26 Jan 2018 | 061: WTM 2017: The Morning After with Zoe Szczepanek, Maria Herrera, Gaspar Vazquez, and Evan Perperis | 00:35:09
Kickoff Week 2018 Continues! The morning after WTM 2017 Will Hicks took his microphone to the hotel lobby to see who he could find. He ended up talking with Zoe Szczepanek, Maria Herrera, Gaspar Vazquez, and Evan Perperis for this episode. Zoe Szczepanek (Scha-pah-neck. You can do it) was the sideline reporter for the Facebook Live coverage of WTM 2017. She shares her thoughts on the event, the community, and her future plans in the sport. 2017 was Maria Herrera's first time at WTM. She suffered an injury but still cranked out 35 miles her first time out. Gaspar Vazquez was also a rookie this year. He finished with 50 miles even though he started cramping up IN THE FIRST LAP. Evan Perperis was part of a two-man team in the classic team category with Wesley Kerr. They won second place with 80 miles. Before we even talk with our guests though, we have a pretty intense discussion of Australia. You can blame Anne Carolyn Clifford, or you can blame Will's poor pronunciation of Brisbane. (It SHOULD sound like "Bris-Bin") --- If you'd like to join the World’s Toughest Podcast Newsletter, text the word TOUGH to 228-28, or email WorldsToughestPodcast@gmail.com with SUBSCRIBE in the subject line and your 1)Name, 2)Email Address and 3)Cell Phone in the body of the email. 25 Jul 2017 | 031: Running 75 Miles at 200 pounds or better: Clydesdales and Athenas with Chris Betcher | 00:44:18
Running 75 miles at 200 pounds or better: Clydesdales and Athenas with Chris Betcher Chris Betcher ran 75 miles at World’s Toughest Mudder in 2016. That’s great, but what makes it exceptional is he did it as a Clydesdale, a guy that weighs more than 200 pounds. (Don’t worry ladies. There’s a category for you too. Athenas are women who weigh more than 150 pounds.) Chris wrote about his experience for Obstacle Racing Media which led to the creation of a Facebook Group dedicated to WTM participants that qualify as Clydesdales or Athenas. We talk about the article, about the group, and what he specifically did to prepare and execute to reach 75 miles in Vegas. Don’t forget Toughest Mudder Atlanta is on CBS this weekend. Record it. Matt B. Davis and Will Hicks got together the morning after World’s Toughest 2017 and talked about the race. Matt and Will follow the sport of OCR as closely as any two men on the planet. They share their thoughts on the athletes and the race. This is the first interview in the 50-something episodes of the podcast that has not been edited. It gives it a different feel than most of the other interviews on the podcast so far. Let us know what you think of it on our Facebook page: Facebook.com/worldstoughestpod. 14 Dec 2018 | 115: World's Toughest Mudder 2018: The Night After | 01:47:08
The last event of the weekend of World's Toughest Mudder is called "The Bar Crawl". It's not called that because people crawl from bar to bar though. It's called the Bar Crawl because everyone is so sore, they have to crawl to get to the bar. Or at least that's the story we heard from our first guest this episode. We are joined by six guests we talked to at the bar crawl the night after World's Toughest Mudder 2018. J.D. Allen is an Atlanta local and veteran of multiple World's Toughest Mudders. He shares his thoughts on this years version of the race. Mike Stefano and Katelyn Ritter are the hosts of the Obstacle Running Adventures podcast. Mike ran WTM for the first time this year and Katelyn pitted him all the way to 50 miles. Chris Wilkins and John Cheek came all the way from the UK to run World's Toughest Mudder. They have advice for international runners thinking about making the trip. Kenny Rotter ran 40 miles in the bitter cold this year and ran into Will Hicks multiple times over the weekend. He talks about how to take the Tough Mudder spirit into "real life" off the course.

