THE MODERN REFEREE In professional wrestling, a referee is an authority figure present in or near the ring during matches. The referee's purpose is similar to that of referees in combat sports such as boxing or mixed martial arts, that is, as an arbiter of the rules and the person charged with rendering decisions. In reality, the referee is, like the wrestlers, a participant in executing a match in accordance with its script including its pre-determined outcome, and is responsible for controlling the flow of the match and for relaying information or instructions from backstage officials to the wrestlers. Like wrestlers, referees are also responsible for maintaining kayfabe, and must render decisions in accordance with the promotion's kayfabe rules.

The kayfabe purpose of a professional wrestling referee is to render decisions (pinfalls, submissions, disqualifications, countouts) during a match but the legit purpose they serve is to transmit messages to wrestlers about the progress of matches, communicate with them about the amount of time left (plus the beginning and end of commercial breaks on live broadcasts) and, if necessary, help them gauge the crowd reaction as well as reminding them of match script. They also have a key role in ensuring that the wrestlers are physically capable to continue, and to stop the match/inform the opponent if there is a risk of injury present. According to referee Jim Korderas, the purpose of a referee is to help the talent to tell the story, while being invisible.

CHARLES MANSON Charles Milles Maddox 'Manson' (November 12, 1934 – November 19, 2017) was an American criminal and musician who led the Manson Family, a cult based in California, in the late 1960s. Some of the members committed a series of nine murders at four locations in July and August 1969. In 1971, Manson was convicted of first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder for the deaths of seven people, including the film actress Sharon Tate. The prosecution contended that, while Manson never directly ordered the murders, his ideology constituted an overt act of conspiracy.

"POLISH  POWER"Ivan Putski-(Jozef Bednarski)

 

Ivan Putski is a former professional wrestler and bodybuilder, best known by the nicknames "The Polish Hammer" and "Polish Power".

Putski is a former WWF World Tag Team Champion with Tito Santana. He had a notable feud with Superstar Billy Graham over the WWF Championship, which led to many pose-downs, arm wrestling bouts, and long matches between the two. Other rivals included The Iron Sheik, Ivan Koloff, and Jesse Ventura, who would refer to Putski as "Puduski" when commentating for the WWF. Putski was the first Polish wrestler to perform in the WWF (now WWE). Putski wrestled his last match for NWA New Jersey as he defeated King Kong Bundy by disqualification on February 27, 1999.

Early career (1968–1974) Putski won the NWA Texas Tag Team Championship with Jose Lothario twice in 1973.[1]

Putski was a fixture on the Dallas-Ft. Worth wrestling scene and was one of its most popular personalities. He was routinely the feature act at The Sportatorium, a wrestling-only arena in an industrial section near Downtown Dallas. Putski's act consisted of being a happy-go-lucky, often aloof buffoon, who would "miraculously" pin his opponent. Putski was often introduced as a former concentration camp survivor, only adding to his sympathetic appeal to audiences of all ages.

In mid-1974, Putski worked with the American Wrestling Association.[1] It his time in the AWA that Putski also first clashed with Superstar Billy Graham.

Prior to leaving the AWA, Ivan dropped most of his weight by getting into bodybuilding. Ivan kept himself fairly trim at the 215 - 220 pound mark.

World (Wide) Wrestling Federation (1974–1987) Putski debuted in the World Wide Wrestling Federation (WWWF) in 1974.[2] While in the WWWF, Putski feuded with many wrestlers, including Bruiser Brody, Stan Hansen and Ivan Koloff.[2] On June 25, 1976 at Showdown at Shea, Putski defeated Baron Mikel Scicluna.[1][5] Four years later on August 9, Putski was again victorious at the next Showdown at Shea, defeating Johnny Rodz.[1] He also resumed his feud with Superstar Billy Graham. On October 22, 1979, Putski teamed with a young rookie Tito Santana to defeat Johnny and Jerry Valiant to win the WWF World Tag Team Championship.[1] They held the title for six months before losing it to The Wild Samoans.[2] Putski worked in the renamed World Wrestling Federation (WWF) in the 1980s, primarily feuding with Roddy Piper and Sgt. Slaughter. He took a hiatus from wrestling in 1986. He soon returned to the independent circuit, also making occasional appearances in the WWF as a jobber to the stars. His last high-profile feud was in 1984 with Jesse Ventura. His final appearance was in 1987 teaming on television with Junkyard Dog and Superstar Billy Graham in tag team matches. He then retired from the sport.

