20 Feb 2019The Secret To Removing The Fear Of Selling With Colin Boyd00:39:21

Welcome back to episode #306! Do you ever feel hesitant to go for the sale? I'm talking, your voice starts shaking, hands start sweating...I get it! Sales has never been "my thing," but it is not only necessary for a business to survive, it is necessary to impact others. Thanks to the help of my good friend Colin Boyd, I think I have finally been able to grasp the concept that others are depending on me to sell to them! We are always on "stage" if you think about it! Whether it be a Facebook live, a local networking event or just chatting with someone you just met in a grocery store. Speaking is something we all do! And as Colin says, "speaking is selling!" And that's exactly why I am so excited to introduce you to Colin today.

"I definitely haven't always been confident in that..." At minute 1:42, hear Colin's background and how selling became his thing. I ask Colin if he had a fear of selling or if it came naturally to him.

"I got really clear on what I was telling myself..." At 6:24, we're talking all things mindset, how to start a conversation and what Colin has done to gain confidence. Colin is sharing his tips on how to get into the right mindset and build confidence PLUS he gives us a few sample questions to help us build up our confidence and get in the right mindset.

"You always have to ask twice to get an audience response..." At minute 14:40, Colin gives us examples of what he expects when he gets on stage and how he teaches the audience to always give a response. How can we sell our stuff without felling like we or our clients aren't crossing the line.

"I'm actually disrespecting their journey if they want to go deeper with me ..." At 24:24, we talk about what happens if you don't make an offer to your people after talking on stage and how selling is actually serving. Colin tells us the 3 elements to story telling and how to tell a story that helps your audience take on the belief that what you're selling is right for them.

19 May 2017#181: Day 5 Challenge - Launched in 90 Days with Stacy Tuschl00:43:55

Stacy Tuschl is a speaker, business coach, and the owner of The Academy of Performing Arts in Wisconsin. She is the author of the book “Is Your Business Worth Saving?” where she reveals proven strategies for pulling entrepreneurs out of a rut and launching them toward business success.

While being an entrepreneur you can let your imagination run as wild as you want, but when it comes to launching…there’s no place for assumptions.
However, that’s the mistake 90% of the entrepreneurs make, which leads only to sheer disappointment, fatigue, and failure.
Stepping out of your comfort zone and cultivating growth mindset is crucial to the success of your launch (and your business). However, you cannot expect to hit your goals just by visualizing and meditating about it.
Today is Day 5 of the “Launched in 90 Days” Challenge, now so far we have talked about everything from your launch vision and mindset to finding your perfect person and launching your offer like a pro (by choosing one of the proven launch models).
Today I want you to take a step back from planning your launch and see what costly mistakes other entrepreneurs are making + how these mistakes are affecting their launches (in a bad way).

  1. UNREALISTIC SALES PROJECTIONS – Unrealistic Goals = Setting yourself up for failure. Launching your offer to a list of 100 and expecting to make $100K is wishful thinking that only leads you to an abyss of disappointment.I am in no way saying that it’s not possible to have a profitable launch with a small list, but it’s important to have enough quality leads to convert at a good percentage.
  2. THE 6-FIGURE ILLUSION – The online 6-figure launch race is contagious and so many good and hard-working entrepreneurs fall prey to it even before they take off. You’ve got to learn to walk before you can run and then fly.To make 100K in 90-Days is not mission impossible but it shouldn’t be your only mission. You may need to have smaller launches to boost your Know, Like & Trust Factor and build up towards a mega-launch.
  3. OVERCONFIDENCE – Being confident in your abilities is one thing, but neglecting super important aspects of your launch is simply overconfidence. You can’t expect to be a know-it-all, do-it-all kind of person and have a lucrative launch.Get out of your head and go out there to really listen to your dream clients and their needs so buying your offer becomes a no-brainer when you share it with them. Also, look for a support system that’s there for you every step of the way (from pre-launch to post-launch) to keep you from falling off the wagon or feeling uninspired.

DAY FIVE ASSIGNMENT:

  1. What are you going to do to avoid these costly launch mistakes?
  2. Would you be willing to invest your time and money in a system that will help you avoid all of these mistakes with a step-by-step launch process?
  3. What’s the importance of having sheer accountability for YOU during your launch?

