20 Aug 2023179. Your 3 Hour Marketing Plan00:51:44

If you ever worry that you don't have enough time to spend on marketing and list building, you're in the right place.

My guest today is Yissel Espinoza Cervantes who helps driven women create their dream careers without sacrificing their health, family, and happiness.

Speaking of driven women, Yissel is definitely one of them.

And she finds herself in a season of life where other obligations only allow her about 3 hours to work on marketing her business every week. So, Yissel's big question was, Where should I spend that time to get the best results?

Though the answer to this question will be different for every coach, Yissel and I did our best to find the aligned answer for her.

Here's the process we followed to get there:

  1. Create a timeframe as a filter so you feel grounded and clear that the overwhelm you may feel is temporary.
  2. Get super honest about how much time you can actually devote to the plan you create. Don't overshoot this at all. In fact, I recommend that you underestimate the amount of time you've got.
  3. Set clear goals. What concrete results do you want to accomplish thanks to your plan?
  4. Pick one strategy and go all in. You will gain more traction and gather more data by focusing on one strategy than dabbling in a bunch of them.
  5. When you're 85% comfortable and consistent with that one strategy, add the next layer. Sometimes that layer will be a new action. Other times it might be simply doing more of the thing that's already working.

Now it's your turn. Here's what you'll learn:

  • Which list building strategy can bring the best results when you don't have time to waste.
  • Understand how repurposing content and incorporating virtual assistants can streamline your list building process and free you up to do what you're good at, which is coaching.
  • How to embrace imperfection and give yourself a passing grade while you're in your busy season of life.

The resources mentioned in this episode are:

  • The Hive's Lazy List Building Course - This course is designed to help you build your email list and attract new subscribers with 13 simple, repeatable habits. Access it now by applying for The Hive at dallastravers.com/apply.
  • Virtual Assistant Services - If you're looking for help with social media posts and email management, consider hiring a virtual assistant. Dallas' favorite source to find a solid VA is SaraWiles.co/matchmaking

11 Oct 202010. Jenny Cornbleet + Mark Futterman Help Me Uncover The Motivation Behind My Busy-ness00:53:46

I’ve invited Jenny Cornbleet and Mark Futterman from Boldly Original to coach me through a complicated and honestly toxic relationship I seem to have with time.

I love sharing these episodes with you because one goal I have with this show is to practice authenticity and transparency.

So, yes, we go pretty deep in this episode and yes, I even cry a bit.

But first, a bit about Jenny and Mark...

They help you uncover your deepest inner purpose so you can start doing what matters most. Jenny and Mark believe most of us look for meaning in the wrong place, asking, “What can I do that would bring me purpose?” That’s an outside-in way to search for meaning, and it often leads to spending your whole life looking for something to give you lasting purpose, but never quite finding it.

Jenny and Mark approach purpose from-the-inside-out, helping you turn your work and life into an authentic expression of who you are and what you’re most passionate about.

They have created a unique way to uncover the deepest meaning that’s already inside of you, wanting to be expressed. They call this inner meaning your Boldly Original Proposition or BOP, and it’s the thing your life has perfectly prepared you to help teach, heal, or express in the world.

Whether you have a business, a creative calling, or a cause, they can help you break through self-doubt and feeling stuck and move into a lot more meaning and fulfilment.

Be sure to check out their free class Your Hidden Purpose which is all about the 3 big myths that keep you from doing what matters most and the life you’re meant to have. Just go to www.yourhiddenpurpose.com.

Want to learn more? If you're a coach and your goal is six figures this year, come watch The Coach Class for free. That way, so you can accomplish your revenue goals without burning out.

If you loved this episode, please leave an honest review. Your review helps boost the show and gives more coaches a chance to listen in. Be sure to leave your IG handle when you do so I can send a VIP episode to say thank you.

18 Aug 20201. What I've Learned From My Six Figure Coaching Business00:17:42

Welcome to the first episode of the Six Figure Coach Podcast. Today, we kick the podcast off by getting to know each other a bit.

I'll share my intentions for the show, a little bit about my background, and the three biggest lessons of learned on my own six figure journey.

04 Dec 2022142. 3 Paths to Perfect Match Clients00:18:20

We've got a fun week ahead of us because I’ll drop a few bonus mini lessons this week in honor of open enrollment for Client Surge. If you're a values driven coach and you want a clear path to more clients (without complicated strategies or sketchy sales tactics) Client Surge is probably the solution that you've been seeking.

So you can check out the program at https://joinclientsurge.com/.

What is Client Surge? It's a proven process designed to help you sign 7 paying clients in about thirty days which I think is probably the perfect way to kick off the New Year.

Client surge really does deliver the most honest, authentic, reliable system to find perfect match clients. Even if you're a brand new coach.

And today's mini lesson is all about the 3 paths to perfect match clients.

If you’re tuned in right now, you're probably ready for an easier path to find clients and I just want you to know that you are likely closer than you think.

Now it's just about leveraging 3 strengths that you already possess: your values, your coaching skills and your willingness.

It's December and you could be totally checking out for the year and yet you are HERE.

Which tells me that you care about building a sustainable business that you're proud of and I want to help you make that happen.

So, if you’re ready for a simpler path to find paying clients -  you will love this episode.

Enjoy!

03 Oct 2022130. Solve the Right Problems in Your Business00:26:39

Happy October — This is the time of year where I know for me and so many other coaches start to dream, plan, and prepare for the year to come.

So to help you make next year a breakthrough year in your business I've cooked up 5 bonus episodes that we will drop each day this week!

And today is all about how to know you are solving the right problems in your business

We are rolling out these special episodes for 2 reasons:

1. To help you think differently about your business than you have in the past.

2. To help you decide if The Hive is the program to help you accomplish those goals and apply those strategies — and really make 2023 a different year for yourself.

So at the time of recording this episode we have exactly twenty spots available inside the hive before we close enrollment for the year.

We limit our enrollment because we really strive to deliver the gold standard when it comes to client success inside of the program. We're very high touch and intentional so we will close the doors for the year once we hit our enrollment goal.

So the way that I see it is if you've been at all curious about The Hive or it's been on your list... now is the time to begin your enrollment process. You can apply now at http://dallastravers.com/apply

Today's episode is all about how to solve the right problems in your biz.

Do you ever feel like everyone around you knows something you don't? Maybe like you're missing something- because you're doing all of the right things and still feel like you're just throwing spaghetti against the wall half of the time.

This is really common for values driven coaches. One reason being that we care a lot about our business and really want to help people.

And because we want that so badly, we're willing to put in the hard work. But it's that willingness to put in the hard work that can create chaos in our business and cause us to value action more than strategy.

So in this episode, I will walk you through how to tell if you're actually solving the right problem. Then, how to measure those decisions in a values driven way. And lastly, walk you through the system I live by and walk all of our Hive Members through: The Ripple Effect System.

If you're ready to stop throwing spaghetti at the wall and truly set your business up for success this coming year...grab a pen and paper and tune in!

TIMESTAMPS:

00:06:27 - Dallas shares a story about sharing the wrong problem in your business

00:09:00 - How our initial instinct is to solve a peripheral problem, but doesn’t move the needle in our business

00:10:40 - The layers inside of the Ripple Effect System

00:15:00 - Dallas shares a mistake she made in her business and what you can learn from it

00:19:00 - Questions to ask yourself so you solve the right problems

00:23:00 - How the Ripple Effect System is actually FAST

00:25:00 - Dallas summarizes and shares about the limited spots remaining in the Hive for 2022

21 Nov 202170. Success Doesn’t Always Need to Come Quickly00:40:26
Okay, let’s talk about the problem with Hustle Culture, shall we? My guest today is Ketetha Olengue who is a Resident Physician In Training, and also runs a coaching program called Developing Doc. Her program helps medical students who envision a bright and rewarding future get clarity on what they actually want as a physician. Developing Doc started out of a place of necessity and has since transformed into a meaningful mission for Ketetha. She came into our conversation hoping to walk away with a sustainable plan for her business while she completes the last two and a half years of her residency. And we did create that plan. But rather than a plan, we really created space for Ketetha to breathe during this extremely busy phase in her life. You see, Ketetha has no experience “moving slow” in life, so she has been running her business with the belief that she needed to grow it “now or never”. This Hustle Culture approach ate away at Ketetha’s confidence and caused her to question whether or not her business is viable. By the end of our conversation, Ketetha was able to make a confident decision and have actionable steps to take toward her long term vision. If you ever find yourself believing the lie of hustle culture this episode is for you. 04 Apr 202134. The Case for Premium Pricing with Latesha Lynch00:41:07
My guest today is Latesha Lynch and I must confess that after we wrapped up recording I blushed and asked her, “can we be friends?” Latesha is one of those “tell it like it is” entrepreneurs with a common sense approach to business decisions. Which is so refreshing because while there’s so much hype around charging your worth in the coaching world, Latesha’s case for premium pricing isn’t based on feelings. It’s just based on facts. So, a little about Latesha… Her core mission to help female entrepreneurs build and leverage their brand authority so they can confidently sell their services and coaching programs at a premium price point. She has been featured in Forbes, Atlanta Tech Edge, GPB Radio, and Authority Magazine to share her experience with technology, asking for more money, branding, and entrepreneurship. Latesha has a special handbook for you if you want to offer fewer services while making more money so you can avoid burnout and sleepless nights and still hit your ambitious monthly income goals. Go here to grab it: https://revolutionaryceo.co/handbook/ So, today, the two of us talk about the real reason to offer premium pricing and the value it brings to your business as well as your clients. 14 Sep 202159. Permission to Be Imperfect00:20:24
Think about how many hours you’d reclaim in your week if you gave yourself permission to get it wrong. In this bonus episode, I’ll share candidly about my own struggles with perfectionism (hello to all my Enneagram 3s out there!). We’ll also explore The Stuck Coach Chaos Cyclone which keeps us all really busy instead of moving forward. My intention in this bonus episode is to empower you to write your own permission slip to let go of getting things perfect, and just get them going instead. If you hold back in any way because you’re afraid to make mistakes or if you find you often seek external approval instead of just trusting your gut, please join me at the Permission Granted event. You'll walk away from Permission Granted with: A grit building action plan to stop holding yourself back so you can move quickly toward a prosperous business. The freedom and confidence to say no to any tactics or strategies that don't feel like YOU and permission to follow your values instead. 01 Oct 2023185: Give Your Signature System an Upgrade00:39:57

My guest today is Onelly Hernandez. Onelly helps Latinas with Hashimoto's and hypothyroidism lose weight without counting calories.

Onelly came into our conversation totally prepared to perfect her signature system, which made my job so super easy.

You see, every coach, whether you know it or not, has a signature system. And when we can give that system a name and really outline what it looks like, three incredible things happen:

  1. We feel much more confident as a coach and especially as a marketer.
  2. Your audience understands in a concrete way the value of investing with you.
  3. Your clients have a roadmap to evaluate their own progress and recommit to the process when they need to.

Onelly and I had so much fun putting her New and Improved Signature System together. The key thing I'd like you to listen to is how we shifted away from simply describing what her clients will do in each phase of her system. From there, we leaned into how they'll feel when they hit each milestone in her system.

And the difference is powerful.

For anyone listening, especially those with Hashimoto’s, make sure to check out Onelly's finished product here. Take a look now because you may want to use it as a roadmap as you listen along.

Two Key Points We'll Cover During the Episode:

  • How to structure a signature system to use as a marketing tool to attract clients who may not understand what it means to work with a coach.
  • The difference between "what we'll do language" and "how you'll feel" language in your marketing. HINT: "how you'll feel" language usually packs a bigger punch.

Key Takeaways
Simply put, your signature system is a concise way to illustrate your customer journey.

