an episode of Collider Ladies Night to recap her journey in the industry and pinpoint key moments in her career that prepared her to jump into this epic Prime Video production.

14 Sep 2022Cobra Kai Season 5: Mary Mouser Breaks Down All of Sam's Biggest Moments00:39:54

There’s a slew of reasons why Cobra Kai is a very special series, but after being lucky enough to chat with the cast and creators for five seasons, one particular thing stands out — the Cobra Kai company is packed with people who understand these characters and are deeply dedicated to doing whatever they can to make their journeys stronger and stronger along the way.

Mary Mouser made her first appearance on Collider Ladies Night back in August 2020. That was just after news broke that the series would be moving over to Netflix and just before Season 3 debuted on the streamer. A lot has happened since, both for Mouser herself and for Samantha LaRusso, and that’s exactly what we’re digging into during Mouser’s return to Collider Ladies Night — in person!

During a round of Dicey Questions, Mouser highlighted, “Our writers are incredible at adapting and writing to these characters that we’ve probably all co-created at this point.” She continued, “I get to have a say, which is a really cool thing as a young actor to be taken seriously.” A cool thing indeed. A cool thing for Sam who gets a stronger arc courtesy of that collaboration and a cool thing for Mouser herself who’s getting the opportunity to establish a foundation for herself in this industry with such a creatively fulfilling project.

When we hit the main portion of the interview, I had to follow up and ask Mouser for the very first time she realized her input and her voice were being heard in a way that really mattered. Find out which scene she picked and hear all about Sam's biggest Season 5 moments including the status of her relationship with Miguel (Xolo Maridueña), where things stand with Tory (Peyton List), and so much more!

18 Sep 2022Fate: The Winx Saga Interview: Abigail Cowen on Season 2 and Identifying Her Need to Act via Stranger Things00:39:33

If you’re looking for a good example of someone who put in the work and experienced a steady climb to #1 on the call sheet, look no further than Abigail Cowen. While she has worked on a number of projects outside of Netflix, if you look at her work for the streamer alone she went from having a few lines in Stranger Things to scoring a supporting role in The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina where Kiernan Shipka showed her what it means to headline a series, and now Cowen is doing just that starring as Bloom in Fate: The Winx Saga

Just in case you need a little Winx 101, the Netflix series was inspired by the Nickelodeon animated series, Winx Club. In the live-action version, Cowen’s Bloom is a teenager from Earth (aka the First World) who discovers that she’s actually a fire fairy. She’s sent to the Otherworld where she’s enrolled at Alfea, a boarding school dedicated to teaching fairies how to master their powers.

Bloom’s thrown into the deep end, to say the least, in Season 1, needing to absorb a hefty dose of very serious Otherworld history and being tasked with accessing her full power in order to save Alfea from total destruction. However, in the process of doing that, she changes the state of the school quite drastically. When class is back in session in Season 2, Bloom needs to own up to what she’s done and figure out her place within that situation, all while dealing with an emerging threat connected to missing fairies.

With Fate: The Winx Saga Season 2 now available to stream on Netflix, Cowen joined us for an episode of Collider Ladies Night to recap her journey from her earliest itches to act to headlining a popular Netflix show.

25 Sep 2022Mia Goth Interview: How Nymphomaniac Put Her on the Path to Pearl00:27:05

Mia Goth has been quietly amassing one of the most exciting filmographies out there for the last 10 years. Until now, that is. She’s delivered standout supporting performances in films like The Survivalist, A Cure for Wellness, Suspiria, and more, but Ti West is the first to fully embrace the powerhouse she is and send her star soaring in a big way by releasing not one but two features in a single calendar year with Goth as the headliner, X back in March and now the prequel film, Pearl.

Even after having worked with some of the most iconic directors in the industry like Lars von Trier, Gore Verbinski, and Luca Guadagnino, it wasn’t until X that Goth finally got her first lead role in a feature film. One film quickly, or rather immediately, became two when inspiration struck and West got the OK from A24 to film not one, but two movies within the same series. First up would be X in which Goth starred as Maxine, a young woman with big dreams, and also as Pearl, an older woman struggling to cope with the fact that the opportunity to seize her own dreams is long gone. After filming that 1970s-set film, it was back to 1918 to create Pearl’s origin story.