ACTION STEPS:

  1. Answer the questions above.
  2. Share your answers in the FB group with the hashtag #Launchedin90 #Day5 to be entered for a chance to win our contest. (Grand prize valued at $997)
  3. Tune in at Noon CST to watch the LIVE class in She’s Building Her Empire Community  with an amazing challenge wrap up party (we’re talking challenge winners, raffle and something spectacular that’s coming your way!)

I can’t wait to see you in the Facebook Group!

26 Feb 2016#9: Create a Business Wish List, with Stacy Tuschl00:15:15

Stacy Tuschl is a speaker, business coach, and the owner of The Academy of Performing Arts in Wisconsin. She is the author of the book “Is Your Business Worth Saving?” where she reveals proven strategies for pulling entrepreneurs out of a rut and launching them toward business success.

In today’s solocast, I’m going to be talking about creating a business wish list for 2016. It is still very early in the year, and as a business owner, you need to consider what dreams you want to turn into actionable priorities. I believe that you can do incredible things with your business if you really put your mind to it and put things in action.

Every time we enter a new year, I’m really excited by what lies ahead for my business. A new year means new challenges, new possibilities, and new accomplishments. It’s up to us as business owners to really set the tone for the year and decide what direction we want our business to go in.

In this episode, I’m going to take you through the process of creating a great business wish list.

Some highlights include:

Develop a step by step action plan. You don’t want to let these plans fall by the wayside, so you’ve got to have a plan to make these wishes become realities. (minute 1:00)

Identify three items that you want to put on your business wish list this year, and develop a plan to achieve these goals. You don’t want to put too many items on your list: that’s a good way to force yourself to fail. (minute 3:00)

In order to grow, you must invest. You need to create a detailed investment strategy. (minute 8:00)

Get an accountability partner. You need to have someone to regularly review your business wish list with. This person will help keep you on track. Be consistent with these meetings and put them on the calendar! (minute 11:00)

Work with your team to accomplish your goals, and listen to them and help them achieve their own goals. (minute 12:00)

In this episode of the Well-Oiled Operations™ podcast, Stacy and Joel delve into the critical yet often overlooked area of business management: year-round financial planning and tax strategy. Navigating the complexities of tax compliance and business financials doesn't have to be intimidating.

Stacy and Joel discuss the distinctions between CPAs, bookkeepers, tax strategists, and other financial professionals, emphasizing the need for regular, proactive consultations rather than reactive, end-of-year meetings. They also shed light on common mistakes business owners make, such as neglecting to track essential expenses or misunderstanding entity structures, and how these errors can significantly impact financial health.

09 May 2016#40: Don’t Put All Your Marketing Eggs in One Basket, with Matt Miller00:32:34

Matt Miller spent the first 9 years of his career as an Air Force pilot, before entering the private sector to work in both the medical device and advertising industries. While a top performer in the corporate world, his long-term desire was to be his own boss. A good friend one day mentioned the gumball machines he and his young daughters owned, and that conversation began a 10-year business quest that has brought Matt’s company, School Spirit Vending, to the cutting edge of both the vending and school fundraising industries. Today, School Spirit Vendings franchising program provides a proven and profitable business system for busy professionals and their families looking to develop secondary income streams, while raising millions of dollars for education at the same time.

In this episode, Matt and Stacy discuss the strategies you can use to make your business a success through marketing.

Matt’s boss thought he got accolades too quickly, so she gave the company a 5-10% quota increase while giving Matt a 95% quota increase. This pushed him into his own business, and at minute 2:00, Matt talks about making this change.

Have a long term vision. At minute 6:00, Matt talks about fighting through the financial challenges of the early days of his business and making his long term plan work out in the end.

“I have been a solopreneur for most of my business journey.” At minute 19:00, Matt talks what he’s learned recently about using employees to delegate.

Get a coach. At minute 27:00, Matt talks about why you need someone on the outside to help you see what you can’t because you’re on the inside of your business.

Today I am interviewing Rhonda Moret from Elevated Diversity. I was so fortunate to be connected with Rhonda to go a little deeper on DEI (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion) and what that looks like in the workplace. Not only did I have the pleasure of picking her brain and witnessing her wealth of knowledge, but Rhonda will also be coming into our Well Oiled Operations program to work closely with our clients to educate them on the subject and give them support.

