Peter Serafinowicz is an absolute scene-stealer and the best part of this show. Series creator Mitch Hurowitz basically copied his own Arrested Development, right down to Keri Russel looking similar to Portia De Rossi. However it ultimately falls short as Will Arnett simply doesn't have the charm of Jason Bateman. Will Arnett also seems to be the only person upset it was cancelled. Guest: Tony Crumb from God Chat

This Battlestar Galactica spin-off has a stacked cast highlighted by Eric Stolz. Extremely high-concept, we actually had to bring in someone who was well-versed with the source material to try to break it down further. This one is guested by Producer Tom Cash, with nerd knowledge to the power of 3 we still all struggled to decipher all that we saw and believe us it was A LOT! Clocking in at around 3 hours of television! Not surprising to any of us that this was a SyFy original with plenty of bad CGI.
04 May 2022 | Rubicon | 01:19:05
This 2010 AMC series stars James Badge Dale fresh off The Pacific and a few other familiar faces. It's high-concept and filled with intrigue and mystery for any conspiracy theorizers out there. As always we review the first and last episode and try to figure out where it went wrong. What business AMC had cancelling this in the midst of juggernauts Breaking Bad and Mad Men will leave us reflecting on what could've been as they continue to milk The Walking Dead cash cow. Guest this episode: Amber Gauger
01 Jun 2022 | Clone High | 00:42:51
A short-lived, brilliant animated sitcom about famous figures in history who are cloned in teenage form as part of government employees' secret experiment. We follow their lives as they weave their way through the trials and tribulations of high school. This series also features modern celebrity cameos such as John Stamos - damn, we love that heartthrobby bastard Uncle Jesse! Far ahead of its time and gone too soon. We await the two-decades-in-the-making second season expected to come out sometime in 2022. Guest: Xavier Liska
03 Aug 2022 | Tuca & Bertie | 00:28:56
A very oddball show about animated human-like birds among other things like a 8 foot tall plant lady. Nonetheless, it gives it the freedom to be as silly as possible while staying within it's own narrative. And also having acute social commentary. It's irreverent, it's hilarious and it was cancelled by Netflix. Thankfully, its brilliance was recognized and it is entering in its third season on Cartoon Network. Guest: Cyrus Chase
14 Sep 2022 | Pasadena | 01:01:30
A mystery soap featuring Alison Lohman, Dana Delaney and Jason Robards. This stems around deep family secrets bubbling to the surface as lies, corruption and deception seemingly run in their blood. Nearly impossible to find, it would fit in well at three am on a Telemundo Sunday morning. This also features Balthazar Getty (nephew of John Paul Getty III) basically playing himself in a staged version of his own family. Guest: Frances Devries
07 Sep 2022 | Trophy Wife | 01:22:51
Malin Akerman plays a great drunk! Even if this is a bit too comparative to Modern Family, it's still a fun series with well-casted actors including Marcia Gay Harden. Its biggest downfall is perhaps its 22 episode length, a practice which was thankfully phased out some years ago. This may be the only live-action sitcom that we seriously ponder UnCancelling. Guest: Erica & Lea of Hey Sister, Soul Sister
26 Oct 2022 | The Event | 01:10:05
They really hate this in Australia! Or maybe that's just our mate, Tom, who has a real problem with the way Jason Ritter runs - he should run back to his dad's balls. This is another mystery/action-drama that seemed to come and go in that post-Lost craze bubble. Not much of an event if you ask us. Guest: Tom Croucher of Zesty Life Hacks
11 May 2022 | Swamp Thing | 00:59:08
This series, a further attempt by DC to bring its properties to television, is an action-packed show with attractive young leads (Andy Bean of IT: Chapter Two and Crystal Reed of Gotham) that didn't even get the chance to have all its episodes aired before cancellation. It seems that DC was still too insecure with Marvel at the time to give anything a chance. This 2019 series still has all the chances to be brought back from purgatory. A DVD release including the final 3 episodes is barely scratching the surface. Certainly it's not how you bring a series back to life these days. Since Jeff Bezos is practically a lizard, we're still holding out hope Prime video could pick this up where it left off. Guest: Tom Cash, Producer of UnCancelled
