A surprisingly decent episode that feels like the first real attempt at fleshing out Anakin and Padme's relationship in the Clone Wars, and also serves as a bridge to the Geonosis arc. We were surprised to learn that this episode was actually referencing a Hitchcock movie, Notorious, from 1946, which helps to explain why the story ends so strongly. Let's jump in!

And finally we reach the conclusion of our trilogy, not just of Revenge of the Sith but of the prequels as a whole! And what a way to go out, with easily the strongest of the prequel movies putting on a clinic in how to end an arc. We have some minor issues with the portrayal of the transformation from Anakin to Vader, mirroring issues we had with the middle third of the movie zipping past information that could have improved understanding of character motivations, but outside of that the finale is fantastic in every aspect. Every actor steps up their game, the cinematography is unmatched, and John Williams takes things up to the next level. We go for stretches of minutes at a time without a single line of dialogue being delivered, and when that dialogue does eventually arrive it's all the more impactful for it. We know it's been a wait to get here, so let's dive in!

The showrunners seem to have developed the much appreciated ability to take an episode than in past seasons would have been disparaged as "filler" and give it just enough core plot movement to stave off that label. The majority of the focus of this episode is on the interpersonal relationships between members of the Batch, with some interesting parallels to Dune thrown in, and that's the strength of the show that has sometimes been missing from past episodes focused on the core characters. We follow up the cinematic masterpiece that is the opening act of Revenge of the Sith with a much more exposition based middle of the movie. The plot moves along, sometimes too quickly for our taste, but we start to see Sidious's plot come together more overtly, much to his and our joy. Some fantastically fun acting from the movie's villain gives us some of Star Wars' most quotable lines, and we get some great character moments from Anakin and Obi-Wan too! Let's dive in!

A surprise second episode this week, so we can get a little bit ahead of the game before taking two weeks off. Episode 7 serves as a transitional episode between Andor's first half of the season and the second, and as such we spend a large amount of time basically resetting characters to the new status quo. Political intrigue and jockeying for position has reach an all time high within the ISB, while both Cyril and Andor become cogs in the machine that is the Empire, albeit in different ways. The theme of the episode could be best described as "consequences" with Luthen pointing out that people suffering due to the Aldhani heist in the point of the whole thing. The Empire steps up its oppression, leading to ripples across the whole galaxy from Coruscant to Ferrix. Let's jump in!

With these two episodes we experience a bit of tonal whiplash following so close on the heels of the excellent and very dark Identity Crisis, but there's some good stuff to be found. Point of No Return is a solidly decent episode, although at times we wish it had pushed the stakes a little higher, and Juggernaut is a return to typical Bad Batch fare for better or worse, though it has some good humor and excellent animation. Somewhat surprisingly, we have never discussed The Clone Wars move that was released in theaters to introduce people to the show on Cartoon Network. Spoiler alert: We feel it was a weird choice to use this particular arc from Season 1 as the theatrical release, when there are at least two other arcs that feel better suited for cinema. We're back with the second half of our introduction to the Clone Wars, and while we're overall disappointed in the movie itself, we have a lot to discuss in terms of how expectations can sink (or elevate) a viewing experience. Stories can create different expectations just by virtue of being called a movie or a show, and release schedules can also impact those experiences. These next two episodes have the difficult task of following up on two of the best episodes in the series, but the Crossing starts out strong with some of the best character development we have seen within the Bad Batch yet. Unfortunately what could have been an interesting "bottle" episode gets mired down in an unneeded linkage to a secondary story about a group of youthful miners/prisoners ruled over by a terrible leader, and the conclusion of the two-parter struggles to mimic a fraction of the power that the Andor Narkina-5 arc had. In the end, it feels like the first episode would have benefitted from being a standalone, and the second episode needed a more compelling reason to believe there was actually a possibility the workers wouldn't overthrow the ruler. We've finally reached the conclusion of Ahsoka's first season, and we have a lot of thoughts to share. It's one of the rare occasions where both hosts agree on a lot of things but disagree on the overall score for the episode, with Mercules being pretty high on the presentation and moral of Ahsoka's journey, while Kutch is left feeling like some of the issues took away from the overall story too much. The fifth episode of Book of Boba Fett is absolutely amazing Star Wars content, but is it really just the first episode of the third season of Mandalorian? The Malevolence arc starts of strong with some surprisingly dark scenes, and manages to keep a high level of quality throughout parts two and three, making us wish that this instead of the Rotta arc had been chosen for the premier movie event. Episode 3 is here and there is a lot to love, including some wonderful scenes that evoke memories of the Original Trilogy, Clone Wars, and Rebels each individually, along with some good character growth for our core players. However, we do have some criticisms about the way the first couple scenes handle the explanation of where certain characters are at in this story and why they take the paths they do, in terms of how those things play out for the more casual viewers. Join us for a behind the scenes look at what it took to make the original trilogy, presented through the interesting lens that was the early 2000s. It turns out that Star Wars was not just a labor of George Lucas's passion for the story, but it also took a lot of other people believing in a relatively unproven filmmaker and a generous helping of luck to get it off the ground, and even then the production still almost collapsed under the weight of ambition multiple times (nearly taking George down with it).