In our interview we discussed:

  • DEI, what it means, why it's important, how to implement it in the workplace
  • Hiring inclusion as a small business owner
  • Diversity in your team
  • Giving women a voice in the workplace
  • Inclusion in your leadership team
  • Brands leveraging DEI commitment
  • Displaying DEI on your careers page, website, etc.
  • Where to get started on your DEI journey

21 Jul 2022Improve Your Leadership Skills with Intentional Communication Guidelines00:20:12

Avoiding conflict or difficult conversations with your team members isn’t going to magically make a situation better.  In fact, the longer you put it off, the worse it’s going to get.
With intentional communication strategies, you can let your team members know what needs to change in a caring and respectful way.

Things aren’t always done in alignment with your business best practices or company values. This could be because team members don’t fully believe that the system in place is essential or it could be because the system wasn’t clearly communicated.

In any case, the needs of the business need to be intentionally communicated and you can’t let that team member continue to not meet your expectations.

When you practice intentional communication guidelines, difficult conversations become easier and situations improve for everyone.

3 communication guidelines in this episode:

  • Be Honest – state the facts and honestly express the consequences of the person’s actions.

  • Use “I statements” – “I’ve noticed” “I believe” “I am in a difficult situation because of…” always avoid blaming or harmful, hurtful statements. If you aren’t able to maintain composure, postpone the conversation.

  • Use logic vs. emotion – acknowledge the emotion first with empathy and then move on to the logic/solution.

Taking the lead on improving communication will have a ripple effect on your team and clients.

Comment ‘COMMUNICATION’ on this Facebook Post in our Facebook group to receive the PDF with these 3 tips I discussed here and other helpful suggestions to keep in mind.

Derek Deprey delved into the world of personal growth and development shortly after becoming a General Manager for the Wisconsin Athletic Club. He couldn’t get enough of what he was studying, learning and applying, so much so that he created his own business, Move Results, as an avenue to engage and impact others through motivational speaking and leadership skill-building facilitation. He feels that the best business to start is one that you need yourself. He just knew it was right because, still to this day, he goes to bed and wakes up every morning excited to pursue his business. It truly blends his day job and his dream job.

His diverse career endeavors also include Wisconsin Lutheran College and the John Maxwell Team. With the former, he’s an Adjunct Professor of Adult and Graduate Studies as well as an active member of the Alumni Board. With the latter, he partnered with the esteemed John Maxwell Team after years of being inspired by him. He personally uses his teachings to enhance my productivity, development and decision-making skills. Saying that he like to keep himself involved and professionally connected is an understatement.

In this episode, Derek and Stacy discuss what he has been able to do while running his own business at the same time as having a more traditional job.

Some highlights include:

Do you have to completely quit your 9-to-5 job to pursue your own business? At minute 1:00, Derek talks about how he’s been able to do both.

Plan the FEW. At minute 3:00, Derek talks about why it’s so important to have a plan when it comes to food, exercise, and water.

13 Mar 2020Moving Your Business Forward During A Recession00:14:02

Stacy Tuschl is a speaker, business coach, and the owner of The Academy of Performing Arts in Wisconsin. She is the author of the book “Is Your Business Worth Saving?” where she reveals proven strategies for pulling entrepreneurs out of a rut and launching them toward business success.

Welcome back to another episode of the Foot Traffic podcast!!

The fear of, “Will my business make it through a recession?” is totally normal to have right now since we don’t know what the short term future is going to look like.

It’s scary. I get it because it is the unknown.

As a small business owner who has gone through a recession In 2008, I would love to ease your mind and help you get through this and strategize so you can sleep better at night.

Today I'm talking about 4 things you can be doing right now to be proactive and move your business forward even during these times.

  1. Cut all unnecessary spending.  You have apps, software, other items you are paying for that are not working.  They are not helping your business.
  2. Do not cut money makers - Don’t downsize programs to ones that look worse and don’t cut revenue generators
  3. Lean into what is working
  4. Stay Positive - Last recession my business increased revenue every year, I plan to do that again

18 Jul 2018Tony Robbins UPW: Worth It Or Waste Of Money?00:52:47

Welcome back to episode #270, this is going to be a long one but please stick around the whole thing! I'm sure there has been a point in time where you have invested in an event, seminar, program or course and thought to yourself, "What a waste of money!" I literally can't believe I am saying this, but for a moment, I thought I had just wasted my money attending a 4-day Tony Robbins event. I can't lie and say I didn't think that thought.