A young Pearl is desperate to become a star, but her current circumstances make it very difficult for her to go after what she wants most. While her husband (Alistair Sewell) is off fighting in the war, Pearl is stuck at home caring for her catatonic father (Matthew Sunderland) and doing chores around the farm to appease her extremely strict and stern mother (Tandi Wright) who has absolutely no time for Pearl’s ambitions. Before long, Pearl’s mounting frustration with her situation and ache to become a star spark violent outbursts that tease the women she’s become in X.

While in Toronto celebrating the North American premiere of Pearl at TIFF 2022, Goth took the time to join us for an episode of Collider Ladies Night to revisit her journey from modeling as a teenager to becoming an actor who consistently picks riveting, bold, and truly unforgettable projects to work on.

07 Oct 2022Ghosts Season 2 Interview: Danielle Pinnock on Alberta's Vulnerabilities & Her Killer00:35:16

Ghosts marks Danielle Pinnock’s very first series regular role. If you’ve seen even a single episode of the downright delightful CBS show, you’re well aware she’s making the most of the opportunity and that there’s just no better actor for the role of Alberta.

Ghosts is an absolute must-see, one of the best new comedy series in recent years, but just in case you’re a little late to the game, we've got a primer for you; the CBS show is an adaption of the British series of the same name. In this version, Rose McIver and Utkarsh Ambudkar play Sam and Jay, a couple that inherits Woodstone Mansion and hope to turn the property into a B&B.

While getting settled, Sam suffers a bad fall and when she comes to, she realizes she can now see Ghosts and that her new home has a whole bunch of them, including Pinnock’s Alberta, a Prohibition-era jazz singer who’s convinced she was murdered.

With Ghosts Season 2 now underway, Pinnock took the time to join us for an episode of Collider Ladies Night Pre-Party to discuss her journey to shining in her very first series regular role.

12 Oct 2022Halloween Ends: Andi Matichak on Pivoting from Soccer Star to Fighting Michael Myers00:19:11

David Gordon Green’s Halloween trilogy may be coming to a close for Andi Matichak with Halloween Ends on October 14th, but between her work ethic, passion, and lessons learned from the legendary Jamie Lee Curtis, Matichak is bound to make the most of even more big screen opportunities moving forward.

A first lead role in a Hollywood feature doesn’t get much bigger than this — playing Laurie Strode’s (Curtis) granddaughter in a Halloween film. Four years later, Matichak has starred opposite Curtis in three Halloween installments, with Halloween Ends marking an especially big shift for her character. In the 2018 film, an innocent and unknowing Allyson came face to face with her grandmother’s boogeyman, Michael Myers. Then in Halloween Kills, she was inspired to step up and join the fight to take him down, losing her mother, Karen (Judy Greer), in the process.

Halloween Ends begins four years after that blood-soaked encounter. Allyson’s built a life with her grandmother and works as a nurse in Haddonfield. Both seem to be in a good place given the horrors they’ve survived, but their situation becomes quite complicated when Corey Cunningham (Rohan Campbell) steps into their lives. He was accused of killing the boy he was babysitting on Halloween night in 2019 and now, even though he was acquitted, he’s still a town pariah. Initially, Laurie is eager to help Corey when he’s bullied and is in favor of the budding romance brewing between him and Allyson, but then something changes. Laurie notices something concerning in this local outcast, but despite her warnings, Allyson opts to pull away from her grandmother and veer toward Corey instead.

With Halloween Ends hitting theaters and Peacock on October 14th, Matichak took the time to join us for an episode of Collider Ladies Night Pre-Party to revisit her journey to one of the most iconic horror franchises of all time.

16 Oct 2022Heather Langenkamp Interview: From Nightmare on Elm Street to The Midnight Club00:26:18

Heather Langenkamp is a horror icon courtesy of her work as Nancy in A Nightmare on Elm Street. When you strike gold with an opportunity like that, it’s hard to imagine ever finding another role that’s on that same level. Langenkamp even said as much; “I knew nothing could be as good as Nancy. I've always felt that as a teenager and as a woman who grew up looking for good roles, it was really hard to find roles as good as that one.” But, then The Midnight Club came her way. She continued, “Except for now. I really feel like I found a role that's just as good as Nancy.”

