06 May 2023#2: Shortcut: They want you to obey - with Daniel Prince00:20:55

Daniel Prince, author of Choose Life, and host of the Once Bitten Podcast, is sharing some meaningful insights about his family's unschooling journey, and what it means to deschool not only your kids, but yourself.

Daniel and I actually got to know each other at the Liberty in Our Lifetime conference in Prague. At the LIOL everything is about building parallel structures – and exactly this is what this episode is all about! What does unschooling looks like in a family of 4 children, what are the differences between worldschooling and unschooling? But the most important take away of this episode is clearly that Daniel is sharing some not so known truths about the traditional school system, that are uncomfortable to face.

“If anybody listening is thinking about taking their kids out of school, because “the education system is completely broken and not fit for purpose” – spoiler alert, it's not broken, it's working exactly as it was designed to work. The reason your kids are, and you are the way you are, is, the system insidiously points in place to create certain behaviors. And it has nothing to do with learning, it has everything to do with obedience and control.”

02 Aug 2024#51: The end of the Ponzi scheme - with Tony from The Bitcoin Way00:56:18

In this episode of the Wild Life Unschooling Podcast, I sit down with Tony from The Bitcoin Way to talk about the crumbling structures of our world and the rise of self-sovereignty. We explore how outdated systems are failing and why it's crucial to step out of the mess and build something new.

Tony’s take is clear: the EU and other big institutions are on their last legs. He’s passionate about equipping ourselves and our kids with the knowledge to navigate a world that's falling apart, not by clinging to old systems, but by creating self-sufficient, independent lives.

This isn’t just about observing the chaos; it’s about actively choosing to live differently and build resilient communities. Listen in for a raw, real discussion on escaping the clutches of a dying system and embracing true freedom.

12 Sep 2023#20: Falling into the Propaganda Rabbit Hole - with Mike Vera00:54:30

This time, it's not so much about unschooling - but about propaganda!

With me, is Mike Vera, MS, NBC-HWC, Founder of Red Pill Health & Wellness, LLC, and the Host of the Healthy & Awake Podcast. Together, we delve deep into the captivating world of education, critical thinking, and the dangers of blindly trusting authority.

"We do need some kind of change or revolution in education so that critical thinking is encouraged and facilitated instead of just trusting authority. Because there's a time and a place for trusting authority. I'm not saying that people become crazy, paranoid lunatics and don't trust anybody ever. That's not productive either. But there does seem to be an inclination in society to as much as possible trust authority. And I don't think people realize what exactly is going on when that happens. Because there is such a thing as a healthy sense of skepticism. There's a reason we are able to be skeptical. It prevents us from making bad decisions. It prevents us from possibly making life threaten decisions."

Mike shows us the complexities of our information age, and we discuss the perils of propaganda, and shed light on how we can navigate these challenges while nurturing the growth of critical thinking in ourselves and future generations.

Don't miss out on this eye-opening conversation with Mike Vera, where we explore the urgent need for a new paradigm in education and how it can empower us to think critically and make informed decisions in an ever-changing world.

18 Jul 2023#13: The Power of Place: How Our Environment Shapes Learning - with Rita Trombin00:31:24

In this episode of the Wild Life Unschooling Podcast, we are joined by Rita Trombin, an Environmental Psychologist at Biofilia specialized in the impact of architecture, interior design, and the environment on learning and health. Rita shares her expertise and insights on how our built environment can support and enhance these crucial aspects of our lives.

Together with our host, Alex, we explore the fascinating connection between design and well-being. Rita emphasizes the importance of thoughtful design choices in educational spaces, discussing how elements like natural light, flexible seating arrangements, and biophilic design can promote concentration, creativity, and collaboration among learners. She also highlights the positive effects of incorporating nature into our built spaces, reducing stress levels, and improving cognitive function.

“Children don't have the possibility to develop their biophilia and to benefit from nature. So we are growing a generation of people who don't care of nature and cannot benefit from nature.”

Throughout the episode, Rita shares examples of her work and notable projects that exemplify the principles she advocates. She provides practical advice for listeners interested in creating supportive environments for learning and health, encouraging them to engage with experts in environmental psychology and sustainable design.

Join us for this thought-provoking conversation as we explore the transformative power of architecture, interior design, and the environment in nurturing learning, promoting well-being, and fostering a deeper connection with the natural world.

