Sam White – one of the UK’s leading female entrepreneurs who started a company at the age of 24 from her sister’s conservatory, building it up to a £20m+ turnover business and 170 staff. Now 46, Sam is the founder of Freedom Services Group – an ever-expanding insurance business in the UK and Australia and umbrella brand for a number of different insurance businesses Sam owns.   

Sam was recently featured on the FTThe New Statesman,  Manchester Evening NewsMy London with another story to come out in Times soon. She would make a great radio guest as she hosts her own podcast “Human Business with Sam White” and has also regularly been on BBC’s Wake Up To Money and Sky Business Live with Ian King to discuss the business affairs of the day.

She started her first company in 1999, just a year after her mother who battled with alcohol addiction tragically died of an overdose. By 2010 the company was doing so well that Sam decided to move to Beverly Hills and rented a house just a few doors down from the likes of Charlie Sheen, Tom Jones, Paris Hilton and Robbie Williams – who sang at her wedding to her former partner. 

Sam, who is extremely straight talking and down to earth, says: “I sometimes describe those years as my arsehole years [laughs]. The business was going great and I felt like doing something different so I rented a 9000 square foot house on Mulholland Estates and bought myself a Porsche 911 turbo convertible. I’m a Stockport girl and I did genuinely think ‘girl you’ve f**king made it!’” 

Sadly, the dream ended abruptly when in 2012 a change to regulation meant she lost 60% of her business in four weeks. Sam decided to come back to the UK and rebuild the business… which hit £23m turnover before Covid. 

In addition to being a hugely successful entrepreneur, Sam is a mum of two and is soon to be married to Jennie, her partner. She cares passionately about diversity and inclusion – which is at the heart of her business and believes much more needs to be done to champion female founders as well as female leaders within her industry. 

In this episode, Adam Stott talks with Sam White about how she built a huge business in the insurance industry. Sam tells us how her independent nature fueled the fire of entrepreneurship at a young age. Listen to this episode and certainly you will learn more!

Lee McQueen is currently the CEO of Raw Talent Academy and the Founder and CEO of Phoenix 51, a software company that provides detailed analytics to help companies make data-driven decisions to hire, benchmark, train, and retain people. Lee is also a winner of the hit reality show The Apprentice, where he works for Lord Sugar.

Tim Campbell MBE’s career wasn’t as explosive before appearing in The Apprentice’s first season. However, what’s impressive is that his passion to help people was already there even before, working with the London Underground. His passion brought him into working with PM Boris Johnson, then Mayor of the City of London, in helping small businesses stand up on their own after The Apprentice. Tim was able to take advantage of his stint on the Apprentice where he grew his Portfolio of businesses. In this episode, Tim Campbell talks with Adam Stott about the importance of helping small businesses and winning the first Apprentice title.

Tim became the first-ever winner of The Apprentice when it launched in 2005. He landed a £100,000-a-year job with Lord Sugar’s firm Amstrad and left after two years to found Bright Ideas Trust, a charity that helps young people to set up their own businesses.

Tim received an MBE for Services to Enterprise and Culture in 2012.