“I feel like a spoiled brat even saying this to you…” At minute 2:26 I share my honest opinion of the Tony Robbins event and how I went in with high and built up expectations. Was it worth it? Should I have spent the time and money?

“Progress equals happiness…” At 6:41 I talk about how some of us are waiting for that breakthrough and want to go from 0-100 overnight. Is there growth and progress happening or have you hit a plateau? I go into the 6 human needs that Tony talks about and why they are important and the one that fuels me everyday.

“You don’t have room to think other thoughts…” At minute 14:12 have you ever walked on fire? I did! I’m sharing my experience with the infamous firework everyone does at this event. I can’t tell you enough how empowering this was for mindset and life in general and just because someone says ‘go’ doesn't mean you go.

“The crazy girl…” At 20:26 I go into meditation and the benefits on mindset, your day and I include my experience with meditation before the event, what it looked like at the event and why it’s going back on my to-do list. I tell you what I need to do more of and work less. I’m also sharing a story of a girl at this event that stood up and asked Tony a question out of nowhere. I know we’ve all been that ‘crazy’ girl where we miss what’s going on around us.

“Beliefs are truly everything…” At minute 28:36 I’m diving into beliefs, who we are and our identity. Why you need to associate pain with things you do and the exercise we did that was SO powerful that you need to do yourself. Why you need to know your goals for every single area and the endgame of those.

“You never know who you’re talking to…” At 37:56 I’m talking about why it’s so important to model and mirror people, build connections and find rapport with other people. Second, why health is everything to our lives and how my whole world changed. I’m also sharing my favorite quotes from Tony and what I got from them!

16 May 2017#178: Day 2 Challenge - Launched in 90 Days with Stacy Tuschl00:26:11

Although my signature program is called “The Profit Mastermind”, business is not all about profits, is it?
Well, I know that as responsible and impact-making entrepreneurs, we’re in business to make money so we can bring about a positive change in the world – all while living a deeply fulfilling life ourselves.
But restraining our thought and goal-setting process to just money is a grave injustice to our dreams, desires and God-gifted abilities to help others.

So when it comes to packaging up your ideas into one fine offer and putting it out in the world (a.k.a. launching), you shouldn’t keep your focus ONLY on SALES.

Because the more concerned you are about your numbers (instead of the overall impact you are making), the more those numbers will evade you…to the point that it almost becomes a never-ending episode of “hide & seek.”
When your sole motivation is your rising or declining numbers, you will act from a place of scarcity during your launch instead of a place of abundance, and that creates a no-win situation for you and your audience.

For a successful launch, you need to have the mindset of a leader. One that:

  • Radiates your true energy out in the world in a confident way
  • Knows that sales numbers have nothing to do with your value or worth
  • Enables you to share your very best with the world even when you don’t feel like it
  • Lets you claim your brilliance and encourages you to stay on track to make your mark in the world

Once you’re mentally prepared to slay your fears as they emerge, willing to look beyond numbers and gauge the real impact of your launch, and have a buddy by your side cheering on you as you move forward, sales numbers automatically fall into place.

DAY TWO ASSIGNMENT:

  1. Take a moment and look deep inside of you. List down all the fears that are possibly holding you back from having a successful launch.
  2. What will make you feel abundant during your launch? Apart from the sales numbers, set tangible goals for yourself and savor the moments when you achieve them (e.g. Increased list size, social proof, appreciation, engagement and activity, impact made, etc.)
  3. Launches don’t have to be an uphill battle. Who is the one person you want by your side during your launch to keep you accountable and celebrate your wins no matter how small they are?

ACTION STEPS:

  1. Answer the questions above.
  2. Share your answers in the FB group with the hashtag #Launchedin90 #Day2 to be entered for a chance to win our contest. (Grand prize valued at $997)
  3. Tune in at Noon CST to watch the LIVE class in She’s Building Her Empire Community.

Listen up, I’m going to show you how you can launch in 90 days but I can't force you to achieve spectacular results, so I need you to step up and do the work.