21 Feb 2024#35: Stop asking for permission - w/Rick from The Bitcoin Way01:03:10

In this episode I'm little Morty learning from Rick from The Bitcoin Way a lot about self custody, Bitcoin mixing, KYC-free BTCs, and so much more.

What does that have to do with unschooling?

I tell you what Bitcoin has to do with unschooling. One is decentralized money, the other is decentralized education. And after this episode you will see the many, many, many parallels between Bitcoin and unschooling. And you'll probably want to get yourself some Sats (Bitcoin) from BISQ or a local Bitcoin ATM. Self-sovreign all the way!

02 Jun 2024#45: A little spiritual talk on money - w/Seb Bunney00:58:22

30 May 2023#7: Unschooling and Bitcoin for a better future! - with Didi Taihuttu00:56:49

Didi Taihuttu from “The Bitcoin Family” is unschooling/worldschooling his 3 kids. After going all into Bitcoin, entrepreneur and author Didi initiated amongst other projects a Bitcoin-funded school in Mexico - and inspires other families to discover sound money and self-directed learning.

While traveling the world for the last couple of years and visiting over 40 countries, Didi and his family were featured by CNBC, CNA, WJS, ARTE and many other local news agencies. Didi is also capturing the Bitcoin Family´s on their own YouTube channel, and is spreading awareness about self-sovereign lifestyle in countless podcasts.

“We as a digital nomad family brainwashed our kids anti-government, anti-bank. Kids that have hope left for a better future and that will share that around again. It needs always to be one in the family that breaks the circle. And if you break the circle, then you provide a new way of living and a new future for your children. But if you keep running that hamster wheel, kids will follow you.”

Since a couple of years I have been following their journey, and Didi with his never-ending-energy, enthusiasm, and honesty never failed to surprise me. Get to know Didi Taihuttu a bit better with me!

And here are all the links to what Alex mentioned in our talk, I probably forgot one or two, feel free to ask me, I'll try to deliver ;)

05 Sep 2023#19: Unschooling Chronicles India - with Priyanka Modi00:58:45

Welcome to the Wild Life Unschooling Podcast! I'm your host, Alexandra Kons, and I'm thrilled to have you join us on this exciting journey into the world of unschooling. In today's episode, we're diving deep into the unschooling practices in the diverse and vibrant… India!

Our special guest for this episode is none other than the esteemed Priyanka Modi, an education visionary and advocate based in India. I’ve been following her unschooling journey on LinkedIn for quite some time - and I simply fell in love with her engagement, her stories, and of course her adorable son Adi. Priyanka is also educating other parents, with her weekly newsletters and her page “Education Next”.

“He's quite convinced the way he wants to learn. He wants to explore different things. He cannot attend lectures, he gets really bored in lectures. He feels better if he has his own routine, he likes to talk about it. For example, today he has been into some cardboard projects since the morning. He's he's learning. He's doing his own thing. He watches videos and goes back, fixes it. And I know that no other center in the world can give him this kind of space to do the things that he wants. And I think Adi is not a child who would like to be forced to do things. He will just do it for the sake of doing it. And I don't want him to have an experience like that.”

In this episode, we'll explore the intriguing concept of unschooling and how it takes shape in the Indian context. Priyanka will take us on a journey through worldschooling real-life stories that define unschooling experiences in India.

Tune in to the Wild Life Unschooling Podcast as we embark on an enlightening conversation with Priyanka Modi. Gain a fresh perspective on education, culture, and the power of embracing unconventional paths to learning. Don't miss this opportunity to be inspired and invigorated by the possibilities that unschooling holds - get inspired by Priyanka’s honesty and passion for freedom!

06 Nov 2023#27: FIND YOUR TRIBE - w/Joy and Mayur Sontakke00:52:54

You probably noticed, that I didn't launch any new episode last week (Shame on me! The plan was to publish weekly!) - and that's because I'm working quite hard on the next level of this podcast. So stay tuned, I'll make some changes to this little pod ;)

But for now, enjoy this episode with this ABSOLUTELY stunning, beautiful couple, Joy and Mayur Sontakke from Vietnam/India. They're all about building communities, co-living, co-working, homeschooling/unschooling, and I somehow fell in love with them. After this episode, you'll be in love, too.

