16 May 202342 | Combining Feminism and Christianity - What a Novel Idea!00:24:18

Send us a text

Welcome to the latest episode of our podcast, where we dive deep into the themes of a new dystopian novel by author L. Maristatter that explores the intersection of feminist and Christian ideologies.

In this gripping novel, we follow the story of a young woman who finds herself living in a world where women's rights have been stripped away, and Christianity has been distorted to justify the oppression of women.

Throughout the novel, we see themes of resilience, empowerment, and the importance of standing up for what you believe in, even in the face of seemingly insurmountable odds. The novel also explores the complex relationship between feminism and Christianity, showing how these seemingly disparate ideologies can intersect and complement each other.

Join us as we discuss the powerful themes of this new dystopian novel, how they speak to the struggles and triumphs of women today, and the challenges of writing your first novel. This is a conversation you won't want to miss!

It wasn't until she was in her mid-20s that she decided to go for it and make a living as a photographer. 5 years later, Maria has now crafted a successful business that empowers women of all ages but especially those who need to get back a lost part of themselves.

17 | Tell Your Hormones To Get In Line!

Hormones, Periods, Gut and Liver Health. In this episode, we are talking about all things body and hormone-related with female hormone expert, Dr. LJ Johnson. After being misdiagnosed for endometriosis for 16 years, Dr. Johnson took it upon herself to do a deep dive into hormones and the role they play in our day-to-day health. Having pain around your monthly cycle? According to Dr. Johnson, we need to stop normalizing pain and examine the root causes behind common female maladies such as bloating, cramping, and acne. It's time to rethink the way your body responds.

Dr. Lj Johnson PsyD. IHP. FDNP. IIN, is a women’s hormone coach specializing in endometriosis, PCOS, and fibroids. Lj has worked in the women's health and fitness industry for over 20 years while overcoming her own diagnosis of endometriosis. Lj’s passion is to empower, motivate and educate all women that they too can have the quality of life despite their symptoms or diagnosis.

Welcome to the 2nd episode of You Betcha She Did where women entrepreneurs and ladies who have paved the way share their wit and wisdom. In today’s episode, Rayna talks with Marian Knopp, a productivity and lifestyle coach about how she found this pathway in life as well as her best productivity tips.

Marian has spent a lot of time teaching others how to be more productive. In particular, Marian discusses the need to adjust your workload based on your daily energy levels and hormones. You can’t have the same type of productivity from day to day based on these cycles, it is actually ridiculous to expect this.  When you adjust and embrace your bodies changing energy levels and hormones, you actually become more productive and less stressed.

Is there anything better than a coffee-fueled conversation with a dear friend? How about coffee delivered to your lake house by canoe? Sign me up, right! Coffee brings us together, is an initiator of great conversations and starts dreams. So why not base a business around it, including enjoying the finer aspects of a well-roasted coffee?

During the pandemic, Sheryl and her husband left the hustle and bustle of Chicago and moved to their Wisconsin cabin. They started to tinker with roasting coffee and found they had a knack for it. From there, they started Nordskov Coffee in the Whitewater, Wisconsin area where they help people to enjoy all that coffee has to offer. They are a small business that just celebrated their 1 year anniversary, and they are all about investing in their community.

11 Jul 202348 | Boosting the Hearts of Care-Givers00:19:34

Send us a text

Life throws all sorts of curveballs our way. Whenever I am going through a hard time, I am reminded of Mr. Roger's advice to look for the helpers. Hollie Mealy, the founder of The Right Relief Inc. which provides care to caregivers, is one of those helpers.

Hollie saw firsthand that caring for a loved one can be exhausting, thankless, and at times never-ending.  It's easy to forget about taking care of yourself when you are maxed out with taking care of someone else along with regular daily responsibilities. She knew there was a better way to get through difficult times and decided to do something about it.  She founded The Right Relief Inc. in 2019 and this incredible organization has already cooked and provided over 5,000 meals to caregivers and has plans for much, much more.  If you know someone who is providing care to another and needs a little boost, you're gonna want to tune in!

15 Aug 202351 | Making Cancer Suck Less with Lemons of Love00:32:51

Send us a text

Cancer Sucks. It sucks big time. Jill Swanson was diagnosed with colon cancer in 2014, but it was the sight of other cancer patients in the waiting room that inspired her to start giving out care packages to help "make cancer suck less." This grew into Lemons of Love, her nonprofit that has donated over 26,000 care packages to cancer patients filled with lemon drops, ginger tea, superhero socks, and happy pictures from kids.

Jill, an accomplished businesswoman in the male-dominated motorsports industry, shares how her tight-knit racing community rallied around her during treatment. They not only raise funds for Lemons of Love but help deliver care packages across the country.

Beyond care packages, Lemons of Love provides support groups, and social services, and is building a healing garden along a river for patients to meditate and reflect. Jill also discusses the challenges caregivers face and her plans to provide them with care packages and support.

Join Jill as she shares the origin story of lemons of love, the impact of even small gestures on cancer patients, and how "doing it scared" can inspire you to embrace change.

How many sleepless nights have you spent worrying about childcare? It's a struggle that Angel Berry, co-founder of the non-profit organization A Million Dreamz, knows all too well. Meet Adra Kusnirova, a former international student program manager turned fishmonger.  As a former resident of Alaska, Adra came to know the fishing community intimately and held on to that attachment when she settled in Wisconsin. Together, with her husband, she started Alaska Fresh,  a Midwest beacon for sustainably sourced, wild-caught Alaskan seafood that can delivered right to your doorstep.  Their story isn't just about the catch; it's a deep plunge into passion and adaptability, showing us all how a love for quality and the environment can scale up into a thriving business that's as fresh as the catch itself.

