How important is it for creatives to support one another, and what impact can such a platform have on emerging talent?

Today, we're diving deep into an incredible creative journey with our guest Ken, also affectionately known as "Mr. Gentleman." Ken's story is a melody of highs and lows, dreams, and the stubborn grit that keeps a creative soul pushing through. From having his tune "Teddy Overload" played on Power 105 yet never hearing it himself, to conquering the world of club promotion with his friends - Ken's tale is one of persistence and heart. And he's sharing his experience of the unique challenge of being an up-and-coming artist in a world that's always craving fresh faces. Speaking of fresh, Ken also gets personal, touching on his admiration for his parents' long-standing bond and his hope to have love just as strong one day. He'll even delve into the challenges he faced in 2021, the legacy of family holiday traditions, and how, despite self-doubt and a competitive world of podcasting and music, he’s stayed true to himself, striving for podcast gold.  And don't miss out as Ken walks us through his identity journey, finding his voice despite a speech impediment, and the joy of providing a platform for others through his own show. All that under the shade of a family tree stretching from Barbados to the southern US. So buckle up, as we span tales of identity, ambition, and the quest for that coveted wisdom rating. It's time to find out what's in a name, to see if hard times truly don't last, but tough people do, and why we're all looking for our voice in this noisy world. Get ready to call in your fondest family memories and join Ken and us in a conversation that's sure to resonate with anyone chasing big dreams.  Let's answer the call together. This is the Better Call Daddy Show. It's time to connect, it's time to reflect, and it’s time to see if we can answer the call of today’s guest, Ken AKA Mr. Gentleman.

18 Nov 202053. Geeg and Ahab Bucket List Adventures. Geeg Wiles00:33:51

Geeg Wiles is the voice, caretaker and keeper of chronicles for Ahab’s Adventures.

An average year for Geeg and his partner consists of such undertakings as jumping out of planes, rafting gnarly white water rapids, swimming at Black Canyon National Park, taking in the historic buildings of Stockholm, exploring the falls of the Upper Peninsula, hitchhiking through Patagonia, volunteering at the Virgin Islands Environmental Resource Station, and being 1.5 out of 5 people to smell the Iowa State Fair’s Butter Cow. All of this on-the-ground “work” contributes to a larger story, which has been in the care of Geeg’s family for over seven decades.

At the mention that Geeg has accomplished these feats with “his partner,” you may have assumed that relationship was of a romantic sort, but that’s not the case. His travel companion is Captain Ahab; a three-foot-tall, forty-pound, bright yellow, wooden fisherman/wannabe pirate captain. Together, they are on a mission to motivate others by showing that if Captain Ahab can conquer his bucket list, then anyone can blast through their excuses and COMMANDEER LIFE!!! The business innovation behind Ahab's Adventures challenges the status quo, as does the way Geeg and Captain Ahab approach every single activity, interaction and idea. Of course, a lawn gnome was never intended to live the life Captain Ahab leads, nor should he be allowed to get behind so much red tape to accomplish his goals, but this dynamic duo’s entrepreneurial, “anything's possible,” thinking opens doors that would otherwise remained closed. By having re-imagined the purpose behind something old, neglected and even ordinary, Geeg inspires others to find the extraordinary in their own lives and seize a refreshing outlook on what’s possible.

Outside his professional life, Geeg is a cross between a white water raft guide and a biology lab technician and instructor.

30 Aug 202014. I Fell in Love with Myself Through Daily Meditation: Deb Atella00:28:01

With all the worries we have—whether it's about our relationships, family, or financial distress—it is easy to slip into an abyss and feel unsatisfied with life. And as we get busy trying to solve these challenges, we tend to neglect our needs and fall deeper into self-loathing. But the truth is that the path to happiness starts with us. By changing how we perceive the situation and listening to our intuitions, we can all begin to learn how to love ourselves even in the hardest situations. Today's activity will discuss the power of meditation and intuitive listening in finding self-love and satisfaction in life. It will also discuss Deb's journey to mindfulness and how daily meditation and finding a community of like-minded people helped her find happiness. Hopefully, through this activity, you will start your awakening in life and cultivate a mindset that best serves you. QUOTE TO REMEMBER: “I fell in love with me and realized I can do things for myself. It's okay for me to make choices, to do things for myself. By taking care of myself, it made everybody in my house happier.” Do you also feel unsatisfied with your life right now? How so? How did daily meditation help Deb find happiness? Deb's daily meditation practice stemmed from her determination to build commitment and discipline. Did you also have moments in your life when you wanted to do something but didn't fully commit to it? If yes, why did you leave it unfinished? This time, think about the task you want to achieve before 2020 ends. Write down how you plan to accomplish this. Why did Deb think their business would not be a success?