Langenkamp plays Dr. Georgina Stanton in The Midnight Club on Netflix. She runs Brightcliffe, a hospice for terminally ill young adults. Dr. Stanton insists on giving her residents the trust, care, and support they need to “focus on living instead of fighting.” She understands some come to Brightcliffe leaning into unorthodox remedies and doesn’t judge them for it, but it’s the one that her newest resident, Iman Benson’s Ilonka, falls into that does become quite concerning.

While celebrating the show’s big debut at New York Comic Con, Langenkamp took the time to join us for an episode of Collider Ladies Night to revisit her journey from becoming a genre legend via A Nightmare on Elm Street to joining the cast of Mike Flanagan’s latest Netflix series.

17 Feb 2022Peacemaker: How Danielle Brooks Went from Juilliard to DC Hero00:27:45

An actor is lucky enough to have one hit show, but here we go again for Danielle Brooks! After seven seasons with the Netflix smash Orange Is the New Black, Brooks is a main player in one of the hottest new shows of 2022, James Gunn’s Peacemaker.

Brooks plays Leota Adebayo in the HBO Max DC series. She’s Amanda Waller’s (Viola Davis) daughter, but would much rather be running an animal shelter than contributing to the Project Butterfly task force. Trouble is, Adebayo needs to support her family, so she’s got no choice but to get into her mother’s line of work. No one on the team is especially thrilled about being assigned to work alongside Peacemaker (John Cena), but it’s Adebayo who manages to strike up a connection with the impulsive and often obnoxious anti-hero, encouraging him to change for the better.

In celebration of Peacemaker’s stellar run on HBO Max, Brooks joined us for an episode of Collider Ladies Night to explain how she went from being a 15-year-old aspiring actor admiring a performance of The Color Purple on Broadway to starring in a DC adaptation alongside John Cena. Hear all about her time studying at The Juilliard School, working on Netflix's Orange Is the New Black, her hopes for Peacemaker Season 2, and more in this episode of Collider Ladies Night!

07 Nov 2022Grace Gummer Interview: Advice from Meryl, Mr. Robot, AHS, Let the Right One In, and More00:42:31

The John Ajvide Lindqvist novel, Let the Right One In, already has one downright phenomenal big screen adaptation and a rock solid American remake. Is it really possible for the source material to go three for three on screen? Five episodes into Showtime’s Let the Right One In series, it looks that way.

The show has a number of key characters to track. Most closely associated with the original story is Ian Foreman’s Isaiah and Madison Taylor Baez’s Eleanor. Isaiah’s a young kid who struggles to make friends and often finds himself face-to-face with bullies. However, hope comes in the form of a new neighbor, Eleanor, a girl who appears to be about the same age. But, little does Isaiah know, Eleanor is actually a vampire and her father (Demián Bichir) spends much of his time figuring out how to feed her.

Meanwhile, we’ve got Grace Gummer’s character Claire, a brilliant scientist building a promising career who’s forced to choose between that current work and her family when her estranged and ailing father calls with a very unusual request. Arthur Logan (Željko Ivanek) wants Claire to continue his search for a cure for her brother (Jacob Buster) who has also been turned into a vampire.

With Let the Right One In well into its Season 1 run, Gummer took the time to join us for an episode of Collider Ladies Night to revisit the path she took to make her way to the new show.

21 Nov 2022Hong Chau Interview: The Menu, The Whale, Treme and More!00:20:40

It may have taken Hong Chau longer than she would have liked for consistent opportunities to come her way, but it’s happening now and she’s proving that this industry should have taken notice far sooner.

In her latest release, Mark Mylod’s The Menu, she’s a one-of-a-kind force as Elsa, the restaurant captain at Chef Slowik’s (Ralph Fiennes) secluded and very exclusive dining experience at Hawthorne. His new round of guests is an extra special one, destined for a meal they’ll never forget. While Elsa has a firm handle on the entire operation, she encounters an unexpected hiccup — Anya Taylor-Joy’s Margot, the only guest who’s suspicious of the unusual chain of events and tension coursing through them. Allowing Margot to disrupt the plan for the evening is not an option for Elsa.

