Who's He? Podcast (Phil Cannon)

In this, the first podcast of 2019, Phil and Paul tackle this years (or last years if you're Phil) New Years Day special, Resolution. And of course the worlds worst kept secret came true as we saw the return of the Daleks! But was everyone happy with this special? Was it indeed a special or the actual last episode of series 11?

In the news, we say goodbye to June Whitfield and Bill Sellars, there is missing episode audio news, Omega's Stats Corner and finally some news about the Who's He? Podcast!

It's audio commentary time yet again and this week it's part 2 of our commentary for The Krotons, the fondly remembered fan favourite (I mean the story, not part 1 of this commentary.  That was last week by the way.) that nobody really remembers very fondly.  So this week they continue with episodes 3 and 4 and struggle manfully with walking cheese graters with Brummie accents and a man dressed as a tortoise.  No that wasn't one of Tony's "facts", that it is what they are watching.  So tune in to listen to 3 grown men sitting in silence for long periods of time and only coming alive when something exciting happens or when they get a sniff of beer.

And there's no news this week as they couldn't be bothered. No not really, not a lot happened to be honest.

This week Phil and Paul take a look back at the Agatha Christie murder mystery romp The Unicorn And The Wasp. This is an episode that neither Paul nor Phil were particuarly interested in watching again even though fandom would tell them this is a good story. Has time changed their minds? Will the comedic aspects of the script cheer them up or will they remain their usual miserable selves? (Well, Phil is the miserable one really).

Meanwhile, in the news this week, there was a gathering of five Doctors, an official photo was released of the Doctor and his new companion, Bill Nighy reveals that he didn't want the role of the Doctor and a fan poll reveals their favourite Doctor Who monster EVER!!

Live from London, the Who's He? Podcast team of Phil & Paul who both live in London, return to their ongoing series 2 retrospective with a look at The Impossible Planet which doesn't take place in London. This is a classic of Who so do the lads both feel that this is still a classic or does the fact this story isn't set in London hurt it somewhat? They also wander off topic and start discussing Disney's The Black Hole and both marvel at the wonderful London accents used by the actors.

And in the news this week, a Doctor Who 3D film event that disgustingly won't be shown in London and BARB will take into account online viewing figures, especially those in London.

Exciting news for fans of missing episode animations as it's announced that Fury From The Deep will be animated and released in 2020, the blu-ray edition of Season 12 will be getting a re-release and we say goodbye to actor Stephen Moore who sadly passed away.

Review - The Sinestran Kill

This month, Phil and Paul look at The Sinestran Kill from Big Finish. In a tale of witness protection, 1970's policing and London gangsters, this story also introduces a new companion for the 4th Doctor which seems to put a spring in Tom Bakers step!

On this weeks show, Phil and Paul decide to look at the beady eye of an evil member of the crow family and Face The Raven! Yes, this is the big one folks, Clara Oswald has left the building! Or has she? Join Phil and Paul in the podcasting equivalent of a trap street and listen to them ponder over the merits of Ashildr's plan to entice the Doctor into her web of deceit and was this a good exit for Jenna Coleman and will she back?

And in the news this week, extended run times for Heaven Sent and Hell Bent, a possible R1 DVD release for The Underwater Menace and of course, stats.

Now that there is no more new Doctor Who, the lads go back to their series 5 retrospective with The Time Of Angels. Nothing can be found wrong with this story as both Phil and Paul enjoyed revisiting this episode and both wax lyrical as to how great it is. Shame about the news section though. In another slow news week, they start off well with the Matt Smith leaving rumours and then end up shamelessly padding things out by talking about Jon Pertwee whilst on a trip down Doctor Who memory lane. All together now, "Memories....like the corners of my mind...."

After a two week break the podcast that no-one listens to makes its triumphant return with a review of The Angels Take Manhattan.  What will Paul and Phil make of the Ponds departure from Doctor Who?  Do they think series 7a finished with a bang or a whimper?  Is Phil still a miserable old sod or has he cheered up over the last 14 days? (NO!)  Will Paul try to temper Phil's wild conspiracy theories? (YES!)  

