26 Jul 2022Episode #5: How The Burning Times of Witches Influence White Women Culture00:44:37

Welcome to Episode #5 of Triggers & Spiritual Medicine Podcast with host Laura Bonetzky-Joseph and our Guest Rae Carter of EmpowR

Topic: How The Burning Times of Witches Influence White Women Culture

In this episode Rae shares her breast cancer journey and what it is like to heal the root issues both within herself and as a society as she continued to deepen her healing and recovery.

What she discovered along the way is short of inspiring, it is eye opening with that Ah-ha moment of like “Oh crap, so this is where everything is rooted”.

Have you ever wondered why women do not support each other – especially white women? Especially in business and careers? Instead, we often feel envy, jealousy, or judgement?

Have you ever wondered why women are so darn critical of other women? Like where does this stuff really come from?

Have you ever wondered why women feel an instinctual need to compete against each other, but you do not know where it is rooted?

Have you ever wondered where the ideology of women serving the man ever came from?

I ask you to tune in to THIS very thought-provoking amazing episode as we shed the beliefs systems, we’ve been conditioned to believe that runs through our very DNA over hundreds of years.

I will add this episode may be triggering for some who are not ready to dive deep into the root issues many of us women – especially white women are experiencing and WHY we keep repeating cycles that do not serve us OR repeating cycles that serve us in a way that still keeps us chained to the patriarchal expectations.

This is sure to be a POWERFUL episode, and, in the end, Rae's offers 3 things you can do today to make a shift.

ABOUT RAE:
Rae Carter (she/her) is a dialogue facilitator, culture builder, communication strategist, healing navigator, and intuitive arts practitioner. She cultivates community and creates opportunities for vulnerable connection, courageous conversations, individual wholeness, and collective healing. She works at the intersection of health, communication, culture change, and consciousness. As the founder of EmpowR, she embodies her life purpose as one small player in the shared work to heal the heart of humanity.

Welcome to Episode #4 with Guest Dr. Tawny Kross on addressing the ROOTS to chronic pain and healing military sexual trauma.

This is a powerful episode where we talk about Dr. Kross's experience as a physical therapist in treating military vets and personnel for chronic pain and how the prevalence of unresolved unhealed chronic pain trauma can be linked to those with a trauma history.

With as much as 90% of her clients with clinical PTSD, Dr. Kross began to see the correlation of chronic pain and the connection to unhealed sexual trauma history.

One in four women report military sexual trauma - although this is under reported. Half of those who report sexual trauma are men.

Dr. Kross shares 3 Tips on how to look at chronic pain differently and what to do about it. She also offers tips on what to look for to find a trauma informed physical therapist.

ABOUT Dr. Tawny Kross:
Dr. Tawny Kross graduated with her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Duke University in 2013.

She has worked in a Veterans Affairs hospital for nearly a decade now. Through the course of her practice, she has developed a very comprehensive and integrative approach to PT, which evolved from the necessity of such an approach in her work with the complexities of those who have chronic pain. This includes nutrition, hypnosis, guided imagery, mindfulness among other practices.

Focusing on mental health and being trauma-sensitive is of particular importance, as many of her clients have experienced military sexual trauma. She helps her clients move beyond pain and fear by connecting them with internal motivations, guiding them to see innate strengths and realize their inner healing abilities.

She recently started her own business, Kross Centered Care - Integrative PT, Health and Wellness in order to bring her expertise to more people.

At times, it was like walking the path inside a labyrinth, we got turned around, and even lost. Yet it is also a story of how we found our way out of loss and confusion. I hope this story helps others find solace and peace. My wish for the reader is that this book will give them a sliver of strength, perhaps some clarity, and tools for healing.

Honestly after interviewing Dr. Jess, I've never met someone so akin to my life's work and what my soul came here to accomplish.

For those who do not know Dr. Jess ... I can't highly recommend her and her work enough. This episode is life changing. I rarely endorse anyone for good reasons. So when I do, there's a good reason and I'd stake my reputation on it.

This talk is deep, direct, and powerful while addressing the elephant in the room that affect women impacted by violence and abuse, healing, and justice while offering 3 actionable steps folks can do today.

About Dr Jessica Taylor

Dr. Jess Taylor is a leading expert Forensic psychologist who has worked extensively with PD in SA, DV, CSA and sex trafficking cases in the UK.

She is also the Director of Victim Focus, and has authored multiple international best-selling books including:

  • "Why Women Are Blamed For Everything"
  • "Sexy But Psycho: How the Patriarchy Uses Women's Trauma Against Them"
  • and her latest "The Trauma Impact Manual".

She has made appearances on British television, including BBC Two documentary "Womanhood", and in the true crime documentary "My Lover, My Killer".

During the PhD, Jessica explored emerging perspectives and critical approaches to understanding victim blaming. She also studied advanced psychometric theory and created the BOWSVA Scale (a validated psychometric which has the ability to measure victim blaming attitudes of women subjected to sexual violence and abuse).

Jessica had a vision for an independent organization that could challenge, change and influence millions of people to understand that victim blaming, misogyny and pathologization was embedded into every system in the world, and so in April 2017, she launched VictimFocus.

In April 2020, Jessica released ‘Why Women Are Blamed For Everything’ self-publishing in paperback. With no publisher, agent or publicist, the book caused an international conversation and celebrity endorsements resulting in 10,000 copies sold in the first six weeks.

In March 2022, 'Sexy But Psycho' was released and went straight to Sunday Times Best Seller, entering at #5 in the national non-fiction book chart.

About Victoria:

She is a cheerleader at heart and not afraid to offer straightforward empowering messages. EVERYTHING is about perspective in astrology and interpretations vary from different schools of thought. She is mostly self-taught, but influenced by: Carl Jung, Dane Rudhyar, Jeffrey Wolf Green, Evolutionary Astrology, Alice Bailey, Esoteric Astrology, Melanie Reinhardt, Liz Greene, and many other brilliant cosmically attuned Teachers. She feels one of her great gifts is synthesizing many different streams of information and teachings into messages for the Highest Good without being confined by any one particular system. She primarily uses the Tropical Zodiac and Placidus house system - she feels it is the most accurate.

She has been a student of astrology and all things Metaphysical since she was a teenager, over 30 years ago. She’s always had a voracious appetite for Knowledge and Information.

She founded VICTORY ASTROLOGY in January, 2018. This space is meant to share her love of astrology and help teach others how to empower themselves by learning to understand the language of Astrology, rather than seeing it as a “Belief System” or religion. It is not.
