30 Aug 2024 | Ep. 5 - Sean Paul’s Manager, Steve Urchin, Promotes Education, Creativity and Purpose | 00:44:24
Steve Wilson, also known as Mystic Steve or just plain Steve Urchin is a husband, father, music executive, author, mentor, philanthropist, and artist manager to Jamaican reggae star Sean Paul. In the industry for 30 years, Steve shared his early life as a student and how struggling in the traditional educational system (in a family of educators) he found his passion, creativity, and purpose. He shares the concept of learning to color outside the lines by first coloring inside the lines, a lesson in discipline and learning the rules. Passion for entertainment was always there from his youth as the ‘record repository’ for his friends, finding other pathways to music. In college, Steve studied communication and television and learned how to process projects by taking an idea to a project, then from a project to a career, which has taken him and Sean Paul to appearances on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, The Today Show, Good Morning America, Saturday Night Live (SNL), Jimmy Kimmel, and more. Steve and the Sean Paul Foundation give back to those who need a hand-up. One example, the FFTP Jamaica Youth Band Camp, offered young people a way out of poverty mental, materially, and societally. There have been other projects the Sean Paul Foundation has been involved with like helping farmers, building houses for the poor with Serena Williams and being a source of help for communities during COVID. As a result, serving others and giving has become a lifestyle of generosity. Tune in for episode 5, now available! Beyond The Plate is a podcast by international charity, Food For The Poor