What are the things that Deb had to sacrifice when she's running the family business? Can you relate to the challenges she had to face? In what ways?

How were you able to overcome those challenges? Or after what you’ve learned from Deb’s experiences, how are you planning to overcome these adversities?

What were the things that Deb realized after letting go of their business? After listening to Deb's near-death experience, why do you think listening to intuition is important?

For Deb, everybody's intuitive—it just comes down to being open and listening to it and looking for signs. Do you agree with her? Do you also think you have a deep intuitive sense? How so?

How do mindset and meditation help you tune into your intuition more?

What is the role of childhood experiences in cultivating a “money mindset?”

Do you think you're handling your finances responsibly these days? How so? In the podcast, Deb talked about finding a community of like-minded women, which finally made her feel like she belonged. Have you ever felt the same before? Were you able to find a community of which you can also be a part? Who were these people? What are the other positive effects of being part of a community?

How does finding and building connections with other people empower you and bring mindfulness to your life? How are you finding connections in this trying time of a global pandemic?

What You'll Learn from the Activity: The activity allows you to understand the role of listening to your intuition and meditation in finding satisfaction in life. Just like what Deb shared, her daily meditation practice enables her to find self-love and inspires her to make choices for herself. And Deb's transformation is not only limited to her experiences. By taking care of herself better, she made the people around her happy as well. One of the significant learnings to Deb's incredible journey is the importance of intuitive listening. According to Deb, all people are intuitive, but most do not open their minds and look for signs to understand the energy around them. Your intuition is the ultimate act of believing in yourself. When you listen to your gut, it can help you avoid getting into stressful situations.

09 Sep 2022260. Father’s Day Will Never Be The Same. Andrea Cargill01:13:54

All publicity is good publicity, it’s how you respond to it! How did Andrea Cargill get into the celebrity chef scene and start managing Chef Katsuji Tanabe a former guest on the Better Call Daddy Show?  Andrea says it’s important to do the work we care about, and that might have something to do with her military roots!  How can we do to get more involved in our communities?  What has Andrea learned from working in the media?  How can you navigate with tragedy happening in the background? We don’t go through things, we grow through things, even being a co-victim in a homocide!  Better Call Daddy: The Safe Space For Controversy.

21 Mar 2022215. Craig & Neshama Parks Party Central Daddy Daughter Duo00:38:54

I absolutely loved the message I received from today’s guest Craig Parks:

“First off I want to say thank you so much for the podcast you did with Oscar Stewart.  As a synagogue professional myself and in light of what happened in Texas this episode really resonated with me as we try to balance security with our Jewish value of hachnasat orchim, welcoming the stranger.   Your podcast is so diverse and as a professional musician, parent educator and entrepreneur it would be a treat to share music, stories, and ways for parents to create lifelong happy childhood memories with their kids.   I started a show with my then 5 year old daughter when the pandemic started filled with music, shtick, and interactive games on FB LIve.  We have done 64 episodes so far and I put a couple of them on YouTube if you want to check it out.  It is called Parks Party Central.  Being a camp director of Jewish day camps for 25 years and being a dad of two has taught me a ton that I am now ready to share with the world.   Fun songs, parenting advice that can help them increase joy and reduce stress, and leaving your audience with hope & inspiration would be great.”

I knew I had to have Craig and his daughter Neshama on after that message!

What kind of relationship do you want with your kids and your world?  When life doesn’t go as planned and it’s not working, then what?  Today we are talking and singing along with Craig Parks who’s been a camp director for 25 years and was afraid to be a girl dad!  He’s now a dad of 2, a husband, and a parent educator! Today you guys are in for a musical Daddy daughter duo treat!  Craig teaches parents to have fun with their children he says you need to open up and use your voice and intentionality!

24 Jan 2023292. Toxic Desi Culture - Aradhana KH01:00:27

Are you happy with where you’re at in life?  Are you comfortable in your own skin?  Did you feel pressured to get married or to marry within your faith?  Living up to others standards doesn’t work!  Aradhana is 32 years old, born and raised in Southern California.  She's a Clinical Social Worker by day and mental health/ lifestyle influencer by night. She struggles with Generalized Anxiety Disorder. She was raised in a strict South Asian household and because of that her anxiety was often disregarded as “being a cry baby or uninterested”. Her parents tried hard to mold her into the “Typical Indian Child”, however each time they did it would cause her Anxiety to worsen. It wasn’t until she got to college that she got any form of validation for her Anxiety. She started to take basic Psychology courses and learned about Anxiety and what it looked like. That was when she realized she struggled with a mental illness and that she wasn’t a “failure of an Indian”. She realized that a lot of her Anxiety came from the Desi Culture and the expectations that are placed on them.