When a coach has a clear signature system, you can use it to attract leads into your programs. It's also a roadmap for clients as they move through the coaching journey.

Plus, it's a tool that immediately brings more confidence to you, the coach, because it showcases your expertise in an irresistible way.

If you want help developing your own signature system, consider joining The Hive.

05 Oct 2022132. My #1 Unsexy Marketing Strategy00:19:11

We are back with another bonus episode today! My goal is to help you learn from some of the lessons I’ve observed this year inside of the Hive and, of course, doing the work inside of my own business.

On Monday we talked about the importance of solving the right problems. And Tuesday we talked about the value of centering the client whenever you feel stuck rather than centering yourself

Well, today we'll talk about my favorite thing…

…habits!

I love habits. They are so boring and uncool.

But they are actually the reason why I have been in business for 21 years and why I've been able to — over that time — completely change my business 3 times, and change my audience, start from scratch, the whole deal, I've done it.

And because I relied on the same habits over and over again…when it came to revenue, I was able to pick up where I left off each time.

Listen — habits are sexy and slow is actually fast.

If you’re ready to no longer ask yourself “what more should I be doing?” and instead, focus on repeatable habits to build a business you’re truly proud of, get ready to take notes because this episode is for you!

TIMESTAMPS:

00:01:00 - Why we need habits instead of more tactics

00:03:00 - Why are habits important when it comes to running your business?

00:05:00 - Dallas shares the problem with most summit strategies in the coaching space

00:07:00 - Dallas shares an example a Hive Member who realized the importance of a stackable strategy

00:10:00 - How the online coaching space perpetuates the myth of the overnight success

00:12:00 - How to use scorecards to build on your habits

00:15:00 - Why it’s important to have accountability to your habits

22 Oct 2023188. Own Your IP with Audrey Joy Kwan00:44:30

As coaches, some of the best work we do happens in the heat of the moment when we're just really plugged into the client sitting in front of us. Now, you've probably heard me talk about your Signature System before on this show, but today's guest is going to take that whole conversation to an entirely new level and leave you feeling super confident about the value of your work.

Now Audrey Joy Kwan just might be my favorite guest expert this whole year. And I almost didn't invite her to come on because she's an intellectual property expert and I worried that a conversation about IP wouldn't actually help you, the listener, given where your business is at. But I was totally wrong. Couldn't be more wrong.

You see, your intellectual property is simply any system in your business that creates a result for your clients. And, as you'll hear from Audrey, when you identify your IP and own it, you'll sell more easily, your marketing becomes more compelling, and your confidence goes through the roof.

Before I turn it over to Audrey, let me share a bit about her. Audrey is on a mission to show consultants, coaches and marketers they can build a joyful million-dollar service-based business with a lean team. Audrey knows what it takes to build a business with a team — whether it's from solo to two, three, five or twenty — she's done it. So she's here to help you pivot and create delivery systems that give you more freedom from client work so you can get more time and freedom back.

This interview really left me feeling totally uplifted and legit. I hope it has the same effect for you.

In this episode, you'll be learn to:

  • Develop a comprehensive and transferable intellectual property (IP) system.
  • Use a visual roadmap to visually guide your clients through the coaching process, making it easier for them to understand and engage with your coaching services.
  • Provide data-driven responses to client questions about timelines and results, giving them confidence in the effectiveness of your coaching methods.
  • Strike the right balance between structure and creativity in your coaching process, allowing for flexibility and personalization while still providing a clear framework for clients to follow.

If you want to continue the conversation on IP, it doesn't have to stop here. You can join Audrey's free strategic connections roundtable atAudreyjoykwan.com/roundtable

09 Jun 2024217. How To Fall In Love With Selling00:37:59

So, this episode addresses the quiet fear a lot of newer coaches (or let’s be honest… veteran coaches like me) sometimes feel when we enroll a new client or roll out a new offer. What’s that fear? What if I won’t be able to deliver? What if I can’t actually help this client the way they want me to? That was the fear holding today’s guest back from actively selling.

Betsy Seybolt is a coach who believes that mindset is everything and she works to help you find time for yourself and stop your negative thinking. And even though she's a pro at helping others overcome negative thinking, she had some of her own worries to work through during our conversation. You see, though Betsy has a ton of life experience, her coaching business is pretty new and she hasn’t worked with paying clients yet. So a part of Betsy worried that she would not be able to serve her clients fully once they hired her. And it’s really difficult to sell coaching if you don’t quite believe in it. But Betsy has so much evidence in her life to prove that she is capable of holding a coaching container that can indeed deliver. She just needed a new perspective, which is exactly what we worked toward during our conversation.

I want to tell that you that about two weeks after we recorded, our friend Betsy signed a client. So something definitely shifted from our conversation. And I hope you experience a shift as well. If you ever worry you don’t have what it takes, this episode is for you.

08 Nov 202014. When Is It Time to Stop Hustling?00:48:01

Today is the first of a two part series we’ll roll out this week and next. My guest is Malika Williams from the Center for Women’s Voice. Malika took the leap earlier this year to focus on her coaching business full time. And she came into our session feeling some pressure to grow, hustle, and keep up with what she sees other coaches doing online.

But when we got down to Malika’s values and her personal vision for her business, we realized that she doesn’t want to grow right now. She wants ease and flow in her business.

The insights we both had during this conversation were golden, so if you ever find yourself making business decisions from a place of “should” or fear, this episode is a must-listen.

22 Aug 202155. Have You Outgrown Your Niche?00:45:13
My guest today is Izzy Stevens who wishes she was more consistent in her marketing. All the social posts, weekly emails and extra efforts have never felt completely easy for her. And up until recently, Izzy assumed her big block was fear. It’s hard to put yourself out there, so she figured if she could just build more confidence or get over her fear, then marketing would be a piece of cake. But, Izzy came to realize that maybe she was giving her fears more credit (or blame!) then they deserved because what she really lacked was clarity. Izzy’s dream client has shifted since she started coaching, but she hadn’t taken the time to crystalize who her ideal audience is now and what they need to hear. That’s what Izzy and I dug into during today’s episode. We redefined her target audience and then identified four common themes her ideal clients all face. And those became Izzy’s core content pillars making the whole content creating thing feel inspiring rather than draining. Welcome to the third and final episode in our special series all about list building. Let’s talk about strategy, shall we?

My guest is Amy Goldmacher. Amy helps aspiring nonfiction authors go from book idea, to proposal, to draft to getting to a publishable book.  Her clients are often experts who just need help taking all of their expertise and putting it into a book.

Amy has a super fun lead magnet. It’s a bookmark that walks would-be writers through 4-ways to nail down the title of their book.

What’s been missing for Amy is a concrete and repeatable strategy to actually get her lead magnet out in the world.

Not only to build her list, but test the effectiveness of her LM marketing, opt-in page conversion, and how well the lead magnet leads to paying clients.

So, Amy and I walk through 4 simple and repeatable ways she can start promoting her lead magnet and get more aspiring authors on her list.

Get ready to take some notes because I know you can try out at least one of the strategie we discuss today.

You can check out Amy's lead magnet bookmark over at https://www.amygoldmacher.com/booktitlebrainstorm

30 Jan 202285. The Best Things to Focus On In Your Business00:58:10

Most of the coaches who tune into this show don’t have a big support staff taking care of every little thing in the business. For a lot of us… the buck stops with us.

Which means that time is our most precious resource.

My guest today is Jacque Hamilton who helps new writers create a strong emotional connection between their characters and the reader so they can publish their work and write for a living.

And on top of her coaching work, she is a committed mom and an avid athlete.

Now, Jacque doesn’t have a lot of extra time and she came into the show wanting a plan to optimize every moment inside her business.

So, Jacque and I talk through a process she can follow to help her feel completely confident that the actions she chooses to focus on are the right ones.

What I loved about this conversation is that Jacque’s plan is completely customizable and actually built to change depending on the weather… literally…

So, if you never feel like there’s not enough time to get all the things done in your day, please grab a pen and paper to follow along. The truth is that you can’t get it all done in a day, so what you choose to do really matters.

28 Nov 202171. How to Onboard Clients like a Pro00:40:40
If you’ve ever had that oh-no moment when a client says YES and you realize you don’t have an easy way to collect payments, you’re not even sure if you should do that before a contract gets signed and speaking of contracts, you don’t even have one in place… This episode is for you because I am spilling the beans about all things onboarding. In today’s episode I walk Nzinga Moore through the exact workflow I follow whenever I sign a new client. You see, Nzinga is a smart cookie because her coaching business is about to officially launch and she wants to get all of her administrative ducks in a row before then. Nzinga Moore helps actors breakthrough their mental and emotional stuckness to move past doubt, overwhelm, and burnout and finally follow through on their purpose without excuses or fears. I had so much fun walking Nzinga through how to: Set up automatic monthly billing Send a contract after you collect payments Get that first session on the books so your new client doesn’t back out Avoid overwhelming your client with too much prep work And easily track your clients progress without wasting hours writing recap notes If your new client onboarding process isn’t smooth like butter, grab a pen and paper because this episode is right up your alley. 07 Feb 202126. Stop Over-Complicating Your Discovery Sessions00:55:35

Let's talk about discovery sessions, shall we? Whether you call them sales call, enrollment conversations, sample sessions, or a quick chat, these intro conversations with prospective clients can feel dicey.

We love coaching… but selling? Not so much.

My guest is Kate Farrall, a brilliant coach who helps motivated artists earn more money from their work. You see Kate’s clients have talent and creativity to spare, but what they lack is a structure and authentic approach to connect and engage with the people who can show work and invest in their art.

That’s what Kate helps them do. Her work allows artists to get the recognition they deserve and make money doing the creative work they love.

What I love about my session with Kate is that she’s coming up against many of the same fears and obstacles her clients face when it comes to selling her services.

From rigid coaching packages, under-charging, and inconsistent follow-through, Kate and I solve the problems that block most coaches from discovery sessions that convert and actually feel fun.

Back in episodes 13 and 15, I coached two volunteers through creating a hiring plan. But hiring a new team member is the easy part. The real work begins when it’s time to onboard your new hire and set them up for success. That’s where Tianna Tye comes in. She is the founder of The Leaders’ Circle, and the premier Team Dynamics Consultant for entrepreneurs committed to building high-performing teams to scale their business and reclaim their zone of genius. Today, Tianna and I talk about the right way to onboard and train your team. Plus, the importance of setting clear expectations and key performance indicators so everybody knows where they stand and what success in their role looks like. Tianna and I also talked about a mistake most coaches make when training (or should I say not training…) their team members. Plus, why it’s important to host regular team meetings for everyone who works for you. Yes, even your VA who clocks 10 hours per month. As a trained Industrial-Organizational Psychologist, Tianna’s expertise in hiring, team dynamics, and transformational leadership make her a CEO’s secret weapon for managing all things on the “people” side of the business. I learned so much from our conversation and I’m sure it’ll be the same for you. Before we dig in, I want you to press pause and go grab a fun Daily Work Log Tianna created for you. It’s a great way to audit your time and figure out which tasks you should delegate to a new team member. She’ll even give you bonus points if you outline which tasks are revenue-generating. Can you say immediate hiring ROI?! You can grab Tianna’s Daily Work Log now at www.tiannatye.com/daily-work-log. And now… Tianna Tye. 13 Dec 202019. Six Steps to Create Your Next Level Offering00:41:33

Kimberly Miguel Mullen is back in this week’s episode of the Six figure Coach Podcast.

Back in episode 17, Kimberly Miguel Mullen shared her inspiring Six Figure Journey with us.

Today, we get to clarify her next level offering. But we had to be very intentional. If you recall from her last episode, one of Kimberly’s biggest lessons was the importance of simplifying.