06 Dec 2024#59: Removing yourself from the system - w/Sylvia Brinded-Püls00:57:23

Sylvia is the founder of "A Place to Be", a decentralized unschooling neighborhood for fiat-proof families, and already the second time on my show. Check out our first episode to learn, how her unschooling project on Madeira started, because in this episode we will be talking about the project's progress, motherly intuition, play = learning, and doggy care.

26 Sep 2023#22: Why we should never stop playing - with Peter Gray00:53:15

In this episode, I'm talking to Peter Gray, yes, you read this right - I couldn't believe it myself.

You don't want to miss this episode, because Peter shares many tips on how to be a more relaxed unschooling parent/educational coach. Because, I guess, most of us has been there: challenging the status quo is not always easy. But if you feel like it's the right thing to do, you're not alone - and you might enjoy this discussion.

Peter shares many insights from his research and studies, and for all the parents of gaming-loving-kids out there: gaming is just fine ;) don't worry too much. And (last "and"), as many of you asked me, "how do I even start unschooling", we deep dive into that as well - here a little sneak peek:

"But consider what children learned during that time. They acquired mastery over their native language, becoming proficient speakers. They gained insights into psychology, understanding how to both please and annoy their parents and others. They developed the skill of making friends and forged meaningful connections. They absorbed a wealth of knowledge about the physical world that surrounded them. Their insatiable curiosity and unbridled play led to extensive learning experiences. I once asserted that a significant portion of a person's lifelong knowledge is acquired before they even step into a school. If there is evidence for self-directed education beyond this, I am unaware of it. Anyone with open eyes who has observed a child's development in this manner should be able to recognize it.

Now, some individuals believe, and I've even encountered claims in developmental psychology textbooks, that this phenomenon is suitable only for young children. They argue that around the age of five or six, curiosity tends to wane, and play shifts in nature. To this, I respond, isn't it intriguing that this transformation coincides with the commencement of formal schooling? What if children didn't embark on their educational journey in a traditional school setting?"

Enjoy, learn + don't forget to give me feedback on this episode!

10 Sep 2024#53: Spiritual Sovereignty and Decentralized Consciousness – w/Caleb from Bitcoin Consciousness01:07:54

This talk, is all about consciousness! So, grab a tea, and enjoy the universe of Caleb from the Bitcoin Consciousness Community!

Decentralized Consciousness represents a world where each individual trusts in his or her highest self (the “node”) along with the flow of the universe (the “creation network”) to live, create, and flourish – completely on their own terms. We are a community of like-spirited people working to connect with our inner nodes, practicing first principles of decentralization and informing the spiritual communities about Bitcoin.“

Caleb and I already recorded an episode for his pod, and I enjoyed our conversation so much, that I wanted to have Caleb on my podcast as well!

In this episode, I chat with Caleb about the fascinating intersection of Bitcoin, science, and spirituality. We explore how Bitcoin, a digital creation, connects with spiritual concepts and emotions, transforming energy into something valuable and raising our vibrational state. Caleb introduces the idea of "energetic pendulums," suggesting Bitcoin could represent a higher vibrational force that enhances positive emotions and connections.

Of course you can find Caleb on Nostr as well :)

06 Jun 2023#9: There is something wrong with school - with Melissa from World Travel Ambitions00:48:06

Melissa from World Travel Ambitions is mum of 4 kids, and tried it all - from traditional school system, to homeschooling, unschooling, and worldschooling. In this episode of Wild Life Unschooling Podcast Melissa shares with us, how her and her family's perception and needs regarding education changed, and how the transition between the different educational approached worked out.

How does education work on the go? How much time do kids really need to actively learn in a traditional sense, and why are 10–60 minutes a day enough to keep your kid's educational journey going?

“Well, if I can do in less than an hour a day what a school can't achieve in like 6 to 8 hours a day, and then they still send homework on top. There's something wrong.”

01 Jun 2023#8: Shortcut of Feeling like giving up is ok! - with Mariana Ludmila Cortez00:20:23

You don't believe in unschooling? Education rebel Mariana Ludmila Cortez will change that. She has two unschooled kids, who are now studying in university – yes, you read that right, the two are studying like “normal” young adults.