10 Nov 2018 | 111: Elite Week: Trevor Cichosz. "Race the Course, Not the Competition" | 00:13:25
Trevor Cichosz is the men's 2016 World's Toughest Mudder Champion. During his win in 2016 he became one of the seven men to run 100 miles in a single World's Toughest Mudder and joined the exclusive "Orange Jacket Club." Trevor recently ran 219 miles in a race across Scotland. During the 65 hours it took him to run, he did not sleep at all. He won the race. One interesting part of Trevor's race strategy is he makes sure his pit crew does NOT tell him standing in the race. He doesn't want to know what place he is in. This is part of his plan to "Race the course, not the competition." --- The OCR Report is live! 23 Mar 2017 | 009: Toughest Mudder L.A. Course Preview and last minute tips with Dr. Wesley Kerr | 00:46:33
Wesley Kerr joins us to talk about Toughest Mudder Los Angeles. We talk about five main areas of preparation for Tough Mudder's first ever eight hour race. We discuss Pacing, Obstacles, Pitting, Nutrition, and General Tips for the race. Because the first four hours are on a 5 mile loop with little to no elevation gain, it will be important to get your miles in early. This is especially true if you are trying to reach 50 miles this weekend. An interesting thing Wesley told me is he's not planning on wearing a wetsuit. As long as he keeps moving fast enough, he's planning to wear his red running tights or possibly his 1mm thick Frogskins. By way of disclaimer Will said he will ABSOLUTELY be wearing a wetsuit, so everyone else will have to make up their own mind. We are putting together a Sean Corvelle appreciation episode. If you'd like to be a part of it call (302) 786-9868 and leave a voicemail with your name and a story about how Sean has made an impact on your life. Who would you like to hear on the podcast? 23 Sep 2019 | 124: Ryan Atkins and Rea Kolbl: Champions Week Day 1 | 00:25:07
Ryan Atkins is the only six-time champion of World’s Toughest Mudder. No one else has won it more than three times and no other man has won it more than twice. Atkins won his first title in 2013 with the first-ever 100-mile performance at World’s Toughest Mudder. He also won individual titles in 2014 and 2017 as well as winning team titles in 2015, 2016, and 2018. His 2016 team performance with Jon Albon of 105 miles earned them the bonus prize of $100,000. Atkins also holds the record for highest mileage at a single WTM with 110 miles in 2017. Atkins is undoubtedly the greatest athlete in endurance OCR. Rea Kolbl is the reigning women’s champion of World’s Toughest Mudder. Her win in Atlanta in 2018 was a successful defense of her first win in Las Vegas 2017. With her back-to-back wins in 2017 and 2018 she became the first back-to-back individual winner since Amelia Boone in 2014 and 2015. Her 90 miles in 2017 tied the record for a woman set by Amelia Boone in 2012. Atkins and Kolbl are the only past winners to win back to back individual titles at two different race venues. Atkins won in 2013 in New Jersey and 2014 in Vegas. Kolbl won in 2017 in Vegas and 2018 in Atlanta. Ryan and Rea talked with us from a boat landing in Fiji. They will be teammates competing on the new Eco-Challenge airing on Amazon Prime in 2020. Stay tuned for more on the Eco-Challenge next year. --- Welcome to Champion's Week on World's Toughest Podcast. Every day this week we are talking with a past champion of World's Toughest Mudder

10 Aug 2017 | 033: Tough Mudder 5k Preview with Jay Ruggiero | 01:04:41
Will is back from his family vacation and has a lot of news to get caught up on before he talks Tough Mudder 5k with Jay Ruggiero. Big items in the news we talk about are the new Toughest Mudder TV shows on CBS, the location of WTM 2018 and the new category this year at WTM: National Team. Will also does a little speculation on the future of co-ed teams at World's Toughest Mudder. Jay Ruggerio is running this weekend in the first ever Tough Mudder 5k. We talk through the 3.1 miles and the 10 obstacles that many people will be facing for the first time ever. Jay ran WTM for the first time in 2016 and completed 20 miles. He feels like he has unfinished business with the course and is looking to complete 50 miles in 2017. To help him and a small group of friends reach that goal of 50 miles he started a Facebook group called WTM 2017 50-Mile Team. The group now has over 200 members. 05 Feb 2018 | 064: Unbroken: Ninja Warrior, Dressage Trainer, and WTM Elite Contender Adriane Alvord | 01:05:34
Adriane Alvord joins the show to share her story. Adriane finished in 9th Place at her first WTM in 2016. After qualifying as an Elite Contender at Toughest Mudder Philly she had high hopes for 2017. The race didn't end up working out the way she hoped, after a nasty fall from Stage 5 Clinger left her with a concussion and unable to run in a straight line. Adriane has competed in the past two seasons of American Ninja Warrior and has high hopes to compete again this year. She also placed third at the BFX-24 race that was won by Adriane's "concussion buddy" Morgan Mckay. Adriane also talks about her Dressage business. (It rhymes with Massage.) She says the best way to explain Dressage is "Ballet with horses". Most people at World's Toughest Mudder write their names on their bibs, or a nickname. Adriane writes "Unbroken". Adriane escaped a violent abusive relationship and writes that on her bib to remind herself and to show others that she is still Unbroken. --- If you'd like to join the World’s Toughest Podcast Newsletter, text the word TOUGH to 228-28, or email WorldsToughestPodcast@gmail.com with SUBSCRIBE in the subject line and your 1)Name, 2)Email Address and 3)Cell Phone in the body of the email. On today’s episode we talk with the only four people to compete in all six Toughest Mudder races this year. Jim Campbell, Melissa “Sharkbait” Dugan, Sara Knight, and Mark James ran each Toughest Mudder race this year in Los Angeles, Atlanta, the UK, Philadelphia, Whistler, and Chicago. You want to know which Toughest was the toughest Toughest. We start with each of them telling which of the six races they thought was the toughest. Then we talk with them about the Toughest Mudder series as a whole, and about each race individually. We wrap up by getting each of their rankings of all six races. Which race was the toughest? Second toughest? All the way down to sixth toughest. And then finally, we assign point values to those rankings, add up the scores of each venue and give a definitive answer to the question: “Which Toughest was the toughest Toughest?