Chapter 21 ended up being a totally unexpected turn in this season's story and a ton of fun! If you love classic Star Wars, this episode is for you. We get stereotypical space-pirate enemies, inefficient Republic bureaucracy, Mandalorians showing why they are some of the most well-renowned fighters in the galaxy, a bunch of super fun cameos, a dastardly plot simmering under the surface, and even a good dose of tension right at the end! Chapter 20 is in the books, and man did we have fun with this one! The flashback in the middle of the episode is one of the high points for the series, and the story told of a day in the life at the Mandalorian covert is enjoyable as well, though with a weird lack of urgency given the situation. All in all, short but sweet with a good amount of character development for everyone's favorite warrior aunt, Bo Katan.

The first two episodes of Bad Batch Season 2 feel like a bit of a regression from the strong ending we experienced in Season 1. The stakes are low, the world building is present but not a central focus, and there is little in the way of interesting character progression. On the positive side, we do get to see some beautiful bits of a destroyed Serenno, as well as more of Admiral Rampart and the clones who still serve the Empire, which helps to elevate an otherwise middling two-part episode.

We pick up 10 years after The Phantom Menace, and Anakin has grown up to be quite... something. A phenomenal opening act, spoiled only by some honestly creepy romantic dialogue that is extremely hard to overlook. Coruscant shines as the main focal point of the first quarter of the movie, and explorations of Naboo and Kamino are enjoyable as well. Obi-Wan as a detective is a great story device, but the romantic plot between Anakin and Padme feels forced. Let's jump in and see how we feel about the first half of Attack of the Clones!

We continue our watch-through with a very typical Clone Wars episode with some fun lightsaber fights and exciting battles, followed by half of an episode which discusses the moral quandary with using Clones, with the other half being a continuation of the less than exciting chase for Grievous. We end up wishing that the focus had been entirely on the Clones, and the question of whether they are allowed to have free-will, but it does lay some interesting groundwork for later seasons of Clone Wars and The Bad Batch. Book of Boba Fett season 1 has come to an end, and what a conclusion it was! Rancors, droids, mods, and more are all on display in an enjoyable and chaotic climax to the controversial show. Some of our favorite characters come to an end, some are reunited, and the maybe the gang even gets to experience the true meaning of family, but does the season end on a high note or a bit of a letdown? Let's talk about chapter 7!

Just before the midway point in the season, and Bad Batch still feels like it is trying to figure out what it wants to be in a post-Kamino world. Entombed is an Indiana Jones style adventure with a bit of heart, but it closes off the storylines it opens in almost the same breath, with a confusingly short climax. Tribe fares better, but for the most part wastes Kashyyyk and the return of a certain Wookie Padawan with low stakes enemies, although we do get introduced to the enjoyable Vanguard Axis smugglers. Episode 2 is here, and with it comes an expertly crafted bridge between the catalyst's of the first episode and the inevitable merging of all of the disparate character's story lines. Syril makes some progress (and a new friend), while Andor starts to really feel the pressure, and we get our first glance of the mysterious buyer who wants to meet him. We're near the end of Bad Batch's second season, and we've offered an episode that is pretty much a 20 minute establishing shot in Pabu, and then an episode that lives up to its name in Tipping Point. Pabu is probably a low point in the second half of the season not because it is a bad episode, but simply because not much happens and it is surrounded by pivotal moments in the story. Tipping Point, on the other hand, is excellent and gives us another half of a Crosshair story which I've come to appreciate as one of my favorites. Let's jump in!

