29 Oct 2023 | LEWISTON, MAINE: ENGLISH CONVERSATION AFTER A HORRIBLE TRAGEDY | 00:11:40
Panic in my Neighborhood: Swarms of Sirens Passing By Lewiston, Maine I mean, they're going right by my brother lives up there. They're going past my house. Yeah, something bad. I mean, they're flying. And there's a lot of them. What is going on? This is a probably the craziest channel members video I've ever made. I know you can't see me, but you really don't have to. I'm outside of my house and there are sirens going on. Maybe you can hear them. It's I think it's eight o'clock at night. And my neighbor's dog, I'm I'm in no danger here. Let me just be clear about that. I mean, I'm in very little danger. It's weird, but there are a lot of rumors going on in the town that I live in. I live in a town called Lewiston, Maine. My neighbors, that's just my neighbor with her dog. But let me let me get to the point here. The most sirens I've ever heard in my life, they've been going on for the last half hour. And what I guess has happened in my town, I hope this isn't true. But with social media, everybody's talking. My family is home tonight safe. My daughter is usually out at this time. She's usually at a rehearsal for a play she has coming up a show on stage. And but she's home tonight. But and of course, I'll update you tomorrow or whatever. But it's just a weird time right now because people are saying that there are. Maybe 16 people shot just a couple miles from my house like at the bowling alley. I sometimes go to and. A restaurant just down the street and when I say down the street, maybe two miles, but. Every day I come home, I pass it, so it's pretty close, like from work. So I'll let you know what's going on, but it is kind of crazy because. A lot of car horns going on right now. Yeah, so what was I saying? I don't know why those horns are going on, to be honest. Or maybe people are just locking their cars right now. I think that's what it is. People from inside their house. I'm not I'm not I'm not worried about my safety right now. I wouldn't be out here if I was. But it's a beautiful night. And. I don't know if you can hear it's just crazy. All of the sirens. I don't even know what I said. Did I say some people think that there are. And I'm getting text messages. I need to go pretty soon. My phone is blowing up. But there might be like 16 people shot. I have friends who are nurses and doctors and they're being called into the hospital. So it's just an absolutely crazy situation. And it just makes me think like, did somebody plan this? So I don't know. I don't know. I don't want to scare anybody. This is just going to members and kind of let you in on what's going on in my life. But it's just a crazy night. Crazy night. And so let me sit down here. Some are saying, you know, like. You hear that? I hope you can hear it is just people are just. And who knows, people may be. Going to try to see family members that they think may be hurt or at the hospital. But like I said, a bowling alley. And it's not a restaurant exactly. It is, but they play pool there like billiards. Do you know that game? So I have a feeling I won't be going to sleep anytime soon.
26 Mar 2021 | Ep. 157 LEARNING ENGLISH WITH MOVIES IS MORE FUN! | 00:07:13
In this lesson to help you in improve English, we use Disney/Pixar's movie, Soul to teach you some super helpful terms you can use in your next English conversation. The first term in English we cover is meh. Meh has become very popular in the United States to describe something you really don't care about, something that doesn't really impress you. The next part of the video has a bit of American history. I explain some American folklore about how George Washing could never tell a lie when I might have chopped down a cherry tree. I mention how Harriet Tubman, a conductor on the Underground Railroad, might be replacing our eighth president, Andrew Jackson on the $20. Andrew Jackson was president of the United States during a time called The Trail of Tears. The Trail of Tears is when many Indigenous People of the United States were forced to leave their homes and march halfway across the country to a state called Oklahoma. Many, unfortunately, died along the way. It's a very sad and embarrassing period in American history. A couple other English terms to help you if you are studying English as a second language are "It's my thing" and "Good for you." This video will also be helpful if you are learning English as a second language because I explain a few ways to use the English phrasal verb, "come on," the term "next of kin," and how to use "zip it" in English. 🟨 To become a member and get special videos, join the Discord server, and special member chats, click this link: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCakDTg9dhhAsr3WmHyJDa-g/join 🟪 Follow this link for bonus credits from Italki for online English lessons after your first purchase: https://shareasale.com/r.cfm?b=1355613&u=2346050&m=70611&urllink=&afftrack= 0:00-0:35 Learning English With Movies Is Fun 0:36-1:15 How to use "meh" in English 1:16-2:39 George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Andrew Jackson, and Harriet Tubman 2:40-3:04 Why Harriet Tubman might replace Andrew Jackson on the $20 3:05-3:31 How to use "It's my thing" in English 3:32-4:09 How to use "Good for you" in English 4:10-4:32 A huge thank you to all channel members 4:33-5:37 How to use the term "zip it" in English 5:38-6:22 What does "next of kin" mean in English 6:23-7:14 How to use the English phrasal verb, "Come on"

Thankfully, he only tweaked it. If you stick around until the end, I explain how learning Latin and Greek roots can increase your comprehension and give common words with the root, para.