And in the news this week, and Australian MP wants Doctor Who to flim down under, news from the Recon event and Omega's Tat Corner rears its ugly head once more!

The Doctors arch nemesis is back in episode 2 of series 8, Into The Dalek.  Does this story add anything new to the Dalek mythos and does it make the nations favourite bad guys bad again or reduced to fairground ride status?  Join Phil and Paul as they dissect this story from the returning pen of Phil Ford (and Steven Moffat) and look inside a good Dalek.  Or a bad Dalek, a shy Dalek, a coy Dalek, an embarrassed Dalek, a coquettish Dalek, a romantic Dalek....(alright, get on with it!)

And in the news, the sad passing of Bill Kerr which leads Paul and Phil to reminisce about the golden age of British radio comedy and yep, you guessed it, more stats!!

This week and with some trepidation, the Who's He? Podcast reviewing duo take a look at The Caretaker, episode 6 of series 8 of Doctor Who. But why the trepidation? Well, Phil is not exactly Gareth Roberts biggest fan, so his usually well balanced (ahem) critique is under scrutiny, while Paul is much more reserved and ponders over the plot and wonders whether the alien of the week needed to be there at all? And Phil gets caught off guard by being pleasantly surprised not once but twice!

And in the news, the sad loss of Maggie Stables, more stats than you can handle, more DVD news and in Omega's Tat Corner it's rare tat time and quite possibly the most expensive and biggest item of tat ever!

A stunned and mostly silent Paul and Phil are back with their views on Torchwood: Miracle Day episode 5. The reason they are stunned and silent (well, to begin with) is that they both enjoyed this episode. Who'd have thought it possible!! However, whilst discussing how Oswald Danes character is fitting into the story, it gives Phil a chance to rant against the cult of celebrity and Paul a chance to come up with a tagline for the podcast. Oh and Paul forgets how to talk and Phil comes up with a solution to his predicament.

In the second of this weeks podcasts, Phil and Paul cast their eye over episode 9 of Torchwood: Miracle Day. Will Phil ever really enjoy this series or is he destined to spend the remainder of this days a bitter and twisted individual planning ways to get the hours back that he spent watching this? Will Paul ever lose his composure or will he remain calm, collected and continue to enjoy this series of Torchwood not matter what it's faults may be? Tune in to this episode to find out!

The Seeds of Doom Review - Redacted

In this bonus episode of the Who's He? Podcast, they have been forced to release a redacted version of their review of The Seeds of Doom due to an ongoing investigation into Phil and Pauls conduct during the recording of this episode.

The full episode will be released in due course.

This week Phil and Paul return to the Destiny of The Doctor audio series with a review of the seventh Doctor story Shockwave.  In fact this has to be one of their shortest reviews they've ever done!  This usually means one of two things - they both hated it or they both loved it!

But what takes up all their time this week?  Two weeks worth of news and a chat about the Doctor Who Prom they went to last week that's what!  DVD blu-ray boxsets, BBC financial reports and comments made about the 50th Anniversary Special the Moff himself.  But not only that, there is a bumper edition of Omega's Tat Corner featuring cake and potato based tat!

As 2023 is the year of Doctor Who's 60th Anniversary, join Phil and a returning Scott as they chat about the first of the Doctor Who Anniversary Specials, The Three Doctors.

Starring Jon Pertwee, Patrick Troughton and William Hartnell, energy emanating from a black hole targets UNIT headquarters searching for the 3rd Doctor. With this energy also threatening the Time Lords and the universe itself, the Time Lords send the 1st and 2nd Doctors to assist and discover the threat is from Omega, a long thought dead Time Lord who now exists in an anti-matter realm and is now hell bent on revenge.

During their discussion, Scott raises the subject of what happened to the Brigadier in this story and his dislike of CSO, before going off on a tangent on animated stories and Phil gives thanks to this story for contributing to the Who's He? Podcast.

So here we are folks, we've come to the end of Doctor Who: Flux, Chapter 6, The Vanquishers. But did it tie up all those plot threads? Well, both Phil and Paul are a bit confused with this one and resort to saying "I don't know" one heck of a lot! Phil also takes Paul down the rabbit hole of whether Doctor Who should be catering to fandom with shipping of the Doctor and companion and more or less reach the conclusion they are both too old this s**t!

