Feminist Question Time with speakers from UK, France, Brazil and Canada

Women's Declaration International (WDI) Feminist Question Time is our weekly online webinars. It is attended by a global feminist and activist audience of between 200-300. The main focus is how gender ideology is harming the rights of women and girls. You can see recordings of previous panels on our YouTube Channel.

This week’s speakers:

Anne R. - Brazil / UK

Mothers, their children and feminism - Under patriarchal society, women are a subcategory of men for their presumed reproductive capacity while the ones that have children, the mothers, are yet a sub category of women. Exiled from social mobility, fired from jobs, they undergo specific types of violence such obstetric violence while producing and maintaining human lives. Unpaid and undermined for the invisible labour they offer to society, by renew the capacity of labourers all around the world with loads of invisible housework, mothers are women that are trapped into surviving patriarchy with the extra responsibility of also protecting and improving the lives of their children. Can we discuss motherhood and childhood from a place of power rather than servitude?

Bio: Anne Rammi is an immigrant woman, artist, activist and mother of three. Born in Brazil, she was a member of several activist communities and movements, focused on social and environmental regeneration, always centring women, especially mothers, children and nature. With solid background in mobilisation, campaigning and culture hacking, Anne is currently living in the United Kingdom and always committed to the future of life on planet earth from a perspective of care and collaboration.

Nina From Canada

Employment Equity: Vs Merit to Self Identity: Canada Hat Tricking the Co-opt - From A Canada perspective the oppression that resulted in the requirement for employment equity has benefited from trans rights more than trans, who are asserting special rights - owing to depriving others of ordinary human senses and own rights to language, ideas and expression; while undermining demographics protected from oppression by conflating and coopting whole person oppression along with misapplying human rights in the public square to private lives.

Bio: A 1990s Dyke who was a news editor at Angles, The Lesbian Avengers Vancouver Chapter, The December 9 Coalition, the Gay and Lesbian / Vancouver Police Liaison Committee, the Vancouver Women's Health Collective, before being a federal civil service employee, who in 1998 was in the first pride marching unit of federal government employees. I have in disability retirement, returned to activism, and I am filing at the BC Human Rights level and am awaiting a Supreme Court of Canada file number. Nina started life as an ordinary Canadian.

Blandine Desanges - France

The count of femicides is now under attack in France, because seen as transphobic - 1 / The history of putting the word feminicide on the agenda

2 / The group "feminicides by companions or ex"

3 / NousToutes, a feminist group that becomes queer and then anti-feminist

4 / The current controversy: the facts, the reactions

Bio: French teacher (economy and sociology in high school), I am a radical feminist and activist. I am very attached to freedom of conscience and expression, which is one more reason to speak here.

Anna Cleaves and Laila Namarkdan - UK

News from UK - Erosion of single sex wards, conversion therapy and more - The erosion of single sex wards in hospitals by default AND update on the UK's proposed legislation on conversion therapy

Bio: I’m an ex employee of arts council England having served for 15 years as a specialist in visual arts in the north of England.

Lorraine Nowlin - USA - WDI USA, Black Women's Caucus Statement

Bio: I am a radical feminist and member of the WDI USA Board of Directors. My current interests include personal research and writing on the impact of religion, racial and family dynamics on women and girls.

Sarah Freeman - UK - Claiming Back the Women's Institute for Women.

Bio: I had a Damascene moment last year and since then realised the Women's Institute (one of the largest women's groups in the UK) is completely captured by gender ideology. I am now challenging the Board of Trustees to claim the WI back for women.

Zuleyka Valentin - Pueto Rico - ¿Cuál es el futuro de la Oficina de la Procuradora de las Mujeres?

Bio: Born and raised in Puerto Rico, now living in Florida. I completed a master's in sexual education on the island. During my graduate studies I questioned the "gender perspective" or gender ideology we were promoting as a healthy sexual education approach. As I became more aware of how the USA was using gender ideology to infringe upon our sex based rights and reality itself, I became a WDI USA volunteer.

This week’s speakers:

Amy Mangano - USA - Speaking Out In Athens

I plan on discussing what it was like to get ready for the protest and do my first FB livestream and ways to improve my approach for next time. Also, discuss some reactions to the protest....students reaching out...local feminists reaching out and local news reaching out.

I plan on discussing safety concerns and how my situation is way different for others. Athens is a "peaceful" community which offers me this luxury. My business would have been burned down by now in other areas of the globe.

Plan on discussing hopefulness in that a few students have started coming in to have short discussions about it.