23 Apr 2021 | Ep. 165 😡 TOP 10 OTHER WAYS TO SAY "I'M ANGRY" IN ENGLISH | 00:13:10
🟥 Link the the original video lesson: https://youtu.be/vJtnHPnAqOI Here are the top 10 other ways to say "I'm Angry" in English along with the top 10 things that might make us made. In this English lesson I explain how you can be irritated, bothered or it can bug you if you're mad. You can also say your blood is boiling if you're angry. It might drive you crazy. You might throw a hissy fit. These are all handy ways to express yourself if you're learning English. You can say it ticks you off, or you might want to jump down someone's throat. You might also hit the roof. If you're learning how to speak English, another way to say that you're mad is that you might flip out, or you could blow a fuse, or blow a gasket, or simply blow up. Some things that might make us mad if we're learning how to speak better English is when people chew their food loudly or if you stub your toe. What about crying babies when you go out to eat for a date night or get seated on a plane? Another thing that really makes me want to tear someone a new one is when people leave trash out in beautiful nature. It really makes me hit the roof when someone spoils an episode of a TV show that I'm watching or a movie that I haven't seen yet. Sometimes, I lose it when I'm behind slow drivers or I hit every red light when I'm late. 🟨 To become a member and get special videos, join the Discord server, and special member chats, click this link: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCakDTg9dhhAsr3WmHyJDa-g/join 🟪 Here is the free PDF for MIKE'S STORY Chapter 1 https://drive.google.com/file/d/1euH1SaEdN4J6N1GLpV-jGX_ULx08WliK/view?usp=sharing 🟧 Follow this link for bonus credits from Italki for online English lessons after your first purchase: https://shareasale.com/r.cfm?b=1355613&u=2346050&m=70611&urllink=&afftrack= 🟩 My Other English Learning Channel: https://www.youtube.com/americanenglishguytoo 🟥 Here is the English Teacher Challenge I did while walking to my mom's house: https://youtu.be/xW1jUcfpSXA

It is a thin slice of veal (a type of meat from young cows) that is coated in breadcrumbs and then fried until it is golden brown. The name "Wienerschnitzel" actually means "Vienna cutlet" in German, because it originated in Vienna, the capital city of Austria. The history of Wienerschnitzel goes back to the 19th century. Although similar dishes were found in other countries, it became especially popular in Austria and Germany. The dish is not only famous for its delicious taste but also for being a part of Austrian culture and tradition. In simple terms, think of Wienerschnitzel as a special kind of thin, breaded, and fried meat that comes from Austria and has a long history of being enjoyed by many people. It's like a special treat that combines simple ingredients to create something tasty and crispy. Wings, often called chicken wings, are a popular food in many parts of the world, especially in the United States. They are made from the wing part of a chicken and can be cooked in different ways. The most common method is frying them until they are crispy and then coating them with a sauce. This sauce can be spicy, sweet, or a mix of both. The history of chicken wings being eaten as a tasty snack starts around the 1960s in Buffalo, New York, which is why one of the most famous ways to prepare wings is called "Buffalo wings." A restaurant owner named Teressa Bellissimo cooked leftover wings in hot sauce as a late-night snack for her son and his friends. They loved it so much that it soon became a regular item on the restaurant's menu. Now, wings are loved by many people and are often eaten during gatherings, sports events, or as a fun meal with friends and family. They are celebrated for their crunchy skin, tender meat, and the various delicious sauces they can be paired with.