So, the last thing I wanted us to do was create another offering that stole back the freedom and time she worked so hard to create for herself this last year.

We do come up with an awesome next level offering, but it took some work because Kimberly fell into the same mistake a lot of coaches do… assuming that the only way to add value is to give more content, more time, more stuff. Sometimes, the extra stuff isn’t actually valuable. It’s just more stuff. You’ll see what I mean inside the episode. So, with that.. Here’s Kimberly.

26 Jun 2022115. 3 Essential Steps Before You Launch a Course00:51:14

This week we’re going to take our course launching conversation even further with my guest, Matthew Eriksen.

Matthew is a very gifted designer and brand expert. He helps service-based entrepreneurs put themselves out there with a clear, confident, and cohesive brand so they can spend less time worrying about the look and feel of their business and more time doing what they love.

Matthew really wants to help as many purpose driven business owners as he can and he understands that not everyone is in a position to hire his full-service branding team.

So, Matthew wants to take his proven branding system and turn it into a course.

But a few questions stand in his way.

1. What’s the best way to deliver this course?

2. What the heck should I call my course?

3. Is my list big enough to actually launch?

Matthew and I tackle those three burning questions during today’s episode and by the end of our conversation, he felt clear and super confident about getting his course out in the world before the end of the year.

The best part though.. Is that his launch goal is different from what you might expect. But you’ll have to stick around until the end of the episode to find out what it is.

So, let’s dive into a powerful course launch conversation with Matthew Eriksen.

Today, we’re going to talk about marketing.

Listen, I believe that marketing should never leave a bad taste in your mouth. And my guest, Christina Smith, agrees.

She’s also really clear that she doesn’t want to spend all of her time marketing instead of coaching. So together we started to create a marketing plan designed to leverage what’s already working in her business and eliminate all of the extras.

Let me introduce you to Christina Smith.  She helps women build authentic confidence so they can finally like themselves.  And Christina feels like she’s done an excellent job of mastering the list building habits we teach inside The Hive.

So, now it’s time to decide what, if anything to layer in next. Maybe a podcast or more free workshops or even a Youtube channel…

Whatever it is, Christina wants to experience more lead gen and a deeper connection with her audience.

And together, we do come up with a bit of a plan, so let’s dive into the episode!

19 Feb 2023153. How to Uncover Your Unique Signature System00:36:03

Hey all my life coaches, authenticity coaches, health coaches, confidence coaches, everybody out there who’s really good at listening to your client and offering up custom tools or insight that completely transforms their lives… this episode is for you.

Because I’m willing to bet that you haven’t given much thought to your signature process because no two clients are the same and no two coaching sessions look alike.  That's probably what you love so much about the work you do.

Yet… those of us in the moment, meet the client where they’re at and help them move forward kinda coaches can sometimes struggle to find the words to accurately represent the work we do.

Nothing can really come close, yet if the only way to truly understand the power of our work is through experiencing it… self promotion and marketing can be a struggle.

This struggle is such an important hurdle to address that I decided to bring back a special episode featuring Leigh Cambre.

He helps optimistic overachievers find balance and room to breathe without losing their edge.

And Leigh is truly an excellent coach with a lot of training under his belt and tools in his pocket.

Which made it difficult for Leigh to find a catchy slogan or marketing jargon to describe his work.  Which, in turn, can make it difficult to bring in more clients.

So, Leigh and I walked through a pretty cool exercise that revealed his signature process.  We even gave it a name - The Cambre Method.  Now, does Leigh’s bright, shiny signature process cover everything he does for his clients? Nope. Does it come close… you better believe it.

If you’re a coach whose work covers a broad range of results and your biggest strength is your ability to simply serve your clients, grab a pen and extra paper because I hope you’ll follow along with my conversation with Leigh to create your signature process too.

Let’s have some fun!

The last time we had Tilita Lutterloh on the show, we talked about a big shift she made in her messaging and ideal client. 28 Aug 2022124. Does Your Marketing Confuse People?00:54:25

What are you known for?

When it comes to your work as a coach, how would your audience complete this sentence?

Oh… I know them… they’re the __________________ coach.

That blank… is really important.  And if your marketing is at all confusing, you’ll get a different answer to that exercise from every person you ask.

Especially if you have a wide range of expertise.

And, if your audience is confused about what it is you do… they’re going to be confused about whether or not to hire you.

But there’s good news here. And don’t worry… I’m not about to tell you to niche down to only serve millennial college grads who work in advertising and want a new career… or women in their sixties coming out of a divorce who want to lose 20 or more pounds.

That may be your target audience, but it’s not your niche and it won’t be what you’re known for.

What you’re known for is your process. Your signature system. Your unique method.

And when you can communicate your unique method in your marketing, people get it.

Plus, you don’t feel boxed in or like a broken record talking about the same thing over and over again in your marketing.

That’s what Emily Taradash learned in today’s episode. You see, Emily loves to help people in a variety of ways. Whether it’s relationships, confidence, or career, Emily is your coach.

But this variety created confusion for her audience and I worried that folks would assume Emily was just confused.

Which is the opposite of what was really going on for her.

So, she and I let go of the shallow approach to niche and messaging and instead clarified her unique process. Which applies to relationships, confidence and career.

And it’s that process that Emily can be known for.  Which gives her freedom to share a wide variety of expertise but link them all back to her clear process.

And just like that… people understand.

So… if the idea of niching ever leaves you feeling limited or you worry that your marketing might actually confuse folks… get ready to take some notes because this conversation is just what the doctor ordered.

Let’s get into it.

TIMESTAMPS:

00:08:00 - Emily’s niche journey and where she’s at now

00:012:00 - What Emily needs to change (and doesn’t) now that her niche is different

00:17:00 - How Emily’s messaging may need to change so that it doesn’t cause confusion for her audience

00:27:00 - How to find the “through-line” in your different offers

00:36:00 - Brainstorming an idea for Emily’s to create an ongoing community or membership program

00:44:00 - The structure to set up Emily’s power group

My guest this week is Tammy Cunningham who’s been suffering from enrollment fatigue for nearly a decade. You know the dread and fear and baggage that comes when it’s time to get into selling mode to fill your next program? That process has always been a drag for Tammy and we were determined to heal it once and for all. And you know… I think we actually did. Tammy realized that she had to let go of the “ghosts of failed launches past” and step into a new and transparent process to fill her upcoming group program. By the end of the session, Tammy had a routine in place for inner healing, a plan to actually enlist her audience’s support to fill her program, and a clear path to launch, for the first time ever, with a webinar. It was so much fun to see Tammy shift from burnt out to enlivened as our conversation unfolded. And I know that if you feel done with selling or just fearful about it, this episode will help you too. Let’s talk about Xandra Hawes. She’s today’s guest and she’s a very gifted spiritual mentor, psychic and healer. Xandra came into our session feeling unclear about the best way to offer the classic coaching discovery sessions because so many clients come to her first for paid psychic readings rather than free info sessions. We ironed out two clear paths to invite clients into ongoing work pretty effortlessly and Xandra now feels confident about what we put together. Along the way, we also talked about pricing and all the big feelings that can come up for those of us committed to impact as much as income. Should you list your prices publicly? What about accessibility for people who may not be able to afford it? If you’re a spiritual person, is it even ethical to charge in the first place? If you’ve ever struggled with the best way to present your offer in discovery sessions or if you’ve wrestled with pricing questions yourself, I think you’ll get at least a couple of ah-has from my session with Xandra. 28 May 2023167. The Art and Ethics of High Ticket Offers00:52:56

My guest today is Merel Kriegsman, a women's wealth advocate, loving mother, and creator of high-value coaching offers.

I invited her to the show to talk about what it takes to sell and deliver coaching at a premium price because nobody does it better.  Merel's unique approach to high-ticket offers demonstrates the perfect blend of ethics and success, proving that it's possible to create a thriving business without compromising on values.

Merel dispelled the myth that the more you charge, the more stuff you have to give.  She spelled out a simple and powerful way to design your premium offer.

Most importantly, though… we talked about the ethical friction many of us can feel about premium pricing.  Yes, it’s a highly profitable business model that makes a dramatic impact on the lives of folks who can afford it.

I think our conversation will spark some ideas for you to help you decide whether or not high ticket offers work for your business.

In this episode, you'll hear more about:

1. How to build high-value, high-ticket offers that leave clients in awe.

2. Why you must strengthen your wealth consciousness to break any ancestral money wounds.

3. What to ask yourself if you want to find the aligned price for you and your audience.

Key Points We Cover:

Why High Ticket Offers Are Valuable

High ticket offers provide a unique opportunity for coaches to deliver a premium, transformative experience to their clients. Clients who invest in high-ticket coaching programs typically have higher expectations, which is why it is essential for coaches to deliver a high level of customization, intimacy, and support in their programs. Working with fewer clients at a higher price point allows coaches to focus on building strong relationships, crafting tailored solutions to each client's needs, and maintaining an effective, person-centered approach. During the podcast, Merel emphasizes the importance of aligning the value of the services offered with the price, and explains that charging higher rates allows coaches to focus on creating a positive impact for a smaller group of clients.

Navigating the Intensity of High Ticket Exchanges

High ticket exchanges can be intense for both coaches and clients, as both parties commit significant financial and emotional investment to the process. Successfully navigating these exchanges requires self-trust, a clear and focused vision, and a commitment to continuous improvement. During the podcast, Merel emphasizes the need for self-trust and remembering the bigger picture in the face of triggers and challenges. Dallas adds that having a plan and acting intentionally helps navigate these intense relationships. By managing these high-pressure situations effectively, coaches can create a more fulfilling and successful coaching business.

06 Feb 202287. 3 Paths to Your Perfect Niche00:55:17

Welcome to Coaches on a Mission. You've got three important steps to take as you listen to all of the episodes on this show (they're pretty binge-worthy, aren't they?).

1. Join the Pod Squad: Access playlists, PDF transcripts and other freebies from every episode inside this members-only bonus vault. To join the Pod Squad go to https://dallastravers.com/squad

2. Check Out the Hive: The folks you hear on this show are members of my 12-month mentorship program, The Hive. If you get value from these free episodes, imagine what's possible when you join this incredible community and have Dallas at your side. To check out the Hive, go to https://dallastravers.com/hive

3. Follow Dallas on Instagram: Where you'll get quick lessons to stay motivated as you build a values-driven, profitable coaching business you're truly proud of. Follow me at https://instagram.com/dallastravers

My guest today is Bex Burton who is a love and relationship coach. And, over the last 18 months, Bex has struggled to attract clients.

Now, client attraction hasn’t always been this challenging for Bex, so we’ve both been on the hunt for that missing link Bex’s business really needs.

I actually came into this episode feeling kinda frustrated because Bex is awesome and her work truly helps people… so what the heck have we been missing?

Inside the Hive, we’ve been working on niching down for Bex and we’ve gotten close… we just hadn’t totally nailed it yet.

But today’s conversation was a turning point because rather than sticking to the traditional, often surface level approach to niching, Bex and I took a three-pronged approach.

We focused on her audience and their shared experience, her process and what makes it unique from other love coaches out there, and Bex’s stance… what matters most to her.

With this deeper approach to niching, Bex and I uncovered three things:

1. The core pillars all of her content must connect back to in order to pack a punch.

2. The value of reflecting her client’s beliefs and lived experience in her message

3. And, the excitement that comes when you're willing to go all in on your stance in your marketing

If you ever wonder how the heck to narrow your niche without pigeon-holing yourself, this episode is a must-listen. So, let’s get started.

08 Dec 2022144. My Best Advice to Sell without Being Salesy00:15:27

Let’s talk about what the heck to do at the end of a sales call when a potential client says.. “Maybe, let me think about it.”

A couple of days ago we talked about the importance of really centering the client which means presenting a clear invitation at the end of every single sales call.