In this episode, founder of the two educational projects Desescolarizados and Edularity, tells us how she went from homeschooling to unschooling, and why giving up on the way is perfectly normal. Also, we have a little “Bitcoin rabbit hole” moment here and there, because Mariana is as fascinated as me by the decentralized nature of the first ever cryptocurrency:

“I also got attracted about what's blockchain, and what's Bitcoin? So when I started to research what was that, it completely made sense. The philosophy, the peer-to-peer, decentralized approach. And to me, it was like an immediate connection to education, and I was like, ok that is liberty, that is how I educate my kids: peer-to-peer, decentralized.”

20 Sep 2024#54: For a smart guy he is f* stupid - w/Lea Meakin01:15:43

In this episode, I sit down with Lea, podcast host of The Conversation Junkie, for an open, raw conversation about everything from mental health and ADHD to breaking free from societal norms. We dive deep into Lea's personal journey with depression, exploring how he transformed his mindset and found his way to personal growth without relying on medication.

What we both agree on, is the magic of... ice baths, that ADHD is a superpower, and how breaking the mold of societal expectations can actually save your mental health.

We also get into some heavier topics, like the current cultural clashes in Great Britain and how media sensationalism stokes the flames of division. Lea's message is clear: we’re being manipulated to fight each other instead of uniting as humans.

And, just because we did not cover enough topics yet ;) we're going a little cosmic, we dive into the theory of the Anunnaki. 👽

From exploring untapped human potential and unlocking hidden knowledge, to rethinking traditional gender roles and the need for strong role models. Let's challenge the norm, question everything, and dig deep into the wild ride that is the human experience.

05 Apr 2024#40: Fear of failing our kids - w/Luba Vangelova from The Hub00:58:56

Like many parents, I've had moments of wondering if I'm failing my kid. I went through that same process when I began questioning the traditional school system. Initially, I worried about how school might fail my child, but then I started to consider if not following the traditional route of education would lead to failure on my part.

Taking the full responsibility for your kids' education can be scary, absolutely. But the more I let go and reflect on our fears, the more I realized - hey, nothing to be afraid of, the biggest thread to my kid is already out the way: traditional schooling.

In this episode, I'm talking to the founder of The Hub, Luba Vangelova, about the depths of this fear of failing our kids, and how to escape that fearful cycle and head into a future full of trust. Luba is an unschooling mum herself, she shares a lot about her perspective on unschooling, and of course she introduces us to The Hub, a unique learning-cohort programs for unschooled/homeschooled tweens and teens!

Enjoy!

Because when a kid gets arrested, they're still like, well, we're going to put them in a classroom inside the kid prison, and we're going to still kind of do whatever we come in a classroom. It's like you see kids in orange jumpsuits being forced to have the class inside a prison. And you're like, this really looks just like regular school, right?”

20 Nov 2023#28: Stories from an unschooled childhood (I/II) - with Summer Jean00:50:05

In this episode, I'm talking to Summer Jean! She was unschooled, and she is sharing her perspective on unschooling with us.

Really interesting is - and this is also my conclusion of the last 10 years - unschooling is not something you do or don't do in terms of education, it is more about the way you see life.

I hope you like this episode, there will be two more episodes with Summer soon - so stay tuned!

And for everyone who is listening - reach out to me! Tell me, if you like to be on the show, if you have a specific guest or topic in mind, ... share it with me ;)

29 Jun 2023#12: Family values: baseline of education - with Jimmy Song00:46:31

Welcome to the Wild Life Unschooling Podcast, where we explore alternative education and empower families to embrace unconventional paths. In this enlightening episode, join us as we engage in a captivating conversation with entrepreneur, author, proud father of six, and Bitcoin enthusiast, Jimmy Song.

With a focus on family values, and the indoctrination prevalent in traditional schooling systems, Jimmy offers a unique perspective on how unschooling can provide a powerful antidote. Jimmy shares personal anecdotes and insights into how unschooling allows families to cultivate their unique set of values, fostering a deeper connection and sense of purpose within the family unit.

Furthermore, we delve into the pervasive nature of propaganda and indoctrination within traditional schooling systems. Jimmy shines a light on the importance of critical thinking and independent learning in helping children navigate the barrage of biased information and develop a well-rounded perspective on the world.

"I promised the kids a puppy if they would come on this trip. So all during the trip they were looking up different breeds and the entire process of getting a dog, how to take care of dogs, and what to do with dogs. Those are all things they were curious about, and that's an avenue of curiosity [...] maybe that becomes a passion or something. But those are wonderful ways to sort of engage with them and help them. The stuff that we learn in school is just so damn boring, you know. A lot of times it's like, who cares?!"