With The Menu now playing in theaters and Chau’s next movie, The Whale, due out on December 9th, she joined us for an episode of Collider Ladies Night Pre-Party to explain how she reached a point where she regularly scores stellar projects that speak to her personal interests and goals in film and television.

24 Nov 2022Taylor Russell Interview: Feeling Immediately In Sync with Timothée Chalamet Making Bones and All00:29:01

As a big believer that Taylor Russell is one of the best actors of her generation, it was the ultimate treat to have her on an episode of Collider Ladies Night. Her star soared courtesy of the Escape Room franchise, she was named Breakthrough Actor of 2019 at the Gotham Awards for her work in Waves, and now she delivers one of the very best performances of 2022 in Luca Guadagnino’s Bones and All opposite Timothée Chalamet.

Russell plays Maren in the film, a young woman who was born an “eater,” someone who needs to consume human flesh. Due to this hereditary condition, Maren’s forced to live an isolated life on the outskirts of society. But, the same is true for Chalamet’s Lee and once they find each other, there’s a glimmer of hope that they indeed deserve love and have a place in this world.

With Bones and All now playing in theaters nationwide, Russell joined us for a Collider Ladies Night chat to revisit her journey from The Mummy fan to becoming one of the most promising talents in this business.

27 Nov 2022Nanny Interview: Nikyatu Jusu Explains How She Got Her First Feature Off the Ground00:19:43

The Collider Ladies Night sub-series, Collider Ladies Night Pre-Party, was made for creators like Nikyatu Jusu. It’s designed to put the spotlight on promising filmmakers in the early stages of their careers who deliver so big with a new project that their star is bound to soar. Mark my words; that will happen for Jusu and this industry is better off for it.

After winning the HBO Short Film Competition at the American Black Film Festival with Flower, earning a Short Film Grand Jury Prize nomination at the Sundance Film Festival for Suicide by Sunlight (which I highly recommend watching right here), and finding other success in the short film format, Jusu finally got the go-ahead for her feature directorial debut, Nanny. Anna Diop leads as Aisha, a Senegalese woman living in New York City who starts a new job caring for the daughter of Michelle Monaghan’s type-A working mom. The hope? That gig will give her the resources she needs to bring her own son, Lamine, to the US. However, the more Aisha works, the more she’s haunted by a violent presence threatening to destroy her American dream.

With Nanny now playing in select theaters and due out on Prime Video on December 16th, Jusu took the time to follow up our 2022 Toronto International Film Festival conversation with an episode of Collider Ladies Night Pre-Party to offer additional insight into exactly what it took to get her first feature off the ground.

29 Nov 2022Haley Lu Richardson Interview: White Lotus, Working with Brett Dier, Colin Farrell & More00:40:57

As we often talk about on Collider Ladies Night, every path in this business is different, and those paths often evolve along the way. That’s exactly what happened to The White LotusHaley Lu Richardson.

Richardson plays Portia on Season 2 of the hit HBO show. This time around, creator, writer and director Mike White takes the luxury, overindulgence, and often awful behavior to a White Lotus resort in Taormina, Sicily. The only main character from Season 1 to bounce from one getaway to the next is Jennifer Coolidge’s Tanya McQuoid, and this time around, she's bringing her assistant, Richardson’s Portia, along for the ride.

With The White Lotus well into its Season 2 run, Richardson joined us for an episode of Collider Ladies Night to revisit her early Disney and Nickelodeon ambitions and to discuss how she went on to build a filmography packed with bold genre movies, touching romantic dramas, independent gems, and spicy satire with The White Lotus.

04 Dec 2022Willow Interview: Get to Know Ruby Cruz Who Plays Kit, Daughter of Sorsha & Madmartigan00:28:59

Have you watched the first two episodes of Willow on Disney+ yet? If you haven’t, you should because the series is a delightful fantasy adventure featuring a stellar main ensemble brimming with chemistry. If you’ve already seen “The Gales” and “The High Aldwin,” however, I’m willing to bet you’re eager to learn more about Willow’s Ruby Cruz who plays Queen Sorsha’s (Joanne Whalley) daughter, Kit.