The intention is to give the client the dignity of their own process and, truthfully, some people need time. Whether they need to talk to a partner,  move money around, or they need to just think things through.

So in this episode, I will introduce you to an extremely powerful tool to help you gracefully serve those folks who truly just need to take a beat before they decide AND to help you do so in a way where you don’t feel like some sort of weird stalker.

Sounds great, huh? Let’s dive in!

TIMESTAMPS:

19 Mar 2023157. Are You Brave Enough To Own Your Niche?00:37:19

One thing I say often is that you cannot build a business with free stuff you find on the internet.

That includes this podcast - even though every episode is rich with insight and tangible actions… it’s not the same as following a structured, proven, values-aligned path that leaves out all the guesswork.

Which is why I’d love to invite you to apply to join The Hive. This is a year long mentorship program designed to give you the step by step tools and actions you need to really do this coaching thing. You can apply to join the hive and book a 1:1 call with me directly at dallastravers.com/apply.

Now… let me introduce you to today’s guest.  Her name is Trudi Remer and the work she is up to is so very important.  Trudi helps folks feel their big feelings so they can finally answer the question, “what’s next for me?”.

Trudi is so skilled at holding space for people in grief. Yet, she’s also seen that most folks… they don't want to talk about grief.  Grief is taboo in American culture, so Trudi has struggled to find the right marketing message to draw people in.

Yet Trudi knows that a huge part of her mission is to normalize grief… to bring it into the light.

And I think Trudi gave herself permission to do just that by the end of our conversation today.

Now, put your coaching ears on as you listen because you’re going to notice how resistance came up for Trudi and worked to distract her from her mission.  We had a real breakthrough moment during this recording and I hope it inspires you to be a little more brave about your niche and how you share your mission.

12 Dec 202173. How to Find More Paying Clients00:45:20
Today’s episode is a special one because we’re going to tackle the most common question I get asked...which is, “how can I find more paying clients?” But I’m not going to answer that question for you. Instead, I’ve invited four coaches, just like you to do it. Toya Gavin, Laser Malena Webber, Leigh Cambre, and Benno Nelson all came into the Hive asking me this very question. And within a matter of months, all four learned exactly how to nail their marketing message to attract perfect-match leads, and then, host authentic, non-salesy discovery sessions to turn those leads into happy paying clients. This episode comes at the perfect time because the new year is approaching and I’m willing to bet you’ve got big client-getting goals ahead of you. Which is why I want to invite you to join me for a special free workshop called Clients From Scratch I’ll host next week. I’m going to share the exact framework I’ve used to keep a full client roster for over a decade and the same one I teach my Hive members. 12 Feb 2023152. Raise Your Voice. Write A Book.00:58:20

My guest today is Jennie Nash who is the founder and CEO of Author Accelerator, a company that trains, certifies, and supports book coaches so they can help writers do their best work.

I invited Jennie to the show for many reasons.

First, she has really mastered the art of delivering as a coach and course creator.  Her Author accelerator program truly is unmatched. We are lucky enough to have a little cohort of AA coaches inside The Hive and they all sing Jennie’s praises.  So, I knew she was someone I wanted to know.

Secondly, Jennie is super smart and really committed to helping us all raise our voices and tell our stories through book writing.

Her own coaching clients have landed top New York agents and six-figure book deals with traditional publishing houses such as Penguin, Scribner, Simon & Schuster, and Hachette.

They’ve also won dozens of national indie book awards. And her Client KJ Dell’Antonia’s novel, The Chicken Sisters, was an instant New York Times bestseller and Reese Witherspoon Book Club pick.

Jennie and I had a really enlivening conversation about why every coach should write a book, what it really takes to write a GOOD book, and of course we dish about the books on our nightstands right now.

You should know that Jennie herself is the author of 11 books in 3 genres, including Blueprint for a Nonfiction Book: Plan and Pitch Your Idea and Blueprint for a Book: Build Your Novel from the Inside Out. Visit her at authoraccelerator.com and jennienash.com

And if you are a coach on a mission, which I know you are or you wouldn’t be listening, get ready to get inspired to raise your own voice.  I even had a breakthrough during this interview and Jennie’s got my wheels turning on my next book.

She’s just that good.

Here’s Jennie Nash!

BOOKS WE MENTIONED:

This Is Not A Book About Benedict Cumberbatch by Tabitha Carvan

Your Invisible Network by Michael Urtuzuástegu Melcher (one of Jennie's clients)

A Taste of Opportunity by Renee Guilbault (another client of Jennies!)

I'm Glad My Mom Died by Jennette McCurdy

09 Apr 2023160. 6 Steps to Stand Out in a Crowded Market00:42:07

You're listening to Coaches on a Mission - I’m your host Dallas Travers and today, we need to have a real conversation about how you can avoid what Jona Xiao calls The Sea of Sameness.

If you ever worry that too many coaches do what you do and there’s nothing that really makes you special, this episode just might blow your mind.

My guest is Jennifer Jakobsen who helps business owners who want to make a difference slay their self doubt and desperation so they can show up with the kind of authenticity that attracts paying clients over and over again.

Jennifer came into our conversation with a simple question…How can I leverage my strengths, skills, and background to stand out in a crowded market?

Well dear listener, I’m not sure if you’ve noticed… but we business coaches coaching other coaches on how to find coaching clients… We’re kind of everywhere.

And Jennifer had a hunch that she was making marketing harder than it had to be simply because she couldn’t quite pinpoint what exactly makes her special.

Before I hand Jennifer the mic, let me share the six steps we designed to help her stand out in a crowded market.

Step 1: Identify what you want your clients to celebrate when they wrap up your work together?

Step 2: Clarify the thing that holds them back from their goal.

Step 3: Choose a specific snapshot in time that illustrates where your dream client is at when they’re ready to hire you.  The clearer the better on this one.

Step 4: Name the skills, perspectives, experience and expertise you bring to the table to help your clients accomplish their goals.

Step 5: With those things in mind, what process would you take a client through to get them from where they stand today to the goal they hope to celebrate in the future.

Step 6: Own your Blue Ocean - the unique place in your industry that only you occupy and where competitors don’t exist.

All right… this episode was one of my favorites in a while. So, let’s take a listen, shall we?

14 Nov 202169. Two Ways to Help Clients Say YES to Working Together00:47:47
Have you ever had those moments where a potential new client gushes over the free content you put out, the way you put yourself out there, and the work that you do? They can’t say enough good stuff about how much you’ve already helped them and how they can’t wait to work with you... one day... when they’re ready? While this compliment might feel great, it's mostly just confusing because you see so clearly how you could help this person accomplish their goals really easily. You also understand that the idea of being ready… isn’t exactly real. We work with coaches because we don’t know how to move forward, so what does ready even look like, right? When situations like this happen often, you might get discouraged and wonder “what am I doing wrong? “People say I’m so awesome, and yet nobody wants to hire me.” If what I just described rings a bell, you’ll love today’s episode. My guest is Chris Vaglio who is a super dynamic, successful, and smart guy who came into our conversation wondering this very thing. Chris is a business and personal branding coach who helps creative business owners build a rock star brand to get noticed, feel confident and bring in more clients. And while Chris didn’t really see it, I noticed something that I see in other Hive members as well. For lack of a better word, let’s call it the intimidation factor. As a coach, you may look like you’ve got it all going on and people just assume that they aren’t ready or don’t have that same special sauce that you do, so the idea of working with you is kind of intimidating. I had a feeling that the intimidation factor might be the thing standing between Chris and all the clients he dreams of. So, we dug into how to best approach this odd phenomenon and create a permission structure that allows clients to feel confident about hiring you. This included two key pieces. First, simply narrating what’s actually going on in your marketing and your sales conversations. Second, believe it or not… niching way down to turn the client's decision from a “that sounds cool for some day down the road” to an “oh! I need to work with you right now.” Lots of ground to cover in what’s been one of my favorite episodes so far… let’s dive in shall we? 12 Nov 2023191. Are You Afraid to Go All In?00:39:35

I want to set today's episode up a little differently than I normally do because it's such a fantastic example of what can happen often inside of a coaching session.

The client comes in with a problem to solve.

The coach asks open ended questions to uncover the root of the problem.

The two agree on a potential solution and begin strategizing a plan to move forward.

Only when the plan begins to take shape do they then realize that they're actually solving the wrong problem.

So, back to the drawing board they go.

While these sessions may seem like a big waste of time, I find them to be incredibly valuable because they help the client root back into what matters most and therefore recommit to themselves and their mission.

That’s exactly what happened for today's guest Suzette Mullen who helps LGBTQIA+ folks raise their voice and write a memoir.

Suzette came into our session wondering what extra offer she should include for her audience.

And after a lot of discussion, we landed back where we began…

Suzette committed to go all in on the offer she believes in the most. The offer she knows will make the biggest impact on her clients. The offer that might feel a little scary to put out there. But the offer she's truly meant to deliver.

Sometimes the answer to our biggest business questions isn't to add more. Instead it's to go deeper.

I hope our conversation inspires you.

Key Takeaways

  • New offers aren't always the answer to growing your business and making more money.

  • There's a delicate balance to strike in expanding services while maintaining quality and commitment to the existing programs

19 Jun 2022114. Is It Time to Launch a Course?00:50:41

This episode dives into one of my favorite things to teach about.

Course Launches.

This might surprise you because we don’t talk about course launching very often on this show, but launching is actually one of my super powers.

But there’s a good reason why this show doesn’t over-emphasize course launches. And that’s because too many experts in the online space tout the myth that anybody can just use your life experience to create a course and once you do… it’ll somehow miraculously just sell and voila… you’ve got a six, seven, even eight figure business on your hands.

There are a lot of steps that must happen in order for your business to reap the benefits of a scaled offering, such as a course — which is why inside The Hive we practice The Ripple Effect System.

But… believe me when I tell you that a successful course launch is indeed in your future.

And that’s where today’s guest, Elizabeth Ruth has found herself.

Yet, Elizabeth came into our conversation with a lot of doubts and specific questions she needed addressed in order to give herself permission to finally launch her course.

Elizabeth is the proud owner of ER Marketing Services.  Her team helps entrepreneurs implement the systems they need to knock their marketing out of the park.  She has a proven system that can easily become a course and our goal during this episode was to turn her course into a reality.

If you want to design and launch a course — the right way — grab a pen and paper because you’ll want to take a bunch of notes.

And, now… let’s talk courses, shall we?

06 Oct 2022133. Fail Fast, My Friend00:20:22

Welcome to episode 4 in our special 5 part series.

All week, I’m reflecting on some of the lessons I’ve learned and observed this year inside of the Hive.

Today, I want to talk about making mistakes.

More specifically, how doing something wrong is actually required in order to get it right?

And I get it, ok? Honestly, saying that makes me gag a little bit because I don't like making mistakes, especially in front of people.

But the truth is that, by being an entrepreneur, we’ve actually signed up to make mistakes in public. Our messaging, marketing, social media…

Everything is a giant guessing game. We're testing everything. And this can feel so frustrating.

But here’s the thing: getting it wrong is the first step toward getting it right.

So, if you’re ready to write yourself a permission slip today to “not get it perfect, and just get it going”, tune in now.

TIMESTAMPS:

00:01:00 - Doing it wrong, is the first step towards getting it right

00:03:00 - Dallas shares about her experience overcoming perfectionism

00:06:00 - A story of a hive member who “failed” all year long and where she’s at now

00:10:00 - How you can apply the “fail fast” practice to your own business

Here’s a question: what the heck are you supposed to talk about when you don’t have anything to sell?

Once your client roster is full and you’ve moved into a launch model with a course or group program, it’s hard to promote your offerings when they’re not actually available.

