For Elizabeth Cyprian the answer is simple: the success of a brand is dependent upon each department correlating while it creates, nurtures and maintains a distinctive identity. Is going to events an essential part of your role in the music industry? How do you balance your professional and social life when a lot of our jobs consist of going to clubs and festivals? As a PR, how much time do you need to spend with your artists? 

Emma Chambers is the Founder of Acrylic Artists, a global PR company based in the UK that specialises in the promotion of electronic music for artists, labels, clubs and events via online and print media. She worked in the city of London as an Executive and Personal Assistant for private clients and companies, for 8 years before changing her career path after travelling abroad and becoming integrated within the music world, following a passion for underground dance music since her early 20’s.

Formerly known as So Dark Its Light in the early days, she re-branded the company 4 years ago to Acrylic Artists, and she has been working in music PR now for 8 years. The agency has seen a steady growth in its client list, always sourced by word of mouth through client recommendations and today has worked with names including EXHALE, Anfisa Letyago, Farrago, Fatboy Slim, Eats Everything, Dubfire, Loveland Festival, Pan-Pot, Anja Schneider, wAFF and a whole lot more.

In this podcast we talk all about the importance of being at events to stay relevant, the most difficult part of PR, pitching to media outlets, having a story to tell as an artist, networking, Emma's love affair with country and gherkins. After spending half of her life in California, Farah’s career began in Los Angeles working for powerhouse talent agency, WME, where she spent over five years focusing on brand partnerships and commercial endorsements for the agency’s music roster which included working with artists such as Lady Gaga, Pharrell Williams, Taylor Swift, Britney Spears, Rihanna and many more. (Imagine working with names like these at one of your first jobs!) After agency life, Farah then went into artist management. Farah then moved to Berlin and started working with the world's largest electronic music platform for digital downloads, yes you got it, Beatport. Farah has a great overview of the company and has had roles within the Label Management and Marketing/Creative Services teams.  She now oversees PR for the company and is focusing on strategic external partnerships with conferences, philanthropic organizations, initiatives related to diversity and mental health, as well as updating the Beatport community on their news and products. In addition, based on her extensive history working with artists, Farah is involved on the artist side, giving input for the editorial on Beatportal, curating various streams and booking collectives from all over the globe to DJ on their Twitch channel. Spanning a 20 year career, Nick has been the driving force behind building a multitude of club nights and festivals, as well as discovering and pulling new talent through the ranks. After a successful few years as a promoter in Manchester, Nick moved to Ibiza in 2008, which is where his career properly took flight. After starting at the infamous Zoo Project during his first summer on the White Isle, he soon stapled himself as a promoter who turned heads with every party he put on. Fast forward to 2011, Nick began to work at DC10 and the year after in 2012 he started working with Paradise where he still works today as the worldwide booker. We're kicking off season 4 with one of the most respected and hard working women in the industry (as well as someone I've wanted to have on the podcast for such a long time!), Emma Hoser. Emma is a long-time agent and works with the biggest names in underground music such as Adam Beyer, Nicole Moudaber, Alan Fitzpatrick, Jamie Jones, Patrick Topping, Paco Osuna and Sasha - just to name a few! This week's episode is with a well-known figure in the music industry and Ibiza’s clubbing scene, Eóin Smyth. Arriving in Ibiza from Dublin at the age of 20, Eoin’s first job on the island was with Dance Trippin TV and later went on to work with the Carl Cox team at Space where he eventually became head of marketing and operations and really learnt the ins and outs of Ibiza's clubbing scene.   After the end of Carl Cox at Space in 2016 he launched Game Over with business partner Dave Browning. Jo used to live the high life in the non-stop, fast-paced world of event and music festival production. She worked hard and played harder for long days and longer nights until in a heartbeat her world turned upside down as the aneurysm she had unknowingly harbored in the center of her brain ruptured, putting her deep into a coma where she fought to stay alive for 6 weeks. Learning to walk, talk and swallow was just the start but the hardest battle was working to regain her cognitive function.     She problem-solved her health as she would have in event production and it was through being in touch with her creativity that she became most alive. John Acquaviva... Where to begin?! John is such an amazing person, down to earth, hard-working and great to be around. I’ve known John for quite a few years now and each year I interview him and always learn something new!     If you haven’t heard directly of John Acquaviva’s works, the chances are - whatever your involvement with electronic music is - that you will be aware of his work and influence within the electronic music community. The Italian-Canadian artist is also known for his involvement with techno titan Richie Hawtin and the forming of the highly influential labels Plus 8 Recordings and Definitive records and his fruitful involvement with Final Scratch and especially Beatport, being a vital founder of both companies.   He is a pioneer of electronic music’s technological evolution and helped sculpt the genre’s game-changing transition from analog to digital and from vinyl to turntables and laptops. In sharing this vision with Richie Hawtin, they spearheaded a project that would act as the iTunes of dance, which paved the path for a new and zestful era.   I had so much fun recording this episode with John! He had so many great stories to tell as we spoke about his journey right from the beginning up until now… I absolutely love this episode and I’m sure you will too!

