16 Dec 2020 | The Cousins Book Club | 01:00:12
For the last book club of 2020, we chose The Cousins by Karen McManus. This is a twisty YA thriller, sans murder - making it kind of the perfect book for both of us! This is the tale of Milly, Aubrey, and Jonah Story: three cousins who barely know each other but are invited to work at their estranged grandmother’s resort. All of their parents have been disinherited and the cousins learn more and more about the dark secrets of their family’s past. We chat about which cousins we relate to most, our theories about the ending, and our interest in the psyche of the adult characters. We both really enjoyed this book and we hope you did too!

27 Jan 2021 | Big Magic Book Club | 01:13:38
We found it fitting that Big Magic by Elizabeth Gilbert was our first book club of 2021. Becca reads this book every January to jumpstart her year, and we wanted to include you on her tradition. Reading this book is the creativity pep talk we all need so badly right now. Elizabeth approaches creativity with lightness and joy. Even if you don’t consider yourself a creative person, you will take so much away from this book. We touch on each chapter and our biggest takeaways and share our own journeys with creativity. 13 Jan 2021 | 2021 Resolutions | 01:13:57
It’s the time of year where we reflect on past resolutions and create new ones for the new year ahead. As we look back on the insanity of 2020 and the way that it affected our goals and ability to achieve them, we found some silver linings! Although we are definitely cautious as we set our 2021 goals, we’re also optimistic. We talk about our personal, business, and mental and physical health resolutions and the steps we are taking to get there. Whether you like to make resolutions or you just like to wing it, we support it! If we learned anything in 2020, it’s that this year needs to be about being good to yourself.

For this month’s book club, we’re talking about We Came Here to Forget by Andrea Dunlop. The book follows ex-professional skier, Katie Cleary as she starts a new life in Buenos Aires. Along the way, this book kept us guessing about the dark secret in her past that led her to move away and start a new life. We both devoured this book in one day: Grace needed to find out the shocking truth about Katie’s sister, while Becca was living for Katie’s story of redemption in Argentina—complete with tango lessons and a new, foreign lover.

Our March Book Club Pick is I’ll Give you the Sun by Jandy Nelson. Before we get into the book, we talk a little bit about Coronavirus and how we’re feeling. This book is the perfect quarantine read as it feels a bit like a cozy warm hug. The book is the story of Jude and Noah - twins who were once inseparable, but have now grown apart. Via alternating timelines, we learn the heartbreaking reasons that this has happened. Noah tells the story of their younger years, meanwhile Jude’s timeline takes place three years later when they are 16. It’s magically written and a feel good read… we can’t recommend it enough!

09 Dec 2019 | Bad on Politics #3: WTF is Medicare for all? Margot Sanger-Katz gives us a healthcare primer | 00:41:23
In this episode of Bad on Politics we dive into one of our most-requested topics… healthcare! We’re joined by New York Times journalist, Margot Sanger-Katz, to break down the various healthcare structures on the table in this election and which candidates support which plan. We also spend some time discussing the implications of these plans and whether they’re feasible (or likely given our current congressional map). We’re certainly feeling way more healthcare-literate after this episode, and hope you do too!
For more Margot Sanger-Katz: @sangerkatz on twitter https://www.nytimes.com/by/margot-sanger-katz - for her articles
About Bad on Politics: Bad on Politics is a monthly bonus episode where we invite a guest expert to help us break down a political topic. We get it, politics is confusing and there's a anxiety-inducing amount of news coverage to follow. So, we're here to ask the "dumb" questions so you don't have to. We want to break things down so you can understand what's going on and make an informed opinion.

17 Jun 2020 | Ayana Lage on Anti-Racism on Social Media, Going Viral, and Being a Black influencer Right Now | 01:25:28
Ayana Lage is a freelance marketer and writer in Tampa. More recently, a few of her videos about Black Lives Matter went viral. (We highly recommend her as a resource for everything from virtue signaling to microaggressions, and her stance on Blackout Tuesday, and more to come!) She joins us today to talk about the intensity of the last few weeks, and her thoughts on it all. Everything from how it feels to go viral, what brands can do to be more inclusive (and who is doing it right!), and how growth on her platform is affecting her life personally and professionally. She answers your questions about how the regular person can use their social media presence to support Black Lives Matter and support anti-racist activism. Do yourself a favor and check out her videos and follow her for continued education and insight.

