22 Jan 2025Church, Part 9 of What We Believe, Part 4500:56:23

Rapp Report episode 328

Discussed from What We Believe?

"The Bible teaches the calling of all saints to the work of service (1 Corinthians 15:58Ephesians 4:12Revelation 22:12).

"The need of the church is to cooperate with God as He accomplishes His purpose in the world. To that end, He gives the church spiritual gifts. First, He gives men chosen for the purpose of equipping the saints for the work of the ministry (Ephesians 4:7-12), and He also gives unique and special spiritual abilities to each member of the body of Christ (Romans 12:5-81 Corinthians 12:4-311 Peter 4:10-11)."

The calling of all saints to the work of service is the central theme of this episode, emphasizing that the church is not merely a social club but a community where each member is expected to contribute actively. Host Andrew Rappaport and guest Harold Smith delve into the importance of understanding and utilizing spiritual gifts within the body of Christ to fulfill God's purpose. They explore the misconception that church attendance is sufficient, stressing that genuine participation and service are essential for a healthy church environment. The conversation highlights how service should be motivated by a desire to glorify God, rather than seeking personal gain or avoiding potential hurt from past experiences. With a mix of personal anecdotes and theological insights, the hosts encourage listeners to engage in meaningful ways, ultimately fostering a vibrant and functioning church community.

Takeaways:

  • The church is not merely a social club; it's a place for service and ministry.
  • Every believer is uniquely gifted to contribute to their local church's mission.
  • Serving in the church requires a mindset shift from receiving to giving.
  • Healthy churches have members actively seeking ways to serve, not just consume.
  • Pastors should not only teach doctrine but also equip their congregation for service.
  • All Christians are called to use their gifts to glorify God and help others.

18 Sep 2024Church, Denominations, Part 6 of What We Believe, Part 4201:06:25

Rapp Report episode 311

Andrew returns to the series What We Believe.

The local church is autonomous, free from any external authority or control, with the right of self-government and freedom from the interference of any hierarchy of individuals or organizations (Titus 1:5). It is scriptural for true churches to cooperate with each other for the presentation and propagation of the faith. Each local church, however, through its elders and their interpretation and application of Scripture, should be the sole judge of the measure and method of its cooperation. The elders should determine all other matters of membership, policy, discipline, benevolence, and government, as well (Acts 15:19-3120:281 Corinthians 5:4-7131 Peter 5:1-4).

29 Jan 2025Church, Part 10 - Spiritual Gifts Part 1 of What We Believe, Part 4600:56:29

Rapp Report episode 329

Discussed from What We Believe?

"There were two kinds of gifts given to the early church. Miraculous gifts of divine revelation and healing were given temporarily in the apostolic era for the purpose of confirming the authenticity of the apostles’ message (Hebrews 2:3-42 Corinthians 12:12). Ministering gifts were given to equip believers for edifying one another. With the New Testament revelation now complete, Scripture becomes the sole test of the authenticity of a man’s message, and confirming gifts of a miraculous nature are no longer necessary to validate a man or his message (1 Corinthians 13:8-12). Miraculous gifts can even be counterfeited by Satan to deceive even believers (1 Corinthians 13:13-14:12Revelation 13:13-14). The only gifts in operation today are those non-revelatory equipping gifts given for edification (Romans 12:6-8). No one possesses the gift of healing today, but God does hear and answer the prayer of faith and will answer in accordance with His own perfect will for the sick, suffering, and afflicted (Luke 18:1-6John 5:7-92 Corinthians 12:6-10James 5:13-161 John 5:14-15)."

01 Jan 2025The Ultimate New Year’s Resolution: Dive into God's Word00:52:19

This episode emphasizes the critical importance of engaging with the Word of God as a foundational aspect of the Christian life. Pastor Dan explores Deuteronomy 6, highlighting the command to love the Lord with all one's heart, soul, and might while integrating Scripture into daily life. He encourages listeners to not merely read the Bible but to meditate on it, allowing its teachings to shape their worldview and decisions. By reflecting on historical figures like Martin Luther and Jan Hus, he illustrates the transformative power of the Scriptures and the sacrifices made for the accessibility of God’s Word. As the new year begins, this sermon serves as a poignant reminder to prioritize Bible reading and deepen one’s relationship with God through His Word.

Andrew Rappaport, the host of the Rappaport podcast, kicks off the New Year by sharing a sermon he delivered at his home church, Oxford Valley Chapel. The sermon centers on the importance of studying the Word of God, especially as listeners embark on a new year filled with opportunities for spiritual growth. Rappaport emphasizes the need for Christians to engage with Scripture meaningfully, suggesting that the Bible is not just a book to be read but a vital resource for understanding one’s faith and living it out daily. He draws from the teachings found in Deuteronomy 6, which outlines the commandments given to Israel, stressing that these instructions are not merely historical but hold relevance for believers today.

Rappaport delves into the significance of the Shema, a foundational declaration in Jewish faith that underscores the oneness of God and the call to love Him with all one's heart, soul, and might. He reflects on the tendency of modern believers to take the Bible for granted, contrasting this with the historical sacrifices made by individuals who valued Scripture so highly they were willing to die for it. The sermon serves as a poignant reminder that true engagement with the Bible requires more than cursory readings; it demands a heart committed to understanding and applying God’s Word in every aspect of life. Rappaport encourages listeners to not just read the Bible, but to meditate on it, allowing its truths to permeate their lives and guide their actions as they navigate the challenges and joys of the new year.

Takeaways:

  • Reading the Bible daily is essential for spiritual growth and deeper understanding of God.
  • We must view life through the lens of Scripture to navigate challenges effectively.
  • Moses emphasized the importance of teaching God's commandments to future generations.
  • Engagement with the Bible should be about meditative reflection, not just casual reading.
  • The historical significance of the Bible shows its transformative power in believers' lives.
  • Our love for God grows as we understand His Word and what He has done for us.