Also for this last time year the lads bring you the latest in stats news without a hint of apology.

After thinking they would never get this done, the reviewing duo of Paul and Phil finally get round to airing their views on episode 1 of Torchwood: Miracle Day. Were they disappointed? Did it live up to Children Of Earth? Did it have the cleaning power of bleach? All these questions are answered inside this weeks episode of the Who's He? Podcast!

In this weeks show, Phil, Paul and Tony continue with their commentary for The Gunfighters with episodes 3 & 4. And yet again they struggle to get through another 2 episodes of barely concealed English accents but they do bring you facts from the day of the original broadcast to liven things up and stop themselves dying from boredom.

And in a replacement for the news, Phil and Paul take the opportunity to look back 26th March 2005 when Rose was broadcast in a small celebration of the 10th anniversary of Doctor Who returning to our screens.

In this edition of the Who's He? Podcast, Phil and Paul return once again to the literary world with a review of the Target novelisation of The Image of The Fendahl.  Probably one of the last great gothic horror Doctor Who stories produced in the 1970's, the lads compare the novel to the TV incarnation and discuss the merits of Terrance Dicks expanding of characters and also whether some of the more notorious aspects of this story make to the page.

And in another slow news week, 2 more writers are announced for series 8, Doctor Who picks up 2 BAFTA's in ceremony that is held in a pub (or so Phil and Paul like to think) and in Omega's Tat Corner, 2 items of tat, one of which gets Phil excited.

This week Phil and not so much Paul sit on their chairs with their feet up off the floor in terror to look at episode 4 of Doctor Who, Arachnids in the UK. So after 3 pretty solid episodes, does this story make it 4 out of 4 for our reviewing duo or does it get flushed down the sink like all spiders should (according to Phil that is)?

And in the news this week we say goodbye to ex Doctor Who producer Derrick Sherwin, there's stats in Omega's Stats Corner and there is tat of the sweetie kind in Omega's Tat Corner that causes Phil and Paul to become confused.

After an extremely long period, it's audio commentary time!  This go around, Phil, Paul and a returning Tony tackle The Daemons, episodes 1 & 2 in the first of a two part commentary.  And even after such a long time between commentaries, the three of them have learnt nothing.  It's still shambolic and they barely pay any attention to what they are watching as Tony unleashes his "facts" on Matthew Corbett and his contribution to the set design of The Daemons and thrill as they watch a U.N.I.T member phone a chat line.

And in a very slapdash news section this week, they cast their eyes over the 50th Anniversary trailer shown on Saturday night, Moffat's teasing over the amount of regenerations, what really happened with that casting rumour on Ben Daniels, some 50th Anniversary cocktails and in Omega's Tat Corner there is one helluva lot of mintage.

Scott's Short Reviews - Invasion of The Dinosaurs

The Doctor and Sarah Jane arrive on Earth in the midst of the chaos and begin investigating the cause of temporal disturbances that make dinosaurs appear on the streets of London. They discover that a group of scientists, led by the renegade scientist Professor Whitaker, are behind the scheme. They are using a device called the "time reversal" to bring dinosaurs to the present day, with the intention of "cleansing" the Earth by erasing the technological advancements that they believe have led to its decline.

In this edition of the Who's He? Podcast, Phil and Paul review Seasons of Fear from Big Finish. This 8th Doctor story featuring Paul McGann and India Fisher as Charlie Pollard sees the Doctor chasing a foe through the history of Britain who is working for an old foe. Now, while the returning foe is revealed in their spoilerific review, Paul recounts how Phil ruined the reveal for him with a simple text message!

And in the news, Phil and Paul catch up with what has been happening and it's quite a bit actually! Peter Capaldi gives away when Doctor Who will return to our screens next year, Power of The Daleks has been animated, when Class will be airing on BBC3 and Christopher Eccleston regretting not doing a 2nd series.

And breathe!

Just for a change, a Tony-less Who's He? team review the quite brilliant opening two episodes of series 6, The Impossible Astronaut and The Day Of The Moon and also pay tribute to Elisabeth Sladen who sadly passed away after recording our 2nd show.