That’s the issue today’s guest faced. Her name is Sarah Light. She’s the creator of the beautiful yearly planner called Sol Planners.  BTW… we’ve linked to her gorgeous planners in the show notes. I have one and it’s so super yummy.

Sarah sells a lot of planners from October to about Mid February.  After that, she doesn’t have any offerings… and doesn't want them.

Yet, because her business serves coaches, she gets the importance of list building and engaging your audience. But that’s always felt off because how much can you really talk about planners in June, right?

But the two of us do a pretty good job of creating a year-long marketing plan designed to maintain a solid connection with her audience and build up a ton of anticipation for the glorious day when the next year’s planners drop.

Even though Sarah sells a product and you may be a coach, you likely need a year long marketing plan so that when you do move into a launch or a client surge, your audience is waiting with bated breath to dive in.

So let’s get into it…

My guest today is Michelle Pollack. Like a lot of us, Michelle keeps growing and learning which means her niche and her passions keep deepening and shifting. So, the target audience Michelle started with is not the same target audience she wants to attract any longer. Michelle helps smart, driven women discover their authentic voice and own it as their superpower, and to trust themselves so they can realize their full potential. And yet, she finds herself disconnected from her own authentic voice and unsure about her own superpowers. Michelle came into our session assuming that the problem to solve was to clarify her newly updated target audience, but what we quickly discovered was that she needed to give herself permission to take a firmer stance in her messaging to connect with her dream clients in a powerful way. So, we dig into some messaging in the episode, but more importantly, we tackle the self-doubt that often plagues many coaches who believe they’re good at coaching, but marketing isn’t their thing. I hope you enjoy it.
21 Apr 2024210. Should You Offer Coaching Scholarships00:42:06

Welcome to Coaches on a Mission. You've got three important steps to take as you listen to all of the episodes on this show (they're pretty binge-worthy, aren't they?).

Today we’re going to talk about scholarships. Let's draw a clear distinction between discounts and scholarships. A while back, inside the Hive, we had a member share that someone requested a scholarship into her program. After a little negotiation back and forth, this coach said yes to the client’s scholarship request. But when we really looked at the circumstance, this client didn’t earn a scholarship, they just got a discount, which is not equitable or sustainable. There's nothing wrong with offering discounts, but don’t confuse them with scholarships. A scholarship is something that is awarded on the basis of merit, achievement or other qualification. Scholarships require structure, clear criteria, intention and an equitable process to evaluate the winners. We need to be thoughtful about when, why and to whom we decide to grant scholarships.

So that sets the stage for today’s episode. Dani Abernathy is back and this time, she’s ready to begin the process of rolling out an equitable, sustainable scholarship program. Now, I am not a DEIB coach, but I have given a lot of thought to the idea of scholarships and you’ll hear me ask Dani some essential Getting Started questions to help her begin to evaluate the shape of her scholarship program. So, if you have ever made the common mistake of slapping a discount on your offer and calling it a scholarship or maybe you want to develop an aligned scholarship program in your own business, then this episode is for you.

Key Takeaways

  • Alignment with Mission
  • Equity over Fairness
  • Clear Expectations and Support
  • Clarity in Selection
  • Financial Aid Approach
  • Focus on Impact

03 Mar 2024203. Give Your Coaching Offers a Tune-Up00:45:08

Today's guest is Amy Behimer who helps people with autoimmune disease take control of their health so they can feel better today and worry less about tomorrow.

Amy is such an incredible example of a coach who always strives to center her clients. And over the last little while she's been tweaking her offers and her pricing in order to discover what will serve her audience the best while still feeding her business.

So, Amy came into our session with a pretty clear idea about the changes she wanted to make to bring back a course and restructure her membership. And the two of us just put our heads together to help her feel confident about the changes she wants to put in place.

Amy realized a couple of things about her audience:

A course with a beginning, a middle and an end is the perfect foundation her clients need to then grow and move forward in a less structured way.
A membership with a one time fee is the best container to help folks move forward with enough support yet no pressure.
So, absorbing her course into her membership made perfect sense for Amy.

Now, whether you're still working with 1:1 clients or you've got all sorts of offerings, what I invite you to plug into is how we both centered the client as we determined the best changes Amy could make in her business.

So, as you listen along, please ask yourself, when I center my client, what if any changes should I make to the structure of my business?

Key Takeaways

  • Client-Centered Evolution: Amy's journey reflects the importance of adapting offerings based on client needs and feedback.
  • Integration of Programs: Integrating the Autoimmune Academy into the membership program provides structure and enhances client experience.
  • Continuous Improvement: Embracing a mindset of continuous improvement fosters excellence and client satisfaction.
  • Infrastructure for Growth: Establishing infrastructure for scalability and ongoing improvement supports long-term success.
  • 1-on-1 Connection: Prioritize establishing a personal connection with potential clients through pre-enrollment calls to understand their needs better.
  • Longer Payment Plans: Consider offering longer payment plans to increase business profitability and attract more clients, but be mindful of potential defaults.

Today we’re going to talk today about a simple, first step to scaling which is small group coaching. My guest is Brynn Barale who empowers breast cancer survivors to lose weight without dieting so they can live a kick ass life after cancer. Last year, Brynn launched her first power group, which is the way we describe small groups inside The Hive. While Brynn loved working with her small group, she realized that she needs a retention plan to enroll her members into the next offer - whether that offer is to continue in the group or move into a different container. So, Brynn and I got to work designing the shape of her group coaching container and outlining a plan to invite current clients, power group members and even former clients into it. This was one of those coaching conversations where the client leaves feeling so enlivened and clear about their vision that they’re moved to tears. I love coaching sessions like this because they show us when we’re all aligned.

Let me highlight the steps Brynn and I took to turn her dream of a group coaching program into a clear vision she can act on.

Step One: Understand what your clients need.

Step Two: Build your program around your client’s feedback understanding what your own boundaries might be.

Step Three: Remember that less is more. People join a community to experience belonging more than anything else.

Step Four: Invite folks into your program. This can be a full blown launch, or it could be as simple as personally inviting a handful of current or former clients to get the ball rolling.

Okay, now that you’ve heard the high level overview, let’s get into the nitty gritty of designing a smart, simple and aligned retention program to serve your clients long term.

13 Nov 2022139. Two Important Skills You Need In Your Marketing00:47:29

Today’s episode will help you leverage two important marketing skills.

Narrating + Story telling.

That’s what my guest, Erin Young discovered when we dove into her Signature System to uncover the simplest and most compelling way to convey her message in her marketing.

Now I know that narrating and story telling sound like they’re the same thing, but they’re different in this context.

Narrating occurs when you explain exactly what you’re doing while it’s happening.

Storytelling helps your audience understand your work more deeply because they’re able to see themselves in the stories you tell.

If you ever feel like nobody quite understands what exactly you do. Or maybe you lean too hard into being a professor instead of storytelling…

Perhaps you just want to be able to layer more creativity and connection into your marketing…

either way… you’re going to love the conversation I had with Erin.

Erin Young helps natural health practitioners share their craft authentically, moving beyond the grind with purpose, stability, calm and connection. But Erin’s niche is evolving and her Signature System felt confusing.

But when we let go of the idea that her target audience needs to fit a certain occupation, Erin discovered that Sometimes the best way to define our ideal client is defining the moment of time they are in.

I’ll confess that I came into the conversation feeling a little nervous because inside The Hive Erin and I have struggled a bit to pin down her signature system.

But everything clicked in this episode and I cannot wait for you to hear the breakthroughs we both had.

I also want to shout out my friend Marisa Corcoran who inspired a tool Erin and I played around with. It’s called the Story Strip Down and Marisa actually taught it on this very show. It’s episode 25 and we’ve linked to it in the show notes.

Okay.I’m ready to do this. Let’s dive in.

18 Jul 202149. Do You Struggle With Over Responsibility?00:41:38
Okay… I know I’ve said this before and I’ll likely say it again.. But today’s episode of the Six Figure Coach Podcast is my very favorite so far. My guest today is Benno Nelson who began coaching just a few months ago. After a super successful career as a video editor, Benno now helps video freelancers grow their business, achieve their goals and move from working gig to gig to a prosperous career. Like a lot of newer coaches (let’s be real… I even fall into this trap from time to time and I’ve been coaching for nearly 20 years!)... Benno has fallen into Over Responsibility. This occurs when we focus more on proving our worth than we do on providing value to the client. Benno and I talk through a few ways that overresponsiblity shows up for him and troubleshoot easy solutions so that he can help his clients feel empowered and help himself feel less pressure. Grab something to take notes on because you’ll learn about how traction reports help your clients stay on track, how Google folders are your new best friend, and even how to structure coaching groups to deliver the same benefit that comes with privates. There’s a lot packed inside this episode, so let’s get going. 27 Jun 202146. Overcome Your Fear of Being on Camera00:32:21
Today’s episode comes directly from a recent 6FCC coaching call where Toya Gavin and I developed a clear, repeatable process to help her overcome her fear of being on camera and start going live on Instagram. Toya helps Women of Color in the Law find better jobs. And in order to get over her resistance, Toya tapped into a sense of purpose that outweighs all of her fears. If you struggle to stay consistent in your marketing or you just play small, this behind the scenes episode is just what the doctor ordered. Let’s take a listen. 30 May 202142. What Happens When Resistance Rules?00:39:19
Today’s episode is different from any other I’ve recorded and I almost decided not to share it with you because my goal with each episode is to serve up some tangible actions you can apply in your own business. That did not happen this time around. You know those client sessions that don’t seem to go anywhere right away. Maybe that’s because the client isn’t receptive or you as the coach just aren’t connecting the way you’re accustomed to? That’s what happened when Denise Gaffney joined me. Denise is a pilates and wellness coach who helps her clients develop a core connection in a holistic way. Denise is a mom who is very protective of her time and her energy. And she’s noticed a trend which is that no matter how much money the business brings in, she’s never quite able to pay herself the salary she wants. So, Denise came into the episode looking for a lasting breakthrough around her money mindset. While she and I both agreed that this was a tall order, we dove in wholeheartedly. And I will say that we got somewhere. But it took work. Now, I almost didn’t air this episode because I feared it wouldn’t be valuable to you, the listener. Then, I realized that we’re all coaches here and this episode is a great example of two things: There will be times when our clients feel such resistance that it’s challenging to make progress. How we meet that resistance matters. During those times, we must honor our client’s process. Even if it doesn’t match our agenda. While I’m usually pretty good at giving every client the dignity of their own process, I lost track of that in this session. And it shows. So, rather than ditch the episode, I thought it would be helpful to share it and maybe you’ll gain some insight by witnessing another coach showing up and struggling a bit. With that, here’s episode #42. 05 Mar 2023155. 7 Steps to Design Your Membership00:53:27

Inside The Hive, we practice The Ripple Effect System which is all about building your business out in layers so you can gain true traction, make more money, and feel less stress.

The system starts with finding clients, then becoming more visible, and finally scaling with a course, membership, mastermind, or large group program.

My guest today is ready to scale.

Her name is Jolea Payne and she helps social impact leaders build thriving organizations that center community and deliver high-impact programming without burning themselves out.

Jolea finds that a lot of leaders in non-profit don’t really have the budget to invest in private coaching, plus they often feel isolated, so a membership is the perfect solution to both of those problems.

Here are the 7 Steps Jolea and I laid out to ensure that Jolea builds a membership that’s truly valuable rather than filled with a bunch of fluff.

1. Identify the core promise of the membership

2. Pinpoint each milestone members will hit as they progress toward that promise

3. Outline the core content inside the membership

4. Create a production schedule so nobody feels swamped at launch time

5. Design a launch plan… this is something we cover in great detail inside The Hive, so if a course or membership launch is in your future… make sure to apply to join us at https://dallastravers.com/apply

6. Clarify what, if any, additional support members will need in order to be successful and feel empowered inside the program.