12 Feb 2025A Cover for Glory: A Biblical Defense for Headcoverings01:29:55

Rapp Report episode 331

Head coverings have emerged as a hot topic in recent discussions, as highlighted by Dale Partridge, who notes that this issue has not really been a point of contention for centuries but is now gaining traction. The conversation pivots around Dale Partridge's book, "A Cover for Glory," which argues that head coverings were once a universal practice among women in the church and have become obscured in modern times, particularly due to the influence of feminism. Andrew Rappaport engages in a spirited dialogue with Partridge, exploring the theological implications and historical contexts of head coverings, particularly in light of 1 Corinthians 11. They delve into the nuances of authority, gender roles, and the significance of submission in the Christian faith, suggesting that the resurgence of interest in head coverings may reflect a deeper craving for biblical order and masculinity in a culture increasingly at odds with traditional values. Ultimately, the episode serves as a platform for listeners to reconsider their understanding of head coverings and the broader implications for church life and gender dynamics today.

Takeaways:

  • Head coverings have emerged as a controversial topic in contemporary Christian discourse, particularly as cultural dynamics shift and traditional practices are reexamined.
  • Dale Partridge's book, 'A Cover for Glory', argues that the historical practice of women wearing head coverings has roots that span across many centuries and cultures.
  • The discussion around head coverings is not merely about physical adornment but is deeply intertwined with theological concepts of authority and gender roles in the church.
  • There's a noticeable trend among younger Christians moving towards traditionalism, including the practice of head coverings, as a response to modern feminism and cultural shifts in gender perception.

27 Nov 2024Abolitionists at the Capitol: Standing for Life in Public Office00:49:16

Rapp Report episode 321

Dusty Devers and Andrew Rappaport engage in a thought-provoking discussion about the necessity of Christians stepping into the political arena, emphasizing that silence in the face of societal decay is not an option. They argue that the separation of faith from public life allows for a moral vacuum that can lead to dire consequences, akin to historical tragedies. Devers shares his journey as a state senator and the importance of being bold in advocating for justice and righteousness, especially regarding issues like abortion. The conversation highlights the need for young men to count the cost before entering politics, balancing their convictions with the realities of public service. Ultimately, they stress the significance of standing firm in one’s faith, not just for personal integrity but for the future generations who will inherit the consequences of today’s decisions.

The episode presents a stimulating dialogue between Andrew Rappaport and Dusty Devers, centering on the imperative for Christians to assert their influence in political realms. The discussion is set against the backdrop of the Fight Laugh Feast conference, where both speakers reflect on their experiences and the challenges of maintaining faith-driven convictions in public office. Dusty elaborates on the vital role of integrity in leadership, emphasizing that public servants must embody the virtues they advocate for, especially in the context of defending life and justice. This discussion resonates deeply with the current societal landscape, where the erosion of moral values is increasingly evident in political discourse.

Andrew and Dusty delve into the theological foundations of their arguments, positing that Christians are biblically mandated to engage with the culture around them, rather than retreating from it. They discuss the concept of being an 'upstander,' a term that encapsulates the proactive stance Christians should take against injustices and moral failings in society. Dusty shares insights from his own political journey, illustrating how a commitment to faith can shape legislative priorities and influence community standards. Throughout the conversation, they draw parallels between personal accountability and public integrity, urging listeners to reflect on their roles as agents of change in their respective spheres.

The episode serves as a clarion call for believers to recognize their potential impact in the political sphere, encouraging them to step forward with confidence and resolve. Dusty offers practical wisdom for those considering a political path, advocating for a foundation of faithfulness in personal and community responsibilities before seeking office. The underlying message is clear: engaging in politics is not merely a civic duty; it is a vital expression of one's faith and commitment to the principles of the Kingdom of God. The dialogue concludes with a heartfelt exhortation to embrace the calling to influence culture, echoing the sentiment that a lack of participation from Christians only paves the way for further secularization.

Takeaways:

  • Engaging in politics as a Christian requires counting the cost of public scrutiny.
  • Being involved in local government can significantly influence the culture of your community.
  • Christians should actively participate in political spheres to uphold biblical principles and values.
  • Men must provide leadership in their homes before pursuing roles in public office.
  • True ministry is about glorifying God, not building personal platforms or reputations.

The episode intricately weaves personal anecdotes with theological insights, illustrating that the essence of evangelism lies in sharing the transformative message of Christ's sacrifice and grace. Rappaport argues for a proactive approach, encouraging believers to create opportunities for dialogue about faith rather than waiting for perfect moments to present themselves. This proactive stance is underscored by their humorous exchange about cold plunges, a metaphor for the discomfort often associated with evangelism, yet ultimately rewarding. The episode serves as a call to action for evangelistic fervor and a reminder of the joy and purpose that comes from sharing one’s faith with others.

05 Feb 2025Church, Part 11 - Spiritual Gifts Part 2 of What We Believe, Part 4700:44:11

Rapp Report episode 330

Discussed from What We Believe?

“Therewere two kinds of gifts given totheearly church. Miraculous gifts of divine revelation and healing were given temporarily intheapostolic era forthepurpose of confirmingtheauthenticity oftheapostles’ message (Hebrews 2:3-4;2 Corinthians 12:12). Ministering gifts were given to equip believers for edifying one another. WiththeNew Testament revelation now complete, Scripture becomesthesole test oftheauthenticity of a man’s message, and confirming gifts of a miraculous nature are no longer necessary to validate a man or his message (1 Corinthians 13:8-12). Miraculous gifts can even be counterfeited by Satan to deceive even believers (1 Corinthians 13:13-14:12;Revelation 13:13-14).Theonly gifts in operationtodayare those non-revelatory equipping gifts given for edification (Romans 12:6-8). No one possessesthegift of healingtoday, but God does hear and answertheprayer of faith and will answer in accordance with His own perfect will forthesick, suffering, and afflicted (Luke 18:1-6;John 5:7-9;2 Corinthians 12:6-10;James 5:13-16;1 John 5:14-15).”