The show picks up many years after the events of the 1988 film, far enough in the future that baby Elora Danan is now grown. Even though Warwick Davis’ Willow and Val Kilmer’s Madmartigan were able to save baby Elora from the forces of darkness back then, Willow still has a vision that ancient evil will rise and destroy the future empress, so they decide it’s best to hide Elora’s true identity — even from herself.

Meanwhile, Kit comes face-to-face with an emerging evil when Tir Asleen is attacked and her brother, Airk (Dempsey Bryk), is taken. Desperate to find him, she opts to step up and venture beyond the safety of her home, a quest that sees her teaming with an unlikely group of characters including Willow himself.

With the first two episodes of Willow the series now available to stream on Disney+, Cruz joined me for an episode of Collider Ladies Night Pre-Party to discuss how she went from frequent ArcLight Cinemas patron to becoming an on-screen star herself.

21 Dec 2022Madelaine Petsch Interview: Riverdale Winding Down, Other Projects Picking Up00:33:03

Madelaine Petsch is nearing the end of a seven-season run with Riverdale. While it’s likely scary to leave a long-running and very popular show behind, it will afford Petsch the opportunity to tackle other genres, flex new acting muscles, and maybe even get involved behind the scenes in different capacities. If her latest release, the Amazon Freevee film, Hotel for the Holidays, is any indication, Petsch is gearing up to do all of that and then some.

Petsch leads Hotel for the Holidays as Georgia, the manager of the Hotel Fontaine in New York City. It’s Christmastime, so there’s sky-high pressure to offer guests a high-end hotel experience loaded with holiday spirit. Georgia always strives to bring her A game to work, but it’s not easy juggling a curious spark with the hotel chef (Mena Massoud), an infamous pop star, a European ex-prince, her own personal career ambitions, and more.

With Hotel for the Holidays now available to stream via Amazon Freevee, Petsch took the time to join me for a Collider Ladies Night conversation to recap her journey from her earliest inspirations to her lengthy run on Riverdale and beyond.

26 Dec 2022Pre-Party: Meet National Treasure Edge of History Star Zuri Reed00:25:42

Imagine growing up a huge Disney Channel fan and then scoring a starring role on a highly anticipated Disney+ series. That’s exactly what happened for Zuri Reed with National Treasure: Edge of History.

In the sequel series to the National Treasure films starring Nicolas Cage, we meet a new lead character, Jess Valenzuela played by Lisette Olivera. Jess loves a good mystery and has a knack for solving puzzles, so when she finds herself in the midst of a treasure hunt that could have ties to her late father, she absolutely has to see it through. But, she can’t do it alone and that’s where Reed’s character, Tasha, comes in. Tasha is Jess’ best friend and roommate, and also happens to be a tech whiz, making her an invaluable member of the team going on this wild adventure.

With National Treasure: The Edge of History three episodes into its 10-episode run, with Episode 4 scheduled to hit Disney+ on December 28th, Reed took the time to join me for a Collider Ladies Night Pre-Party conversation to explain how she went from Disney Channel superfan to starring in a Disney+ series herself.

01 Jan 2023Claire Foy Interview: From Breaking Out via The Crown to Starring in Women Talking00:29:51

Claire Foy is a hugely talented pro. She’s been delivering big on screen and on stage for years, she won two Emmys for her work in The Crown, she earned four BAFTA nominations, two for The Crown, one for First Man and another for Wolf Hall, and now she’s rightfully in the awards season conversation yet again for her performance in Sarah Polley’s Women Talking. However, even with all those achievements, she hesitates to give herself credit for giving her young Women Talking co-stars good advice. (Even though it's spot on stuff.)

The film is based on Miriam Toews’ best-selling novel about a group of women living in a secluded religious colony who must figure out how to respond to a series of sexual assaults committed by the colony's men. Do they stay and act as though nothing happened? Do they stay and fight back? Or, do they leave everything they’ve ever known behind to build a better life elsewhere?