Not only that but Phil takes issue with fans who make theories about character developments whilst ignoring all the facts and Paul struggles with a football injury!

This weeks episode of the Who's He? Podcast starts off strangely as Paul is off out and about and it's left down to Phil to present the quickest news section ever for this podcast. And all he can talk about is whinging Doctor Who fans angry at the news that Steven Moffat has signed up for series 10 and talk of the 12th Doctor fancying Clara in series 9. But let's face it, Phil loves talking about whinging fans.

But once the news is out of the way, it's down to business and Phil and a returning Paul discuss Master, the 3rd in the 40th Anniversary trilogy from Big Finish in 2003.  So after enjoying Davros last time, will this be 2 out of 3 for enjoyment or will this join Omega in the not great category? But in a tale of lost memories, spooky houses, serial killers and Death itself, what's not to enjoy? Tune in to find out!

After leaving you all on a cliff hanger last week, it's the return of Phil, Paul and Tony with part 2 of their audio commentary for Dalek Invasion of Earth!!  What's in store for you all this week?  Well folks, it's the same as last week, awful puns, Tony's facts and long bouts of silence.  However, this is all interspersed with a long ramble about Toffo's, recounting who's still alive from Are You Being Served and Tony manages to offend Hewlett Packard.

Death to the Daleks | Audio Commentary Part 1

After putting the vote to our listeners, Phil and Scott sat down to record part one of an audio commentary for Death to the Daleks starring Jon Pertwee as the Doctor with Elisabeth Sladen as Sarah Jane Smith. With the Doctor and Sarah Jane stranded on the planet Exxilon, they stumble across a grumpy Scotsman and a ships captain with an ill fitting wig. And to make matters worse the Daleks turn up as well!

Marvel as Phil tries (and fails) to explain to Scott how the Doctors companions were written in the 1970's, just before Sarah lamps an Exxilon round the lughole with a starting handle and how Phil used to play Doctor Who as a nipper. Oh and Scott does a swear.

Dim the lights, close all the windows and dust down your DVD players as it's audio commentary time! This month, Paul, Tony and Phil are tackling the behemoth that is Warriors Of The Deep. They've tried this one before and failed miserably, so they've deployed all sorts of lucky tokens about their persons to make sure this one goes off without a hitch. Even then it was still touch and go.

Also, in this weeks news, Steven Moffat want to keep the Doctors new companion a complete secret, a little bit of DVD news and the lads get angry at certain 'fans' reactions to the airing this week of the Blue Peter Script to Screen winners story, Good As Gold.  Now stop laughing at the Myrka, you know how fragile he is!

This week Phil and Paul kick off another series retrospective with a look at New Earth from series 2 and the beginning of David Tennants first full series.  Listen to hear how Phil and Paul now feel about this story and whether this was good or bad series opener.  And also gasp in horror as Phil letches after Billie Piper for one episode only and Paul has an identity crisis of his own.

And in the news, some more casting news for series 8 which makes Phil fear for the return of men in extremely short shorts, a David Tennant celebration in the US and Peter Capaldi makes the front cover of the Radio Times.

After quite a few false starts, the Who's He? trio managed to get their act together and bring you an audio commentary for the third Doctor story The Time Warrior.  Marvel as Phil and Paul set Tony a little quiz throughout the story and shake your heads in disappointment as they shamelessly plug breweries in the vain hope they will be sent a few crates of beer. All this plus Tony devises a system to remember actors names.

In this episode of the Who's He? Podcast, Phil and Paul return once again to the written word of Target with a look at Doctor Who and The Loch Ness Monster by Terrance Dicks. Based on Terror of The Zygons, a classic of Doctor who, Phil and Paul critique the changes made between screen and book and does it also add up to be a classic in written form also?

Also this week, Phil talks to composer and DJ Dominic Glynn who most of you should know rearranged the Doctor Who theme for season 23. Amongst other things, Dominic talks of his time working on the show and who and what inspired him to become a composer. Don't miss it!