26 Feb 2025How to Stop Family Strife for Good: Insights from AMBrewster01:03:56

Andrew Rapoport and Aaron Brewster dive headfirst into the all-too-familiar quagmire of family strife, a topic that, let’s be honest, probably hits home for just about everyone. They kick off the conversation with a cheeky nod to the myth that no one has family issues, only to unravel the layers of conflict that can permeate even the most seemingly perfect households. Brewster introduces his book, *Quit: How to Stop Family Strife for Good*, which serves as a roadmap for navigating and resolving familial tension. The duo explores the nuanced causes of strife, emphasizing that it often stems from a mix of deliberate unbelief, immaturity, and those pesky human tendencies we all grapple with. With a blend of humor and heartfelt wisdom, they aim to equip listeners with practical, biblical solutions to not just alleviate strife, but to foster a more harmonious family environment, reminding everyone that while perfection is off the table, improvement is definitely within reach.

The conversation between Andrew Rapaport and Aaron Brewster dives deep into the often-overlooked topic of family strife, an issue that many might dismiss as non-existent in their own lives. Brewster humorously opens the discussion by suggesting that while everyone else's families might be in chaos, his listeners are likely to consider their own families perfect. This light-hearted banter sets the tone for a more serious exploration of the reality that many families do, in fact, experience some level of conflict, whether they recognize it or not. The discussion touches on Brewster's new book, "Quit: How to Stop Family Strife for Good," where he outlines a practical approach to understanding and alleviating familial tensions. He emphasizes the importance of recognizing the subtle forms of strife that can develop over time, comparing it to a frog slowly boiling in water, unaware of the rising temperature.

Brewster draws on his experience working with at-risk youth to illustrate how strife manifests in various forms within families. He presents a list of nine strife creators identified in Scripture, particularly from the Book of Proverbs, and invites listeners to reflect on their own behaviors and attitudes that may contribute to family discord. He suggests that understanding the underlying causes of strife—such as selfish desires and a lack of spiritual maturity—can empower families to address these issues effectively. The podcast does not shy away from the humbling reality that every family member can play a role in creating strife, and encourages listeners to take a hard look at their own contributions to family dynamics.

As the episode progresses, Andrew and Aaron discuss the importance of discipleship and community support within the church as a means to foster healthier family relationships. Brewster emphasizes that while the goal is to reduce strife, it is essential to acknowledge that complete peace may not be achievable this side of heaven, due to the inherent sinfulness of human nature. However, he assures listeners that there is hope through the teachings found in the Bible and practical steps outlined in his book. The conversation wraps up with encouragement to seek help through biblical counseling and to engage with church communities that prioritize truth and mutual support, ultimately framing the discussion as both a serious examination of familial strife and a pathway to greater spiritual growth and connection.

Takeaways:

  • In the podcast, they humorously acknowledge that while no one has family strife, the reality is that many families do, often because they're unaware of the subtle issues simmering under the surface.
  • Aaron Brewster emphasizes that family strife is often rooted in personal sin and immaturity, suggesting that even small conflicts can lead to larger issues if not addressed.
  • The discussion around the book 'Quit' explores how understanding and identifying strife...
06 Nov 2024The Fiery Trials of Faith: Embracing Persecution with Joy00:56:07

Rapp Report episode 318

This podcast episode focuses on the theme of persecution and how Christians should prepare for it, particularly in light of current societal trends in America. Andrew Rappaport delivers a message derived from 1 Peter 4:12-19, emphasizing the inevitability of fiery trials for believers and the importance of not being surprised by such hardships. He highlights the necessity of maintaining a high view of God to endure suffering, drawing parallels to the experiences of persecuted Christians worldwide. The discussion explores the distinction between righteous suffering for Christ's sake and suffering that arises from personal wrongdoing. Rappaport encourages listeners to embrace their faith boldly, even in the face of potential persecution, and to act as ambassadors for Christ, demonstrating love and resilience amidst adversity.

The episode articulates a compelling message on the inevitable reality of persecution for Christians, as derived from 1 Peter 4:12-19. Andrew Rappaport addresses the listeners with a sense of urgency regarding the current societal shifts that threaten the freedoms enjoyed by the church in America. He posits that the upcoming elections could exacerbate the challenges faced by believers, drawing a stark comparison to the historical persecution faced by early Christians who were often marginalized and targeted for their faith. This backdrop sets the stage for a deeper exploration of what it means to suffer for Christ and how that suffering can be viewed through a lens of joy rather than despair.

Rappaport dives into the theological implications of suffering, urging believers to embrace their trials as a means of sharing in Christ’s sufferings. He discusses the transformative nature of these experiences, suggesting that they can lead to a greater understanding of God’s glory and grace. The sermon is rich with historical references, recounting stories of martyrs who faced persecution with unwavering faith and courage, illustrating that suffering can indeed be a powerful witness to the truth of the Gospel. Moreover, Rappaport makes a salient point about distinguishing between suffering for righteousness and suffering as a consequence of personal wrongdoing, encouraging self-examination among listeners.