20 Jul 2022 | Kings | 01:06:07
Some then-and-now familiar faces as this features Ian McShane (Deadwood, John Wick), AKA TV Pacino and Sebastian Stan (Pam & Tommy, Captain America). It's a modern retelling of the classic David Vs. Goliath story. This time Goliath is a beast of a military tank and the future King David is a soldier, played by Christopher Egan aka TV Matt Damon (not to be confused with Jesse "Meth Damon" Plemons). The pilot and finale both are featured in 2 parts and clock in around FOUR total hours. Which might just have been its downfall. Guest: Sirr Sterill of My Movie Mix
05 Oct 2022 | Stella | 00:36:48
On the surface, this appears to have nothing to do with the beer or A Streetcar Named Desire. But, Edward Norton makes a cameo only a few years removed from working with Marlon Brando. So, maybe that's an Easter egg or a serious stretch on our part. This niche sketch comedy series aired on Comedy Central in 2005. Giving TV time to former cast members of MTV'S The State and long-time sketch troupe Stella consisting of Michael Ian Black, Michael Showalter, and David Wain. Buffoonery in Suit-ery. Guest: Sharaell Hormos

Brandon's sister insists this is nothing more than fluff. But he's not convinced there isn't more than meets the eye here. This stars Karen Gillan and is loosely based on "My Fair Lady". She plays a social-media obsessed woman with poor social skills in reality. Completely unlikable and shallow. She hires marketing guru Henry (John Cho) to help teach her how to be more likable and create genuine connections with people in real life. 'Cause there ain't nothing like the real thing. Guest: Natalie Marsdin
20 Apr 2022 | Firefly | 00:41:01
This 2003 series has been called "the greatest tv show of all time". So popular that unlike all of the other series we will be looking at on UnCancelled, it got a movie release a couple years later. This space western show stars Nathan Fillion, Morena Baccarin, Adam Baldwin, Gina Torres, and Alan Tudyk, whom all have gone on to have successful TV and movie careers. So there’s no better time to discuss the Serenity crew on the inaugural episode of our series! Guest this episode: Braden Worton
21 Sep 2022 | FlashForward | 01:10:16
This was one of the shows that was greenlit among the boom in mystery/sci-fi/drama brought on by the success of Lost. Starring Joseph Fiennes (Shakespeare in Love) and John Cho (Harold & Kumar), this features some horrible dialogue and bad CGI as well as Baywatch-style slow-mo (sadly Joe Fiennes is not in a red swimsuit). Our guests for this episode, however, felt a little differently. It might just be UnCancelled after all. Guest: Pattie Lee and Bill Larson from The Watchlist with Pattie & Bill
09 Nov 2022 | The Break with Michelle Wolf | 00:54:10
This was when Michelle Wolf was red hot fresh-off her hosting of The President's Ball. Netflix, desperate for fun new content, jumped at the opportunity to give Michelle her own show. Not surprisingly, she shit the bed. There's certainly an audience for these types of shows. I'm not sure Michelle is entirely to blame. But, Netflix inadvertently gave her enough rope to hang herself with. Seriously, who writes as bizarre concept as feeding Amazon's Alexa a lunch meat roll? Especially on a show like this. That's like if Bill Maher filmed himself pooping on Johnny Depp's iPhone while Siri screams "Yummy!" Guest: Novelist Ian Trutt
15 Jun 2022 | The Class | 01:25:40
From the co-creator of the popular Friends comes this sitcom starring a slew of now-famous names including Jon Bernthal (The Punisher), Lizzy Caplan (Masters of Sex), and Jesse Tyler Ferguson (Modern Family). This coming out in 2006, the cast was led by Jason Ritter (most famous for being the son of his dad). A strong series opener and deep cast keeps this as a cult favorite nearly 2 decades later. But will it be…UnCancelled? Guest: Jack Moody of The Neighbors Upstairs
10 Aug 2022 | Undeclared | 00:43:06
This short-lived Judd Apatow series stars Jay Baruchel as Steve, who is entering his first semester of college. Upon moving into his dorm, he is quick to make friends including roommate Englishman Lloyd (Charlie Hunnam) and girlfriend Lizzie (Carla Gallo). As well as dorm mate Ron (Seth Rogen) and Steve's newly-divorced, mid-life crisis experiencing dad. Jason Segel rounds out this cast as Lizzie's obsessive ex-boyfriend Eric. The best part? All episodes are available to stream on YouTube. How can we not UnCancel it? Guest: David from Shoenen Flop Follow David on Twitter @shonenflopcast and his site http://shonenflop.com/.