This episode Phil and Scott settled down to watch the new and shiny version of Horror of Fang Rock from the recent Season 15 blu-ray collection. New effects, screaming ladies and plenty of fog is the order of the day with Tom Baker and Louise Jameson on fine form.

They also go through the number of changes made to the special effects (spoilers ahoy!) and Phil takes Scott through a quick potted history of producer Graham Williams and touches upon how awkward Tom Baker was towards him.

For this years Christmas podcast, Phil and Scott select their favourite Doctor Who Christmas Special. After much mulling over and research (yeah, right!) Scott goes for The Christmas Invasion from 2005 and forgets to put his teeth in and Phil selects the 2012 Christmas special The Snowmen and discusses why the Victorian era Clara Oswald would have made a better companion than modern era Clara!

In this short edition of the Who's He? Podcast, Phil reviews (in a non spoiler way of course!) the Doctor Who novel Scratchman written by Tom Baker with James Goss.

Live from Cardiff, it's the Who's He? Podcast's coverage of the official Doctor Who Convention!! Well, ok, it's not live but in Cardiff they were and Phil & Paul attempt to give you a flavour of what it was like to be at the BBC's first stab at a convention since the 1980's. Was it any good? Once again it's time to for Phil and Paul to return to series 2 with their ongoing retrospective and The Age Of Steel. But after a few weeks of happiness, the podcast comes down to earth with a bump as while they find this is quite enjoyable, there is a lot wrong with it, especially for Phil who wears his grumpy face throughout this episode, with talk of Cybermen that can tip-toe and what was the point of Cybus anyway?

And Phil also keeps his grumpy face on during the news whilst talking about the return of Osgood in series 9 but gets a lot happier towards the end with the news that Doctor Who will be making an appearance in an upcoming LEGO video game.

Scott once again takes on reading duties as he reads out listener feedback received for Eve of the Daleks.

On this weeks edition of the Who's He? Podcast they've gone beige with an audio commentary for episodes 1 and 2 of Castrovalva.  During the dissection of this story, they bravely try to bring you facts of the day of original broadcast and make Tony play the guess the ratings game.  The lads are also fuelled with wine which causes Phil to make a rather naughty comment!

And in the news, they catch up all the leaks from the BBC, news of a BFI showing of Deep Breath and in Omega's Tat Corner, action figures that seem to get worse the more they make.

In this weeks episode it's all go as since the lads have been away, we have had a new trailer for series 11 and a confirmed air date of Sunday 7th October for Jodie Whittaker's debut as the Doctor! So Paul and Phil are quite excited about this but this wouldn't be the Who's He? Podcast without Phil voicing some concerns!

Ho ho ho!! Welcome to the Who's He? Podcast Christmas Special as once again the Doctor Who specials of Christmas past are plundered to reveal The Christmas Invasion featuring the full debut of David Tennant as the Doctor. Join Ebeneezer Phil and Frosty Paul as they reminisce about the first Doctor Who Christmas special since The Feast of Steven and ponder whether this story required more of the Doctor and whether this is a stuffed tasty turkey of a Christmas story or a certifiable plum duff?

In this weeks show, Phil and Paul look at Omega from Big Finish. This story was the first in a trilogy to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Doctor Who in 2003 and this tale featuring the 5th Doctor saw him going up against his old nemesis, Omega. But how does this hold up today? Well, if their reaction is anything to go by, not very well! And Phil is let down by Caroline Munro which makes him sad.

And in the news this week, the sad passing of another Who actor, the Saturn Awards nominations are announced, the Horror Channel comes to Freeview (which means Doctor Who for all) and in Omega's Tat Corner it's board game mania!

After a couple of months, an audio commentary makes a welcome return to the Who's He? Podcast and they've selected The Twin Dilemma.  What's wrong with them?!!  During the course of the commentary they try to keep their spirits up by comparing the titular twins to Phil Collins and Mestor to Don Estelle with a little bit of Al Jolson thrown in for good measure.  But this one isn't pretty folks, oh no this is full of deep hurting, so if you want to hear three podcasting suffering collectively, then this is for you!!

