Do you live in a place of fear or a place of love?

All love flows from self-love but sometimes fear gets in the way. Living from the high vibration of love means your thoughts, feelings and actions originate from a place of love but when you’re living from a place of fear, and all of the negative emotions attached to it, you are vibrating at your lowest vibration.

Have you been feeling lost in what you want to accomplish? One way to begin to start your focus, especially as the new year is here, is to set a one word intention. Maybe it is something that you feel is missing in your life or it is something you want to improve. Setting an intention gives clarity and purpose however there is a process in doing so to ensure you can achieve it.

In this episode, you will learn the 6 steps I use to create a one word intention.

1-Pay Attention: What does your heart long for? What is your deepest desire? How do you really want to feel this year?

2-Be Clear, to shift your life from where you are NOW to where you want to BE

3-Keep your word Simple, your word is your anchor, WRITE IT DOWN

4-Keep it Positive

5-Ask yourself How much do you really want it? Answer on a scale of 1-10, where 1 is not at all, and 10 is more than anything

6 - Commit to the Patience and Courage that this will require.

From our very first step, our parents cheered us on celebrating our wins to help us feel proud and successful. As a parent, I was taught it was good to build my children’s self-esteem. I thought it was helping them grow and believe in themselves but what happens when they don’t succeed because failure is a part of life? What happens then? 

Teaching ourselves and our children to practice self-compassion creates longer-lasting results for resiliency, peace and joy. 

Learn the 5 differences between growing your self-esteem muscle versus your self-compassion muscle and why self-compassion comes out as the winner. 

I love this quote by Kristin Neff, Ph. D. “The motivation of self-compassion arises from love, while the motivation of self-criticism arises from fear. Love is more powerful than fear.”

Sanjeewa began his training in 1993 working with Dr. Pilapitia, the head of the Government Ayurveda Department in Sri Lanka. For the next 2-3 years he studied marma points and ancient massage techniques with Sri Lankan monks. Then, Dr. Hulangamuwa, a famous ayurvedic doctor, took him as a private student and taught him Ayurvedic Medicine, Theory and Philosophy for 2 years. Sanjeewa has also trained and built up Ayurveda departments in some of the most famous hotels in Sri Lanka. His local clients include the high society of Sri Lanka and he personally trains his own staff at his two resorts, the Sign and Spirit of Life, in Sri Lanka.

Experience inner peace and emotional freedom by letting go of what no longer serves you. 

During this meditation, you will:

  • Hear a story by Thich Nhat Hanh about releasing attachments and expectations, guiding you to practice non-attachment for true contentment and inner peace.
  • Enter stillness to identify one attachment or idea (a "cow") that may not be necessary for your genuine happiness.
  • Notice where you feel the attachment in your body and set the intention to let it go, cultivating inner freedom.
  • Utilize two breath-synced mantras: "Breathing in, I observe letting go. Breathing out, I observe letting go," or "Let" on the inhale and "Go" on the exhale to release the grip of attachment.

Hello and welcome! So glad you're here, whether you're a returning listener or a new one.

Have you ever felt like your emotions are just too big to handle, or that you get overwhelmed by negative or busy environments? Maybe you're someone who's always been told that you're "too sensitive." If that's the case, then this episode is for you.

Today, we're talking about highly sensitive people, or HSPs, and how being one can be both a strength and a weakness. On the one hand, HSPs are incredibly in tune with the world around them, able to pick up on subtle cues and emotions that others might miss. They have big, open hearts, and are often the ones who are there to support and care for others.

But on the other hand, being an HSP can also leave you feeling drained and depleted, in need of some peace and quiet to recharge. In today's fast-paced and often overwhelming world, it's more important than ever to learn how to take care of ourselves as HSPs.

That's why we'll be discussing the benefits of being highly sensitive, as well as some self-care practices that can help us cleanse and recharge. So if you're an HSP, or if you know someone who is, stick around and learn how to thrive in a world that can sometimes feel like too much to handle.

21 Feb 2023Breathe for Balance, Energy or Calm | S1E01000:14:51

Changing the rate of your breathing is the fastest way to support your nervous system response.  

3 Breathing Practices

1. Balancing your breath is always safe and healthy. If you’re feeling up, it will bring you down and if you’re feeling low it will bring you up.

Practice water breath by:

•   Inhaling through your nose for 1-2-3-4

•  Exhaling through your nose for 4-3-2-1

•  Repeat up to 10 times 

2. Up-regulating your breath stimulates your sympathetic nervous system to give you more energy and must be practiced with caution. Never practice while driving.

Practice coffee breath by:

•    Draw the belly back sharply on the exhale 10 X allowing a partial inhale to happen naturally

•   Repeat 3 times with rests in between

3. Slowing down your breathing triggers a parasympathetic, rest and digest, nervous system response allowing you to feel calmer. Never practice while driving.  

Practice whiskey breath by:

•   Inhaling through your nose for 1-2-3-4

•   Exhaling through your nose for 8 to 6 breaths

•  Repeat until you feel relaxed

  1. Mindfulness: When faced with an embarrassing situation, bring your attention to the sensations in your body and the thoughts and emotions that arise. Notice any self-critical or negative thoughts that may be surfacing.
  2. Common Humanity: Recognize that embarrassment is a universal human experience. Remind yourself that everyone makes mistakes and encounters awkward moments at times.
  3. Self-Kindness: Respond to embarrassing situations with self-kindness and self-care. Treat yourself as you would a close friend who is going through a difficult moment.