As the episode progresses, Rappaport emphasizes the importance of community and love among believers as they navigate these potentially tumultuous times. He calls on Christians to prepare their hearts and minds for the challenges ahead, fostering a spirit of unity and support within the church. The overarching message is one of hope and resilience, reinforcing the idea that while persecution may come, it is not without purpose. By anchoring the discussion in biblical truth, Rappaport inspires listeners to remain steadfast in their faith, to rejoice in their sufferings, and to embody the love of Christ even in the face of adversity.

Takeaways:

  • Expect persecution as Christians; it is a common experience worldwide and may intensify in America soon.
  • Our response to suffering should be rooted in a high view of God, which helps us endure trials.
  • Peter's letters advise Christians to prepare spiritually for persecution and to support one another.
  • Suffering for Christ is distinct from suffering due to personal wrongdoing or poor behavior.
  • Rejoicing in suffering for Christ's sake reflects the joy of sharing in his glory.
  • We must recognize the difference between righteous suffering and deserved punishment, ensuring our actions honor God.

25 Sep 2024Church, the Purpose, Part 6 of What We Believe, Part 4201:05:42

Rapp Report episode 312

The purpose of the church is to glorify God (Ephesians 3:21) by building itself up in the faith (Ephesians 4:13-16), by instruction of the Word (2 Timothy 2:2153:16-17), by fellowship (Acts 2:471 John 1:3), by keeping the ordinances (Luke 22:19Acts 2:38-42), and by advancing and communicating the gospel to the entire world (Matthew 28:19Acts 1:82:42). The local church is a God-centered, Bible-centered ministry that seeks eternal preparation by the exaltation of God, edification and equipping of believers, and evangelization of the world, starting with the local community.

The Bible teaches the calling of all saints to the work of service (1 Corinthians 15:58Ephesians 4:12Revelation 22:12).

16 Apr 2025Social Justice: A Biblical Perspective on Today's Issues00:53:58

Social justice is the hot topic that gets tossed around like a beach ball at a summer picnic, but is it really the fresh concept many claim it to be? This dives into this debate, unraveling how the roots of social justice can be traced way back to Paul's day, showing that the struggle against such ideologies is not a new battle but an age-old one. As they unpack Colossians 2:8, the discussion shifts towards the dangers lurking within the church, warning against the alluring traps of philosophy and empty deception that can ensnare believers. Andrew does not hesitate to point fingers at how contemporary movements, likened to Gnosticism, subtly infiltrate churches, twisting the narrative to fit a human-centric worldview that leaves the truth behind. With clever quips and sharp insights, they emphasize that the real antidote to this captivating error lies not in engaging with these philosophies, but in grounding oneself in the unshakeable truth of Christ.

Takeaways:

  • In discussing social justice, Andrew emphasizes that its roots can be traced back to historical contexts, revealing a long-standing debate that resonates today.
  • Andrew humorously notes that while the sermon may seem light on notes, the depth of the conversation around social justice is anything but superficial.
  • The podcast highlights a warning against the allure of false philosophies that can ensnare believers, urging a steadfast adherence to biblical truths instead.
  • A critical point raised is that social justice, while often framed positively, might lead people astray from the core tenets of faith, posing a danger to spiritual integrity.
  • Andrew provocatively questions whether contemporary discussions around social justice are truly new or merely a reiteration of age-old challenges faced by the church historically.
  • Through witty banter, Andrew illustrates how modern philosophical debates echo ancient ones, particularly the Gnostic belief in superior knowledge, which can still mislead believers today.

05 Mar 2025Unlocking the Bible: A Casual Chat on Deep Faith with Andrew and Cassian00:51:21

The episode dives headfirst into the essential question of how everyday Christians can deepen their understanding of the Bible, particularly for those who may have attended church regularly but have yet to engage deeply with the scripture. Andrew Rapoport, the host, welcomes Cassian Bolino from the Biblically Speaking podcast, who shares her journey from being a "good Christian girl" to someone who craved a more profound relationship with God through His Word. They explore the idea that many believers settle for a surface-level faith, merely checking off boxes instead of truly seeking to know God on a personal level. The conversation cleverly juxtaposes the necessity of studying scripture with relatable anecdotes, illustrating that understanding the Bible isn't just for theologians—it's for everyone looking to cultivate a genuine relationship with the Creator. With a mix of humor and insightful discourse, the episode encourages listeners to ask questions, seek wisdom, and embrace the richness of biblical truths in their daily lives.

Andrew Rapoport, the host of the Rap Report, engages in a thought-provoking conversation with Cassian Bolino, the creator of the Biblically Speaking Podcast. The episode dives deep into the challenge many Christians face: a disconnect between attending church regularly and truly understanding the Bible. Cassian candidly shares her journey from being a good Christian girl to realizing she was missing a profound understanding of her faith. She expresses her early struggles with biblical comprehension, despite diligently attending church and participating in Bible studies. The discussion highlights the importance of not only reading Scripture but also grasping its significance in daily life. Andrew and Cassian tackle the misconception that faith is merely about checking off boxes—attending services or reading verses without truly reflecting on them. They stress that true connection with God comes through a deep, ongoing relationship built by studying the Bible and understanding its context. Cassian's insights into how her curiosity led to her podcast serve as an encouragement for others who might feel lost in their faith journey, emphasizing that seeking knowledge and understanding is not just for theologians but for every believer seeking a genuine relationship with God.

Takeaways:

  • Andrew Rapoport emphasizes that understanding the Bible is crucial for Christians, highlighting how many merely skim the surface without deep engagement.
  • Cassian Bolino, the host of the Biblically Speaking Podcast, shares her journey of growing in faith despite feeling lost in her understanding of Christianity.
  • The podcast stresses the importance of asking questions and seeking wisdom from God, rather than accepting teachings blindly without comprehension.
  • Listeners are encouraged to not only attend church but to actively study the Bible and cultivate a deeper relationship with God through His Word.
  • The discussion reveals that many Christians lack foundational biblical knowledge, leading to susceptibility to misleading doctrines and interpretations.
  • The episode promotes the idea that engaging with different scholarly perspectives can enrich one’s understanding of Scripture and foster a more robust faith.