She went on to become a Social Worker in the hopes of shedding light on Mental Health in the South Asian community. That was how Aradhana’s World came about, she created this platform where she talks about the “Toxic Desi Culture” that so many of us have been raised in. She will be starting a podcast called Di NOT Aunty where she sheds light on different toxic traits from the Desi Community. She's hoping by having a platform like this she will provide South Asian’s a place where they are validated and where they know that they are not “disobedient/bad Indians” where they can see that their differences are celebrated and welcomed.

She's a daddy’s girl. Her dad has been a huge advocate of her Anxiety and though he struggled with coping with her Anxiety at times he helped her empower herself and remind herself that though she's not the “perfect Indian child” she's someone who has proven at each adversity that she's worth fighting for.  Better Call Daddy: The Safe Space For Controversy.

27 Dec 2023344. Happy Ending With Jerry Springer, He Got One Too: Big Baby Zach Strenkert00:50:16

Featured on Today, Oprah, Jerry Springer, Inside Edition, Maury, Guinness World Records, and more today's guest is Big Baby Zach Strenkert.

Zach's life was one tinged with the sense of being an exhibition. From a young age, he felt the gaze of others upon him as he entered classrooms, his presence prompting teachers to invite him, often publicly, to share his experiences or insights as if he were a guest speaker rather than just another student.

This constant spotlight, rather than stirring pride, evoked for Zach a comparison to a circus act—a showcase not of his choosing, but of a role thrust upon him. Ironically, Zach eventually adopted this role, accepting the attention as part of his identity. The reactions of those around him shaped his earlier years, leaving him with a complex understanding of acceptance and the price that sometimes comes with it. Now, with a reflective tone, Zach acknowledges this unique upbringing with a candidness that perhaps masks the weight of the perpetual display he felt as a child.

Welcome back to another riveting episode of Better Call Daddy, the place where heart, enthusiasm, and transformative journeys merge into captivating tales of personal growth.

Today, we're diving into the remarkable story of our guest, Zach—a man who has transformed from an esports enthusiast to a fitness guru and who now contemplates a life filled with travel and service as a social worker.

Zach’s journey is a testament to the power of dedication and a no-excuses mindset, pushing through struggles with extreme thinking, impulse control issues, and chronic back pain. Despite facing these obstacles, Zach has sculpted his life with the weight of his own expectations, literally running with a weighted backpack to test his body’s strength. His life is a mosaic of various passions, from the adrenaline of gaming to the perseverance in fitness, and perhaps, a future chapter that captures the essence of travel and social work.

In this episode we explore the dichotomies of Zach’s life, from a severe health issue that once sidelined him to his inspiring weight loss journey, losing over 250 pounds, and the balance between pushing oneself and seeking well-being. Zach shares the richness of valuing experiences over material wealth and helping others as the bedrock of a fulfilled life. We'll unravel the threads of Zach's life, including his newfound passion for writing, his past obsessions with fame, and his heartfelt desire to be recognized for his authentic self, without labels or pretense. From heartfelt moments with media giants to encounters with celebs like Metallica, Zach's narrative is peppered with insights into overcoming fears, embracing life’s offerings, and upholding the values of equality and respect.

So tighten your seatbelts for this emotional, funny, and transformative ride with Zach as he opens up about his life, his lessons, and the fuel that keeps his fire burning. Prepare to be inspired as we delve into an episode that truly embodies what it means to 'Better Call Daddy.' Stay tuned!

12 Apr 2024364. Gen X Daddy Drama And A Whole Lot of Jive01:16:05

Have you ever wondered what it's like to walk a mile in someone else's shoes? To drum to the beat of a different life?

In this heart-to-heart episode of Better Call Daddy, John, affectionately known as Jive, and one of my favorite podcasters shares his unconventional life journey.  From the young age of 14, he found himself navigating the harsh realities of homelessness, which later fueled his passion for helping those on the streets. Despite the trials, John's spirit remains unbreakable as he shares his candid thoughts on marriage, parenting, and the pursuit of purpose over fleeting happiness.

As a father estranged from two of his sons, John reveals the complexities of family dynamics and the lingering impact of his own parents' divorce. His philosophy? Power over force, and attraction over pursuit. He believes in the transformative power of facing hostility head-on, embracing the chaos, and finding the rhythm in life's fickle beat.