06 Jul 2022 | The Tick | 00:58:34
An excellent cameo from Doc Brown himself, Christopher Lloyd, solidifies this as one of the most fun pilots we cover during this season. That is of course where we meet David Burke as Arthur who goes on to become the sidekick to Patrick Warburton's Tick, who is perfectly cast. His large frame and deep voice perfectly embody all aspects of The Tick; from his tall superhero-esque stature; to his aloof yet snappy one-liners that just seem to keep on endlessly flowing! Well, the actors may have gotten a little too up there in age to reprise their roles in any live-action sense. We can still hold out hope for a revamp of the animated series featuring this same cast! Guest: Tom Croucher of Albums
25 May 2022 | Awake | 01:00:39
This NBC series from 2012 had our guest arguing for a reboot on HBO. With a very intriguing concept and a well-executed pilot perhaps a less-restrictive content guideline would have made it all the more successful. Nonetheless, we take it for what it is & review the pilot and finale of the 13 episode show as it appeared before coming to our conclusion. That conclusion being that Jason Isaac has facial expressions akin to Mr. Bean. Guest: Heather Faye-Netflix
16 Nov 2022 | John From Cincinnati | 01:09:45
This is like when Adam Sandler pays for his vacation with his friends by making a film. Except they forgot to hire writers. Where good shows have character building, instead more are added here. It's nice to see a bunch of familiar faces but it would be nicer to see them contributing to a story. As one reviewer put it, "if Gary Busey looking in the mirror was a TV show". My explanation for this episode is about as constructive as an explanation for this show. A far cry from Milch's previous "Deadwood". Guest: Nate from The (Un)American Football Show
13 Jul 2022 | Grosse Pointe | 00:49:14
For coming out at the turn of the millennium, this show is extremely meta and is somehow timeless while also being very of the year 2000. The Truman Show style show-within-a-show format is taken and applied to a soap opera as creator Darren Star sends up his own experiences working on 90's teen dramas Beverly Hills 90210 and Melrose Place. The best part is all episodes are available for viewing on YouTube. Guest: Jack Moody from The Neighbors Upstairs
28 Sep 2022 | That's My Bush! | 00:46:18
A White House parody during the initial tenure of George Dubya created by Trey Parker & Matt Stone. It's friggin' hilarious and we're disappointed to know the spin-off never happened due to 9/11. The pilot includes a hilarious meeting between President George and a failed abortion fetus. The finale is no letdown either, as we get several vignettes of George in popular sitcom parodies after being fired from The White House. What a Dick! Guest: Dave McDonald
18 May 2022 | Bunheads | 01:30:51
ABC Family kept airing reruns of 'Gilmore Girls' while being starved for content and decided to source a new show from right under their show. Enlisting Amy Sherman-Palladino to pen this short-lasted series between past-juggernaut Gimore and her current 'The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel' about a group of young ballet dancers and a former Vegas showgirl. You may recognize some familiar faces if you're a fan of Sherman's other works and/or a John Hughes classic. As always Brandon & his guest go into this one blind. As they get further into the episode and do their own research they surprise themselves from confused head-scratching of the show runner to confused head scratching of the network. Guest: Cassie Carl
31 Aug 2022 | Sweet/Vicious | 01:28:21
This 2017 series aired on MTV and had a fun premise about two college students who team up to incapacitate creepers around campus. One is a tech badass and the other is a certified martial artist. The hijinks that ensue keep it fun while it frequently veers in and out of typical MTV teen fluff of today's culture. This proved to be more on the fence than most series this season. Guest : Lindsay Accord

19 Oct 2022 | Karen Sisco | 01:09:24
This tv spin-off of the popular novel-turned-film "Out of Sight" casts Carla Gugino in the J-Lo role. While Gugino is undoubtedly beautiful, she isn't given too much to do beyond random, clichè storylines that leave much to be desired. Marshall Sisco (Robert Forster), her private eye father, is given the more interesting stories, and by the final episode has more-or-less been given the main storyline, leaving Karen Sisco a side-character in her own show. Guest: Brion Salazar of Around Comics!