7. Set a launch date to make the plan feel real.

On top of setting her members up for success, we made sure Jolea would be successful with her launch as well. And I think we accomplished both goals by the end of the episode.

I hope you’ve got a pen and fresh paper to take some notes because this episode is super juicy.

Enjoy it!

14 Mar 202131. Be More Decisive to Overcome Overwhelm01:01:29
Have you ever heard the phrase “A confused mind says no”? Basically, when faced with too many options, our brains freeze and we choose nothing. That’s the trap this week’s guest, Annie Little found herself in with her business. Annie is a voice coach who helps passionate singers finally find their full, true voice without strain, breaks, or cracks so they can express with freedom and authenticity. She’s also my voice coach and she’s helped me finally be able to sing without breaking into tears, so I adore her. Now, Annie’s business is growing quickly and she sees how she’s the bottle neck. She has a bunch of creative ideas and important tasks on her to-do list. Her private client roster is basically full and she wants to create a group offering or membership. But, she still doesn’t have all the foundations in place to put consistent content out in the world. And, she’s stretched thin. With so many possibilities and must-dos, Annie came to our session feeling pretty paralyzed. But we worked through it together to help her prioritize the most immediate tasks and create a timeline for the year. If you’re stuck in analysis paralysis, this episode will be a life saver because it offers a framework to make decisions and commit to action. 11 Jan 202278. Reconnect to Ecology to Feel More Purpose + Agency with Erin Young00:23:19
Today, I continue my conversation with another Hive member who is truly on a mission. And her name is Erin Young. She helps natural health practitioners share their craft authentically; moving beyond the grind with purpose, stability, calm & connection. Erin believes that as humans, we are part of ecology. And by reconnecting fully with that ecology, we can have a broader impact and more meaning in our lives. Erin and I talk about what mission actually means and how as a coach on a mission, values play a massive role in the work we do. I don’t think I’ve ever interviewed a more intentional, inquisitive, or thought-filled person on this show and I know you’ll get so much value from Erin’s perspective and intentionality. I actually walked away from our interview thinking, “I want to have conversations like this every day.” So, without further ado, here’s Erin Young. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. 11 Dec 2022145. The Secrets to Find Paying Clients00:42:27

Today’s episode is a special one because we’re going to tackle the most common question I get asked...which is, “how can I find more paying clients?”

But I’m not going to answer that question for you. Instead, I’ve invited four coaches, just like you, to do it.

We first aired this episode back in 2020 but I wanted to bring it back because enrollment for client surge is now open.  Class begins on January 13th, but we are enrolling now so you can enjoy the end of the year knowing you have a proven plan in place to find clients come January.

So, what IS Client surge… it’s a step by step system I designed to help you sign 7 paying clients in 30 days by leveraging your natural strengths instead of relying on some salesy or inauthentic marketing funnel.

To help you decide if you want to join us for the January cohort, I invite you to check out Module One for free.

You can do that at https://joinclientsurge.com/testdrive.

Module one will introduce you to the Client Surge strategy, the process, the metrics we’ll track so by the time you’ve reviewed the full module, I am confident that you’ll know for sure if Client Surge is a Yes or a No for you.

So, again, please visit https://joinclientsurge.com/testdrive to test drive the first module and do it NOW because enrollment for client surge ends on december 16th.

Now, for today’s guests:

Toya Gavin, Laser Malena Webber, Leigh Cambre, and Benno Nelson all came into the Hive asking me the question you’ve probably been asking yourself..

How do I find paying clients?

And within a matter of months, all four learned exactly how to nail their marketing message to attract perfect-match leads, and then, host authentic, non-salesy discovery sessions to turn those leads into happy paying clients.

They’re going to spill the tea about how Client Surge helped them answer this question, so I hope you enjoy the episode.

It’s called The Profitable Coach Roadmap and it’s one part training session, one part roundtable discussion. In fact, one of the guest speakers is Liz Thogerson, who’s actually my guest on this very episode.

Liz went from earning $17K to $150K in about a year and half and she’s going to take you behind the scenes of exactly how she made that happen. She’ll be joined by two other Hive members who’ve got similar stories and tools to share with you, so I hope you'll join us at the Profitable Coach Roadmap. 08 Aug 202152. Offerings That Align With Your Values00:37:45
I’m just thrilled to introduce today’s guest to you. Her name is Kelli King-Jackson and she helps Black women working in white spaces. She’s been feeling a lot of tension around how to keep her work accessible and equitable while still generating the revenue she deserves. The first thing Kelli and I did in this session was to get clear on her mission. From there, we crunched some numbers to help Kelli feel clear about how many clients she can serve and at what price point. … yes you will hear me do math in public, which you know is not my strong suit. Kelli walked away from our conversation with a three tiered plan in place that aligns with her mission and values and will produce a six figure income. Here’s what it looks like: 1. Private clients who are in a position to pay Kelli’s full rate. 2. Group clients who pay a reduced rate. 3. An impact program where Kelli will scholarship spots in her group program to those women who qualify. It was so much fun and, once we got clear about her mission and the numbers, it was actually surprisingly easy to create the offerings structure. If you serve an audience that just isn’t in a position to pay the big bucks a lot of coaching programs recommend you charge, you’re going to love this episode. https://www.iamkelli.com Linkedin: https://www.linkedin.com/in/kkingjackson
19 Dec 202174. Are You Sales Avoidant?00:54:55
I’m sure most of us can agree that as much as we love coaching, selling can often feel like a necessary evil. And because we don’t love selling, we don’t practice and therefore, we don’t ever get better at selling. But what if you could transform your sales avoidance into a passion for selling? Sounds like a big leap, doesn’t it? My guest today is Annie P Ruggles who says she was the single most sales avoidant coach for years - even though she was a marketing consultant. Annie watched too many heart-centered businesses struggle to sell. Even her clients who had flawless marketing, but zero selling skills because they modeled Annie - who as I mentioned was completely sales avoidant. So, Annie had to redefine selling for herself, unlearn all the behaviors that felt out of integrity, and fall in love with the true art of selling in order to help her own business, as well as serve her clients. Today, Annie and I talk about how to overcome sales avoidance and we even compare notes of our separate approaches to sales conversations. No matter how comfortable (or uncomfortable) you are asking for the sale, you’ll gain some valuable insight from our conversation. So, with that… let’s dive into the episode. 28 Feb 202129. Feeling Unclear? Put Blinders On + Get to Work00:37:41

Have you ever suffered from breakthrough backlash?   It usually happens about a week after you’ve had a massive moment of clarity in your business when everything seems to come together.

Yet, when it’s time to follow through on that pivotal moment, you get cold feet, feel confused, and second-guess everything.

That’s exactly what happened for Melissa Costello after she realized it was time to take her coaching business in an entirely new direction.

We actually shared Melissa’s breakthrough moment in Episode 12 of this show, but since then, things haven’t been all rainbows and dollar bills for Melissa.

She’s felt incredibly stuck, unfocused, and fearful about what to do to generate revenue right now while still building this new brand.

In today’s episode, Melissa realizes that she’s a heck of a lot more clear than she thought she was and confusion was just showing up as a cunning form of resistance.

The two of us break through that resistance today to help Melissa put on blinders and focus on repeatable habits to fully commit to her new business and bring it to life.

07 May 2023164. Shift Your Mindset To Enjoy Your Business00:52:44

Welcome to Coaches on a Mission and thank you so much for tuning in.

We spend a lot of time on this show diving into strategy. And while some mindset work sneaks in here and there, it’s not a major focus of this show.

Yet, a self supportive mindset is crucial as you build your business.

Putting yourself out there every day, pouring so much care and time into serving your clients, and taking on the risks that come with business building are really big deals.

So, today’s episode will dive deeper into mindset work.

My guest today is Lauren Litt who is the founder of Lil Shameless Plug.  Lauren is on a mission to help coaches who don't like social media but know they need it for their biz to build a thriving community online.

And over the last few years, her business has really grown.  But Lauren feels stretched too thin without a ton of time to devote to things other than work.

She came into the episode feeling aware that something inside her needs to shift so she can show up for herself the was she needs to.  But neither of us were exactly sure what it might take to make that happen.

But after some coaching and exploration, we discovered that it’s time for Lauren to drop her hard worker badge of honor and allow herself to receive more easily.

With this discovery, we created a 3 step plan for Lauren to shift from the inside out.  Here’s what that looks like:

1. Understand that no matter how deeply ingrained our self image might be, we can consciously redesign it.

2. Practice daily free form writing to uncover and release the deeply rooted beliefs that keep you stuck in a self image that may not serve you.

3. Forgive yourself for the judgments you’ve held about yourself and others.

So, if you feel like the missing link between you and the next level just might be a different mindset, get ready to take some notes and explore your own self image.

Today is the day you and I are finally going to launch that Youtube channel we’ve both been thinking about.

My guest is Malasia Johnson whose superpower is helping creators build a life they want and entrepreneurs become known on YouTube.

Malasia and I got right down to business because…

Selfishly, I’ve always wanted to be one of those coaches with a beautiful weekly longform youtube series shot in HD with a big production crew and all the bells and whistles.

Which is precisely why I don’t have a youtube channel to speak of.

But Malasia breaks the process down into tangible steps and she is so good at tackling the mindset crap that blocks us from being more visible.

Even if you’re not at all interested in being a YouTuber, you’ll love Malasia’s interview because her insights apply no matter what platform you want to become more visible on.

Okay… let’s dive in. Here’s Malasia Johnson

12 Jun 2022112. Is Your Lead Magnet Even Helpful?00:54:34

We are back to talk some more about lead magnets and today we’ll get pretty specific and focus on how to design a quiz.

My guest today is Valerie Recore. She helps overwhelmed moms spend quality time with their families without feeling pulled in too many directions, giving them a sense of control over their days without guilt or chaos.

And Valerie wants a lead magnet that’s easy for her audience to engage with and doesn’t just contribute to their very long to-do list.

And I think we came up with a really fun idea inspired by my favorite lead magnet – the quiz.

Quizzes are so fantastic because, well, who doesn’t want to take a 90 second quiz and learn a bit more about themselves??

And when you put intentional effort into your quiz, your audience can feel incredibly seen and understood. Which of course, helps them trust you.

Be sure to tune in on Thursday this week because we’re going to take the quiz conversation further with Chanti Zak (who truly is the Quiz Queen).

And the perfect place to start is today’s episode with Valerie… so dive in!

This conversation left me googling all things biohacking afterward because my guest, Tanessa Shears, is really onto something.

She’s committed to helping business owners, just like us, be more productive, happy and impactful in our work thanks to biohacking.

What’s biohacking? Great question. Essentially, biohacking is the practice of making incremental lifestyle or health changes to improve your personal performance.

I’ll let Tanessa tell you all about it. But the part of biohacking we dove into is…

SLEEP.  One of my favorite pastimes.

Tanessa will reveal the truth about how much sleep we actually need to perform at our best and how to improve the quality of your sleep to accomplish bigger goals in your business.

It was an illuminating conversation for me… and yes… I even bought some red goggles afterward.

17 Mar 2024205. Your Ick-Free Lead Magnet Plan00:37:05

List building — It’s something that a lot of coaches put on the back burner because they’re overwhelmed or unsure about the best strategies to implement. And yet, list building is the crucial step we all must embrace if you ever want to expand beyond 1:1 coaching…

And I don’t want you to wait until you’re ready to launch a course before you start to build your list. List building takes some time, so set yourself up for success NOW by making it a priority in your business. To help you feel more confident around this, we are bringing back five of our best episodes dedicated to list building and lead magnets. Up first is Nic Frick who helps new moms find the right fit job they actually want so that they can add more joy and ease to their lives.