From this point on, Andor's first season hits its pace and never falters. The worst thing about this episode was that we both found it impossible to not immediately continue watching when we were done! Nobody's Listening sets up a strong conclusion to the season as all the pieces on the board are finally moving into place, and the slow burn of the early episodes is completely paid off.

Well, we've finally reached the conclusion of the sequel trilogy, and for the first time, the hosts really disagree on where they fall on a movie. Kutch found himself hating RoS even more upon the latest rewatch, whereas Merc has softened his opinion slightly. Why do they keep introducing named characters who serve no purpose? The third episode of Book of Boba Fett is quite a mixed bag. There are criticisms about action scenes and story beats, but also some really great exposition and fun new characters added to the mix! Let's talk about our thoughts on Streets of Mos Espa and share some opinions on the community's reaction to it as well!

And with this, we come to the end of Season 3 of the Mandalorian, and what a journey it has been! We wrap up the season on a high note with the conclusion to last week's semi-cliffhanger episode, neatly putting a bow on the main storyline that has been in progress all the way from Season 1. We wouldn't have been disappointed if this was a series finale instead of a seasonal one, as this episode brings it all together so neatly. With barely a moment of filler in the whole thing, we hit pretty much every storyline we've seen so far at least for a moment and they even let a couple of previously supporting characters play pivotal roles. We've finally reached the end of the second season of Bad Batch, and we're going out on a high note (at least as far as episode quality goes). Surprisingly poignant, with little to no levity which is appreciated given the story they tell, and with an interesting semi-twist at the end that leaves us on a cliffhanger and excited for Season 3, this is a very solid two-part episode and arguably one of the best Bad Batch has given us so far. Well, we're finally talking about the Sequel Trilogy, for better or for worse. Our overall opinions on the sequels may differ, but we both were able to find some things we really loved and enjoyed about TFA, as well as some area where we feel they could have told a better story. After an extended break for Bad Batch and The Acolyte we finally return to our chronological watch through of the Clone Wars series. Season 2 starts off with a bang with the introduction of one of our favorite characters, Cad Bane, and the arc is an overall big step up from Season 1's limited production capabilities. What an episode this turned out to be! All of the tension that has been built up in the previous episodes comes to a head, and the consequences for some characters turn out to be dire. A lot happens in this episode, with some subtle blink and you'll miss it foreshadowing about true character motivations and turning allegiances hidden in the action. The time spent building up these characters also pays off in spades when the powder keg that is Aldhani finally ignites, and even the Imperials get some time in the spotlight. We continue on, a week delayed, with the middle part of our 5-part Geonosis arc. Standing strong on their own, Landing at Point Rain channels the best parts of Band of Brothers or Saving Private Ryan without becoming too adult, and Weapons Factory takes a hard look at the master-padawan relationship between Ahsoka and Anakin, in a way that is strongly reminiscent of some scenes we have seen recently in Ahsoka's own show. We're back with episode 6 which is, in our opinion, one of the best "middle of an arc" episodes we've gotten in a Star Wars show to this point. Well written, with good character development, the only flaw is that it seemingly asks more questions than it gives answers, which we find to be a very risky proposition this late in the season. Truly a perfect episode in almost every facet, One Way Out is the highest point so far in Andor's first season. An episode that has almost everything you could want for the core story lines we've been following so far (except poor Cyril has has been left on the outside looking in for now), and topped of with two of the most incredible monologues we've ever heard, episode 10 is must watch TV for any fan of Star Wars. Our road to Ahsoka ends here, the day before the two part release, with our primer on the suspected main antagonist of the series: Mitth'raw'nuruodo AKA Thrawn! We begin with a discussion of the books, both canon and non-canon, but the meat of the episode is focused on his appearances in Rebels.