Other promotions (1981–1986) He began to slow down his career in the 1980s.[2] He won his last tag team championship in May 1981, teaming with Wahoo McDaniel to defeat Dory Funk, Jr. and Larry Lane for the SWCW World Tag Team Championship.[1] In November 1985, Randy Savage defeated Ivan Putski in the opening round of the Wrestling Classic.[1]

Return to Wrestling (1991-1992) After his run in the WWF, several promotions, and his semi-retirement, Putski returned to the ring in 1991. Putski made an appearance for International World Class Championship Wrestling teaming with his son, Scott to defeat the Masked Iraqis. Also made an appearance for Global Wrestling Federation in 1992 teaming with Gary Young against Tom and Mike Davis in a no contest.

Return to WWF (1995, 1997) In 1995, Putski was inducted into the WWF Hall of Fame class of 1995 by his son, Scott.[2] The father-and-son team returned in July 1997 to defeat Jerry Lawler and Brian Christopher on Raw is War, in what would be Putski's final match.

International Championship Wrestling (1996) In 1996, he joined International Championship Wrestling, as a face. He won several matches in the company, and he was billed as a tough guy.

LEN DENTON "THE GRAPPLER"

A 7-time Heavyweight Champion and 12-time Tag Team Champion, Len Denton’s masked persona, The Grappler, was a mainstay of the twilight years of the Pacific Northwest. A well-traveled talent, the Grappler spent time in multiple territories racking up win after win while crossing paths with a multitude of talent, including Ted DiBiase, Curt Hennig, Blackjack Mulligan, Playboy Buddy Rose and Mr. Wonderful Paul Orndorf, just to name a select few. His program with Orndorf gave The Grappler the insight Bill Watts needed to push Len Denton To the moon. His work behind the scenes in Portland may well be even more important than what he accomplished in the ring, but there is no denying The Grappler Len Denton is a worthy entrant in any professional wrestling Hall of Fame anywhere in the world. ACTOR JIM FYFE Jim Fyfe is an actor, writer, TV host, theatre director, and an acting and presentation coach from Haddonfield NJ. His work includes the Rockland Country Day School in Congers, New York in 2003. He started as a history teacher before becoming the school's Admissions Director, later its Assistant Headmaster, Upper Division Head, and then the school's Operations Administrator while continuing to teach History. In 2015, he began working alongside comedic television host Stephen Colbert, as a producer on the CBS program The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.

The First Lady of Pro Wrestling Missy Hyatt Melissa Ann Hiatt better known by her ring name, Missy Hyatt, is a semi retired professional wrestling personality, valet, commentator, and occasional in ring performer. She is best known for her appearances with World Class Championship Wrestling (1985–1986) she has also appeared with World Championship Wrestling (1988–1994), the Universal Wrestling Federation, the World Wrestling Federation, Extreme Championship Wrestling, and Impact Wrestling.

World Class Championship Wrestling (1985–1986) Hyatt's professional wrestling career began in September 1985 when she was hired by the Dallas, Texas-based promotion World Class Championship Wrestling (WCCW) as a valet for her then-boyfriend, professional wrestler John Tatum. She became known for hitting her rivals with a "loaded" Gucci purse. She was embroiled in a feud with another valet in WCCW, Sunshine. This rivalry culminated into a mud-pit match at Texas Stadium in 1986.

GORGEOUS GINO HERNANDEZ Charles Eugene Wolfe Jr. (August 8, 1957 – February 2, 1986) was an American professional wrestler, better known by his ring name, Gino Hernandez. He is perhaps best known for his appearances with the Dallas, Texas-based promotion World Class Championship Wrestling between 1976 until his death in 1986.[1] Hernandez's death was initially ruled a homicide case, but police later concluded that he had died of a drug overdose. Police later changed their findings to homicide

PSYCHICS & THE BIBLE WITH KEVIN SCHOEPPEL Kevin Schoeppel, a seventeen year old Christian boy, tries to make conversation with fifteen year old Tami, while the two are on a church youth retreat together. The conversation takes an unexpected turn for Kevin when Tami tells him that she already knows the future, and tells him what’s going to happen.

GORDON SOLIE: A DAUGHTER REMEMBERS

Tonight We Remember The Master himself "THE DEAN OF PROFESSIONAL WRESTLING" GORDON SOLIE as told by his beloved daughter.