John's reflections are a raw and real testament to the resilience of the human spirit. Join us as we explore the lessons learned from the school of hard knocks and the quest for authentic connection in a world that often turns a blind eye to its most vulnerable.

20 Jun 2021132. Meditation Is Medication For The Mind. Bill O’Herron00:48:31

Bill O’Herron is stepping into positive energy, sitting in gratitude, and practicing intentionality.  He’s coming up on 9000 hours of meditation and encourages you to try it as well. We are all interconnected!  He says focus on being soul rich!

He believes in continual learning and moving the needle.  Invest in experiences and choose to be of service if you want a shift!

Bill O’Herron is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who has been studying, teaching, and counseling for the last 16 years. His work is focused on helping clients better understand the challenges and work involved with being in a mature relationship.

Bill believes that working on yourself, which will automatically improve the dynamics of your relationship, is the most important thing in life. He writes, “What we do right now in our relationship echoes down through posterity, changes who our grandchildren’s children become.”

Bill has been married to his exceedingly patient wife Linda for 23 years. They have 3 amazing daughters and 2 dogs Smokey and Panda, who made an appearance on the show!

Bill’s career spans 30+ years in the financial field as a research sales and capital markets executive, having worked in New York, London, Stamford, CT and now Austin, TX. Back in 1997 while living in London, England, after having spent 11 years in the financial field, Bill took a work hiatus and enrolled in a language immersion program in Merida, Venezuela. His goal was to learn Spanish, and to continue studying and researching the customs, ethnology, and psychology of local communities

Using this experience of living and working with locals, Bill began developing a basic model for applying universal and holistic approaches to human development and self-awareness. It was simple; slow down and relax the rational, left part of the brain to gain access to the emotional, right side of the brain. The right, feeling-based limbic side of the body and mind hold all the answers to why we feel and behave the way we do!

Caroline Bass, founder of Queen Tulsi, developed this scientifically-backed herbal supplement to provide natural stress relief and mood balance. As a mom of three balancing a full-time job, Caroline struggled with anxiety, fatigue and feeling overwhelmed. She began formulating herbal blends to calm her nerves and soon shared them with friends and family, who loved the results and she realized she had something special on her hands.

College students, friends, and family members all started asking for her supplement after noticing how well it helped with everything from managing anxiety to unwinding after a long day. To make her remedy accessible, she partnered with herbal experts to create Queen Tulsi, a carefully crafted unique blend that targets emotional stress, brain fog, hormonal mood swings, and inflammation in the body. She has since sold thousands of bottles of Queen Tulsi driven by word of mouth and her mission to bring this natural stress relief to the greater public so everyone can benefit from the power of these ancient herbs.

17 Jul 2023319. Influencers, Attention, and Media: Examining the Influence of Social Media Personalities: Sean Dillon01:07:32

On this episode of Better Call Daddy, we dive into the evolution of entertainment and media. From comic books to streaming platforms, we explore how market forces have shaped the way we consume content. With the rise of video on demand and audio on demand, viewers now have unlimited options for watching shows or reading comic books at their convenience.

This abundance of content has led to a saturation of offerings, with independent creators forming their own brands. We discuss the challenges of keeping up with the ever-expanding world of characters and iterations, such as Spiderman.

Our guest emphasizes the importance of passion in podcasting and other forms of media, highlighting the rarity of podcasts with over 100 episodes. As the podcasting industry becomes more niche, we uncover the secrets to success, including telling a compelling story and having dedicated listeners. Influencers and the desire for attention in media are also explored, along with a heartwarming anecdote about a passionate fan's encounter with a member of the Wu-Tang Clan.

Additionally, we emphasize the importance of community involvement and staying connected with current events. Our guest shares personal experiences, including their son's upcoming senior year and the expectations of finding a job and being responsible. A trip down memory lane transports us to a childhood moment involving a treasured China Hutch, unexpected guests, and a frightful encounter with Margaret Hamilton, the famous actress known for playing the Wicked Witch of the West.

We also delve into the complexities of fatherhood, as our guest shares their unique relationship with their son and the unconditional love they strive to provide. The influence of grandparents, small-town traditions, and the power of mentorship are acknowledged, highlighting the importance of individuality and effort in achieving success.

We discuss the role of luck, the value of preserving memories, and the joy of cherishing loved ones, particularly in light of the pandemic. The speaker's personal journey takes us through experiences of loss, resilience, and community engagement, culminating in a powerful radiothon that raised millions of dollars for a local children's hospital. We learn about the speaker's sister's battle with Burkitt's Lymphoma and the lasting impact it had on their life's purpose.