Just when things seem quiet, the scene takes an unexpected turn when two mischievous kids decide to test their aim by chucking rocks at a nearby sign, only to find themselves halted by the arrival of the police. In this English lesson, I explain how to use the phrasal verbs, "chew out" and "miss out" as simply as possible. I also have to watch out for the plow that is trying to clear the street that I'm walking on because I'm trying to teach during a snowstorm. Because "tongue lashing" is closely related to "chew out," I also explain that English idiom. 🇺🇸 🇬🇧 Follow this link for bonus credits from Italki for online English lessons after your first purchase: https://shareasale.com/r.cfm?b=1355613&u=2346050&m=70611&urllink=&afftrack= 🔷 To become a member, here’s the link: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCakDTg9dhhAsr3WmHyJDa-g/join 🔷 Follow me on Instagram for mini-mini lessons: https://www.instagram.com/americanenglishwiththisguy/ 🔷 To save 35% off a year subscription at LingQ: https://www.lingq.com/en/americanenglish/

15 Oct 2023 | SPEAK ENGLISH MORE CONFIDENTLY USING PHRASAL VERBS | 00:03:03
🟨 To become a member and get special videos, join the Discord server, and special member chats, click this link: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCakDTg9dhhAsr3WmHyJDa-g/join If you have been studying English for any length of time, you know that English phrasal verbs are really tough. So in today's English lesson, we are going to take one of those English phrasal verbs, take back, and talk about all of the ways they are used in English. I'm pretty sure there are nine ways we use take back in English. Maybe we don't use take back nine different ways in English, but it's a lot. Six, five, how about this? It's too many. My hope is after watching this English lesson, you will feel more comfortable using English phrasal verbs in your next English conversation. I think I just said English 50 times in that sentence. The first way we use take back in English is when you receive something. Maybe you receive a gift, maybe you borrow something. In the United States, we have libraries where you can borrow a book, but you need to take it back within two weeks. A couple of weeks ago, my brother let me borrow a giant fan. I really need to take that fan back to him. I need to take that fan back. Maybe you purchase an item at the store, and for some reason, it doesn't work. Maybe the shirt is too small. Maybe your phone is broken. You can take it back to the store, and hopefully you will get your money back. We sometimes use take back when we speak. Maybe you say the wrong thing. Hey, I have an appointment on Wednesday. Wait, I take that back. It's on Tuesday. Little kids in the United States will sometimes say take that back when somebody says something mean to them. Hey, you are a jerk. No, I'm not. Take that back. In a recent live lesson I did about emotions, I talked about nostalgia. Some people have nostalgia when they look at old photos. It takes them back to a time period in their life. Maybe it takes them back one year. Maybe it takes them back five years. Maybe it takes them back even more than that. If you're old like me, it could take you back to about 48 years. This is an old school kind of English lesson. It takes me back to when I first started this channel. I had a little more hair back then, I think. Before we go too much further, if you are enjoying this English lesson, could you please hit the like button? And if this is your first time here, please subscribe so you never miss an English lesson. We also use take back when we talk about transportation. Maybe you are going to a party with your friend and they are driving you. But on the way to the party, maybe you start feeling bad. Maybe you are starting to get sick. You could say to your friend, hey, can you take me back to my house? I'm not feeling that well. I hope you now feel a little more confident when you are using English phrasal verbs in your next conversation. If you're looking for more English, there's that lesson I did about how to talk about emotions in English. Thanks so much for watching. See you next time.

21 Nov 2023 | 💰 SPEAK ENGLISH AT AN AMERICAN GARAGE SALE | 00:09:16
The goal of today's English lesson is to help you feel more comfortable when you're speaking English. To help you do that, we are going to visit an American garage sale. 🟨 To become a member and get special videos, join the Discord server, and special member chats, click this link: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCakDTg9dhhAsr3WmHyJDa-g/join The first thing we should talk about is what is a garage sale? You might also hear rummage sale, lawn sale, yard sale, garage sale. We have a bunch of names for it. But basically what that means is somebody has a lot of stuff they want to get rid of, so they put it outside of their house, they advertise it maybe in a newspaper, and other people come to buy the stuff that these people don't want. We'll talk to the homeowner, Christy, in just a little bit. But let's take a look at some of the items you could buy at a garage sale. Let's talk about the verb rummage. A lot of Americans have something called a junk drawer. That's just probably a place in the kitchen, a drawer, where they put a bunch of stuff, odds and ends. And if you rummage through that, that means you are looking for something, and you might have to move other items as you rummage. Garage, you probably know that term. Across the street, right there, that person has a garage. A lot of times you can store a car in the garage, but a lot of Americans just keep buying stuff, and they don't have room in their garage for a car. Now, this is grass, but you could also call it a lawn or a front lawn. Or maybe like a front yard. That's where we get all of those terms. Rummage sale, yard sale, lawn sale, garage sale. Let's talk about some of these items that are for sale. I don't know. I don't... Actually, I don't think this is for sale. I think this is... Yeah, that looks like somebody's using that. I don't think we can buy that. But maybe we could buy this dresser. We'd probably call this a dresser. Maybe a bureau. We would definitely call these board games. They look like they're on a blue tarp. Oh, this thing, Pie Face. This was super popular a couple years ago. To play Pie Face, you ask a bunch of questions, and I think if you get it wrong, you get a pie in the face. That could be fun. That could be messy. Let's talk about the verb outgrow. Here, there are a lot of clothes for sale. And it probably means that the children in this house are too big for these clothes now. They've outgrown them. They're selling them for pretty cheap. Two bucks for a pair of jeans?

