In this episode of Patriarchy Principles, host Jay and guest Erin discuss the concept of 'soul sickness' affecting families and society. They explore the importance of raising children with strong moral values, the necessity of truth in parenting, and the impact of societal norms on children's development. The conversation delves into the role of God in society, the dangers of conformity, and the need for honest discussions about identity and gender. They emphasize the importance of allowing children to be kids and the consequences of fear-mongering in modern parenting. In this engaging conversation, Jey and Erin discuss various societal issues, including crime trends, the evolution of family dynamics, the impact of education, the importance of spirituality, and the need for political discourse and unity. They emphasize the significance of community action and the role of prayer in navigating the complexities of modern life. 15 Dec 202221: Communication Tips and Tricks, "Young" Parents, 00:53:09

We made it to Episode 10! This episode is a massive milestone for us as of an April 2021 study. "According to Amplifi and Podnews, 44% of the podcasts have less than three episodes! Only 720k podcasts have more than ten episodes. While the remaining 720K, 90% will quit after 20." We aren't quitting, and we love being here with you! Thanks for choosing to listen to us!

Today on the Pod, the brothers do some fun Holiday, would you rather,  and Jey squeezes in a few "holi-dad" jokes throughout the episode. Don't worry; you don't have to laugh. The live studio audience that isn't paid does laugh for some reason.

Next, the brothers get how hard it can be to communicate with your partner, kids, friends and family, and extended family this year; listen as they give some tips and tricks on the subject.

The episode got even better as they talked about the wild and crazy ride of being the "young" parents of the group has been for them. Jey was 22 when he had his first kid, and Aaron was 19, almost 20. Spoiler: neither of them would change a thing.

Lastly, they end with light-hearted situations, from talking to a mannequin to telling someone they're a problem. Make sure you comment and tell us what you would do in each situation.

Don't forget their invite to you: spread some love, cheer, and help someone in need this season. Put one can of food in the bin at the store, grab a $5 toy and donate it, pick a name off the giving tree and give, or whatever you can do to do it.

Amber Davies shares her story of becoming a parent at the age of 17 and the challenges she faced as a young mother. She talks about the sacrifices she had to make and the difficulties of balancing work, school, and raising her son. Amber also discusses the importance of finding a career that aligns with your passions and strengths, as well as the value of taking assessments to understand your working genius. They had two children, Joe and Cash, who are 11 years apart. Joe took on a protective role as a big brother to Cash. Amy also had a child around the same time as Cash, and their families remain close. In this conversation, Amber and Jey discuss the challenges and strengths of living with ADHD. They talk about the ability to multitask and engage in multiple forms of stimulation, as well as the importance of finding coping mechanisms and creating routines. They also discuss the impact of ADHD on relationships, including the need for understanding and support from partners. 01 Mar 202333: Everyday Kid Issues01:02:13

Welcome one, welcome all, welcome to the Young Dad Podcast; we have a fantastic show for you today. The brothers today jump into some of the everyday issues that our kids and yours face.

Our kids are under tremendous pressure in school and every day of their lives. Our kids face stress in passing classes and confronting bullies. Being homesick, comparison, peer pressure, making friends, failure, bad teachers, competition, and so much more. What's crazy is that most of the brother's kids they talk about are in Kindergarten and 1st grade and face these stressful issues daily.

There is so much we can do to help our kids, but most of all, be present and show up when they need you. Teach them to be grateful, kind, compassionate, and empathetic humans who are for their peers on a human level. Support your kids all you can, and however, you can, with pure love and the best intentions.

Enjoy the show!

08 Feb 202329: You are Enough- Brig Berthold01:33:07

Yes, yes, you are enough. I promise. This week, we, unfortunately, weren't joined by A-A-Ron. However, that did not stop Jey from bringing on Little Brigy Blue Eyes, aka Brig from Baseball 2gether and creator of 9+us.

Brig and Jey opened the show with a spirited two-way debate about Gorillas, body parts for money, and living forever. You will want to take advantage of this intro.

Lastly, Jey and Brig hung out and talked before, as these two couldn't stop, and who could blame this? This conversation they had was seriously awesome.

Brig took us through his journey of growing up with privilege (which he checked, as we all should), military, injury, pregnancy, his wife's cancer, and eventual passing that left him a widower, his addiction, and his recovery and how that has all impacted him and made him into the amazing person that he is.

Again, you will want to see and hear all of this. Stay tuned till the end, as every piece of advice and wisdom was beautiful.

19 Dec 202222: Sturge Weber Awareness from Down Unda'- Evan Corbett00:59:03

Greetings from 'Down Unda' on this show's episode, the brothers welcome Evan, whose princess has the rare and uncommon Sturge Weber Syndrome. Evan joins the show from Australia and takes us along his journey as a dad with a daughter with a disability. Please note: this episode does have adult language, not used for harm and may not be for everyone.

Before these three blokes get too far into the discussion on Sturge Weber, they do a themed 3-way debate about spiders, tarantulas, Pizza, and soccer or rugby. It's worth noting, Jey forgets to ask Evan if he likes Pineapple on Pizza; he indeed does. That makes the score 3-2, and A-A-Ron is no longer alone.

Evan then takes us on the journey through life with his princess from the beginning, the ups and downs, the good and evil, and what it has been like for him and his partner.

Lastly, the three yanks wrap up by drafting their favorite "American" sayings. If you laugh harder than Jey, leave a comment, please.