The podcast concludes with an inspiring message about karma and the power of putting good into the world. This episode of Better Call Daddy is filled with heartfelt moments, profound reflections, and thought-provoking insights that will leave you inspired and eager to make a difference in your own community.

Sean Dillon loves to hear the word yes. Who doesn't?  His grandparents were special people, who lived through the great depression and had amazing stories from their time in the Army Air Corps and as a Speech & Hearing Pathologist. Their stories are lost to time because they were never recorded or saved.

That’s on him. Beyond the Mic Podcast was created because our world is a rich tapestry and everyone has a story.

His boss once had someone pushing an interview with an American Idol contestant. He didn’t want to do the interview. He poked his head in his office and said, “I got it.” That star told him the four to five minutes of boilerplate interview stuff, but in the last 3 questions, the guest opened up in a new way.

From one conversation five years ago now over 400 where there is always one piece of gold left in the pan at the end of their time together. Sean wants to help people record their favorite stories so they are saved forever.

Before he begins he asks you to keep in your head one question. “Will you share with us your story?”

While still playing on the air he had great interview opportunities that never made it to air. Some were due to length, others were because of the topic. It was time to flip the table on the rules. Any topic/guest is welcome, but you must tell a story & go 'Beyond the Mic.' It's a conversation series with the best actors, artists, authors, and people you need to know. Every guest is shared with authenticity, honesty, and originality giving you content you need to share with others.

Sean A Dillon isn't his real name, but he is the storyteller who wants to tell your story. He was born on the Island, moved around the country because of his parents, and currently lives in Lubbock Texas. and will always see you down the road.

27 May 2022233. Speaking Up For Sportsmanship, Riley Gaines Learned From Her Dad!00:42:36

Today I’m speaking to Riley Gaines who’s speaking up for the injustices in sports!  It’s not just about politics, it’s about fairness!  She has athleticism in her blood and real role model parents!  Her dad was even an NFL player!

You may recognize Riley’s name from the news, she’s recently made headlines for speaking out against injustices in the athletic world against women. This was sparked at a recent NCAA swimming competition where Riley tied for fifth place with a transgender women who is biologically male, Lia Thomas. Riley was told the trophy would be given to her opponent and she would wait for hers in the mail. What infuriated her was not the trophy or lack thereof but the fact that she as a woman at a woman’s competition was pushed aside and disregarded. Today we find out what issues she is facing and why she is speaking up.  Better Call Daddy: The Safe Space For Controversy!

03 Dec 2021182. The Art Of Being H(You)man. Meg Heppner00:48:48

Meg Heppner is going to educate me on her mennonite people!  We talk about how humans bastardize religion and when you start raising kids you have to figure out how to live!  Today she’s facing her God complex!  Better Call Daddy:The Safe Space For Controversy.

Celia, my daughter, sneaks in at the end of the episode with tacos and connects to Meg about having three brothers!

Meg is a life coach, blogger and event host that is passionate about walking with people who want more out of life than just the status quo! She believes that life doesn’t have to work out exactly the way we think it “should” in order to be enjoyed and that people don’t have to be perfect in order to be loved. She believes that we all have the voice of truth inside of us but sometimes it can be hard to hear. And most importantly that we must live between the tension of accepting the things we cannot change and taking massive action on the things we can! Meg creates spaces where women can slow down and process all the things that are influencing and controlling their lives - their everyday thoughts, emotions, and the stories they have been telling themselves.

Spaces where they can look at their inner world, gain valuable insight and then reclaim their personal authority, and make conscious decisions that transform the way they experience their lives! Through one on one coaching, group coaching and workshops Meg helps women show up in the world with more love, and less ego, more compassion, and less judgment, more vulnerability, and less shame, more emotional agility and less fear! Meg is also the current Branch Director of South Surrey/White Rock for Happy Healthy women. Meg’s currently running events are: The Self Love Series (March 2021 to June 2021) The Art Of Being H(You)man Series (January 2021 to April 2021) The Goddess Talks (All of 2021) Meg lives in British Columbia with her husband of 20 years, two teenage boys and their little dog Charlie. 21 Jul 2022248. BookThinkers Family First. Nick Hutchison00:55:02

There is a financial ROI (return on investment) to reading books!   Our human experiences are not that unique there is a book for every problem you are facing.  You can learn from others who have figured out their health, wealth, finances, and happiness!  Books help us realize what’s possible!  Who do you want to be by the end of this year?  Who do you look up to?  Read a book about someone you admire! Nick Hutchinson says when he hit ten thousand followers in 2019 on his non fiction book Instagram account that was the tipping point to him realizing he could get paid to read books.  Not only do authors want to leverage Nick’s audience they are now paying him to help create their own.   Shout out to Evan Carmichael from episode 1 of the Better Call Daddy show for the idea to interview Nick!