Tune in as Adra and I discuss:

  • her efforts to support more Alaskan fishermen
  • how climate change is affecting the fishing industry
  • what it means to be a sustainable fishing company and why not all fish farms should be avoided

If you love fish and learning about where your food comes from, then you'll want to tune into this episode. Join us to get hooked on the incredible tale of how one woman's leap into the seafood industry is making waves for the future of our planet.

Are you tired of spinning your wheels and feeling like you're getting no closer to your goals? I get it, I've been there too. What if I told you that the key to making progress in your dream life is to let areas of your life drift for a short amount of time?  Whether you're climbing the career ladder, improving your health or taking care of your family, I have some personal insights to help you reach those goals.

Join me to chat about Jillian Johnsrud's 'Lean In, Show Up, Drift' monthly goal-setting method.  This has been a game changer for me and it's all about prioritizing your focus without feeling guilty about letting things drift. Remember Jillian from episode 57 where she dropped some knowledge on financial independence? Well, get ready to dive deeper.

We'll discuss where to focus your energy this month, where to show up, and what to let slide. When you make room for your dreams and goals, you reach them. Trust me, by the end of this, you'll have the tools to make a real impact, not just keep busy.

Your assignment for April, choose what you will:

  1. Lean in on (Really Focus on this Month)
  2. Show up for (It's happening, but not all your energy is here)
  3. Drift (what  will you let go to ensure you have time and energy to complete your most important priority?)

Raise your hand if you have ever felt burn-out and mental exhaustion. If you're raising your hand, you are not alone. I bet most women around the world are raising their hands.

In this episode of You Betcha She Did, I talk with Dr. Jennifer Blossom about the concept of "masking" in leadership, where women often hide behind facades of perfection, unwavering strength, and selflessness. None of these masks are good for you and often lead to burnout and emotional exhaustion.

She explained how these masks, while initially protective, become limiting beliefs that hinder personal and professional growth. We discussed practical steps to unmask and shed these limiting beliefs using the acronym SHED: Self-reflection, Honoring authenticity, Embracing resistance, and Deciding to take control of one's thoughts and actions.

20 Aug 202499 | Million Dollar Decisions vs. Broke A#$ Decisions - Which Are You Making?00:23:56

Send us a text

Are you a Broke Boo or a Rich Boo? Do you make Broke A#$ decisions or Million Dollar Decisions? In this episode, I am diving into the genius of Rachel Roger's book aptly titled - We Should All Be Millionaires.

Rodgers argues that society and the media perpetuate stereotypes about women and money that keep women from earning more. She rejects the idea that women need to work harder or live more frugally, and instead suggests that women need to change how they think and feel about money.  When women are millionaires, the world changes for the better. And before you think, there is no way I will ever be a millionaire, think again.

Take a listen as I dive into a few of my top takeaways from Rachel's genius book including helping you discern which type of decisions are guiding your life: Broke A#$ Decisions or Million Dollar Decisions.

17 Sep 2024100 | From Periods to Presidency: Generation Alpha's Bold Visions00:16:54

Send us a text

In this special 100th episode of You Betcha She Did, we dive into the thoughts and aspirations of Wisconsin's Generation Alpha— young women who are poised to shape the future.

As a special side project of the Women's Leadership Conference put on by New Sage Strategies this October, I was able to interview several teenage women leaders from Northeast Wisconsin. In this special episode, they share their dreams, concerns, and inspirations, offering a powerful glimpse into the next generation’s mindset.

Their insights on vulnerability, representation, and future goals are both eye-opening and deeply inspiring, reminding us of the importance of supporting young women in their journey toward leadership and equality.

Here are three key takeaways from this episode:

  1. The Power of Vulnerability
Many young women bravely step outside their comfort zones, discussing stigmatized topics and advocating for important issues. Their courage reminds us that vulnerability is a strength, and by sharing our own stories, we can foster a more open and empowered community.
  2. The Importance of Representation
Concerns about the lack of female leadership were prevalent, highlighting the need for more women in business, government, and STEM fields. This serves as a powerful reminder that when young girls see women in positions of power, it encourages them to pursue their own dreams without limits.
  3. Dreaming Big for the Future
From aspirations of a woman president to the elimination of gender inequality, these young women envision a world of equal opportunities for all. It’s a call to action for us to support the next generation, ensuring they have the tools and encouragement to achieve their bold dreamss

A special Thank You to Vicki Updike, New Sage Strategies, Madison Wilcox, Maggie Johnson, Laurel Golson, Elle Trampe, CoCo Guiou, and Chloe Godlewski for sharing their voices and thoughts for this episode.

Wouldn't be nice if all of your health information, I mean all of it (main doctor, ob-gyn, specialists, dentists, chiropractors, etc) was stored in one central location where both you and your doctors could access it? This is a solution that entrepreneur Estelle Giraud is working on with her new company Trellis Health. After numerous complications during and after her first pregnancy, Estelle found it exhausting to track and convey all of her key health data. She knew there was a better way. When she didn't find out, she invented it. Learn more about how Estelle's journey to start Trellis Health and how it might help us all as we become the chief medical officers not just of ourselves, but of loved ones such as our children and elderly parents.

Starting a business in Nigeria is not for the faint of heart. With frequent power outages, soaring inflation in the market, not to mention 2 years of rent up front to start a brick-and-mortar business, it is amazing that anyone even starts a business. In this episode, Rayna talks with Bola Body Lawson, her former co-worker at the American International School of Lagos, Nigeria, about what it was like to leave her job as a tech guru and start her own bakery. Starting her business has allowed Bola more time with her family (her commute time went from 4 hours to 5 minutes) and also a chance to pursue one of her passions, baking. Learn more about what it is like to do business in Nigeria and how the optimistic, can-do attitude of the Nigerian people drives their success.