With the film now playing in select theaters and set to expand nationwide on January 27th, Foy took the time to join us for an episode of Collider Ladies Night to revisit her journey from drama school to “breaking out” via The Crown to being part of an exceptional ensemble in Women Talking.

08 Jan 2023Lucy Boynton Interview: Finding Her Agent, Sing Street, Pale Blue Eye and More00:30:44

I’ve been actively seeking out Lucy Boynton’s work ever since catching The Blackcoat’s Daughter at the Toronto International Film Festival back in 2015. She’s been delivering big ever since, making surprising choices and showing off great range at every turn so, of course, I’ve been eager to have her as a guest on Collider Ladies Night, and now the time has come.

The icing on the cake? She’s an ideal interviewee for a show like Ladies Night. Throughout our chat, it was abundantly clear that Boynton’s an artist who’s very in touch with her craft and deeply values the influences who have helped shape the actor she’s become — or rather, the influences that have shown her she has the authority to shape her craft and her career path how she wants.

In celebration of her latest feature film, The Pale Blue Eye, arriving on Netflix, Boynton joined me for a Ladies Night conversation to revisit her journey from playing a boulder in a school play (yes, a boulder) to building a filmography that’s packed to the brim with inspiring collaborators, different genres, and opportunities to take big swings.

13 Jan 2023Andrea Riseborough Interview: The Moviemaking Marathon That Landed Her a Spirit Award Nom for To Leslie00:51:27

Andrea Riseborough is one of the most exciting creators out there right now. If you can’t get behind that statement, odds are, you haven’t seen enough of her one-of-a-kind filmography. From Birdman to Battle of the Sexes, Black Mirror, Mandy, Possessor, and then some, Riseborough is consistently taking on bold projects, completely vanishing into her roles, and showing a willingness to take her work to the nth degree to bring the trustiest version of her characters' experiences to the screen. All of that is on display yet again in one of her latest releases, To Leslie.

Inspired by screenwriter Ryan Binaco’s own mother, To Leslie stars Riseborough as the title character, a woman living in West Texas who hits big playing the lottery. While the initial hope is to put that money towards making a better life for her son, Leslie succumbs to her struggle with alcoholism and winds up homeless. Having hurt the people she’s closest to repeatedly, Leslie’s left with no one to turn to until she meets Marc Maron’s character, Sweeney, a local motel clerk who decides to give Leslie a chance.

Riseborough’s work in To Leslie is, by far, one of the best performances of 2022. Given how I feel about that film and her entire body of work, she’s been a Collider Ladies Night dream guest. Now, in celebration of her Independent Spirit Award nomination for To Leslie, that dream becomes a reality. Fifty minutes isn’t enough to get through Riseborough’s entire resume, but we did cover a good deal ranging from her earliest inspirations to her collaborations with Christian Bale and NicolasCage, all paving the way to one of her best performances to date, her work in To Leslie.

14 Jan 2023Janelle Monáe Interview: Getting Awards Season Recognition for Glass Onion00:27:51

Looking for someone with peak screen presence? It's Janelle Monáe. Whether it’s in a film or show, via her music, or perhaps even giving an acceptance speech when being recognized for her work, she’s utterly captivating courtesy of her inspiring energy and the palpable intention behind everything she does. You can see it in her work in Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, and you can feel the gratitude in her speeches and interviews while celebrating the film’s awards season run.

Given Glass Onion has been streaming on Netflix for nearly a month, this will be your one and only warning; this interview contains Glass Onion spoilers! If you’ve yet to see the film, go watch it on Netflix and this interview will be waiting for you when you’re ready.

With that taken care of, Monáe tackles not one, not two, but three roles in Glass Onion. She plays Andi, she plays Andi’s sister Helen, and she also plays Helen pretending to be Andi. It’s not an easy range to navigate, but Monáe pulls it off beautifully, managing to make both Helen and Andi feel whole, and using the connection between the two to bolster the strength and urgency of Helen’s mission.

It’s a performance feat that’s rightfully being recognized this awards season with Monáe being named Best Supporting Actress by the National Board of Review and earning a Best Supporting Actress nomination at the Critics Choice Awards. While celebrating all of that recognition, Monáe joined me for a Collider Ladies Night conversation to revisit some of her journey from studying at the American Musical and Dramatic Academy to standing at podiums accepting awards for her work in Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery.