29 Nov 2023340. From Hollywood Production to a Heartfelt Reinvention: Jonathan Bogner01:05:06

Life can change in a flash, focus on what gives you meaning!  We are all producers of our own story. Jonathan Bogner went from selling Hollywood films to a heart transplant, a man whose resilience and reinvention offer powerful lessons on embracing life's fragility.

Jonathan's journey will take us from the bustling floor of his pre-to-post-production office, housing a team of 30, through a heart-wrenching battle with English and intonation after a stroke, to the heights of E television, where he and his son's show idea comes to life, revealing years of reality show success.

In a tale that seems scripted for the silver screen, Jonathan shares his life-altering experience of heart failure, the rush to the hospital with pulmonary edema, and the miraculous gift of a heart transplant, complete with its complex emotional and physical aftermath.

Dealing with a donor's preexisting condition, significant weight loss, and muscle atrophy, he is supported by his wife, who transitions from a legal career to becoming his full-time caregiver.

Amidst these personal trials, Jonathan's perspective on life takes a profound turn. He meditates on the daily impact of living with a new heart and the importance of mentorship and imparting wisdom to future generations. He emphasizes the power of support, the significance of a loving upbringing, and the essential nature of building a global community of kindness, even in a world that's often in turmoil.

As Jonathan recounts the heartwarming stories from his Hollywood career, finding emotional fulfillment in family and sports movies, and producing a deeply affecting show about addicts and animals, we hear echoes of the show's theme - love, family, and meaningful living. We'll examine the delicate balance between work and home life, the categorization of friendships, and the ongoing personal evolution one must undertake.

Crucial to his story is the maintenance of health through regular exercise, the avoidance of substance abuse, and cherishing each moment of life itself. Jonathan also shares his future aspirations, such as his desire to positively shape his community by eyeing a park commissioner role.

So, grab your headphones and prepare to be inspired by Jonathan's wit, wisdom, and undying positivity. It's time to discover how the power of a good family, strong friendships, and a tenacious spirit can redefine the fabric of life. Let's find out what happens when life calls—and you better call daddy!

Jonathan Bogner is a remarkable individual with a heroic and inspirational life story. He was a successful reality TV and feature film producer, and an entrepreneur with multiple businesses www.bognerentertainmentinc.com.  In 2008 he suffered heart failure, two massive strokes, and lost the ability to speak (a condition referred to as aphasia).  Jonathan's resilience and determination helped him recover along with a cardio defibrillator (ICD) implanted in his chest. That at a moment's notice will SHOCK him back to life all the while producing reality shows and movies. But the journey didn't stop there; for, he had to face another life-altering moment in 2022 when he had a heart transplant. His tenacity and sense of humor carried him through these extraordinary experiences. Join us as we delve into Jonathan's story--from the impact on his mental health to his amazing journey of rehabilitation and reinventing—and his philosophy about surviving life when all seems hopeless and his positive outlook shines through on www.personalstories.net.

04 Apr 2023304. Caveman Feet With A Barefoot Beat. Yoshua Greenfield01:09:38

What’s it like to be a content creator?  Today we are talking to a former celebrity chef, reality tv show cohost of Brothers Green, who once dreamed of being a rockstar.  Yoshua Greenfield says at first it’s exciting then you start to feel like a caged animal.  You have to break down who you are and who you think you are.  Parents go through their own process of figuring things out as well!

Today we are talking about the death of the ego, understanding who we are, and what we project.  Not all barefoot people are the same!  Better Call Daddy: The Safe Space For Controversy.

After moving to Brooklyn to pursue a life as a musician and rock star Yoshua fell into a terrible depression, lost his way and began feeling as though life was empty and meaningless, even considered ending it all. Through a weird and wonderful twist of fate, he fell upon a series of teachings that showed him that he wasn’t crazy but rather starting to wake up to the true nature of reality. He saw that he wasn’t depressed, but was experiencing a deep inner state of rest (deep-rest), his soul desperately seeking a break from the character he had been playing. Having nearly no previous understanding of the “spiritual path,” and only a desire to burn all that was false to the ground, he began shedding all of the lies and conditioned belief holding him in fear and began to see what it meant to live life in tune with clarity and truth—in harmony with all.