See you in the Facebook Group with rest of the challengers!

22 Apr 2022How I Get My Businesses To Run Without Me 00:16:39

It's possible to create company values that actually mean something and that can assist you in delegating responsibility to your team.

Maybe you don’t have established company values or you don’t know how to use them for anything significant. You might have just grabbed some words that sounded good and put them together. Maybe your team isn't aware of them or they don't play a part in your decision-making within your business.

3 key takeaways to listen for in this episode:

1. Two key factors that will guide you in choosing your best values.

2. Important ways you can use your company values for hiring, rewarding, and letting go within your team.

3. The exact way I use our company values to allow my business to run without me.

Company values should be the foundation of your decision making and be clearly represented within your team and your customer-facing work. I hope this episode gets you one step closer to making that your reality.

02 Dec 2016#128: The Importance of Accountability, with Stacy Tuschl00:11:27

Stacy Tuschl is a speaker, business coach, and the owner of The Academy of Performing Arts in Wisconsin. She is the author of the book “Is Your Business Worth Saving?” where she reveals proven strategies for pulling entrepreneurs out of a rut and launching them toward business success.

Today we’re going to be talking about the importance of accountability and having key people in your life that can help you do that.

Some highlights include:

When you commit to something while having other people hold you accountable, you’re going to get more done than ever before. (minute 1:00)

When you find somebody that’s like-minded and on the same mission to take their business and life to that next level, it can do some incredible things for your business. (minute 3:00)

For the last 11 years, I’ve always had a coach. I’ve made a commitment to myself that I was going to find someone who was doing what I wanted to do that could help me get there faster. When I decided to start an online business, I went to a small workshop to learn from someone who was killing it in the online space. Following someone who knows what they’re doing is better than starting it alone. (minute 4:00)

Find an accountability partner who you check in with every single week. Share your wins with them, your learning lessons (don’t call them losses), what you’re working on, and your goals for next week. The best advice I can give you is to find a go-getter. Find someone you admire and you know is always doing big stuff, somebody who you think “can I keep up with them?” (minute 5:00)

Join a mastermind group — a group of people who have a common objective in mind and they work together to achieve it. I’ve been involved in many mastermind groups throughout the years and I 100% believe that you need to get involved. (minute 6:00)

07 Mar 2016#13: Quitting Doesn’t Equal Failure, with Michael Port00:42:45

Michael Port has written six books, including “Book Yourself Solid” and “Steal the Show,” the latter which, according to the former President of Starbucks, might be the most unique and practical book ever written on the topic of public speaking. He's been called an “uncommonly honest author” by the Boston Globe, a “marketing guru” by The Wall Street Journal, a sales guru by the Financial Times, a public speaking phenom by Jonathan Fields and the best public speaking coach in the world by Lewis Howes. The founder of MastermindTalks, Jayson Gaignard, declared, "Michael Port is the best speaker I've ever seen."

His books have been on the bestseller lists of the NY Times, Wall Street Journal, USA Today and Publisher's Weekly and have been selected by Amazon and 800-CEO-READ as "best books of the year." He was once a professional actor, having received his MFA from NYU's Graduate Acting Program, guest starring on shows like Sex & The City and Law & Order, and in films like The Pelican Brief and Down to Earth. These days, Michael can be seen on MSNBC, CNBC, and PBS as an on-air expert in communication and business development and as the host of the most popular podcast on public speaking and performance, Steal the Show with Michael Port.

In this episode, Michael and Stacy discuss the trials and tribulations of running a business.

Some highlights include:

“Winners quit all the time.” At minute 3:00, Michael talks about why it doesn’t mean you’re a failure if you quit. Sometimes it pays to just move onto a better idea.

What’s more important, approval or results? Michael dives deep into the search for approval and discusses why constantly seeking approval can lead to burning out. (minute 14:00)

“How much you make really doesn’t matter.” Michael shares at minute 18:00 why revenue isn’t the financial number that you need to pay attention to; it is profit.

Things change. The kinds of advertising Michael uses now simply didn’t exist when he first started his business, and you have to be willing to utilize the most effective strategies available now. (minute 25:00)

“When there’s a lot of friction, things slow up.” At minute 37:00, Michael talks about how to become better at leading your team.