24 Feb 2023Katy O'Brian Talks Playing Jentorra in Ant-Man, Working with Kristen Stewart & More00:41:02

It’s Collider Ladies Night Pre-Party time and that means we’ve got an actor on the rise you absolutely must keep an eye on. It’s Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania’s Katy O’Brian.

In the MCU’s latest, Scott (Paul Rudd), Cassie (Kathryn Newton), Hope (Evangeline Lilly), Janet (Michelle Pfeiffer), and Hank (Michael Douglas) are all sucked into the Quantum Realm. After being separated on the way in, Scott and Cassie try to track down Hope, Janet, and Hank, and along the way, they run into the Freedom Fighters and learn there’s a brutal force threatening all life in the Quantum Realm (and beyond) — Kang the Conqueror (Jonathan Majors). Led by O’Brian’s Jentorra, the Freedom Fighters have tried everything to put a stop to Kang. Even though Jentorra’s wary of anyone who comes from above, she eventually comes to realize that Scott, Cassie, and the others could be key to finally taking The Conqueror down once and for all.

With Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania now playing in theaters nationwide, O’Brian took the time to join me for a Collider Ladies Night Pre-Party interview to discuss her journey from wannabe veterinarian to studying German and psychology in college to working as a police officer to ultimately becoming an actor who’s already appeared in two of the biggest franchises in history, Marvel and Star Wars.

01 Mar 2023Storm Reid Interview: The Last of Us Episode 7, Missing, The Nun 2 and More!00:28:42

Do you know who made the absolute most out of her Hollywood breakout opportunity? Storm Reid. Not only is she exceptional in Ava DuVernay’s adaptation of A Wrinkle in Time, but ever since, she’s been scooping up a wide variety of projects and delivering big in every single one including Leigh Whannell’s The Invisible Man, playing Zendaya’s sister in Euphoria, and then some. (Also, be sure to check out Reid’s underseen pre-A Wrinkle in Time title, Sleight directed by J.D. Dillard.) Next up on Reid’s list? A movie in the screen thriller subgenre, Missing, from the filmmakers behind 2018’s Searching.

Reid stars as June, a typical teenager who butts heads with her mother (Nia Long) and leaves the majority of her check-in text messages unanswered. June gets a hefty dose of that digital radio silence herself when her mom never returns from her trip to Colombia with her new boyfriend. Desperate to find her and frustrated with the significant amount of international red tape she encounters, June takes matters into her own hands by using every resource available to her online to track down her mother.

In celebration of Missing’s January 20th nationwide release, Reid took the time to join me for a Collider Ladies Night interview to revisit her journey from Matilda super fan to headlining her own thriller and appearing on the hit HBO series, The Last of Us.

Note: This episode was recorded on January 10, 2023.

03 Mar 2023Cleopatra Coleman Interview: Mia Goth, Zack Snyder's Rebel Moon & More00:33:46

Cleopatra Coleman’s already accomplished quite a bit in film and television, but 2023 is looking to be an especially big year for the soaring star.

First she starred opposite Mia Goth and Alexander Skarsgård in Brandon Cronenberg’s Infinity Pool, a film about a couple who learn about an especially twisted law in the fictional seaside country of Li Tolqa. After being sentenced to death for hitting and killing a local man while driving back to their resort, Skarsgård’s James learns there’s a way out — but only for the wealthy. For a hefty price, James can pay to be cloned and have that duplicate executed in his place.

Soon after Infinity Pool arrived on January 27th, A Lot of Nothing made its way into theaters. In that one, Coleman stars opposite Y’lan Noel as Vanessa and James, a couple who opt to take matters into their own hands when they find out their neighbor is the LAPD officer responsible for the latest instance of an officer killing an unarmed victim.

Next up on Coleman’s 2023 schedule? Zack Snyder’s new movie — the highly anticipated epic space opera Rebel Moon due out on Netflix on December 22nd.

In celebration of a year packed with highly unique films, stellar collaborators, and loads of significant promise for the future, Coleman joined me for a Collider Ladies Night interview to explain how she went from making short films with her father to working with renowned forces in Hollywood like Snyder, Cronenberg, Goth, Noel, Kaitlyn Dever, and many more.