Gordon Solie, was a Florida-based professional wrestling play-by-play announcer working for Georgia Championship Wrestling, Championship Wrestling from Florida, USA Championship Wrestling, Continental Championship Wrestling, and World Championship Wrestling. He is considered by the masses to be the most credible announcer to ever hold that prestigious position, giving him the moniker "THE DEAN OF PROFESSIONAL WRESTLING". 

KEVIN SULLIVAN

Sullivan had been an amateur wrestler in the Boston area, and was not trained professionally. His first professional match was in Montreal, beating Fernand Frechette.

Known as the heel "Boston Battler", Sullivan's "The Prince of Darkness" gimmick started during this time. In CWF he became associated with "Maniac" Mark Lewin (Purple Haze), Mike Davis, Bob Roop, The Lock and Luna Vachon and others as the Army of Darkness. His biggest rivals during this time included Dusty Rhodes, Barry Windham, and his former partner Mike Graham. Sullivan split his time with International Championship Wrestling and brought "The Prince of Darkness" gimmick there, along with Lewin and Roop. He had the Fallen Angel as his valet, who later became known as Woman. Sullivan was the top heel in ICW when the company first went national and had noted feuds with Austin Idol, Superstar Billy Graham, Bruiser Brody, Joe Savoldi and Blackjack Mulligan.

He is a Wrestling Legend and Hall of Famer (Wrestling Hall NOT WWE HoF)

The Return of Tamara Thorne & Alistair Cross Alistair Cross and Tamara Thorne joined forces in 2012 and in collaboration, they have written several novels including The Cliffhouse Haunting, The Ghosts of Ravencrest, and Mother. They are collaborating actively on several more novels and together, they also host the horror-themed radio show Thorne & Cross: Haunted Nights LIVE! which has featured such guests as Anne Rice, Laurell K. Hamilton, Christopher Moore, Chelsea Quinn Yarbro, VC Andrews, Preston & Child, Charlaine Harris, and Christopher Rice. MARILYN MONROE REVISITED Monroe studied with Lee Strasberg at the Actors’ Studio in New York City, and in The Seven Year Itch (1955) and Bus Stop (1956) she began to emerge as a talented comedian. In 1956 she married playwright Arthur Miller and briefly retired from moviemaking, although she costarred with Laurence Olivier in The Prince and the Showgirl (1957). She won critical acclaim for the first time as a serious actress for Some Like It Hot (1959). Her last film, the drama The Misfits (1961), was written by Miller specifically for Monroe, though their marriage disintegrated during production; they divorced in 1961.

In 1962 Monroe began filming the comedy Something’s Got to Give. However, she was frequently absent from the set because of illnesses, and in May she traveled to New York City to attend a gala where she famously sang “Happy Birthday” to Pres. John F. Kennedy, with whom she was allegedly having an affair. In June Monroe was fired from the film. Although she was later rehired, work never resumed.   —she was also rumoured to have had an affair with U.S. Attorney General Robert F. Kennedy—or that she had information linking the two men to organized crime. Although there was insufficient evidence to support these claims, conspiracy theories persisted.

In their first runs, Monroe’s 23 movies grossed a total of more than $200 million, and her fame surpassed that of any other entertainer of her time. Her early image as a dumb and seductive blonde gave way in later years to the tragic figure of a sensitive and insecure woman unable to escape the pressures of Hollywood. Her vulnerability and sensuousness combined with her needless death eventually raised her to the status of an American cultural icon.