24 Oct 2024The Surprising Truth About Successful Facebook Ads for UNDER $5k Month00:31:42

In this episode of the Well-Oiled Operations™ podcast, Stacy is joined by Jennifer Spivak from The Ad Girls Agency to explore the complexities and opportunities of running successful Facebook ads and Instagram ad campaigns. Also in this episode:

  • Key metrics beyond basic click-through rates, such as return on ad spend (ROAS), and highlights the importance of engaging creative content in driving successful ad campaigns.

  • Have marketing funds you’re prepared to lose without sacrificing essentials; see it as an investment in testing and learning.

  • Focus on creating unique and compelling ad copy and visuals to keep ad costs down by ensuring high engagement rates.

Your primary goal is to get people to recognize the true value of your offer (face value + underlying value) and then to associate it with your business ethics.

You want your prospects or target clientele to know that they can count on you when it comes to solving their problem, that you understand how one thing is affecting their whole life and that there’s a better way to do things.

THIS will be the foundation upon which you build the rest of your relationship.

DAY THREE ASSIGNMENT:

  1. Understand the ONE BIG BOLD outcome of your offer; the ultimate result you are providing.
  2. Now, note down the associated benefits (you may not realize it, but your solution is creating a ripple effect in their life. Think about all the ways it can help them).
  3. Your offer may feel redundant, but there’s always a way to spice things up. Think about how you can infuse a new life into your offer by adding a cherry on top! (YES! We’re talking about supplementary bonuses, specials and valuable extras).

ACTION STEPS:

  1. Answer the questions above.
  2. Share your answers in She’s Building Her Empire Communitywith the hashtag #Day3 #IrresistibleOfferChallenge
  3. Tune in at Noon CST to watch the LIVE class on solidifying your offer over on my business page.

Listen up, your offer is more than just a way to make money in your business.

It’s a promise, a promise for a better future.

Make it worth their while.

27 Nov 2019Tips To Boost Your Productivity With Tonya Dalton00:38:01

Welcome back to another episode of Foot Traffic! If you know me, you know I am a productivity nerd and a systems girl. I'm really excited to be interviewing Tonya Dalton today who is the founder of inkWELLPress Productivity Company and the author of her book, The Joy of Missing Out. Today we're talking about that concept both personally and in our business. When should we say yes and how we often throw things on our calendars that we shouldn't. There are so many things out there and we have to decide when to say yes and when to say no. Let's dive in!

"I believe the book is more than a book. It's the start of a movement..." At minute 2:33, hear what made Tonya write her book, The Joy of Missing Out and how it came to be. Plus, we're talking about how we hide behind the word 'busy'.

"It's really easy for 'yes' to slip out of our mouths.." At 7:18, we dive into a concept I learned from Tonya about the number of Friday's you have left  and how that has changed her and her family. I ask her how she finds balance, what questions to ask and the boundaries we should put in place to assess if it's something we should move froward with.

"We chase this illusion of balance and it truly does not exist..." At minute 18:16, we're talking about putting quantity over quality. Are you doing things with intention? Hear what routines, both personal and business, have been a game changer for Tonya.

"We believe that periods of rest are a reward for great work but it's actually a requirement..." At 28:27, a reminder of why taking time to rest and recharge is so important and why we are worn out and exhausted. Plus, hear what tools Tonya uses to keep all of her systems organized.

If you want to connect more with Tonya you can head to joyofmissingout.com to find more resources and discussion guides. You can also visit her website here to check out her podcast, Productivity Paradox, watch her Tonya TV episodes, blogs and resources to help you feel more productive!

09 Apr 2024Unlocking Business Autonomy: The Path to Systematic Freedom00:05:51

In this episode of the Well-Oiled Operations™ podcast, Stacy delves into the concept of business autonomy, offering her insights on streamlining operations to be smoother and less dependent on any one individual, including the business owner. She addresses the common challenge that many business owners and upper management encounter: inadvertently fostering reliance on personnel rather than on efficient processes.

Also in this episode:

  • Success in business is contingent on creating robust systems rather than over-relying on individuals.

  • Business owners must avoid transferring their own reliance issues to other team managers or members.

  • A self-run business is achieved by equipping employees to handle issues independently, without escalating them.

  • Creating lasting change in business operations can be swift, especially when owners model the change they want to see.