As life is often filled with surprises, the universe began pointing Yoshua in a rather interesting direction which led him to creating an alternative cooking show with his brother and getting signed to a major TV deal where he traveled the world and went on adventures cooking for celebrities. Excited by these new possibilities but feeling conflicted to be amongst a world of wealth and corporate greed, Yoshua began seeing the character he was creating to deal with it all and after seven years of garnering a success he had never dreamed of, he(metaphorically speaking) burnt the house down and was finally free of any perceived self and began focusing on the work he has been doing for the last many years—guiding others that have already woken up from the Matrix and supporting them to live life beyond fear.

For the past ten years Yoshua has also studied the ancient art of sound healing and has been guiding people to unlock their innate musical gifts and experience music as a form of connection and vibrational healing. He hosts song circles as a way to bring about connection amongst fellow humans and has been creating improvised music with one of his favorite bands Yaima and has performed with them on a number of occasions. He also teaches people how to develop a clear and conscious relationship to the foods they consume and how mindful eating can support all areas of your life. He hasn’t worn shoes in three years and can’t get enough of telling people about the glorious benefits of living a more barefoot forward life. Yoshua has studied a variety of different healing practices and resonates mostly with Zen Buddhism and Non-Duality as he has seen how they can help anyone make sense of all aspects of life and live in the present, creating a life of your own design.

He has written a series of 5 books that delve into the simple concept of taking off the false self to uncover who you really are through a variety of mediums—cooking, music, mindful conversations and living barefoot. Yoshua is merely a reflection of what is possible when you live outside of fear, connected to all the gloriousness that is. From this place there are no levels of hierarchy, no destination to get to, from this place all makes perfect sense when we realize who we truly are.  Shout out Benoit Kim for the intro!

06 Jun 2023313. Unveiling the Naked Truth: A Podcaster’s Journey Into Creativity. Kurt Sasso00:47:52

Kurt Sasso started his love affair with technology during his high school days where he was part of the school band, the IT club, and the football team. He went into the IT field right after college and consistently worked his way up from being a system administrator and technical support personnel to a data analyst leading projects and managing data for higher-ups. For him, the IT industry was a great industry to be in, especially during the dot-com bust period. Though he never fulfilled his prediction of becoming a hacker, he loved every bit of the journey he had taken.

Kurt Sasso always had a passion for the entertainment industry. From a young age, he was fascinated by all entertainment from comics, film, and television and dreamed of one day being a part of it. In 2008, Kurt created Two Geeks Talking, a podcast and then a show that gives a platform to talented and creative individuals in the entertainment industry. The show has been a great success and has become a staple for fans of comics, film, television and even musicians. Through his interviews, Kurt provides in-depth insights into the creative process as well as the introspective nature of what makes a person creative and passionate about their respective industry. After working in the IT industry for 20 years, Kurt decided to follow his passion and returned to university to pursue a degree in Communications, Media, and Film and Visual Arts, which allowed him to gain a deeper understanding of the creative process behind different mediums. Throughout his career, Kurt has interviewed many of the biggest names in the entertainment industry, including actors, writers, directors, producers, comic writers and artists. His ability to connect with his guests and get them to open up about their life and work has made Two Geeks Talking one of the more popular shows to date. Kurt's love of interviewing talented and creative people has never waned in the 15 years since he started Two Geeks Talking. He continues to provide a platform for showcasing incredible talent, and his passion for the entertainment industry shines through in every episode of his show/podcast.

27 Mar 2024361. From Vertigo to Vocal Warmups: Helene Beck: Coming From the Heart Podcast01:09:03

Today's guest, Helene Beck recently celebrated her 100th episode on her very own podcast, Coming from the Heart. I love her enthusiasm for hosting the show, her motivation to inspire exercise, and her profound passion for music.

Her love for music began at a young age, as she would sing along to commercials and mimic songs she heard. This passion for music led her to take lessons when she was around 10 or 11 years old.

She continued to nurture her musical talent by listening to albums and singing along to artists like Stevie Wonder and Billy Joel, forming a deep connection to singing and music early on.

She remained involved in music, participating in choir and pursuing music voice lessons at a studio in Hoboken. She took her musical endeavors seriously, recording at a studio in Brooklyn, a professional environment where even Lady Gaga had recorded.

Despite her busy schedule and teaching career, Helene always found solace in music and expressed a desire to return to singing and recording, recognizing the therapeutic and fulfilling nature of music in her life.

Helene's experiences with music highlight its significant role in her life, from childhood singing to professional recording sessions. Music has been a constant source of joy, expression, and creativity for her, shaping her identity and providing a means of emotional release and connection.

Helene's mother had a profound impact on shaping her values and passions. As a reading recovery teacher dedicated to education, the mother instilled a strong sense of community service in the speaker. Going above and beyond in her role, she bought supplies for students and gave back to the community, inspiring the her own actions and choices.

