08 Feb 2022Lake Bohinj • Slovenia00:29:12

Lake Bled might get all press when it comes to lakes in Slovenia.

But I think Lake Bohinj is the most beautiful lake in this little country.

Bohinj is surrounded by the Julian Alps and much quieter and more natural than Bled.

It's kind of like comparing an amusement park to a national park.

And I'll take the national park — Lake Bohinj — over the amusement park — Lake Bled.

In fact, Lake Bohinj is located in Triglav National Park, Slovenia's one and only national park.

What about you?

Does Lake Bohinj sound like a destination you'd like to visit?

Then take a listen to this episode on this stunning slice of Slovenia.

01 Nov 2022Lago d'Iseo • Italy00:36:43

Known as the "romantic lake" Lago d'Iseo Italy is a beauty and worthy of that title.

While others may flock to Lago di Garda or Lago di Como, Lago d'Iseo sees fewer visitors.

It's smaller.

There are charming lakeside towns and villages to explore as well as lots to do in the great outdoors.

Lago d'Iseo also has something the other lakes don't — a beautiful island in the middle of it.

29 Nov 2022County Mayo • Ireland00:51:31

County Mayo is one of the best destinations in Ireland.

And it sees far less visitors than some of the other counties — which I think make it even better (fewer crowds!)

County Mayo has some charming villages with awesome pubs.

It has a national park — Wild Nephin & Ballycroy National Park — and a Dark Sky Park.

There are hills and peaks along with some peaty bogland.

The coastline is amazing with sandy beaches and sea cliffs.

And County Mayo has some incredible historical sites — from castles to the all important Céide Fields.

I love this county!

And I think you will too.

So tune in to find out about all the amazing things to do in this Irish county.

09 Jan 2024Europe Travel Bucket List Revisit 202400:39:46

Wander Your Way Adventures are here!
https://wanderyourwayadventures.com/tours/marvels-tastes-of-the-dolomites-italy/

The first small group tour happens June 16-28, 2024. And we're going to Alto Adige (South Tyrol) Italy! Wine, food, hiking, Novacella Abbey and the stunning Dolomite peaks. Hope to meet you there!

Do you have a travel bucket list?

Maybe you have a specific Europe travel bucket list?

I always have a list.

In fact, in February of 2023 I put out an episode about this very topic.

But things change.

So I think it's a good idea to revisit your Europe travel bucket list each year.

Maybe you actually were able to cross some places off your list.

Perhaps you've added some new destinations (of course you did!).

Maybe you've shuffled some spots around as certain places have become more of a priority.

Now I get it that some people don't like the idea of a "bucket list".

So maybe a better term is a "wish list".

Whatever you call it, I truly believe in dreaming big when it comes to travel.

You can make your travel dreams come true (and I can help)!

So what's on your Europe travel bucket list?

Send me a message at Lynne@WanderYourWay.com and let me know!

11 Jun 2024Ireland vs Scotland00:50:07

Ireland vs Scotland.

Many times I find that my travel clients want to try to do both countries.

But when I tell them they need to make a choice because they really don't have enough time, they don't know which one to choose.

Ireland is awesome.

Scotland is amazing.

Ireland vs Scotland?

Which one would I choose?

I don't pick one over the other.

What I do in this episode is lay out the similarities and differences between Ireland and Scotland.

This way you can make the decision of which one is right for you.

And if you're like me and it's both?

Well, then I guess you are just going to need more holiday time!

17 Sep 2024Blair Castle • Scotland00:43:46

Blair Castle is one of many castles in Scotland.

In fact there are so many castles that you may not be sure which ones are worth visiting and which ones are not.

My personal opinion is Blair Castle is worthy of some time.

There is a lot of intriguing history — including some Queen Victoria stories, beautiful pieces of furniture and gorgeous plaster ceilings that wowed me.

Plus it has a magnificent garden that you'll want to wander through.

So in this episode, I'm going to recommend some of my top places to go in Florence.

23 Mar 2021Aragon • Spain with Meg Zirger00:50:58

How would you like to see an incredible Spanish Basilica, hike along gorgeous mountain trails, eat some delicious tapas and drink some tasty Spanish wine — all without the crowds?

Then look no further than the region of Aragon in Spain.

My good friend, Meg Zirger, has been living in this region for 10 years and she loves it!

She is going to give us some good tips on where to go, what to see and what to experience in this northeastern part of Spain that has so many hidden treasures to explore.

From the regional capital of Zaragoza with its jaw dropping Basilica and vibrant tapas bar scene to the Pyrenees mountains of Ordesa and Monte Perdido National Park to the Mudejar architecture and beautiful villages of the Teruel province, the Aragon region has something for everyone.

And this region does not see the number of visitors as other hot spots in Spain such as Barcelona, Madrid, San Sebastian or the Costa del Sol.

So you get to a more authentic and true Spanish experience and that chance to connect with the locals who, Meg claims, are some of the nicest Spanish people in all of Spain.

Want to chat more about Aragon, Spain?

Just send an email to lynne@wanderyourway.com to chat more about this amazing Spanish region. If I don't know the answer, I'll just ask Meg!

06 Apr 2021County Donegal • Ireland00:42:54

Wild. Rugged. Remote.

These are the words I'd use to describe this amazing county in the far Northwestern part of Ireland.

The locals proclaim, "It's different up here!" And it is.

This is what makes this county so appealing to the adventurous traveler. You wont' be rubbing elbows with too many other travelers, but you will get to know the incredibly friendly and fiercely proud locals.

Want to lay your eyes upon some of the most stunning coastline in all of Ireland? Maybe you want to tour an incredible lakeside castle? Perhaps you want to walk on some gorgeous beaches? Or commune with the ancient spirits at a stone circle? How about some fun pub time?

County Donegal has all of this and more. But without the hoards of tourists.

While it may take a bit more effort to get here, once you do, you'll wonder why you didn't come here sooner!

Breath taking. Stunning. Gorgeous. Charming. Beautiful.

There are so many words I could use to describe the little village of Castelrotto and Alpe di Siusi, the high altitude meadow that sits above the town.

It's one of my absolute favorite places on the planet.

All you need is a love of nature — and a camera!

What is slow travel?

And what does it really mean to travel slowly?

Let's start with this scenario:

You probably have a relative or friend who has traveled to a country in Europe.

As he or she recounts the trip — that was all of 10 days on the ground — they list off about 25 places they visited.

It was a whirlwind and your head spins at all that this person saw and did.

But did they really see it?

Did they really do anything?

And, more importantly, what did they truly experience?

Slow travel is the opposite of this.

It’s spending more than one night in any given town or city.

It’s getting to know the destination, the history, the culture and the people of that place.

Slow travel is more about experiences and connection.

And it’s not about spending an hour or so at some site or landmark, checking it off your list then moving onto the next site.

In this short episode, I'll bust a couple of myths about slow travel and offer up some tips and advantages to traveling slowly.

Need more help in planning a trip to Europe?