Nic came into our conversation feeling like lead magnets are gross and was unsure about how to deliver a lead magnet that’s truly valuable without being overwhelming. So, first we worked to design the right lead magnet for her business model and her values (AND aligns with what her dream clients actually NEEDS first). And here’s the cool thing… After we got really clear about the intention and design of her lead magnet, most of Nic’s icky feelings about lead magnets just evaporated.

If you find yourself staring at a blank screen and getting overwhelmed anytime you sit down to design your lead magnet, this episode is a must listen.

Key Takeaways:

  • Mindset Shift
  • Clear Objectives
  • Client-Centric Approach
  • Simplicity Overload
  • Scalability
  • List Building Strategies

26 Feb 2023154. How to Speak to Two Different Dream Clients00:46:01

I have to confess that I came into recording this episode feeling really confident about the direction the conversation would take.  And I was completely wrong.

My guest is Amanda Meri who helps two very different groups of people.

Inside her Gut Healing Academy, Amanda helps folks reverse their chronic illness by healing their guts.

The second group Amanda serves doesn’t struggle with chronic illness.  But they want to boost their energy and eat the food they love without gaining weight, getting bloated, or having any pain.

So, the question  Amanda had for me was “How do I market two businesses at one time?”

My answer before our conversation was, “Well, you don’t.  It’s twice the work for you and too confusing for your audience.

Yet… as Amanda shared her motivation to serve both audiences and strong stance that merging them just wouldn’t work, I came around.

The result kinda sorta blew my mind because the two of us were actually able to find a simple way for Amanda to attract, nurture, and convert both dream clients without a ton of extra work on her part and without confusing folks.

If, like Amanda, you serve two very distinct audiences in two very different ways, this episode will be a game changer for you.

I hope you enjoy it.

TIMESTAMPS

00:03:10  Amanda shares her two different offers designed to serve two different audiences.

00:15:10  The two discuss why it’s essential that every piece of content used applies to both audiences.

00:18:35  Dallas talks about how the framework with Content Confidence can be applied to Amanda’s two audiences.

30 Oct 2022137. Own The Power of Your Work00:52:59

What do you say when someone asks you what you do?

A lot of coaches over explain.

Or they speak in Coachy language instead of real world language.

Or even undersell the value their work has on the world.

I know I’m guilty of that last one.

And so was today’s guest, Brandon Wilcox who has spent most of his life developing a deep and meaningful spiritual practice.  And today, Brandon helps his clients truly transform their lives by sharing the tools he’s cultivated over the years.

Brandon’s work is the real deal… yet the way he talked about the work… well… it was kinda bland and even a bit confusing.

So that’s the first thing he and I got to during today’s sessions.

During the episode Brandon and I:

1. nailed down accurate and clear language to explain who he helps and how

2. dug into his offers to ensure that they’ll attract aligned clients

3. even brainstormed content Brandon can share that truly represents all he’s capable of without confusing folks

This is a jam packed episode, so if you worry - even a little bit - that people don't quite get what it is you do, you simply must tune in.

Enjoy!

If you ever worry that your business can’t handle all your creative ideas, you’re going to love today’s episode. Iva Perez, my guest this week, is a newer coach with what she thought were two totally separate businesses she wanted to get off the ground. After Iva and I dug into her mission and her target audience, we realized that she doesn’t actually have two businesses on her hands. She has two offerings. So, I teach Iva about The Offerings Bullseye and she gets crystal clear about how her two offerings not only support each other, but ultimately support her audience. Which is great news because Iva is on a mission to help moms heal themselves and help families build stronger connections. This important work needs a voice like Iva’s and after our conversation she was off and running. 04 Oct 2022131. Center The Client Not Yourself00:22:28

We are dropping into your podcast feed all week long with quick bonus episodes designed to reveal themes and lessons that I have observed this year inside of The Hive.

Yesterday, we talked about the importance of solving the right problems.

Today we will talk about what is probably my number one lesson of the whole year.

Which is why— as values-driven coaches — we have to center the client instead of ourselves.

I first started talking about this in relation to sales calls…

If you're nervous when you're selling…or you're worried about if they even like you…or if they trust your expertise… or if you're going to annoy them by following up…

That is completely self-centered.

When you center the client it instead becomes “I'm speaking to someone who has a goal they want to accomplish. Am I the person to help them accomplish that goal?”

When we center them, of course we want to invite them to become a client.

Of course, we want to listen to their dreams and goals rather than thinking about overcoming their objections.

This is a massive mindset shift. And for values driven coaches — it's a lifesaver now.

An obvious place to center the client instead of yourself is in sales calls.

But this rule applies pretty much everywhere in your business and I'm going to give you several examples throughout this episode.

So with that, let’s dive in!

TIMESTAMPS:

00:3:00 - Dallas introduces the mindset shift of “centering the client”

00:05:00 - Examples of centering the client rather than centering yourself

00:12:00 - How to make the shift to center your clients

00:16:00 - Dallas shares how this approach makes decisions really clear (maybe not convenient, but clear)

00:19:00 - The “Stop, Drop, Dig, and Roll” practice

21:00 - How to tell if you’re centering yourself or the client

21 May 2023166. A Simple Plan to Nurture Your Referral Network00:49:53

If you’d like to formalize a referral network for your coaching business and want a simple and community-focused plan, then episode 166 is for you.

My guest today is Stacey O’Bryan. She helps you take quick control of your legal issues and explore all options before hiring a lawyer.

Stacey is one of those people who you kinda hope you never need to hire, but boy are you grateful to have her in your corner when you do.

Which is part of the opportunity and the obstacle when it comes to client attraction because Stacey helps folks who are facing a legal conflict… which at some point will be 50% of us within the next 3 years, by the way…

Basically, in a way, everybody’s Stacey’s dream client… yet nobody is.

Which explains why nearly all of Stacey’s clients come to her through referrals.

So, Stacey wanted my help crafting a simple plan to nurture the people in her world and on her list so that when a potential legal problem does arise, she’s the first person we all think of.

In this episode, you will be able to:

1. Build unshakable trust and increased recognition with regular communication tactics.

2. View everyone as a possible client or referral, maximizing networking possibilities.

3. Utilize personalized elements in communications to cement deeper connections.

4. Reap the benefits of reciprocity by seeking ways to help others progress.

5. Construct a structured framework for garnering and fostering strong referrals.

Key Points We Cover:

Creating a Referral Network

Establishing a successful referral network is a goal for every legal coach, as it can lead to new clients and expanded business opportunities. The key ingredient is consistency – from the communication methods employed to the nurturing approach taken with potential referral sources. By focusing on insightful and value-laden content in nurturing experiences, a coach can create a network that actively generates referrals for their coaching business. During the conversation, Dallas emphasizes the importance of having a structured system for inviting and nurturing referrals, which is highly influential for any coaching business, no matter its niche.

Consistent Communication

Consistent communication is essential when it comes to nurturing referral partnerships. Developing a monthly content plan for communication is key. The focus should be on reinforcing one's legal expertise through value-added content, while also adding personal touches to create a memorable impression on recipients. Dallas encourages Stacey to adopt a structured approach, sending out weekly or monthly emails containing informative content and personal stories. By doing so, she can nurture relationships and trust with her network, not only increasing its reach but also its efficacy at providing new client opportunities for Stacey.

Everyone is a Potential Referral Partner

Embracing the mindset that everyone is a potential client and referral partner is crucial to maximizing a coaching business' referral network. This frame of mind ensures that the coach maintains an open perspective when it comes to seeking referrals, providing the opportunities to transform acquaintances into potential referral sources. During the podcast conversation, Dallas emphasizes the importance of this mindset when it comes to referrals because everyone that Stacey encounters is potentially a referral partner. Dallas emphasizes the pivotal role of referral partners in instilling confidence in potential clients by endorsing Stacey's legal expertise.

27 Mar 202297. Find the Right Words to Describe What You Do00:42:45

Over the next two episodes, we’re going to talk about what - inside the Hive - we call your Dream Client Power Statement (or DCPS).

A DCPS is the way you concisely describe the people you serve and results you help them achieve.

Over and over again, I see the difference a strong DCPS can have on every coach, no matter how long you've been in business. Which is interesting because for some of us, the DCPS isn’t something we ever say verbatim. Yet, it’s this anchor that bolsters our confidence and our message.

So, my guest today is Laurie Shiers whose business has been evolving and it’s time to find the words to keep up with this evolution.

Laurie and I get really clear on the two offerings she’ll provide both of which offer the same outcome. From there…  we get kinda sorta pretty close to a rock solid DCPS for her.

But we don’t quite nail it.

Here’s what’s fun…  about 24 hours after our recording session, Laurie sent me the most amazing email with a perfected and totally inspiring DCPS inside.

Let me share it with you and then we’ll dig into the episode so you can follow along and clarify your own DCPS just like Laurie did.

Okay, so Laurie Shiers helps people do the things they’ve been dreaming about. If you’re afraid you might die with your gifts still hidden inside, I’ll help you get your ideas out of your head and into the world—and do it with joy, passion and purpose.

Pretty great, right?

And with that, let’s dive into the episode

14 Jan 2024196. A Flawless Approach To Welcome New Clients00:38:16

If you've ever had that oh-no moment when a client says YES and you realize you don't have an easy way to collect payments, you're not even sure if you should do that before a contract gets signed and speaking of contracts, you don't even have one in place…

This episode is for you. It first aired way back in 2021 but as we move into a new year, I want you to be fully prepared to welcome in new clients.

Which means you need a rock solid way to onboard them.

In this episode I am spilling the beans about all things onboarding as I take Nzinga Moore through the exact workflow I follow whenever I sign a new client.

I had so much fun walking Nzinga through how to:

  • Set up automatic monthly billing
  • Send a contract after you collect payments
  • Get that first session on the books so your new client doesn't back out
  • Avoid overwhelming your client with too much prep work
  • Easily track your clients progress without wasting hours writing recap notes

If your new client onboarding process isn't smooth like butter, grab a pen and paper because this episode is right up your alley.

And if you like what you hear and you want to get your hands on all the templates we discuss, you can get on the waitlist at NewClientNowWhat.com

In this episode, you'll learn to:

  • Optimize your client onboarding process for a personalized and efficient experience.
  • Create a seamless client experience that fosters strong connections and trust.
  • Streamline your client management processes to save time and enhance productivity.
  • Master efficient contract handling and electronic signatures for smoother transactions.

“I want them to feel seen and heard, like they have a teammate.” - Nzinga Moore

Key Takeaways

Optimizing the client onboarding process is fundamental to start relationships right with your clients. This initial stage sets the tone for the entire coaching journey, making it crucial to ensure smoothness and efficiency.

By implementing sound onboarding strategies, coaches not only streamline administrative tasks but also contribute to building clients' confidence and trust in the program from the outset.

The resources mentioned in this episode are:

  • To join the six figure coach club and access mentorship and training, watch the coach class at watchthecoachclass.com.
  • To get on the waitlist for the New Client Now What program, go to NewClientNowWhat.com and you'll be notified for upcoming enrollment.

24 Jul 2022119. The Most Important Question to Ask in Your Marketing00:43:08

Here’s a question for you.

What’s the point?

The online space offers up countless strategies you could implement in your coaching business to bring in more clients.

But what’s the point?

This is a crucial question you must ask yourself before you take on any marketing strategy.

If you don’t, you could end up being really busy… doing a lot of work.. And even generating results.

But those results may not bring you any closer to your big goal if you don’t connect the dots directly between your marketing plan and your business goals.

So… what’s the point?

That’s the question I asked today’s guest, Susanne Dunlap, who’s a novelist and a book coach. Susanne helps writers dig down to find the heart and soul of the story buried in their research, and craft it into a manuscript that will keep readers turning the pages.