30 Mar 2018Do not listen b/c Transgenderism defeats Atheism | Rapp Report Weekly 003 | Andrew Rappaport | SFE | Striving for Eternity01:05:25
This week's Rapp Report is one you should not listen to. In this episode, we prove that transgender is an makes the arguments for atheism self-refuting. Chaz Bono says, “There's a gender in your brain and a gender in your body. For 99% of people, those things are in alignment. For transgender people, their mismatch. That's all it is. It's not complicated, it's not a neurosis. It's a mix up. It's a birth defect, like a cleft palate." This quote is an attempt to normalize the definition by providing new terms. When we deal with transgender is and we're dealing with a new definition of terminology in an attempt to normalize something that was previously identified as a mental illness. One transgender remembrance Day poster stated, "34% of trans people attempt suicide.  64% are bullied.  73% of trans people are harassed in public.  21% of trans people avoid going out in public due to fear."  Now even if the statistics are accurate, there is no comparison to the statistics and other groups. Many teenagers attempt suicide, and are believed, and are harassed in public, and avoid going public due to fear.  But should that mean that we should change society to accept those who feel fearful, or should we encourage those who are doing the bullying to refrain?  In fact, what we see in our culture today is that the LGTB community are the ones that bully any who do not celebrate their perversion. We see this argument for celebration in a quote from Andreja Pejic, “We’re human beings, and this is a human life. This is reality for us, and all we ask for is acceptance and validation for what we say that we are.  It is a basic human right."  This statement is a logical fallacy known as begging the question.  It assumes a fundamental human right to prove that it is a basic human right.  Throughout this argument I would challenge someone to ask the question does this apply to the serial rapist or serial murderer?  The serial rapist wants to be left alone and feels that they are born this way.  Should they be celebrated?  Should they be accepted?  Should they be validated?  There is a difference between the way we are born and the responsibility we have to behave in society. As we embark on this discussion, we must remember that we are talking about people and not issues.  These are individuals who are struggling both to fit in with society and themselves.  Most of them are not trying to make some political statement.  However, they do want acceptance from the culture.  Many of them are being caught in the crossfire between those who want to argue for political issues.  As Christians, we need to be more focused on the people who will face a living God as the judge than the issues of the country. Let us begin, with the question of what is transgenderism? Up until recent years, one's gender had been determined by biology, whether they had the chromosomes for male or female. Gender had always been a scientific issue based on anatomy and the chemistry of the chromosomes.  Transgenderism has to do with the way people think or feel their gender is, rather than what their chromosomes or anatomy prove.  Therefore, transgenderism has more to do with the way people feel or identified themselves than the chemical makeup of the body.  Thus this is not about biology but the soul.  This is not about science.  It is about psychology.  If transgenderism is true then we are more than just chemical reactions as atheism argues. We must recognize, that a majority of children who experienced strong feelings that they were born in the wrong gender to have those feelings disappear entirely by adolescents.  Therefore, we should not encourage this sort of thinking and assume that the majority of children will grow out of it. There are many theories about why people have gender dysphoria, whether it be the thought that people have a male brain in a female body where female brains in a male body or the thought that one&...