The lads get their teeth into Neil Gaimans highly anticipated story, Nightmare In Silver, that promised to make the Cybermen scary again.  Well, that is certainly a bold claim and not one that goes unchallenged!  Oh no, Phil and Paul have differing views on this weeks episode which leads to Phil having an internal struggle before the leprechaun on his shoulder tells him to burn stuff, while Paul does his best to change Phil's mind only to fail miserably.  Phil also takes a moment this week to think of Jeri Ryan as Seven of Nine.  A very long moment in fact.  There is also a lot of talk about fanwank that could lead to blindness and they also briefly talk about She Said, He Said, the epilogue (yes, epilogue!) to The Name of The Doctor.

And in this weeks news, in the absence of any overnight viewing figures for Nightmare In Silver they make some up instead, news on showings for the blu-ray editions of the Peter Cushing Dalek films and in 50th Anniversary news, a photo of Matt Smith that has set tongues wagging and John Hurt lets the cat out of the bag which Phil and Paul talk about.  Sort of.

After what seems like an eternity, Phil and Paul return their retrospective of series 3 with a look back at Utopia.  With what is widely regarded as one the best episodes of Doctor Who since it's revival in 2005, does it still excite or has time not been kind to this story of The Masters resurrection?  While Paul is still under the weather and Phil at one point comes over all James Lipton (I just read that back.  Eurgh!), the lads certainly have a lot to talk about!

In this edition of the Who's He? Podcast, Phil and Paul look at Minuet in Hell from Big Finish. In this tale of debauchery, lost identities and American politics, both Phil and Paul remain astounded at the bad accents on display but also the majesty of a Nicholas Courtney performance that lifts a very average Doctor Who story.

But in the news this week, rumours that series 10 will not air in 2016 which leads Paul and Phil to discuss the many theories that tag along with this rumour, Reece Shearsmith is cast in series 9 of Doctor Who and NASA prove they have nothing better to do than name craters on a moon after their favourite sci-fi characters.

After what seems like years, Phil and Paul return to their series 2 retrospective with a look at Rise Of The Cybermen. How do the pair of them feel about this story after all these years and did it stand up as a reboot of the iconic Doctor Who villain? They discuss these topics whilst also comparing the Preachers to Citizen Smith which causes Paul to delve into Google.

And in the news, the pair of them try bravely to discuss a potential spoiler without actually telling anyone what the spoiler is and in Omega's Tat Corner it's time for Pop-tastic figures and some really expensive bluetooth speakers.

In this weeks edition of the Who's He? Podcast, the intrepid reviewing duo of Phil and Paul press their ears against the radiogram to listen to Crime of The Century from Big Finish. In this 7th Doctor story set during what would have been series 27 had the show not been cancelled back in the day, the lads marvel at Sylvester McCoy's trapped in a box acting and despair at the alien villains talking like surfer dudes. In this episode Scott suggested that they do something a bit different for the podcast and suggested a commentary for The Sarah Jane Adventures. So Scott picked Revenge of The Slitheen to watch and while Phil wasn't too keen (he doesn't like the Slitheen!), Scott gets quite into it by breaking wind and stinking the room out which is a first for the podcast!

The 50th anniversary celebrations have begun!!  In this special episode we review the anniversary offering from Big Finish in the form their multi Doctor story Light At The End.  Will this story improve upon previous multi Doctor stories or will it be another jumbled mess attempting to cram in as many continuity references as humanly possible?  Never fear though as Phil and Paul give your their usual forthright opinion and Phil makes a complete balls up of explaining the plot!

After a no show with the podcast last week, episode 84 finally gets made but not what was advertised in the previous episode.  Oh no, they've gone and done an audio commentary instead and this month it's Dalek Invasion of Earth episodes 1 to 3.  During the commentary hear, feel and hit Tony as he makes Phil deploy the dreaded swear beep for the second time in the podcasts history!  Thrill as Paul wishes everyone a Merry Christmas and gasp in horror as Phil makes jokes about onanism!  But make no mistake, any diversity training they might have had went straight out the window!

And in the news this week, the Doctor Who Christmas Special prologue and trailer aired on Children In Need where we all found out the name of this years special, Doctor Who is up for a People's Choice award, Steven Moffat wins a Writers Guild Award (though none of them can figure out what for) and Alex Kingston reads the Angels Kiss that they all treat with complete indifference.

