19 Jul 2024 | Nana's Question | 00:17:47
Helen has received a note from Jennifer, her neighbour who lives in the flat across the corridor with her husband Harry, and her 103 year old grandmother Nana Madeleine. Helen and Madeleine have always enjoyed sharing their thoughts on life, death, mortality and immortality without fear or favour. And this time is no exception, although with a heightened sense of immediacy. Nana Madeleine tries to sleep, but someone needs to speak to her, and the result is - much laughter. Don't forget to stick around for the Epilogue.

08 Aug 2024 | Never Mind Wally! Where's Helen? | 00:17:02
Helen has gone missing, so daughter Janey and granddaughter Susie team up to track her down. This episode is an experiment, in that it takes the form of a series of telephone calls. A bit like the old 'epistolatory' genre, only using message bank rather than the post office. Let me know if you think it works - drop your response at https://amIoldyet.com/reviews - just a few words would be great.
Helen, Janey, Susie and Jennifer are all played by me, Flloyd Kennedy.
The music is from John T La Barbera's album, "In the Labyrinth" and the tracks are:

15 Aug 2024 | Interruption to Service | 00:09:40
Special Announcement: Please excuse this break in transmission - Episode 6 was going to take us to Greece, where Helen is enjoying the scenery and the sunshine. But in view of the terrible tragedy of the wildfires presently affecting large parts of Greece, including Athens itself, I'd decided to postpone that episode till next week. In the meantime, here is news regarding the development of the new podcast, "Baked Off!" which I hope to be able to bring to you later this year.

21 Mar 2025 | Who's the Radical Here? | 00:18:34
Helen attended the 'gathering' Susie invited her to, where she met up with the mother of Kiara, the charismatic climate change evangelist. They've taken Susie off to the nearest cafe to enjoy something to drink and a heart to heart. With special guest voice actor Lushika Preetrajh as Preshanni and Mrs Patel.
Now, you may have noticed that these episodes are arriving at roughly fortnightly intervals these days. That’s because I’m also busy editing the new podcast, Baked Off! Which is a much bigger production than Am I Old Yet? I’ve been trying to raise some funds to pay for a dialogue editor to help me with it, but we still have some way to go. If you’d like to help out, there are a range of perks to be enjoyed, from early access to the episodes to mugs, stickers and aprons, and even a brand new cookbook. The website is crowdfundr.com/bakedoffthepodcast. I’m halfway through editing Episode 4, with only another 4 to go. And it will happen a whole lot faster if I don’t have to do it all myself!

18 Mar 2022 | And today's challenge is... | 00:14:33
Episode 10. Helen's elder sister, Marian, has dementia, but she still manages to phone up from Rockhampton in Australia for a chat. Helen has a problem with the memoir she was commissioned to write, but which she really doesn't want to have published, although she can't explain why. And Harry next door struggles to accept that he's too frail to climb ladders any more. Ah me, as the poet George Melling says "Don't get old. It puts years on you!"
Cast: Flloyd Kennedy as - Helen, Marian, Janey.

31 Mar 2022 | Bringing Up Gran | 00:14:14
Episode 12, bring Season 3 to a close. Susie has been delegated to try to find out why Helen, her grandmother, is so unhappy. It's obvious Helen doesn't want her memoir to be published, but no one can understand why, and her family are very worried about her. It seems an over-anxious daughter is nothing compared to an over-anxious mother.
cast: Flloyd Kennedy as Susie and Helen.

Episode 1 of Season 4 kicks off with Helen calling up her daughter Janey for help. This doesn't happen often, so it must be something very serious. She is about to celebrate her 78th birthday, so it's possible she's also about to get the answer to the question, i.e. is she old yet?

30 Jun 2022 | Lost & Found | 00:20:32
Well, here it is. Episode 12, the final one for Season 4. It's a bit longer than usual, but if you don't need the introduction, start at around 1 min 16 seconds. It concerns Helen's 103 year old neighbour, Nana Madeleine, and something that was lost many, many years ago. All the voices are played by me.
I'm now taking a break for a few weeks to write up Season 5, help out with my new grandson, and take a holiday with the American branch of my family. In Europe. Hopefully.
See you on the other side. Meantime, I still need your support if this is to go on for much longer. Reviews and comments are most welcome, via your podcast app, or on the website https://amIoldyet.com/reviews. As are any donations you are able to contribute towards the running costs of the podcast. Why not jump right in and become a regular subscriber at www.Patreon.com/amIoldyet? Well, Helen certainly does. Here she is, taking no prisoners when the dental receptionist seems to question her ability to keep up with modern technology. The podcast Helen is following "Somewhere On Earth Podcast" is an actual podcast (just like this one) only it focuses on developments in modern technology, and how they affect communities literally all over the world. And here is the link to find it. https://somewhereonearth.buzzsprout.com/. I love it, so of course Helen does too!
The music is from "In the Labyrinth", composed and performed by John T LaBarbera.
Season 9 of "Am I Old Yet" has now been written, and recording is due to start next week. It will take at least a couple of weeks to get the first episodes designed and edited, but believe me, it won't be long now!

25 Apr 2024 | About the New Podcast | 00:05:10
So new, that I haven't finished writing it yet. But I'm excited enough to want to share with you something about it. Once I've finished writing, there will be a full cast readthrough, then recording and all the production work begins. But in the meantime, there will be the odd glimpse into whatever Helen is getting up to, in preparation for Season 10. If you have clicked on 'subscribe' or 'follow' in your podcasting app, you'll be notified whenever there's something new to listen to. And if you invite just one other person to listen to "Am I Old Yet? " - well, it would help to keep it going.

05 May 2024 | About the Voice and other Thoughts | 00:19:36
A glorious spring day, plus the need to keep moving, so I took my phone for a walk and recorded some thoughts. High on my agenda at the moment is the need to keep promoting "Am I Old Yet?", the will to start recording "Baked Off!" and the long held desire to raise the profile of the human voice—what it is, what it means, and what we stand to lose if we fail to respect it. Also, stick around till the end and you'll be introduced to a marvellous podcast, "The Final Say", with Debra Jarvis, available at https://thefinalsaypodcast.com.