LACY J. DALTON  With hard-luck songs that reflected her real-life experience, Lacy J. Dalton became one of the most popular “outlaw” country singer of the early 1980s. After winning a Country Music Association Award as Best New Female Vocalist in 1979, she released a series of albums that were both commercial and critical successes. A popular concert attraction as well, Dalton sometimes played over 300 dates a year throughout the 1980s and released an album of original material almost every year. Dalton slowed her pace somewhat in the 1990s as she entered her fourth decade in the music business. Settling in Nevada, she continued to record and perform; in 1999 she established the Let ’em Ride Foundation, an organization devoted to helping save wild horses. Lacy J. Dalton was born Jill Byrem on October 13, 19nonyadambizness, in Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania’s. Her father, who played the guitar, mandolin, and banjo, worked as a hunting guide on a nature preserve; her mother was a waitress and bartender. Both parents enjoyed singing country songs. As she later recalled in an interview with Time in 1980, “I loved the songs more than the singing. Country music is a storytelling art.” Despite her appreciation of music, Dalton decided to study art at Brigham Young University (BYU) in Utah after she finished high school. She completed one year at BYU before deciding that her artistic talent was not enough for a career in the field. She moved Minnesota, where she worked as a short-order cook and began singing with some local folk musicians. It was the beginning of a career in music, although it took more than a decade for Dalton to sign a recording contract. SYLVIA HUTTON (SYLVIA) Sylvia Hutton known professionally by her first name Sylvia is an country music singer and songwriter. Her biggest hit was the single "Nobody" in 1982. My first exposure to Southwest Championship Wrestling came in early 1983 when I happened to turn on the TV one Saturday morning to a new UHF station in the Baltimore, MD area called WNUV54 and saw my first SWCW TV show. I was certainly surprised to see a wrestling show based out of San Antonio, TX on TV in a WWF market, but I was a loyal viewer from the beginning. I was able to see on TV every Saturday morning, main event type match-ups that I would only see from the WWF if I paid to go to a house show. The SWCW angles came at you fast and furious, unlike the WWF where angles for the most part were not as prevalent as in the NWA and AWA promotions. Every week an angle played out on SWCW TV, such as "Cowboy" Scott Casey pouring a bucket of pig droppings over the head of "Hangman" Bobby Jaggers, Tully Blanchard bringing in bounty hunters to pile drive "Mr. Piledriver" Bob Sweetan and the numerous brawls between the Masked Grapplers and their tag team rivals Ricky Morton and Ken Lucas. - Tim Bland

Kevin Schoeppel's interest in psychics began in 1975 when he fell in love with a girl who could predict the future. This relationship sparked his interest in social attitudes toward psychics, as well as in discovering whatever he could about how psychic ability worked. He married his wife, Stanna -- also a psychic -- in 1978.

Kevin was raised in Southern Baptist churches, and began teaching the Bible in 1992. In 1999 he was ordained as a deacon by Pima Street Baptist Church of Tucson, and in 2006 was elected adult education director of the church. While teaching Bible classes in the mid-2000s, his students began having more questions for Kevin on what the Bible really says about spirits, psychics, and mediums.   Michael Droese is an retired professional wrestler and special education teacher. He is best known for his appearances with the World Wrestling Federation between 1994 and 1996 under the ring name Duke "The Dumpster" Droese. Droese was trained as a professional wrestler by Bobby Wales. He debuted in Miami, Florida in February 1990, defeating Johnny Blade in his first match. Droese wrestled on the Florida independent circuit throughout the early 1990s. In 1993, Droese wrestled under the name "Garbage Man", which was the inspiration for the gimmick he took the following year in the World Wrestling Federation. Before being signed to the WWF, Droese also wrestled under the ring name Rocco Gibraltar. AMY CARLSON: Love Has Won Cult Experts who study cults suggest the human need for comfort prompts people to seek out others or things to soothe their fears and anxieties. Research suggests that those element and others have led hundreds of thousands of people to commit to thousands of cults operating around the world.

They provide meaning, purpose and belonging. They offer a clear, confident vision and assert the idiology superiority of the group.

As to the leaders themselves, they typically present themselves as infallible, confident and grandiose. Their charisma draws people in, Hart says. And followers who are craving peace, belonging and security might gain a sense of those things as well as confidence through participation in the group.

The content or ideology at the core of a cult can be religious, or vary beyond that. Some cults are political, others are therapy-based and some focus on self-improvement. while still others assert the need for discipline as a way of reaching divine nirvana.

Generally, “A cult is a group or movement with a shared commitment to a usually extreme ideology that is usually embodied in a charismatic leader. Examples are David Koresh, Charlie Manson, Amy Carlson, and Marshall Applegate, to name a sparse few.

In 2014, Alistair and Tamara began the internet radio show, Thorne & Cross: Haunted Nights LIVE! Haunted Nights LIVE! premiered to great acclaim and has featured such guests as Chelsea Quinn Yarbro of the Saint-Germain vampire series, Charlaine Harris of the Southern Vampire Mysteries and basis of the HBO series True Blood, Jeff Lindsay, author of the Dexter novels that inspired the hit television series, Jay Bonansinga of the Walking Dead series, Laurell K. Hamilton of the Anita Blake Vampire Hunter novels, and New York Times best sellers Christopher Rice, Jonathan Maberry, and Christopher Moore.

Alistair is currently at work on several projects including a solo novel and a new Thorne & Cross collaboration. His influences include the works of Stephen King, Dean Koontz, John Saul, Ira Levin, and William Peter Blatty.