Dawain gives good advice for leading a wife to a Biblical position. Andrew and Dawain discuss the black churches and reformed theology. They discuss the emotional style of worship from the music to the preaching. Dawain points out that thinking is not encouraged in the Word of Faith movement. the behavior is a learned response. 10 Apr 2018Differences between men and women with Amy Hall | Rapp Report Weekly 005 | Andrew Rappaport | SFE | Striving for Eternity01:12:27
A hotly debated issue within the church is the roles between men and women.  The question asked often, is there a difference between men and women in the church and can women serve in any function or are they limited.  The position known as egalitarianism teaches that women can serve in any role no different than the man.  A competing view of that, and the biblical one is complementarianism.  This is a teaching that God has ordained certain roles only for men within the church and the household.  Our culture would see this as a major problem.  However, we get our instructions as Christians from God and not culture. In this special episode, Andrew speaks with Amy Hall from Stand to Reason.  They will discuss the differences between men and women in the church, home, and culture.  They will also get into a lengthy discussion about sharing the gospel and how we conduct ourselves as Christians in doing so.  If you listen you will learn a lot about Stand to Reason in the ministry that they are doing there.  To learn more about Stand to Reason go to their website www.STR.org. Darrell Harrison and Tom Buck join Andrew Rappaport to talk about the 9 Marks article by Isaac Adams "More Christian than Black or White". The racism issue is a cultural divide but the social justice warriors are destroying the church with this division now. This podcast covers the issues of race in the church by directly interacting with this article. This is a danger to the church and more so to the gospel. The church must be about proclaiming reconciliation with God by the gospel, not social justice.   Resources mentioned: THE PROBLEM IS ENMITY, NOT ETHNICITY JT 23 ‘MLK 50 CONFERENCE’ The B.A.R. 09 Jun 2018Does Hebrews 6 Teach that You Can Lose Your Salvation? | Rapp Report Weekly 0013 | Striving for Eternity01:03:22
So many people argue that Christians can lose their salvation. They often turn to Hebrews 6:4-6 to make their case. However, Does Hebrews 6 teach that one can lose their salvation? We need to start by asking who saved us? It was not us. Philippians teaches that God is both the Author and Finisher of our faith. Therefore, God is the one that saves us not us. If God saves us then only God can revoke that gift and Romans 11:29 states that it is irrevocable. Read the article referred to in the podcast about the question can you lose your salvation  http://strivingforeternity.org/can-you-lose-your-salvation   Also, there is a new contest to win a brand new NASB Preachers Bible. 09 Feb 2022What is Bitcoin?00:56:05
Rapp Report episode 210 Welcome to Andrew Rappaport's Rapp Report, where we provide Biblical interpretation and application. The show is a ministry of Striving for Eternity and the Christian Podcast Community. On today’s episode, host Andrew Rappaport is joined by friend and Pastor Jim Osman of Kootenai Community Church in Idaho. Unlike our usual episodes, we will be in discussion with another podcast from the Christian Podcast Community, Bitcoin and the Bible, to discuss the issues of money, Bitcoin and the church. Join us for part one of this two-part episode!   To begin, the hosts of Bitcoin and the Bible introduce themselves and their show, the heart of which encourages Christians all around the world with the message that God has provided for us. With the great reset underway and the worldly transitions taking place, it is incumbent upon the church to put ourselves in a position to thrive going forward. Dave, Simon and Will are members of Kootenai Community Church.   Most people have no concept or Biblical understanding of currency, why we have it and how we should view it. At the very beginning, God created Adam and Eve and gave them the job of tending to His garden. Thus, work is built into the human condition as a good and noble thing given by God. The fruit of our labor can be traded amongst one another. It didn’t take long for the human population to realize a medium for exchange was needed. Thus, money is a way to facilitate trade and increase the prosperity of a society. Today, Dave explains, money is borrowed into creation and is really just a claim on a debt obligation. We have now found ourselves in a situation in which the debt has spiraled out of control and we are in need of a new monetary system to reset.   In a free market system, mediums of exchange must be divisible and recognizable. The value of currency differs greatly from place to place, depending on the needs of the population. Therefore, money does not have intrinsic value but is dependent on time, society, and circumstance. Money is desired due to its flexibility and allowance of other goods and services from the economy. Some Christians believe that money is inherently evil and vain. However, money is a morally neutral mechanism of storing labor. It is the greed of money that makes it evil. God refers to Abraham, who was rich in cattle, as a righteous man. Thus we are led to believe that He has given us permission to use the money he has allowed us to choose freely in a way that honors and glorifies Him.   The fiat system refers to the present operating system in which the money used is a decree by the government to be used in paying taxes and as the official currency. This money, however, is based solely on debt and is moved in the ether. Already, we are living in a world in which money has been dematerialized and is issued under the promise of its future performance. Bitcoin is likened unto gold in that all of the capital and energy has been invested into it for it to be created.   The concept of cryptocurrency is often a difficult one for people to understand, and Andrew breaks it down in the simplest way possible. Gold is great at storing value over time, while fiat currency is a great medium of exchange over space. Separately, they each have their own fatal flaws. The technological improvement of the fiat standard is the ability to combine the two currencies based on trust. Anyone can look at the situation and determine it is horribly dangerous. There is no interface between the digital and physical worlds. What needed to be done was to design money that exists digitally and also has digital scarcity, which nobody can control. A predefined system with rules but not rulers, which specified its monetary policy in the very beginning, makes it impossible to develop more of the currency and lets everyone monitor, would be a digital system that respects the store value of money. Rather than relying on an auditor,