We’re so excited to discuss Before We Were Innocent by Ella Berman, a 2 time BOP book club author! This book fits right in the venn diagram of Becca and Olivia’s differing book tastes. We discuss how we felt about the friendship between the characters in the past vs present timeline (and between teenage girls in general), if we saw the twists coming, the Amanda Knox parallels, thoughts on the ending, and ask ourselves the question ‘who would you go to if you were suspected of murder?’

15 Apr 2020 | FMK: Quarantine Edition | 00:55:08
Today, we poured ourselves a glass of wine and play a remote game of FMK (Fuck, Marry, Kill) with YOUR prompts! But first, we catch up on how we are holding up in quarantine. We are definitely a mix of adjusting and feeling trapped, but over all we are doing alright.
This episode is a weird one and we are into it. We go through all the important categories… books, meals, celebs, TV characters. Becca kills breakfast (and short men?) and Grace makes a surprising choice when it comes to the Younger cast. Also: who knew the hardest questions would be about food?? We hope you enjoy and are inspired to prompt your friends… we highly recommend setting up a FMK Zoom with your own friends!

We decided to do a lighter episode this week. On instagram we asked you to propose some fun ‘would you rather’ scenarios and boy, did you deliver! Some are crazy (but for better or worse we still made our choice!), some are silly, and we definitely didn’t agree on everything. Which one of us would give up booze? Which one would give up travel? Who would rather have a lobster claw for an arm than a floor length white beard? What could make us give up books? What about quarantining forever? You can learn a lot about a person in a good game of WYR. We hope this episode makes you laugh!

She’s baaaack! Our most popular guest Carly Heitlinger (of the lifestyle blog Carly the Prepster!) joins us this week to catch up on how she is feeling at this point in the pandemic and what she has been doing to cope with anxiety and inability to really plan anything. Anything… but her upcoming wedding, that is! She gives us the scoop on her super-surprise proposal and tells us more about her fiance Mike (and his family). We also talk a little bit about politics and Carly’s decision to endorse Joe Biden. Lastly, we chat about blogging during a pandemic - it’s definitely been interesting? We wind down the episode talking about favorite snacks (hard agree on one choice, hard disagree on another) and how she manages to only follow 50 people on Instagram!

24 Nov 2021 | Ghosts Book Club | 01:12:11
This week we finally get to discuss our November Book Club pick, Ghosts by Dolly Alderton. This book captured modern dating in a way we haven’t seen before, and honestly, we can’t agree on if the ending was satisfying or not. Ghosts follows Nina Dean, a London woman in her early thirties with a successful career as a food writer and loving friends and family. When she downloads a dating app, she meets a great guy on her first date. When Max tells Nina he's going to marry her on date one, it feels like all is going to plan. But when Max ghosts her, Nina is forced to deal with everything she's been trying so hard to ignore. Obsessions

We welcome back friend of the pod (and former Obama Deputy Chief of Staff), Alyssa Mastromonaco to answer our burning questions about this presidential election. She also touches on Amy Klobuchar, Elizabeth Warren, Mike Bloomberg, and why we need to keep an eye on how the candidates spend their money (like during the Superbowl). She also explains how the caucus system works (it’s kind of crazy!) and why local politics are so important if you want to enact real change.

17 Jul 2019 | Alex Dickerson Joins Us to Discuss Friendship, Careers, Angry Cats, and Bad Break-Ups. | 01:56:11
In this episode, we are joined our third sorority house member (and other best friend), Alex Dickerson. It's a longer episode and we talk about everything from friendship and dating to careers and going back to school for na MBA. There's also a mini Grace roast and a few embarrassing stories. Alex has had an incredible career thus far, complete with nearly being the star of a reality TV show and going to business school in Barcelona. We also talk about her messy dating story (+ broken engagement), and how that has shaped her into the person she is today. This episode was so much fun, and we hope you love Alex as much as we do! Also in this episode, Becca has purchased a fancy home luggage stand, and Grace is obsessed with Sephora’s new clean beauty line. If you’re looking for a new read, join us for our July book club where we talk about American Spy. Sponsors:

Followers by Megan Angelo is a thought provoking take on influencer culture. The book alternates between the present day story of Orla and Floss living in modern day New York with their own reality TV show; and Marlow, 35 years from now living in a town called Constellation where influencers have become government employees and have their lives broadcasted 23/7. It’s sharp and witty (and a bit of a cautionary tale - when does sharing go TOO FAR?) This book is a great conversation starter and will take you on a wild ride from New York to California to a futuristic (internet-free) colony called Atlantis. We couldn’t put this book down and are still thinking about it weeks later!