10 Apr 2019Strategies To Prevent Information Overload With April Perry00:46:18

Welcome back to episode #313! I admit it! I am a total nerd. Are you one too?! It's funny how when we are younger we would never want the label of nerd, but now so many of us claim it with pride! Whether it be attending a conference, completing an online course, or even a listening to podcast...we are all in! We want to learn as much as possible!

But what if that isn't enough? What if there is more to just learning? What if just learning can actually be more crippling than empowering? I know we are all familiar with the quote "Knowledge is power," but it's more than knowledge that we need...You have to actually do something with the knowledge you are taking in or it cannot be powerful in your life and business...Which is why today in today's episode I am bringing in my good friend April Perry! April is going to cover two simple concepts with us that will help us solve the information overload problem and bring freedom and power to our life and business!

"You need to communicate what you learned at a conference to the other people who help you succeed..." At minute 0:36, I'm introducing you to April and she dives into sharing her framework for starting to build systems after attending an event. She is giving us all the tips for what we should do before going to an event or conference and her genius way of organizing her notes!

"We don't ever want to come home with piles..." At 12:37, we're talking about making connections and what to do instead of collecting a pile of business cards. April is sharing the program she uses to organize all of her notes that will be a game changer!

"When you have a flood of ideas and when you have a purpose in your life..." At minute 18:34, April shares what she does every week to make sure everything is getting done and how to prioritize everything on our to-do list. Plus we talk about why it's important to acknowledge what you've learned and took away from conferences and events.

"We don't often acknowledge how much we've committed to do..." At 26:12, April is telling us about 4 parts of building a command central to get you started and organized.

If you want to connect more with April, check out her free class at learndobecome.com/step and learn how to stop drowning in piles of paper, clutter, emails and to-do lists!

Now, when it comes to social media, we already know Instagram is the place to be. 18 Mar 2016#18: How to Find and Hire the Perfect Freelancer, with Stacy Tuschl00:15:01

In today’s episode, I’m going to talk to you about the alternative of finding a freelancer to work on your projects. Maybe you haven’t ever given any thought to using a freelancer, or maybe you’re already doing it. Either way, I’ve got lots of great information to share with you.

Many businesses are now turning to freelancers because of the convenience and financial advantages that flexible workers like this offer. Personally, I have had great success working with a variety of freelancers by outsourcing work to them that I am just too busy to complete myself. Because of this, I’m able to focus my time on what I am really good at and let someone else deal with other important areas of the business that I am not as skilled in, or that I quite frankly don’t have time for. If you are an entrepreneur, you know as well as I do that when you run your own business and have a family life, time is valuable and you need to identify priorities.

Today I’m going to tell you what to look for in a freelancer, where to look, what the advantages are, and how to develop an ongoing relationship with the right freelancers. You’ll learn all about doing business with freelancers, and I’ll give you some practical advice to help make sure you succeed. I hope that by the end of the podcast you will be well educated on the subject and will feel confident about exploring the option of hiring a freelancer for yourself.

Some highlights include:

Why should you use freelancers? In today’s market, you may need someone to help you share your message. You’ll need people to help you in the areas of business you aren’t an expert in, and it quickly becomes very expensive to employ a full-time staff to fill every position you need to fill, particularly if your business is small. (minute 2:00)

How do you find the right freelancer? Freelancers can be found easiest online, and I recommend a resource called Upwork. Freelance platforms like Upwork help to protect you from bad experiences by creating transparency through client feedback. I’ve used Upwork for several projects and it has helped me connect with some excellent people who I still work with to this day. (minute 3:00)

When you are hiring a freelancer, make sure you also take the time to consider what time zone they are working in. If they are outside of your region, they may be in a completely different time zone and communication could be a major challenge. (minute 6:00)

Any wise freelancer will price their rates competitively because they know that there are plenty of other people out there trying to land contracts as well. This is great for you because unless the job you are hiring for is incredibly specialized, it means you’ll be able to work with someone who isn’t overcharging you for their services. (minute 11:00)

Don’t try and nickel and dime people so that you’re paying less than minimum wage. Word will get out that you are a stingy client, and there will be less incentive for freelancers to give you their best. Remember, you are still paying less for the work than you would be if you have to bring someone in on salary. (minute 12:00)