So, Susanne came into the conversation with two big goals.  Her latest book will be released in August and she wants to use that big event to accomplish two things:

1. Sell books and get more traction for her writing.

2. Attract book coaching clients - who wouldn’t want to work with a book coach who’s actually published several books, right?

But these two goals created confusion and overwhelm for Susanne because she just wanted to do all the things… right away… at the same time.

Can you relate?

But when Susanne answered the question — “What’s the point?” — things became very clear, very quickly and we came up with a super exciting, goal aligned marketing plan for her.

I can't wait for you to find out what we came up with, so let’s get down to it, shall we?

Here’s Susanne Dunlap!

My guest today is Cindy Harvey who has helped me make 2 very essential hires in my business over the last 12 or so months.

You know when you meet those people who immediately make you want to strategize a plan to become best friends? Cindy is one of those people for me.

Truthfully, immediately after she helped me hire our Project Lead, Julie, I said to my team… I can’t wait to hire somebody else just so I can work with Cindy again.

And Cindy is here today to help you avoid some of the most common hiring mistakes coaches make. Now, before you decide this episode doesn’t apply to you because your business isn’t quite big enough to have a team… think again.

Whether you need to hire your very first VA or like me, you’ve got a few full-time employees, you will learn essential lessons that will set you, the contractors or employees you hire AND your business up for long term success.

A bit more about Cindy before we dive in… She’s a hiring expert, leadership coach, and founder of Amelia Dee, a company that helps online coaches find, assess, and hire the right talent for their growing teams.

After spending 15 years making the hiring process fair and easy for hundreds of leaders, Cindy has seen it all. Now she helps online coaches make sound hiring decisions so they can step into their leadership potential with team members who are connected to their mission.

Cindy is a Certified Human Resources Leader and an active member of the Human Resources Professionals Association.  And I am so excited to introduce her to you… so let’s get going!

25 Feb 2024202. Do Referral Requests Feel Awkward?00:41:20

I think most of us can agree that some of the best clients come through referrals. They often show up ready to hire you because they trust the person who recommended them to you in the first place, right? Referral marketing is one of the three paths I teach inside my course, Client Surge for this very reason. But what if you're a coach who does deep transformational, trauma informed work that's a little touchy for folks to talk about? If you're a LinkedIn coach who helps business owners find quality leads...asking for referrals is extremely straightforward. But if you're a health coach, how are you supposed to ask people to refer their friends without insulting them? This was the conundrum today's guest and I will tackle inside the episode.

Marielle Fois helps women stop negative self-talk so they can increase their self-confidence and show up with authenticity at work and in their relationships. She'll also be the first to tell you that she's on the introverted side and she doesn't feel like she has a big network.

So the two of us had to put our heads together to figure out how we could tweak the Client Surge system to match her comfort level while making it as simple as possible for folks to send her referrals. And by the end of our conversation we were both very excited about the plan, which still leverages referral marketing, but instead of asking folks to send referrals into a 1:1 sales call, Marielle will ask them to recommend a free intro workshop instead.

If you're a coach who feels like it's awkward for folks to refer their friends, Marielle's plan could be the solution to your referral getting problem.

Before I hand Marielle the mic, I want to just say that the kind of creative resourcefulness you'll hear me tap into throughout the episode is the same kind of support you'll get from me inside Client Surge. Enrollment closes on February 29th, so please visit joinclientsurge.com now to see if joining Client Surge feels right for you. And now... here's Marielle Fois.

Key Takeaways:

Today’s guest is someone you may already know because this is her third time on the podcast.

Tilita Lutterloh helps purpose driven high achievers get stronger and eat better so they can do more and do it better. She very graciously agreed to let us follow her business growth for a full  year.

So, now that our year is up, Tilita and I wanted to share the biggest lessons she learned over the past 12 months and, more importantly, the actions she’ll take and adjustments she’ll make because of them.

And let me just say straight out of the gate — if list building has been on your to do list at all, you’ve gotta tune in, because Tilita learned a valuable lesson about why list building matters in her online coaching business.

17 Jul 2022118. Your Small Group Coaching Roadmap00:52:40

Today’s episode was so much fun to record and I cannot wait for you to dive in!

My guest is Stephanie Dethlefs. She helps writers who have a story on their heart find clarity and accountability so they can finally write their novels.

Stephanie is ready to introduce power groups to her community. And, well, I love designing power groups! That’s one reason this episode was so much fun for me!

So, what are power groups exactly? That’s the term we use inside the Hive for small group coaching.

And Stephanie wants to offer power groups for 2 reasons:

1. There are some people in her world who really want to work with her, but private coaching is just outside of their budget. So, a power group provides more accessible pricing.

2. There are also some folks in Stephanie’s world who might benefit MORE from a group experience than private coaching.

Together, Stephanie and I dig into the nuts and bolts of how to structure her power groups so she can get the first one filled before the fall.

If you’re thinking about layering in a group offering so you can begin to scale, make sure you’re prepared to take some notes because this episode is jam packed with goodness.

Let’s get going…

FREE CLASS: The Coach Class — https://watchthecoachclass.com/

24 Oct 202166. Greatest Hits: Build Your Team00:08:05
Today I am sharing the third and final part of our Greatest Hits series. In this episode, we are focusing on Building Your Team. A common trap I see a lot of coaches fall into is waiting way too long to hire. We look at the price tag and think “I can’t afford that”. Instead of asking the question...“How much is possible by adding this person to my team?” So, whether your business is newer or you’ve been at this for a while, I want you to check out these four episodes to inspire you to hire, but also lead a team, well.  First up, Episode 13 with Sarah Gaboury. I think we all know the feeling of overwhelm that can come when we work by ourselves...all the time...on our laptops. Sarah came into this episode feeling too busy to even think about the hiring process, let alone who to hire and how to onboard a new team member. But during our conversation we were able to come up with a simple process to help her get crystal clear on what she can hand off AND determine the qualities needed in an awesome virtual assistant.  Next is a two parter - Episode 14 + 15 with Malika Williams. In Episode 14, Malika and I talked through the vision for what’s next in her business (and realized she was even closer than she realized to that vision). Once we got clear on the vision, drilled down some next steps, we talked about “how to hire”. That’s what you’ll hear in Episode 15. We talk through the phases we all go through in our business.. Expansion and Containment. Listen to this episode if you’re ready to give your permission to hire quickly and want to know the best position to fill first. Last but certainly not least, I have Episode 37 with Tianna Tye. She is an expert in all things team dynamics. She is basically a genius on delegation. Which for those of us who have worked by ourselves (forever) delegation can be so tricky. So, in our conversation we talk all about the right way to onboard your team, and the importance of setting clear expectations and Key Performance Indicators. If you want to hire now or anytime in the future, you MUST listen to this episode. If you’ve been putting off hiring because you feel too busy or overwhelmed by the thought of starting the hiring process, I sincerely hope that these episodes inspire you to take the leap. I can’t wait to hear all that you glean from these episodes.  EP013 Sarah Gaboury (TOO BUSY TO HIRE HELP? Today’s episode is going to tackle something we’ve all experienced…

Self Doubt.

Listen, I’ve been in business for 20 years now and I still have moments of self-doubt.  Luckily, they don’t happen very often and they don’t last for long.

But what about when your business is newer? Or what about if you’ve been at this coaching thing for a while and you feel like you should be further along than you are?

“I’ve worked so hard and I just don’t seem to be getting anywhere.”

That’s how today’s guest felt coming into our conversation. Her name is Naomi Geidel and she helps creative people take inspired action toward their dreams.

I’m so grateful for the conversation Naomi and I shared because she bravely talked about the self doubt and stuckness we’ve all been through.

And because she was so brave, we were able to craft a plan to help her not only get unstuck but to use her natural strengths to move forward faster in her business.

Now, Naomi asked for a plan to get unstuck which is exactly what we created and it had three phases.

1. Clear the decks by forgiving any judgments she has about past mis-steps.
2. Identify the natural strengths she already possesses to apply in the areas she struggles with inside her business.
3. Use a different approach to the traditional gratitude exercise, all of us coaches have heard of, to collect evidence of her progress and authentically boost her confidence.

If you ever worry that you should be further along or you wonder if you have what it takes to make this coaching thing really work… today’s episode is precisely what the doctor ordered.  I hope you enjoy it!

At the time of our interview, Katy was ready to scale her business but she struggled to be visible consistently.  So, what you’ll hear today is a deep conversation where Katy and I uncover the origin of her fear.  From there, we explore how she can be with that fear instead of assuming that the only way to overcome it is by taking on a false, positive mental attitude.

Now, this conversation happened nearly two years ago and can I just say that our friend Katy no longer struggles to be visible. In fact, I see her IG lives and reels in my feed consistently.

And her business growth has matched her visibility for sure.  Since we originally aired this episode, Katy launched her yearlong mentorship program for creatives and her business has not only passed the six figure mark in revenue… it’s hit six figures in profit.

If you're a coach and you can relate to Katy's struggles with fear of visibility, then this episode is definitely for you.

In this episode, we'll discuss how to:

1. Conquer the fears that hold you back from showcasing your business.

2. Heal past wounds to unlock your full potential for personal growth.

3. Build a strong relationship with your inner child to expand your business horizons.

4. Embrace playfulness and creativity to thrive in today's competitive market.

5. Perform meaningful acts that bring about closure and growth during emotional healing processes.

Key Points We Cover:

Business Growth and Personal Growth

The relationship between personal growth and business growth is profound and interconnected. Entrepreneurs' personal development directly impacts their ability to successfully grow and manage their businesses. As entrepreneurs evolve and address their limiting beliefs, they can unlock their full potential and create more opportunities for success in their professional lives. Katy’s path to increased visibility exemplifies the relationship between personal and business growth. Through self-awareness, healing past traumas, and commitment to personal growth, entrepreneurs like Katy can move past their limitations and achieve success in their businesses.

Being Visible

In the world of entrepreneurship, being visible is a vital aspect of success. By putting oneself out there, entrepreneurs are more likely to attract and reach their target audience, building trust and rapport with potential clients. Visibility is essential in creating brand awareness, marketing products and services, and remaining competitive in the industry. Furthermore, being visible online through various platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and other social media platforms has become a significant part of businesses' digital strategies, especially for entrepreneurs seeking to grow their brand and connect with potential clients. In this podcast, Katy and Dallas discuss her struggles with visibility and the challenges she has faced in putting herself out there for her money coaching business. She identifies her childhood experiences, notably a critical kindergarten teacher who stifled her creativity, as the root cause of her fear of being visible. Despite her apprehensions, she is determined to overcome her fears and be more present online through social media channels.

05 Jun 2022111. Design a Valuable Lead Magnet That Stands Out00:52:53

My guest today is Aissa Thalia. She came into the episode knowing that she needs to update her lead magnet to match her target audience.

Aissa is a happiness expert who helps actors that haven’t booked work in a while feel great, happy and confident regardless of their booking status.

And she didn’t want just any lead magnet.

She wanted something that stands out and feels like, what I call, experiential marketing. That's the kind of marketing that gives folks a true and accurate taste of what it’s like to work with you.

So, some sort of pdf download wasn’t going to cut it.

After some brainstorming and troubleshooting, Aissa and I came up with a fantastic lead magnet idea that checks all the boxes:

1. It has a clear promise

2. It’s easy to implement

3. It’s unique to Aissa

4. And… it relies on experiential marketing

I’m not going to tell you what it is… you’ll have to listen in to find out.

And before you dive in, be sure to have a notebook handy because you’ll want to walk yourself through the same process Aissa and I follow so you can check all the boxes on your lead magnet too.

And with that… let’s dive in.