13 Mar 2023Scream 6 Interview: Melissa Barrera on Requesting Big Changes for Sam Carpenter00:26:59

I always want more time at the end of interviews, but especially at the end of interviews with Melissa Barrera. I had the pleasure of having her on Collider Ladies Night in January of 2022 for the release of Scream and every single answer was thoughtful, detailed, and oozing with passion for her craft. A year later, nothing has changed in that respect, but Barrera has experienced a bit of an evolution in terms of the types of projects she finds herself drawn to and the goals she has for herself in the business.

In her latest release, Scream VI, Barrera returns as Samantha Carpenter, the daughter of Billy Loomis (Skeet Ulrich) and one of the survivors of the 2022 Woodsboro massacre. When Chad (Mason Gooding), Mindy (Jasmin Savoy Brown), and her sister Tara (Jenna Ortega) move to New York City for college, Sam tags along so she can do everything in her power to keep her loved ones safe. That dedication is put to the test when a new Ghostface emerges and threatens to tear the “Core Four” apart.

In celebration of the March 10th release of Scream VI, Barrera took the time to return to Collider Ladies Night and discuss the “big perspective shift” she’s had since the release of Scream 2022.

18 Mar 2023Chloe Bailey Interview: Swarm, Singing the National Anthem, and More!00:24:50

It isn’t easy thriving in two different sectors of the entertainment industry, but Chloe Bailey is absolutely soaring as a singer and actress, right alongside her sister, Halle Bailey

In addition to finding great success as Chloe x Halle, the Bailey sisters started carving out some significant space for themselves in film and television via the ABC sitcom Grown-ish. When that show came to an end, both continued to pursue both crafts, racking up a number of impressive acting credits along the way. Halle Bailey, of course, is our new Ariel in the live-action version of The Little Mermaid, and Chloe Bailey’s filmography is packed with bold titles that offer the opportunity to explore complex characters like the Netflix film, Jane, and now the new Prime Video series, Swarm.

From co-creators Janine Nabers and Donald Glover, Swarm stars Dominique Fishback as Dre, a woman living with her sister (Bailey’s Marissa) who grew up obsessed with a pop star called Ni’Jah and remains a diehard fan as an adult. As stated in the show’s trailer, “Talk about Ni’Jah, you get stung.” Dre takes defending her idol very seriously, and it’s a level of dedication that often lands Dre in very dark places.

With all seven episodes of Swarm now available to stream on Prime Video, Bailey took the time to celebrate by joining us for an episode of Collider Ladies Night Pre-Party to recap her journey from her earliest acting and music ambitions to singing the National Anthem at the 2022 World Series and starring in Swarm.

19 Mar 2023Swarm Interview: Dominique Fishback on Balancing Celebrity and Acting00:28:51

Dominique Fishback has an open invitation to Collider Ladies Night for a number of reasons. First, she’s incredibly talented and has a wild amount of range. Second, she recognizes that range and uses it by loading up her filmography with a wide variety of projects, all with complex characters that demand she flexes her acting muscles to the fullest. On top of all of that? Not only is it abundantly career that Fishback pours maximum heart and thought into her craft, but she always exudes deep passion when discussing it. There’s no better Collider Ladies Night guest than that.

In her latest see-it-to-believe-it production, Fishback stars as Dre in Prime Video’s Swarm. Dre grew up a massive fan of pop culture icon Ni’Jah. Whereas her sister (Chloe Bailey) grew out of the fandom, Dre’s obsession has intensified and now, as an adult, her dedication to Ni’Jah often sends her to extremely dark, dangerous places.

Whether you’re a singer, an actor, or pursuing any other craft in the entertainment industry, with success often comes celebrity, and with celebrity comes extremely passionate fans. Clearly, Ni’Jah has one in Dre in Swarm, and Fishback’s amassed quite a few over the years as well.

Hear all about Fishback's approach to balancing celebrity and acting, how her vision board-making process has changed, how she scored herself a producing credit on Swarm, and loads more on this edition of Collider Ladies Night!