Her mother's commitment to education was evident in her journey, where she aspired to pursue a career in science but settled for being a lab technician due to financial constraints.

Despite this, she later went back to school in her forties to pursue her educational goals, showcasing resilience and determination. This perseverance likely influenced the Helene's own pursuit of passions and continuous learning.

Helene's admiration for her mother's dedication to education and community service is evident in her own actions, such as collaborating with the Hoboken Shelter and advocating for mental health awareness.

The values instilled by her mother have translated into a passion for giving back to the community and making a positive impact, reflecting a deep-rooted influence that continues to shape the Helene's choices and endeavors.

Helene's father, a school principal, had a strong sense of humor and used it as a coping mechanism, especially during challenging times. Despite facing illness and tough situations, he maintained a humorous outlook.

For example, even when in the hospital, he would use humor and sarcasm to lighten the mood. This ability to find humor in challenging times not only helped Helene's father cope but also influenced her own perspective on dealing with adversity.

She mentions that her father's humor was a way to release tension and bring levity to difficult moments, showing that laughter can be a powerful tool for resilience and emotional well-being. This aspect of her father's personality highlights the importance of finding joy and humor even in the face of adversity, emphasizing the value of maintaining a positive outlook and using humor as a coping mechanism in tough times.

Describing my dad as an embellisher and creator, she had her question for my dad prepared: Does he perceive a change in awareness surrounding mental health?

Her father adhered to the mentality of enduring hardships without expressing emotions, reflecting the stark generational differences. Despite this, she recalls a rare moment of seeing him cry upon losing his own father.

Join us on the journey of self-exploration through a wide range of topics and discussions with diverse guests from around the world. We heal one heart at a time

In June 2020, in the height of the pandemic Helene  launched the Coming From The Heart Podcast, an inspirational platform addressing mental health, mindfulness, never feeling alone and overcoming challenges. Her momentum to begin the podcast stemmed from her own mental health struggles with vertigo. What Helene did not realize at the time is that mind and body are synchronized and that going through personal trauma affects the body as much as the mind.

By determining to find her own voice, and dimmed light, she seeked to find a  community to rekindle her passion  and courage. Coming From The Heart Podcast, continues to be Helene’s healing journey, for it is her story that embodies strength and resiliency. Her story began by walking the beautiful beaches of  the  Jersey shore  that allowed her to inhale the sea breezes, collect sand in her shoes, and to connect with nature. Coming back home allowed her to  plunge forward with strength, courage and extraordinary tenacity.

Four years later she continues to  chase stories with incredible voices of celebrities and communities of others who share a common mental health thread to empower, heal, spread kindness and change the world with sparks of hope and love. Helene believes in the  5 C’s of mental health: Commitment, Communication, Concentration, Control, and Confidence, evident in every facet of her being!

In December 2024, Helene launched Perspective Power Moves, PPM

As former international graduate professor, Helene supported many with her incredible intuitiveness and ability to support  career journeys with a mental health spin. Her insight to market your personal story has gifted her with the ability to share insight assisting many in securing positions with renowned technical companies, including Uber, Google, Apple, and Tesla.

Her perseverance  and unique ability to reshape personal stories became her “secret sauce” in guiding others through the competitive job market. Ultimately, Helene believes in cultivating comfort and confidence in individuals, especially during their  journey to find the right professional position. What she believes is that 99% of the search is within ourselves,  and all  we need is the support motivation and confidence to plunge forward, that is where Helene comes in!

28 Jan 2022199. The Truth About College. Robert McGraw00:43:46

A lot of kids getting ready to attend college could use a guide!  There’s a lot to figure out and you need a plan!  Where are all the college scholarships hiding?  What will payments look like for a hundred thousand dollars in debt for a masters degree?  There are opportunities available to fund college instead of sleeping in.  Today we talk to Rob McGraw, Global Talent Leader, Author of 12 Lies About College, and my toastmaster mentor about what to consider before attending university!  Better Call Daddy: The Safe Space For Controversy!

Robert McGraw was born in the humble south suburbs of Chicago. His childhood solidified a character defining independence and fearlessness that have proven to be his greatest assets. After serving five years in the Marine Corps, he returned to Illinois and began working full time. Once again stable, he leveraged the Illinois Veterans Grant and Montgomery GI Bill to complete a B.S. and MBA in five years, at a profit of more than $ 24,000.

After experiencing professional success, helping friends and family, and recalling lessons learned along the way, he decided to give back by helping those at this critical juncture in their lives.