I plan to discuss the possibility of reaching out to more students who I know want to be able to speak out but don't feel they can for fear of being expelled or punished socially.

Bio: Amy is here with us from Ohio to discuss issues surrounding being a small business owner and an outed TERF in a small liberal town.

Eva Engelken - Germany - About her book, Trans*innen? Nein danke! - book on gender ideology in Germany

Bio:Eva Engelken, journalist, lawyer and dissident member of the Green Party

Lauren Levy - USA - WDI USA's Lesbian Caucus - Why I felt WDI USA needed a Lesbian Caucus. Its intended purposes. How we created the Lesbian Bill of Rights (LBOR), and why. I'll read the LBOR. Lesbian Caucus' plans going forward.

Bio: Lauren is the Vice President of WDI USA, and a member of WDI USA's State Legislative Advocacy team. She is also the coordinator of WDI USA's Lesbian Caucus.

Bio: Feminist, Lawyer, Co-author of the declaration of women’s sex-based rights

Carolina Agurto Flores and Constanza Riquelme Bórquez - Chila

An ecofeminist look at the rights based on the sex of peasant girls and women in Chile

Bio:

Hello, my name is Carolina Agurto, I am 33 years old and have a 15-year-old son. I live in a rural area of the central valley in Chile, which bases its economy on peasant agriculture and, in the last 30 years, on patriarchal agro-extractivism. capitalist. I am an ecofeminist activist for women's rights based on sex, particularly peasant women; the right to nutrition and food, and the right to food sovereignty. I work independently as nutritionist, and I have a master's degree in human nutrition.

Hello, my name is Constanza, I am 30 years old, an agronomist by profession, a teacher and facilitator in agroecology for peasant farmers, so I travel from the north and central zone of Chile. I write in Ecoféminas Críticas, I am active in food sovereignty movements since I want to exercise my right to work and care for the land.

Helen Pringle - Austrlalia

The Women's Pool - My talk concerns the Women's Pool, aka McIvers Ladies Pool, in Coogee, a suburb of Sydney where I live. The space fo the pool is for women and children only, and it recently celebrated its 100th anniversary. In 1995, the pool survived a challenge on the basis that its women-only policy was discriminatory, and in the last two years has been the subject of a campaign to allow transgender persons to access and inhabit the space. I talk about WHY it is important to maintain the pool as women-only, in terms of security and privacy, and women's freedom from male surveillance, but also in terms of women's conviviality. I will also say a little about how the book in which my chapter was almost wiped out by trans objections.

Bio: I live and work in Sydney Australia, and am an associate professor at the University of NSW. I teach on women's rights and justice, political theory, Australian politics and international law. I co-founded the Nordic Model Information Network, a global research network supporting the abolition of the prostitution system. I owe what I am to the women of my family, including my great-grandmother, Agnes MacGregor Love, a fearless Glasgow suffragette.

This week’s speakers:

Leslie Sudock - USA - on Speaking Freely on and off the street - An informal discussion of self-expression, in both art and (American) law. I plan to present and discuss how I have used art to explore and express my political and philosophical concerns in two contexts: gender identity ideology and American Zionism. I will also attempt a brief summary of American law on the subject of freedom of expression, that will address some of the questions I've heard raised in recent FQT conversations and, hopefully, provide useful ideas for women to take from the private spaces to public ones.

Bio: I was raised in the early years of American feminism in the mid-1970's. I am a wife of 40+ years, mother of two sons and two small grandsons. My professional training and work has been in the fields of philosophy, law and historical musicology, and lately, art. I’ve worked as a legal services attorney for the homeless, as a criminal prosecutor (advocating in cases of violence against women and children), appeals court clerk, and court-appointed child advocate. I spent decades as a semi-professional classical singer, and as fiber artist and community art teacher and leader, with a special interest in art as personal and political expression.

Suzanne Vierling - USA - on The impact of the Fourth Industrial Revolution and Warfare on Womanhood

Bio: Dr. Suzanne Forbes-Vierling comes with 25 years of leadership experience in Higher Education, Mental Health, Forensic Science, Foster Care and Child Welfare, International consultation and Community Organizing. Her career has encompassed all levels of organizational leadership and management, including as an International Health and Human Services Organizational advisor serving the nations of Malawi, Chile, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Poland, Russia, Romania, Georgia, India and Philippines. Dr. Vierling is passionate about ending the tyranny against the female sex.