As a passionate advocate for Bitcoin and its underlying principles, Jimmy draws parallels between the decentralized nature of Bitcoin and the ethos of unschooling. He explores the intersection of financial freedom, intellectual sovereignty, and independent education, demonstrating how embracing alternative paths can empower individuals and families to challenge the status quo.

09 May 2023#3: Shortcut of Expectations are ruining our lifes - with Maria Woops00:22:48

In this episode I have a very special guest visiting - my friend Maria. Maria is really doing it differently. She is breaking with the status quo, she is all about experiencing life in it´s deepest form - who are we, and what do we actually want from life? And of course these questions lead us to - does education for our kids has to be mainstream?!

Maria, mom of 4, Norway, who lived in Germany, travelled the world, now is living on the Canary Islands, moviemaker, businesswoman, wife, friend, and so much more.

I met Maria in a cave at a wild beach, where we both went “cave-camping” with our kid(s). We instantly bonded, we had some pretty nice days in the sun, we shared a wonderful camping-experience, and talked about everything and beyond.

"A few years ago we started to question our lives, our believes, the way we live, the way we work, the way we think. So we sold our house in Germany, and we went on a journey with our kids for one year to Asia, to Australia, to New Zealand, and this was a really awesome experience for us, to really trust, trust, that things are gonna be ok. And to learn what feels right for us, and not what´s expected from us from the church or from society or from my family."

In this episode, we talk about expectations, and how the expectations from outside (and sometimes inside), have an actual impact on our lives and well-being. Besides that, Maria tells us, why she wants her kids to go to school, why longterm-homeschooling or unschooling is not the right solution for her family, and why there is no perfect solution - how does the perfect life look like?

06 May 2024#43: Life is beautiful - w/Filip Karađorđević Hereditary Prince of Yugoslavia and Serbia00:50:02

Life is beautiful? Yes, because we're the masters of our future. In this episode, I'm talking to Filip Karađorđević, Hereditary Prince of Yugoslavia and Serbia, who is a known Bitcoin supporter and - of course - a supporter of free thinking, libertarian, decentralized, ... education.

Of course we're talking a bit a bout Bitcoin, but mainly about the characteristics of good money, a bit about war, inflation, hyperinflation, hyperbitcoinization ;)

But in this episode Filip is also talking about the fundamentals of decentralized education and is spreading some of his wisdom regarding libertarian lifestyle.

Here you can find more about Filip in his role as CSO at JAN3, where he is working on fueling the hyperbitcoinization.

15 Apr 2024#41: Work on your own dreams - w/Ivan Makedonski from Breez01:01:10

You already learned a lot about Bitcoin on this pod, now it’s time to climb up a layer and talk about the Lightning Network.

This episode is about #Bitcoin, focus on #Lightning, and "working on your own dreams". What does this have to do with unschooling? Everything. Because with a shitty monetary system, we don't have the time to work on our dreams, because we're too busy surviving everyday life.

Ivan Makedonski from Breez has all the answers to your Lightning questions – and probably also the final answer to why self-sovereign parents like you, need Lightning as a fast, secure and cheap payment solution, that is based on Bitcoin.

If you want to dive a bit deeper into the world of Lighting, here are some resources:

25 Apr 2023#1 - They want you to obey - with Daniel Prince01:04:36

24 May 2023#6: Discovering a decentralized university - with Amin Rafiee00:47:06

Guess who I'm talking to today, it's Amin Rafiee, the Founder of the World’s first Decentralized Autonomous University, Bittopia University. He is a huge fan of decentralization, P2P economies, privacy, and bottom-up strategies. But also is Amin international speaker and educator, bio-hacker, journalist, designer, is there something this guy is not capable of doing?

We deep dive into the topic of decentralized education, we talk about the many benefits decentralized education has, how the decentralized university works, and we elaborate, why students should be the real stakeholder of their university. Of course we fall into the Bitcoin rabbit hole here and there, and we show you, how many similarities between knowledge and currency are.

“Kowledge is currency, for me is derived from the idea that through knowledge you can absolutely transform your life. You can do anything, as long as you know how to. The entire concept of Internet is on the premise of knowledge. It's what transformed so many peoples lives and also impacted in negative ways, too. Though, knowledge has been a sense of transformation since the dawn of human existence.”