24 Aug 2022Is the USA Government Targeting Christians?02:01:17
Rapp Report episode 239 National Strategy for Counter-Terrorism Against Christians This July 4th episode looks at counter-terrorism and is not a pleasant one. The government has put out a new document to explain its strategy for countering what they call domestic terrorism. That sounds good. However, when we see how they define a domestic terrorist and how they plan to deal with it, Christians need to pay attention. This is the new government’s goal in counter-terrorism. Andrew and Bud take the time to walk through this strategy and show how it is a tool for Marxism and an attack on Christian in America. This episode is scary for the Christian, but hope is provided at the end. It is a detailed plan to silence any who disagree with their Marxist agenda and call them terrorists by identifying them as white supremacists. This strategy ignores true terrorists and attacks patriots. They do not see the riots of the Black Lives Matter (BLM) as terrorism, but the Trump rally on January 6th is the focus of terrorism. 11 Oct 2020To Mask or Not to Mask the Christian Response01:37:34
Rapp Report episode 140 Follow the Science Dr. Anthony Silvestro joins Andrew and Bud to discuss the topic of masks or face coverings. They talk about the science of wearing a mask and what it protects or not. The size of COVID droplets is much smaller than much of the other masks allow. The science shows that the holes in the mask are 1000 times larger than the COVID virus. In addition, our breath breaks down the mask in 15 minutes. The manufactures of masks have to list things that masks are not to be used for and they discuss that it clearly states that it will not protect against viruses. Is this Political? Why are so many states requiring face coverings? They discuss fear being used to push politics. The mandates are not for people to wear masks but for stores to be required to have a sign that requires masks. Many of the mandates require a not vented mask which is not to protect the person wearing the mask but others supposedly. When is Clean Really Clean? Do the process that stores use to disinfect and clean surfaces work? Dr. Silvestro explains why the method of straying a disinfectant and immediately wiping it off does not kill viruses on a surface. Therefore, the cleaning process does not actually disinfect the surface. Fear, Fear and More Fear The face coverings are being used to drive fear. Unbelievers fear death, but Christians should not fear death. The government has used the mask mandates to make millions of people to live in fear, which makes it easier to control a population of people. The science does not support the use of masks but the politics do. Anthony answers the question, does wearing a mask promote a lie? Does the Bible Have an Answer? There is a biblical perspective that is provided that is discussed. Is wearing a facemask loving your neighbor? Is not wearing a mask disobeying the government as stated in Romans 13? Does Christian liberty have a play in this issue? Churches should open and the men support the actions of John MacArthur. 02 Mar 2022Angels, What We Believe, Part 1300:52:01
Rapp Report episode 213 Angels, what are they? Andrew and Jim Osman continue the What We Believe statement from the Striving for Eternity website series discussing Angels. There is much confusion on this subject because of two factors. The first factor is the little amount of biblical information on the subject. The second factor is the fascination and Hollywood hype on the subject. The What We Believe statement from the Striving for Eternity website discussed is: Angels are created, not eternal, beings (Psalm 148:5); therefore, they are not to be worshiped. Each angel was individually and directly created by God as ministering spirits (Matthew 22:28-30; Hebrews 1:14). They were created before the foundation of the world (Job 38:6-7). Angels, like man, are not eternal but immortal meaning once created, they do not cease to exist. However, unlike man, angels were not created as a race, but a total number (innumerable to man) were created at one time. Men cannot become angels, and angels cannot become men. Angels are distinct from both man and God and will be for all eternity (1 Corinthians 6:3; Hebrews 1:14; 2:6-8; 12:22-24). Angels are similar to man in having a personality but limited in power and abilities. Angels were tested for obedience by a one-time confirmation of holiness or unholiness while man’s confirmation occurs at death. Angels are organized and submissive to that organization (Colossians 1:16; Ephesians 1:21; Jude 9; Revelation 12:7). 16 Feb 2022How Do I Get Started with Bitcoin?00:57:18
Rapp Report episode 211 How to get started with Bitcoin is the topic of this episode. Welcome to Andrew Rappaport's Rapp Report, where we provide Biblical interpretation and application! The show is a ministry of Striving for Eternity and the Christian Podcast Community. In today’s episode, host Andrew Rappaport is joined by friend and Pastor Jim Osman of Kootenai Community Church in Idaho for part two of the conversation on bitcoin started in the last episode!  The hosts of the Bitcoin and the Bible podcast - Dave, Simon, and Will - join us again to discuss bitcoin, focusing today on the practical side of starting to use bitcoin.   Before turning to practical advice, though, Jim asks what will keep bitcoin from inflation or from dropping in value.  Will explains that people continue buying bitcoin because it's a superior form of money, and they will ultimately have the ability to consume all available bitcoin supply.  This dynamic, grounded in the fact that value is subjective and based on market needs, listeners can be assured that the value of bitcoin will not go to 0.  With regard to inflation, Will describes the way that bitcoin operates with a hard cap of 21 million, and how the bitcoin system is designed with a kind of self-regulation because it's in every bitcoin holder's best interest to hold others to the rules of the system.   Turning to some possible concerns and responses to them, the group first considers whether or not the bitcoin cap will pose a problem.  Even when the cap is reached, there will be plenty of bitcoin and sufficient divisibility to ensure global commerce can exist on a digital system.  And while some people are wary of bitcoin's fluctuations in market value, the current fiat system is over-engineered to avoid volatility.  Volatility, however, is a sign of life, and actually provides a reason for us to trust bitcoin!  The change in the bitcoin market is rooted in the fact that the market is free and open, and so at each moment, the dollar price of bitcoin is determined by willing buyers and sellers.  While the primary reason people put their money in banks is to be able to move it digitally, bitcoin facilitates this movement even better than banks; it allows for the transfer of money without bank control and with great speed.   As the conversation progresses, the group considers what bitcoin mining is.  At its most basic level, this mining involves grouping pending transactions into a block and finding the random number to make the block valid.  The process leaves a track of work that demonstrates the history of transactions and is done with a specially purposed computer.  The sort of computer required to mine (an ASIC miner) helps to bolster the security of the process, and some bitcoin users have also elected to study quantum computing, which is expected to protect bitcoin in the more technologically-advanced future.   Dave, Simon, and Will encourage listeners to lean into bitcoin rather than other cryptocurrencies, and the next topic of conversation is the rationale behind this selectivity.  Some cryptocurrencies are trying to be money, and others are not doing so, and in general, money wants to converge on a single best form of money.  At this point, bitcoin is the predominant form of digital money; the choice cycle pushes bitcoin value up and down, and the positioning of bitcoin at the pinnacle of the cryptocurrency world gives it a lot of security.  Other forms of cryptocurrency don't work well because the incentive behind them (the driver of crypto outcomes!) won't work, and some of them are even built of systems that allow the rich and powerful to rewrite the rules.   Now, assuming a person is convinced to give bitcoin a shot, the glaring question still remains: How can someone get set up on bitcoin?  Fortunately, there are great resources (including a Startup Guide and many others on BitcoinandtheBible.com!) to help lead the way, and though there are things to learn,