Feminist Question Time with speakers from Taiwan, Germany, USA and Israel

Women's Human Rights Campaign (WHRC) Feminist Question Time is our weekly online webinars. It is attended by a global feminist and activist audience of between 200-300. The main focus is how gender ideology is harming the rights of women and girls. You can see recordings of previous panels on our YouTube Channel.

This week’s speakers:

Gunda Schumann - Lesbian activist; LAZ reloaded e.V., member of the board; lawyer, sociologist, author. Germany

Topic: Settlement of transgender ideology in German politics and law in Germany - Trans activists are infiltrating Bundestag (Federal Parliament) and mobbing a gender critical feminist nominated as chair of a working group of the emerging Federal Government. Greens succeeded in passing a State law on law enforcement that allows trans identified people to choose prisons reserved for the opposite sex (with some limitations) without any public debate

Jennifer B. Bilek - an investigative journalist, artist and activist living in the United States. She is the author of The 11th Hour Blog, examining the intersections of Transgenderism, Technology and Capitalism & reporting on the global gender industry. USA

Topic: What and who is behind Transgender Ideology?

Jaclynn J - Originally from Hawai’i, USA, now based in Taiwan, I am a PhD student in the field of feminist philosophy. I am a university lecturer, a published writer, and budding activist working in the field of women’s rights and gynocritical research. I have created and manage one of the only feminist-focused book clubs in Taiwan, volunteer with various non-profit organizations, and am a voracious reader. I love traveling, ancient and medieval history, critical thinking, and challenging the status quo.

Topic: Gender identity ideology in Taiwan - On September 23, the Taipei High Administrative Court issued a ruling allowing a trans-identified male calling himself “Xiao E (小E)” to change his legal sex to female without sex reassignment surgery — the first of its kind in Taiwan. How did this ideology reach Taiwan — an Asian nation on the edge of the Pacific? It appears certain groups in Taiwan have been working in near secrecy to make this law happen, leaving the public and especially women's organizations completely out of the loop.

Luba Fein - Israeli abolitionist, a member of the women anti-prostitution coalition, and FILIA volunteer

Topic: An abolitionist struggle and implementing the Nordic model in Israel.

Raine McLeod - Canada - Government-Funded Defamation: How the Canadian Government is Silencing Feminists - The government-funded non-profit that is targeting feminists in Canada and the hit piece they wrote about me. Bio: Former English Coordinator for WDI - Canada, founder of Alberta Radical Feminists Carol Bartle and Katrina Biggs - New Zealand - An Update from Aotearoa New Zealand - Events in Aotearoa related to transgender identity ideology – debates and politics - women’s rights and GC feminists. Issues with language changes and the issues related to the loss of sex-based language in maternity, birth, breastfeeding and women’s health Bio: Carol Bartle has a health background including midwifery - Major work and interests include women’s health, ethics and human rights, climate change and health, breastfeeding and infant feeding politics, women in prison – particularly mothers with babies in prison. Katrina Biggs - I am an ordinary woman. I have done a number of things in my life, but going to university and getting letters after my name aren’t amongst them. However, I can still work out how any legislation which allows men into women’s and girls’ spaces and sports won’t go well for women and girls. There have always been, and always will be, a certain number of men in any group who are not okay people, which is why women and girls need safeguards and boundaries. It has no bearing on how men identify or their occupation, and it’s naïve in the extreme to believe otherwise. No one should need a university degree to know this. I am a co-spokeswoman for Speak Up for Women New Zealand. Pauline Makoveitchoux - France - Being a feminist photographer in a misogynistic society that advocates the hypersexualization of women and makes feminist activists invisible. - The personal is political so I will tell my life story, and my vision of feminist photography. In this society where women are only passively represented and material reality is now erased, I continue to try to document struggles and create images of authentic, active, struggling women. Bio: activist feminist, photographer. Disclaimer: Women’s Declaration International (WDI) hosts a range of women from all over the world on Feminist Question Time (FQT) and Radical Feminist Perspectives (RFP) and on webinars hosted by country chapters – all have signed our Declaration or have known histories of feminist activism - but beyond that, we do not know their exact views or activism. 23 Oct 2022RFP eps 58 - Radical Feminist Ethics01:31:19

This discussion of Radical Feminist Ethics is an exploration of the topic but does not necessarily represent the views or policy of WDI.

Radical Feminist Ethics - A discussion with Sheila Jeffreys, Lauren Levey & Jo Brew live streamed from the WDI Fringe at Cardiff to an international audience globally.   Our concern is not with how we can be nicer to each other for its own sake (though it would be good if we were). Our concern is that we want to win the political fight for women's liberation.