What did you learn today? Please let us know in the comments who won the draft and what you learned today.

Don't forget their invite to you on last week's episode: spread love, cheer, and help someone in need this season. Put one can of food in the bin at the store, grab a $5 toy and donate it, pick a name off the giving tree and give, or whatever you can do to do it.

"Becoming a dad is a big step forward. It's a first-time realization that you're responsible for another person."

"When I got this pro camera, I was like, I gotta be a pro."

"Document your journey. That's what inspired me to get into podcasting and document my journey."

"If we shy away from conversations about politics or religion or relationships or LGBTQ+, then we're never going to feel comfortable enough as dads to have that conversation later with our kids about these things."

"Every conversation, every big conversation, little conversation should be coming from within the home with your kids because you're their best source of information."

"If you're never having the conversations about sex and drugs and alcohol and gender and religion and faith and morals and values, they're never going to know these things."

In this episode of the Young Dad podcast, Jay interviews Junaid Ahmed, a father of four and a content creator. They discuss Junaid's journey as a dad and his passion for photography and filmmaking. Junaid shares how he got into podcasting and the importance of documenting your journey. They also talk about the evolution of blogging and podcasting as platforms for sharing stories and connecting with others. It is important for dads to have open and honest conversations with their children about topics such as politics, religion, relationships, and gender. If dads shy away from these conversations, their children will seek information from unreliable sources. Dads need to be the best source of information for their kids and teach them tolerance and acceptance. It is crucial to have a solid foundation of belief and values within the home and to lead by example. Dads should also be mindful of what they consume, as what they put in will affect what comes out in their interactions with others. It is important to make personal changes in order to see changes in one's environment and relationships. Dads should raise children with morals and teach them to stand for something. Finding a community of like-minded individuals can provide support and guidance on the journey of fatherhood.

18 May 202349: Well-Balanced Dad Diet: Communication is Key00:20:16

You and I talk all day, every day. We talk to friends, family, partners, and kids at work, school, or whatever we do; we constantly use language in some form. Tone, diction, word choice, and how we say something are just as important as what those words mean. With it being 2023, parts of the language aren't used anymore, a new language has been introduced, and there are literal fights over language daily. However, when we consciously choose to use the language that will have the most impact, we are no longer talking but communicating.

25 May 202351: Well-Balanced Dad Diet- It's How You View You00:21:56

When you woke up this morning, you got out of bed, let the dog out, went to the bathroom, and then looked in the mirror. Did you recognize the person looking back at you? Are you happy with the person that's looking back at you? I want to know, are you not forgiving yourself? Do you feel like you've lost sight of yourself, you don't have passions, that you're not enough, and you might even feel like you're not doing your best or even a good job? Lastly, how full are you if you were a cup of water? The likely answer is that if you're a parent and specifically a dad, it might be pretty empty, and you might not have anything to pour in your partner, kids, co-workers, or those you interact with daily cups because you're so empty and need a refill.

We are so happy to promote the Well-Balanced Dad Diet; these are coming out during season 3 as BONUS content! You will want to jump on the WBDD train! You can check that out here on the site: https://www.ballboymedia.com/theballboyblog/categories/well-balanced-dad-diet

17 Jul 202363: As Dad As It Gets- Larry 01:25:38

"And that, as we say, is As Dad As It Gets," it was a lot of fun sitting down and chatting with Larry. Larry was such a pleasure to talk to, and we could have gone for hours, no pun intended. Larry took us through his journey into parenthood: infertility, becoming a foster parent, and ultimately leading to getting a single Facebook message 48 hours later; he and his wife were at the hospital welcoming their daughter into this world. I know a wild and crazy ride.

As we went through the episode, Larry and Jey talked about some of the most exciting questions Larry gets as a foster/adoptive parent; the two chatted about some fears, connecting with the biological family of adoptive parents, how our girls will go from the most loving creatures to busting noses the next second and much more about our kids. We ended our chat by discussing how after you become a parent, you must redefine your relationship with your friends; you might get left behind if you have girls and your friends have boys. Most importantly, how meaningful your relationship with your partner is, and to wrap it all us, Larry left us some excellent parting wisdom as we closed. We hope you enjoy it.

18 Jan 202326: Balance and The Struggle00:58:51

All right, I promise you to want to catch this episode. So much advice, inspiration, laughs, and embarrassment. Let me break it down for you.

Greetings, it's Wednesday, which is time for a new episode. The brothers today started with an overrated/underrated talking about:

  • Having siblings.
  • Bucket hats (cool dad hat).
  • Recording concerts/live events with your phone camera and going to brunch.

Honestly, you'll love the first segment.

Next, the bros got into an exciting discussion on balance. As you know, the Young Dad Pod preaches balance in every aspect of life. They got into finding balance with Work, Relationships, Kids, and Self. Wow, that was inspiring.

Now we get into something for the parents out there, the STRUGGLES! We have all of them, but the brothers talked about 4 of the most common ones that Jey could find among us.

  • Saying "No"
  • The Endless Concern
  • Letting your kids fail
  • Am I doing a good enough job?

Jey ended this show portion with a great quote from soon-to-be guest Brig from Baseball 2gether.

Lastly, a new segment! You will have to listen to fully experience how funny Drunk Spelling Bee indeed was.

Feel free to leave a question you want to be answered; a would you rather, this or that, and a review. Oh, and five stars. If you're on YouTube, please hit that subscribe button, too.
