Today we’re speaking with Tyler Chou, The Creators Attorney.

Tyler Chou, known as "The Creators Attorney," articulates her life’s calling to protect and support creators. From a 15-year career as an entertainment and transactional attorney in Hollywood to founding Tyler Chou Law for Creators.

15 Aug 2023Live from NYC00:52:01

Today we’re speaking with Jessy Grossman of WIIM, Taylar Barrington-Booker of Agency Cliquish, Ayomi Samaraweera of Canopy, and Christie Childers of Best Day Ever

After spending 3.5 years working in the Creator Economy, first at TikTok as the Global Head of Internal Communications and then at Jellysmack as Chief of Staff to the President, Ayomi is now a full-time startup founder building Canopy – an anonymous-but-verified platform for creators to crowdsource information and spill the tea in a safe space. As a TikTok Creator herself she has experienced the lack of transparency in the Creator Economy and is on a mission to democratize access to information and create a level playing field for Creators. She has been featured 5x in Business Insider as both a Founder and Creator.

Christie Childers is an Influencer Marketing and Brand Partnerships consultant based in New York City (and sometimes beyond) under her company entity, Best Day Ever. She plays all sides of the space managing a roster of 12 influencers, strategizing campaign activations for brands, as well as building her own fitness studio capitalizing on influencer marketing to drive foot traffic and new clientele.

As an early adopter of the creator-focused vertical, Christie’s expertise has evolved specifically to focus on creative directorial strategies, negotiating and upselling content usage packages and licensing deals, and using campaign performance data to draw conclusions about audience behaviors. This has extended her many opportunities to work with world-leading companies offering industry education, specifically rooted in trend-focused strategies where brands are often missing the mark in activating influencers and creators.

She is a global agencies alumni, an in-progress debut author, and overall a multi-hyphenate pursuant of creative endeavors that make people feel good. Her work ethic is honest, tenacious, and detail-oriented, and her goal is to make sure clients always have the best day ever!

Taylar is the Founder and Head of Talent and Partnerships at Agency Cliquish, a talent development and management agency dedicated to world-class representation for Black digital talent founded in Chicago, IL.

Agency Cliquish’s roster of compelling personal brands boasts a daily reach of 7.5 million across digital platforms. Under Barrington-Booker’s leadership, the agency has penned contracts for influencer marketing partnerships with brands like LVMH, Givenchy, YSL, Amazon, ULTA, Lincoln, Nordstrom, Nike, L’Oreal, Fenty, Neutrogena, Netflix, and hundreds more.

The strategically curated talent being managed by Agency Cliquish’s team of diversely-skilled Black women can be found across global streaming platforms like Hulu, Netflix, and TEDx, and featured in national outlets including CNN, Buzzfeed, PopSugar, 21Nintey, ESSENCE, and more!

Taylar is also a fierce advocate of diversity and inclusion in influencer marketing, a co-author for the published diversity charge #CreatorsforEquality, and a member of the diversity committee for Women In Influencer Marketing.

Women in influencer marketing is a first of its kind exclusive networking group made up of inspirational women. This podcast is where we explore influencer marketing and get real about women in business. Find us wherever you download podcasts and of course you can always find us at iamwiim.com. That's iamwiim.com. Guys welcome back to the women in influencer marketing podcast. For those of you who are new, my name is Jesse Grossman, and I'm here to take you on a journey today. We're gonna be talking with our guest Courtney Rice, of Cleo. She is a member favorite. In fact, when I was talking about who our next guest is gonna be, we had so many of our members chime in on our slack board and was like, I love Courtney. Courtney's the best. She helps me with this. She was there for me for that. So she's been such a great addition to the community. And I was so intrigued by like her story and also Cleo, which is a FinTech company. And it's all about supporting and helping people. Not just women, but people, improve their like finances and their financial situations, um, by education. So we talked all about how female dominated industries, such as influencer marketing, how that sort of indicates and impacts her influencer partnerships at Cleo. We talked about like her upbringing and we talked about, you know, how she even got into influencer marketing in the first place, and we also spoke about just the fact that it's like a female dominated industry, a lot about female empowerment and like, what does actually mean anymore. I'm sort of tired of like throwing around these phrases that have become so cliche. Cuz we just hear about them all the time. They're like these buzz words, but it's like, okay, female empowerment, female empowerment. Like what actually empowers you? I'll tell you what empowers me. What empowers me is like. Really feeling like I'm moving the needle, like I'm making progress. One of the worst things that I experience is feeling stagnant, feeling still, feeling like I'm stuck. So if I'm feeling empowered, I'm feeling like creative juices are flowing and I feel collaborative, I feel creative and I just feel like I'm making forward progress. So I asked Courtney that question, and I'm gonna ask you guys that question as we sort of transition into this, uh, interview. What actually empowers you? So I'm gonna leave that as a question in this week's episode, you can actually answer the question if you're listening on Spotify. I don't know if a lot of you know that you could do that, but I'm really into making this podcast a lot more collaborative these days. So, for example, you'll hear in this episode, we have our members actually tune in live to the recordings and I like hearing from them in real time. And then for those of you who couldn't make it, or just not members of WIIM, I'm gonna be adding questions into our Spotify feed. So check that out. The question is, what actually empowers you? And so go ahead and answer that question now, or at the end of the episode, when whenever's convenient for you, cuz I do definitely wanna hear from you. Also, unfortunately my camera like took a nose dive in this interview so you can sit back and enjoy the audio, although we, you know, normally do have video, but Courtney's video looks fricking fantastic. So you can also watch just to be able to like enjoy Courtney, but the unfortunate thing about producing your own show, for the most part, is that sometimes the tech goes awry. So Courtney's fantastic. I know you're gonna enjoy listening to her. So without further ado, enjoy this week's episode guys. So Courtney Rice, I'm super stoked to

14 Nov 20233 Tips for Better Networking00:17:52

In this podcast, I challenge the conventional term "networking," finding it outdated and anxiety-inducing. I propose alternatives like "community" or "partnerships" for a more positive vibe. I emphasize the significance of getting personal, sharing aspects of one's life to foster genuine connections. I advocate for a mindset shift towards asking how I can help the other person, promoting a mutually beneficial approach. Lastly, I highlight the often overlooked practice of following up with personalized gestures to stand out in professional relationships, all while stressing the value of building authentic connections over time.[01:00] Redefining Networking

20 Sep 2022Contextual Commerce with Julian Greene of Blogist (@juliangreene)00:59:46

Today we’re speaking with Julian Greene of Blogist.

As a 10-year veteran in the influencer industry, one of the biggest issues Julian personally struggled with as a marketer when serving as the Head of Influencer marketing at a variety of different direct-to-consumer businesses was the lack of standardization when it came to influencer spend and understanding the true ROI on an influencer campaign. She founded Blogist four years ago to fix this, and with thousands of influencers now in our network, many of whom they now manage, they are able to pull both qualitative and quantitative insights on their business for brands to understand the expected impact they will see working with the right influencer.