12 Oct 2020 | EPISODE 118 DO AMERICANS CELEBRATE COLUMBUS DAY OR INDIGENOUS PEOPLES' DAY? | ENGLISH LESSON | 00:09:05
In this English lesson, I explain how Americans celebrate Columbus Day or Indigenous Peoples’ Day. In recent years, the name of this three day weekend or long weekend has become pretty controversial. Some Americans believe that Christopher Columbus is a great man of history and should be celebrated. Other Americans believe that the people who were here before Christopher Columbus “discovered America” or arrived in America should be the ones remembered or celebrated during this second weekend in October. Some English vocabulary words I explain are: “air quotes,” indigenous, long weekend, three day weekend, and British holiday vs, American holiday. I would love to hear your comments about what you think this weekend should be called in the United States.

In today's English lesson, we are going to visit my brother's backyard. And in his backyard, he has tons of wood. Because during the winter, he heats his house with wood. So today, we are going to find out all the ways he has to prepare for winter. Alright, this is my brother Ben. And like I said, he heats his house with wood. But, starting in the summer, he has got to get ready for that somehow. So Ben, do you mind taking us through the process of what you have to do to get your house ready for the winter? Sure, we absolutely can do that. It starts with log form wood. Then we cut it to size. Then we use a splitter to split it. We put it in the trailer. Then we stack it and let it dry out. How long does it take for your wood to dry out? Different species are different times. But usually, you cut it and split it in the spring. It is ready for winter. Oh really? And okay, so what happens if the wood is wet in the winter? It just takes too much energy to burn. So you lose BTUs. So it won't heat as well. It will smoke. It will smell. Just not fun. And BTUs, what does that stand for? British Thermal Units. And the higher the number, the better it burns? The hotter it burns. And so, the higher the better for you? Yes. So, let's see, what is it? Is that a maple tree right there? Yes, it is. So, when it comes to maple trees, do they burn well or not so well? They burn very well. There are quite a few different species of maple. There is some softer maple. And there is some harder maple. But that is a good wood. It dries fast. Burns nice. And the harder, the better for maple? Correct. And behind us, I think I already know the answer to this. This is a pine tree. Now, I think, and I don't know much about wood, but I think those things pretty much suck to burn, right? Well, in Maine, we are lucky because we do have hardwoods. The more north you go, obviously, you only have softwoods. Spruce, firs, pines. You won't see maples. You won't see oaks in the north. So, many people burn softwood. Is pine soft? It is, correct. Now, does the sap in a pine tree affect the burning at all? If you don't let a pine dry, you tend to get chimney fires. The creosote builds up in the chimney, and it could create a fire. Which could burn your house down? Possibly. So, you definitely have to dry your pine out if you're going to use it. Any wood, really. Any wood will produce creosote, but pine or any softwood creates a bit more if it's not dried.