Delve into the day-to-day experiences of students and witness the incredible self-governance they exercise through the Peace and Justice Committee, where kids have the power to resolve conflicts and make important decisions.

“It's a democratic school. So the kids run the school, they organize themselves. They created a Peace and Justice Committee, so they effectively govern themselves with any issues or accidents that happen. They all serve a kind of jury duty each week. So three kids from each of the different age bands are Peace and Justice Committee.”

Ever wondered what it's like to ban devices at school? Joe sheds light on this intriguing aspect and shares the surprising insights behind it. From the anxieties parents face to the boundless potential for creativity and exploration, this conversation challenges traditional educational paradigms and encourages listeners to consider alternative approaches to learning.

Thanks for listening ❤️

In this episode, Amrit lets us fall into a very spiritual rabbit hole - we talk about soul-sucking jobs, and the beautiful alternative: listen to your calling. As Amrit puts it: Following your calling is never easy, because it's never about "opening a can"!

How can we support our kids in following their soul-path, how can we conquer our fears, and why our biggest challenges are almost always our biggest gifts?!

28 Aug 2024#52: Just grow, don't grow up - w/Tobias Eugene01:03:03

When we talk about unschooling, we also have to talk about the unschooling lifestyle. Because it’s quite clear, that for a lot of families, it’s difficult to integrate the unschooling lifestyle in society’s norms. Therefore, we’re shaping the society of the future through our own lifestyle – that means, we are discovering new ground all the time.

This is why, I sat down with Tobias Eugene, who is a freedom maxi, Bitcoiner, and working on realizing his dream of a Citadel, where a holistic and conscious lifestyle is possible. Let's see, what kind of future we are creating! <3

10 Mar 2024#37: Wild Life Unschooling meets Bitcoin Atlantis Madeira - just me/w nobody00:22:53

There is no better combination than decentralized education and decentralized money, right? So here is a little episode about our trip to the Bitcoin Atlantis Madeira conference, where I was able to speak about the universe of unschooling ❤️

And here is a short video about it ;)

05 Dec 2023#29: Stories from an unschooled childhood (II/II) - with Summer Jean01:05:21

In this episode, I'm talking to Summer Jean! She was unschooled and is sharing her perspective on unschooling with us.

What's really interesting—and this is also my conclusion from the last ten years—is that unschooling is not something you simply do or don't do in terms of education. It's more about the way you see life.

For everyone listening, reach out to me! Tell me if you'd like to be on the show or if you have a specific guest or topic in mind. Share it with me! 😉

19 Sep 2023#21: Germany, the educational dictatorship - with Ricardo Leppe01:00:54

Welcome to the "Wild Life Unschooling Podcast." In this episode, we have a special guest, Ricardo Leppe, from the project "Willkommen bei WISSEN SCHAFFT FREIHEIT" (Welcome to Knowledge Creates Freedom).

We discuss how the project challenges traditional educational structures, provides free access to education globally, empowers individuals to choose their learning paths, and aims to create a better future through education.

At the same time, we talk about different compulsory schooling systems from around the world - and it seems that Germany is educational hell?!

"In my opinion, it's one of the strictest forms of governance, particularly when it comes to education, in the world. Maybe North Korea has a more oppressive system, but I can't speak to that as I've never been there. From my perspective, Germany has one of the harshest approaches. I haven't witnessed anything similar in any other country. In other nations, attending school is mandatory, and you're required to do so. However, it's not quite the same as in Germany. In Germany, if you don't send your children to school, sometimes the police will show up at your doorstep as early as the next day. If you disagree with them, they can even take your children away." Luckily, Ricardo is convinced, that the new form of education comes from Germany, and will inspire the world! ;)

Join us for this thought-provoking episode, where we explore alternative learning techniques and brain-friendly learning methods for children.

To create factory workers. It was created to take all the vision and enthusiasm and delight out of kids and make them follower, don’t question authority, do your job and assemble plastic parts at the plane factory."

Mark Yusko, a visionary investor and founder of Morgan Creek Digital, goes beyond the traditional financial landscape to explore the fascinating world of Bitcoin. Discover how his passion for Bitcoin transcends mere economics and delves into the realm of love. 24 Oct 2023#26: Restoring masculinity - with Chris Hargreaves01:07:02

This time it's all about men and boys - because we need strong men! And through unschooling we can change the narrative, support our little boys to grow into strong, healthy men.