Julius Jooste is a South African born photographer, best known for his work in the entertainment and night-life scene in Ibiza, Spain.   It was at AFDA (The South African School of Motion Picture Medium and Live Performance) that he discovered how to bring his passions for art and technology together in innovative and creative ways. He excelled as a production student and took great care in developing his leadership and management abilities.    In his final year of university, he was headhunted by Africa’s top live-TV and Sports production company to assist in their preparation of the FIFA World Cup South Africa 2010, the opening ceremony at Orlando Stadium reaching a mammoth 3 billion live viewers from across the globe.   In 2013, Julius left for Ibiza in search of balance and spirituality. Today’s guest is Kim Booth. We had such a lovely chat after one of Kim’s fab yoga classes that she offers at Pikes Ibiza, which is actually also where we recorded this podcast, exciting! Kim has been working in Ibiza for 18 years, working in Public Relations for nights at Pacha, Space, Amnesia and DC10. She opened a PR company, called Rebel Butterfly, in 2005 and has worked with some of the world’s most respected DJs and electronic music producers, as well as festivals and events globally. In 2017, after over ten years of cosmic studies, Rebel Butterfly transformed into her Yoga and sound healing work.    Kim is now a certified Yoga teacher and also works with different shamanic and healing modalities. In 2015 she began Cosmic Pineapple with the desire to connect people to the conscious wisdom she and others have learned along the way. Ending season 5 of the podcast is a guest that I have wanted to get on the show for such a long time, and we finally made it happen! Olivier started his career in marketing, working in senior roles at global consumer brands including, O2, Vueling and Lucky Strike. Welcome to this International women’s day special in which I highlight and celebrate some of the wonderful things women in music have worked on or taken part in this year, with two of my favourite girls - Lydia Laws, founder of Lydia Lwas PR and Roberta Hickey, founder of the women in dance music platform, Little Pink Book. Besides talking about personal projects and experiences as women in music, we also talk about some of the other initiatives and communities and women that are constantly inspiring us.

Becoming an international artist was his biggest dream as a kid. From a small town in Italy called Luca, Marco Faraone has now played all over the world and released on some of the biggest dance music labels out there. We chat all about his career from the beginning up until now, his new chapter as a father, his latest collaboration with Stella Bossi that has gained over 9 million views on social media and the importance of doing what makes you happy in life. 

We're kicking off the year with a chat with one of the nicest guys in the game, Rossi. And what a pleasure it was to sit down with him and look back on his incredibly successful 2023, whilst getting to know more about his journey so far.

From being an actor, starring in London's Westend shows such as Mary Poppins (playing Michael Banks btw!) at the age of 8 to now playing some of the biggest festivals and clubs in the world, Ross' story is one of hard work, dedication and a lot of passion for what he does.

ADE (my favourite event of the year) has grown into the world’s largest and most influential club-based festival and conference for electronic music, featuring over 2,900 artists taking part in over 1000 events across 200+ venues throughout the city, welcoming around half a million visitors to the city. 

With only a few days left until the 28th edition, I had a quick chat with ADE directors Meindert Kennis and Jan-Willem Van de Ven about this year's hot topics, how the conference has grown since it began in 1996, their personal favourite parts of the conference, tips if it's your first time at ADE and of course... the weather over the next few days in the Dutch capital!