24 Jun 2022 | 🇺🇸 AMERICAN ENGLISH TEACHER ANSWERS ITALIAN STUDENTS 🇮🇹 | 00:08:53
In this English lesson to help you improve your English, I respond to some questions and comments left by 8th grade Italian students that their teacher, Pietro, left in response to the English lesson about the American Prom. You will also learn how to use grass clippings and chain link fence in your next English conversation. The English lesson was filmed right outside of my school on the last day before summer vacation. Since I am on summer vacation for the next couple months, I hope to have even more English lessons for you. 🟨 To become a member and get special videos, join the Discord server, and special member chats, click this link: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCakDTg9dhhAsr3WmHyJDa-g/join 🟧 Follow this link for bonus credits from ITALKI for online English lessons after your first purchase: https://shareasale.com/r.cfm?b=1355613&u=2346050&m=70611&urllink=&afftrack= AFFILIATE LINKS FOR AMAZON https://www.amazon.com/shop/americanenglishwiththisguy📘SHORT STORIES FOR BEGINNERS TO IMPROVE YOUR ENGLISH: https://amzn.to/3wMP6B4🔥TO FIND THE LITTLE STOVE I USED IN THE CEMETERY: https://amzn.to/3kogjHW🍲 HERE'S A LINK TO THE FREEZE DRIED MEAL I ATE AT THE CEMETERY: https://amzn.to/36BDEh0 🎥 THE CAMERA I USED FOR THE BRIDGE JUMP: https://amzn.to/3yZC2da🎤 THE MICROPHONE I USE FOR LIVESTREAMS: https://amzn.to/3BlxVds🦟 LINK TO GET RID OF THE BUGS: https://amzn.to/3wNHe2h🧊 MY CAR FAN: https://amzn.to/3zoW7dh📲 MY CAR PHONE MOUNT: https://amzn.to/3xTDNII📱 THE PHONE I USE TO RECORD B-ROLL: https://amzn.to/3Bc1UVf🥄THE SPOON AND FORK SET https://amzn.to/3kwMXqM🫐THE QUICK GRANOLA FROM MAINE: https://amzn.to/2UZNBlI👁️ 1984 by George Orwell: https://amzn.to/3zX319z🔌 THE GREEN MILE by Stephen King https://amzn.to/3yhLxEJ🚶 THE LONG WALK by Stephen King https://amzn.to/3A078li*As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. 🎤 The whole Elon Musk interview: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cdZZpaB2kDM&t=2084s 🟩 Here is the 24 Hour Overnight at McDonald's Lesson: https://youtu.be/myVzQEPYA7s 🇺🇸 WANT TO KNOW MORE ABOUT THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA? 16 Aug 2022 | Advanced English Words For Your Next Conversation | 00:08:53
One thing that makes speaking English so difficult to master if English is not your native language is that English has so many different meanings for the same word. In this English lesson, you will learn six different ways we use a very simple English word like stall for your next conversation. Native English speakers might use stall in a public locker room. They might use stall in a couple different ways when talking about a car or traffic. And of course, stall might even be used when talking about food in English. 🟨 To become a member and get special videos, join the Discord server, and special member chats, click this link: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCakDTg9dhhAsr3WmHyJDa-g/join 🟧 Follow this link for bonus credits from ITALKI for online English lessons after your first purchase: https://shareasale.com/r.cfm?b=1355613&u=2346050&m=70611&urllink=&afftrack= 🇺🇸 American Holidays Playlist: https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLZJxW7kBsjp9lJL0n0kX3Q3u3oC9ij9gK 👕 Want an English T-Shirt or water bottle? https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCakDTg9dhhAsr3WmHyJDa-g/store AFFILIATE LINKS FOR AMAZON https://www.amazon.com/shop/americanenglishwiththisguy📘SHORT STORIES FOR BEGINNERS TO IMPROVE YOUR ENGLISH: https://amzn.to/3wMP6B4🔥TO FIND THE LITTLE STOVE I USED IN THE CEMETERY: https://amzn.to/3kogjHW🍲 HERE'S A LINK TO THE FREEZE DRIED MEAL I ATE AT THE CEMETERY: https://amzn.to/36BDEh0 🎥 THE CAMERA I USED FOR THE BRIDGE JUMP: https://amzn.to/3yZC2da🎤 THE MICROPHONE I USE FOR LIVESTREAMS: https://amzn.to/3BlxVds🦟 LINK TO GET RID OF THE BUGS: https://amzn.to/3wNHe2h🧊 MY CAR FAN: https://amzn.to/3zoW7dh📲 MY CAR PHONE MOUNT: https://amzn.to/3xTDNII📱 THE PHONE I USE TO RECORD B-ROLL: https://amzn.to/3Bc1UVf🥄THE SPOON AND FORK SET https://amzn.to/3kwMXqM🫐THE QUICK GRANOLA FROM MAINE: https://amzn.to/2UZNBlI👁️ 1984 by George Orwell: https://amzn.to/3zX319z🔌 THE GREEN MILE by Stephen King https://amzn.to/3yhLxEJ🚶 THE LONG WALK by Stephen King https://amzn.to/3A078li*As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. |