22 May 2023#5: Shortcutof Discovering a decentralized university - with Amin Rafiee00:20:16

10 Oct 2023#24: Why we love decentralization - with "V" from The Bitcoin Way01:00:01

Initially, I started this podcast to take a closer look at the connection between decentralized education and decentralized finance - unschooling and Bitcoin. The last few episodes, Bitcoin wasn't even mentioned once. And this is why this episode, is all about sound money, the beauty of decentralization, and what this has to do with escaping forced education.

Join "V" from The Bitcoin Way and me, to fall a little bit deeper into the decentralization rabbit hole.

11 Oct 2024#56: Breaking bread together - w/Denys Troyak from Satoshi Island01:00:42

In this episode, I sit down with Denys Troyak, a visionary behind Satoshi Island, a decentralized utopia in Vanuatu.

This time, it’s all about personal growth, community building, and emotional well-being, exploring how Satoshi Island aims to create a sustainable and regenerative community focused on planetary health, financial well-being, and personal fulfillment.

And as Denys explains: we need to change the world, and we need to start with us. So, for me, Satoshi Island is one of the pioneering projects that show us today, how freedom maxis might live tomorrow.

We discuss the importance of slowing down, connecting with nature, and finding happiness within, rather than through material or societal pressures. Denys shares his personal transformation through a simpler life in Vanuatu and how it has deepened his understanding of community and well-being.

"Why don't we smile more? Why don't we hug more? Well, it's, you know, it's, it's because we're disconnected." – Denys

And of course, we also touch base on the unschooling part – traditional education is "one fits all" approach, that doesn’t fit at all. As unschooling is not so much about our kids, but about ourselves, this episode is about self-observation, humor, and love, to make us the best coaches for our free ranged, wild kids <3

17 Oct 2023#25: Freedom education - with Manisha Snoyer00:47:23

Manisha Snoyer is hosting her own educational podcast, "Teach your Kids" - and this episode is all about "unschooling podcast host to unschooling podcast host".

Of course we deep dive a bit into the whys, hows and whats, but what I really want to highlight is, how aligned Manisha is with what she does - and it shows! She is an awesome educator, she is helping so many families switching to the unschooling lifestyle and is creating wonderful safe places for the wild kids out there.

21 May 2024#44: History in school vs. history irl - w/ancient history researcher Derek Olson01:10:34

Derek Olson, a wonderful ancient history researcher, who is digging deep into humanity’s history, reveiling the true history that looks very different from the official version that is taught in schools.

What does this have to do with unschooling you may ask yourself. This kind of knowledge we should teach our kids, instead of the propagandized version that is being taught in school. And I hope that Derek gives you lots of interesting points to deep dive much further into humanity’s history, together with your kids.

There is still a lot to discover.

And, as you know me now already a bit, you know that I’m all in when it comes to search for the truth and to the question „wtf are we doing on this planet“. Not only as a collective, but also as individuals. For me, looking into humanity’s history, is one part of falling into this rabbit hole.

The best part: You can go on real life research adventures with Derek. Isn't this the best type of education?!

10 May 2023#4: Expectations are ruining our lifes - with Maria Woops00:42:03

28 Jun 2023#11: Separation of education and state - with Andrew Howard00:55:27

Why are there so many Bitcoiners into unschooling? Because Bitcoin and unschooling are following the same path: the separation of things and state.

In this episode, I'm talking to Andrew Howard, Chief Business Development Officer of Bitcoin Reserve and author at Bitcoin Magazine, about how indoctrination and propaganda in schools are motivating more and more families to build their own parallel structure for the education of their kids - unschooling.

“I think we're seeing a common trend, which is the separation of things and state. So we had the printing press released in sometime in the 1500 [...] that led to the separation of church and state. And Bitcoin, released on October 31, 2008, is leading to the separation of money and state. And right now, unless you want your child to be a gay communist, then we're going to see the separation of education and state.”

Andrew is one of the Bitcoin influencers, you don't want to miss. With his great passion for the financial revolution and his strong sense for a lifestyle based on freedom, Andrew brings a unique perspective on how unschooling can foster independent and critical thinking, paving the way for success in the ever-evolving digital landscape.

