From gay geese and bisexual bison to lesbian elephant love affairs and all-male, all-whale orgies, expressions of same-sex action in the natural world are all around us. Synopsis: Owen, Laine and a 200 year-old gay tortoise explore the history of scientific research into gay animals. From gay swans to self-pleasuring elephants and amorous giraffes, they learn how scientists have been understanding and misunderstanding queerness in nature for centuries. And they introduce us to a bold researcher in the 1990’s who helped us see nature for what it is – queer as fuck.

Synopsis: In search of a face-to-snout meeting with real Gay Animals, Laine travels to the Humble Pig Animal Sanctuary, where they meet a crew of runaway dogs, feral chickens and escapees from a pig farm. There they learn what a new environment can do for an animal’s sexuality. Then, Owen and Laine speak with Dr. Laurel Braitman about how zoos and natural history museums tell us a much straighter story about animals than the animals themselves.

Synopsis: On the steps of New York’s Natural History Museum, Owen and Laine meet Eliot Schrefer, author of Queer Ducks (and Other Animals), a book Eliot wrote to tell young gay humans that they are not alone in their Queerness. Predictably, the book faced backlash and banishment from schools and libraries. Owen and Laine then turn their binoculars across the pond to hear the story of how the Irish people rallied together to save the life of a little gay bull named Benjy.
