When Spanner was introduced to me, I honestly didn't expect to hear about all these other stories about how much she has achieved by helping those who needed help the most. I was enthralled to hear her speak about the change from Hospitality to getting her hands dirty, working on motorcycles, but also falling into owning her own motorcycle workshop that helps many men and women continue, or consider riding a bike after minor or severe injury or loss of limb. Spanner makes it possible for all of us to enjoy riding motorcycles when you might think it is otherwise impossible.

When I first watched Matthew's channel, I initially related to his ride. The ZZR600. I've ridden many, I've pre-delivered many from the Kawasaki dealers I've worked in. But then I started to listen to what he says in his videos. Deep thoughts on mental health, on riding, the feeling we get from riding, and also creating great videos covering songs we all know and love with his entourage of extremely talented musicians. Chewie is a professional artist himself, sharing some experiences about the good and bad sides of the industry.
However, having said all that. The episodes that really got me where the lockdown big walks with little kids he did. Going for a walk around his neighbourhood, chatting candidly with his own children. Getting in some fresh air, physical activity, and illustrating the importance of truly having a conversation with your kids. True Dad of the Year material!!!

S01 E03 - What You Ride, Why You Ride It. Hungry Jacks Burgers, Any Good? John Boston Beer, Never Heard Of It.

So with Lockdown well and truly at the half way point, theoretically. There hasn't been too much going on. So I thought I would go back allll the way to episode 01. LOL. And talk about the bikes I've owned, why I ride them, and the bikes I own now.
We all started on something small, likely getting laughs when spoken about. However you can't deny that when you finally see one of your first bikes out in the wild, you can't help but fall in love with it again. It was the bike where it all began. So I can't ever hate this bike. None of us can ever hate our first bike. I'm talking about my Kawasaki GPX250.
What else have I ridden? Well, you're gonna have to subscribe and listen to the show to find out.
We cover the new (well, it's a few years old now) Hungry Jacks - Burger King for those of you overseas, Rebel Whopper. Rebel what? Well, I am vegan. I'm not here to talk about the virtues. I'm not here to convert you. I like what I like. And I do like burgers. Being vegan made it tough to enjoy burgers. The most we use to be able to find was truck stop frozen veggie patties that often looked like compressed potato cake with peas and corn. Delicious? No. But it was food. And sometimes that's what you need to keep going. Enter the Rebel Whopper! Yay for me! So what do I think about it? To be honest, it's freaking amazing, and a friend who recently took a bite of it to fulfil his curiosity said he couldn't tell the difference between his whopper and mine.
I recently went away, and took some beers with me. Never heard of these guys. They were in the bargain bin at $11 for a sixpack. YES! Only thing better than cheap beer is free beer. This came close, and the good news is, it was delicious and refreshing. Everything I look for in a nice summer beer. Have a listen and I'll share what I thought about it.

Lance started his adventures with his father. However, that was cut short due to his fathers ill health. However, that didn't stop Lance from carrying on the adventures both he and his father planned. In this episode Lance shares his stories of adventure and lessons learning as he goes, one kilometre at a time out in the middle of Australia. Whether its crossing the Simpson Desert solo and unassisted, or riding the circumference of NSW during COVID lockdowns, Lance is a strong willed, fit and healthy man who doesn't let his lack of experience stop him. I'm a firm believer in supporting local business. When we experienced our recent bush fires over 2019-2020 a tremendous amount of Australia was affected. Some more than others. My friends, and a lot of my local businesses were gone. While I had great hopes in helping our community locally with a benefit ride, it was soon thwarted by floods, and shortly after it was Covid-19. And we all know how that turned out. So I was really keen to chat to Paul from The Harley Roadshow about his channel where he creates videos of rides to many off the beaten track destinations with his wife on the back of the bike.
Paul is a personal hero. He started doing what I wanted to do here for my community before natural disasters struck, followed by a world wide pandemic. However, now that we are stretching out into warmer months with Australia opening up, not only am I looking forward to working again, I look towards Paul's Youtube channel for inspiration.