Whether you're a parent considering alternative education options or simply curious about challenging societal norms, this episode offers a captivating exploration of unschooling. Andrew Howard's thought-provoking perspectives, intertwined with personal anecdotes and practical insights, make for an enlightening conversation that will inspire you to reimagine education and unlock the full potential of independent minds.

Tune in to this enlightening episode and discover how unschooling, guided by the wisdom of Andrew Howard, can shape the future of education and empower individuals to thrive in a rapidly changing world.

In this episode, I'm speaking to Peggy Webb, Founder and Director of West River Academy.

West River Academy, founded in 1993, offers families worldwide the freedom to make their own educational decisions, allowing children to explore their innate life purposes and passions. The school converts natural learning experiences into academic credit, providing annual enrollment, official transcripts, and high school graduation, creating a supportive environment for students to thrive outside traditional educational constraints.

17 Jun 2024#46: A lot of unschooling questions - w/Rick01:10:29

At the Bitcoin Atlantis Conference in Madeira, I met a fantastic Bitcoiner - Rick, who has a little kid and is now diving deep into the world of decentralized education. We had an awesome talk at the conference about how decentralized education aligns with the principles of unschooling and Bitcoin. Rick's enthusiasm and insights were truly inspiring, and we both felt that sharing our conversation with other unschoolers could ignite some incredible ideas and transformations in the education world. So here we go! ❤️

21 Oct 2024#57: Smoking crack - w/Keye Martin01:22:20

Keye Martin, independent mathematician and writer - I stumbled upon his work on LinkedIn, and immediately thought, I need more of him: "I’m writing this for my students, some of which are probably wondering where the fuck I went. On Monday October 2, a little while before my first class, two people came to my office and said that I was being placed on administrative leave due to complaints that my manner of communication was “unprofessional”." What inspired me, is the fact, that someone so fcking intelligent is being called "unprofessional" - because I have been there, I'm the "unprofessional" one, and I really wanted to talk to another "unprofessional" ;)

And this is how it started, just fyi, as Keye mentions this conversation at the end of the podcast:

Alex Ko  12:53 PM

Hey Keye, Alex here regarding the unschooling podcast :)

Keye Martin  12:35 AM

Cool. Questions about your podcast:
1) Is your podcast an absolute free speech zone?
2) Do you stream video or only audio?
3) Do you edit episodes before posting them?
4) Is it possible to describe what "unschooling" is in a few simple sentences?
5) Can you send me a link to an episode of yours that you think is "representative" i.e. it doesn't have to be the "best" or the "worst" but just something that conveys the vibe.

Alex Ko  9:31 AM

1. yes

2. however you like, I'm flexible

3. yes, but only cleaning the audio quality, not editing content

4. yes: Unschooling is an educational philosophy that allows children to direct their own learning through their interests, rather than following a fixed curriculum. It is all about child-led learning, let the kids follow their own interests and passions, and set them completely free. Unschooling relies on the belief that learning occurs naturally through everyday experiences and interactions, and is based on trust in the abilities of your kids to learn what they need to learn, in a very flexible approach with you as their coach aka. parents.

5. my favorite episode, great guest, honest vibe: https://fountain.fm/episode/W4FZJWlZOA8r8KotlQEf

13 Jun 2023#10: Feeling like giving up is ok! - with Mariana Ludmila Cortez00:36:06

07 Feb 2024#33: Unschooling Sri Lanka, they can't stop us, we're everywhere - with Nelum Wijayasekara 01:10:40

And this time an awesome episode of an unschooling journey in Sri Lanka! Nelum might be the first radical unschooling mum in Sri Lanka, and is sharing her journey with us - from why and when she started free education and how that changed her whole lifestyle, relationships and self.

I really enjoyed talking to Nelum - I hope you enjoy listening to our conversation. My favorite moment? When Nelum explains, that you don't HAVE to answer all these people's questions about your life, and how much unschooling changes every detail of... well, everything? :)

Check out Nelum's work here, it's absolutely amazing what this mum of 4 is pulling off!

14 Nov 2024#58: Is unschooling in danger? - w/Pat Farenga01:06:44

I'm getting more and more nervous about unschooling at the place we live, as the governmental regulations are tightening and repression is getting worse. And I thought I'm alone, turns out, I'm not!

Pat Farenga is already the second time on my podcast, and this is for a reason. Let's call him one of the most important free schooling advocates. Check out his work HERE!