27 Jul 2022 | Garth Marenghi's Darkplace | 00:36:17
Purposefully bad production and story quality. This show is the perfect parody of hospital dramas mixed with 80's horror comedy. It's like a British Cronenberg mixed with General Hospital. Technically speaking I don't think it was ever cancelled because I don't think there was ever the intention to have more than what we got. Guest: Michael Kinkley from Story Time with Tom and Mike
08 Jun 2022 | Jon Benjamin Has a Van | 00:48:19
Once upon a time, back in 2011, H. Jon Benjamin had a van. This show, which aired on Comedy Central, featured a whole slew of alternative comedy guests including David Cross, Bob Odenkirk, Patton Oswalt, Nathan Fielder, Eric Wareheim, Tim Heidecker, Jay Johnston, Andy Richter, Rich Fulcher, and Metallica guitarist Kirk Hammett. In it, Jon Benjamin and his crew drive the streets looking for news stories and man-on-street interviews. Listen as we discuss the highlights and low points of this very unique series, and try to decide if it’s worthy of being UnCancelled. Guest: Tom Cash, Producer of UnCancelled
17 Aug 2022 | Brad Neely's Harg Nallin' Sclopio Peepio | 00:46:33
This animated sketch comedy series from one of the writers of South Park is off-the-wall bizarre. Not surprisingly, it aired on Adult Swim. Ultimately, it drowned in its own nonsensical concepts. The show's unusual title, according to Neely, is "intentionally meaningless," being made up of the staff's "favorite collection of syllables." It was originally going to be titled TV Sucks. I suppose that would've been a little too on-the-nose… It features guests such as Lizzo, Gabby Sidibe, and Father John Misty. Guest: Elliott Richardson
29 Jun 2022 | Everything Sucks! | 01:00:36
This underrated gem of a Netflix series came and went. Drawing comparisons to Freaks and Geeks and those coming-of-age time capsule series of the 90's and early 00’s, it perfectly captures that essence and throws a lid on the bottle. Much like those series, it seems we'll enjoy it for years to come. Scratching our heads at why they never continued. Guest: Michael Kinkley from Storytime w/ Tom & Mike
02 Nov 2022 | 10 Things I Hate About You | 00:30:07
This features ABC Family going back to the well for a Johnny Sameface move. In what may be reminiscent of shows such as Lizzie McGuire, comes this series based on the hit movie of the same name. It also features one of the most awkward, abrupt and absurdly hilarious ending to any series that we cover. Possibly among all of television history. And it all seemed so unintentional. Guest: Xavier Liska
14 Dec 2022 | Bunheads Episode 10 | 01:25:38
In this bonus episode, we review the original finale of "Bunheads" and discuss if it actually did make the show that much better. Joining Brandon is recurring guest Mike (Everything Sucks, Darkplace). |
