07 Jan 2021 | Greatest lessons of 2020, psychedelics and looking ahead with Gaby Barboza | 02:01:25
As we find ourselves in a new year, we can't help but reflect on the one that's just passed. 2020 was a year filled with ups, downs, learnings and realizations. This episode is about all of that. I had the chance to sit down with my longest friend, Gaby Barboza. She is an RN, RYT-200, Reiki practitioner and soon to be Nutritional Therapy Practitioner (NTP). Gaby is empowered by mindful, bio-individual, intentional holistic medicine. She sincerely believes that we are all capable of living an energized, happy, and fulfilling life and the answers lie within us if we can take some time to listen and also be heard by the practitioners we consult. We've known each other since we were 3 years old - so to say we're close would be an understatement. In this episode, Gaby and I talk about the highs and lows of 2020, what our greatest lessons were and what we're looking forward to in this new revolution around the sun. We each determined 2021 to be the year of ______ and set goals and milestones we hope to reach - both personally and in business. This episode is a gentle reminder that we are not alone, no matter how hard this life gets. A reminder to find the light in the dark. Where to find Gaby

Switching things up a bit for this episode. I was interviewed by Taj Arora, a London based travel and self-growth digital creator. She recently started the Not So Perfect podcast and had me on as a guest. I wanted to share our episode on Women & the Wilderness because there are a lot of juicy takeaways that I didn’t want you to miss out on. I’m going to be honest, I had no idea what to expect when traveling internationally during COVID-19. It’s like asking someone to tell you what love feels like: it’s different for everyone! I recently had the opportunity to visit Costa Rica, you can read about that in the blog post linked in the show notes. Traveling internationally wasn’t a decision I made lightly and a number of factors came into play. Ultimately: I decided to travel internationally. I've never been one to set New Years resolutions and follow through with them. Aaron Owens Mayhew is a registered dietitian and ultralight long-distance backpacker with nearly 20 years of experience as a hiker and nutrition expert. Since then, Aaron has dedicated her career to helping thousands of hikers enjoy delicious food and improve their performance in the backcountry. She focuses on ultralight, low-volume recipes and meal plans specially formulated for endurance athletes. Aaron truly loves creating delicious, functional backpacking recipes and sharing her knowledge with like-minded hikers! 06 Aug 2020 | Not allowing physical differences define who you are with Allison Lang | 01:44:52
In this episode of Women & the Wilderness I am joined by Allison Lang; content creator, solo female traveler, and advocate for body inclusivity. Oh, and did I mention she’s a left below-the-knee amputee? Born and raised in Alberta, she grew up hiking, snowboarding, and swimming in Banff and Jasper National Park. This ignited her passion for travel, she’s backpacked 29 countries thus far! In this conversation, we discuss how she overcame severe bullying, body image insecurities, and a handful of surgeries which, in the end, led her to find her sense of independence and confidence. Allison has personally eliminated the word “disabled” from her vocabulary and prefers to use “physical difference” instead because she believes that each obstacle is an opportunity. She encourages others to ask questions and hopes to open up the conversation about amputation to normalize bodies that are physically different.

Payton Hoops is a long time adventurer based in Boulder, Colorado. Her love of the outdoors began at a young age when she would spend time hiking and camping with her family in the summers. 10 Dec 2020 | My thoughts on traveling and practices for traveling safely during COVID-19 | 00:27:24
Flashback to March when I'd just returned from what I didn't know would be my last international trip for 9 months. I remember thinking that the pandemic would be swift, quick and life would get back to normal rather quickly. As the months rolled on- I realized that was not the case. And before I could get a handle on it, my life had completely changed. Seemingly overnight. I made the decision to travel domestically, within the U.S., and internationally within the last couple of months. It was a decision I did not take lightly and I felt an overwhelming amount of responsibility when it came to sharing my experience. In this episode I chat about my first domestic flight during the pandemic and all of the precautions I will be taking for my first international trip this week. Along with my thoughts and feelings about why I've chosen to travel. I share this episode with you to help educate you on traveling safely and how to respect the communities and countries you're visiting. The detriment that COVID-19 has caused the travel industry is devastating but what's more devastating is the economic loss in countries that rely so heavily on tourism. It's a double-edged sword to encourage travel right now but as someone that works in the industry, it is also my responsibility to share how travel can be done safely.