28 Sep 2022God Doesn’t Whisper Again00:59:21
Rapp Report episode 244 Jim Osman, author of God Doesn't Whisper, to answer the following questions from a listener: "At first, when I listened to this I was upset, like, why shouldn't I expect to hear from God audibly? I had to ask God, please help me keep an open heart and teach me what I need to know, which He did. I still have questions by the way, but at the end of this podcast I can truly say I've learned something fresh. I don't know if I agree with all that was said, but I definitely see what I need to work on in my walk with Christ. I've had to ask myself; is the Word truly sufficient for me? Why exactly do I desire to hear God's voice? I do have a question or two that I need answered, I was disappointed it was not really talked on, or perhaps I missed when it was discussed. Question 1 is, does God speak audibly in this day and age? 2. Is it wrong to desire to hear from God audibly? Even knowing that it is not a compulsory part of the Christian walk and should not be expected, but are you saying 'don't even think about it'? Thank you." 09 Mar 2022Holy Angels, What We Believe, Part 1400:49:33
Rapp Report episode 214 Angels, what are they? Andrew and Jim Osman continue the What We Believe statement from the Striving for Eternity website series discussing Angels. There is much confusion on this subject because of two factors. The first factor is the little amount of biblical information on the subject. The second factor is the fascination and Hollywood hype on the subject. The What We Believe statement from the Striving for Eternity website discussed is: Holy angels are those angels that are confirmed in holiness by a single act of obedience that occurred sometime between Genesis 1:31 and 3:1. Holy angels abode in heaven while still having access to the earth (Mark 13:32; Daniel 9:20-23). These holy angels minister to God and specifically to the incarnate Christ. They also minister to believers, unbelievers and nations. In relation to God, there are angels that worship (Isaiah 6:2-3), praise (Job 38:7; Psalm 103:20), serve (Genesis 19:12-13; Revelation 19:10; 22:8-9), and punish His enemies (2 Kings 19:35; Acts 12:23). While Christ dwelled physically on earth, angels made announcements (Luke 1:26-33; 2:8-14; Matthew 28:6), strengthening Christ (Matthew 4:11) and were present throughout His ministry (Luke 22:43; Acts 1:10). 16 Mar 2022Holy Angels, What We Believe, Part 1500:54:23
Rapp Report episode 215 Angels, what are they? Andrew and Jim Osman continue the What We Believe statement from the Striving for Eternity website series discussing Angels. There is much confusion on this subject because of two factors. The first factor is the little amount of biblical information on the subject. The second factor is the fascination and Hollywood hype on the subject. In relation to believers, they are actively watching over and ministering to individuals and congregations (Genesis 28:12; John 1:51; 1 Kings 19:5; Psalm 91:11; Daniel 6:22; Matthew 4:11; 18:10; Luke 16:22; 1 Corinthians 11:10; 1 Timothy 5:21; Hebrews 1:14). Nowhere does the Bible indicate that there is one angel for each believer. There may even be more than one ministering to anyone believer at a time (Matthew 18:10; Luke 16:22). Their ministry is in urging unto holiness (1 Corinthians 11:10), aiding (Hebrews 1:14), answering prayers (Daniel 9:21; Acts 12:7; Revelation 5:8), observing worship (1 Timothy 5:21; 1 Corinthians 4:9; 11:10; 1 Peter 1:12), rejoicing in salvation (Luke 15; 10), and giving revelation (Acts 7:53; Galatians 3:19; Hebrews 2:2). In relation to unbelievers, these angels will be involved in the future judgment and act as the reapers at the end of the age (Matthew 13:39, 49-50; 25:31-33; Revelation 8-10). In relation to nations, these angels have a special relationship to Israel and will be active in gathering elect Israel in the Millennium (Daniel 10:21; 12:1; Matthew 24:31). 28 Mar 2021Can you lose your salvation?01:05:38
Rapp Report episode 165 Have you ever wrestled with the question, "Can I lose my salvation?" If so, this is one episode that's worth another listen as Andrew and Bud discuss it. The question of whether or not you are "saved" is one that has been debated for centuries. Some believe it is possible to lose your salvation, others do not think so as long as you remain faithful throughout the rest of your life and repent when necessary, while some simply deny such a notion altogether but instead promote eternal security. The first thing to keep in mind is that the Bible never says you can lose your salvation. It does not say it cannot be lost, but rather there are no verses which state this as a possibility for those who have accepted Jesus Christ's sacrifice on their behalf and follow Him faithfully throughout life (and repent when necessary). To understand the answer to the question, one must understand the nature of salvation. In the Bible, salvation is a free gift of God's grace. It cannot be earned or lost but it can only come through faith in Jesus Christ who died on our behalf and rose again for us to have eternal life with Him (John 14:26). This means that we are saved by what He has done not because there was something inherently good about you that made this happen; rather your belief alone saves you from sin as well death itself!   Twelve Tests of Assurance (John MacArthur) Do you enjoy fellowship with Christ and His people? 1 John 1:3 Are you sensitive to sin? 1 John 1:9 Do you hate the world and its evil? 1 John 2:15 Are you obedient to God’s Word? 1 John 2:3 Do you love Jesus Christ with an unusual love? 1 John 3:2 Do you see a decreasing pattern of sin in your life? 1 John 3:5 Do you sacrificially love other Christians? 1 John 3:14 Do you experience answered prayer? 1 John 3:22 Do you experience the inner working of the Holy Spirit? 1 John 3:24, 4:13 Do you discern between spiritual truth and error? 1 John 4 Do you believe Scripture? 1 John 5:1 Have you been attacked, persecuted, for the truth? 04 Apr 2021Protect Yourself in a Digital World00:58:26
Rapp Report episode 166 The Internet is a wonderful place to connect with friends and family, but it's also an easy place for criminals to steal your identity. We live in a digital world and so many people are not aware of the dangers lurking around. There are so many things that can harm you in the digital world, such as computer viruses, email scams, and phishing scams. These things can be harmful to your system or even steal your identity. This is the need to focus on cyber security. Cybercriminals do not care who they hurt or what they destroy as long as it is profitable for them! They target everyone from individuals to businesses to government agencies - anyone with valuable information on their computers. This could be anything from credit card numbers and passwords to corporate secrets and classified data. If the cybercriminal gets this information, he might be able to sell it on the black market where others can use these stolen items against you or worse yet - steal money directly from you by using your identity! It does not matter if you are a big corporation or just an individual at home trying to make ends meet; hackers will go after anyone with something of value on their computers! It only takes one computer virus or email scam to ruin your life. Protect yourself in a digital world with cyber security. The best way to protect yourself is to be aware of the different types of dangers and how they work. Andrew and Bud will discuss computer viruses, email scams, phishing scams, and ransomware on this show today! They will also give you tips on how you can better protect yourself from these threats!   Resources mentioned: Have I been pwned?