In yet another quiet month of news, a nice surprise is to be had in the form of a special edition blu ray for Power of the Daleks and Big Finish continue to create content during the lockdown with a new 4th Doctor story starring Tom Baker

Review - Mawdryn Undead

This month Phil and Paul take a look at Mawdryn Undead in its written and televised formats. With a story that neither of them particular thought much of, did a rewatch and read of the Target novelisation change their opinion? And how did the story serve the introduction of Turlough to the Tardis crew? Well, there is one thing they can both agree on and that anything with added Nicholas Courtney is a bonus!

Well, after the lads had finished recording, the news broke that Peter Capaldi announced that he was leaving the role of the Doctor. Despite being caught on the hop, this not entirely unexpected turn of events never the less shocked certain fans but also there was the earth shattering news that Sir John Hurt sadly passed away and we also lost Philip Bond.

But once the news is discussed, it's down to business with their review of the Target novelisation of The Curse of Peladon by Brian Hayles. This is story is held in high regard by both Phil and Paul and never more relevant than it has ever been, so it was with some trepidation that Paul approached this story as he didn't want to get caught out by an appearance of King Peladon's thigh boots!

Paul is back from his holidays feeling refreshed and gets straight back into the swing of things and joins Phil to look at The Planet Of The Ood. Phil finds this one a bit of a slog to review but livens things up for himself by doing a Sid James impression, while Paul concentrates on the plot and the the social messages that this episode was trying to convey.

Also, as a special treat, Tony joins Phil and Paul for the news section which was recorded in the pub while celebrating Pauls birthday. However, Tony being Tony, he gets easily distracted and goes hunting for alien lifeforms in a bowl of wasabi peanuts and Phil gets in another impression, this time the Kinder egg advert from the 1980's. Me scrooble now!

At last!!  After 8 months Phil and Paul have new Doctor Who to review in the shape of Asylum Of The Daleks!  And with the new series, they introduce a new ratings system to the podcast (though how long this will last is anyones guess).  What do they think of the series opener?  Are the Daleks truly scary again or they just the same old easily beaten dustbins?  And why does Phil bring Sir Digby Chicken Caesar into the conversation?

Also, in this week news the tabloids get it wrong again and in Omega's Tat Corner the discussion turns into a question of width (ooer!).

In this weeks episode, Phil and Paul take a look at another Target novelisation with Doctor Who And The Dinosaur Invasion by Malcom Hulke. This is a story that both Paul and Phil love with a plot that has more twists and turns than a twisty turny thing and rubbish puppet dinosaurs. So did this book change any of those plots twists and did it go to any lengths to address the dinosaur factor? What did they find in addition were drunken Scotsmen, no cars of vanity and Phil trying to convince Paul of a what he believes to be a major change to one of the characters.

And in this news, more cast names and the episode total for Series 9, Doctor Who wins a BAFTA amd in Omega's Tat Corner it's pricey tat that both Phil and Paul would like to own.

Review - Rogue

I think we guessed that this weeks episode of Doctor Who, Rogue would be divisive for some. However, what is surprising is that Paul and Phil are divided over their opinions on this story. Phil reveals that he has no soul and has a cold, dead heart while Paul embraces the love on display. But with owl people, a long forgotten Doctor and a love story thrown together into the mix, does the story hang together or is it as threadbare as pair of well worn britches?

Also, the lads pay tribute to William Russell who sadly passed away at the age of 99.

In this edition of the Who's He? Podcast, Phil and Paul return to their series 2 retrospective with Love and Monsters. Yes, the pair of them were not looking forward to rewatching this not particularly well received story from Russell T. Davies, with Phil dreading having to watch Peter Kay and Paul dreading having to watch Marc Warren. But which one of them changed their mind about their least favourite actor and did either of them change their mind about this story?

And in a very slow news week, Steven Moffat receives an OBE and also lets slip that he is writing the 2017 Christmas special which leads Phil and Paul (with no authority at all) to announce that this will be Peter Capaldi's regeneration story. And in Omega's Tat Corner, it's blu-ray tat that everyone already owns.
